NARUTO OMEGAVERSE ☆
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
୨୧ alpha!naruto x omega!reader (f)
— how does he act around his omega s/o ?
MY MASTERLIST: ☆
this is my first time writing for anything other than tokyo rev. I've just entered another naruto brainrot and was baffled by the lack of naruto omegaverse content on tumblr, so I decided to diversify my blog and write for naruto too!
I'll post a headcanon about being team 7's omega later in the evening!
Tumblr media
ALPHA!NARUTO
naruto truly is an energetic person, the reason why he approached you in the first place is because of your empathy for others.
you know him since childhood, while his personality and his curse might have driven others away, you never treated him differently.
you were kind and thoughtful, but you still stood your ground and never hesitated to speak up for others.
naruto was always by your side. he was a noisy kid and whenever you voiced something, he often felt the urge to say it even louder to make sure people heard you or to back you up. you did feel a bit embarrassed sometimes, but his clumsy actions were endearing in their own way.
you noticed how he always seemed to protect you without never overstepping your boundaries. he wanted you to know he would always defend you, but never overwhelm you with his presence.
he would always challenge the other kids whenever he saw them as threats, possibly taking your eyes away from him.
always your #1 defender, never letting any other kids treat you badly, especially since you hung out with him. he wasn't afraid to get mad and pick a fight if he considered that your pride or integrity was involved.
growing up, he still didn't stop following you like your shadow.. the only difference was the way he carried himself, he seemed so much more reliable you found yourself falling for him.
COURTING
his actions towards you were no longer clumsy attempts to impress you, instead, he started an enthusiastic pursuit, his determination was impressive and you knew he meant every words he ever said to you.
as mindless and forgetful as he might look, naruto is one to spoil you with thoughtful gestures.
during the courting process, he would gift you handwritten notes, try his best to carve a wooden necklace with your initials behind it.
his gifts are surprisingly delicate and he's paying extremely attention to your interests.
naruto is always so supportive of you, cheering you on, congratulating you for any reasons and ready to help you for anything as well.
he's so reassuring, affirming that everything will be fine whenever you're doubting.
if you're in trouble for example, he'll simply tell you to go rest. he'll take care of the rest, you don't have to worry about anything! he'll throw you a big smile and come back with his same happy face, and your problems are all gone in a minute!
even as a teenager, naruto still is pretty jealous, not in a possessive way, but he will get upset when other alphas are looking your way. once again, he will not hesitate to challenge anyone if it means keeping you for himself. yes, he will be the main reason why you don't have any alphas asking you out anymore.
naruto wants to seduce you by showing you how strong and reliable he is, always bragging about his strength and how his training will turn him into one of the best shinobi to ever exist.
he tells you about his ability to protect you, and that he'll never stop working out nor neglect his training. you can rest assured that you'll always be safe by his side!
he is protective of you, that's a fact, although it's not as intense as some other alphas. he trusts you and values your independence, he doesn't want to become a burden or a nuisance to your happiness.
that's why he learnt to take it easy and let you live a normal life most omegas don't even have access to.
but don't worry, naruto isn't scared to step in, in order to shield you from whatever he considers compromising to your safety. he wants you to be 100% comfortable, doing everything in his power to keep you away from harm.
you're his priority and he will offer you his unwavering support in times of distress and doubt.
even during the courting process, you both are comfortable enough to let him spread his scent around you. he'll shower you with his pheromones to calm you down and talk to you in a reassuring manner, so foreign to the naruto people usually have in mind.
RELATIONSHIP
once you get together, he's attached to you, more than before if that was even possible.
he's dragging you to surprise dates, gifting you everything that reminded him of you and kissing your forehead every chance he gets.
his nose is always buried in your neck : he's whipped for you and your sweet scent, and he's shameless about it too.
he takes deep breaths with his face pressed against your scent gland and doesn't stop until you push him away. once you look at him, he has the most satisfied grin ever and profusely kisses your whole face with love struck eyes.
he's crazy about pda and isn't embarrassed at all to initiate it, even in public. you're his omega, why would he restrain himself from showing you his love?
he is so proud to be your partner, everyone knows about it the second you start dating.
you're the prettiest omega he ever laid his eyes on and naruto knows how lucky he is that you have chosen him out of everyone.
that's why he's so desperate to show you that he's the right one for you, that he's trustworthy and that you can lean on him.
oh yes please, he's so devoted to you he'll do anything! especially during your most vulnerable moments, when he thinks he's blessed that you chose to trust him near you when you're in this state.
ask him to bring you this type of snacks and he's running outside to get it! ask him to give you more blankets or soft items for your nest and he'll go straight to your favourite shop to buy them.
he's delighted the first time you ask him to scent one of your clothe. sure, he had gifted you a couple of his shirts when you weren't dating, when he was still courting you, but it was always coming from him, and he didn't really know whether you accepted them or just politely threw them away without him knowing.
to have his beautiful omega, directly ask him to be scented by him is a dream come true and you swear he has heart eyes when he eagerly starts scenting all of your wardrobe.
being in your nest, cuddling with you is quality time he'll never neglect or refuse. he loves it so much! everything smells like the both of you, an intoxicating mix of your flowery scent and his own, which makes him soo dizzy.
he's even happier when you start cooking for him, always packing his lunch before a mission or any normal training.
food is one of the things he loves the most, and to have it prepared by his precious omega is such a blessing. you're the best cook and your food is so delicious he can't get enough!
but you're not the only one who can make him giddy, naruto has his ways when he wants to make you flustered.
he actually doesn't do it on purpose, but when he suddenly acts all serious and talks to you with his reassuring and soft voice, looking at you like you're the most beautiful and delicate thing he's ever seen, you can't help the blush from making its way to your cheeks, nor the rapid heartbeats his manly scent sparks.
he smells it in your scent, it's subtle but he's able to decipher such change in you. when you get shy or a bit more submissive than usual, you scent also gets sweeter and softer. it drives him crazy and he has to dig his nose closer.
he teases you a bit about it, but he doesn't want to ruin the romantic mood so he tones it down for now.
his omega needs his love and attention, and he'll give it to her!

A Fateful Encounter
Pairing: Kiba Inuzuka x Reader
Word Count: 2.2k+
Content: fem!reader, werewolf!reader, gore, blood, angst, mentions of death, a bit of findom, pet names
Summary: It's been nearly a decade now since the Fourth Great Ninja War. You and your tribe live just outside of Konoha's border, a coexistence spanning nearly a century, but one fueled by secrecy. Hardly anyone in Konoha knows the truth about you, and you'd like to keep it that way. Unfortunately, a member of your tribe has been mortally wounded. From past experiences you know that the only way to save them is to sneak into Konoha to get supplies, but what happens when your ruse to appear as a human is exposed?
Writer's Notes: Hey, so this is my first fanfic. I wanted to write down this scenario I had floating around in my head involving Boruto era Kiba Inuzuka and my werewolf OC. For the purpose of this fic, I turned her into the reader. I really want to rewrite this scenario from Kiba's point of view and have that as a sister-fic to this one. I also have at least one more part for this fic planned, so you can be on the lookout for that! When I write up the second part I'll be sure to link to it in the description. I hope you enjoy.
Tumblr media
Red. Everything was red. The oppressive hues coupled with the noxious stench of mangled flesh was wafting through the stagnant air.
"Stay strong, please. I'll be back as soon as I can," you said gently as you held up a hand to the grimacing maw of your friend. You affectionately ran your nails through their fur while you reassured them, "I swear I won't let you die." Your eyes began to swell a bit, but you managed to maintain your composure by virtue of sheer willpower. You knew that unnecessary emotional outbursts wouldn't accomplish anything right now.
The only thing that can help in this situation is action. That's right, you can't just sit here forever.
"I need you to keep pressure on the wound," you barked while beckoning over a trembling youth. "Don't ease up even for a second, okay?"
"O-o-ok," their voice meekly whimpered.
You could see the hesitation in their eyes, but you knew there were no other options.
"I promise I won't be long. This is something only you can do right now. Please," you pleaded while pointing to your companion huddled on the ground, "just stay here with Kōtarō and I'll handle the rest."
You kneeled down as you rested your hand on the pup's shoulder. They gingerly lifted their head up to meet your gaze. A firm resolve resonating within you emanated from every cell in your being. The youngster, emboldened by the exchange, gave you a silent nod as they arduously walked over to Kōtarō.
After instructing them on where to apply pressure, you put on your hood and took off at a breakneck speed towards Konoha.
Your adrenaline gave you tunnel vision, all you could think of was saving your friend. In your haste you neglected to double-check all of your belongings before you left. You thought that your gear felt a bit lighter than usual, but you couldn't quite figure out why. The only thing that mattered to you right now was securing medicine for Kōtarō.
You suppressed a wave of uneasiness swelling up inside of you by reminding yourself of what was at stake. Even a single moment of hesitation could be the difference between life and death. You bring yourself back down to earth by biting down on your bottom lip hard. A few drops of blood ooze out and flitter in the wind as you continue on your journey.
As you closed in on the village you took a detour to the east. There was no way the guards would let you in normally, after all. Thankfully the Konoha ninken were cordial with your tribe so you rarely had any issue when you chose to use their special entrance.
Entrance… might not be the right word for it. Sure, it was used for egress when a rowdy hound wanted to escape the humdrum of everyday life. Since the war ended there have been fewer and fewer missions for ninken, but their drive to hunt and unleash their energy hasn't abated in the slightest. On occasion a ninken or two will even join your tribe when the moon is at its fullest and brightest, joyously scampering about while their human partners are none the wiser.
As you think back on the last full moon you see Kōtarō's face in your mind. He was so happy to have finally been able to lead the pack in their nightly run, his eyes glimmering with pure joy and excitement as the cool breeze delicately tousled his coat. The sinister touch of reality didn't let this daydream last long though as it tainted his visage, turning it from one of unbridled bliss to gut-wrenching agony.
The sordid apparitions your mind concocts shake you to your core. Your entire body involuntarily shivers as you stagger closer to a partially obscured hole in the ground next to the wall that surrounds Konoha. A sullen howl in the distance snaps you back to reality.
"I'm doing this for him," you reassure yourself.
With one swift motion you jump up a meter or two and by the time you've reached the ground your transformation is complete. You've gotten better at this over the years. At first the blistering pain used to radiate throughout your body, especially in your bones. But nowadays you can complete the sequence without so much as a second thought.
As soon as your paws touched the warm earth you deftly burrowed through the small hole in the ground, being sure to not disturb the surroundings on the other side of the wall. You were very familiar with the placement of the crates that lined the perimeter of Konoha. The wooden boxes, for being as mundane as they were, served a surprising number of purposes. They were the perfect hidden entranceway that moonlighted as a lycanthrope transformation room.
As quickly as before, your body was transfigured into that of a young adult. Your metamorphosis into a human was pretty convincing, but your pointed ears and vivacious tail were remnants of your true form that belied your façade. In your haste you neglected to tie back your ears and tuck your tail entirely into your clothes. The caramel brown strands of fur weren't fully visible, but a discerning eye from a curious stranger could prove to be a detriment.
You silently lifted the top of the crate open so you could peer outside. You scanned the area, making sure no one was nearby, before you furtively slipped out through a small opening. You dusted off the outside of your cloak before beginning the next leg of your journey.
You'd been to Konoha many times, so you knew the quickest way to get to your destination, a pet supplies store on the south side of town. It used to be so much harder to secure provisions and medications, but since the Fourth Great Ninja War there have been more chances for an outsider such as yourself to blend into the monotonous mass of visitors that now populate the streets. Most of these tourists are too engrossed in their own inflated sense of self to pay much mind to others, let alone a meek and unassuming young woman keeping to the shadows.
You have keen senses and a knack for erasing your presence, so the rest of this trip should be easy, you reassure yourself. The owner of the pet supplies store you frequent has come to know you well over the years, a tacit understanding facilitated by the exchange of this civilization's currency.
You often wonder how these rather dull and drab coins are useful in any way to humans. It's not as if you can eat the hunks of metal or use them as a vulnerary, on the contrary you have to be wary of the ones that contain trace amounts of silver lest they elicit a potent allergic reaction. Just thinking about the tarnished tender makes the hackles on the back of your neck radiate with trepidation.
If anything, those accursed coins are more of an affliction than an asset because you've seen many a human turn feral from their wicked grasp.
"And they have the nerve to call us monsters," you mumble to yourself in a muted tone as you approach the pet supplies store.
As you enter the store you're greeted with an astute, silent nod from the proprietor. After half a second of eye contact you return his nod and make your way to the back corner of the store. You're grateful that the old man who owns this joint has never once questioned your rather unusual appearance.
He's no doubt seen the amber strands of your fur that sometimes peek out under your cloak when you bend down to grab something on a bottom shelf. An unfortunately timed occasional sneeze here and there sometimes jostles your hood and misplaces it ever so slightly, but he chooses to keep silent even when faced with an disconcerting truth that would unnerve most normal humans.
"Hm, what does 'normal' even mean?" you ponder to yourself while mindlessly passing through the aisles.
You've been here enough times in the past to know where everything is, so all you have to do is just turn this corner and-
Before you could finish that thought you carelessly trip on a leash that's being pulled taut by a rugged man with a distracted look on his face. His expression changes from one of distracted consumerism to that of genuine concern.
As you stumble and fall towards the ground a robust arm with an impressive amount of strength grabs you around your waist right before you hit the ground. The man slowly pulls you back up, but you're too frazzled to give much of a reaction. Your hood slightly askew now, and one of your ears is poking out ever so slightly.
"I'm sorry, my bad." a voice rings out. "I was looking for a leash for our newest puppy and-," the words continue to hit your eardrums but you can't make much sense of them because your heart and mind begin racing at an astronomical pace. The only thing that you can hear is your own heartbeat clamoring in your ears. "…my sis is busy, so I'm on shopping duty… and Akamaru, oh that's my partner, he… and I can't believe Kōtarō hasn't given us a raise this year, something about inflation-"
"Kōtarō?" hearing that name snaps you back to reality.
"Yeah, you know him or something?" the man asks with a skeptical expression on his face.
A flood of images from earlier today dance through your mind, the vile spectres of your past beckoning you towards the edge of a cliff. The icy chill that ran down your spine was enough to unfurl the jumbled mess of thoughts that constricted your free will.
"Kōtarō," you repeated again.
"Uh miss, are you ok? Also, it looks like you might have a little dog fur stuck on your hood here let me-" as the man reached over to grab the tuft of fur that was attached to your ear, you jumped back a little.
"Thank you," you said as you quickly fixed your hood and straightened up your cloak, shaking off the dust with a newly ignited fervor.
"You're welcome? Listen, just now was that your-" before the man was able to finish his sentence you were already in the next aisle grabbing supplies. He turned around and followed you, but you couldn't make out what he was saying because your mind was consumed with one thought.
"I have to save him." The words kept repeating in your head over and over.
You dashed to the register while carrying a considerable amount of gauze, antibiotics, and medical tape. As you put your items on the counter the man came jogging from the aisle you were just in.
"Hey, wait. Stop ignoring me!" he exclaimed as you frantically searched for the bag of ryō that you always carry with you whenever you visit Konoha. When you reached down to your waist the only thing that you were greeted with was a sense of horror. The rope that usually holds up your pocket change was missing, and in its place was nothing but a sinking feeling of dread. It must have been severed during all of the commotion earlier in the forest.
"Put it on my tab," you feverishly whimpered while deftly snagging the items off of the counter before the proprietor could react.
As you sprinted out the door, the owner shook his head admonishingly as he glanced over at the man who had a countenance composed of equal parts intrigue and confusion.
"So, is a member of Konoha's Military Police Force seriously going to let a robbery happen right in front of him and not go after the thief?" the proprietor asked with a snarky expression on his face.
The man snapped out of his daze, a cheeky smile emerging amidst the lingering remnants of bemusement.
"No way. I'll make sure I catch up to her or my name's not Kiba Inuzuka," the man proudly barked while puffing out his chest and flexing his muscles.
"That's all well and fine, but I still need to pay for my next shipment of Azithromycin. That stuff's not cheap, you know! Since you're so sure of yourself, why don't you cover her tab for now and get her to pay you back?" The old man had a crooked, sinister smile on his face while he pointed at the number on the register.
"Yeah, sure. I know I'll get her to pay me back. I'm Kiba Inuzuka, after all. There's nothing I can't-" he did a double take as he read the exorbitant number listed on the register, "-excuse me, that medication cost HOW MUCH?" Unable to swallow his pride and admit he was wrong, Kiba grabbed his wallet and paid for the mysterious woman's tab.
"Thank you. Please come again," the proprietor's cheery voice resounded as the cash register ringed.
Kiba has a sullen look on his face as he put his wallet away. It looks like his clan's youngest ninken will have to wait another day for that new leash. He left the store with a heightened sense of determination. "Okay little princess, now where did you run off to? Don't think you can run away from my nose."

also there’s a lot of their teammates being all “lol you’re friends” (or, well, naruto and chouji being all “lol you’re friends” whilst sasuke and shikamaru are more [acts like they’re above asinine ninja drama but they absolutely are not at all above asinine ninja drama]) while they are all “no??!? die??!?” even as their friendship rekindles stronger than before

Sasunaru fantasy au but werewolf Naruto this time.
One of the worst things about being a fresh werewolf, other than now becoming a target among those she used to call friends, was how exhausted she felt after each change. She doesn't know if she'll ever get used to it. The horror. The fear. The panic and most of all the pain. The way her bones cracked and broke to fit how her body began to grow beyond the limits of her human form. How her face deformed itself into a snout and her row of teeth stretched to allow room for fangs to grow out of bloody gums. Her nail beds stretched to envelope nails that thickened and lengthened into curved, razor-sharp claws, and how those very claws would viciously tear at her skin as it cracked and peeled away to reveal coarse reddish fur.
Sasuke would always try to comfort her outside of the glass chamber meant to keep her confined as she struggled to learn how to control herself. But her desperate screams would turn to howls that would echo through the chamber and drown out every other sound except for the beating drum of her heart in her ears and her consciousness fighting for control in her mind against the feral presence that sought dominance.
After a while, she'd black out entirely and wake up hours later to Sasuke holding her now human form, wrapped in a blanket, and softly calling her name in a gentle attempt to coax her to wake up. For the following days, she'd be confined to her bed, too weak to even lift her head. The first time she turned she didn't wake up for 2 days and Sasuke had to stick her with an IV out of fear of her dying from dehydration.
So with all that said it was probably stupid of her to leave the house after resting only for 3 days. If Sasuke woke up before she got back she'd tell the Uchiha that she'd merely gone out for groceries which was true but the reality was that staying at the warehouse they were currently living in was suffocating after a change, especially with how the process always made her feel trapped in her own mind and the chamber she was confined in during the grotesque transformation didn't help.
She needed the fresh air to fill her lungs. She needed the sun to warm her skin. She needed to feel the sole of her sneakers pad against soft earth followed by hard pavement. She needed the simple mundanity of choosing which sugary cereal to buy that would annoy Sasuke the most. To pick up his favorite brand of tea to make up for it. To say hello to the cashier and exchange smiles and pleasantries.
She needed to feel human again.
It's her sixth change minus the first and she's done this three times so Sasuke might berate her when she gets back but there won't be any bite to it because like always he understands.
How could she have known that she'd stumble on 3 Komugakure hunters in the middle of a small town like Yugakure?
It would have been easy enough to evade them if it weren't for the fact that they were ganging up on a vampire in the middle of an alley.
The vampire, who was lying on the ground, didn't look older than 12 and the fact that she was out in daylight meant that she was a naturally born vamp. Probably also living in the small town with her family to keep themselves off the radar. But regardless, she didn't look feral. There was no reason to target her. Not that it mattered to some hunters who only saw them as monsters. Certain vampire parts sold for a lot of money on the black market after all.
Naruto's blood boiled as she approached the group and her fury burned even hotter when she realized the vamp had been shot in the leg. Probably with a silver bullet so she couldn't heal and run. She was sobbing and begging for her life as the hunter aimed his gun at her head and they were all shocked into silence when a can of beans flew through the air and hit the back of the hunter's head.
"Hey, assholes!"
All four of them turned to see Naruto standing a few feet away holding 2 more cans at the ready in each hand.
The girl collected herself fast because she immediately turned her attention to her leg and Naruto was both shocked and impressed when she dug her fingers into her wound and pulled out the bullet with a silent scream and probably burned fingers too. The girl takes a second to recover before stumbling to her feet which is when the hunter closest to her notices her attempt to escape. He rushes to grab her but is stopped when he becomes a victim to another one of Naruto's cans, giving her just enough time to run. The singular hunter who hadn't met the same fate as his two partners, let out a furious curse but the one with the gun had recovered and was now looking at Naruto with the kind of attention that made her want to squirm, especially when his eyes suddenly widened and his lips formed a smirk.
"Don't bother with her, we've got something better on our plate. You're Naruto Uzumaki aren't you?" he asked and Naruto's grip on the can tightened.
" What's it to you?"
"You are! You've got one hell of a bounty on your head you know that?"
Naruto's own eyes widen.
'Shit'
Naruto sees it coming from a mile away and the last can hits the man in the head again before he can raise his gun and aim at Naruto's leg. She reaches the hunter just as he hits the ground and Naruto immediately kicks the gun out of his hand and counts her blessings when it skids on top of a sewer grate and falls through its bars. She kicks the fallen man in the face next but before she can give another the other 2 drag her back.
Guns are few and far between among hunter guilds what with how they needed to be built from scratch to accommodate the silver bullets and runes. A duo or trio of partnered hunters are only ever given one so Naruto doesn't hesitate to wrestle her left arm away and swing it back into the jaw of the guy holding her on the right, so hard that he folds to the ground.
But the throbbing pain from the hit made her want to scream because of how sore her hand still was from her change even days later. The pain was so bad that her vision whited- out and it was all the opening the last hunter standing needed to slam her against the wall and stab her in the shoulder. The blade scraped against freshly healed broken bones and she would have let out a scream if it weren't for a hand suddenly grabbing her throat and gripping it so hard she couldn't even choke out a sound. She raises both hands to the man's arms in a weak attempt to push him back but just as she grasps them, the man slams the back of her head into the wall by the neck. The pain so blinding that when the hunter lets her go she crumples to the ground like a broken puppet.
"Be grateful they want you alive," she hears someone say before she feels the impact of a kick to her legs followed by a loud crunch and a pain that steals her breath and her sight before she loses herself to the dark.

Writer’s Notes: Hey everyone! I’m back with the continuation of my fanfiction. I’ve included a lot of disturbing and vivid imagery in this chapter that some people might find distressing. I referenced some of my own struggles with PTSD when piecing together our heroine's plight. If that’s something that may be triggering for you, I recommend using your discretion when reading this fic. As always, please take care curating your online experience. Writing in this way helps me sort through my emotions and experiences, but I know that this kind of gruesome vibe isn’t for everyone. Thank you for stopping by, and please enjoy my innermost musings!

Your pace quickens as you weave in and out of the crowd of people who are now walking the streets of Konoha. You don't like to wander into the village when it's daytime, but necessity trumps any sort of trepidation and restraint you'd normally exhibit, especially considering the situation.
So much has changed over the years, but the general layout of the village remains similar to how it'd been since the reconstruction around a decade or so ago. Large, flashy neon signs decorate the façades of the buildings that used to be humble and unassuming family-owned businesses. This new age of technology has given the village a more synthetic and futuristic vibe, it's almost unrecognizable to how it used to be when you first happened upon that modest little pet store.
As you skillfully maneuver your way through the throngs of absentminded villagers idling on their electronic devices, you're hit with a wave of adrenaline. Every step you take is carefully executed, brisk enough to get you to your destination expeditiously, but not overly flashy, lest your faltering guise of humanity be exposed. Interacting with humans is a delicate game of shōgi, one wrong move could jeopardize your entire strategy. A false step here could strip the golden sheen off of your body, melting your flimsy veneer with a callous indifference until there's nothing left but a heap of regret.
There's no way you're going to concede defeat now that you've come this far, though. There's no way you can let yourself just give up. If you're just a pawn, then so be it. Even the lowliest of shōgi pieces turn into gold generals once they infiltrate the enemy's territory, and you're already more than halfway to your destination.
"This medication isn't going to deliver itself," you say to yourself as you slowly exhale and grit your teeth. A quick pat on your cheeks calms your overstimulated nerves. With a renewed sense of vigor you continue on your way with a sprightly stride.
A few more minutes pass, and thanks to your subdued dashing you've made it to the familiar crates that line the wall that protects Konoha from outsiders. As you take your final steps to the containers you stop to take refuge in some shadows and take one final look around the vicinity with a furtive glance.
You don't often shift with this many people around, but since you took longer than you'd expected, you don't really have a choice in the matter. Most of the people are lingering around the nearby shops, and those who aren't are glued to their handheld devices.
"Now's as good of a time as any, I guess," you shrug to yourself. After scanning the nearby area one final time you jump up in the protective cover of the shadows and begin to morph into your true form.
You can feel your limbs shortening and your teeth repositioning, coupled with a searing pain that you almost find comforting because of its mundane familiarity. As the nails on your hands begin to sharpen you hear a loud voice calling out in the distance.
"Hey!" the gruff voice thunders, alongside the sound of uneven footsteps.
The sudden sound startles you, causing you to crash to the ground instead of land elegantly like you usually do. The aches that accompany your transformation hinder your recovery from this egregious blunder, so all you're able to do at the present time is look down the street while an oversized figure sprints towards you.
"Just what do you think you're-" the voice cuts off when the physique of your acquaintance from earlier today comes into view.
This was it. This was how it was all going to end, you think to yourself. There was no coming back from letting a human see your transformation sequence. This is just like when- no, no use thinking about that right now. There are more pressing matters.
As you look up pathetically from the ground you greet the man's confused expression with a melancholy frown, a silent acceptance of your fate.
"Woah, how did you do a beast transformation without hand seals?" you hear his voice ring out. "I would be seriously impressed right now if I wasn't pissed at you for ditching me back there."
Did he just say hand seals? So that must mean he didn't see everything. Which means... you still have the chance to weasel your way out of this situation.
The voice continued to chastise you while you collected your wits, "You do know that leaving a store without paying is stealing, right? And that stealing is a crime? Listen, I don't like arresting women as beautiful as you, but I'm going to need you to come down to the station with-"
This was it, this was your only chance. As the man turned his body slightly, reaching over to grab his handcuffs, you mustered up enough strength to jump up off the ground. As soon as your paws touched the dry earth you darted towards the wooden crates. You knew that this would likely threaten the only reliable entrance you had to Konoha, but there were no other options right now.
"Alright, princess, it's time to come with me-" the man exhaled exasperatedly, "COME ON, NOT AGAIN!" The anger in the man's voice was palpable, but you didn't let that deter your escape.
By the time the man had noticed your hurried departure you were already squeezing your body through the small gap under the wall. As your body wiggled to the other side you heard a loud crashing sound coupled with an irritated groan. You felt a hand try to grasp your tail, the calloused fingertips gripping onto a few long strands before pulling back with an enormous amount of force. An unfortunate but minor casualty, hopefully those few strands of fur would be the only loss today.
You wriggle your body through the makeshift tunnel, front paws clawing at the dusty ground in a hurried frenzy. After you've succeeded in pulling yourself out of the burrow, you immediately begin sprinting as fast as your tired body will take you. Muffled sounds of aggravation fade into the distance, replaced by the racing thoughts that intensify with every step you take.
I really hope I'm not too late, you think to yourself. Flashbacks from earlier today flood your mind, making your vision hazy. These haunting hallucinations aren't doing you any favors, but the closer you get to Kōtarō, the more intrusive these recollections become. You can feel your paws quivering, making your stride unsteady, but you force yourself to carry on.
So much blood. So red. The deepest and most oppressive red you'd ever seen.
The trees and bushes around you began to morph into a grotesque caricature, melting and mutating into a sea of aberrant crimson shapes. The scenery begins to make no sense, the contours of the landscape wrap in unnatural ways all across your field of vision. Your body feels as if it's moving through a vat of congealed molasses, each step becomes an onerous, almost insurmountable task.
The delirium overtaking your psyche slackens your pace to that of a staggered crawl. You lurch forward while bracing yourself on a nearby tree, you trip on some sort of unseen object, nearly capsizing in the process. The world around you begins twisting and spinning, and you stumble to the ground as you're overcome by an intense bout of vertigo.
"Hey, wait up!" The words sound so muffled, so far away and yet...
"I know you're over here, princess." The familiar yet austere timbre cuts through the crimson vortex swirling around you. "Don't think you can escape from Konoha's number one tracker."
The loud thud of someone landing right next to you startles you, but also serves as an anchor for your psyche. The scarlet-tinted penitentiary you found yourself trapped in begins to dissipate as you slowly look up to see the frustrated man shaking his head at you in disbelief.
"Listen here," he chastised in a harsh tone, "I don't want to do this any more than you do. But you can't just shoplift right in front of a police officer and expect me to look the other way. Kōtarō wouldn't let me hear the end of it if he saw what happened today."
Kōtarō.
Hearing that name dispels the trance that's been holding you captive. You shake your head a little as you steadily raise yourself from the ground, your frenzied panting slowing to a more normalized pace. You look up at the man admonishing you with an appreciative glance.
"Hey, are you even listening to me?" The man's voice is growing more agitated by the second, but there's no time to waste.
"I'm s-sorry," you stutter as you stand up on your hind legs, preparing yourself for one final transformation, "I'll explain everything later, I promise. I just have something I need to do first."
"Don't think I'll let you get away a third time. I won't-" the man's sentence cuts off as his jaw drops, a wave of bewilderment crashing over him.
And why wouldn't he be awestruck? You were equally as mystified the first time you witnessed the woeful yet magnificent transformation sequence.
Unlike a ninjutsu, there were no flashy hand signs or theatrics to accompany this transmogrification. The thick fur that once covered your entire body recessed, and the pale flesh underneath shone as it reflected the harsh wavelengths beating down on you from above. The juxtaposition of the man's sun-kissed skin with your pallid, moon-embraced skin was quite the stark difference to behold.
The sweltering but familiar pain associated with your transformation was positively excruciating today. Maybe it was because of the merciless onslaught of warmth of the mid-afternoon sun. Maybe it was because this was the fourth time in a day you'd shifted. Or perhaps it was because of your nervous system overload, spurred on by the extreme stress of the situation you found yourself in. Whatever the reason, it sure wasn't helping to have a witness to the heinous sin you were committing. Your entire entity was an affront to humanity. A paradoxical creation that should by all means, not exist in reality.
Before the burning in your bones could abate fully, you hurriedly reached into the bag strapped onto your back, rummaging for the wares you had swiped from the pet store. There was no time to take your satchel off and give it a thorough search. With intuition as a guide, you felt around in the bag, moving the supplies you needed most to the top of the pile. The unmistakable feel of the plastic pill bottle and the distinct rattling noise it made when you shook it afforded you a small comfort. Your preparations were now complete.
You were fairly close to your destination by now. You could smell the virulent odors that portended a gruesome truth, a harbinger of death that you were, unfortunately, very well acquainted with. Coexistence with humans always led to this outcome, without fail.
As you drew closer to Kōtarō's scent you noticed a glimmering sparkle next to some nearby bushes. Upon further inspection you recognize the familiar tattered pouch, its strained fibers taut from the weight of the shimmering coins inside. With one swift motion you reach down to grab the bag and then toss it towards the dumbfounded man who has been standing silently in place throughout the duration of your spectacle, without a doubt too astonished to make a move.
"That's what you wanted, right?" you ask, looking back over your shoulder for confirmation. "Well as you can see, or rather smell, I've got more important things to deal with right now. Just take the whole goddamn bag and leave me be, leave us be."
The man was too stunned to even catch the bag you so deftly threw in his direction. Instead it lay on the ground, coins spilling out onto the dirt in a haphazard fashion.
"Wait, miss. Please," the man broke his silence, rasping out his words in an uneven tone, "Let me help."
"Help?" you scoff while turning your body away fully. "That's rich coming from a man who tried to arrest me twice in one day. I don't need your help. We don't need you. So just take your savior complex and shove it up your-"
"Listen, miss," the man pleads as he walks towards you, "I might not be an observational genius like Shikamaru, but I do know a crime scene when I see one. And this," he mutters as he scans the surrounding area with a scrutinizing gaze, "is about as textbook as they get."
You could sense his persistence by the inflections in and tone of his voice. Every second spent arguing with him was a waste of precious time.
"Fine," you reluctantly concede. "You can follow me, but absolutely no touching anything. If I sense even a shred of ill intent, I won't hesitate to shred you into pieces." You flash your devilishly long nails in his general direction while you continue on your way.
An audible gulp followed by a succinct "Yes, ma'am," were the only things to leave the man's lips as he follows you through the thorny thickets.
You spryly weave through the underbrush, the only remaining obstacle standing between you and Kōtarō, with the man following closely behind you. As you emerge through the final bushes you're greeted with a smell that triggers the phantoms of your sordid past to claw their way to the surface once more.
They don't materialize fully though because you feel a brawny hand rest on your shoulder. "Hey," a voice calls out to you. The reverberating baritone keeping the spectres at bay.
"I know I agreed to not touch, but you look like you've seen a ghost, miss."
A quick shudder passes through your entire body, chasing the shadows of the past away, and the world regains its colorful luster once more. For the first time in years, perhaps even decades, you were grateful that there was a human by your side.
"I'll forgive you. This time," you meekly chirp out while taking the final steps towards your friend, hiding your flushed face from the man. "But don't press your luck. Now if you'll excuse me, I've got a friend to save."
You squat down next to the mangled body of your beloved kin. The young pup that you'd instructed to keep pressure on the wound was still in the same position as before. This time, you think to yourself, I'm going to save him.
You reach into your satchel and pull out the pill bottle along with the gauze and medical tape. Sure, there were other equivalents to the bandages and adhesives that humans used, but there was just something about these strange, oblong pills that you couldn't replicate no matter how many medicinal plants you gathered.
"You did an amazing job, Hana. Now let me take over," your voice has a softness to it that lightens the mood, reassuring the bright-eyed whelp at your side while also setting your own nerves at ease.
As the pup moves over you take their position, putting a steady amount of pressure over the wound on your friend's leg with one hand. You rip open the package of gauze by using your sharpened nails, hastily pulling out a clump of bandages with the same swift motion. You then lift up your hand covering Kōtarō's wound so that you can place a copious amount of gauze in the area.
Now comes the tricky part.
You have to unfurl the medical tape with one hand while keeping pressure on Kōtarō's leg with the other. The unforgiving stickiness of the tape proves to be quite a formidable opponent for you today. As you struggle with the accursed adhesive, your impertinent spectator shares a proposition that would have enraged you if this tape wasn't already the focal point of your ire.
"You need some help there, princess?" You easily detect the conspicuous undertones of self-assured smugness in the timbre of his voice.
Me? Get help from a human? And why the heck does he keep calling me "princess"? You were disgusted with yourself, but you knew that if there was any situation where you should swallow your pride, this was it.
"Fine, I'll allow it," you spit out in exasperation.
"What was that? I couldn't quite catch what you said," a cheeky grin was forming on the man's face now as he held a hand up to his ear.
Absolutely. Infuriating. This is why you swore off talking with humans. If the situation wasn't so dire you would have slapped that cocky smile right off his gorgeous face. Where does he get off talking to you like that? Wait, gorgeous? How long has it been now since you've found a human genuinely attractive? Nevermind, you have more important things to do.
"You can help," the words meekly escaped your lips. Gone were the twangs of indignation, replaced instead with a humble submissiveness. You knew when to acquiesce. There was no way you'd be able to fix up your friend if you stubbornly held onto your pride.
"Come again? I can help? I guess I technically can," at this point he was practically jeering at you. "Now what do we say when we ask someone for something?"
The incessant taunting was driving you crazy. Your thin veneer of bravado crumbles under the weight of his gibes. You find yourself powerless against the barrage of quips, frustration growing at yourself due to your inability to shoot back an equally sassy retort.
"Can you..." the words were almost trapped in your throat, stifled by the fragile remnants of your bruised ego, "please help?"
"Alright, alright. I've had my fun," the man replied, his expression changing from jovial to serious as he continued on, "I'll handle cutting the medical tape, so you can just focus on keeping up the pressure on the wound."
You nod your head tacitly as you hand over the roll of tape to the man, your full focus now on Kōtarō. Before you know it, the sticky strands are partitioned off and are ready to secure the tightly packed gauze covering Kōtarō's laceration. After a cursory check to make sure the segments would fully wrap around his leg, you thoroughly patted down the tape in order to affix it.
Good, you thought to yourself, only one thing left to do.
You gingerly reach into your satchel and grab the bottle of pills, the glorious ambrosia of the gods that cured many an ailment. You didn't know what exactly was in those curious capsules, but you did know that they were a most reputable remedy that saved your clan members' lives numerous times over the years.
You shake out a few tablets into your hand.
"So those are the pills that cost more than a steak dinner for two?"
You'd almost forgotten that you had an audience today, and a boisterous one at that. As you lift your companion's head up and gently place the medication into his mouth, you look to your left to see this veritable enigma of a man flash you the most audacious smirk you'd ever seen.
"I guess that means I owe you dinner," you were surprised by how brazen and unabashed your words flowed out, "I always pay back my debts."
"It's a date then," a brilliant smile emanating out towards you, a gleaming radiance that comforts your weary nerves, "but, I do think you owe me some sort of explanation first."
And there it is. You let out a heavy sigh as you tenderly comb through the knotted hairs on Kōtarō's head with your fingernails, his body resting comfortably in your lap.
"Sure, let me just get him home first. He's had a very long day." You raise your eyes to meet the steely gaze of the stranger whose name you still don't know.
"Of course, but before you go, my princess," the man implored as he reached out to grab your hand, "can you at least answer one question for me?"
My princess? There he goes again, calling you princess. And what nerve to insinuate that you belong to him. You would normally be furious at the implication that you belonged to someone else, let alone a human, but there was just something about his complete disregard for decorum that ignited your carnal desires. Maybe it was because he reminded you of your old alpha, but no wait what are you thinking? There's no way a human could ever be your superior. That was inconceivable.
"Yes?" you answer in a perplexed tone, lost at sea in the endless ocean of your own thoughts, "What is it you want to know, mister...uh.."
"Kiba," he interjects abruptly, "My name's Kiba Inuzuka."
"Kiba Inuzuka," you repeat to yourself, commiting the name to memory. "So what is it you want to know, mister Inuzuka?"
"You can just call me by my first name, y'know. I don't mind," he responded while covering part of his flushed face with his hand, trying hard to obscure the fact that he was turning beet red. "So what's your name? Unless you don't mind me referring to you as my prin-"
"Izumi," you blurted out before he could finish his sentence. "Call me Izumi."
"Izumi, huh?" he looked off into the distance while still concealing part of his face with his hand. "What a pretty name. It's a pleasure to meet you, miss Izumi."
"Charmed, I'm sure," you say matter-of-factly. "Well, I'd love to stay and chat longer, but I have some pups I need to escort back home. I promise I'll be back as soon as they're safely settled in and squared away. Wolf's honor."
As you beckon Hana and carefully lift Kōtarō's feeble body off the ground you give Kiba a subtle nod, an implied promise of reunion, before setting off.
"I'll be waiting for you with bated breath, my princess Izumi," Kiba whispered to himself while watching the silhouette of your delicate figure slowly fade into the distance.
You'd be positively livid if you weren't so preoccupied. How dare he call you his princess again?
