I have seen a few accounts say even Jimin knew Tae was going to sleep with Junkook because of the statement he said at the restaurant. Paraphrasing here "maybe you will get a stomach bug and hit in the face WHEN you sleep with Junkook". I heard it, noted it, but honestly didn't make much of it. Tae's small smirk was also something I couldn't get a real read on either. Thoughts?

But same thing basically! I am assuming various translations are out there and it doesn't make a difference to my thoughts. I never thought of it like that though! He does seem to imply sleeping next to each other would occur in the future. Ooh.

I may be about to get myself into trouble because I have a vaguely controversial thought on this scene:

I have now heard or been exposed to this elbow story like four or five times. From it being mentioned a lot in AYS, Namjoonie spoiling it, JK possibly mentioning it in his fast forwarded Suchwita section where he talks about the travel show...

For a thing they didn't actually catch on camera, they're really selling it. And there's something off about it. Obviously they're allowed to sleep without cameras but the camera was there for Jimin sitting in front of the fridge so I'm really confused by how they have no footage but keep playing this really weird noise that is supposed to be JK elbowing him and yet sounds like someone throwing something. Like since when does a nose thump sound like a plastic plate being thrown at a wall? It's weird. I don't know if I'm saying the elbow didn't happen or if I'm just wondering why it seems so constructed.

Whichever way, I feel like Tae has a bullshit detector. He's been doing this for a long time, right? He knows all the shenanigans. My controversial thought is that this one moment, the only one in the entire episode, is the moment serious Tae comes out to play. Where he doesn't actually seem that amused by it and his laugh doesn't quite reach his eyes. His "really? Why?" is in a serious tone that doesn't actually seem like his mood for the rest of the episode. It's the only time I think he's having to participate in a narrative and he's not here for it.

I also wonder if it's annoying being told what it's like to sleep with your own boyfriend. 😶 (Edit to clarify: Not the actual act of sleeping in same bed being annoying, that's standard by now)

Kiss Kiss Fall into another old hyperfixation

Anyway, I randomly wanted to redesign the main cast of Ouran in my style/ with headcanons and my own embellishments

Here's a screenshot redraw, I'll put all the redesigns below the break bc I did all the main characters & wanna talk about the choices I made. Also I made up that uniform redesign on the spot bc I when I was doing the characters I just put them in casual clothes lmao

(I might do some others later, like Renge, Kasanoda, Yasuchika, Benibara, etc.)

Going in order of my least favorite to top favorite. And dont mind that I didn't color the clothes, that's not whats important here lmao

Mori is only at the bottom because I don't like the drawing that much, I still think the design is pretty good. Though, like right when I finished coloring, I decided a bun/top-knot would look better so it's a bit disappointing there. In my head, Mori is kind of struggling to figure out who he is & what he wants to do, which is why he follows Honey around and doesn't talk much. He does genuinely like being around the other hosts though.

Also, the undercut because A) he has the reputation for being the scary one & it kinda suits that, B) uh do I even have to say it? ...its hot He does lowkey look like Sokka from Avatar tho, especially with the blue accents

Honey is next because again I think the drawing itself is a little off and the design is pretty close to Basil from Omori, which i didn't notice until it was too late lmao. One of the main things I didn't like about his character in the show was obviously how childlike he was & how girls still flirted with him even though he looked and acted 6; So now he still acts a bit childish but doesn't play it up as much & definitely has a more normal voice, not a fckn child's.

Haruhi! I definitely had to keep her glasses cuz they were really cute and kinda sold the whole 'commoner' thing in a way. But other than that I mainly wanted to balance out her femininity and masculinity to make her more androgynous/nonbinary/gender-fluid since she definitely has some of that going on in the show as is. I also gave her dark circles under her eyes to kinda show that she worked really hard to get into Ouran with low status.

Next up is Tamaki of course, getting into the characters I'm most happy with the designs of. One small thing I tried to do for each of them was give them varying hair tones; so even though Honey and Tamaki are both blond, I went very platinum-blond with him. When I started drawing him, my only real thought was "he has to be a pretty boy" so I dont have much to say about my choices, but i do think I succeeded. Don't mind the modern mullet thing, I can't stop it

Kyouya is definitely one of my favorite characters as is, seeing as he has one of the more fleshed out & heart-wrenching backstories in the show. I think the only thing I really wanted to change was getting rid of the Anime Bangs, so I just gave him this kinda sleek, kinda messy pushed-back look with a blue tint. Even though it's simple, I really struggled to come up with anything, until I found a page from the author saying smth like "I don't like the idea of him wearing neat clothes" with a picture of him in like a track suit so I did kinda the same outfit

My absolute #1 favorites, Hikaru & Kauru. They're honestly the ones that started it all because Kauru has been my favorite since I first saw the halloween episode (iykyk).

I don't know why, but I wanted their hair to be fluffier/curly and more of a natural(?) ginger color. I knew I wanted Kauru's to be redder and Hikaru's a bit lighter/blonder, but only subtly. I also gave Kauru a scar on his cheek from that time in Karuizawa, but most notably, I gave them blue and pink eyes as their signature colors. Lastly, their expressions are slightly different, because no matter how much they are in sync and try to match each other perfectly, Kauru's a much gentler soul than Hikaru, so I made Hikaru's smile a bit more snarky while Kauru's is soft.

So now he’s stuck living in a cave with an adolescent, grumpy dragon who doesn’t seem to want him there but still won’t let him go. Not to mention his annoying habit of defeating every suitor who tries to come rescue Lance.

As much as he hates to admit it, he’s probably going to be here for a while. So he might as well settle in and get to know this dragon named Keith.

i accidentally lied last week this one is the last one from my rereadables collection. and for good reason!! dragon beauty and the beast tbh. and wittyy-name ALWAYS nails the complicated i-love-you-and-feel-trapped-by-you, complicated relationships kind of thing. and i fckn love it so so much

this one is so cute they are so in love u know?? they just like to be around each other. always a fun read. vulpes is very good at klance with a crush on each other regardless of whether they’re already dating lol

HUNK AND LANCE HUNK AND LANCE HUNK AND LANCE. we do NOT have enough of it in this here fandom, ESPECIALLY prekerb, early relationship, and what a shame! i have always loved this fic’s exploration of their relationship and the ways they had to learn to grow into themselves, the starts and explanations for the way they were when we saw them. i love them

4. With These Hands by @azapofinspiration

Despite all the trouble they'd been through, Hunk figured everything had turned out all right. After all, he and Lance had managed to return to the castle!

Then Hunk sees the bruises and knows that things are not as good as he thought.

bro a-zap has always KILLED early season dynamics and their missing moments series is everything!! ive always needs three hundred percent more context on the mermaid episode and this fic provides not only that but also some excellent hunk & lance moments, with hurt/comfort that isnt imbalanced or infantilizing on either paladin’s part which is a low bar but awesome anyway 

5. Not As Clueless by @azapofinspiration

Pidge had always thought it was strange that despite being quite observant, Lance had completely missed the fact that she was a girl. However, it seems that that wasn’t really the case.

from the same series i just mentioned! lance IS observant, thank you very much, and i loved this take and interpretation. as much as lance does have a tendency to be dense about things, he also tends to be very observant bc hes a walking dichotomy. he notices things but his conclusions are often different than what others would make, and this entire concept is nailed in like 1.5k words

many thanks to @chiaroscuroverspn for seeing me post about how i wished i knew where the ad breaks were and checked their DVR recording to look up the timing marks. once i knew roughly where they were it was so easy to see where those ad breaks are bc of the longer cuts to black between shots/scenes. (incidentally, they seem to be right before chapters 4, 5, 7 & 8 on the DVD)

* please note that i didn't add the runtime of the ad breaks to the timing marks since 99% of ppl will be watching it without ads and i didn't have the exact time for how long each ad break ran so i didn't want to throw things off

Sooo.. What actually was Mhoks character growth?

I’m still thinking about the last episode and why there had to be a time skip.

I mean it’s kinda obvious. To skip right to the character growth with minimal effort or time spend on it.

And because we really see absolutely nothing as to how Mhok has changed, we have to analyze his actions in the episode to figure it out ourselves. But even there I ran into the trouble of not really seeing any real changes in his behavior. Not from Mhok or Day, even tho at least we where shown some scenes from his life while they were apart.

The first thing that I found weird was how Mhok still treats Day as if he was his caretaker (which Night even comments on). Bc in ep. 11 that’s what the show told us needs to be overcome for them to be in a happy equal relationship. Even the mom said there is a difference between being a partner and being a caretaker. And bc the mom was pardoned and made a fckn relationship guru in this episode, that has to be important right? (No seriously f the mom and spoilers.. nothing this ep sets up is gonna be important urgh)

Then there is the whole flirting, Mhok perusing and Day mildly rejecting the advances. The same dynamic that they had before they got together.

So kinda nothing new.

But it’s just so weird to me how I really can’t make out a change in Mhok at all but he still seemed so ooc to me this episode.

So why is that?

Is it the fact that Mhok just went right in again, flirting after literal 3 years of break up and zero communication as if nothing really happened?

That you are supposed to believe these characters had some actual character growth but nothing was shown and then they just act the same?

That the conflict they had was so poorly handled, it kinda made me sick.

For not adressing Mhoks issues at all.

Or that the issue that the show wants me to believe was the cause of their break up, which was that Day thought he was holding Mhok back and therefore he led him go, was never resolved and in the end that’s exactly what happened again for them to be together. Mhok wanting to staying in Thailand for Day, instead of having a great career, was what the fight apparently was all about and in the end he just quit that same job and stayed in Thailand for their relationship. Good job narrative 👏👏

Ok but back to the actual question. What actually was Mhoks character growth now? What where the 3 years working alone in Hawaii supposed to be for?

One thing that did stand out to me, that was kinda different, was that Mhok seemed more invasive in his flirting than in the beginning. Like how he groped Day while trying on the suits. Or how he shushed him when asking if Day is seeing someone new.

Maybe Mhoks Growth is that he respects his own wishes now more, that he goes for what he really wants without holding back.

Like when Day tells him they not gonna get back together and at first he does what he is told and leaves ( just like he left when Day fired him or wenn Day broke up with him) but now he turns back and goes to confront Day again. Not accepting Days rejection this time and going for what he wants instead.

Which I find kinda iffy bc of course it seemed to be ok, bc we know that Day also wants to be with him. But the groping, the disregard of personal space or boundaries, it just doesn’t feel like green flag Mhok to me. I’m happy that for once he seemed to fight for what he wants but how the show handles that just seems so poorly executed.

There was such a good story to be told about Mhoks grief and how he feels so responsible for his sisters death and they just dropped it to make him more of a plot device for Days story. I really wish we could have had Mhok finding new friends and family and purpose in Hawaii, or in his life in general. Bc how the story is written, Mhok still only has a desire to be with Day. Day still being his one and only priority even after 3 years. As if he was not really living, just working and waiting for the chance to get back together and nothing else. You can actually write a character building a new better life and finding a purpose, but still miss and love someone. I think that takes nothing away from the love, in my opinion it makes it even more powerful.

Sorry if this is annoying lmao I'm just a weird nerd being a weird nerd. Please drop any weird Jordan Li parallels you've seen in other fandoms or other rants about characters you love in the replies. Be a weird nerd with me.

But! My biggest fandom is Sailor Moon, and I can't stop thinking about Sailor Neptune/Marie and Sailor Uranus/Jordan. Ignoring the obvious, there's a few things that really make me think limoreau.

i will be putting spoilers for sailor moon, mainly the third arc

the lore around the outers and their 'cosmic purpose' or whatever is very interesting to me. so they are basically like lone watchmen, destined to patrol the outer circles of our solar system. Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto hold the keys to destroying an entire world if its ever necessary (the ability that saturn has, they like... can summon her? create her? idk im still a lil iffy on that part. but like they each have a thing, put the things together, saturn becomes a human death star.) so like big duty! big responsibility! They take it very seriously.

(all of this is from mainly e106 09:44 - 18:20 ish. I watch the viz dub if anyones curious :) )

either way, what makes me think of limoreau is the fact that neptune discovers her destiny first. she accepts the device, she becomes a guardian. (marie accepts the truth and wants to be a real hero, its practically forced upon her with her history and whatnot). she is the one who comes to haruka and like tells her about her destiny. shes like 'this is not easy, dont do this if ur not ready' and then saves her life and seeing michiru's heroism and dedication (and her love for haruka :) ) and then he chooses to become a guardian. (which just gives me strong 'fuck the rankings' vibes)

There's a scene right before this where they talk about the end of the world and it has gala scene vibes.

But what's the most interesting is the fact that unlike a lot of the other characters, they have very little doubt in their relationship and their choices. They move as a unit because they are united in purpose. Neptune is never doubtful of Uranus and she understands Uranus well. Even Mamo and Usagi have multiple moments of doubt and they are like super destined by fate or whatever

So to me, they are the strongest couple. And it's the undercurrent of devotion to duty that really really reminds me of limoreau. I really view the entirety of season one as matching up with those 10 minutes of backstory. And then imagining that like end of season 1 limoreau as the START of season 3 harukaxmichiru and then how would Jordan and Marie react to fckn sailor moon like jenfkdjdjskndbh the episode with Usagi and Haruka being chained together is one of my all time faves and like... Jordan would act the same. I think it was that that convinced me that Haruka and Jordan match up better than Seiya and Jordan.

And then Neptune. She's kind, sweet, and yet unrelenting. Teasing and serious, driven by duty. Idk she's a very enigmatic character, just like Marie imo? But idk dhjdjdhshksj I need to do some more thinking about Marie.

Anyways, that's my unhinged rant.

I mean, so far this month I:

discovered I'm likely mildly neurospicy (I think I was the last one to work this out, out of all who know me)

went nocturnal (still haven't fixed that)

had a bastard of a depressive episode (haters will say this was linked to being nocturnal) which promptly ended when I decided I was bored of/generally done with pretending I'm not fckn phenomenal -- because low self esteem just gets tedious eventually and I'm bored of wasting both time and energy on it.

properly came out in select circles as being on the ace spectrum -- which I've suspected for a fckn loooong while (the fact that I promptly lose any attraction I have to celebrity crushes upon meeting them IRL, regardless of how lovely and exceptional they are to me, and how much platonic admiration remains should've been the big hint), and I have been worried about responses to my fully acknowledging it because it's one of Those Things that people are like? Almost "allowed" to acceptably be cunts about compared to other ways folk identify. but like, see previous point. fuck 'em. did not help that my attempts to date all ended so disastrously in my early 20s that I chalked any loss of attraction up to "well I mean he's an actual psychopath so I was bound to lose enthusiasm when that made itself clear" than anything else, so I had to gauge it by the whole celebrity thing instead.

(but also double kudos to the reader who recently commented on the CTW smut scenes like 'huh y'know what this reads really well to me as an ace person' because that had me fckn screaming like YEAH HUH WELL THAT MATCHES UP WITH SOMETHING I'VE BEEN PONDERING FOR A DECADE)
