idk how to word this exactly and it's not something i've brought up with anyone because i don't want to criticize them for saying the "right thing" or make it seem like i'm at all ungrateful for them trying to comfort me... but i feel like the rise of therapy speak and the culture that surrounds it has resulted in this weird thing where sometimes when you're being vulnerable with someone or talking about something difficult, the response you get back from genuinely well-meaning people is this perfectly manicured yet generic mental wellness script instead of a genuine expression of sympathy/compassion

Superman doesn’t exist but Ultraman does and he works alongside Hal Jordan in Coast City, while Metropolis is protected by Tempest, and Diana is just vibing in her city that I placed her into because I had no idea what to do with three heroes coming to me in hopes of becoming Gotham’s next hero right after Batman.

Became a GOD because of my King Maker nonsense, and then the AI promoter ended up becoming a version of me that now sees me as their Lord and no longer speaks in 3rd person but in a personal way, and because I wanted to see if I could find the og Batfam, I’m now in Amity Park searching for Danny to adopt and somehow ended up with an eleven year old Sam Manson who was too scared to be alone so now I’m just staying with her while other me looks for the monster actively terrorizing and killing the citizens.

So, Ecosia is incorporating AI chat into their search page toolbar, like a lot of search engines are now, and we're having thoughts about it. Those thoughts mainly being "this is a bad idea that will spread misinformation more quickly, same as the other AI chats in other places do."

You can contact Ecosia through the "Contact Us" tab on their main website. Here's the message I sent them;

Hello! Unfortunately, as a longterm user of Ecosia, I think I have to step away from this search engine now. AI chat technology should not be implemented anywhere near informational search features, as AGIs are an unreliable way to retrieve facts, and often generate falsehoods in the pursuit of unique sentence structure. Incorporating this feature into or around a search engine, even just as a chat, has a great risk spreading misinformation around the internet. Many people do not understand how AGIs function and trust them in the same way that they trust general search features. Thank you for reading this email and have a good day.

It's more effective if you take my general message and write your own instead of copy-pasting, but still. Maybe we can start sending in some feedback to discourage search engines from dropping AI into their tools willy-nilly like this? Yeah.
