#what happens if you put a vape in carry-on

childhood friends danny and jason miscellaneous thoughts: because why not, i'm reworking ch2 because it no longer fits with the remaster of chapter 1 so i've been thinking of them, and i love talking about them. which you should totally go read the remaster because its 26k words and im very proud of it and it barely got any attention.

First off Ellie vapes. Mostly because I think its real fucking funny. The first time Danny finds out about it he gets all up in arms about it. Ellie at first thinks its because she's smoking -- which, helloooo pot meet kettle, Danny has been smoking for a lot longer than she has.

And then he throws a curveball at her and says he's upset specifically because its vaping. Like no, no. Dammit, if you're gonna fuck up your lungs you gotta do it properly, none of this cotton-candy flavored nonsense.

He plays it up for laughs and it's largely non-serious 'i can't believe you're using a vape', if only to hide the fact that he is genuinely displeased with his little sister smoking. Self-destructive behaviors and bad habits are his thing, thank you very much.

But, well, he knows he'd be a hypocrite if he told her he didn't like that she was smoking. He's aware its bad for him, but habits are hard to break and he's not particularly keen to break this one in particular.

Danny bullies her relentlessly about it whenever she vapes in front of him. Like don't be a loser, Elle, carry a carton of cigs and a lighter in your back pocket like the rest of us degenerates.

Secondly: Danny's piercings? He got the first lobe piercings as a lost bet from Sam in junior year, and they did it in her room with a needle, a small bottle of blood blossom extract, and an apple. He broke out in hives for a week after thanks to the blood blossom, but it prevented the hole from healing up :)

He got the rest done professionally at a piercing place in the Ghost Zone. He asked Johnny where to find it. Sam and Johnny (and Kitty) nearly convinced him into getting snakebites. He got an eyebrow piercing instead.

Danny's undercut is also self-done, he did it because Technus shot at him with an ectoblast and it missed hitting him, but set his hair on fire. Danny got it out pretty quickly, but it left his hair lopsided and obviously looking like it got burned by something. He went to Sam for help after the fight. He liked the way it looks so he's kept it that way since.

Vlad brought up Jason once(1) in a taunt during a fight, and this was after Jason disappeared from the ghost zone, and Danny very. very nearly killed him on the spot. He hasn't done it since.

Which leads into the other thing: Grief Triggers! As I call them. All Banshees have them in this au.

While all banshees are, in general, in a permanent state of grief, Grief Triggers are a specific emotional response that can cause them to spiral into a state of intense, sometimes debilitating sorrow, and most of the time causes them to start wailing.

Banshees know what their Grief Triggers are and in general tend to try and build up a form of resistance against it so that, if something occurs that happens to trigger said grief, they can at least either get away from other ghosts to let loose or have enough control over themselves that it'll take more work to send them spiraling.

As expected, Jason is Danny's grief trigger. He's built up a pretty good resistance to it so that hey, talking about him and his death is easier than when Danny was fourteen. But a little more prodding and it will trigger, especially depending on who brings him up and how. (See: Vlad)

Grief Triggers also manifest relatively the same; with the induction of an intense state of grief and sorrow, but how a banshee acts on it can sometimes vary. Again, it depends on who triggers it and how. Some of them can get,,, violent, depending on how it happens.

Rath, this au's 'Dan', is a case of a banshee being put into the grief state caused by grief triggers and... never really leaving it. Which they usually do on their own, or with help depending on the severity of it.

At the time it happened Danny was going through the worst week of his life a second time: his best friend's ghost disappeared, then his family and friends all died right in front of him, and then he was stuck with someone who wasn't helping him through that grief.

He was already in the grieving state when Vlad tore out his ghost half. As a result, Vlad only made it worse. With that fury thrown into the mix, Vlad ended up getting torn apart and nobody else was close enough with nor could they get close enough to Rath to help him come down from the wailing state.

So Rath ended up getting stuck in a perpetual negative feedback loop of absolute misery, and well... drove himself insane. The rest of the world became collateral as a result.

the difference between Danny and Jason lies in the fact that Jason died, while Danny is dead.

I'm having more thoughts on the CFAU/TMWS universe banshees, actually.

Banshees are either born in the ghost zone from ectoplasm and are ecto-entities and work as banshees as how we know of them, or they're human spirits that died mourning someone and that grief was so intense that it turned them into a banshee. They're a little more rare.

These banshees typically mourn only one person, or sometimes they follow their Realm-born counterparts and choose a family to mourn for. Typically their own.

Ember is not a banshee; human spirit banshees are always mourning another person. However, her abilities emulate certain qualities of banshees: like the beautiful singing. But in comparison to an actual banshee, Ember's voice pales.

Does this mean Danny has the better singing voice? Yeah. Ember is incensed by this.

If canon Danny and CFAU/TMWS Danny met, I think canon Danny would be kinda unsettled or off put by CFAU.

CFAU Danny still has some pretty core Danny traits, at least I like to think so -- his general drive to help people just out of compassion for them (even if it manifests differently at first due to trauma), his wit and humor, his fear of failing to protect his loved ones, all of those resonate with canon Danny.

However, canon Danny, as far as I can remember and as far as his wiki goes, rarely gets extremely angry or emotional. He gets irritated and he gets annoyed but him getting mad I don't think happens super often. CFAU Danny is the angrier one between Jason and Danny. It's one of the things I consider a division point between him and canon Danny as it's a result of him growing up in Crime Alley. Canon Danny is canonically shy and meek prior to becoming Phantom, CFAU Danny couldn't be -- he'd be dead already.

CFAU Danny's anger would off put canon Danny, in my opinion. His anger, his smoking, and for lack of a better term, his bloodlust would unsettle him.

Like, for example, say CFAU Danny gets transported to a canon (or canon-adjacent) Danny's universe. He's staying with canon for a little bit as they brainstorm how to get him back home, and CFAU Danny goes to school with canon if only so that he's not stuck in the house all day.

Whether they try and pass CFAU Danny off as canon's cousin or if the town already knows that he's another version of Danny, it doesn't matter. Because insert Dash.

Dash who, in CFAU Danny's world, has since learned not to fuck around with Danny or the other kids because Danny has long since asserted that he will beat his ass if he does. 'Fucking around' always predates the 'finding out', and Danny is happy to act as consequence.

(As my father told me (paraphrased) when I was a small child and full of uncontrollable anger: "there's gonna be a day where you're gonna hit someone, and they're gonna hit you back")

And canon Dash, who is used to canon Danny who kinda just takes it because it means that he won't target other people, would see CFAU Danny. He'd notice the resemblance between him and canon, immediately try and go "oh new target!", and try and bully him the same way he does to canon. And Danny "I am the consequences of your actions" CFAU Fenton, instantly throws hands.

Just, CFAU Danny is kind but he's also Gotham-raised and full of bite; he's meaner than canon is. He's more ruthless too, especially in his ghost fights. The ease of which he slips into violence would, imo, discomfort canon. CFAU and Canon would eventually get along though, they're not so different that they'd be in constant clash of each other.

I laid down on the couch, staring up at the ceiling as it swirled around, different colors everywhere. I smiled and laughed, the colors making weird shapes. "What are you laughing at?" I heard JJ's voice but I didn't care. She had never seen me like this and I was too stoned to care.

"Look at the shapes."

"What shapes?" She looked up at the ceiling, not seeing anything. "Are you ok baby?" She touched my shoulder and it felt like my skin was tingling under her touch, I leaned into her for more, her touch feeling euphoric.

"I'm great." I wrapped my arms around her waist and buried my face into the side of her leg as she stood next to the couch.

"What's happening?"

"Love you so much."

"I love you too baby." She reached down to pet my hair before kneeling down next to me. She wrinkled her nose once she smelt my breath. "What...oh my God. Are you high?" She shot up, her eyebrows raising in shock.

"What?"

"You're high!" She started laughing, putting her hand over her mouth. "Is this your first time being high?"

"No." I smiled up at her and made grabby hands, wanting the tingly feeling of her on my skin again. "Come back." She grabbed my hands and pulled me up, kissing me hard on the lips with a smile. "Do that again please."

"I didn't know you smoked weed." She whispered with a big smile.

"I do." I hugged her as tight as possible, relaxing against her body. "Is that weird?"

"No...no it's not I just never thought you would be one to do that." She held me against her tightly, stroking my hair.

"It makes me fuzzy."

"I can tell." She kissed the top of my head, I could imagine her smiling in my mind and it made me so happy. "Why are you so weirded out by me being high?"

"You just...I mean we've only been dating a few months and I guess I just never imagined that you'd be the kind of person to do it. I thought you were an innocent little baby." She kissed my temple, practically holding me up as I leaned my full body weight against her.

"Well...I'm not an innocent little baby." I giggled into her neck. "In bed...yes-"

"Oh my God shut up." She giggled, messing up my hair. "I'm gonna take you up to bed though, ok? It's getting late."

"Are you staying over?" I asked excitedly, wrapping my arms around her neck as she picked me up bridal style, carrying me

up my stairs into my bedroom.

"Of course I'm staying over babe."

"You're so nice. I love you so much." I made grabby hands for her once again as she laid me down in bed.

"I'll be back in a minute honey. I'm gonna brush my teeth and change into something more comfy."

"But I want you." She blushed.

"If you're always this cuddly while you're high I definitely want to see this more often." She kissed my forehead. "I'll be right back. Don't worry and don't go anywhere." I pouted but stayed where I was.

She came back five minutes later, pulling me on top of her while she laid on her back. I smiled happily and hummed, my brain going fuzzy as she left loving scratches on my back. "I love you so much baby." I blushed, my entire face turning red. It seemed like every compliment and every touch from her was intensified and it was almost overwhelming but I welcomed it.

"I love you too."

Las Vegas police on Tuesday arrested eight teenagers on murder charges in connection with the death of Jonathan Lewis, a 17-year-old who was pummeled by a mob of his classmates in an alley outside their high school, authorities said.

The eight suspects charged with murder are between 13 and 17 years old, said Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jason Johansson in a news conference on Tuesday. Police along with the district attorney's office are beginning the process to charge them as adults. Johansson added that there's no evidence indicating the attack was "a hate crime."

On Nov. 1, students from Rancho High School, including Jonathan, met in an alley just across the street from the campus to fight over "stolen wireless headphones and, possibly, a stolen marijuana vape pen," Johansson said. Police believe the items were stolen from Jonathan's friend but once they were all in the alley, it was Jonathan who fought instead.

Johansson said as soon as the first punch was thrown, 10 people swarmed Jonathan, pulled him to the ground and began kicking, punching and stomping him.

After the fight, a passerby found the teenager unconscious in the alley and carried him to the school, where staff performed CPR. First responders rushed him to the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada, where it was soon determined that he had suffered "non-survivable head trauma," Johansson said. Jonathan died several days later.

Police search for two more suspects, ask public for help

Videos of the incident – called "extremely disturbing" and "void of humanity" by police officials – circulated social media and were used by investigators to identify eight of the 10 suspects. On Tuesday, police and the FBI coordinated arrests of the eight students and executed search warrants at nine homes throughout Las Vegas. Johansson said clothing worn by teenagers in the video and cellphones were recovered.

Las Vegas police will be releasing photos of the remaining suspects and urged the public to assist investigators in identifying them. Johansson asked that people submit footage of the incident to police and called on parents to speak with their children about the videos, which have been shared widely across multiple social media platforms.

"If you're a mentor with youth, if you're a parent, you have to assume that your kids have seen this video ... don't put your head in the sand," Johansson said. "Please talk with your kids about it and explain – people need to know right from wrong and that this act was heinous."

Jonathan's father seeks 'deeper justice'

Jonathan Lewis Sr., an electrician who lives in Austin, Texas, said his son was "a hero" who stuck up for his friend.

"That's just the kind of person he was," Lewis, 38, told USA TODAY. He described his son as an avid hip-hop fan who liked to make digital art.

Lewis said when he got the phone call that Jonathan was attacked and in the hospital, he could "could barely walk."

His family arranged to get him a flight to Las Vegas, where he and Jonathan's mother stayed at their son's bedside for days. During that time, they started planning a foundation that would address youth violence issues through counseling, mentorships and after-school programs.

Lewis created a website for the foundation, Team Jonathan, and is beginning to work on what he hopes becomes a nonprofit that'll prevent incidents like what happened to his son.

"Justice is a much much deeper issue to me than these children go to prison," Lewis said. "This is an all-encompassing issue that involves all of humanity and how we behave and the lack of empathy and compassion that we have. I just feel like my son's legacy deserves a deeper justice."

"Hey..." You cautiously said, sitting in front of him. Why were you so nervous? Sure this is the first time you two had been alone together but still. You didn't think he'd still have this effect on you after so long.

"You came. Finally. The project says we have to do ancient Sumeru, specifically the desert. Think you can handle that?" He finally looked up at you, a smug smile tugs at his lips; then all of a sudden poof. Nervousness gone. Of course, he was still a cocky arsehole in private. You scoffed at his comment, reaching for your bag to pull out your laptop,

"Of course...need I remind you that my grades in this class are higher than yours? Geez you should be thanking me for the carry." He looked back at his laptop before groaning in annoyance,

"Please don't say that...Just do the work." And so you did. For the next three hours, you worked in silence. Oddly, it was nice, comforting even. The relaxed sounds of typing and occasional comments or questions from either of you. It felt...comfortable. Before you guys had released it it had already passed 6, meaning it was time to call it quits. You finally looked away, leaning back and stretching your arms up,

"That was good Scaramouche. We got a lot done" He hummed in response, grabbing his bag to put away his laptop and grab a pouch of tobacco to roll a cigarette. You scoffed,

"Smoking...really? I thought you hated that stuff?" His gaze never met yours as he continued to roll,

"Well, a lot changed from back then. And don't pretend I don't see a vape next to your laptop Y/N"

"Point proven I suppose...Still so much did change...Why did you leave back then" He finishes rolling in silence, still looking down he sighs,

"My mum's sister died. We left. That's all you need to know" He stands up abruptly pushing the

Cigarette into his mouth and grabbing his bags. 

“Wait, youre going to leave…just like that?!” He turns away, 

“See you next week…Y/N”

“My god youre such an ass!” You groan, you can almost feel his smirk.

“Keep acting angry… it's almost cute.” And with that, he was gone. And you were left alone in the library to ponder what the fuck just happened.

Prompt by @ashboy-3 : It’s that time of year again! The Annual Fenton Reunion! And it’s the first year Danny can’t escape it since high school. How is he going to hide his ghost powers around all these Fentons?

Danny was screwed. He fidgeted with a loose string on his seatbelt. His family was on their way to the Annual Fenton Family Reunion, and he had no excuses to get out of it. This year, his parents didn’t tell him it was happening. They just had Danny and Jazz pack bags and load into the GAV.

As the labeled pavilion came into view, Danny sighed. This was going to be a disaster. Danny is going to set off every single ghost sensor as soon as he steps out of the RV. Nausea set in as his mom put the vehicle in park. Jazz must’ve noticed his worry and reached out to offer a little bit of comfort. Danny gave her a small smile before stepping out of the RV.

It was like a symphony of horrendous beeping noise. The stares of his cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents all focused on the source. There was a terrifying level of silence, especially for a Fenton gathering. Danny felt sick with all the eyes that were glued onto him. Jack Fenton broke the silence.

“Oh dear, I forgot to warn you all!” his loud voice carried across the picnic tables, “Remember when Danno had that accident a while back? Whatever happened caused our sensors to sometimes react to him. Don’t worry! Our son is still human as ever and not overshadowed! We can program your tech to ignore him!”

Everyone slowly resumed what they were doing. Danny still felt awkward, but mustered a quick ‘thanks dad’ to his father. After the chatter fully resumed, Danny relaxed a little and headed towards the food.

“Hey, Danny, long time no see!” Now there’s a voice he hasn’t heard in a while. Danny turned to see his cousin Connor, who was slightly older than Danny. He was tall with broad shoulders, characteristic of a Fenton. Danny noticed that his cousin added a few piercings since the last time he saw him. The halfa cracked a grin.

“Hey! Yeah it has! It’s been like what, three years?”

“Yeah because somebody kept getting sick,” Connor teased. The two started catching up. Danny told Connor about his plans for college. Connor recalled his parent’s reactions to his career choice in graphic design.

“You woulda thought our dog just died. I swear, they were so upset. Like, ‘Oh you’re gay? That’s fine! We love you!’, but ‘Oh you don’t want to be a ghost hunter? You’re kicked out of the house.’”

Danny gave an awkward laugh before his face fell.

“Yeah… I know how that feels. My parents were a little disappointed when I told them I wanted to be an astrophysicist, but they still love and support me. There’s other parts of my life that I’m afraid to tell them though.”

Connor nodded in understanding. The two continued talking until Danny’s ghost sense went off.

“Since when do you vape?”

Danny was about to answer when he was interrupted by the sounds of ecto-scanners going off. Everyone pulled out ecto-guns, wrist rays, and even full Fenton bazookas seemingly out of nowhere. Danny glanced around looking for the ghost he sensed, praying to whoever would listen that it was just Boxy or someone.

“Well, well, well, what have we here? Humans in possession of large quantities of ectoplasm? That’s against the rules,” fog rolled in as Walker made his entrance.

“No offense, but isn’t the Realm of the Living a little out of your jurisdiction?” Danny quipped before thinking.

“Ah, whelp, I thought I’d find you here. Unfortunately for your family, ectoplasm is property of the Infinite Realms, and therefore, becomes my business.” The sound of blasters firing up interrupted Walker’s monologue.

“GET AWAY FROM MY CHILD YOU SPOOKY SPECTER!” Jack Fenton’s voice rang out through the park. Maddie stood next to him, bazooka aimed directly at Walker.

“Threatening the law enforcement, that’s against the rules. Arrest them!” Walker’s goons came and tried to grab Danny’s relatives. They should have known better than to mess with a large group of Fentons. The sound of a wrist ray signaled the start of an all-out brawl.

Picnic tables flipped and broke from people and ghosts crashing into them. Grandpa’s toupee was cast onto the ground after it caught on fire. The cupcakes were destroyed and used as diversions. While his family dealt with the goons, Danny dealt with Walker.

“Hey, Walker, do you want to know a fun fact about my family?” Walker grunted, Danny took this as a sign to continue.

“If you bring a ghost to a Fenton Family Reunion, it’s like kicking a beehive!”

With a shit-eating grin, Danny fired an ecto-gun at the poor warden’s face. After the goons were stored in someone’s thermos, the rest of the family turned to join the fight.

It was like a pinata at a child’s birthday party. The Fentons, all armed with Fenton Anti-Creep Sticks ™, smacked around the poor ghost until he was unable to attack anymore. Danny popped open his Fenton Thermos ™ . With a bright blue light, Walker swirled into the device. Danny smiled.

“I told you it was like kicking a beehive.”

He received a groan of frustration in return.

“Well that was an eventful day,” Connor sighed. They had just finished cleaning up the mess from the attack.

“I’ll say. At least the drinks in the cooler were spared,” Danny stated as he pulled the tab on a can of pop.

“You did pretty good out there. I saw you take on the leader.” A small smile creeped onto Danny’s face.

“Yeah?” Connor nodded before stroking his chin.

“Although… it’s kinda weird how you knew the ghost’s name. Come to think of it, didn’t it call you ‘whelp’ or something?”

Danny’s mind went through three options: lie, half-truth, or full-truth. Half-truth was probably the safest bet.

“Yeah… don’t tell my parents this, but I kinda got curious one day and started exploring the Ghost Zone,” Connor’s eyes widened, “Which I know is stupid! But, it turns out the Ghost Zone is pretty cool. There’s a lot of different cultures and people. Some are friendly, others, like Walker, are not.”

“That’s…cool?” The horn from the RV, as well as the yelling from Jack Fenton interrupted them.

“COME ON DANNO! WE GOTTA HIT THE ROAD BEFORE IT GETS DARK!”

“Well, it was nice catching up!” Danny smiled at his cousin.

“You’re right. Hopefully I’ll see you next year?”

“Yep. See you then!”

The two parted ways.

Danny watched as the pavilion disappeared from his view. It was nice seeing his family again, even if the ghosts interrupted. Speaking of… why did Danny feel like he was forgetting something?

for like, idk maybe for like four months i’ve been pissed off at my friend, FOR GOOD REASON BRO I SWEAR! so when i was still doing uni (studying in film for whoever wanted to know, and somehow graduated idea bro that was the big man upstairs doing me a solid for once), me and my friend went on break and walked around the city doing fuck knows what, cause that’s what uni students do ig. she was bored, and i was bored, so i was like “hey! wanna go see my favourite store? sells cool shit” (by cool shit, i mean cool clothing and jewellery and other neat lil nick nacks) and she said “sure id love to!”.

now a thing about my friend is that she likes to steal. actively steal. both because she thinks it’s fun and because she can’t afford what she wants sometimes cause she spends most her money on vapes and weed and a bunch of other psychedelics. before we entered the store, i made her promise not to steal, cause i love and respect the fuck out of this store and i’ve wanted to work there since i was fifteen (and i’m now twenty). she said she promised and swore she wouldn’t take anything, and me being a fucking hopeful and trusting dumb fuck, believed her. now i saw this really sick hoodie, where it was basically a cropped hoodie (STAY WITH ME ON THIS) but it was made to look like a rib cage, so it was fucking cool. the owner sold it to me for 45 bucks, but the hoodie originally costed 55 bucks, so she took ten bucks off cause i fell in love with this hoodie, so i got real fucking hyped and thanked her profusely. now, this is a key thing to remember, cause the tags they used were airtags. the type of tags where it needed to be unlocked with a type of pin at the front desk. otherwise you can’t take that shit off, unless you got scissors (this is also important).

so my friend went into the change room with a BUNCH of clothes, and i waited near the front and had small talk with the store owner, asking if it’s been busy, slow, shit like that. i noticed that my friend is taking a long fucking time, so i go to check on her and ask if she’s good, and she said yes, paused then asked “hey coyote? do you have any scissors in your bag? i need it for my nails”

now this is where a lot of my guilt comes in, cause i genuinely didn’t realise my mistake until it was too late. i said yeah in my bag (which was in the change room with her) and she said thanks. i always carry scissors on me cause i like to scrap book, and if i see anything interesting i cut it out and sample it to put into my sketch book so i get inspired for any future projects.

after like another ten minutes she finally comes out, but i notice two things. the first was that there were significantly less clothes than when she walked into the change rooms with, and the second thing was noticing something sticking out of her pocket.

SHE CUT THE FUCKING TAGS OFF WHEN I TOLD HER NOT TO FUCKING STEAL. SHE EVEN PROMISED ME MULTIPLE TIMES TOO!!!!

Okay so- we all start showing up and one of my cousins who we haven't heard from in months shows up and turns out her and her long term bf split up a while ago but she was too scared to move out, so my aunt (her mum) has been drinking a lil too much and starts yelling about why didn't you come home and then mid lecture throwsup all over my cousin. About half an hour later cousins brother shows up with his girlfriend whose covered in tattoos and piercings and has red hair (lovely girl), and I'm sat with my grandad and he pulled SUCH A FACE before looking at me and saying "don't you ever go doing that bloody mess to yourself" while I'm sat there with 3 tattoos and 8 piercings myself 😶. Granddad's usually amazing and I love him bit he's so old fashioned and showed up outside my work (I'm a hairdresser) to take me to lunch once and yelled at me in front of all my co-workers and our customers cause I dyed my hair pink at the time, but I digress.

But that's not where it ends, oh no, at this point my mum has been missing for a while so I'm sat vaping with 2nd cousin and girlfriend, we're all talking having a laugh, them my mum comes out and sees me vapinng and throws a fucking fit- instead of- i don't know- putting the vape away, what do I do? I sit and take another drag. She goes mental and smashes a bottle and then some dude I didn't even know took her outside to calm down and the BBQ carries on. Finally my cousin who's moms house this was come sin with his girlfriend who shares the same name as me. All 3 of us and my brother are talking and me and this new girl talk about when we were blonde, and my cousin goes TO ME "yeah but you looked good blonde unlike her" and I swear to sweet lady Aphrodite, if looks could kill. Whole time my other cousin is asleep on the couch missing all the drama. At this point we're approaching the end of the night and we're all getting ready to go- when a guy who stabbed my mum like decades ago shows up and turns out his friends with the cousin who was asleep on the couch. I have nobody to celebrate with. I quit vaping this year, I got my sex on my ID to be 'X' this year, I got a family doctor this year- maybe those things aren't big deals in comparison to all the (personal) crap that has flowed. I live with my dad's family in exchange for some money and childcare cause of a homelessness crisis my partner and I faced. I wasn't expecting a party I thought maybe a meal, or a round of a card game. Something more than a simple shrug and congrats from the 3 other adults I live with.

Yesterday, a psychiatrist set me up for an Autism evaluation that is covered under OHIP. I'd completely given up on getting an evaluation. I was ready to settle for a life knowing nobody would believe me about my brain. For the FIRST time a doctor told me to my face that autism and CPTSD can exist side by side. I know that but, doctors ALWAYS use my trauma to tell me they don't think I'm autistic or have D.I.D. She says if I pass I can get the CPTSD therapy I need (and other gov. funded stuff) covered because, I'll be able to receive more help as a diagnosed autistic. (I'm diagnosed CPTSD.) If I get into regular therapy I can get assessed for D.I.D but, she didn't deter me from checking if I have D.I.D she started to describe how the therapist would go about that diagnostic. (Usually they just tell me to stop being dramatic or that I don't know what I'm talking about but, she took my question about DID seriously.) I relived so much of my childhood while avoiding talking about my mother so, alotta my wounds were freshly opened and sore but, instead of salt there was cool air in them, for the first time. She wrote down EVERYTHING. Not just jotting when I'm nervous, she wrote down what I was describing. My abuse is on paper now, not just my reactions. Also: a doctor hearing where my formative years happened almost always has a sigh or some sort of professional version of "Fuck." She has provided me with my new favourite: "I'm aware of the laws there."

I wish there was someone to celebrate with but, I didn't even tell my family, this time. I know they'll say all the things like "they could still deny you", all the anxieties I already know and are chewing on my ankles. I want to tell someone that I'm excited that my life could be changing. So, if you read this- thank you for being that person. ❤️

I feel hollow because I've been ignoring the weight I carry with me everywhere, and putting my duty to the household and the people in my life first. I can't ignore that weight when the psychiatrist asks me the questions. The situation flipped from "don't talk about it." "It's in the past, it's not happening to you, now." "Don't-" to I have to talk and think and acknowledge this hurt and damage.

I feel relief because, the changes are coming. The hard ones that are going to change my life and make me more capable of being the person I want to be. Being a person capable of helping others, building community and sanctuary. I can almost touch the consistency of a therapist I recognize rather than drop in counseling. I can feel my mask cracking. I know I can't promise myself anything about my specific symptoms but, I think of death, everyday. It's like I can feel myself imagining death with a peaceful light, and an undertone of it occurring naturally again, rather than the ways I have been imagining it. I feel so much chaos right now but, it's like I'm in the eye of the storm. I can see all of the clouds that are swirling. I can also see where the sky returns to its natural state.
