I made a post earlier about Christian Linke's bullshit and deleted it, because I found even more bullshit while looking through twitter and that got me questioning if he was even involved in the actual writing of the show at all. At this point, I think what may have happened is: he had some of the ideas for the plotpoints, presented them to the writers of the show and went home to take a nap, then the animators and VAs filled in the blanks. All these additions, the retcons to cover up his barely veileid homophobia, the disregard to the social commentary and, overall, the disrespect to the audience, as if we're a bunch of dummies who would take anything he says as true because he's a co-creator, as if we have no capacity to think for ourselves and interpret what is shown (and other things that I'm not gonna get into, right now)... He's been pissing me off a great deal and honestly, I didn't feel this much vitriol for a creator of something that I liked since J. K. Rowling (even though she's objectively worse and I was much younger when liked Harry Potter, so there's also the nostalgia of it all, but it's like this hits the same because my love for arcane is stronger, y'know what I mean?). He's digging his own grave and we're just watching it happen in real time, it's kinda fascinating.

ahh alright the new lookism chapter was...emotionally loaded but i feel like it kind of personified whats making me disappointed with this series...it's all hype moments and aura but there fighting choreo really went downhill which makes me sad because that was one of the reasons it appealed to me and also because if you reread past chapters you can feel a genuine passion for martial arts..? if that makes sense? I could Kindddd of buy the concept of 'mastery' or whatever but its getting lame now what da hell is OVERCOME

and also it may not be That Deep but i really loved the way that earlier in the series, the character's fighting style of choice sort of informed their character? It was cool like of course gun keeps this stoic facade but is also batshit, kyokushin karate focuses on stance/physical endurance but also extremely focused heavy strikes you know? zack cannot be any kind of fighter except a boxer lol his persistence/flashiness/pride translates well into both infighting and outboxing with the amount of focus and movement it demands as well as the more gentlemanly nature of the game ... jake doing mma makes sense because it's extremely versatile like how jake can quickly adapt and work with a lot of people Ahh i could probably talk about this more but even if it wasn't intentional you could feel how the characters and story were written around martial arts earlier in the series and i just feel like .. the spark is gone idk

Like it's confusing clearly ptj likes martial arts or has at least found his niche in writing it, htf/questism/my life as a loser are all centered around martial arts, why would he throw that away in his most popular series right now for some bullshit superhuman stuff where you literally surpass the boundaries of the body what is happening

A lot of the 'someone would notice that Clark Kent looks exactly like Superman' arguments seem to operate on the assumption that people as a general group know what Clark Kent looks like. I've seen a lot of people speculate that of seven billion people on earth, or even just whatever the official population of Metropolis is, someone would have figured it out.

But like, tell me what any given newspaper reporter looks like right now. Or any news person, for that matter, aside from TV anchors. You probably only know the name of a newspaper reporter if you know them personally outside of work or if you work in the industry yourself. It's not that it's, like, an insulated community, but most people just have no interest in it. And people who are into it are not into the physical appearance of the reporters, they're into the things they write. Even if you modernize it and have him writing online articles, which often do include a headshot of the writer, it's a tiny little thumbnail, and it's one picture that goes on every article. He just needs to make sure that one picture doesn't look like Superman, which he might even be able to manage by digitally editing it.

Literally the only people Clark has to fool are the other people in the office and then also the people he buys coffee from every morning or whatever. Which is like, 50 people that he sees on the regular? Max?
