Wait I’m curious now. What are team rockets Japanese names!
Musashi (Jessie) and Kojiro (James)! They’re named after two rival swordsmen Musashi Miyamoto and Kojiro Sasaki (wild bc Musashi actually kills Kojiro). They also reference Musashi and Kojiro’s duel in the song, Roketto Dan Yo Eien Ni as well as on of the Sun and Moon episodes where Jessie battes Ash and uses the sun to blind him. It’s more or less canon that Jessie’s last name in Japanese is Miyamoto because that’s what her mother’s referred to as!
Then Yamato (Cassidy) is named after a battleship that was the sister ship to ANOTHER called the Musashi. Kosaburo (Butch) is meant to play off of Kojiro’s name, his meaning “third son” while Kojiro means “second son”

Any recommendations for longer-than-one-shot games that feature player characters managing a tension between two (or more) of their characteristics?
I love a Lasers & Feelings hack, but they're definitely not geared for campaigns!
THEME: Character Tension!!!
Hello friend! I couldn’t think of many games that used the same kind of tension present in Lasers and Feelings, but Honey Heist hits a lot of the same key notes I think - that of pulling your characters closer and closer to one end or the other. So I looked for games that give you tools to alter your chances of success - at the cost of pulling you towards one sort of ending or another. These endings shouldn’t be something you can hit in only one game, but is likely to happen over the course of a short campaign.

Ares Ascendant, by Dan Brown.
Colonizing Mars is more than an exercise of grit and technology and science. It’s politics and economics, too. It’s forming a new social, political, and economic framework in which humanity can thrive, all within a hostile environment. Human achievement won’t be marked by getting to Mars. It will be marked by humanity’s ability to stay there.
In Ares Ascendant, players assume the roles of Earth’s best and brightest, the group who will establish the first Martian colony. They won’t start entirely from scratch, as their transport ship is loaded with supplies, and unmanned vessels have been dropping equipment over the last several years. Despite the head start, however, the group will be responsible for getting things ready for more colonists.
Ares Ascendant uses the PARAGON system, replacing the Glory/Pathos meters with a Renown/Fatigue dichotomy instead. Your characters are trying to develop the first Martian colony, which is both a high-profile and a taxing job. When you do the best out of your companions on an action, you gain Renown, which basically acts as a measure of how many people will remember what you contributed to the mission.
If you want to increase your chances of success on any given roll, you can spend a point of Fatigue to push yourself and add an extra dice from one of your character’s Domains. If you fill up your Fatigue track, you mark a point of Reputation. When you fill your Reputation track, your story is over, and your Renown will determine how well-known you are. All in all, how hard will you push yourself, and will you lose your chance at making history if you try too hard to succeed on your own?
Ash Island, by Brian Binh.
Ash Island is a roleplaying game of pain, darkness, despair, and hope for a GM and one or more players, set in a fog-shrouded New England town on a small island dominated by an evil force that manifests the characters' own inner demons to torment them.
You take the role of anchorites, unfortunate souls bound to the dark spirit of the island by the unique suffering of their own personal sins or trauma. You answered the island's siren call and find yourself trapped in a ghost town full of dangerous monsters. Unarmed and alone, you must use your talents to explore, arm yourself, and find a way to escape. Of course, you can't just run away. There's something else you have to do first…
Ash Island is built on the Ruled by Night SRD, which uses two pools of resources called Shadow and Flame. I’m not entirely sure if these pools retain the same name in this hack, but the way they work should stay the same. You can accumulate Shadow through successfully stealthing from one point to another, while you accumulate Flame when you must resort to (loud and flashy) violence. A higher Flame pool requires you to spend more Shadow in order to have a success, and you can only reduce your Flame after you’ve taken care of another penalty called Suspicion. These two pools should pull your characters between a way out that is difficult but keeps you safe, or a way out that is easy but draws more and more danger your way.
Part-Time Gods, by Third Eye Games.
The gods of today are shadows of what the old gods possessed. Their power has been heavily diminished, and many choose to live a regular, mortal life, revealing themselves as gods only when absolutely necessary. They have a mortal life, a job (or career if they’re lucky), friends, family, and everything that comes with being human, and they work hard to protect these things from harm. On the other side of the coin, they also have a Dominion to command and oversee, a deific Territory to defend from intruders, secret societies to which they owe allegiances (called Theologies), and other gods in their pantheon to try to get along with. This becomes their life, the balancing of the mortal and the divine, the normal and the supernatural, the mundane and the strange.
Part-Time Gods Second Edition (PTG2E) is the latest iteration of an amazing setting about gods and the people, groups, and places in their lives that keep them tied to their humanity.
In Part-Time Gods, your character has to balance how much of their time they spend on their godly duties, and how much of their time they spend on their mundane jobs and relationships. When you create your character, you’ll take options that give you either more free time or more money, and both of these resources are needed to help manage your responsibilities. This game does a really good job of exemplifying the balancing act of your characters’ lives in it’s rules - although it also requires a bit of bookkeeping in order to keep track of all of your responsibilities. Out of all of the games listed here, I think PTG is the most suited for a very long campaign.
Cthulhu Deep Green, by Dissonance.
Building upon the groundwork set out in Cthulhu Dark by Graham Walmsley, Cthulhu Deep Green contains a modified rules set for playing as Agents of The Conspiracy: a shadowy government agency tasked with concealing evidence of the supernatural.
Cthulu Deep Green has a fairly simplistic ruleset, with one character resource called Stress that you will mark every time you roll. In CDG, you will often find yourself rolling with something called a Dark Dice, which will add to your Stress level if it is the highest-rolled result out of your entire pool. Adding a Dark Dice might be required if you want a chance to success, or to re-try for something better, but take too much and you’ll burn out. I’m not entirely sure how fast the Stress accumulation happens in this game - I think if your play group is roleplay heavy, you might be able to play this game over quite a few sessions before your characters get completely burned out.
Those of Us Who Know Better, by C.J.Linton.
Those of Us Who Know Better is a tabletop roleplaying game about transgender superheroes whose powers come at a price. Civilians by day, in community every other Thursday evening, and heroes by night, the players use their powers to problem solve and offer protection and support around town. These powers must be used sparingly, however, because every use of a superpower demands a specific and costly remuneration.
The tension that exists in this game lies in the consequences of using your powers. When you create your superhero, you choose a superpower and a consequence. You can use the superpower, but immediately after you must do something else, as well as take a (temporary) hit to one of your stat modifiers. As a result, your stats will increase and decrease as you play.
Games I've Talked About Before
Apocalypse Keys is all about fighting the Harbinger inside you; you have the potential to both save the world and end it - will your companions save you from your doom, or drag you closer to it?
The Empire Undying uses the same number-between-two-stats as Lasers and Feelings, but I think it's designed for a longer run-time than just a one-shot, and not just because you're using a larger number range (2-9 instead of 2-5).

I wrote a really negative rant post about All For the Game fanfic, so I want to write a positive one. I really do love this fandom, and it’s fanfics, and I want to share the love as well.
By category, here are some fics I love.
Time Travel
Once More by AkemiAsh I just call this The All For The Game Time Travel Fic in my head. It has a really interesting take on Neil and Andrew going back in time all the way to high school. It will probably never be finished, but I still love rereading it.
One More Time (With Feeling) by elesary All of elesary's fics are wonderful and there are several on this list. Many are unfinished, and though the author tends to update a new chapter every week, they rotate between fics. So if you don't like unfinished fics, this is not the one for you. However, if you want a time travel fic with Neil and Andrew going back to their first year at Palmetto, with really interesting characterization and relationship dynamics, this is the fic for you.
Amnesia
Back To The Start by fuzzballsheltiepants There's a lot of fuzzballsheltiepants on this list because they're an absolutely brilliant writer. You can't go wrong with any of their fics. Please note that they are locked though, so you will need an AO3 account to view them.
Muscle Memory by elesary Andrew wakes up in the hospital with no memory of the past few years. It's incredibly in-character and wonderful.
Presque Vue by elesary Neil wakes up in the hospital with no memory of anything since Andrew drugged him at Eden's. Really interesting start! Unfinished so far.
Raven!Neil
Black As the Raven Is, He’ll Get a Partner by nekojita I think this counts as a fandom classic, but it's my favorite Raven!Neil fic so I had to mention it anyway. The Ravens find Neil after he turns down the Foxes' offer to play at Palmetto and he is a Raven from the beginning of his college career. Featuring Neil & Jean friendship and really, really slow-burn Andreil. Mind the warnings for graphic violence and rape (I think it's slightly worse than canon)
Ever More Raven Neil (series) by ynnon this is a recent series where Neil goes to Evermore for Christmas and never leaves. It has two complete installments thus far but the series is technically unfinished. It is one of the most original takes on Raven!Neil I have ever seen and the writing is spectacular. I can't recommend it enough.
Neil’s Asexuality
Swinging Along the Z Axis by SpangleBangle Neil and Andrew discuss what attraction is like for Neil.
Sliding Doors by Moth2Flame Neil and Andrew never kiss during their time at Palmetto. Neil and Robin figure out their asexuality together, and Neil and Andrew get together years later.
The Test & All The Little Lights by fuzzballsheltiepants The first fic really focuses on Andrew, the second on Neil. I call this the "Willing vs. Want To" fic in my head and think it's a really interesting exploration of asexuality (particularly in the second installment).
Random Andreil
Not Nothing by TheRainbowElectric Possibly the most brilliant AFTG fic in existence. I cannot hype it up enough. Seriously, just go read it.
Except When It’s No by TheRainbowElectric The one where they try handcuffs and it goes badly. Based off Nora’s extra content.
Out of the Ashes by puddlejumper99 Neil and Andrew meet pre-canon when, after his mother’s death, Neil starts attending high school in Columbia instead of Millport.
A Mewment Like This by fuzzballsheltiepants I'm usually not the biggest fan of AUs, but this one is wonderful. Andrew and Neil meet at the vet because they both have cats with stupid names. It might sound fluffy, and it is clever and funny, but it also explores some of the darker themes and character development that happen in the books.
if every time we touch, you get this kind of rush by Talls This fic has Andrew and Matt kissing (still with Andreil and Matt/Dan as the main ships) and it sounds absolutely insane but just trust me, you have to read it. This is also possibly the best-written makeout scene I have ever read in my life.

ooh, what ships make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? friendship and romantic ships, whichever you feel like talking about
Ohhohoooho this is a question I will very much enjoy answering, thank you! I will go fandom by fandom from most recent hyperfixation to past ones that I still love and regard fondly as one might a nice ornament on the mantle piece
Ghosts, specifically Cap (romance/queerplatonic):
Capvers: a classic, 99.9% confidence interval on being canon, love fics which explore it in the timeframe or in modern AUs. Can’t go wrong with it
PatCap: the grumpy one is soft for the sunshine one. 10/10. They’re both human, they both have faults and they love each other because of them and not despite them.
Caphrey (or deCAPitation, source unknown for this genius name): Humphrey can smooth out Cap’s rough edges in a different way to Pat. I love Humphrey, he tried so hard. So did Cap. I love their potential for comfort and understanding in a different way to others.
JuliCap: the Captain deserves to feel good and feel sexy and I think this Julian would be a great for exploring his sexuality in a more adventurous way. I have a real soft spot for JuliCap and have made tentative plans for a beast!Julian and beauty!Cap fic in the future.
CapRroh: Robin has just so much depth to him, he’s seen a lot and he knows the Cap has been through it too. So much comfort potential here (bonus points for JuliCapRroh polycule, absolutely delicious)
CapThorne: I just think it’s neat! Let Cap be wooed! Let Thomas be moved away from his infatuation with Alison and realise that he’s in love with the idea of being in love with her and not actually in love with Alison herself!
Special mention to Alison and Mike to being a genuinely wonderful on-screen couple, Chess Husbands, Pat/Julian and Annie/Mary (my beloveds)
Non-romantic (friend/found-family)
Kitty and Captain: their friendship means so much for me. Kitty and Cap finding a reassuring and understanding presence in each other, learning with each other, overcoming their trauma’s together and just finding safety.
Cap and Fanny: the gin and gossip society of Button House. Also regularly joined by Humphrey (who is also a massive gossip).
Kitty and Fanny: I can’t put this into words other than to say that Kitty would drag Fanny kicking and screaming into the future. Fanny doesn’t call Cap or Robin for tech support, she calls Kitty. Mary too.
JJK:
Nanami Kento/Gojo Satorou: this ship makes me feel so many things. God I love it.
Also I love the different dynamic of mentor-student relationship between Nanami and Yuji, very much coloured by what happened to Haibara.
Nanami Kento/Hiromi Higuruma: tired grumps with a strong moral code. 10/10.
Misc
SuFin, GerSu, EngSwe. Ahh Hetalia, what can I say.
Geralt/Jaskier and Eskle/Jaskier. I have never watched the Witcher but I love these dynamics.
King/Saitama; Mumen Rider/Garou; Iaian/Atomic Samuri (One Punch Man)
Ash Williams/Herbet West/Dan Cain (Evil Dead x Reanimator)
Hope that answers your question and thanks so much for asking! ❤️

Some random little headcanons in my fic:
- Ash has his mom's eye color and facial shape. He got his dad's dark hair, nose, and darker skin, which gets freckled in the sun. The freckles he also gets from his dad.
- His father was originally raised in Johto, specifically Olivine. He was adopted by the Ketchum family after washing up on shore with no memory and with no one claiming him. His adoptive parents figured that he was the sole survivor of a cruise ship that sunk at sea. His memory loss was likely due to repressed trauma. Not being able to recall his own name, he was renamed to Daniel, though often went by Dan.
Dan's personality is very similar to Ash, so his memory loss didn't bother him too much. He fit right in with the maritime community, charming anyone he met with his inquisitive nature and boundless energy. Dan met Bill one summer during their teens. Bill's family were on holiday from Galar. The two clicked over their mutual interest in the mysteries of the world and creating inventions, and would correspond with each other over the years.
Dan met Delia who was on her way back home from Sinnoh (shortly after her near death experience on Mt. Coronet). She opened up to him about her past, and his concern for her and empathy left her stunned and smitten. She was the one to introduce him to Samuel Oak, who became part of the trio. Dan later left Olivine to move into the new lab on Cinnabar Island with Sam and Bill. Their projects were funded by Silph Co, Dan's in particular. It became their headquarters in studying mysterious phenomenon and Bill's teleportation project, though Dan later moved to Kanto to marry Delia and raise his son. He'd make trips back and forth from the island to the mainland every few months.
Dan and Sam built the home that he and Delia would live in. Delia expressed that she wanted a big family, so he planned that out by building four bedrooms. Sadly it would never come to pass after his untimely death/vanishing on the Cinnabar coastline. The incident was covered up with only Delia, Oak, and Bill knowing what really happened. To the public it was simply an unfortunate boating accident. All of Dan's research was taken as property of Silph Co and used in their technology. However, Delia has a lot of his unpublished papers in their study regarding the nature of the strange energy, what it does to both pokemon and human DNA, and its possible link to Arceus.
Bill learned a few years later about its effect on DNA after being changed into a pokemon, and though he turned back, it had unintended side effects such as being able to understand pokemon and unusually enhanced night vision, proving his DNA had been altered or possibly mutated. But he keeps this a secret as he doesn't trust Silph Co or Devon. Silph Co essentially claimed Dan's research as their own, and Devon has an issue with corporate espionage, once with Team Meteor, and another in Ryme City involving Howard Clifford's schemes.
Prior to his disappearance, Dan was a loving husband to Delia and a wonderful father to Ash, often indulging their shared sweet tooth, much to Delia's annoyance. Though he'd get on her good side buying her a favorite treat, a marshmallow pie. The family would visit Olivine and Rota, flip flopping every year so Ash can spend time with both sides of the family.
Their home had a small battle platform in the backyard. Ash's parents loved a good battle, and playfully competed with each other. Delia however was definitely more competent due to her extensive training in Team Rocket, and ultimately was the one to teach Ash everything he knows. Ash's father often said she was just as formidable in debates with him as well, especially with the topic of the deities of their world. He wasn't convinced just legendary pokemon could harness such incredible power, but humans could possibly do so too. Which led to the research in Missingno and its link to the very energy of creation.
One mystery that haunted him was his origins. Who was he before his memory loss. What was his original name, who were his parents, and where was his original home. The research from the Aether Foundation, which Sam shared with him with once, led him down into the study of wormholes. He began to wonder if he was a Faller, a person from another dimension that was misplaced by a wormhole. Which might explain why no one could find his identity and why he had no records of his existence.

screaming, crying, throwing up: Love Between Fairy and Devil episodes 6 & 7
Dongfang Qingcang gets a new outfit in episode 6 but it’s not as cool and sexy as the lace turtleneck :(
Tumblr media
Xiao Lan Hua’s bully, a bitchy fairy named Danyin (I’ve had bad experiences with people named Dan-something so it tracks), sees Changheng’s future in the back of a Yu-Gi-Oh card a magic hole in a tree and she’s not in it. In fact, he’s getting married to Xiao Lan Hua. She bullies XLH even more. What a cunt.
Tumblr media
Xiao Lan Hua takes the fairy SAT (or ENEM for my Brazilian followers) and Qingcang gives her a little help using an invisibility spell.
This actress was in Song of Youth as the daughter-in-law that has an affair while her husband is away in the war and gets pregnant. Therefore she’s referred to as “Cheater” in my house.
Tumblr media
The test consists in capturing an albino capybara that reminds me of my cat Yuki in terms of size vs ferocity. Of course a woman sent by Ronghao Masked Man casts a spell on whatever this thing is and it starts attacking our heroine and the other fairies. Of course Xiao Lan Hua saves everyone. Yes, even Danyin, she’s better than me as a person, I would have let that bitch get eaten.
Tumblr media
Anyways, to the most important part of the episode imo:
Changheng wants to help Xiao Lan Hua but RONGHAO TOUCHES HIS ARM and holds him back (for a while, they eventually go save her).
MY FRIENDS, I SCREAMED.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Xu Haiqiao looks so good in this scene!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I usually hate spoilers but just tell me this: they’re not brothers, are they? I need to know if I should stop shipping them or not ;_;
At the beginning of episode 7 Xiao Lan Hua catches the albino capybara like a Pokémon (Poké Ball and all) and everyone wonders how a weak fairy like her managed to subdue a beast possessed by an evil spirit. They award her the first place in the test.
Tumblr media
Ronghao is very interested in Xiao Lan Hua and he looks at Changheng like this:
Tumblr media
Qingcang and Xiao Lan Hua talk about doing the right thing, good and evil, blah blah. Sorry, I wasn’t paying much attention to anything but Dylan Wang’s gorgeous eyes.
Tumblr media
Ronghao is finally revealed as the man in the mask and he’s darker than I thought. He’s obsessed with the missing/presumed dead Goddess Chidi and puts her face on his servants to “””enjoy””” it (I bet he fucks them too). He then kills the servant because her acting as Chidi wasn’t convincing. Brutal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Qingcang has another wardrobe change. This one looks like the lace turtleneck but it’s just a lurex turtleneck. #BringBackLaceTurtleneck
Tumblr media
Bitchy Danyin thanks Xiao Lan Hua for saving her life but makes it clear that she still hates her. Big mood.
Tumblr media
Ronghao asks XLH to revive his dead cactus and she succeeds. It was actually a test to see if she could purify evil qi (she can) so he concludes she’s more powerful than she seems. Ashes of Love's Jinmi was a powerful fairy that was hidden by her mother as a simple plant spirit so I think this is what’s going on here too.
Is Ronghao’s master Chidi? I can’t tell from this angle but it sure looks like her. I thought she was dead but I guess it’s more like a Yehua from Eternal Love situation, as in that her spirit/soul left her body so it’s just a shell. Ronghao is willing to do bad things to save his beloved master and I will love him for it.
Tumblr media
Oof, a lot happened in these two episodes. I don’t know for how long can I keep writing these posts but they won’t be detailed recaps as the plot thickens.

Some underrated YA novels that are actually good and you should read right now
-Asylum by Madeline Roux
A boy named Dan goes to college at a school called Brookline, which used to be an insane asylum. He makes two friends, Abby and Jordan and together they try to figure out all the creepy secrets about the place, relating it an old warden who has the same name as our main character, Daniel Crawford
It’s a trilogy (Titles: Asylum, Sanctum and Catacomb), has three novellas (The Scarlets, The Bone Artists and The Warden) and a prequel (Escape From Asylum)
It’s really well written, creepy (horror but not terrifying) and we get five main queer characters: Jordan, Cal, Ricky, Kay and Fallon and one minor one: Martin
I recommend starting in canonical order (not the order of release), so: Escape From Asylum, Asylum, Sanctum and Catacomb and then the Novellas: The Scarlets, The Bone Artists and The Warden
-The Jewel by Amy Ewing (The Lone City series)
After the royalty starts dying out, they start using surrogates to bear children who can control things called auguries which control the how the baby looks and it’s personality. Our main character, Violet is a surrogate who gets auctioned off to the Duchess of the lake. Soon she realises she doesn’t like being treated like an expendable object and wants to get out of the jewel. She meets a boy named Ash who is a companion (basically a boyfriend for hire) to the Duchess’s niece. They fall in love and have to get out together
Trilogy (Titles: The Jewel, The White Rose and The Black Key) and two novellas that are only available as ebooks (Garnet’s Story and The House of the Stone)
It’s super good but the main romance is a little insta-lovey. Even though it takes place over a couple of moths, the chapters are so close together it doesn’t feel that way, but it’s not that bad. The lore of the surrogates is also super interesting and Raven and Garnet are the best and most interesting characters by far
-Queen of Hearts by Colleen Oaks
A origin story of the queen of hearts and how she became the way she was portrayed in Alice in Wonderland
Trilogy: Queen of Hearts, Blood of Wonderland, War of the Cards
Super good, I loved the plot twist of why she was written that way, I didn't love Wordley’s twist, I thought it was kinda dumb but whatever. The other plot twists, especially the Cheshire one was really good
-The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee (The Monatgue siblings series)
We follow Monty, Percy and Felicity as they go touring around Europe. The plan is that they travel for a year, Percy goes to law school in Holland, Felicity goes to finishing school and Monty goes back home to run the estate but boy do things go wrong after Monty steals an innocent looking puzzle box, only to find that it’s not so innocent, all while dealing with his sister’s eye rolls and sassy remarks and his massive crush on his best friend Percy
Trilogy (The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, The Ladies Guide to Petticoats and Piracy and The Nobleman’s Guide to Shipwrecks and Scandal) and one novella (The Gentleman’s Guide to Getting Lucky)
Probably one of my favourite books of all time. Queer (and it has pirates, what could be better?) Historical romance, just so good and so well written
-Girls With Sharp Sticks by Suzanne Young
Trilogy (Girls With Sharp Sticks, Girls With Razor Hearts and Girls With Rebel Souls)
About a bunch of girl who are in a private academy and being trained to be perfect. But soon they realise the indoctrination they’re undergoing and fight back to escape the academy
The theme of sexism is a little heavy handed, the book sort of shoves it into your face that that is the theme but apart from that, very enjoyable. There’s a queer side ship too which I appreciated. The main romance is cute too if a little uninteresting since there’s hardly any drama, it’s just “I like you,” “I like you too,” “Cool let’s date” and I’m okay with that
-Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige
About a girl, Amy that gets to Oz in a tornado and it put to the mission of killing Dorothy Gale who came back after the original plot of the wizard of oz, crowned herself as leader and fucked up the place
Series (Dorothy Must Die, The Wicked Will Rise, Yellow Brick War, The End of Oz) and nine novellas (No Place Like Oz, The Witch Must Burn, Order of the Wicked, Ruler of Beasts, Heart of Tin, The Straw King, The Wizard Returns, Dark Side of the Rainbow and The Queen of Oz)
Super creative premise, I think. The book was fun and I loved all the rebellion planning. Dorothy was a great villain and a great character

Book recommendations based on your Hogwarts house!
A/N I’ve been watching a lot of these videos on youtube and it inspired me to make this post! I hope you enjoy. I love Harry Potter and the fandom but just to be clear I don’t support J.K Rowling and her trans/homophobic statements and the fact that she is ruining the series by adding more to it.
Ravenclaw house 💙🦅(my house)
Tumblr media
The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown
This book just screams Ravenclaw to me. The cults, the science, the research, the history, the small facts on the Smithsonian... literally everyting except the characters themselves and the plot is real. There is so much knowledge to be gained from reading this book and the plot is thick and exciting.
Tumblr media
Strange the Dreamer duology by Laini Taylor
Another book that screams Ravenclaw... Strange the Dreamer and the world and the culture is so thick and is presented in lyrical and intelligent word play that any self respecting Ravenclaw should definitely give this book a try. You will not be disappointed! I know I wasn’t! The main character (Lazlo Strange) is also a Ravenclaw so that is always a perk.
Tumblr media
This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone
This book is like a well thought out chess game. The writing styles that the two authors develop is addicting and the letters going back and forth between the two character is so intriguing. There so much strategy and wit in this book that I had to put it on this list for Ravenclaw.
Tumblr media
Wendy Darling by Colleen Oarkes
I love this book so much. I think it’s a book that is worthy of Ravenclaw just because of it’s creativity and the twist that Colleen Oakes put on Peter Pan. I think sometimes we forget that it isn’t just wit, wisdom, and knowledge (although this book is definitely witty and has some wise messages) that Ravenclaws value but also creativity.
Bonus book: Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. This book is the most Ravenclaw book ever. Need I say more.
Gryffindor ❤️🦁
Tumblr media
Lore by Alexandria Bracken
The plot is tense, most of the characers are Gryffindors, book praises bravery, cowardice is something that is punishable ad frowed upon... the list goes on and on. Lore is filled with high stakes and brave acts that Gryffindor’s will admire.
Tumblr media
Legendborn by Tracy Deonn
It was so hard to put one of my all time favorite books in here just solely because it’s not my house (that was not a dig on Gryffindor please don’t attack me). Bree is such a Gryffindor and does so many of the things I can see the golden trio doing. High stakes, daring acts, Gryffindor cast, a Griffindor x Griffindor relationship, perfect for any Gryffindor looking for a book full of twist and turns and bravery.
Tumblr media
The City we Became by N.K Jemisin
This one gives me Gryffindor vibes for the same reasons the other ones do (thrills, daring acts, Gryffindor characters etc). Except for one thing. This book could have easily been placed into Slytherin since the main character uses his cunning to change his identity according to what city he is in at the moment. But I put this book here because I think it shows how Gryffindor and Slytherin are two sides of the same coin.
Tumblr media
Raft by S.A Bodeen
This one was a bit of stretch. Raft is a bit of a unpopular book, I’ve seen people say it was just meh, or bad. I actually really enjoyed this book though and I think how the main character (Robie) deals with being stranded and jumping out of a plane to survive gives me Gryffindor feels. I also think Gryffindors are the kind of people to enjoy a good survival book.
Bonus: The Hunger Games
Slytherin 💚🐍
Tumblr media
Vicious duology by V.E Schwab
Most (if not all) of the characters in this book are so cunning and ambitious and determined to meet their goal that makes it such a Slytherin book. Vicious also makes you question morality and the characters motivations that Slytherins will appreciate this book even more because of it. Bonus: V.E Schwab is a Slytherin. Just saying.
Tumblr media
The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
I don’t know what about this book makes me think “Slytherin” but it does. Maybe it’s because it’s about using magic in a cunning way to win, the characters, the main characters mentors (although I think they are both definitely Slytherins). But this book screams Slytherin to me, just for unknown reasons.
Tumblr media
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
I don’t really think I need to explain why this is a Slytherin read so I’ll just put one character name: Kaz Brekker. Kaz is such a Slytherin. He uses cuning and resourcefulless to pull off crazy heists, blackmail people and get what he wants to survive a gang ridden city. And he he put up a calm face even though he may be freaking out on the inside through everything, never revealing his full plan. I feel like these are all such Slytherin things to do, not gonna lie.
Tumblr media
Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian
Oh boy, I could right pages and pages on why I think this is a Slytherin book but I’ll stick to a mini paragraph. The “Ash Princess”, Theodosia, uses cunning and strategy to take back her kingdom. She manipulates to get close to certain people to achieve her goal. And even though she doesn’t necessarily think that these are good things to do, she recognizes taking her kingdom back and acheiving her goal is more important.  Sound like a certain house?
Bonus: Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire (So many Slytherin vibes in this book)
Hufflepuff 💛🌿🦡 (I had to put a plant just as a nod to the Hufflepuff common room)
Tumblr media
Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel
This. Book. Is. So. Cute. I didn’t put this in here just because it was cute though, after reading it, it gave me so many feels and Hufflepuff vibes that I had to put it here.
Tumblr media
Sarah’s Key by Tatiana de Rosnay
Just going to say this: Hufflepuffs are great finders. This whole book centers around a girl finding her brother. She shows loyalty because she travels around the world to find him. Does that seem extrememly Hufflepuff-y or is it just me?
Tumblr media
Guardians of Childhood series by William Joyce
Hear me out, every Hufflepuff has an inner child as well as a badass inside them, they aren’t all soft (Tonks is proof). The guardians are protectors of children (as the title indicates) but they also kick butt. I think Hufflepuff’s of all ages will enjoy it, and yeah it’s a kids book but to quote C.S Lewis; “someday you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again”.
Tumblr media
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Ok though, but Pride and Prejudice could fit everywhere on here. Lizzie is a Raveclaw, Mr. Darcy is a Hufflepuff, Mrs. Bennet is a Gryffindor (she gives me Mrs. Weaseley vibes. Especially in the 2005 movie), etc. But I’m putting it here because it’s such a Hufflepuff thing to ship Mr. Darcy and Lizzie (seriously though every Hufflepuff I’ve met say that this is their OTP). Just read it and watch as it become your OTP too.
Bonus: Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson
I do not own any of the pictures used.

As of November 23 2020 the g/rumps have changed their stance on shipping.
In the video Mario 35 D/an brings it up at the 23:10 mark.
Now, they were specifically talking about explicit fanart and fanfics and coming across it or fearing people they know finding it, much like what happened with Mar/kip/lier and Jac/ksep/tic/eye.
This is what D/an said: “To anyone drawing pornographic pictures or writing sex fanfiction about me and A/rin or B/rian or anyone else, we’re not mad at you, just saying I would be real grateful if you took it down, stop doing that because it makes me feel really bad.”
and a later follow up (they were laughing during this part)
A/rin: "But when you involve a wiener."
D/an: "Yeah as soon as wieners appear that changes everything."
A/rin: "Changes the vibe."
D/an: "Changes the vibe of the whole room."
I’m not going to tell you that sfw shipping is okay because I don’t know if they meant that as well but just in case, I’m going to just stop in general.
Polygrumps has been a thing since 2012 and over the years the various gru/mps and employees that have come and gone have said whether they were okay or not okay with shipping.
Those of us in the fandom made sure to ask permission and did our best to keep it out of the main tags.  It’s been eight years and now the show is back down to two grumps and they have given us an update.  How you choose to interpret their words is up to you.
If you have n/sfw content, I suggest cleaning up your blogs and user lock or private any fics or art on ao3.  What I don’t suggest is going on a massive deletion spree like when D/an revealed his relationship with Ash/ley.  At least give others a few days to download your fics.
I know this is a bummer, especially for this year but we had our fun.
Now for the next part.
We still have many fictional characters related to the gr/umps that can be shipped.  While they were specific about explicit content, they also talked about how they are real people with feelings. (we all know that and that’s a separate issue most people don’t understand about shippers. shipping real people but it’s not really them.)
In the N/S/P universe we have:
Dan/ny Sex/bang
Nin/ja Bri/an
Ego/raptor (yes this is a character ever since A/rin dropped the name in the g/rumps title screen and he now only appears with Star/bomb)
A/rin Neverbone
Samurai Ba/rry
Mort/ermer (i’m iffy on this one since she wasn’t named but appears in videos and S/uzy pretty much dropped her youtube personas)
We still have everyone in the Good Game Universe.
We could even revive the Dream Daddy shipping.
We also have the Game Gyaru universe.
Daniella
Arina
Rose
Brina/Brianna (is that Bri/an’s gyaru name?)
So, it’s not the end of the world.

terminus I
One last hoop to jump through.  One last box to tick before the nine would help them finish it.  The series of riddles were allegedly to attune each of the nine to the maze which Shegora planned to trap Dead Sun with the Sleeper inside. Yet, she could not help but feel this was the last bit of training and preparation that their supposed guardians could come up with before sending them into the fire.
“There are five rational, but greedy sailahs who find a treashah any good man would kill ovah,” Saakes said laying down an Ace, a King, a Queen, a Jack, and a 10, he names each card he has laid down. “Each card represents the man’s rank aboard a ship. Tha’ ace and Tha’ King get ovah half, with the Jack getting barely more than tha’ 10. Each man wan’s to survival, each man wan’s the biggest share he can, none of tha’ men trust one anotha’ and each is willin’ to do wha’ they must for a biggah share.” Saakes gestured at the cards, “You have t’ree questions, before you mus’ propose what the sailahs should do to divide tha’ treshah.”
She was alone with him. He didn’t ask about what he was owed. The Lord of Deals barely looked at her like he knew her. Saakes was the second to last test, and for Eilithe the only of the nine that presented danger and challenge. Her lips parted and she asked her first question.
“Why didn’t you take my son on the night he was born?”
Tumblr media
Between wars and her own stupidity, Eilithe was accustomed-- comfortable, with preparing for final goodbyes. She spent what time she knew she had with her children, with Kurel, her her own thoughts. With her questions and Saakes answers.
The loa laughed, “Always been too clevah, E’leet. I did no’ take ya boy, because weren’t evah mah plan to. He was meant to be insurance against wha’ comes next.”  “Eilithe?” An’Set’s voice did not stir her from her thoughts, not at first. “Ei’lithene.” He shook her arm and she finally grunted.  “What.”  “I asked you why you aren’t staying back-- with Malik. With all your children.” An’Set repeated, ashing his cigarette into the tray. He had a grim look about him, a restless one. Eilithe barely took her eyes off the ocean, framed by the rolling white curtains of the cabana. “Do you want me to lie to make your feel better, dura? Or should I--” Eilithe was cut, mid-thought by An’Set’s gravelly voice. “Be honest for once in your life?”
She snorted dryly and nodded. “The short version? My arrogance wouldn’t allow me to stay my blade. Not even for my children. I need to finish it. I need to see it die. The longer version? Kurel won’t stay back with me and his chances to die down there grow without me there. And to confirm your worst thoughts, my dear brother, if my husband dies it is almost inevitable that my soul will go with him.”
An’Set turned up his beer and turned his cool grey gaze out to the ocean. He pressed his lips together, the relaxed them-- tried several times to find words. Eventually, he reached over and put his hand over hers, gripping gently. “Ya’til-anath, little sister,” he offered quietly, before he let her go. If you must die, then die well.
Saakes motioned to her with a smoky hand, “Your next question, Kaz’aka.” He smirked like he was amused or impressed by her. Eilithe was quiet, far too long before she asked it. “Will he and I die inside of the trap we have set for the Sleeper?”
Tumblr media
It was tradition that Eilithe and Kurel shared the last night before a battle alone together. Alone with their thoughts and each other. So on the balcony, with their children at her mother’s-- she sat in silence beside him.  "Why do I ge' the feelin' of a pendin' bad idea?" "I think I'm all out of ideas, bad or otherwise." She answered, certain of herself. But she had at least one more plan. Eilithe exhaled and shut her eyes, "If one of us dies down there--I don't think I need to explain the likelihood the other will go with them. And I don't want to think about not coming back. Just like I don't want to think about what could have happened to Malik. But." She swallowed, "I need you to hear from me, that I understand why you did what you did. And I need to know that if we don't come back, you're with me on what happens to our son. Your heir."
A laugh rumbled out of Saakes’ chest at the very boldness of her question. “E’leet, you know bettah dan’ mos’ dat dah futur ain’ a straight line. S’a series of rollin’ dice an’ turnin’ cards.” She sneered at him, “Answer my question. None can decipher those dice and cards like you.” He grinned and dipped his head to the side, “I have seen you die, seen Kurel An’Diel die-- more dan’ once. Choice has always been dah down fall o’ your kin’. So when yah ask me, it’s ‘cause you seen it too. You know not all of you’s comin’ back, all tha’s lef’ now is for you to decide whic’ parts to leave an’ which to take.”
"He is more than my heir." He led with. Pausing to swallow thickly. "He has to go with Zelphryin. As woul' Karkah."
Kurel’s words might’ve started a fight five years ago--she could tell by the way his muscles tensed he was preparing for it. “I know,” she admitted, after a stretching silence. And after the one final plan they agreed. They accepted.
“Las’ question, E’leet. Make it a good one.” Saakes leaned back, to take in the salt and sourness of her expression. Eilithe shut her eyes to clear her mind of her immediate and impending fate. “What is coming next-- what were you preparing for?”
Tumblr media
Zelphryin was a special breed of animal--no, a serpent. An instinct to preserve itself and its lineage, a response almost biological. Yet unable to resist nibbling on its own tail. Eilithe did not trust her brother-in-law with anything more than being untrustworthy. Being untrustworthy and ensuring the An’Diel name lived on.
“Pack your things,” Eilithe said in Tanari, standing in Zelphryin’s living room. “Take only what you believe you will need for a week’s journey. You will leave the harbor tonight and stay in Stormwind. You will wait no more than two days for different instruction before you depart by sea. You will dock in Gadgetzan and you will wait to be met. Do not attempt to leave with Kurel or my children. Do not tell anyone you are leaving. And do not leave Gadgetzan until you have had your visitor. I urge you to trust not only me, but your brother as well. Goodbye, Zelphryin. Take care of them if it comes to that.”
“Oh-aheheh,” Saakes cackled, shaking his head. “Dere’s dat fiyah tempah.” He hummed, “Here I was, t’inkin’ we’d nevah get to tha’.” From the air he produced a sling, unmarked card--no name just a wheel and offered it to her face up. “Touch tha’ card-- an’ see fah yaself.” Eilithe looked from him to his token, then back again. It was with cautious fingers that she brushed the card. The flashes came instantaneously.
Father of Sleeper. Son of Time.  She saw the gates of the Dreameater opening wide, letting out the primeval shadows. She saw a beast, all-consuming leashed by God. She saw the end, as promised. As designed.
By the time she could let go of the card, she felt she’d been staring into the beyond for no less than fifty year. Her nose bled and her heart pounded in her ears. Saakes smirked-- humorless and pessimistic. “Dah future ain’ a straight line, E’leet An’Diel, Kaz’aka.Tis a series o’ choices, turnin’ card an’ rollin’ dice. Dat Sleepah ain’ tha’ end--he only dah beginnin’.”

7 Ways to Be a Genuine Friend
"You have to be a friend to have them."
― J.M. Richards
"The only way to have a friend is to be one."
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
Let's get the facts straight, in order to be someone's friend you need to know how to be a true amigo/a. Here are seven ways to be a genuine* friend, InshaaAllah إن شاء الله:
"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken."
― Oscar Wilde
1. Always try to be yourself. Let your friends see you for who you really are. Don't be a phony (fake). Show them your true personality. Don't act one way in front of them, and another way behind their backs. If they can accept the real you, then you'll be able to have more meaningful and lasting friendships.
"One of the most sincere forms of respect is actually listening to what another has to say."
― Bryant H. McGill
"There is as much wisdom in listening as there is in speaking--and that goes for all relationships, not just romantic ones."
― Daniel Dae Kim
2. Be an active, caring and responsive listener. Try to listen to your friends carefully, interestedly and understandingly. And, always make an effort to give them constructive feedback and sound advice.
"Perfection is a goal that will forever remain impossible for any human being to achieve. Therefore, the only achievable goal is to only strive to become the best that you can possibly be."
― Edmond Mbiaka
"I think people who have faults are a lot more interesting than people who are perfect."
― Spike Lee
3. No one is perfect. This is earth! We all have faults. Know that you have faults, and that your friends have faults too. And, learn to live with them. Some of them can be fixed and some of them can't be fixed. C'est la vie! ('That's life'; 'Such is life' in French) If you do something wrong, take the blame. Say your sorries, and try your best to learn from your mistakes.
"Appreciation can make a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it all into words is all that is necessary."
― Margaret Cousins
"Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom."
― Marcel Proust
4. Appreciate your friends. Show them your appreciation. Let them know that you value them. Here are some simple ways of doing this:
Write them a kind note, letter, or email.
Give them a surprise call to let them know you haven't forgotten them.
Make something special for them.
Compliment them about their successes. But please don't flatter them, as flattery is insincere.
Show them signs of care and affection.
Do something sweet and thoughtful for them.
Give them a small gift to let them know that they mean something to you. You can be creative in this area, as it's the thought that counts most!
Verbalize it! Let your friends know how grateful you are for them. Tell them how much you prize (appreciate) their friendship.
"Tell people how it is, be real and be honest. If you see something wrong make sure you speak up. Being this way will naturally eliminate the snakes and fakes."
― John Maiorana
"Honesty is the best policy."
― Benjamin Franklin
5. Be honest and frank (direct) with your friends, but please remember to be polite too. If your friends ask for your opinion on a matter, give them a sincere one. Don't lie to them. Tell them the truth that they need to hear, but say it tactfully (politely).
"The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well."
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
"There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up."
― John Holmes
6. Be caring and helpful to others. Use your God-given abilities to do something good for your friends. Be genuinely thoughtful towards them, and look for ways that you can help them. When you help others it makes you healthier and happier.
"To keep the Golden Rule we must put ourselves in other people's places, but to do that consists in and depends upon picturing ourselves in their places."
― Harry Emerson Fosdick
"Treat others how you want to be treated."
7. Treat your friends as you'd like to be treated. That's the Golden Rule! If you follow this principle religiously (regularly, constantly), you're bound to have successful long-term friendships.
*genuine adjective = (of a person, emotion, or action) sincere.
Synonyms: "sincere", "honest", "truthful", "unhypocritical", "meaning what one says", "straightforward", "direct", "frank", "candid", "open"; "artless", "natural", "unaffected", "guileless", "ingenuous"; informal "straight", "upfront", "on the level"; informal "on the up and up"; informal "dinkum"

The Original Final Season 7 - Preface
Okay guys. I’m still polishing up some of the later episodes, but this whole thing is almost done. And as motivation to make me finish the later episodes and publish them, I’m going to give you Episode 1 today, in a post directly following this one. If you do not see the link just yet, simply refresh this post and I should have put it in place, pending no issues with my Internet connection.
I’ve talked about this A LOT. What follows below and in subsequent weeks (I’m going to make you guys suffer, I’m going to put each episode out weekly) is 1) my explanation for WHY specifically I believe there was an “Original Final Season 7” and also, 2) WHAT I believe that Final Season contained.
NOTE: I will refer to the actual show events of Seasons 7 and 8 as “show canon” and will refer to my speculation as “Original Final Season 7.”
*Disclaimer because I have this weird feeling I’m going to get bombarded with anons asking me for links to “the original scripts” or interviews where this is all mentioned or something:
THIS IS ALL MY OWN SPECULATION. NONE OF THIS HAS BEEN PROVEN TRUE. THERE ARE NO “ORIGINAL SCRIPTS” FOR A FINAL SEASON 7...THAT I KNOW OF.
Alright, now that that’s taken care of, I’m gonna lay this out here for you guys. (Parts of this may get fanficky but whatever, this is what makes the most sense in my mind based on what we’ve got on the table).
(Also note, this series will be really really fucking long because it includes what I *think* the original Season was, and evidence from aired episodes as to why I think that, along with long-winded, detailed descriptions of scenes, etc. Sorry not sorry)
Here is how I went about this speculation to determine what I believe was likely the “Original Final Season 7”:
1) I looked for instances in the series as a whole where plots were never finished OR scenes/lines were either retconned or never paid off  - i.e. Dany’s S2 throne room scene script clearly saying “snow” and in 8x06 it’s now ash - post Emmy script release note: the script may say “snow” but remember, it’s the same day as the attack on the city from 8x05 when it was sunny and super hot outside. Either the script was changed just to make it say “snow” OR it was snow in the 8x06 episode, but D&D literally changed the fucking weather just to make it snowing in Dany’s throne room scene when King’s Landing hasn’t had snow since 7x07. Either way, something was retconned and it’s fucking idiotic and hella obvious.
2) I examined Seasons 7&8 specifically for the same things - scenes/lines never paid off or left unfinished/unexplained, i.e. Yara’s line “somewhere the dead can’t go” when this was never needed because the Night King was defeated in one episode; also all the baby talk between Jon and Dany and Dany never being pregnant in show canon.
3) I looked for instances in the series where a plot was “undone” in a very short span of time. Meaning, something that could have taken seasons upon seasons for buildup but was scrapped or easily deconstructed an episode later or same episode - i.e. Jaime/Brienne finally getting together in 8x04 and Jaime leaving Brienne that same episode; also Theon rescuing Yara from Euron’s ship very easily in 8x01 when she was a captive for most of Season 7.
4) And lastly, I looked for things that have been said/mentioned either in show canon or by cast/staff that ignores something previous that is a contradiction of their words - i.e. Jon pledging to Dany in 7x06 after she already said she would help him and Jon in 8x01 saying he gave up his crown so Dany would come help OR Dan Weiss saying in 7x05 that Dany isn’t mad and isn’t her father and then in S8 naming Dany the “Mad Queen”.
There are many of these instances in the series so it wasn’t hard to map out a rough outline of what I believe the “Original Final Season 7” was.
So, why do I even think there even was an original, final Season 7 outline/possibly even an entire Season of script? Why do I think this a likely possibility rather than me just being a delusional Dany Stan who wanted a different ending for my fave?
Back as early as 2013, after season 3 ended, the number 7 was being thrown around. Seven seasons to finish the series.
[Producer Frank] Doelger said: “[The number of series (seasons)] is being discussed as we speak. The third season was the first half of book three, season four will be the second part of book three. George RR Martin has written books four and five; six and seven are pending....I would hope that, if we all survive, and if the audience stays with us we’ll probably get through to seven seasons.”
Keep in mind, at this same time, D&D had also JUST had their meeting with George about the series endpoints.
“Last year we went out to Santa Fe for a week to sit down with him [Martin] and just talk through where things are going, because we don’t know if we are going to catch up and where exactly that would be. If you know the ending, then you can lay the groundwork for it. And so we want to know how everything ends. We want to be able to set things up. So we just sat down with him and literally went through every character.”
Vanity Fair, March 24th, 2014 (LAST year being spring 2013)
So this meeting on the series conclusion took place right when D&D were just polishing up the scripts for Season 4, before filming began that summer). A year after their meeting with George, (the same 2014 Vanity Fair article), D&D apparently played with the idea of an eighth season, but that could have just been the reporter’s speculation.
In other interviews, they were fairly adamant about 7 being the “magic number.” And back in the very beginning when Dave and Dan first started Thrones, they always said they imagined the series taking 70-75 hours to tell the story - so again, the equivalent of 70 episodes or a normal full 7 Seasons of 10 episodes each).
With the major complaint from both last season and season 8 being that it felt “rushed” however, people may wonder how the hell the series was supposed to conclude after Season 6. However, when you think about it, Season 7 being the final season doesn’t seem that odd if it were originally going to be a regular 10 episode arc. The final two seasons only totaled 13 episodes anyway, so really, it’s just three fewer episodes than in the version that we got. And if some episodes in the final Season 7 were over an hour long, the series as a whole would easily reach that 70-75 hours D&D always talked about.
So, what was the original 10 episode final Season 7 supposed to look like?
Season 7 Episode 1: ?
Season 7 Episode 2: ?
Season 7 Episode 3: ?
Season 7 Episode 4: ?
Season 7 Episode 5: ?
Season 7 Episode 6: ?
Season 7 Episode 7: ?
Season 7 Episode 8: ?
Season 7 Episode 9: ?
Season 7 Episode 10: ?
To figure out the outline of the 10 Episode Final Season, let’s start near the end.
ONE FINAL BATTLE
Author George R.R. Martin, whose series of novels forms the basis for Thrones, had revealed to the duo the broad strokes of how his Song of Ice and Fire saga secretly ends, including a description of an epic FINAL BATTLE that’s been teased from the show’s VERY FIRST SCENE. But this climactic confrontation was miles out of reach for a series that cost about $5 million per episode. “We have a very generous budget from HBO, but we know what’s coming down the line and, ultimately, it’s not generous enough,” Benioff said.
EW
When Entertainment Weekly interviewed D&D back during the filming of Season 3, D&D made it sound like George had planned only ONE final battle - the battle between the living and the dead. Not two battles, one with the living against the dead and another later battle with the living against the living. Just ONE.
(Also should note, this says the FINAL BATTLE was teased from the show’s FIRST scene, which contained the White Walkers but not Daenerys. Daenerys didn’t even appear in the episode until sometime much later meaning the “epic final battle” was about the White Walkers, not Dany burning down King’s Landing as we got in show canon).
Both the books and the show begin by showing the audience the threat beyond the Wall. This is the main threat. This is the main event. The Game of Thrones doesn’t matter and is a distraction for both the audience and the characters. In GRRM’s original outline, he explicitly says that the greatest threat to the realm of Westeros is the Others and that there will be one final battle.
So this was our original “Episode 9”. Literally and figuratively. Episode 9 is always supposed to be the episode where the craziest thing happens in the entire season - Ned’s death, Battle of Blackwater, Red Wedding, Battle at Castle Black, Dany flying away on Drogon from the fighting pits of Meereen, Battle of the Bastards.
The only exception to this could be argued to be Season 5 as Jon Snow is killed in Episode 10, not episode 9. However, the change in structure of the season was probably the biggest clue to the audience that Jon wasn’t going to stay dead, as they had never ended a season on a cliffhanger of the death of a major character. We’ve always been given one more episode afterward to process said character’s death.
If Jon were going to die and stay dead, he would have died in Season 5 Episode 9, because of this pattern: Season 1 Episode 9 - Stark death (Ned). Season 2 Episode 9 - Battle (Blackwater). Season 3 Episode 9 - Stark death (Robb). Season 4 Episode 9 - Battle (Castle Black). Season 5 Episode 9 - no Stark death (where there should have been - and a Battle was in Episode 8 - Hardhome). Season 6 Episode 9 makes up for the flaw in the pattern where we get a Battle and a Stark death (Rickon).
Ergo, based on George’s original outline, D&D’s previous statements about George’s plan, and the pattern, 7x09 was the original Battle for the Dawn. So that’s what I’ll call this episode.
Season 7 Episode 1: ?
Season 7 Episode 2: ?
Season 7 Episode 3: ?
Season 7 Episode 4: ?
Season 7 Episode 5: ?
Season 7 Episode 6: ?
Season 7 Episode 7: ?
Season 7 Episode 8: ?
Season 7 Episode 9: The Battle For The Dawn
Season 7 Episode 10: ?
I don’t want to give the entire season away just yet, as I’ll be posting each episode in full detail, but I will fill in one more “event” from the outline above.
In the 7x06 Inside the Episode, David Benioff said something that I’ve always found very interesting.
“The whole path of the show, in some way, had been trying to map out all the episode endpoints and with this one, it was the dragon opening its blue eye. And realizing that the Night King has finally gotten his own weapon of mass destruction.”
This statement really made me think because a) it tells us how D&D planned the series - mapping everything out by episode endpoints. And b) Benioff doesn’t say “the ending of the penultimate episode of Season 7.” He just says, “this one.” So this tells me, if anything, D&D had always planned to kill Viserion and have the Night King raise him as his mount. BUT it also tells me this was always meant to happen in 7x06, regardless of when Season 7 ended….either at an Episode 7 or an Episode 10.
Season 7 Episode 1: ?
Season 7 Episode 2: ?
Season 7 Episode 3: ?
Season 7 Episode 4: ?
Season 7 Episode 5: ?
Season 7 Episode 6: ends with Wight!Viserion opening his blue eye
Season 7 Episode 7: ?
Season 7 Episode 8: ?
Season 7 Episode 9: The Battle For The Dawn
Season 7 Episode 10: ?
So what does each episode of the “Original Final Season 7″ look like? The following posts will be my rendering of a final, ten-episode Season 7 with explanations as to why certain events happen and why they’re likely based on the show canon, Seasons 7 and 8.
Without further adieu, here is what I believe to be the Original Final Season 7:
(Links to come weekly as I post each Episode, if link does not work immediately, just refresh a few times until it does. Two episodes today as Episode 1 is very short and familiar, Episode 3 next Tuesday!)

Smokey brand Movie Reviews: Full Shares
I have one helluva backlog of films to work through but, between those and other distractions, i am having just the dickens of a time getting through them. I’ve started Uncut Gems three different times but the tension, man, it stresses me out way too much. I have to take breaks in between and just forget about where i left off so i need to start over. I have to say, though, the twenty to thirty minutes i have seen is absolutely excellent. In the meantime, while i muster enough nerve to actually finish that film, i wanted to revisit one of my all-time favorites. Way back when i first saw this movie, it gave me the same intense, stressed out, panic i feel watching Gems. Alien changed the way that I interacted with film and, to this day, it’s one of maybe a handful of movies to ever illicit true fear from me. I saw it, for the first time as a young kid of maybe six or seven, in a late night showing on TV and i remember even the broadcast edit spazzing me the f*ck out. Imagine my apprehension seeing the theatrical cut fr the first time a few years later. As i got older and learned to appreciate the moving parts of film individually, i came to love Alien even more. Not only is it actually terrifying. it’s one of the best built movies i have ever seen and carries the template for bad-ass film like a badge of honor. Cats say the sequel, which i’ll get to in a later review, is better than the first, but i wholeheartedly disagree. This movie is easily top three all-time for me and here’s why. I have to tell you from the outset, this movie is perfect in my opinion. There  are no flaw so don’t expect any negative, just me gushing about the excellence within.
The Outstanding
The very best aspect of this movie is easily Sigourney Weaver’s portrayal as Ellen Ripley. My goodness, was this character absolutely amazing. When people think of Ripley, they often remember Cameron’s version of her from Aliens. To most people, Ripley is that chick, strapped down in a power loader, calling the Queen Xenomorph a b*tch to her face. That is, undeniably, iconic. Ellen Ripley solidified the template for strong, female, lead with that scene. But Ripley didn’t start out that way. She had to earn that title and it began with her battle for survival in the original Alien. Ripley began as an undermined, kind of by-the-book, Warrant Office, just trying to get back in time for her daughter’s eleventh birthday. Over the course of two hours, we watched Ripley evolve into the absolute unit that she is known for and the nuanced portrayal of that evolution by Weaver shows us the harrowing journey with an almost visceral vulnerability. Ellen Ripley is not a character, she is a person. You feel for this woman and her struggle. You root for her. You gasp when she fails. You want her to survive. To get attached to a film character so completely is testimony to the excellence of that actor’s performance and Sigourney Weaver turns one in for the ages. Not bad for a twenty-year-old’s second film appearance, first speaking role.
You can’t speak about Alien without the iconic imagery provided by the nightmares of H.R. Giger’s art. The raw, horrifyingly sexual, disgustingly organic, yet wholly bizarre vestiges of the LV-426 hive were incredible. That initial pan of the fossilized Space Jockey fused to his pilot’s seat can’t help but inspire very real awe. I imagine seeing that reveal on an Imax screen and it is absolutely riveting. More so, entering into the hive itself, wit all those corridors woven from steel and flesh, leading into the pitfall trap full of the waiting, legitimately alien eggs illicit a feeling of primal terror. Those things are nothing like anything terrestrial. They are just familiar enough to inspire curiosity from the audience but uncanny enough to trigger apprehension. Absolutely brilliant but the true genius, the source of constant panic, belongs to the adult xenomorph, itself.
Big Chap, as the production team called it, was a miracle of effects work. The suit was custom built to fit the near seven foot frame of Bolaji Badejo but it was his physicality that lent an organic presence to the techno-organic monstrosity. That original Xenomorpgh was wildly terrifying to me. Even at my young age, i weathered Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, and Jason Voorhees, with rather stoic aplomb but the Xenomorph sent me into a panic. I had legitimate nightmares about this thing which had never happened before. Giger had created a creature of such instinctual terror that you has no choice by to fear it and that sh*t is amazing.
I touched on how excellent Ellen Ripley was as a character, giving well deserved credit to Weaver’s portrayal but, like all classic characters in storytelling, Ripley began on the page. The writing for Alien is some of the best i have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Every character, every scene, every aspect, of this story is tight. Dan O’Bannon deserves all credit for this classic script. He wrote a story filled with characters and suspense, never identifying male of female unless absolutely necessary. I miss when films were films and not soapboxes for gender politics. It’s amazing how timeless and iconic characters can become when you’re not trying to push a goddamn agenda.
Now, O’Bannon’s script is excellent but it took a true visionary to bring it to life. Ridley Scott was that creative. Alien was Scott’s second directorial effort and he was able to craft a visual narrative far beyond what his tangible experience would dictate. Scott is a true visionary. The way he saw O’Bannon’s script was incredible. I mean, the vistas of the Derelict Ship, the sanitized halls of the Nostromo, that whole retro-futuristic look, the abject terror and repugnant reversal of sexuality with the Alien; All of that is Scott. O’Bannon gave this man one helluva blueprint but Scott built a goddamn monument of cinema in his own right.
The sound design in this film is absolutely classic. The hisses from the alien, the clacking of the computers, that harrowing voice from MOTHER during the adrenaline packed climax; Every sound, echo, pitch, and clank is perfectly administered to embellish the hellish visuals onscreen. I’ll never forget the first time seeing Brett’s death scene. The subtle sway of chains giving way to the impactful sound of those water droplets hitting his face, lulling you into a false sense of security, only to see the Xenomorph puncture his skull. That mixture of screams and rattling chains was haunting, brilliant use of sound for a horror set piece and testament to it’s voracity.
I spoke at length about Sigourney Weaver’s casting and performance but literally everyone is outstanding in this film. being an original script, not based on any existing media, you had an open template to create these characters. In a sense, casting for this type of project is even more tantamount than building a cinematic adaption of a novel or comic. This film is going to be known for these characters, for this world, going forward and Alien nailed this sh*t. Aside from Weaver’s star-turning performance as Ripley, John Hurt turned in a rather endearing outing as Kane, the first victim of the Xenomorpgh. Tom Skerritt was probably the biggest name in the film so everyone thoight that his character Dallas would be the lone survivor. Nope. Veronica Cartwright’s Lambert was woefully unraveled, specially during the Chestburster scene and Ian Holm’s Ash is easily unnerving his uncanny valley-esque performance. Harry Dean Stanton’s Brett was a man of few words but my second favorite performance in this entire film belongs to Yaphet Kotto. His portrayal as the aggressive, outspoken, incredibly loyal, Parker, endures to this day. These characters are all incredibly written and skillfully performed, bringing characters to life that will endure through time.
This movie came out in 1979, man! It is four decades old an can still give anything created today, even with out advances in effects work and film techniques, a run for it’s money. That is testament to the deft hand and expert precision in the construction of this movie. It’s rare that a film can be so timeless and it’s easily the first i have ever seen to capture that high mark. There are others like that; Jurassic Park, Twelve Angry Men, Jaws, The Godfather, To kill a Mockingbird, Star Wars, but even those classics show chinks in the armor. Not Alien. That Retro-futuristic design is absolutely timeless and fits in with any era of cinema.
The world Alien created was ripe for elaboration. The franchise, alone, produced three sequels; Each an amazing look at different film styles, directorial vision, and cinematic genre. Aliens is arguably one of the greatest sequels ever and has a completely different tone that the first. Some would ay it’ even better than the first. I wouldn’t but others do. There have been books, comics, games, and so much more based on this world. Alien: Isolation is easily the best game ever made based on the franchise and it stars that eleven-year-old daughter turned adult woman, Amanda Ripley, in a similar situation as her mother. Let me tell you, bad-assery must run in the family because Amanda was just as dope as her mom during her own gauntlet. And just like her ma’s adventure, Amanda’s outing stressed me out to no end. I loved the Earth War comic growing up and the introduction of Ripley 8 was something special. She was kind of ridiculous in the fourth film, Alien; resurrection but the comics did 8 much better justice. Speaking of artificial constructs, i would be remiss if i didn’t mention the absolutely charming android Xenomorph, Norbert, and his predecessor, Jeri, but my favorite hybrid is definitely Eloise. That’s not to mention the excellent stories with in the Aliens versus Predator mythos. I’m not going to get too heavy into that lore but you’d be hard-pressed to find a more amazing, female protagonist, outside of Ripley, than Machiko Noguchi; The human Japanese woman, blooded by the Elite Leader Yautja, Broken Tusk, given the title of Little Knife by the space-faring Predators. Ma is a f*cking machine and it’s a crime AvP ignored her story for what we eventually got in cinemas. Hell, there are even aspect of the Prometheus portion of this universe that i like, even though i don’t particularly like the film, itself. Elden is a dope character with a ton of potential for the overall lore going forward. There is so much excellent material in the Aliens expanded universe; Characters, concepts, worlds and more. The expansive nature and reverence for this universe rivals that of Star Wars, none of which could be possible without the inspired execution of the original Alien film.
The Verdict
What can i say? Alien is a goddamn masterpiece. From the second those titles slowly manifest to the exploration of LV-426, to the claustrophobic panic of the Nostromo, to Ripley’s triumphant yet uncertain fate in the end, i absolutely adore every aspect of this movie. Everything about this movie is deliberate and amazing. The performances are all excellent, everyone does an exceptional job. The set design is gorgeous and in the case of the alien hive within the Space Jockey’s ship, disgustingly beautiful. Giger’s art as perfect for this film but his design for Big Chap, the original Xenomorph design, was absolutely unnerving. The first time i saw it onscreen, i was both enthralled and horrified. To see the massive beast, in the few glimpses you got between some of the most excellent lighting ever captured on film, was incredible. There are shortcomings, sure, all films have them but i don’t believe them to be a negative. The pacing can be a little dragging at times but it’s absolutely necessary to build atmosphere. I thrive on slow burn films like The VVitch or Blade Runner 2049 and it was Alien that taught me patience in film can be a virtue. I cannot praise this film enough. For me, Alien is as close to perfect as can be. This easily gets my highest recommendation. If you’ve never seen Alien and appreciate sheer psychological terror, beautiful sets, brilliant direction, awe inspiring shots, and some of the best sound design ever captured on film, you’ll love this movie.

SUPERGIRL #23-28 DECEMBER 2018 - MAY 2019 BY MARC ANDREYKO, KEVIN MAGUIRE, EVAN SHANER, EMANUELA LUPACCHINO, SEAN PARSONS, WADE VON GRAWBADGER, FCO PLASCENCIA, CHRIS SOTOMAYOR, KARL KESEL, NATHAN FAIRBAIRN, LAN MEDINA, RAY MCCARTHY, SCOTT HANNA, EDUARDO PANSICA, BRAD WALKER, ANDREW HENNESSY, DAN JURGENS, TOM DERENICK AND JULIO FERREIRA
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS (FROM DC DATABASE)
Supergirl confronts a hologram of Appa Ali Apsa, who admits he and the remainder members of the Circle are responsible for the destruction of Krypton. Kara demands answers. Apsa replies the truth is complex, and although he is already dead, his co-conspirators are still alive, spread throughout the galaxy, and probably unwilling to admit their guilt. Apsa asks if she is truly ready for the truth, and after an instant of hesitation, Kara nods. Apsa explains the history is too long and he couldn't risk placing it in a single archive, so he stored it in several data crystals and spread it throughout the universe. Apsa hands over one data stone to Kara, and entrusts finding all stones and bringing the Circle to justice to her before vanishing.
Tumblr media
Right then the pocket dimension around Supergirl breaks apart, and Kara finds herself surrounded by a squad of Green Lantern Corps. Kara tries to de-escalate the situation, but Kyle Rayner and John Stewart want her to surrender. They are friends, but since a Guardian is involved, Kara doesn't believe she can trust the Lanterns.
Supergirl and Krypto make their escape, avoiding the squad of Green Lanterns chasing her. As boring her way out of the Archive, Kara is unexpectedly helped by Mogo, who saw her thoughts, and being a planet itself, feels her homeworld's loss. Mogo guides Kara back to her ship, fully repaired and fueled. Krypto is already waiting for her, and Mogo has programmed coordinates to help her quest. Kara wants to inquire further, but the Lanterns are hot on her heels, so she takes off.
As Supergirl makes her escape, C'Zal warns Hakmon Kara Zor-El is moving. Hakmon hurries up to inform Lord Gandelo that the Kryptonian has escaped the Lanterns, but he made sure no Rogol-related files were breached, and a kinsman hid a tracking device aboard of her ship. Gandelo replies he will not allow her to destroy the Circle's progress, and he'll have a spy destroy her.
Supergirl and Krypto have arrived at a dive bar at the edge of the galaxy, looking for the next clue to discover why Krypton got blown up. The bartender notices her Kryptonian crest, and starts whispering with the bar owner Ambush Bug. Ambush Bugh recalls Rogol Zaar dropped by not long ago and wonders if she is here about him. Kara, of course, can hear every word, and loudly demands information regarding Rogol Zaar.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, an agent of the Circle has spotted Supergirl's vehicle parked outside. He informs Lord Gandelo, who tells him to do nothing but observe and report. Lord Gandelo doesn't trust his agent to follow his orders, but he has hired another mercenary just in case.
Inside the bar, Kara focuses on her super-hearing and spots an alien who is suspiciously nervous while trying to hide the Circle's brand on his hand. Kara is going to interrogate him when another alien steps in the way and starts gloating about Rogol ridding the universe of the Kryptonian plague. Kara realizes everybody in the bar are looking to pick a fight with her, and she is happy to oblige.
Supergirl battles the crowd, backed up by Krypto. Although there are no yellow stars nearby and her sunlight-collector suit is low on energy, Kara uses her Klurkor and Torquasm Rao's martial skills combined with Rogol's axe to fight them off. She finally corners the suspicious patron, but the bartender blasts him to ashes rather than let him speak. The bartender demands to know what Kara did to Rogol, but she is disabled by a Coluan who got involved in the brawl.
Kara finds another data crystal among the ashes of her suspect. The Coluan introduces himself as Z'ndr Kol, but Kara walks away and out of the bar. Z'ndr follows him, though, and while she's recharging her suit, he tells his family also got killed when he was a kid and he is in search of a Coluan colony. Boasting about his engineering skills, Z'ndr talks Kara into grudgingly letting him tag along until her next destination.
Supergirl's ship takes off, guided towards its next destiny by the data stone. Kara checks they're heading towards the crime scene before she starts getting sick and bleeding. They've reached the remains of Krypton.
Tumblr media
Supergirl, Krypto and Z'ndr Kol have reached the ruins of Krypton, and the Kryptonian pair are getting ill due to the high levels of Kryptonite radiation. After putting herself and Krypto on a filtering-radiation suit, Kara decides to go out of the rocket to figure out why the anti-radiation shields were damaged.
Suddenly she is attacked by an unknown alien who calls herself Splyce, the caretaker of Krypton. Kara tries to fight Splyce off, but her enemy is tough and she's low-powered. As if that were not enough, the K-radiation is overwhelming her suit's filtering systems, and she starts having Kryptonite-induced hallucinations. As battling, a hallucination has her father build a device capable of restarting a planet's core. Kara notices such a device is very similar to that Rogol Zaar attempted to destroy Earth with.
Supergirl fights on, and she's hit by Splyce's solar blasts. Kara realizes Splyce must be a genetically engineered weapon made of different alien genes, including Tamaranean DNA, and feeling fully charged, Kara comes up with a risky plan: she asks Kol to rerout her suit's full energy into her as she pounces on Splyce. Kara fights both her adversary and hallucinations where Zaar boasts that her father helped him out. Then Kara blasts her full energy and her suit's into Splyce, overloading her energy-absorbing Tamaranean genes.
All of sudden, Supergirl and Splyce are whisked away. Fortunately there's a tracking device in her suit. As Kol and Krypto start looking for her, Kara and Splyce are teleported to the Citadel at the end of the universe, where Splyce's creator, Harry Hokum notes satisfied that he has seized a Kryptonian to experiment with.
Flashback story
As exploring an uninhabited remot planet, Z'ndr Kol happens upon remains of an alien colony. Surprised because there were no records of that cluster being colonized, Kol finds evidence that place was a Kryptonian outpost, but someone attacked the colony and killed everyone.
Kol is then attacked by hostile aliens. He manages to escape, but he can't help but ponder about his attackers' identity and the outpost's fate. As he makes his way back to his ship, Kol finds some unknown Kryptonian artifact. Kol takes the relic with him, ignoring the same sign engraved on Rogol Zaar's axe is etched in both the monolith and the face of the planetoid he is leaving.
Flashback story
Supergirl returns home after helping Ice fight a giant robot Megazon and finds her adoptive parents donated some things she had outgrown to the Midvale Orphanage. Accidentally, Eliza gave away one box where Kara had hidden a plourott, a stuffed animal of sorts that her mother put in her ship before her departure.
Supergirl decides to sneak into the Orphanage and retrieve her memento quietly, but she is found by orphaned kids who think she has come for their Christmas party. Since a little girl named Rosa has already claimed her stuffed animal, Supergirl dismisses her previous plan. Since Rosa just lost her parents and yearns for snowy holidays, Supergirl gives Ice a call and both heroines give the kids a white Christmas.

Back to story
Supergirl comes around and finds herself strapped in a research laboratory and at Harry Hokum's mercy. Hokum has extracted her DNA and is wondering what can he use Kara for now, but instead of answering his questions Kara deliberately makes him mad. As she is being dragged back to a cell she mocks Splyce until the alien fires her solar blasts at Supergirl. Supergirl's energy levels are recharged but she pretends to be passed out as she is thrown in a transport ship.
Meanwhile, Krypto and Z'ndr Kol are approaching the Citadel, trying to come up with a way to rescue Kara, when they are intercepted by agents of The Circle, who demand the duo comes peacefully with them.
Back on the Citadel, Supergirl gets thrown in a cell. Kara stops playing dead, shatters her shackles and gets ready to break herself and all prisoners out. Unfortunately her latest power charge will only two hours.
Meanwhile, a third party break into the prison. And Harry Hokum is growing Supergirl's clones.
Supergirl is carrying out a jailbreak when she runs into the Omega Men who are storming the place. Primus wants her to come with them, but Kara doesn't want to leave the prisoners behind, so Primus telepathically shows visions of the Citadel exterminating their worlds. The Omega Men are planning to destroy Hokum's fleet's power source, which is hidden in that place. Supergirl decides to join them.
Tumblr media
The group fights their way to the chamber where Hokum's power source is kept, but they find three Omega Men who had been killed in action but are somehow alive and imprisoned. Before the Omega Men can get over their shock, Supergirl warns they are about to be attacked.
Z'ndr Kol and Krypto have been brought to Lord Gandelo's presence. Gandelo is disappointed because her adoptive son is helping Supergirl rather than spying on the Girl of Steel how he was ordered to, and she demands an explanation.
On the Citadel, Supergirl and the Omega Men are fighting Harry Hokum's army. Supergirl again tries to bait Splyce into firing at her a solar blast, which would recharge her powers, but Splyce sees through her taunts and attacks Kara physically.
Supergirl tries both to fight off and reason with Splyce until a little girl is shot in front of Kara by a soldier, and Splyce gloats that Supergirl's compassion is a weakness. Enraged, Supergirl rips off the Splyce's tentacles holding her in place and decides to avenge the murdered little girl.
Back on Gandelo's ship, Z'ndr argues Kara is only looking for answers like he does. When Gandelo replies she's only another manipulative Kryptonian, Z'ndr replies Gandelo can't judge her by or blame her for what others have done. Gandelo goes on about Kryptonians being too dangerous and needing to be exterminated for the universe's sake. Their argument gets heated up until Krypto wakes up, blasts Gandelo away from Z'ndr, and both run away.
Meanwhile, on Hokum's ship, two engineers are examining Rogol Zaar's axe when all of sudden it flies off, summoned by Supergirl's will. As lifting the axe, Supergirl realizes that it's an empathetic weapon that feels and feeds on her rage. Supergirl feels tempted to kill Splyce but she doesn't go through with the execution.
Right then, Primus arrives and says it's time to leave. Supergirl and the freed slaves get on the Omega Men's ship, and it takes off. As Supergirl is pondering about the conflict she has gotten herself involved in, and the mission she isn't closer to fulfill, Harry Hokum is preparing to strike again.
On Omega Men's hideout, the team is examining their three undead friends, feeling something amiss and arguing the prison planet was some sort of setup. Supergirl notices a strange scar on the necks of the rescued Omega Men and leaves.
Kara is reminiscing in loneliness about a memory of her father designing the machine used by Rogol Zaar to kill Krypton. Suddenly she remembers the strange scars she noticed are from Kryptonian cloning tech and rushes back to the infirmary. At the same time that the cloned trio are attacking the Omega Men, Hokum has unleashed one dozen of Supergirl clones upon the base.
Supergirl and the Omega Men are battling an army of mindless Supergirl clones. Wielding Rogol Zaar's axe, Kara takes down as many clones as she can, as struggling against the axe's rage-amplifying influence.
Meanwhile, Krypto and Z'ndr Kol are looking for Kara when their ship detects' Kara's position.
Supergirl and Ryand'r keep fighting Supergirl's clones. Once her attempt to reach them out fails, Supergirl asks the Tamaranean to give her a solar boost as quickly as he can. Ryand'r transfers energy to Kara by kissing her, and Supergirl takes down her clones with a shockwave clap. Unfortunately, although her blast was intended to only stun, their cellular structure is so unstable they break apart.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Enraged, Supergirl bursts into Harry Hokum's ship, and after putting his men down, seizes Hokum and demands to know how he got Kryptonian cloning tech. Hokum confesses he knew what The Circle did to Krypton so they let him strip-mine the rests of the planet in exchange for his silence. Supergirl wants the perpetrators' names, but Hokum is teleported away. Nonetheless, he loses his ring as he disappears, and Kara collects its gem, noticing it is one of the database crystals she is looking for.
Primus then comes along and takes Supergirl to Hokum's ship's cloning facilities. Infuriated at the sight of her people's science being perverted in order to create abominations, Kara destroys the place.
Meanwhile, Hokum is teleported to Gandelo's presence. Despite Hokum protesting otherwise, Gandelo believes he has broken their deal, and executes him.
Supergirl is resting in the Omega Men's outpost, feeling physically and mentally worn-out, when Ryand'r approaches. After apologizing for kissing her earlier, swearing it was the quickest way, he offers another energy transfer, holding her hands this time. Ryand'r has just rechaged her fully when Z'ndr and Krypto finally happen upon them.
Meanwhile, Gandelo confers with two members of the Circle. Although Gandelo insists that Supergirl must be executed in order to keep their cover-up, their partners point out they have nothing to hide because Rogol Zaar acted against their wishes, and Gandelo is losing control. Angry, Gandelo sends out a message across the galaxy: he wants Supergirl dead.
At the same time, in planet R'Venna, a group of followers or Rogol Zaar are determined to finish what he began and kill Supergirl.
REVIEW
This is a slow story, but every now and then closes chapters. It is clear that is a very long saga, but knowing DC it will most likely cut short by crossovers.
At least it is a title where the characters are themselves, that is pretty valuable for the Superman corner of the DCU right now. Supergirl and Krypto are a joy to read.
Z’nder is a mix of Peter Quill and Vril Dox II. I like the character and it seems like we are going into some kind of love triangle with Ryand’r (although I don’t imagine Andreyko going that route).
I wonder if Hokum really died in this story, I never really liked the character, but it felt a bit unceremoniously. Perhaps a clone?
There are too many artists involved in these issues, all of them great, some of them among my favorites... but it would really help a lot to keep Maguire for the long run. I am saying this because it is a longer arc, this sort of space opera deserves a unified style. (Fill-in artists have similar approaches at least).
I give these issues a score of 8.

The Thrill Is Strong But Not So Sweet by @theweddingofthefoxes, @starkickback, @happinessfordeeppeople
Rating: Mature

L'appel du vide by @inthelunaseas, @adumbtree-draws, @whatnopictures
Rating: Teen
Summary: The call of the void.

Emotional wounds are harder to heal, and his newest companion has no idea where to start.
Back in Black by @thefluffehgamer, @cocytus-cave, @kyan-kyan
Rating: Mature
Summary: Eddie Brock was a reporter, a journalist- and thus had little room for crackpot theories. Bigfoot wasn’t real, couldn’t be. Mothman was just a folktale for tourism. Aliens? More plausible than the last two.
At least, that is until a man called Flash Thompson arrives on his doorstep, uprooting his life and throwing it in the trashcan. He is thrust back into his previous life as a Men in Black agent, with no recollection of such events occurring, his only clues to his lost memory being snippets that are gradually showing through the cracks. Even more bizarre is the fact that he is supposedly a previous, and one of the few surviving, hosts for an alien named Venom.
With time running out, a muddled jumble of conflicting memories and a painfully confusing alien constantly insulting him with backhanded endearments, Eddie barely gets a moment to pry. Considering he’s seen those opalescent eyes in vivid detail within his dreams, Eddie knows there is so much more he has to figure out before the clock hits zero.

Rating: Mature
Summary: It’s not easy being a tiny lump of loneliness on a planet where only strength and violence matter. But when the amorphous goo, ironically named Venom after a mishap with what was supposed to be his first host, is given a chance to go on a exploration mission it might just be the chance it needs to find something it had always wanted. Along the way more lonely souls will find their way, whether they want to or not.
A story about loneliness, what it means to be a loser and why you should definitely let an alien tapeworm arrange the seduction of your ex-husband.
