GOW HC - Having a baby with them
Tumblr media
God of War x GN! Reader
Summary: Having a baby with them.
Warnings: Fluff, Established Relationship, Pregnancy, Tears. Lost of them.
Characters: Kratos, Thor, Freyr, Heimdall
A/N: All canon kids exist.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kratos
- Being some years after Atreus leaves, finding love again with you. It didn’t take long until you fell pregnant, as his pull-out game is a little weak, especially after such a long time since he’s participated in the ritual.
- A bit shocked to learn the news after days of taking care of you while feeling helpless waiting for Freya to come back to Midgard. Though after the news and Freya's leaving, he’s all smiles and laughs—none that you've ever seen or heard before—filled with happiness at the chance to start a family once again and for Atreus to have a sibling. Sending him a message a day after the news while you took a nap.
- Very lovey-dovey during the pregnancy, coming more out of his hard spartan shell as you started to show more. Always placing a hand on your stomach, not caring if there wasn't anything to show yet. Insists on doing everything, not with words, of course—doing the cooking, cleaning, even making the bed—he does it all. Resting one evening with a hand on your belly, feeling them kick, jumping at the feeling at first, only realizing the little one was fighting against his heavy hand.
- Rubbing your belly every minute of every day while speaking to them in his Greek tongue, wanting them to hear his voice clearly, not knowing Norse very well. Sometimes his talking catches your attention, thinking it was for you, but as soon as he kneels, you know who they were for.
- Keeping Freya on standby as the time got closer, going hunting less, but bringing back more food every time, knowing he’d have to stay with you after the birth. When going into labor, he stays calm, holding you, kissing your skin softly as encouragement and comfort through the pain. Taking every painful squeeze of the hand, wiping away every drop of sweat that came from your forehead.
- Finally hearing the screams of your new baby coming into the world, he cries silently, holding the little bundle in his arms. With you calming down from the pain, he dared not take his amber eyes off of them. Days passed, waking from naps to hear him softly talking to the baby, watching as he around the clock cared for them, not caring about the toll it had on him.
Waking only minutes ago, seeing Kartos’s tired state after having fed and rocked the baby for their nap, finally putting down the bundle of joy. Calling for your husband to get his slow attention, reaching out a hand, he takes it, letting you pull him into the bed.
Taking the hulking god into your arms, letting him rest on your pillow, watching as sleep swiftly takes him. Only seconds after the uncomfortable whines of the baby started making him shoot out of sleep, quickly pushing him down promising to take care of them, did he rest after three days of no sleep.
-
Tumblr media
Thor
- It wouldn’t have taken long at all, as the man's drive is high, but if you were careful, it would take a year or two. The pull-out game isn’t that strong, but if you don’t say anything during the act or before, he won’t pull out.
- All laughs when finding out it was only a matter of time; also thankful that you weren’t sick, just pregnant. Tells everyone when you’re okay with it, shows you off proudly as he’s going to become a father again.
- Clingy, so clingy since finding out. Staying in bed longer to cuddle, rubbing your belly, not caring if nothing was showing yet. Would stop drinking during the pregnancy; though hard, he would do it for you, keeping away from Odin as much as he could. Even asking Baldur to take some of his jobs. Feeling them kick for the first time, he would only smile, commenting on their strength or their trying to reach for Mjölnir, causing you both to laugh.
- Laying next to your stomach at night, talking to them endlessly, only stopping as he fell asleep from you playing with his long hair. Would allow you to use him like a body pillow, any position needed at night, he makes it happen.
- When going off to a job, he has one of his oldest to watch you, mostly Magni, but Modi tags along if you want to go out to walk around the lands of Asgard. Though Heimdall is rarely asked, when Thor knows the job will be a long one, he asks. Surprisingly, Heimdall is more talkative about the new child of Thor than their siblings.
- As you got bigger, his fights with Odin would ramp up, wanting to stay closer in case you go into labor, not even bothering to leave your shared chamber, keeping close with you as you'd been put on bed rest as growing a half-god, half-giant wasn't easy. Finally, as the time came, it went by quickly as a flash, with every medic in Asgard being there to help while Thor held your hand with tears streaming down his face.
- The first few days would be filled with tears and naps—you having the naps, of course. Thor, knowing what to do already, growing a routine with the little one as you healed from the birth. When healed, he insists on showing the little one around Asgard, knowing it was an excuse to show them off to everyone, but you agree. Seeing how he dressed them up cutely before showing them off to the family.
Watching as the sleeping baby's feet bounced fitted with the cutest booties, Thor walked with the little one cradled against his chest with a soft cloth. Entering the front room, everyone's eyes watching as they started to gush over the little bundle.
Some were too afraid to get too close to Thor, and the other gods that cooed watched from behind the small crowd, looking around the room meeting a familiar pair of purple eyes. Quickly, they looked away, acting as if he was never interested in the new addition, knowing he'd be around later when Thor was away to meet the little one.
-
Tumblr media
Freyr
- Three words. God of Fertility. This man has no pull-out game. Though if you were cautious enough, you would be spared for some time, but the man has a high drive, so good luck if you were planning on not having one right away.
- Thinks it's a joke at first since you both always poke funny at each other lightly, once in passing about him being the god of fertility. When it hits him, tears start. After many years of chasing people that he had feelings for over and over, the dream of having a family of his own finally came true, thanks to you.
- Though he loved the realms, the love he has for you is greater, meaning traveling to them would stop wanting to take care of you. However, you both go one last time to Alfheim, taking it slow in your early stages of pregnancy, going to the temple, bringing together both dark and light elves asking for their blessing on your growing child.
- As you get bigger, so does Freyr get even softer, lying next to you at the end of the day, at first noticing how antsy he is since going cold turkey on traveling. Until you give him the idea of reliving the travels through stories, happily doing so to the audience of you and the little one. Cuddling atop your belly as the little one kicked against his cheek, causing Freyr to shoot up, slow to figure out what the feeling was. Then, realizing with big eyes, it all ending in him playfully scolding the child, only getting a rebellious kick in return.
- Would start to get a hair-pulling amount of stress as you struggled in the late stages of pregnancy, Freyr having to do most things around the house just to keep you from getting up out of bed. Having Freya, of course, to help in the birth, though months before he had asked where you wished for it to happen in any river or realm, he would be happy to fulfill the dream as you did with his.
- Surprised at how tiring parenting is, barely getting to see his nephew grow up, the man is clueless about all of it. Fortunately, thanks to Freya, you both wouldn't be totally in the dark. Still, Freyr made the experience of parenthood even more memorable. From putting the baby's diaper on wrong to overfeeding for the reason of them being so cute,.
Waking to the noise of a familiar voice cooing, looking over to Freyr's side, not seeing his head on the pillow but glancing down, seeing him cuddled against your stomach. Kissing away at your stretched skin, loving as the baby kicks back at his papa's kind words and kisses.
Noticing your awoken eyes on him, looking up meeting his pretty brown eyes, hoping they'd share them—if not this one, then next—knowing he'd say yes to that request.
-
Tumblr media
Heimdall
- Heimdall has a good amount of self-control, so his pull-out game is nothing to laugh at. Meaning you would have to beg for a baby, but even then, he wouldn't want one not understanding them or the want for them.
- Quiet at first with the realization that it was all becoming real; the thought of a child and caring for one being only nine months away scared him. A change in him happens when hearing the news, growing a new sense of protection for the both of you, no longer seeking out fights to fill his ego. Slowly leaving Odin's side trading it for yours. For once, doubt crept up about his abilities—not in combat, but in him being a father.
- Every day watching you grow panic built within him bad enough to where it was visible, having to question his wellness a few times before finally breaking down letting all of his doubts spill, leaving you to put everything back together. Reassuring you'd get through it together, mistakes were inevitable, but learning to fix them is what matters.
- Isn't going to be very cuddling or a show-off in public, choosing to keep close instead, whether around the corner or from afar on the wall. When he's at home, it's all cuddles, cradling your bump, reading aloud to the both of you. Doesn't talk much to them, only states things as if teaching them through your stomach wall. Relaxing on nights, a hand to your stomach, getting the urge to move his hand away, only realizing why as the feeling of a kick caused him to gasp aloud.
- Grows eager to leave his watches early as you progress into the late stages, wanting to be there if anything were to happen. Finding his heart always racing when looking at your belly in silence, it bothered him still, being the only thing he couldn't predict. If your mobility was stunted from the pregnancy, he would go so far as to ask Baldur to take day watches, with Heimdall taking nights.
- Going into labor, Heimdall would be soft yet snappy, making sure no one was to make any mistakes. Taking every one of your screams and painful hand squeezes, soothing you with words of encouragement and promises for the future. Finally, hearing a different cry fill the room, tears run down his face, trying but failing to hide them.
- Becomes such a cautious dad, not allowing his other family to see them until a month goes by, not wanting them to get sick. Wears a baby sling around the house while cooking, cleaning, reading to them as you heal from the birth. Showing Odin what a good father is, but when having to go back to patrols, his heart breaks, crying as he gives you the little one in the mornings before going off.
Tears threaten to spill from Heimdall's eyes while handing over your child, no longer allowed to spend days and nights with the baby. Now having to go back to his work for Asgard even with your reassurance, his pride was no longer with Asgard but with you and the new addition to your family.
Giving them a final shower of kisses before giving one to you, stepping back, taking in the sight before going off to his first day back. Sighing as the door finally closes, taking the baby only a few steps away before the door bursts open with a crying Heimdall wanting his baby back. (The man would definitely have the baby in the sling while patrolling the wall.)

| kratos
kratos could be one of the huge gods out there you ever met with his massive body. you couldn't tell his high exactly but you knew how you have to look up to see him, to make your presence knowledgeable. in the first times, it was hard to gain his attention, he had never looked down to see you. but now, it was all different. he didn't stop with recognizing you by looking down, no, he has started to kneel down. it was an odd feeling to see him like that; kneeling down to your level when you need him to, letting you climb to his back, like atreus did, when you are not be able to do so, picking you up whenever you want to reach a certain but higher point.
he didn't think he still had that side of him; wanting to do some naughty things while having intimate moments with you. he even didn't think how could he would find your small body so fragile but powerful enough to make him want to touch you, having you on his arms, under him or even top of him.
he liked how small you were compared to him because whenever you stood in front of him, you looked so cute. you were small but the strength you held always impressed him. he didn't show any disrespect or unwillingness about your high. contrary to that he found it amusing because of not only loving times he had with you while he was thanking your smallness, but also having unholy thoughts about it that he perfectly done.
in intimate moments, he would try not to harm you with his massive body even when his mind is filled with lots of naughty things he wants to do to you; just making you sit on his laps - thighs which were one of your favorite places to sit as you said, holding your waist with his huge hands and just fuck you like that, sitting you down and up on his cock while you put no effort to move, just moaning and preying for more as he makes your mind lose its functions, and breathing so fast and deeply with bouncing breasts in front of kratos' hazel eyes.
he didn't want to be rough in the first times, he didn't fulfill his dreams - naughty ones like this but he also couldn't help himself whenever you told him to be harder, deeper and rough which he could not deny. with your wishes, his lust and passion has increased, making him do the things both you and he wanted deeply in the lonely times you two had, far away from others' sights.
he could use your smaller body to move it effortlessly, changing from position to another.
he liked position that helped you ride him the most, seeing your little and beautiful body bouncing on his cock, making your breasts jump with the function, a moaning mess right top of him. he always find it cute how you wanted all of him inside of your walls even though he merely fit. you needed to be prepared for him which he liked to do; putting your body on a surface, higher one, to eat you - finger you just for preparing. you would cum a few times, not ready for him, never but the desire to have him inside you never decreased its power.
also, mentioning the fact about your body and desires always was a habit of him in the intimate moments.
"no," he would say when you asked him to fuck you without preparing - being a brat on the bed. "you are not ready." then, by using your lustful side, you would convince him to fuck you like that - raw and dry. "you are a nasty one, aren't you?" he would ask, "thinking you can take all of it without preparing. I do not wish to harm you but if this is what you want, I will give it but do not blame me for making you – a mess.” he just loves it – he just loves every feature of you and your body.
thor is so huge – he has a huge body features, making your mouth both open in shock and lust. thinking about whatever he can do with his massive body is not joke at all; it is something you always dream about after having lots of special moments that include passionate, lust and love on them.
| thor
he can pick your body like it means no weight at all, like you are a bird or something. he can break your neck like it means nothing. the power he holds within his body was something you could not imagine. he had strength – power. all his enemies had fear of him – with only a sight of his body, they could shake in pure fear. however, you never had fear of him, never because he was so sensitive towards you contrary to his massive body, looking dangerous and powerful – so much. he could break your body in a few seconds but he would never – he loved you so gently and cutely. he treated you in a way you felt – worshipped. all-father could never.
worshipping you was the thing he had from the start of your bond – and you never imagined him to even see you in the first place because of your small body – so small compare to his one. even if it was not likely him to acknowledge you – see you, he did, to your surprise and more surprising thing was that he found your smaller body so delicate significant even, making him want to protect from all the danger of all realms, shielding you with his huge one whenever there was something more powerful than you – but not him. you had your own strength which he found amusing every time but the realms held more dangerous thing than some draugrs.
he loved to protect you, yes – he loved to play with your smaller body whenever he had chance such as picking you up when your anger show itself, making him giggle and making you angrier. but he loved to see you in bed, table, or any surface he found that particular moments – intimate ones, standing there, looking so innocent and little but holding infinity in every part of you.
his favorite one was seeing you on his lap, sitting on one of them while seducing him with innocent words that turn into naughty ones. he also liked seeing you – or having you on a table, opened legs, showing your cute little pussy to him shamelessly, standing there and looking at him with an expression that say ‘come and get me, I’m ready for all of it’ which made him turn on more each time. he liked breaking tables, beds, or even walls while fucking you roughly – sometimes slowly and gently just to tease. you could feel his cock inside of your walls even after he had no longer was fucking you, making him giggle in a proud manner, “poor thing,” he would say, “not thinking how my cock will break her every time she becomes needy for it.”
| heimdall
heimdall, lord of the asgard realm, had only one weakness as he claimed; you. he always thought how little thing like you even made your presence likeable and knowledge to him. then, his loving side answered, always while showing how cute he found you firstly, only to find it sexier than everything he has seen in his lifetime; ‘she is magnificent’. he knew his power on you as well, making you think about him all day and night and no, he didn’t feel any guilt to read your mind again and again, not wanting to stop, especially whenever you think about nothing but him.
he loved to read your mind so often, but whenever they turned into naughty ones, he couldn’t help but smirk widely, amused by the imagination you had with that little brain of yours. how could you think that he would fit so easily? – he asked to himself, feeling a bit disappointed, but no, you wouldn’t get away with that idea and that was the thing that made him realize it was enough with to tease and take actions; doing all the things you imagined shamelessly, wanting him to fuck every hole you had, leaving non-touched place on your entire body that was small and innocent, ready to be break into million pieces with his touches – both rough and gentle.
he had egoistic features, indeed, but when your thoughts turned from innocent ones such as telling how cute he looked, how you found him magical – the most beautiful thing in all realms, to those specific and unholy ones; dreaming about how he could fuck you against a wall, how he could cover all of your body with his bigger one, leaving you nothing to see but only him. your thoughts about this particular field has increased each day, not realizing how he was reading your mind – reading your intentions, seeing how your thighs were pressing each other with the sight of his laps, even more, his cock that was visible from time to time whenever you touched closely, mostly his plans to tease you further and acting like he didn’t know anything about the whole situation.
one day, he came to your side, covering all of your body with his own while capturing you between his body and a wall, making you look up to see his face and lustful pretty eyes as his one hand began to travel on specific parts of your body. “thinking unholy things like I do not read them, little but nasty one,” he said, “I thought that you were doing them on purpose but no, you didn’t, because if they meant to be said in purpose, you would never think that I would fit you so easily.” with a blushed face, you would wait for last sentences of him before he took actions, “I will not – I will not fit so easily, but I will try and in the end, you will be in a position that even your little wet pussy will be so ready to take all in, not wanting me to come out, being a brainless little brat on my cock.”
the end. 💜

🌘 THE ECLIPSE a UNION of OPPOSITES 🌒
an analysis of the mythic motifs in dune part two through the lens of mythologist joseph campbell, and some predictions for dune messiah
• Divine Couple
• Death and Rebirth
• Redemption Through Divine Union
• House of Atreus
• Lunar-Masculine / Solar-Feminine
• Goddesses
Tumblr media Tumblr media
THE ECLIPSE
This motif has been connected to Dune since the first film’s promo, especially with the concluding track of Dark Side of the Moon accompanying the initial trailer. Some fans believed this theme had been dropped as it wasn’t very present in the first film. However the eclipse continued throughout the promo of the second film. This was because Part Two is where the real pay off is, already in the first 10 minutes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This concept is intrinsic to Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation. Since the first film I have been saying that Dune embraces the Lunar-Masculine (Paul) and Solar-Feminine (Chani). However beyond just that, Dune: Part Two showcases multiple pairings of the lunar-solar dynamic.
But before we jump into that, let’s establish the meaning of an eclipses in general mythology. Typically they are a symbol of death and renewal. Common interpretations have a beast devouring the sun, or a celestial couple evading or pursuing one another. These interpretations are consistent over and again in Dune.
What we will see, is that the greater Imperium holds a Solar-Masculine identity, but when it comes to Arrakis there is a distinct shift to the Solar-Feminine archetype.
PAUL as the MOON
There are an innumerable amount of connections. Bull motifs are reoccurring throughout the first film, where he grew up on a water world. After all, the moon is associated with the tides. He takes the name Muad’Dib, and one of the moons of Arrakis has the icon of a Muad’Dib aka Desert Mouse visible on its surface. And ultimately, Paul experiences rebirth in Part Two.
Tumblr media
The bull is a figure of sacrifice which aligns very well with the lineage of House Atreides which can be traced back to the House of Atreus and it’s curse of familial murder, betrayal and symbolic consumption. Sacrifice of the children in each new generation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
IRULAN and the GOLDEN LION THRONE
Starting here is a good place, because it shows the transition of the Solar-Masculine of the wider Imperium toward the Solar-Feminine of Arrakis. Irulan Corrino of House Corrino is the daughter of Emperor Shaddam who sits on the Golden Lion Throne. His reign is coming to a close as Paul rises on Arrakis, and with no male heirs Irulan his eldest is the successor destined for marriage. In this way Irulan becomes the embodiment of the Lion Throne, and her determination in Dune Messiah to produce Paul’s heir becomes clear. That function of the Queen Mother and how that feeds back into the Solar-Masculine as the King becomes tied to the lion and the throne once more.
In particular I would say her story is best reflected in the myth of the goddess Cybele who falls for Attis and when he falls for a mortal girl Cybele plots betrayal. Something for which she later feels guilt and tries to make amends for (Children of Dune).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PAUL and JESSICA
Their dynamic is incredibly complicated, but I think the opening of the film during the eclipse sums it up very well. You follow the path of the moon as it covers the sun, and as it meets its full coverage Paul is the one taking action in the fight against the Harkonnen. However as the moon passes by and the sun takes over again, Jessica emerges to save Paul’s life.
This was intentional by the filmmakers, as is revealed in the Art and Soul of Dune Part Two, DP Greig Fraser identified the exact time, date and location in order to shoot the sun as it appears directly behind Rebecca Ferguson.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jessica represents the sun on Arrakis, and in this scene we see how the moon dies into the sun to be reborn in their dynamic. It also lines up with motifs of the sun goddess giving birth to the sacrificial bull. Sacrifice toward this death and rebirth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What we see is the separation of mother and son that brings them back together in the same place. Paul takes the lead and rejects his mother’s influence, but she leads him toward the death and rebirth he must experience, and this brings them back to a common understanding.
Tumblr media
This is also why having Jessica sit the Atreides “throne” in the finale instead of Paul (who did so in the book) makes mythic sense. Because again we return to the Solar-Feminine mother as the throne, and her son as king. But in a different context here then what Irulan aspires toward.
Tumblr media
A SYMBOLIC UNION aka THE BULL SACRIFICE
The House Harkonnen family seal in the books is the griffin, which makes his introduction in a gladiator arena killing Atreides even more appropriate. Feyd’s birthday is also associated with a solar event. Because ultimately Feyd is the matador and Paul is the bull.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What works so fantastically about the dual, is how it is bathed in the sunlight. After all, the sun figure (day) is facing off against the moon (night) figure in this sequence. Plus the bull was the eventual demise of Paul’s grandfather who was a matador. This takes place at sunrise, and it’s a dual for the throne, where whoever is victorious inherits the Golden Lion Throne. The
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Denis specially describes the dual as a symbolic union, and it works on multiple layers. This bull sacrifice, is in essence the quote from part one of “when you take a life you take your own” so Paul killing Feyd is penetration, intimacy, it is rebirth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is also reminiscent of how Campbell describes the sun-moon twins of Navajo myth:
The two, Sun-child and Water-child, antagonistic yet cooperative, represent a single cosmic force, polarized, split, and turned against itself in mutual portions. The life-supporting sap-power, mysterious in the lunar rhythm of its tides, growing and decaying at a time, counters and tempers the solar file of the zenith, life- desiccating it its brilliance, yet by whose heat all lives.
— Joseph Campbell's Commentary from "Where the Two Came to Their Father: A Navaho War Ceremonial" by Jeff King and Maud Oakes
DESERT SPRING TEARS and DIVINE UNION
Tumblr media
There is a section in the Dune Encyclopedia that talks about the foundation of the Bene Gesserit beliefs. In particular the teachings of a certain ancestral memory personality, called Inanna (yes that is the name of the Sumerian goddess who was also in a divine union caught between life and death glad you asked) about the Kwisatz Haderach. It basically establishes that the entire premise of the Bene Gesserit and the Kwisatz Haderach is in essence the Divine Couple.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It specifies two mirrored dynamics the son saved/resurrected by the mother and the husband saved/resurrected by the wife. Inanna called them Au Set and Au Sar. The Kemet names for Isis and Osiris. The idea of the Bene Gesserit would have this as the mother of the KH, and the Corrino princess he would have married. But with things thrown off course, it represents outside their control.
In Dune, we see it between Paul and Chani. Like Isis who has the solar disc and Osiris who is tied to water and death, her lover has died and she is the one to revive him.
Furthermore the concept of mythical tears can be found in the goddess Freya (who arguably is compatible with sun-goddess motifs) who weeps when her husband Odin is lost to her.
But perhaps most compatible—the healing tears of a phoenix. A bird archetype similar to Isis as bird. This is where the yin-yang dynamic of Chani and Paul becomes most apparent, since the serpent is synonymous with the bull and therefore Paul who “makes peace with Shai-Hulud” encompasses the dragon (yang) as a complement to Chani’s phoenix (yin).
In the behind the scenes of Dune Part Two, the Maker Temple is said to be designed like the infinity symbol with the two circles (one of sand and one of water). Sand being death and water being life, but also the reverse. As the sandworm thrives in the sand but is drowned in the water. And Paul is stuck between life and death, literally laying between both pools, when Chani comes to resurrect him.
Tumblr media
This film literally has three kisses. Their first kiss when Chani says she will show him the way of the Fremen, their second kiss on screen when she says he will never lose her before going South, and the third symbolic kiss of life.
This marriage/death is also foreshadowed in Paul’s visions in Part One when Chani kisses him and then stabs him. Which is where we return to Isis and Osiris because Paul’s death state (dying again as we established, after killing Feyd, similar in a way to Set and Osiris) is where we will eventually get the twins Leto II and Ghanima with Leto II being the Horus in this equation.
Tumblr media
As the Pink Floyd lyrics say, the sun is eclipsed by the moon and this is captured in the heartbreak Chani feels over losing Paul and losing her people to the Lisan al Gaib. The Fremen way of life has been eclipsed and over taken by the Atreides and the Bene Gesserit. Here we see more of the concept of that beast devouring the sun from the beginning, verses the celestial couple dynamic.
Chani leaving the residency chamber is also reminiscent of certain myths like Amaterasu going into hiding, or the Inuit folktale about the sun goddess fleeing her moon god brother/lover who pursues her.
However the Dune Encyclopedia also talks about the concept of redemption (which is why in the film Mohiam asks Margot if Feyd is capable of redemption) of the “mate savior”. The Kwisatz Haderach. They would bring about a release from bondage through redemption and rebirth.
Tumblr media
Which is relevant to the dynamic of Paul and Chani in Dune Messiah for Denis, because he has said Paul is going to be looking to save his soul in part three, and how Paul and Chani come back together won’t just be explained away off screen between films. It will be that continued cycle of rebirth, through redemptive love. Rebirth as a whole in Dune is worth its own discussion, since all the different Jungian descriptions of it can be found within this universe.
Tumblr media
CONCLUSION
The eclipse, a lunar-solar dynamic representing the union of opposites, is very significant in Dune Part Two and sheds a lot of light onto what we can anticipate next in Dune Messiah, particularly in regards to the central romance between Paul and Chani and the changes Denis has made from book to screen.

The fact that Atreus and Kratos have such coordination in GoW 2018 (Atreus immediately knowing to jump onto Kratos' back when climbing etc) implies that they have, in fact, gone on outings together the past
I can't stop thinking about it

Maybe it’s while Atreus is gone and he’s feeling admittedly lonely, but Kratos begins to spend more times with the wolves.
It started because Freya said their fur was matted and how that could lead to disease and he couldn’t let that happen. He wouldn’t make them suffer like that nor would he fail his son like that. So, he begins to brush them with a comb he saw Atreus use for them once.
At first the two girls seem confused, Speki not all that happy with how rough he was at first but forgiving him quickly when he used more caution. She was as well behaved as ever after that, if not testing the man with her numerous licks.
Svanna refused to roll onto her back the first time, still not to sure on her masters father, but after feeling his gentle hands cup her maw and give a sound border lining on a coo upon her whining, she gave in. He wouldn’t approve of such sounds when they were ‘working’ but seemed to find them amusing otherwise. So, upon him bringing out the brush she would roll right over and from then on actually refused to not be that way.
Kratos also learns that Svanna prefers chicken while Speki likes deer and starts to make sure they get what they both prefer. The one time he mixed it up they both looked at him with such sad little eyes it reminded him of his son and he gave them double of their preferred meat.
Mimir would have loved to make fun of his friend when he first let the wolves into the house, breaking his own rule, but that night wasn’t the time. Kratos had awoken from a night mare with fear in his eyes and stormed out, coming back just moments later with the wolves at his side. They slept next to him on the floor and waited until he was ‘asleep’ and then jumped to cuddle up with him.
Mimir waited until a week later and it happened again, this time with him letting them have dinner isnide because it was ‘too hot for their fur outside’. Only then did he tease his brother, acting like he didn’t see him clutching the wolves fur as if it was the only thing keeping him alive.
Fur, that he also noted, was much cleaner and fluffier than it had been even before Atreus left.

It's so fucked up when you jump from god of war 4 straight into Ragnarok and Atreus suddenly climbs by himself instead of jumping on your back like NO COME BACK LITTLE SPIDERMONKEY! YOU'LL FALL AND I DON'T GET TO CASSUALLY SHARE AFFECTIONATE PARENTAL TOUCH WITH YOU ANYMORE

See You Again
(Heimdall/Reader SongFic)
Tumblr media
I’m trying to jump back into writing for my boy again. This song has been stuck in my head and it’s so beautiful that everyone needs to hear it. This will be like an AU to my long fic “Olden Times. Modern Thinking.” It’s the same reader but anything that happens in this fic does not impact the main storyline. It’s just supposed to be a cute lil thing for y’all.
Special shout out to my queen @engardeitsme for always slaying the writing scene and being a big inspiration for me~
The song is See You Again by Tyler, The Creator ft. Kali Uchis.
Tumblr media
You live in my dream state.
Relocate my fantasy.
It was so reckless of you to have followed Atreus to Freya’s old abandoned home. And even more so when you jumped through that vortex of ravens. When you realized they dropped you both off at the top of the wall instead of the outskirts of Asgard you knew things were going to be different than the game. Especially when you lifted your head and found yourself staring directly into the most beautiful violet galaxies to bless this world. Thank god for Santa Monica Studio.
“I don’t know who that is, but I assure you… they have nothing to do with my godly appearance.” Heimdall preened after reading your unmitigated thoughts. You should probably try to keep your thoughts under lock and key.
“You can try but I think we both know that won’t work.” He smirked down at you after he offered you a hand. Only one more thought crossed your mind as you could feel his unadulterated godly power beneath his skin. If he had wanted to, all he had to do was pull a little bit more on your hand and you’d be down an arm. Oh fuck.
Heimdall’s eyes filled up with mirth as he let go of your hand, perhaps a bit more gently then he had grabbed it.
“Yes, ‘oh fuck’ indeed.”
I stay in reality.
You live in my dream state.
It was, to put it mildly, fucking annoying to have someone be able to read your every thought. Especially when that person was a dickhead like Heimdall. Why was that prick allowed to be gorgeous? Like who gave him the right?
“You know it’s honestly quite pathetic how often your thoughts linger on me. Though I can’t blame you. I am, oh how did you put it…” he took a bite of his apple as he failed to look like he was actually thinking. “… oh right, gorgeous.” He tossed his half eaten apple aside as he smirked down at you. Eyes crinkled with amusement. You rolled your own as you shot back your own retort.
“You know it’s honestly quite pathetic how often you linger around me. Though I can’t blame you. You probably don’t get many compliments do you?” You uttered, trying to mock him. His mouth fell into a flat line as he walked closer towards you. He bent down to be closer to your height. Your eyes fell to Gjallarhorn before you quickly moved them back to meet his eyes as you made a conscious effort to not think about the game you were currently residing in. Their future.
Heimdall narrowed his eyes before immediately rolling them and standing back up to his full height. He immediately turned and walked away but not before slightly turning his head back towards you as he threw out the first backhanded compliment he’s ever given you.
“No need to be so feisty. All though your nothing compared to all the goddesses I’ve seen, you’re not too bad. For a mortal.” Despite being no where near nice, you felt your face heat up anyways. God he’s such an ass. And you fucking like him.
2020 2020 vision.
Cupid hit me, Cupid hit me with precision eye…
It’s been a week. A full week of being stuck in Asgard doing fuck all as Atreus went and did his little magic lessons with Odin. You tried to help out the staff here and there but it seemed they didn’t want you to. You couldn’t tell if it was because they saw you as a guest and therefore shouldn’t be doing chores or because they saw you as human and therefore were inept at even doing chores. Either way, you were stuck with nothing to do. Occasionally Thrud would show up to hang with you but for the most part, she also had her own things to do. So that left you alone with your thoughts.
Heimdall would often come by to annoy you. But for some reason his teasing had become more bearable. You can tell it was all on his part too. His snide remarks would hit less. He’s even slowed down on the constant reading of your thoughts. Though you don’t understand why. You huffed as you sat down on a bench just outside of a field of crops. Your mind began to wander to your home. And of all the things you were missing as your brain filled this void with music.
“…wonder if you look both ways when you cross my mind.”
The song and the beautiful music video played in your mind as you lost yourself to the beat, not knowing someone was watching it with you.
The video began to shift in your mind as you thought about the past week. Heimdall taking you on patrol so he could keep an eye on you, or so he says. You wondering out loud in the silence on why he would need to keep such a close eye on you, a measly mortal. Him not giving you an answer as he crossed his arms and looked over the New Midgard settlement. And that non-answer being answer enough for you.
You trying to find Heimdall in the humdrum of Gladsheim. Thinking about how maybe if you thought about him hard enough he might show up and whether or not that constitutes as praying. Heimdall showing up immediately after, answering your question that yes at least for him, it counts as praying. Heimdall then trying to poke fun at you by saying how none of your friends had time for you but never got to it as he saw in your mind that for some reason you came looking for him first. You frowned up at his frozen face as he backtracked and instead said if you had nothing better to do then at least be useful and help him brush Gulltoppr.
The past immediately transformed into the future in your minds eye as your heart beat quickened with images of what’s to come. Kratos, the intimidating yet kind god who took you in, pummeling Heimdall’s face into the ground.
Heimdall grasped his throat as these images played in your mind. The God Killer once again living up to his name as he squeezed the life out of him. Heimdall didn’t want to believe that was him on the ground. Couldn’t believe he was covered in his own blood. Missing an arm even. These images flashing through your mind seemed too real to be just visions of a potential future. It’s like you’ve witnessed them before. He noticed in this vision that you weren’t there when it happened. In this image you were holding onto some strange device. Your thumbs moving these strange black levers as a blue light emitted from it. There was a strong connection between you and Kratos in that moment. But before he can try to figure out what exactly was happening your mind warped once more.
You now were thinking about ways to alter this future. What could you say? What could you do? Is there anything you could do to persuade Heimdall that you didn’t want him to die? That for some ungodly reason, you actually like him and believed that he could be more than what his father wants him to be.
Heimdall felt a wave of emotions crash over him as he stared into the back of your head. He listened carefully to the next words you sung under your breath, hoping the breeze would carry them away from you, along with all the emotions tied to them. The breeze instead carried them straight to the man, the god, they were sung for.
“Can I get a kiss? And can you make it last forever?…”
Heimdall then wondered in his very long, very loyal life… if he was truly doing the right thing. He glanced towards the sky as black feathers danced together. Almost mocking him with the simple fact that he would never be able to dance with you. Not in the way you’d want him too.
“…I said I’m ‘bout to go to war. And I don’t know if ima see you again.”
No. Heimdall wouldn’t let you go to war. This war was his to fight in and his alone. He couldn’t be with you in the way he desperately wanted to. Lest you both face the ire of the All-Father. But he will make sure that you stay safe.
Heimdall turned on his heel as he left you to think. After all, he was given a mission by the All-Father. Shouldn’t be too hard, it’s only in Vanaheim after all.

Kratos x Reader Relationship Ramblings
A/N: Hello! God of War Ragnarok has quickly become one of my favorite games and Kratos is one of my favorite characters. These are some thoughts on what a relationship with Kratos would be like along with a brief mention of Mimir and Atreus at the end.  Meant to take place before God of War Ragnarok but after 2018 God of War. Was written with the intent of the reader being female but I don’t think I use any gendered language (correct me if I’m wrong tho!). Enjoy!
Word Count: 541
Warnings: None
Tumblr media
The beginning of your relationship is rocky and met with hesitance. Kratos has grieved Faye properly, and he does miss her dearly. At night the man wonders if Faye saw Kratos falling in love again after her death, was she mad about it? Would she be happy? These are only a handful of the doubts and concerns he has, don't even mention how he truly feels about being with you.
Kratos does not think he is worthy of love again. The man is still haunted by the blood on his hands and the ash that stains his skin. Kratos has lost so very much, especially those he loves romantically.
Kratos is quiet and not the most physically affectionate person out there. Kratos' main love languages when you first start a romantic relationship are acts of service and gifts. You offhandedly mention you need to chop more firewood or need a specific item. Next thing you know, the item is conveniently placed nearby and the wood pile is fully stocked.
When Kratos begins to feel more secure in the relationship, his anxieties and fears are soothed by your love. Expect the stoic man to engage in physical affection a bit more. It's small, Kratos resting a hand on the small of your back as he leans over you to see whatever little hobby you are doing. You’ll wake up in the morning to being securely wrapped up in his arms, his head resting in the crook of your neck. But that's on the rare chance you even wake up earlier than him, Kratos wakes up before the sun has even risen.
I believe Kratos would appreciate a lover who is capable and can take care of themself but not a fighter. If the situation called for you to defend yourself, you could but you don’t seek fights.
Your daily routine consists of normal household chores, you usually cook, clean, and fix the hole Atreus created in his shirt for the 3rd time that week. Not because Kratos is unable to but because the man thinks of food as just sustenance and you prefer your stews to not being plain with just deer meat.
Kratos spends his days' training, hunting, and doing physical upkeep around the home. The spartan is constantly finding something to fix, whether it be a hole in the roof or he refuses to believe his axe is sharpened enough Kratos is always doing something. It's impossible to get this man to do nothing for a moment.
You take Kratos's workaholic nature as a challenge, often distracting the man during the day. Atreus finds it entertaining as you playfully jump on the man's back, Kratos knows the second you walk out of the cabin you can’t scare him, pestering him until he stops whatever task he’s obsessed with and gives you attention.
Mimir enjoys your company, the head telling you stories to fill the silence as you work. Changing the book he is ready when he finishes.
Atreus adores you, you add calmer and warmer energy into the home which is a nice change of pace for the young man. Atreus is happy to see a softer side of his father with you, one he’s never really been able to see.

God of War: Ragnarok free DLC ‘Valhalla’ announced
Gematsu Source
Tumblr media
Publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment and developer Santa Monica Studio have announced God of War: Ragnarok free downloadable content “Valhalla.” It will launch on December 12.
Here is an overview of the downloadable content, via PlayStation Blog:
(Spoilers for God of War: Ragnarok below)
Journey to Valhalla
God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla will be an epilogue to the events of God of War Ragnarok that follows Kratos on a deeply personal and reflective journey. Set after the decisive battle against Odin and Atreus’ departure, Kratos has seen a path for himself that he never thought possible before. Brought to the mysterious shores of Valhalla accompanied only by Mimir, Kratos will enter its unknown depths to overcome trials within himself and face echoes of his past.
Combat Reimagined
The team here at Santa Monica Studio challenged ourselves to make something different from anything we have done before in God of War history. God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla celebrates the combat you know and love from God of War Ragnarok and blends it with fresh, experimental elements inspired by the roguelite genre. Each attempt in Valhalla will encourage you to master different aspects of Kratos’ arsenal as you face new combinations of enemies and some surprises along the way!
Fight, Learn, Grow
In Valhalla, defeat in combat is not the end of a warrior’s spirit. If Kratos falls, he will reawaken outside the doors ready for the next try. During each attempt, you will learn and adapt to the challenges Valhalla has to offer. The more you overcome, the more resources you’ll gain that can be put towards permanent upgrades that affect both Kratos and even Valhalla itself. Accumulating rewards and knowledge during your attempts will help you get ever closer to discovering the mysteries that await Kratos within.
Master Valhalla, Master Thyself
The shore of Valhalla humbles all those who wish to enter. Kratos must cast off his armor and equipment, and instead build towards both per-attempt and permanent rewards. Kratos will have access to all his weapons and fully-upgraded skill trees at all times, but must commit to a shield and path of Spartan Rage for each attempt. As you overcome the trials of Valhalla and explore its depths, you will make choices between temporary Glyphs for which Stats to upgrade, which Perks to select, which Runic Attacks to wield, and more. Each attempt can play out differently based on the rewards you choose, so keep your strategy in mind when making selections! Wise preparation, adaptability to the challenge at hand, and command of your abilities will be the keys to mastery.
Play in Style
Armor in Valhalla is for appearances only, so don’t hold back when customizing for style! Unlock different looks, then mix and match your favorites between attempts to get Kratos looking fighting fit for all your Photo Mode needs.
Choose your Challenge
God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla has five difficulty settings that have been specially crafted and tuned to the unique gameplay of the downloadable content. Each difficulty setting increases the rewards you’ll gain from battle, and you can swap freely among them between attempts (including to and from the highest difficulty setting, Show Me Mastery). As your skills grow, we encourage you to try out some of the higher difficulties to earn more rewards and test your mastery over Kratos’ arsenal! Between the five options, you will be able to select the level of challenge that is most fun for you. To help further customize your gameplay experience, the downloadable content will continue God of War Ragnarök’s standard for accessibility settings.
Play at Any Time
God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla is a separate experience from God of War Ragnarök, so you don’t need to worry about going in without certain upgrades, equipment, or story progress. If you think the DLC sounds fun, you can jump in at any time! However, if you are concerned about narrative or gameplay spoilers, we do recommend that you finish God of War Ragnarok first as God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla serves as an epilogue to the story of the base game.
A Gift to the Fans
If you own God of War Ragnarok, you will be able to download God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla for free on December 12 at PlayStation Store. On behalf of everyone at Santa Monica Studio, we want to wish everyone a happy holiday and extend our heartfelt gratefulness for the incredible support you’ve shown us over the past year. We truly are fans of our fans, and we hope you enjoy God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla when it comes out next week. We can’t wait for you to play and share your experience with us by using #GodOfWarRagnarokValhalla or #GoWRV on social.
God of War Ragnarok is available now for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

God of War characters in a Haunted House
Kratos - Doesn't jump, doesn't flinch, no reaction whatsoever. Only here because Atreus asked him to come.
Mimir - As Freya pointed out, Mimir babbles when he gets scared. Talks all the way through the house, about anything and everything.
Atreus - Tries to act tough to start with, tries to laugh off the scares, but jumps a foot into the air every jumpscare.
Angrboda - She literally squeaks when she gets a fright, it's really cute! Compliments the actors costumes.
Thrud - Laughs the whole time. Thinks the jumpscares are hilarious.
Skjoldr - Is crying and shaking the entire time. Doesn't know why he agreed to this. Hides behind Thrud.
Sindri - He took one step in the door, heard people screaming inside and walked right back out.
Brok - Not scared, but curses like a sailor anytime an actors comes near him.
Freya - If an actor screams at her, she will scream back louder to establish dominance. Freyr may or may not have tricked her into coming.
Freyr - Thinks it's funny to start with, will laugh at the scares and the costumes. But the longer he is there, the more scared he becomes. By the end, Freya has to practically carry him out.
Heimdall - He doesn't scream or jump, but flinches really badly. An actor jumps out at him and he is ducking and dodging like a pro-boxer on crack. You can only tell that he is scared by the fact that he is silent as the grave instead of his usual shit talking.
Baldur - Talks a big game, acts all tough, but the second he gets scared, he starts swinging. He isn't even looking where, he just starts throwing hands. Has to be physically restrained for the safety of the actors.
Thor - Like Kratos, he only comes because Thrud begged him to. Pretty much unfased by the jumpscares, but will growl if an actor comes too close to him or Thrud.

freedom. | quest for tyr [III]
Tumblr media
[main page] | [t.o.c] | [spellbook] | [ << | >> ]
young adult!atreus x reader
-> synopsis: The only times you had ever experienced adventure was through your books. It was hard to live an exciting life while trapped in Alfheim.
You know you're meant for something greater than wasting away underground.
[loosely based on the events of Gow: Ragnarok]
-> chapter warnings: all chapters contain spoilers, cursing, anxiety, vomit mention, fighting, fight scene not accurate to canon, blood, injuries, trauma mention
The day before was nothing compared to the pain you were in today.
Just opening your eyes was a task that seemed to take all of your energy, and your body was so stiff that the smallest movements hurt. Breathing, speaking, literally anything seemed impossible as you slowly sat up the next morning.
Atreus was by your side the second he heard you curse under your breath, gently helping you up and handing you a plate of whatever leftovers were scavengable from the night before. You ate slowly, listening to him, Kratos, and Mimir formulate a plan for the day.
"Earlier, I saw a mine down below, and Mimir saw tracks to another train we could take down there. Hopefully it'll be just as safe as the last one," Atreus smiled at you reassuringly during his last sentence, remembering how much you hated them.
You pursed your lips and side-eyed him. You were appreciative of the gesture, really, but heights just really weren't your thing and an old contraption that had your death written all over it didn't help.
You didn't take long to get back to traveling. You didn't feel like holding the trio back from anything they wanted to get done just because you were a little hurt. You could grin and bear it.
The pain was almost worth it as you saw more pretty views on the mountain top.
"Father..." Atreus interrupted the peaceful silence. "What if a war with Odin isn't just Tyr's to fight? What if it's ours too?"
"War is not the only way." Kratos responded.
"But we're gods. Better gods. We're trying to stop Ragnarok, to help people, and what if the only way to do that is war?"
"Atreus."
"I'm just not sure we should immediately jump to that conclusion." You said a bit nervously, "My home was— and still is— torn apart by war. It's not something you really want, especially when you've experienced it."
"Wh— I thought you were on my side!" Atreus whined, turning to you as he continued to walk backwards.
"I'm on your side with stopping Ragnarok." You shrugged, "I just really, really want to look for any way that doesn't involve war. It's not fun."
Atreus continued to argue with you as you came upon the rest of the train tracks, but you knew it wasn't a serious thing. He had a playful glint in his eyes— one he had often when he decided to mess around with people.
You watched in almost awe as Kratos lifted the train and realigned it on the tracks. It amazed you how he barely broke a sweat— he must have been an incredibly strong god.
Atreus was the first in. Then Kratos and Mimir.
They looked at you expectantly and you shuffled your feet, looking to find a solid way up into the creaky, wooden cart. You really, really didn't want to go in.
A hand appeared in front of your face.
"Here," Atreus helped hoist you up, keeping you steady as the train car squeaked once more under the added weight. He remembered your apprehension and patted your shoulder. "We'll be fine. We don't have much farther to go now."
"The Kraken hatchling gave you a stone." Kratos pointed out as the train began moving. His voice was a good distraction from your incessant urge to look out the window and scare yourself even more.
"The Kraken...? Oh, Dinner. Yeah, it's covered in algae. I was thinking we could show it to Brok and Sindri when we got back. Here." Atreus tossed it to his father, who pocketed the stone. "Okay, we came looking for Tyr because we don't trust Odin, right? If you think about it, war could— uh oh—"
The train became shakier and shakier, it's noisy wheels creaking even louder. You stand up in a panic, frantically looking over at your companions, but they look just as confused.
A creature— a Grim, you recalled— grabbed onto the window ledge closest to Kratos, trying to scratch its way inside. Kratos quickly punched it and sent it flying, but there wasn't much time until another Grim appeared in its place.
You swallowed your nerves and raised your spear, using the butt of it to knock out a Grim from the window on the other side.
"Skjalfa!" You cried, sending them out just as quickly as they were coming in. You wanted nothing more than to use your favorite little fire spell, but with a wooden train like this you knew you'd probably set it on fire too.
"Atreus, look for a brake to stop the train!" Mimir called out, "Should be a lever of some sort!"
"I found it— but it's stuck!"
"Try harder!" You shook out your hand as you hit a Grim that had actually made it through the window. You grabbed it and threw it back out, hitting two others that threatened to enter and sending them all back.
"I'm trying! But— it's—"
The lever broke in two. The handle flew out of the window you were guarding.
You all could only stare at each other for a moment before the train began to fall— the one thing you prayed to the Nords wouldn't happen.
"Shit." Atreus grabbed your arm and pulled you between him and Kratos, presumably to shield your fall or protect you from the rest of the Grim. "Shitshitshitshitshit—"
"Ow!" You yelped as you hit the ground.
Kratos was up before you could even fathom what was going on. He pried at the opening at the top of the train, climbing out and yelling out a rough "Get up!" before taking out his axe and disappearing from your sight.
He reached back down once he returned, grabbing both you and Atreus and setting you down on top of the cart. You were definitely put down more gently than Atreus, but you wouldn't point that out.
"I can't believe we surv— are you serious?" Atreus was frustrated now, more Grim coming from seemingly out of nowhere to attack you.
You whipped around to survey your surroundings, choosing to stay further away from the heat of the fight. The headless troll that laid to your right told you what Kratos had done earlier, and you silently thanked him for making things easier.
You pointed your spear at Grim that tried to tag-team Kratos or Atreus, choosing to save your magic energy and use some Dark Elf skills. An energy beam shot out from the tip of your spear, slicing the unsuspecting Grim in two.
This continued for only a few moments longer, then you finally could drop your weapon. You still held onto it tightly, though, still on guard. You jumped down to rejoin everyone.
"That was crazy." Atreus breathed out.
"You said it, little brother."
"That was awful." You shuddered. "I hate heights. I also now hate trains. I knew something was going to happen."
"You jinxed us, then!" Atreus teased, "You can't sit there and think bad thoughts and then expect good things to come. You gotta look on the bright side."
"I didn't jinx shit." You mumbled, watching as Kratos looked around for where to go next. "I was looking on the bright side. I felt like I was going to pass out, and if I was unconscious at least I wouldn't feel it when I died."
"That's— that is not what I meant. Just, come on, I think Father found something."
It was a small crawl space, which all things considered could be either better or worse than falling off of the side of a mountain on a train.
Atreus went first, then you, followed by Kratos. You noticed he always took up the back— probably to protect you both from whatever may sneak up behind. Smart.
"Quite the mouth you had back there, lad." Mimir broke the silence.
"It's just a word." Atreus rolled his eyes. "I've heard way worse from Br-"
"The word does not matter. You lost control." Kratos reprimanded. His voice was always stern, but this held an even harsher tone.
"We were falling. Through the air." Atreus defended, "I thought we were gonna die." He gestured to you, "She says it all the time!"
"She was not raised the same way you were. What is acceptable for her is different from you. Is that truly what you wish your last words to be?"
You were glad that was Kratos's view, because the second Atreus brought you into it your heart seized. You did not want to get scolded by Kratos.
"No." Atreus gave up arguing. You thought that was a wise choice.
"In moments of crisis, panic does nothing. Harness it. Let it serve you."
You let his words sink in as you came across another area, this time finally in the open. You kind of wanted to laugh— Kratos wasn't even talking to you, and yet you held onto his words more than you'd ever held onto your own father's. Kratos had a lot of wisdom, but Atreus wouldn't heed it.
You figured it just be a father-child thing for you and Atreus to never listen.
"What is this?" You looked around the area in a bit of awe, taking in the wooden structures and water wheels around you.
"The Jarnsmida Pitmines, lass." Mimir answered joyfully, as if he was reminiscing on something. Probably some memories that he has in that infinite brain of his.
"Look on the ground. Tracks." Atreus pointed out, "They must lead into the mines."
"And what exactly is in these mines?" You stood beside him, eyeing Kratos once more as he studied the area. It seemed like every place you went to had some gods-awful puzzle just to make it through and it made your brain hurt.
"Hopefully Tyr." He smiled at you, and you pursed your lips into a half-smile in return. Your adrenaline was wearing off and the impact from the train crash made your injuries from the Dreki feel brand new again.
You took a deep breath, only being able to inhale so deeply, and nodded. "Hopefully. I just want him to be here and us not just find another clue and be on a wild goose chase."
"This is a super prominent mine, I'm pretty sure. If he's anywhere in Svartalfheim, he's gotta be here."
Atreus's words did little to comfort you, but you couldn't say much as Kratos summoned him to help with a mechanism to open the mine.
You reached into your pocket and toyed with a piece of paper— the one Sindri gave to you before you left. You didn't have time to read the rest of the spells he had written down for you, so you pulled it out to scan over it.
You already knew the three first ones, even if you hadn't gotten to use most of them yet: 'Logi: fire. Sverð: sword. Verja: defend.'
Turning the paper over, you saw three more spells written down in neat handwriting— characteristic of Sindri.
'Iss: ice. Kanna: search. Ausa: water.'
You hummed. One of these spells was not like the other. Every one of them seemed self-explanatory, except for Kanna. What could it mean to search? Would it help you find something?
Folding the paper back in your pocket, you took a deep breath and closed your eyes. You felt like you'd have to have an idea of what you were trying to search for, so you sent your intentions to something simple.
You'd ask for it to find anything with magic in it.
"Kanna."
You waited for a second. You waited for something— a feeling, a voice, a tug, anything. Assuming nothing had changed or you'd done the spell wrong, you opened your eyes only to gasp out loud.
Everything around you was covered in a very, very translucent light blue. You looked around— the weapons on Kratos's back glowed a bright blue, much more opaque and noticeable than the blue that spanned the rest of the terrain. Your own spear emitted the same light, as did the palms of your hands where you felt the burn when you did your fire spell.
Atreus's bow was blue, and so was Mimir's head. Small rocks that blocked entrances glowed as well— rocks that you or Atreus could easily use Skjálfa to destroy.
Ah. Kanna did work.
And from the way Kratos, Mimir, nor Atreus said anything about the sudden shift in color from the original terrain, you could assume you were the only one seeing it.
You whispered the spell under your breath again and slowly, the blue hue faded from your vision. The mines were restored to their normal, dull brown color.
'Kanna.'
Your intention this time included living things— bugs, monsters, whatever.
The blue crept back into your vision like a rapid flood, but this time the brights were different. You could see Kratos and Atreus shining brightly as they worked together. Mimir's blue flickered a bit, but it made sense. Was the decapitated cursed head really alive?
You could see little glowing dots shining through rocks like x-rays, showing you where all the little bugs hid underneath.
More brights caught your eye as they moved towards Kratos and Atreus.
"Guys, watch out!" You called, "Logi!"
Fire erupted from below the feet of the monsters. You were able to see them easily with how they shined against the rest of the area.
You were aware of many more, but this was starting to hurt your eyes. You turned off the spell and rubbed your eyes. They felt sore— sunken in deep and dryer than usual. You'd definitely have to use this sparingly, or risk a massive headache.
Kratos and Atreus quickly took out the few Wretches that threatened them and as soon as it began, it was over.
The three of you— plus Mimir, but you really couldn't figure out if he counted as a full person or not— stood in front of a crane, watching water flow through it. A large wooden box blocked your path to the next ledge of land. Your hands were on your hips and nobody spoke, trying to find something to help you get across.
"Looks like the water powers the crane that's keeping the cargo up." Atreus pointed out.
"Think freezing it could stop the water?" Mimir suggested.
You quickly held out your hand, aiming it near the end of the crane where the water flowed out. "Iss!"
Ice crystallized in the middle of the flow, encompassing part of the crane in cold fractals. The water built up on the other side of the crane and began to pour out of one of the sides, effectively stopping the flow from hitting the water wheel that was beneath it. The cargo box lowered and you made your way across.
"When did you learn that trick?" Atreus asked as you continued to push forward, coming across the next stupid little platform of puzzles.
You shrugged. "Just got a little help from some people."
"Atreus, Y/n, come."
You headed towards Kratos, who assumed a squatting position near the next contraption you came across. Atreus automatically stepped into his hands and was hoisted up onto the wood, and then it was your turn. You assumed he wanted you to do the same, so you quickly followed and hoisted yourself the rest of the way up.
You explored the area for a minute, Atreus straying away from you for a second before he spoke up. "Father, there's a gate up here heading towards the entrance to the mine. If you can get up here, we'll need your help lifting it."
"If..." Kratos mumbled under his breath.
"Oh come on, you can jump that! Your knees aren't that bad."
"Atreus." Kratos warned. He used his axe to freeze a water flow that was causing a platform to move unstably and jumped across.
"I hope you can make that jump!" Atreus joked again and you elbowed him in the side. "Hey!"
"Give the man a break." You laughed.
Kratos soon joined you both and you headed towards the entrance of the mine. It was covered in debris and a gate that seemed quite heavy. Atreus was right about needing Kratos's help.
"I sure hope Tyr is here..." He mumbled.
"Atreus, we seek information." Kratos reminded him. Atreus rolled his eyes.
"I know. Stop acting like I'm trying to start a war."
"Yet you do not say otherwise--"
"Brothers, maybe we can lay this to rest a bit, eh?"
You were thankful for Mimir's interjection. It was always awkward to be in a a group with two people arguing, but it felt a bit more powerful between Kratos and Atreus. They were both very prominent, strong presences and you knew enough about them already to know that neither of them were likely to back down should the conversation get more heated.
Kratos was right-- you didn't want to start a war. Atreus had told you numerous times that war wasn't his intention, but once more Kratos seemed right to you. He wasn't denouncing it very hard. He may be against the idea of a war, but he wasn't taking many precautions to truly prevent it.
You continued on in silence, helping out if needed but mostly staying in the back. This wasn't your journey— you were just lucky enough to be allowed to tag along. You did what you were asked, including helping Atreus push back a cart that blocked the way to the mine, finally revealing the rest of the entrance and—
"Sindri?"
The dwarf waved awkwardly, as if he hadn't just appeared out of nowhere for the second time in Svartalfheim. "Got something else for you." He waited until you all were near to continue. "Since you're currently lacking a light source--sorry-- and have no way of seeing exactly what untold horrors lurk in the dark, these will help."
"Thanks for making me feel better." You mumbled under your breath. Sindri gave you an apologetic look before pulling out three... things.
"Okay, back to your exploring now. Off with you."
"Thanks Sindri," Atreus commented, "What, uh, do you mean by untold horrors?"
You were wondering the same thing, but Sindri gave no answer. You all put away the light sources that he had given you and turned back to where the dwarf stood, but he was nowhere to be found.
"How does he do that?" You tilted your head.
"No idea." Atreus sighed, but then turned to you and grinned. "Let's get going. It looks like the actual entrance to the mine is blocked, but there's gotta be another away."
"This way." Kratos began moving.
"Nice. Not a dead end. Let's see where this goes."
You jumped down from a ledge into a deep pit-like area. A few Wretches came from the shadows, but you all were able to quickly cut them down. They were nothing more than a nuisance now-- this weird lizard things were so annoying.
Atreus used his bow's sonic vibrations to break a few rocks to reveal a crawlspace. You internally cringed at the tight quarters. After being locked up your whole life, you didn't necessarily want to be trapped again in something even smaller. Nevertheless, you followed after Atreus with Kratos once again taking up the back.
"It certainly smells like we're headed into a mine." Mimir piped up.
"I think I can hear the water too."
"Slow down, Atreus. Take care. Be ready."
If Kratos had a bad feeling, then you did too. Especially once you heard the loud, gurgling roar of a monster when you crawled out of the space. The area you were in now was rather open and spacious, save for the pillar in the middle, the numerous Wretches that seemed to swarm around your feet, and the giant... creature across the room that grew angrier by the second.
"What the Hel that?" You grabbed your spear and held it across your front.
"It's called a Bergsra." Mimir answered, his voice echoing through the cavern as Kratos took out a few Wretches.
"Its like the Grim if Thor decided to procreate with them." You huffed, kicking a Wretch that decided to bite your ankle. "Ugly and huge."
The Bergsra did not like your analogy and yelled out loud enough to shake the cavern walls. You watched as Kratos landed his first hit against it, and decided to join in on the fun. You ran towards it while Kratos distracted it, but you must have severely pissed it off when you called it an offspring of Thor. The Bergsra turned toward you and knocked its head back, lurching a giant green blob out of its mouth in your direction.
"Verja!" You quickly yelled out. Defend.
Light emitted from your non-dominant arm-- the one that wasn't holding your spear-- and you instinctually held it up as the blob came closer. It didn't hit you, instead exploding across the large bronze shield you had managed to conjure.
You looked at your arm in surprise. In hindsight, Verja was a lot more self-explanatory than you'd expected. Especially considering the spell next to it-- Sverð-- was literally sword.
Another green blob was coming your way. Kratos had been knocked back for a second and Atreus was attacking from long distance, so the Bergsra's attention was once more turned towards you. In a split decision, you rushed towards the creature and it's blob, using your shield to hit the poison back at it. It hit the Bergsra in the face and it roared out in pain, clawing at its face.
Kratos was back up and threw his blades towards the Bergsra's back. They latched on and he propelled himself forward, kicking it down and landing on top of it. Using his bare hands, Kratos grabbed the head of the monster and twisted. It came off in a loud, gruesome snap and you had to look away from the scene just to keep your breakfast.
The Wretches stopped attacking as the Bergsra was killed and crawled back into the little nooks and crannies that they came from. And it was over.
"Ugh, the smell these things leave behind is so gross." Atreus groaned.
"A small consequence for disturbing their home." Kratos replied. You tilted your head at how he almost  humanized them.
"...Let's keep moving."

PREVIOUS|CHAPTER FOUR|NEXT
PAIRING: Atreus x Female Reader (Romantic) (Slow-burn)
SUMMARY: The trio hunt down a boar, but soon discover that a witch is its dear friend.
“It is important for a warrior to keep his skills sharp.” Kratos said as he let Atreus take the lead. (Y/N) focused on listening to her surroundings, trying to pinpoint what each sound was; she wanted to sharpen her skills too.
“Dripping water. Rushing waves. A cool breeze. A harsh wind. A falling tree. A falling leaf.” She mumbled under her breath and continued, “And…loud stomping feet!” (Y/N) warned the others.
In an instant, a gigantic troll rushed in, crushing the foes before him. Atreus yelped in surprise while Kratos immediately jumped into battle, already proving a challenge for the troll. (Y/N) and Atreus assisted him when needed, leading to a swift victory.
Walking past the flowing river, the trio enters a small cave, trailing out towards a blinding light. “Boy… I hear your animal ahead.”
“I knew it was a boar!” Atreus exclaimed happily. (Y/N) gave him a pat on the back, a silent way of saying all his hard work with Faye paid off. They hopped down into a misty and cold scene.
Slightly up ahead, an unusual boar was spotted. Atreus crept up behind a rock, Kratos and (Y/N) following closely behind. Kratos knelt down next to Atreus and whispered him commands.
“Shoot when you are ready. Remember…draw to your chest. A wild boar’s hide is thick.” He instructed as Atreus readied his bow and arrow. Atreus steadied his focus and shot at the boar, only for the arrow to bounce right off as if a shield was guarding it.
Even (Y/N) made an audible perplexed sound. “Maybe you should’ve shot better, beetle.” She teased.
“Maybe you should’ve been quieter, bug.” He replied back with a smile, the joke lifting his spirits. “But still…I hit it. Didn’t I?” Atreus asked Kratos. “I did what you said and it looked like it bounced off. Could the boar be magical?”
“Hunh. What do you think?” Kratos responded.
Atreus looked at (Y/N) and then back at Kratos. “It looked weirder than any boar I’ve ever seen…”
“Get after it then. Both of you.” He motioned for both (Y/N) and Atreus to chase it down. However, just some steps further, they all ran into what seemed to be an abandoned village.
As they walked through, (Y/N) took notice of a see-through raven, and grabbed her head in a sudden jolt of pain.
A baby crying in the cold as a similar raven flew around it. Eventually, the raven flew off.
The sudden sensation caused everything to ring loudly in (Y/N)’s ears. She forced herself to toughen it out, not wanting to worry the others.
They continued to travel forward until a pillar blocked their path. “Look! It squeezed under that pillar!” said Atreus. Kratos lifted it up, allowing the kids to go first, and then placed it back down, now facing the boar.
Atreus crouched down again, this time determined to make his shot. Kratos knelt down to aid the boy, only for him to be swayed away. “I got it.” Atreus stated.
“Elbow up. Steady hand. Relax…accuracy over speed.” He mumbled. Atreus took the shot and it landed on the boar, causing it to shake and run off in fear and pain.
“YES!” He cheered.
“Do not lose it!” Kratos quickly reminded him. Atreus and (Y/N) excitedly chased after it, so caught up in the moment they didn’t realize how far they were running. Before Kratos could follow them he crouched down and picked up the knife, which Atreus had dropped as he ran off. When he looked up they were nowhere to be found.
“Boy?? Girl??” He shouted in confusion as he ran after them. His voice grew louder the further he ran. Kratos could slightly hear their voices in the distance.
“I found him!” Atreus exclaimed.
“WE found him!” (Y/N) retorted.
“Yeah, yeah.”
The two kept chasing after the boar. “He’s slowing down!” Atreus announced.
“Wait for me, boy!” Kratos yelled out. (Y/N) looked back for a second, having heard it, and tried to grab onto Atreus. But the moment she turned back he was already gone. Her nerves began to pile up in an instant.
“ATREUS!” She shrieked. Kratos didn’t know what was going on, but he quickened his pace at the sound of her cry.
“Father, Hrólfr, over here!” Atreus called out. The two kept running after him.
“He’s went to the left, Kratos!” (Y/N) shouted out, hoping he heard her as she kept running ahead. Eventually she came upon Atreus down on his knees in front of the laying down boar. A woman towered over him.
“WHAT DID YOU DO?!?” She screamed at them.
“I’m sorry!” Atreus meekly replied. (Y/N) reached for her sword, aiming at the woman. The latter glared between her and the boy, whilst trying to comfort the boar.
Kratos finally made his way through, hopping down into the autumn colored surroundings. “We didn’t know he belonged to anyone.” Atreus said, motioning for (Y/N) to lower her sword. But she didn’t budge. Not until Kratos told her to.
“He doesn’t. He’s my friend.” The woman said.
“The boy was following my command.” Kratos stated.
“Then help fix this.” She said, grabbing his arms and placing them on the wounded area. “Hold here please. HOLD. I said. He’s losing blood.” She quickly started to conjure magic from her pouch and hand. The kids watched anxiously.
“The last of his kind in all the realm and you shoot him.” She said aggressively. “You needed food?” She questioned.
“Target practice…,” Atreus answered. (Y/N) elbowed him to keep quiet.
“Target practice…,” she repeated, looking at Kratos disapprovingly.
“I’m so so sorry…,” Atreus apologized again, but his words fell on deaf ears.
“Keep that pressure on.” She instructed. “The blame is mine. I should have kept a closer eye.”
“Will he die?” Atreus asked.
“I will not let him.” She answered. The woman moved her attention towards Kratos, “You—the arrow cut a tideway inside him. Find both ends and hold them tightly.” Kratos did as she instructed.
“Start with the left side. Grab it and hold.”
“Now the right side. Hold it tight.”
“Good. Now pull them together—line them up.”
Kratos had done as she guided, the woman now casting a spell. “Sunnan-þoka.” Atreus and (Y/N) looked up at the woman in amazement.
“You’re a witch…,” Atreus said. She ignored his gaze, looking back at Kratos.
“I can’t finish the healing here. My home is just beyond the trees there. You’ll carry him?” She asked Kratos. Atreus and (Y/N) looked towards him, waiting for his answer.
“He must not die.” She reiterated. Kratos stood up, firmly holding the boar in his arms. “Good. He seems stable and calm for now.” She walked towards a blocked path, picking up dirt from the ground, and muttered the spell “Greiða.”
In an instant, all the large vines cleared the way, showing an open path further ahead.
“This way.” She said. Atreus and (Y/N) walked forward with intrigue, glancing all around the colorful scenery. They all followed the witch of the woods, (Y/N) still on guard.
“That bow’s a little big for you, isn’t it?” She asked Atreus.
“My mother made it for me. Said I’d grow into it.” He answered.
“I’ve never seen you in these woods. She must miss you being away from home.”
“She…shes dead.” Atreus fought back tears. Just uttering those words felt like being stabbed in the gut. (Y/N) pat his back softly as a temporary comfort.
“We’re taking her ashes to the highest peak in the realms.” (Y/N) gave Atreus a slight tug, signaling him to not spill too much.
“Ashes?” The witch said.
Atreus ignored (Y/N) and continued talking. “It was her last wish.”
“Boy!” Kratos, having enough, scolded Atreus.
“I’m…sorry for your loss.” The witch said.
Walking a short distance further, they made it towards what appeared to be a gigantic tree.
“We’re here.” She said.
“You live in a tree?” Atreus asked.
“Not in it,”–she corrected–“below it.” She shouted another spell, “Heimili!” And the tree rose up, revealing itself to be a living turtle.
“Look!” Atreus pointed excitedly. (Y/N) jumped up and down, trying to contain herself.
Maybe this woman wasn’t so bad after all.
