Okay, this is technically a reblog, but since I'm going to (very personally) disagree with a lot of these, I thought it was kind of rude to actually reblog... Everyone is so welcome to their opinion about what they'd like to see coming up!

Things i demand wish to see from MCU Spiderman moving forward:

—Mature and confident Peter who is able to take charge of any situation as an experienced hero

Yes, except no. He's still 17 at the end of NWH. Yes, he's way overpowered and has been through a ton of crap and lost so much, but he's still a kid. An adolescent. An immature human. If he's 25? Sure. I'm all over confident, adult Peter. But if it's right after, and he's like 18/19? Still a kid, and he needs support and mentoring. Even if he's 25, he needs support.

—Spiderman swinging all over NY🕸🕸🕸🕸🕸

Yes, please. New York is his place. I want to see him in New York, but I’d also like to see the citizens of New York step up for him. There was so much heart in Spider-Man 2 when the New Yorkers protected and helped Peter. 

—Fun and complex fight scenes!!!!!!! Peter webbing ppl up during fights, hand to hand combat, using the environment for attacks.

Yeah, this is always great! This is what we’re here for! (Well, that and all the fun relationships the MCU has tried really hard to just delete, but…)

—Step UP the cinematography. Give MCU SM his own distinct visual style like Raimi and Webb did b4

Of course! One of my favorite things is the fun little mini film on Far From Home when he’s taking down the Manfredi family. Is that who they were? I don't feel like looking it up right now.

YES. I want to see the Avengers in “our” world. The space stuff just never hits the same. Or the inner space stuff. (Looking at you, Quantumania. While I enjoyed-ish the movie, my favorite part was at the beginning where Scott was just walking around being kind of normal…) And Spider-man belongs in New York.

Mmm. See, I think this wouldn’t hit the same. The MCU has deleted all the people from Peter’s life who would even care if this happened to him, so it’s not going to have as much impact. They’d have to fix that before I’d care.

What I'd like to see? Really?

There are all sorts of stories that would be interesting, but I don't want a brand new "reset" Spider-man. I want to see him dealing with what happened in NWH, but finding ways to make it better, build a new team, get the support he needs and deserves while they fight against some bigger issue. Kingpin would be just fine.

I'd love to see Peter joining up with Kate, Yelena, Cassie, and Kamala. I'd love to see Bucky and Sam, or Clint (and Clint's kids!!!) becoming part of his life and helping continue to mentor him. Captain Marvel, Rhodey, ANYONE. Help this hero out while he finds his footing again after so much loss and trauma.

Happy and Pepper. Morgan. Anyone, seriously. And I'd love to see Peter get some counseling that is actually helpful.

okay so I have this gay or queer reading of polarize.

on a basic level the lyrics are about Tyler pleading with God for an answer to a problem, or more broadly to separate life into black and white "good" and "bad".

which makes sense considering that's the whole thing with Christianity from my experience. There's clear wrong and right and even things that seem gray can't actually be gray. that's what they tell u.

also its interesting to note that black and white thinking is psychologically considered a bad thing and also a tool for indoctrination.

around blurryface era was when Tyler made that puzzling and strangely worded tweet about gay rights and not being able to handle talking about it right now. I know people assume that just meant he was homophobic but I know the perspective of someone who was in that kind of religious community, it's kind of assumed if u are the least bit progressive in your beliefs you aren't a real Christian. (again based on that type of xtian community). So even if Tyler personally wasn't homophobic, he was basically raised to endorse homophobic beliefs in spite of his own doubts.

Tyler talks a lot about doubt in lyrics. so that is a connection to, a lot of people doubt because they realize the church's stance on LGBT rights is fucked up and hurts people. it's a crack in the foundation.

I think he was struggling with the idea that the church told him people harmlessly being themselves was a sin. and that god hated it. and he's asking god about that.

But ALSO it's not just an issue separate from him he's talking about in the song!

To the Lyrics:

"help me down, those stairs is where I'll be hiding all my problems" it's HIS problems not just other people's.

"though I am running to you all I feel is deny, deny, denial"

to me this obviously read as him running to God. but like, what if it was also running to a person? what's a common emotion people with internalized homophobia feel? denial. they deny their feelings.

If it were both these meanings at once, it paints a picture of chosing between god and a person he loves.

then later "I have none to show to the one I love but denial" god that's so fucking raw and sad!!! I have none to show but denial!!! to the one I love!!!

Christian dudes also write songs about God that sound gay too so keep that in mind

A fingerprint. What do fingerprints do? They identify someone. It's about identity.

Also, if each song is about a different aspect of blurryface, of his insecurity, then this is saying hes insecure about who he is, who he loves, or his religious identity.

some thoughts about sydney and carmy being the same character and how that impacts my feelings both positive and negative towards the syd/carmy ship. 

i’m not a sydcarmy anti like. i think ‘carmy and sydney shouldn’t date’ is kind of a watered down statement and i’m not into the notion that ‘he doesn’t deserve her’ or ‘she’s too good for him’ for a few reasons: 1. statements like this almost never take race into account. saw a lot of this when r*ylo was made canon and the prospect of f*nnr*y (which, imo f*nnr*y hopefuls were right to assume was the endgame after eps 7 and 8) was permanently shelved. i can give the benefit of the doubt when it’s gay fans shipping gay ppl together, though i’m not without my personal criticisms of that either, but like, i’m wary of the fact that there is still a lot of opposition to interracial relationships espesh when one person is black and especially especially when one person is a black woman. basically, i think you can even take ~heterophobia~ too far if you’re not aware of intersectionality.

2. good people make poor decisions all the time lmao. and i love when they do it in fiction. tickles the brain, inflames the loins yk. idt it makes sense to suggest sydney is above that when she tells us repeatedly that she fucked up multiple times and that’s how she landed in her current situation. when she’s passionate about something and when she thinks she’s doing the right thing, she’s shown to be reckless. this is something carmy notes many of her past employers said about her. so i’m not about that being the reason. 

3. carmy is basically the exact same - an essentially good person who made a bunch of poorly thought-out decisions as a result of his passion and his pain. 

point 3 is where my op on this ship goes. they’re... they’re the same guy! they’re the same girl!! they’re the same sad, hurt, tortured artist girlboy, capable of great joy and wanting to share that joy with others but stunted by their flaws, the treatment of them by others and the systems they inhabit. all to varying degrees depending on who we are talking about - which is another post. 

they’re at various points in those journeys. i think sydney realized pre-canon that she needed to take responsibility for her circumstances and find a way to make a better life for herself in the process of that she realized that her life goals of perfecting her craft and then using it to spread joy to others weren’t lost to her forever. 

carmy is just embarking upon that journey, and as fate would have it, the blueprint decides to take a job at his restaurant. i’m more interested in how they’re two sides of the same coin than i am in them hooking up - while still admitting that them hooking up could be another way of exploring how they are two sides of the same coin. 

and like, i don’t think it’s unbelievable that they could find each other and maybe a lesser show would have them do that and that could be interesting to me for those very specific reasons explained above, but i still think it’s lazy and tropey in a way that is kinda boring to me and i would straight up hate for it to happen any time soon because i wanna see them push-pull each other more in this boss-employee relationship they have. 

speaking of them being a boss and an employee i think that further proves my point about them being the same guy (gender-neutral) he is her boss but only technically because he owns the restaurant. it takes him what, three episodes to make her his right hand? “we want to change this restaurant right?... ... i will dial business, you are everything else” they have the same goals, and he makes them equals. she’s his closest ally in the restaurant, it’s them against the world, against their separate worlds and sometimes against each other (really, against themselves!)  so them getting together. kind of masturbatory of them, no? but would read a myooch masturbation fic abt them for that exact reason.

I saw your take on how we have to stop using shipping goggles for everything because it misses out on the nuance of a lot of relationships and I agree so much! Especially with Kaveh and Alhaitham who are everything and more. It's best summed up in Kaveh's voiceline about Alhaitham "It's complicated." They were friends, best friends, who had a horrible falling out and then spent the next years arguing with each other in academic papers. And then Alhaitham found Kaveh in a tavern and immediately knew that he was in trouble and Kaveh, even though they were no longer friends, told him everything even though he's not comfortable with doing that. And then Alhaitham took him home. They are mirrors and foils who exist to show each other their flaws and strengths and their hypocrisies and every little thing in between. They are each others closest person in this life and they will never find another person who understands them like they do or who can *truly* see right through them like they do. They have hurt each other but came back together regardless and they care about each other so so much. The misunderstandings are still there and it's hard because they want to be that close again but they don't know how to get back there so they just bicker and bring each other food and turn their house into a home. This complexity is really lost when you view it as only romantic because they were first and foremost best friends who were partners. And it's simultaneously a mix of platonic/romantic and a third other thing. Sorry this is getting really long but I love your posts and analyses, and yeah Kaveh and Alhaitham are so much more then just ao3 romance tropes (like their annoying fanon selves will lead you to believe) and they're relationship timeline is a tragedy and it's so complex and so interesting to think about. I really want to die when I think about them for too long. They make each other better and that's just the facts and when they go home at the end of the day it's to each other where they help each other understand the other side of the mirror, the other half of the world. Like that can't just be summarized as either strictly platonic or romantic, it's just so much more!!

i really agree it annoys me when ppl just brush them off like Oh theyre boyfriends. its like well idk it seems kind of flippant… idk.. i think people forget that before everything they were friends. like really best friends and also neither of them had any family to support them. alhaithams grandma was far away from him when he enrolled and his parents were already dead and kavehs mom had already moved to fontaine and his father had just recently passed. they were both very alone in their early akademiya days. ironically even though theyre such opposites theyre the only ones who could ever fully understand each other. they were so isolated that when they did end up becoming friends, when they found that they were able to understand each other, their relationship became much more significant to who they were

they cant really stand to call each other friends, but if you looked at a list of things friends do for each other, they do it all. they pack leftovers for each other and worry about each other and know about the other’s schedules and careers. alhaitham picks kaveh up at the tavern whenever hes too drunk to get home by himself. in alhaithams story quest, as soon as kaveh got all his comments out, he asked alhaitham if he was okay. alhaitham even allows kaveh to just redecorate their house as he pleases. kaveh obviously isnt just a tenant. and the reason they bicker so languidly is because they know so much about each other. its easy to find areas to make jabs at because they know each other best, more than anyone

because theyre mirrors, they have more insight into each other than anyone else. if they reflect upon their own actions compared to the other, theyll find that theyre simply the equal and opposite reaction. im really excited to see kaveh in the event and his eventual hangout. i would love for more things to pick apart and analyze concerning him and the most important person in his life

I'm at a point in my life where I'm in full blown self destruct mode my life is a series of unfortunate events and it Dosent seem to be getting any better I have no will to live but I'm scared to die..not really scared to do but scared to do it myself...every couple of weeks its something new and fuccin terrible its been like that since the car crash I literally can't catch a break I can't win and I'm so mf tired of it after all the shit I been thru I still care too much I still love too hard I still give too many fuccs and I don't know how to turn it off I Juss wanna be numb or not exist or some shit I'm always seeing the good in people when the human race is literally shit. Thank you for even more of your thoughts! That's part of the reason I love it - I'm on my I've lost count how many-th re-watch and I still find it just as compelling and complex to discuss as the first time through. There are always new facets and interpretations to talk about.

On your point about censoring queerness - there is one throwaway line that confirms both homosexuality and homophobia exist in this world, and that's when Jukchang is first brought to trial in ep 10 and Yohan's reading out his indictment, which includes targeting 'sexual minorities' along with women and foreign workers. I remember being pleasantly surprised at the time at the inclusion!

I thought much the same about the moral compass angle - I do think Yohan perceives injustice, but more as a blip on his radar rather than something that guides his actions. We see he's disgusted by certain traits, such as greed and hypocrisy, but it still seems to me more a...distaste, than a moral objection. Like, if he redresses social wrongs in the process he's good with that, it's an added bonus! But it's not why he does what he does - like you said, I think it's his all-consuming love for a select few ppl that drives him, e.g. if they're scared he'll make the scary thing go away, if they're hurt he'll rain down fiery vengeance on whoever hurt them, if equality for all makes them happy...he'll work on that! But I know a lot of ppl would disagree, though I should hasten to add that in no way diminishes his character for me or makes him less sympathetic - in fact, it makes him even more fascinating! And also I think that even though Yohan recognises and accepts that about himself, because by the end of the show there's much more parity and mutual understanding between him and Gaon than there ever was between him and Isaac (understandably so, given the differing nature of those relationships), part of Yohan's growth is in maybe (grudgingly!) allowing a moral compass back into his life (if only for the sake of his loved ones), but on perhaps more realistic terms than those offered to him by Isaac? Not sure if that makes sense??

Oh, that's interesting about that indictment mentioning "sexual minorities," I missed that one (or Viki's subtitles did). Other than that, the part that seemed most overtly queer to me was in episode 8 when Yo-Han and Seon-Ah seemingly implied to each other they were both bisexual (in the scene in his office where he grabs her neck). At least that's how I interpreted the subtitles, they both said something along the lines of 'I don't discriminate between men and women,' while generally cultivating an atmosphere of sexual tension. I don't know if it sounded the same in Korean, and it was euphemistic rather than explicit, but it was the closest thing I noticed to talking about queerness out loud.

Yes! to all your idea's about Yo-Han's morality. You've articulated the vague thoughts about it I had swirling around in my head. I also think there's some fascinating parallels/echoes with Seon-Ah - the show quite overtly links them. Is she what he would have become if he hadn't had Isaac (and perhaps if he had been abused for even longer)? Anyways, their relationship could fill several long essays.

Ppl don't tweet to the point Seb's CAMEO trended more than Evan's movie. But, please, how have you figured he lost 70% of his fanbase? It's not by IG followers, or else he'd be down to 3 million. So, how did you come up w that figure? //

Quick eyeball. I’ve been around for so long, since 2015. Out of the fifteen close friends of mine that were in this fandom, only 2 are still around. I’ve heard similar and have seen similar outside our circle and with the fans that came in during TFATWS. It went down six months after the show ended and some hype went down and it went down even more after he left social media. It’s funky be he was still popular during his awards hype year but even that went down as well, and during that I saw some fans still striking around for, but like I said with mixed factors, it went down A LOT.

Most of the fans that even came in during 2020 have also left as well but they keep tabs when they can. It’s not something hard to miss. It’s heartbreaking but it’s true. 2014-2018 was his prime in fandom-land hype was in the sebastian stan fandom. He was still popular post 2018 but things started changing. He regained his major popularity once more with TFATWS but it was different in the sense that a lot also only stuck around for about a year or so. Not all obviously, most here right now are from then, but a lot. So that’s where I’m getting my number.

Basing off numbers of people I know personally and math and blogs and pages I used to follow that are now abandoned and seeing how little his mentioned has gone down. It’s still up there but not as much as it used to be. His lack of instragram interaction affected this majorly as well and it’s normal for that to happen. They lost interest and moved on to other fandoms. Maybe they will return hype when his projects come back a little or even when Bucky is back too, I don’t see that happening very very soon.

I would not based his fandom numbers off his Instagram follows. I know people who follow him because of his gained (name) popularity in the last 2-3 years when his followers numbers jumped, but they aren’t even his fan. They followed him because he was talked about. Keep in mind that he is still gaining more than he is losing, so some are starting to remember they still follow him and don’t remember why. Like I said I know it hurts but his fandom is down A LOT and I put an estimate of 70% down. That’s up for debate and just my eye balling and opinion.

PLAYING: PlanetSide 2

Massive, exciting, chaotic, confusing, overwhelming, and almost Battlefield...I'm having fun.

Before I dig into Battlefield, I'm gonna go on a long tangent about what I was looking for with PlanetSide 2:

Simply, I wanted an action-packed war simulator not based on kills where I get to be a medic and support my team achieving objectives. Battlefield.

It took me a bit to get into online shooters. Running in circles trying to kill people didn't make me very happy. Warhawk for PS3 was the first time I really got into competitive play...well, World of Warcraft's battlegrounds. I didn't like them, but I played them. I liked the idea of trying to secure territories and earn points as that felt like real-war. That is, you secure resources to be the most successful faction. I still preferred PVE, but that's also the game that made me fall in love with healers. Moving onto Warhawk (cause I was a fan of the original PS1 game), I loved the paper-rock-scissors gameplay. It wasn't just who was fastest on the trigger or who got around behind you--but who had the best counter attack to your offensive. Tanks could obliterate infantry, but an infantry with a flamethrower could obliterate a tank. A Warhawk was a nimble aircraft, but a tank could kill it in a single shot. Plus you had homing rocket launchers and anti-aircraft. The main game mode was territories where you tried to dominate the map, and that played into the "realistic war" aspect I enjoyed. Since in the end, it wasn't about killing to win--killing was a means to an end, not the end itself.

The problem with Warhawk, there were no classes. You had to go find weapons and hope other players hadn't taken them yet. So maybe you're a great sniper, but you had to compete for the sniper rifle lying around. And there was a chance some noob grabbed and got lost in the jungle. I had great time with Warhawk, but it left something to be desired.

Anyway, Warhawk made me hungry for strategy-based online shooters that emphasized teamwork. I did not see that in Call of Duty, and still don't. My next game was MAG for PS3. It touted 128 players online, which was insane and I thought I'd love it. I did not. At first, it was really cool to see so many players fighting (I think the 128 was actually broken up into zones so you were never in a 64 vs 64 battle...but the overall conflict involved as many players. I think.) I wanted to be a medic (Warcraft ,right) but sadly anyone could give themselves a self-heal kit. So anytime ppl got hurt, they just healed themselves. While I dedicated lots of points to being a medic. A medic most people NEVER needed. So basically, no classes. On top of that, players could equip super armor. So it would take a clip and a half to kill anyone. Basically it was a bunch of terminators fighting each other. And when no one is really scared of dying, everyone is just sorta walking out in the open. It just didnt' feel "intense".

While complaining about this, a friend said: "I think what you're looking for is Battlefield." So I bought Bad Company 2 and they were fucking right! It was 12 v 12, but conquest mode felt like what I was looking for. Instead of focusing on kills, you tried to control territories. Also, there were classes, and I got to play a medic! I loved Bad Company 2 and got all of my friends interested. When Battlefield 3 came out, I loved it even more. The Assault (medic) class was unstoppable and I did really well. For the first time in an online competitive game, I routinely was in the top 3 of every round, very often in first place. I usually had the most kills, most objectives taken, and my heals boosted my points way up. I loved that the stats emphasized your point score over your actually kills, as it showed who was the most impactful.

I tried Battlefield 4, but life got in the way of really enjoying it. When I finally had time to get back into Battlefield 3 & 4, people had moved on. I also started to hate killing in video games. I switched to only healing and playing the objectives. I actually got first place, twice, in Battlefield 3 solely on heals, revives, and objectives: zero kills.

I've been looking for an experience ever since. I've tried Paladins and Overwatch 2. While I enjoy the healing classes, the rounds are really short and don't have that epic quality of battlefield. It's fun, but not as exciting.

PLANETSIDE 2

When PS4 was about to launch, they bragged that they were bringing PlanetSide 2 to it. I was shocked that this game was so old and I had never heard of it. It looked like Battlefield but the maps were huge and rounds ongoing. It was intimidating but exciting. I had thought to bring over all my Battlefield friends. But PlanetSide 2 wasn't available at launch. and while I was waiting on it, life went on.

Recently, I was sitting around thinking: I want to play a medic in battlefield. But I don't own a copy of the game that other folks are really playing. Overwatch 2 was no better than Paladins and I prefer the healer in Paladins. I asked around and folks recommended PlanetSide 2. So I decided to give it a real play through.

WHAT'S HAPPENING?!

I'm still figuring the game out. Learning how to spawn caused some issues. I think I get it. The medic class is actually pretty popular. I was almost annoyed by how I was having to compete for heals. That's because I'm trying not to kill anyone, just healing.

I don't love the heal gun. You lock-on and heal, much like Mercy in Overwatch 2. I prefer the medpacks of Battlefield. I think Grohk's healing totem very much achieves that. I'm able to heal with Grohk's staff two, so it's like a combo of the heal gun and the medpack. Still prefer the medpack, as you can place them in strategic places. The medgun just makes it...awkward.

(I forgot to mention I love being a healer in The Last of Us: Factions. Great online game!!!)

I'm still struggling to figure out how to be supportive as a healer, especially as I refuse to shoot anyone. The frontline neads healers, but teams rarely move in a sensible way. While people die as fast as Battlefield, they're not smart about their advancements. Running blindly into hot spots and not taking up shooting positions (sometimes).

I also ran into an issue with controls. Since it's a PC game, I have to use mouse and keyboard. Unfortunately, I'm not used to that so my brain was having to translate my intent into keyboard/mouse actions--kind of like having to translate all my thoughts into a foreign language before I spoke. It slowed me down. So I used my AntiMicro program to assign keyboard/mouse actions to my controller. There's a few limitations, but I'm able to more comfortably navigate and commit actions.

Anyway--the experience itself:

Graphically, it looks pretty good! It feels like Halo, to me. The aesthetic just feels similar. The tanks and flying vehicles seem to have the same design sensibilities. But like Battlefield, it's a really exciting war experience. And what's really interesting is because it's so "big", while you're trying to take a position or objective, you're also parallel to whole other battles. Maybe not full battles, but it was cool to be attacking building A, while tanks and aircraft battle over Build B, and then somethign happens at building C that changes the whole tide of battle. It's almost exactly what I'm looking for--but I wish they had medpacks.

While I love the idea that the battles just rage on for hours. I did run into an issue where my team defended a major base for roughly an hour. The whole time, we kept edging into enemy territory, very nearly securing more ground. But they always seemed to push us back to our base. In Battlefield, the time limit on battles would have ended the stalemate and we would have been whisked off to a new level with a redistribution of players. It just mixes it all up and keeps it fresh. But here, I just kept spawning in the same places, attacking the same places, dying in the same places. It just didn't end.

I don't know when I'll play again, but I had fun.

SO I wanna elaborate a bit more on what I said on @disaster-j‘s post in regards to gramblack and because ppl misusing media theory terms on fandom spaces is driving me to chaotic frustrations. 

So fans were saying that GramBlack was queer baiting after GramEugene became...whatever the fuck they are but we’ll go with canon to be kind. People were saying GramBlack isn’t queer baiting in response to fans being - fucking justifiably - upset that the show took a hard u-turn in a pass lane. 

(Like guess I’m a bitch, but personally I don’t like a canonically same-sex couple from the source material being used a a red herring for a flaccid het love triangle where the female char in question becomes reduced to a love interest. Like fuck, at least make her an active part and participant of the gang. But whatever hand me my bitch badge.) 

But these folks are right, GramBlack wasn’t queer baiting - it was queer erasure as GramBlack are a canonical couple in said source material the show is adapted from. And we’ll get to adaptions in a second.

Queer Baiting - The term queerbaiting refers to the practice of implying non-heterosexual relationships or attraction (in a TV show, for example) to engage or attract an LGBTQ audience or otherwise generate interest without ever actually depicting such relationships or sexual interactions. [1]

Queer Erasure - LGBT erasure refers to the tendency to remove lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, asexual and queer groups or people intentionally or unintentionally from record, or to dismiss or downplay their significance. [2]

The reason I’m being pedantic about this is because these are real terms used in media theory and media studies - media including television, film, literature, and pop culture. These terms refer to very specific things in the study of media, and it’s important to use them correctly instead of in reactionary ways. 

Vagueness causes confusion, which causes arguments - especially within fandom spaces. Which prefer reactionary movements rather than reactive and self-reflective behaviors. 

Now, let’s talk adaptions. 

Adaptions aren’t meant to be 1:1 no matter how many cranky ass fans on twitter scream about them. Sometimes superpowers change - Ms Marvel (live action) - sometimes a characters origins - Shang-Chi (film), Oliver Queen (CW’s Arrow).

That said, not all changes are created equally so to speak. Some changes in adaptions are made for the better, some for the worse, some for the outright hurtful (intentionally or otherwise). 

Wanda Maximoff is a good example, her not being a mutant? Fine, an unfortunate but unavoidable change since Marvel and Disney didn’t - at the time of her introduction - own the rights to her mutant origins. In entertainment, everything - and I mean EVERYTHING - comes down to rights. Her not being Roma anymore? Hurtful. There’s a dearth of Roma characters that aren’t stereotypes and Wanda being a mutant and her being Roma didn’t need to be mutually exclusive. It’s an adaption lost. 

Lots of things change in adaptions, I mention superheroes as a sub-genre b/c lots of things change in adaption from comics to animation or live action. Some changes are good, some are even amazing - Harley Quinn was a change added to Batman the Animated Series and look how far she’s come now as a chaotic bisexual murderous anti-hero icon. Some are bad - every single change in Arrow is a good example of bad adaptive changes - and some are hurtful. 

Anytime source material has characters from marginalized backgrounds that get erased in the adaption - that hurts.

he looks at her like she put all the stars in the sky but the same goes for mae

she has admitted in an interview that ten is one of her role models because of his talent and work ethic

xiaojun once asked him who’s his favorite between yangyang and mae and you could see him malfunction for like six seconds before jokingly scolding him

its always interesting to see because you just see a gentle giant cheering loudly with this smol girl next to him trying to match his energy

he always makes sure she’s comfortable when they’re at a schedule

like we know how he’s really silly on camera but he’s also very observant and caring

one time mae complained about how her feet hurt from the heels she was wearing so he just picked her up bridal style and walked to the van without a word

They’ve heard abt each other from Kun and ten and greeted each other when they passed by each other in the halls but they never really had a chance to grow close until nct 2020 happened

Mae wasn’t in the Make a Wish unit so there weren’t a lot of chances to get to know each other while promoting either but it doesn’t mean they’re not friends

ten also hogs her attention when she visits the wayv dorms but we dont talk about that

these two arent as close as the others but not to the point where they actively avoid each other

Top 5 Movies you saw this year

wow tbh I didn’t watch many movies this year as I realized yesterday when I was thinking about this for certain reasons. Or at least I feel like I didn’t watch that many? Nothing really stuck with me it seems.

Because of this, I will only mention two: Parasite and The Old Guard. Those were both wonderful in their own ways and I’m very happy I got to watch them both ^^

this one is difficult bc I watched so many (and forgot even more?) but:

The Lost Tomb Reboot (my introduction to DMBJ. this drama stole my heart and helped me through the tough autumn semester!) 

Joy of Life (it’s nuts that this happened during 2020? it feels like it was ages ago)

Kingdom (such a positive surprise and I really hope we get more of this :o I really recommend!)

Detective L (easy, nice aesthetics, amazing costumes. Bai Yu was a delight as Luo Fei)

Sand Sea (I am still baffled by how much I loved this bc I had so many doubts? am happy I did tho)

Bonus: Guardian (bc it has come to stay and the rewatch has been so emotional but so rewarding)

Top 5 songs of 2020

this is a tough one too bc I’ve heard so much new music during 2020 but I will try to put it simply:

Black Swan by BTS (I absolutely adore this song. I listened to it on repeat when it came out at the beginning of the year, I have cried for it a ton, I enjoy every stage I see for it and it’s just a masterpiece. it has also helped a bit with my writing struggles that I’ve felt creeping up on me lately)

Always by By The Coast (an amazing song that always leaves me in my feels. inspires me a lot all the time)

Love me or Leave me by DAY6 (this whole album was a masterpiece and I listened to it on loop for like. two weeks? this was my favorite song on it even if I adored the rest too, especially Zombie)

all of my life by Park Won (listened to this a lot in relation to my xicheng and the wedding I finally got to write for them ;; that’s one good thing that came out of this year tbh)

雨人 by 刘畅 (Liu Chang) (with the Reboot’s ending song, this one is my favorite on that ost. I love Liu Chang’s voice, I loved Liu Sang as a character and as I said, I loved Reboot as a drama. I get super emotional about this ost so I think it defined this year a lot for me)

learned more about editing? or started doing it regularly. I still can’t do shit but am having fun learning more all the time and I really hope that maybe the upcoming year I can switch to PS and try out giffing?

went to Halsey’s concert! it was in february so a bit before all the hassle with covid happened over here ;; it was super cool and so nice and I just. I love Halsey

fell into the DMBJ hellhole which am very much enjoying. it’s a great universe and the story is so good and the dramas have been so fun to watch and. it feels like a good continuation to The Untamed somehow haha (also brought me a new friend! you’re amazing ashen!! ♥)

started therapy and it’s been... a journey. but towards something better I think? it’s something I would’ve needed ages ago but it’s better late than never I suppose

1. first creation and most recent creation of 2020: wow it’s been a while since I’ve looked at this horrible creation but here ya go jkdhgk [x]. I’ve come a long way from this (and my xicheng has come a long way from this too). most recent one is this xiaoge edit that I absolutely adore [x]. 

2. one of your favorite creations from 2020: this wwx edit that was part of my agust d2 edit series [x]. I loved to give him blue instead of his typical red. 

3. a new style you tried this year and a gifset edit that uses it: this [x] wwx edit which I don’t know if I like or not but I was playing around with the font and all the effects instead of just normal screenshots + coloring. also I just adore the quote. 

4. a creation to be proud of: I could mention that xiaoge here but in addition, I will also say this wu xie edit for reboot [x]. I managed to capture my vision so well, I was surprised. for cql, this songxiao edit [x]. I loved how it turned out in the end. 

5. a creation that took forever: this wangxian edit [x]. like I’ve said several times, I lost sleep bc of it. I just kept struggling with the third pic and how to place the text there D:

I had many ideas for this edit when I first started making it and I never managed to capture my vision in the way I first intended... the pictures I was supposed to use just never fit quite right sigh. I dunno why it was this one that gained all the notes in the end bc I personally think I have better ones too but am still thankful :’D

Yeah it’s very unclear what’s happening exactly in Cali. Basically the only knowledge we have abt that house is that someone saw a scene where an elderly Mexican gentleman invited Jonathan and Argyle inside, which makes it p obvious that Argyle lives there, and another scene where the two of them were smoking on the roof. But, we’ve also seen Joyce’s car parked there, which has led some to speculate that maybe the Byers are renting out Argyle’s fam basement or smth. But we don’t know yet if anyone other than Charlie, Eduardo, and the other guy have been seen filming there, since the source went quiet. And they’re wrapping at the house on Tuesday, so hopefully then ppl will be comfortable sharing what they saw. Plus idk if you saw but Charlie, Millie, Noah, Finn, and Argyle were spotted filming at the airport recently. And someone said they were also filming at a local high school.

I def don’t think Jonathan’s gonna get a Steve-level amount of screen time this season, what with all the new characters and all the craziness happening in Hawkins and Russia too, but I know he’ll at least get more than s3. He’s in a team that includes a big fan-fav, a new fan-fav, and two of the most popular ST ships. He’s not gonna be hurting for screen time at all. I think there is a genuine concern for his dramatic plot being somewhat overwhelmed by the group he’s in, but at least we know he has an actual plot of his own instead of being dragged into Nancy’s. And Jonathan’s gonna have lots of time with his fam + getting a new friend, which is what we’ve been asking for since s1.

I def don’t think this is you, but I know there are lot of Jancys who are all butthurt over them being separated and pessimistic abt Argyle overpowering Jonathan. Those are legit grievances + concerns, but I just think sometimes you have to give to get. Do I wish that the writers could’ve written Jonathan and Nancy independent character arcs without separating them? Of course! But if that’s what it takes to keep them from being sidelined like usual, I say bring it on! I’m actually real excited to see what this season has in store for Jonathan and Nancy, so it makes me sad to see some ppl dreading it. 😢

Re: the house I’m still confused on whose it is as it could go either way as Byers’ or Argyle’s from what we’ve gotten. Argyle’s would make more sense. But if it’s really the Byers’ house, they’d need to explain how on earth they could afford it bc it makes no sense. Renting out part of Argyle’s house might make more sense money wise, but imo doesn’t much otherwise. Would they really have Jonathan and Argyle know each other both from living together *and* working together? It just seems like it would be one or the other— like you’d expect they’d become friends bc they met at HS and/or working at SBP.

Re: Jonathan and screentime, you always have to wonder if he’ll get screentime after the way he’s been so underwritten for two seasons. S4 at least gives us /a chance/ to see him in new situations like having a friend finally (have also wanted that since s1), also finally some Byers fam moments, a new setting and how that affects him, that he might be going thru a lot and not just dealing with it/keeping it all inside, that he might go thru some changes and not just be so static, and also that he might have even more responsibilities when Joyce leaves. They’ve set up a v good plotline for him but will they deliver by writing it lol? Idk. Just look at how many new characters there are and how much less they are shooting in NM compared to Hawkins. It’s also true given how much they like new characters they could sideline Jonathan through Argyle… or not. It will just be int to see him have a friend tho, and see NM as Cali and the newness of that, so I’m v curious for all of that and def hope they don’t just sidekick him again.

Re: jancy, I’ve been disappointed with how they’ve been written after s1 and I don’t think the duffers have bothered to write them well and jancy as a whole has been sidelined. There have def been some sweet scenes bet them still and some of their dynamic still carries over from s1, but imo they needed to do something to mix up what they’ve done to them. I also would have liked to see them be written bettter together, but I don’t get how you can like jancy and not like them as independent characters too, or like jancy, but be fine with how Jonathan has been written as a sidekick and largely lost all the other parts of his personality from s1. I hope they don’t tease love triangle again and I believe they’ll still put them back together, but while others I’m sure disagree, they needed to be apart and we needed to see something different w how they are written. Imo, they can only be interesting if they are written as equally solid characters with personalities apart and together. If they don’t have personalities independent of one another, what is the point? So I’m def interested in how the show is mixing it up and we’ll get to see Nancy w Robin and Jonathan in Cali. It’s different and I want to see how it impacts them as characters, and also how they then handle jancy later in the season when they see each other again. I’m sure they’d have a lot to work out! RWBY V8 E1 thoughts- SPOILERS

yall im rewatching it and i have so many feelings like yall wtf.

yang and blake get speaking roles that affect the plot wtf, im so used to the action scenes im pleasantly suprised by the amount of dialogue being used. adding onto that, everyone is speaking more in general and i love it.

yang is showing some personality by finally standing up for something instead of following orders

blake said something for once, weiss’ hair isnt that lumpy anymore, not suprised about the ruby/yang conflict but ruby rly does needa broaden her horizons when leading, im glad juane stepped in and the ruby/yang conflict didnt turn into a fight although with all the back and forth shots i can assume the conflict is still gonna play a part in the plot.

im pretty biased but im going team yang for this one, even though i agree with ruby as well. the communications tower thing needs to be finished but the priority is always the civilians, which is why i prefer yangs group (also i love yang “wow op i couldnt tell at all” yeah ik ik i have a huge bias)

penny being so sad makes me sad but robot girl go brrrrrr

the longing looks from blake and weiss as yang leaves have my bees schnees heart oozing but at the same time whiterose has been seen together more than twice for a whole season so im rooting for them too. also ladybug?????? has had more interactions in one episode than like all of last volume so hell yeah for anyone who ships them

the animation in general has gotten sm better and i love it, the style in faces and everything else is a lot more consistent and there are less wonky moments and it makes close up shots more appealing now that its cleaner and it makes everything flow a lot better.

im gonna touch on this again because yk its a main plot point, i know the divided teams were like forcibly hinted at last season but at the same time, nora was always for putting mantle first above ironwood, but then she doesnt go to help evacute them first and protect mantle? like i understand the bigger picture but you would think it would be the opposite way around with nora and ren considering last volume but eh oh well its just something i noticed. maybe they did that for a specific reason that will change everything later on or not who knows.

ALSO WHY CANT TEAM RWBY EVER JUST BE TEAM RWBY IT FEELS LIKE THEYRE ALWAYS SEPARATEDDDDDD ugh now thats just me complaining but anyways

the opening is a whole monster in itself its great i love it.

i love the two moments where whiterose’s weapons r together and so r bumbleby’s and i LOVE that they finally remember that theyre partners like fuck yeah finally give weiss and ruby some partner time together. and like its just looks so pretty and like idk i just love it.

youll notice im not talking about the villains bc idk i simply dont rly have an interest in them like other ppl which is fine, you do you, i just dont care to talk about them when i can talk about the one character that never leaves my head. yang yang yang yang yang yang yang. but anyways neo is cool and the only villain i can stand

winter looks hot af in the opening and im glad that the opening is covering all aspects and storylines like its not just the main conflict in the opening its all the side plots as well like nora/ren conflict, the schnee family as a whole, yang/blake and nora/ren having symbolic moments that r literally the same thing and i am losing my mind they really said here shippers go wild.

the scene in the opening with penny and the mirror breaking hurt, i will admit to that.

the final clips of the opening where team rwby falls thru the ice and everything after that is very cool and i would like the personally thank whoever made that part specifically like holy shit. the symbolism not only in the fact that their weapons r lost, but that fact that it looks cool as fuck and it hints that the end wont be as simple as they believe it to be. but im glad that its just team rwby because we need team bonding time pronto.

i think a lot of people feel the same way you do now (me included.) it feels really good at the time but alter we can see the dynamics playing out. i’m 29 now and i think aging is just such a huge process. it’s wild how you at 31 are a totally different person, right?

and the US racism is probably some of the worst ever in its iteration because of slavery which started from europe etc but USA is so fucking unique bc of columbus bringing slaves here and displacing indigenous peoples or hispanola and because america is so influential the way it views race, particularly with black people as objects, has so deeply permeated into the current historical psyche globally. it’s fascinating to track how necessary anti blackness is to the flourishing of america but also the world at this point. also want to point out how fuckign scary sinophobia is here especially for covid. one is a straight historical line (black ppl + the US) and the other had to be manufactured and to continue to exploit the non-white americans and keep antiblackness in tact.i could go on about this all day. the pain of this place is immense.yet as bad as it is here, this is still the only place i truly feel safe as a black person. because of the unique experience we have in america and through the diaspora especially because we are veyr much ocncentrated here. it would be nice to like move to norway and have some alleviation financially or get free healthcare it’s just not feasible if no one looks like me. it’s fucking tough.

boy oh boy oh BOY OH BOYYYYYYYY. well wlecome to the world of BL lmao especially as an adult with some obviously deep perspective just given your background. it is a fucking mess and it’s a hard mess to like but it pulls you in. i approach it like i do with soap operas since these are essentially telenovelas, you know? just like the drama at a billion. but the tricky part of that is like....what parts of it do we understand for critiquing? because so many of the shows are so bad at being like good pieces of things to look at just production wise and story wise. but i feel like these shows ask us to take them seriously, so why shouldn’t we take the content seriously? and this is being primarily peddled to young girls. 

i bring this up often but i read this thing about yaoi and the interest younger women/girls have in BL and its fascination with pederasty essentially. this component i think is key when we talk about who gets affected by these things the most. society in general is bad 4 girls bla bla we know lmao but in “more sexually conservative” societies it may be harder for these girls to feel safe even expressing normal emotions romantically and sexually and particularly with guys. some people hypothesized, and i think i agree with this hypothesis, that they can live through the casualness of BL. they don’t feel threatened because they can put themselves into the shoes of the other character. oftentimes, the more feminine or the younger. this was in conjunction with the age gap aspect (they say pederasty as well because there’s unethical age gaps that r gross and that is indeed what we would at least call a touch of sexual abuse if people dont feel like calling it an obsession with youth and power and uhhh young ppl and perhaps kids) where maybe girls could see themselves in these situations as the person being saved, loved, taken care of, and sadly also sexually active and penetrated. 

i think that’s just one aspect of it but i do think there’s validity in who gravitates towards it. i cannot imagine seeing this stuff and not getting enough information as a young kid, i sure as fuck know i didn’t!, and seeing these things and you look at it with 0 critique because you’re young and you may have no interest in it or you simply cannot understand what is wrong. no one is teaching you these things and these shows confirm it. and it is wild how intrinsic patriarchy is to BL although in its existence it also can’t be in line with patriarchy given the nature of two [cis] men!

it begs the question about the replacement aspect. is it just so girls can put themselves in these characters shoes? if so then that means we believe that gender is so interchangeable within our relationships and interactions and that doesn’t seem right. there’s more to lgbtq+ than just existing; it’s finding ways to communicate, finding a family, safety, your people, being a free person. there’s a lot to gain and a lot a lot to lose. and a gay man is also not a woman because those are also two distinct experiences.  especially in societies that have a more hidden aspect to sexuality (idk how to word this bc the BL industry would NEVER survive in america but in a way there’s a more “progressive” look at homosexuality but it’s still fucked up because we live in a Society, you know? at the same time look at what we are doing to trans kids. literally waging war so it’s bonkers how we all collectively have some real progress happening but at the same time not at all. the concept of ‘ladyboys’ and the frequency we see trans people in thai shows is wild and something that we absolutely do not see here in the US. still, none of these groups feel safe or are getting better material conditions in either place. we just show the ways we can try and tolerate oppression witout eliminating it imo)

to me it is clear: it’s money. which most things exist to make money so. but also who is the audience for these shows? and they have to market towards them. all that said all hope is not lost there are some decent shows. it’s just like regular media on TV though where it’s so fucking saturated as an industry that it’s literally sifting through garbage. and there are some days when you can handle the trash and others where it really fucking hurts to watch the violence, the rape, the manipulation, the violations, the stupid messaging. i have never seen more people trying to do mental gymnastics and seeing if things were “technically rape” than in teh BL fandom and that is so fucking sad.

i came into these shows at 28 with almost 0 clue of what as media BL was like esp as media that countries can use as soft power with the revenue. but i realize like...i’m 29 now and so many people don’t have a sizeable, though not huge, amount of life experience. and i wonder for people on the internet who are usually searching for something if they spend so much time on it like what a 15 year old girl thinks. what a 20 year old girl thinks. 

it is incredibly problematic and so awful but there’s also some rewards. if you haven’t i would definitely watch i told sunsset about you which i don’t think i’m going to finish and i doubt i’ll watch the second installment (watch this be a lie) but when i say some fucking impeccable storytelling and art? phew. now that is a fucking piece of media that works. it takes from moonlight heavily and you can see like...the artistic dedication is there and the story makes its world and sets up its stakes extremely well. 

i think because this is marketed towards much younger people too they know they dont have to try as hard. but they SHOULD because then you can have a fucking masterpiece like that. i think even this prolific gay thai filmmaker (who is like solidly against the government) who is so respected (and who i like a lot! if u wanna know i can tell u lmao but the films are very uhhhhhhhh “artsy”) would like i told sunset about you. i wish more people had budget like that and also just cared about the stories. it’s the fucking magic of art to figure out what you can do but there is very little incentive honestly. idk i am very pessimistic. there are days when it’s really a great pick me up and distraction but it is never a place i would love for to feel seen or heard but i’m more of the mind of i never trust the mainstream until they prove me wrong ;) 

or i never trust the mainstream and i still buy into it anyway and then cry when i don’t like what i see adn i yell “BOO GET OFF THE STAGE!” when an old man won’t leave a teenager alone

honestly like idc idc i guess ppl are just like “uhh mytho’s got nothing going on b/c he has no feelings!!” like Yeah Correct, that’s a premise / inciting factor for this series and everything everyone’s doing lol, it’s only Boring if you don’t think about the character at all lmfao which i guess some ppl don’t, but like, there’s only 4 of them.....it’s Wildly Interesting that he literally has no feelings at first, like, for one thing it’s cool how there’s always the Idea of characters who don’t have emotions or act on them, but this is like the rare “realistic” situation where having no feelings means he needs someone to steer him around and make choices for him (and how Vulnerable that leaves him lmfao like episode 2 is wild but also that ppl just haven’t really realized that they Could just pick mytho up and pitch him into a wall, and fakir and rue are sort of careful neutral alliance keeping tabs on him) and you know, the whole s1 structure of mytho regaining both Capacity For / Experience of An Emotion and his sense of identity and by extent of all this his agency, and how like, Thematic everything surrounding this character is that’s reflected in the overall series like. trying to control someone for your own benefit vs being willing to sacrifice your own interests (and then some...) for their freedom & the Protecting Someone (And/Or Wanting To) As A Love Language that all the characters show for each other at various points & hope vs despair.......and like No Shit he’s dispassionate & passive b/c he can’t Feel Feelings & resultantly can’t make decisions or feel motivations but obviously he’s still Motivating other characters to act on his behalf, & there’s so much mystery & drama already in “yeah this guy you think is just a neat handsome guy is also an actual prince from a story who’s Real & sacrificed his heart in the fight with an evil giant raven monster that eats people & so he can’t feel anything or remember who he is” like damn!!! epic of him even if right now he can’t do much of anything on his own. i’m interested, and then i’m Interested every time in the Drama & Mystery of this person regaining parts of himself and completely rediscovering An Emotional Experience and how that is totally recontextualizing his entire existence for him.....

plus also even though “person literally lost heart via magic and doesn’t know what Feeling Things is” isn’t a We’ve All Been There situation i was like oh and you know it’s not like what mytho’s got going on isn’t potentially Relatable....can get into a side essay about dapressione and trauma and other types of stuff that can make it seem like someone can’t/shouldn’t have full access to their feelings / self / agency &/or it’s Dangerous if they try.....whew

but continuing on YEAH ugh just completely fascinated with mytho the Entire Time actually lol like, i’ve tended to lose steam in early s2 b/c he’s sort of Less involved beyond the [hehe time to cause some trouble in this particular ep] role lol but even so it’s like well it’s kinda fun when at least somebody’s being a bitch who lives for drama lmfaooooo & we get mytho Struggling Internally & sometimes punching through that way but again it’s like yeah oops the guy was basically autonomous but zwoop here’s a problem where that doesn’t mean shit anymore lol b/c he’s got this alternate evil self steering the ship all the time now lol got em.....the Peak of that i guess is where we get to have an epic swordfight between raven!mytho and fakir like you know what fuck yes!!! the intrinsic drama of that lmfao!!!! and then it’s like “oh no :/ loving the drama? that’s just what drosselmeyer wants” except Not b/c actually what makes it totally rule is that it’s this chance for Real Mytho to come through for the sake of protecting fakir (tbt “i wonder what i think of you, fakir”...) and really like that being what prompts fakir’s “you know what, even though before i was afraid my role as a knight would kill Me and i’m afraid my coincidental(?) role as a guy who can Reality Write could kill Anyone Else, i gotta try b/c that’s the only thing i could possibly do here and i want to try protecting everyone else b/c everyone else including mytho is protecting Me” and like augh everyone is so Thoughtful about how to try to help mytho out even as like, they can’t hardly interact with him or undo the situation lol.....as you’re getting into the series finale and everyone’s just outright Voicing things and you get “i/we want to protect mytho” like 32x and it’s beautiful each time ;___; like and well sorry but him & his heart/lack of are also the heart of the whole story here.....

and you know what *i* want to protect mytho, sympathizing with all the characters like fuck yes you’re so right, this guy rules, episode 6 aka The Fear Episode is SO good, like, you’ve gotten kinda used to the episodic format here, ep 5 did sure also make it obvious that things are Building on what’s happening prior here & that there’s stakes and stuff but it’s such a shakeup, like, that maybe just kinda sneakily dipping in and out of the arena giving back a piece of his heart until it’s done with, no problem, Isn’t Gonna Happen, and again, the Drama of it all......that the heart shards are yeah kind of their own People who are these fractions of mytho’s self and the way you interact with them is gonna like, affect things, since tutu didn’t like “resolve” things with that heart shard and just kinda got him on a technicality there lmfao so it’s like, yeah not only does mytho have a more general / abstract cause to be afraid of tutu & her bringing all these Unknowns & completely new things to him / changing things up and apparently introducing conflict, but you’ve gone and gotten his capacity for fear all recently riled up and specifically afraid of his interaction with You from 5 sec ago, and how could anyone know this mysterious magical being giving you Negative Feelings is like, Safe......and i’m sure it’s all compounding here, like, it’s Wild to be suddenly experiencing A Feeling for the (seeming) first time, and that in itself sure could be Scary, he just hasn’t had the proper emotion available with with to Be Afraid, now he’s gotten back a freshly stoked (capacity for) Fear and how off the shits it must be to be afraid for the first time anyways, or to be feeling the other stuff for the first time, and who knows what Unfun Feelings could come next, there’s a lot to freak out about.......and not like it’s trying That hard to never suggest like oh fakir's not that bad even though he’s technically an antagonist at the start b/c of being at odds with / against the protagonist, it’s pretty telling there lol like he’s unhappy with mytho having feelings again at all and has already been getting mad about it but is just being Helpful here and trying to comfort him, like aw that’s neat i think it’s nice, and again throwing it back to “I Wonder What I Think Of You, Fakir” you get fakir reassuring mytho that nobody but him is around, and mytho having this capacity for Fear is choosing to confide in fakir re: what he’s dealing with here (not that this would on it’s own be some guarantee that mytho’s Right to be unafraid of fakir, but, knowing all we eventually know...) like again lol it’s funny that drosselmeyer’s loving the Drama of mytho only having regained Negative Feelings like, i mean i’m soaking it in as well but it’s like, that guy’s all about Angst and it’s like no im here all about the Hurt/Comfort more like, thank you lmfao

it’s also SO good how it’s like, the next episode is turning around & giving the story a way forward not by like, oh let’s just counteract this Fear mytho’s struggling with by returning the....emotion of Courage i guess, but rather by giving him back Curiosity to ultimately lead to him actually seeking a conversation with tutu.......and it’s like AUGH it’s soooo fun that he goes to that river and has a conversation with his own heart shard lmfao like that’s you!!! and that You does not realize you’re them!!! that’s wild and i love it......wait i took low res screenshots when i rewatched this a few weeks ago lmfao

i Love it lmfao like it’s Such a good choice to have him not only have lost his Emotions but also memories / knowledge of who he, himself, even is.....like yeah man it was all on you to fight this heart eating raven monster!!!!!!!!! which you know, it’s also Fun that earlier in that episode when he and fakir are hanging out in the secret Problems Mill (which....fakir is hilarious like that lmfao. whole other tangent here like ppl are not only rolling with Animals As People but stuff like “yeah fakir might just be like ‘oops gotta go!’ and whisk mytho away to various out of the way Locations” like lmfao these teens have some free rein, but it’s nothing compared to s2 where it’s like “They Were Roommates but ig fakir tried to kill mytho who’s now being really dramatic and weird which is v different from before and maybe he’s in love with that one random dude who’s around now, which sucks for everyone else, oops now he’s just like Vanishing for god knows how long at a time it’s fine!!!!” lmfao like god. ballet school just is like that sometimes...) anyways Yeah that mytho’s been having nightmares about the raven and fakir is just going like IT’S FINE JUST DON’T THINK ABOUT IT lol and knowing fakir is also being pretty driven / restricted by fear, reasonably, as he thinks (well. and is correct) that he’s The Knight and his fate is literally written as “yeah if the story gets going and you’re a part of it you’ll just be killed” like yeah, oof......Wonder What I Think Of You Fakir like yeah AND he is that knight you actually did know who was suddenly killed trying to protect you and he’s sorta accepted that role again except he’s not really a fan of that Being Killed thing so here we’re having some issues in his misguided approach here re: Mytho Should Not Get His Heart Back, but he’s also trying to protect them Both from the story, and he’s only So Willing to act Against mytho, like, well hey thanks for apologizing after you hit him and then like, not doing that anymore lol, v reasonable how he’s struggling here lol where he’s trying to Protect mytho but the story a) wants to invite tragedy and b) has already said that The Knight has been / will be killed and can’t actually protect the prince within the story, also c) he’s just like one random high school guy out here......and also that it must just be kinda hard to adapt to this changing situation where mytho Is regaining this sense of self and motivation, but for like the past decade or whatever he Has needed fakir to just be in charge and tell him what to do all the time and, if he had the sense of what it was to trust someone, trust fakir to just always be acting in his best interest, but then mytho’s idea of his own best interest a) starts to Exist and b) is at odds w/fakir’s b/c also c) he doesn’t have All his feelings yet, Or all his memories, while fakir is like “noooo i know the story”.....like there was never any need to just like tell him he sucks at random times lol but it’s also kind of funny that’s just part of fakir’s shtick, calling mytho a dumbass one more time when he’s just fully himself as The Prince again lmfaooo. but prior to that, surely fakir could wonder what mytho thinks of him (or potentially Could think of him) too.......it’s just soooo good when mytho is like, expressing things verbally while trying to work through / figure out Feelings and even ones that he doesn’t have back yet, and it’s always fun how that inevitably throws off whatever character he’s musing about this to......including whenever ahiru’s just like “oh fuck yes he can do this b/c he has more feelings back now, that rules” and/or “aw :( he’s struggling w/this b/c he only has Some of his heart back”

and also that reminds me it’s SO good when the characters just kinda get to Do Something together lmfao like. ahiru and rue hanging out when looking for mytho that one time, iconic stuff, mytho and ahiru hanging out in the previous episode, iconic, maybe it kills me that in the first ep of s2 you have mytho saying ahiru’s his friend and the only person he feels like he can tell anything (and ahiru feeling bad she hasn’t Told Him Everything lol) and then he basically never gets to interact with her again knowing and as himself like Scream it’s fine ;v; !!!!!! let these people spend more than 3 seconds together Interacting lmfao it’s soooo good when they do :’0

and THEN you get into how there’s all this stuff re: The Story, like, fakir is the reincarnated knight, ahiru is the duck given tutu’s abilities Via a piece of mytho’s heart, but we had the original knight and tutu in the story as these actual ppl who we only hear a Little bit of lore about, but mytho actually knew / knows, and like, the original genesis for tutu only being on 1 Page of the story and apparently drosselmeyer doesn’t even really put any thought into what her motivations could be lol like yeah idk whatever she wants to marry the prince or whatever so that’s why she loves him and Says It and disappears......and like we have almost No direct info about her but uh nbd at least some of her actual essence is actually now an intrinsic part of mytho’s actual heart and specifically embedded in the heart shard of Hope, like damn!!!! you Know there was something more Real and Complex going on there and i love it so much.......and the original Knight, lohengrin.....might have been doomed to be unable to protect mytho with his sword, but there’s other ways to protect that guy and Someone needed to be doing it.......i’m just like wow mytho’s gf and bf!!!! and they both sort of died but hey. there’s still a lot to think about

so yeah lmfao love that you can originally see this series like, a decade ago and here it is like damn still lying down / yelling / generally riled up about mytho and just having So Much to think about / appreciate from this series like. it’s so Singular and has so much going on.......cherish it and i’m just still anytime like [epcot vine voice] Mytho...........
