#where did Macaque get his powers?!

Lego Monkie Kid Season 5 spoilers!!

Warning below is me ranting about Sun Wukong, Macaque, and Mk!

So thanks to others translations, I have seen a few scenes with English dub. So now I am going to rant about a small thought process I came up with cause I do that a lot.

“Our birthstone”

They talk about the birthstone, which they both came out of. It would mean they are related, in my opinion then, which means they are brothers!

Throughout the season, we watch these two bonding slowly and learning about each other. They become closer and having brotherly bonding time even if it is unhealthy!

So can it be a triple brother effect?! Can Macaque please be a part of this?! They all have a part that can easily be fit with how they act.

I know people prefer to ship Sun Wukong with Macaque, which I can see if I like how it is portrayed, but hear me out about this!

Wukong being the eldest brother, being a idol and wanting to make everything better. He is protective of people he is close to, yet never wants to fail his brave facade. Wukong tries to be a role model to all younger people, yet once he does something he knows is bad, punishes himself for it. He overachieves things because he feels the needs to do better, feeling the need to take the parental role to his siblings.

Macaque being the middle kid. He looked up to Wukong for protection and support as his older brother. Sadly, it changed once Wukong "left" him, thinking he was overlooked and not wanted. Macaque was always overlooked and not cared for by the Brotherhood, so with Wukong gone, things got worse. He plays his part, yet he is emotionally unstable. He puts on a facade like Wukong, yet he does vent through manipulation and saying his feelings onto other. He probably is dealing with "Middle Child Syndrome" you could say, overshadowed, quiet, and rebellious.

Then there is the youngest, Mk. He is the baby to Wukong and Macaque, the one they need to protect and keep safe. Mk acts more happy on the outside, he is an extrovert that loves to meet new people. He is the creative one, the one that is more sensitive to things. Mk clings to older ones, as he needs reassurance of a parental figure as he grew up with being an adopted baby. However, with more trauma, he has been more worried about his future, trying to hide his emotions and failing. This kid needs love and needs someone to help guide him throughout his journey.

Yet, we still have no idea where exactly Macaque came from. The only information we gained is he has similar powers...

Hopefully, the season 5 special or season 6 could explain the connection Macaque has with the magic and with the other two monkeys! Why does he look like the others, and are there more?! Like he is probably not born from the stone that Wukong and Mk was made from, so where did he come from and what happened to him?!

I have so many questions, but one thing is that I like the triple sibling vibes they all give me! The triple monkeys, come on please are there more here that like this idea?

So as for now, they are good with Wukong being the little spoon. Both bc Wukong is the the one who constantly craves for touch amd bc Macaque feels more comfortable in a position of "control" let's say. He can decide how much closer or not to get to Wukong.

Then in the future they would be more comfortable to switch (and the bicker about who should be the big or small)

He is opening the door for Mac to come closer, so that it's his choice how much he can get closer. The last thing Wukong wants is to rush things or do something that would make him more uncomfortable.

The past: Macaque's Reaction

(this is about my Forgotten Wukong au! feel free to look at the masterpost linked at the end if you wanna know more!)

Liu Er Mihou was the first to notice something happened. 

It’s been some years since his fight against Wukong, in which the Great Sage explained the best he could why he had to go through this pilgrimage and protect this monk. Mihou decided to give him one last chance and Wukong promised he will get home as soon as this Journey ended. Now Macaque is back on Flower Fruit Mountain hoping the King will keep his promise.

Macaque listens now and then in direction to the west, to know if the travel with the monk and the other pilgrims was almost done. The last time he listen what Wukong was up to, he was on his way to get his circlet removed by Guanyin after sealing the brotherhood in a scroll.

Finally! Wukong did kept his promise of getting back home after all of this was done! And about the brotherhood, well, Macaque wasn’t that sad about them. Sure they were friends, but not anymore, not after the fight against heaven and how they completely abandoned Wukong after it. Macaque still did try to find him and talked to him, even if the result was a smashed peach on the ground.

Mihou was still very conflicted about how to feel toward Wukong, they needed to have serious talk as soon as the King will be back on the mountain. But something wasn’t right, something was missing. Macaque couldn’t shake off this feeling of something missing, something big. Then he notice.

Wukong’s magic. He couldn’t feel it anymore.

Minutes ago he could feel it getting closer, feeling Wukong getting closer to Flower Fruit Mountain. But now, nothing. It vanished into thin air. And then he noticed the lack of sounds.

He could no longer hear Wukong's breath, or his heartbeat. Normally Macaque is able to hear it even if he is far away thanks to his six ears.

But now, there was only a deafening silence. He couldn’t understand, what just happened? 

Not wanting to alarm the other demon monkeys on FFM, he continues to listen, to find any hints, anything to ease his mind and to tell him that all of this is a cruel joke. 

His mind went blank. There was no way Wukong just disappeared like that. Yes, he still hasn't forgiven him for going with the pilgrims and how he abandoned him, but he never expected all of this.

No more than an hour later, Nezha was at the foot of Flower Fruit Mountain,asking to see Macaque or any monkey in charge of Wukong's kingdom.

Macaque was pulled back from his spiraling of thought when he noticed Nezha's presence.

Using his shadow to teleport to him, he told him he better have a good reason why he's there. 

Nezha told him about all the things the Jade Emperor said; how Wukong died from a powerful curse he got during his journey, that apparently one of the many demons he fought had a cursed weapon capable of slowly killing an immortal being . And now his staff became cursed and is protected by a powerful barrier.

“ …where is he?” Macaque ask. “I- I don’t know. They didn’t answer when I asked, only saying he got disposed of.” “What do you mean disposed of?! You’re telling me it’s only been an hour since he supposedly died and he’s already disposed of??!” Nezha sighed: “Look I know this sounds very bad, and I agree something is awry. That’s why I came here as soon as I could to tell you this. Apparently his body was emanating a cursed energy after dying so that’s why they acted quickly” “... this doesn’t make any sense.." macaque paused "and what do you mean by something is awry? I was sure you would agree to whatever Heaven decided to do”. “I am not completely blind to what they do. Not long before they announced this, I saw that a part of the celestial army left the palace in secret and they got back when the news was spread. Perhaps it is connected, perhaps it is not. But my intuition tells me something is just wrong.”

“...”

“I know we are not on good terms but I thought it would be correct to tell you all this. I need to go now , my condolence for your loss.”

Nezha left the mountain as quickly as he got there to go back to the celestial palace.

Macaque stayed in the same spot,paralysed, still processing all the informations. ________

The news spread like wildfire. And everyone was too scared to go near the mountain with the "cursed magic staff".

Time passed, and Mihou was still looking for Wukong whenever he could, while protecting and taking care of the kingdom left behind after the sudden departure of the King.

It has been a few week of him trying to defeat the noodle boy to get his staff

As expected, he fails again and again, machines after machines being crushed by that stupid staff and that stupid monkey boy

Knowingly that there's no use for his machines since they only go to his scrap corner

Until an idea pops up in his big demon smart boy brain

What if he kidnaps someone who is dear to MK and bargain them for the staff!

I mean, if that stupid noodle boy loves his friends so much he would do everything to get his best friend back!

Brilliant! Amazing plan even!

Meanwhile, you were hanging out with Mei and MK in the anti-gravity arcade, having the greatest time if your life

Until the ceiling broke down...

You were immediately grabbed by the demon bull clones and tied up so you wouldn't escape.

     "Redson?! Get back here with our best friend!" MK shouted at the bull prince who has you in his arms as you struggle.

     "Never! Catch me if you can, noodle boy and dragon horse girl!" Redson yells back as he laughs dramatically and surrounds him, you, and the bull clones with his fire to teleport away.

     Now you are hung from the ceiling in his lair, if that's what you like to call it considering the lava pool, tools, materials, engines, and many more are laying around the gigantic room.

     "Let me go!" You demanded "What are you planning now, Redson? Y'know MK is gonna MK.O!!™ you again right?"

     Redson scoffs a laugh, lifting up his welding mask to look up at your hanging state as he puts down his blowtorch.

     "After I finish my invention, we will go up to the mountain where my father was imprisoned..." He started to monologue "and then... I will exchange your life for the staff! ...that noodle boy cares for you so much that he will give it to me willingly! And once I have the staff is mine... MY FATHER WILL GAIN HIS POWER AND BE THE GREATEST RULER OF THE WORLD!"

     Redson's dark and overdramatic laughs echoes through the room as the lava's light reflected behind him, creating a giant menacing shadow of himself on the walls.

     Meanwhile you only blink twice at him, not being effected by the intimidating aura that the prince made.

     "You think I'm worth more than the staff?" "What"

     "Well, you basically said that I'm the same price as the staff... Do you think I'm that special?" You grin at him while he was only flabbergasted by your words.

     "W-what?! NO YOU IDIO--" "I don't know, like, you kidnapping me, thinking that I'm enough to be exchanged with the staff, you could've picked Mei but you chose me!"

     Redson gave you a dumbfounded look, his eyebrows furrowing in frustration as you explain your conclusion.

     "Like, you took effort to kidnap me, you think I'm that worth of effort? No one has ever done that for me" You continue as you sniffle a bit.

     "Did-did you forget about the part where I said about my world domination?" Redson simply ask as he gives you a deadpanned stare.

     "I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I'm just so happy right now, you think I'm worth more than the staff? You think I'm that unique?" "Shut up, you're delusional."

While he made his invention to secure his plan, you were in the background trying to make him admit that he thinks you're special

You're not what he thinks you are that's for sure, with you being a giggling mess while you're LITERALLY CAPTURED BY TYE DEMON BULL PRINCE

He expected you to be like MK and Mei, someone who wrecklessly fighting anything that move...

Not someone who is off to delulu land with quips at the back of your hand

He definitely regrets the kidnapping plan

After the 'stealing-wukong's-powers-from-MK' plan didn't work, he couldn't find anymore information or updates in MK's life

Macaque has to keep a close eye on him afterall, considering he is Wukong's apprentice

So why not get one of MK's best friends? He can't just lurk in the shadows

Sure, that'll work but he needs more dept and personal stuff about MK, to find something to hold him back

So while you were on your way back home, not paying attention to your surroundings that was when Macaque took the opportunity.

You took a step and before you knew it, you were falling down to the ground into a theater place for shadow puppet shows.

You landed on your back on the wooden ground, making you raise your brow in confusion cause you remember that you were walking on a pedestrian.

As you look around the place, you hear a dark echoey chuckle from behind you making the hair on your skin rise.

You stood up immediately to see none other than the shadow of the six-eared Macaque.

"Hey, doll..." He chuckles again, his grin getting wider as his shadow shrinks and he turns into his monkey form.

"Macaque?! What am I doing here?! Are you here to hurt me?! Well bad luck, monkey!" You glared at him making him smirk.

"Don't worry, don't worry, I'm not here to hurt you, I'm just here to borrow you for a while" Macaque says shrugging, getting closer towards the stage that you stood on.

"Me?" You ask in full confusion, your body relaxing as you put down your defenses.

"Mhm... You see, hiding in the shadow is not enough for getting information and I need you get me some," Macaque answers.

You pause as each side of your lips starts to slowly rise, "Me?"

"Yup, if you don't comply... then I might take back the 'I won't hurt you' part, simple, hm?" Macaque threatens with a hum.

You pause again, longer this time "me?"

"Yes, you..." Macaque sighs as he gives you a 'are you deaf?' look.

You held your laugh for a while before laughing aloud, Macaque, ofcourse felt as if you're underestimating him as he gets a little grumpy at your reaction.

"Wh- why are you laughing huh?!" "Pfft-- sorry! Sorry, sorry, it's just... I don't know it's funny"

"Funny how?" Macaque ask as he raises his eyebrow in frustration and crosses his arms.

"I don't know, you could've chosen anyone that could stalk MK for you but you chose me! Hah! I just didn't expect that someone would actually put effort on me" you laugh out.

"Effort?" Macaque questions, he wouldn't disagree with himself but he's definitely worried for your well-being.

"Yeah, I mean, you could've just sended me a text saying 'give me information or you're dead' text like my other exes, but here we are!" You continue to blabber making Macaque give you a concerned look.

"I-what..." "Yeah! I'm kinda flattered that you put so much effort on me, kidnapping me, tracking me down, watching which street I go to-- okay that's kinda creepy--" "okay, stop"

Macaque has to make you stop so he can continue his plan

He's mostly concerned about you cause who tf reacts like that?

He had to make a deal with you to proceed with his 'information gathering' plan but you always gawk at the fact that he chose you out of all people

Mk’s eye double in size, staring at you in for a moment too long.

For a second, MK looked like he might brush it off with a laugh or a quick change of subject. But then his shoulders slumped, and he let out a long, reluctant. “It’s... it’s kind of stupid, honestly,” he muttered, scratching the back of his neck. “I mean, I’m supposed to be this big hero, right? The Monkey King’s successor and all that. But... spiders? They just... they freak me out. Like, really freak me out.” He glanced at you, his expression a mix of embarrassment and vulnerability, all with a smile. “It’s not just Ms. Chyou or her family. It’s like- All spiders. Doesn’t matter the size.” He paused, his gaze dropping to the ground as he kicked a small pebble with his foot. “I know it’s dumb. I’ve fought demons way scarier than spiders. I’ve faced down armies, taken on gods, and even dealt with my own family’s... uh, “drama”.” For a moment, just a small fraction of a second, his brows furrowed, his lips more like a scowl than a smile.

Then it was back, like it never left, “But spiders? They just... they get under my skin. Literally and figuratively- a spider demon tried once.” He shuddered, wrapping his arms around himself as if the mere thought of them made him uncomfortable. “It’s not like I haven’t tried to get over it,” he continued, his voice quieter now. “I’ve tried. Or… I”m working on it,” he corrected him, because that sounded better to him.

You two started to walk again, with no real direction or interest in the stalls as you take in his words. Through it all, MK’s smile doesn’t drop- it’s almost like it’s plastered to his face at any given moment of the day. Practiced. Perfected.

He gave you a side eye, his eyes crinkling a little to something more genuine. ”I’m… talking too much,” he realizes, chuckling at himself. You smile back at him, shaking your head no. “It’s alright, I know when I’m blathering on like my Baba~” his eyes shifted back and forth, “Don’t tell him I said that,”

You had a strong feeling however, that there was a high chance the Six Eared Macaque already heard.

MK chuckled as if he realized the same thing himself, “Well, now you know the great fear of the Harbinger-” he cut himself off, “Of the Monkey Kid~!” He says with a tad more pride. You already knew what he had almost slipped up and said. The Harbinger of Chaos.

You had heard the whispers and rumors of the one destined to Bring the end of the world. It wasn’t a secret. They say the day MK was born, Nuwa had appeared for a few brief moments to declare it so. To single this child out as the one to bring about the end of all things. You tried not to openly stare at him for too long, or think about that too obviously in case he could somehow read your mind.

You weren’t sure that was a typical Monkey King power, but better to be safe then sorry.

Still, MK wasn’t what you thought he would be. He wasn’t scary, or brutish, or unapproachable. He was... kind. A little awkward, sure, but there was a warmth to him that made it hard to believe the stories. The way he fidgeted when he was nervous, the way his eyes lit up when he talked about his hobbies, the way he tried so hard to keep that smile on his face even when it seemed like the weight of the world was pressing down on him—it all made him feel... human. Or as human as a demon prince could be.

“You’re not what I expected,” you admitted, your voice soft but sincere.

MK scratched his cheek, “Oh? Did you expect something else?”

You weren’t sure how to respond, especially since Yes you were. How could you not when you grew up outside of the mountain, where nothing but rumors flew around. It was only in recent years that MK even showed himself to the common public, slowly but surely being recognized more for being the Monkey Kid, rather then Nuwa’s cycle ender.

"You’re... different," you said carefully, choosing your words. "I guess I expected someone more... intimidating. But you’re just... you."

MK’s smile faltered for a moment, his eyes flickering with something unreadable before he chuckled softly. "Yeah, I get that a lot," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "I notice you staring a lot.”

AH SHOOT- He’s onto you!

You almost tripped, making MK laugh and your cheeks burn. “I wasn’t staring cause you were- you know- that.” you insist. Liar. You totally were.

“Ooo?” he drawled, “Why were you staring at me so intently then?” he teased- he found this amusing.

You fumble to respond. QUICK! Say something!

(Lmk Wukong) Ohhhhhhhhhh he pisses you off every second of everything day, and it's scares him hell even Macaque is scared of you. It's bad enough that he tends to be irresponsible and Take everything even more difficult with his poor communication skills. Then if it were to cause problems for poor Mk, then that's where you draw the line, and with every life threatening event that is centered around your husband and son. Well both Mk and Wukong Would be actively running from you by the end of it🤣

(MKR Wukong) Man he would take the monk's anger over your anger any time That's how scared he is of you. You know his sh*tty attitude and personality and his habit of having bouts of violence but you. Oh no he would do whatever it takes to stay away from that territory of upsetting you, but if it happens anyway he would get his act together immediately. The pilgrims always gets baffled by his submission and Fruity would say that mama is scary.

(HIB Wukong) Well now at least he knows the Do's and don't's parts of your marriage, considering the results and Consequences. But unfortunately he has to come back home to you after 500 years and he'll have to make up an explanation for his absence. Even worse when you told him time and time again not to go and attack heaven On the count of that is not the best idea to handle the war. Wukong had stupidly disregarded your words and now he has to come home to you, he was right to be worried because you tore him a new one because he Deliberately Disregarded your objections as your environment shook and crack from your yells. the only reason you stop was because he came home with a little boy and baby girl.

(NR Wukong) Li and Su had dumbfounded looks on both of their faces. In the living room was Wukong cowering behind the couch as a female monkey also with a metal mask was screaming profanities at him. The was the day they met you Y/n L/N Wukong his wife, but boi were you quite Intimidating to them. Thankfully they quickly learn how sweet and kind you actually are and the two even fell in love with your godly cooking. You quickly explained that Wukong had fail to tell you that Nezha was recarnated as you stuff Li with food because That's where you always did 3000 years ago.

(Netflix Wukong) Man you used were so little, quiet and cute🥰 when you a cub now your tall, loud, and scary😨 and married to him. You are the more responsible and grounded of the marriage but his reckless behavior makes you both worried and angry. You usually wack him with stick because of his condescending attitude and he should know not to talk to you like that. Then the last straw was when he got to his head in his kaiju form and Lin had to get you and well.....you can imagine how shocking it is to see a giant male monkey to wimper as a tiny female monkey yells at him.🤭🤭🤭

(BMW Wukong) GOLLY!!! you were always the wrong one to mess with 😰. For him pissing off heaven will always be less terrifying than pissing you off😬. Especially when your as powerful as he is, and would have that large club bat you dubbed as Excaliborg That you would occasionally beat his ass with. Unlike Erlang whom he's more then happy to taunt and mess with he knows better then to do the same to you unless he wants to be an must be classified smeer on the ground😬🥶.

(Destined one) He wouldn't get on your nerves in the slightest, mainly because that's a terrible idea but he's a sweet mildly Obedient man to you. You get worried about him alot because he's so selectively mute, so you made sure to engage him in conversations. The one thing you do love is how much he loves your cooking 🍳 and you are more then happy to make large batches for him to eat. He's a good Quiet husband to you and that's good enough for you.

Damn it. Of all the creatures in the world, why did I have to get caught by Sun Wukong.

_"Monkey King! Why are you attacking a customer?" Mk yelled after his mentor suddenly launched into a customer and pinned him to the floor.

_"Look closely at his aura MK. Use your eyes." Wukong answered.

_"It looks like a human's, what's the problem with that?" Mk still doesn't understand.

_"Exactly. Why would a human have a strong magical aura?" There's something fishy about this one.

Damn it! Why is he so smart? Macaque thought to himself.

"That's a demon using glamour. Strong enough to not be seen by us." Wukong explained.

Macaque heard that he'll meet his end by the hands of the monkey king one day, he didn't know when that day will come so he did everything in his power to avoid him and basically erased any trace of his existence. He used glamour most of his life to avoid being recognised. Who would've thought that that would be the thing that draws the king's attention. Also what is monkey king doing in a noodle chop in the city?!

_"That's true. I'm not a human." The stranger admitted, "But I'm not here to cause trouble either. I just wanted to eat some noodles before my show."

_"Show?" Wukong hummed.

_"I'm a theatre actor. I have a show in 30 minutes. I use glamour so humans wouldn't recognise me, that's all."

_"So why can't we see you?" MK asked,

_"I just happen to be very strong." He shrugged.

_"I still don't trust you." Wukong glared at the stranger, trying to see through the glamour.

_"Would it help if I dropped the glamour?" He asked.

_"Alright. But if you try anything funny, I'll snap your neck." Wukong warned.

_"Of course."

Wukong's jaw dropped when he saw the beauty of demon beneath him, staring at him with his sharp purple eyes, a red mask that compliments his dark furr, and that little smile drowing him in. Time froze in that second, it's like the entire world disappeared, he just wanted to look at that face for eternity.

_"I'm the Six-eared Macaque, pleasure to meet you. I've been using glamour to get into theatres for centuries so I just got used to it. I didn't mean to cause trouble." He smiled nervously.

Macaque patted himself on the back because he felt pretty that morning and dolled himself up.

Wukong was still frozen, even his voice is magical... What is that? Did he put a curse on me? Why can't I calm my heart down. Does he have a mate? I don't smell any marks... He smells like a fresh morning breeze in the forest. I wonder what we'd smell like. I wanna mark him-

Meanwhile in Macaque's brain , Please believe me and let me go. Please believe me and let me go, I don't wanna die!

"If you're still not convinced, you are more than welcome to come watch the show."

Macaque will deny that he is a big fan of the Monkey King but only to make sure he is never associated with the king. But if you look closer, you'll realise that he is a shameful hard-core fan.

_"EARTH TO MONKEY KING!" MK yelled, after a while of speaking to the frozen king, he finally managed to unfreeze him.

_"Oh- um. Right. The show. We'll be there." Wukong felt his brain rumbling, he doesn't know why.

_"Great." Macaque smiled, "Could you let go of me now, please?"

_"Oh!" Wukong finally noticed that he was still on top of Macaque, and he was still pinning him down, "sorry." Wukong smiled nervously.

What a great first impression ya dumb f-ck! Wukong doesn't know where that voice in his head came from but he totally agrees.

_"Here, let me help you." Wukong extended his hand for the other monkey on the floor.

_"Thanks." Macaque smiled and took his hand. He isn't stupid to refuse the king's gesture.

_"So you're staying in the city?" Wukong asked.

_"For a while. I travel a lot so I never keep track of my stays. It just happens." Macaque answered. "But I have to go prepare for the show right now."

_"Monkey King let go of his hand." MK shimed in to save Macaque.

_"Oh! Sorry! Didn't notice we were still holding hands. Haha."

Are you being purposely dense! That voice inside Wukong's head just won't let him be.

_"Haha! Not a problem. Actually, now I get to brag that I held the great sage's hand. If anything I should be thankful." Macaque smiled trying his best kind face to make sure the king wouldn't get upset.

The smile on The king's face made Macaque relax a bit.

"Well now, your highness, gentlemen. Excuse me" Macaque said with a little bow and left.

_"Wait-" Wukong said too late. Macaque heard him but he ignored him and ran for his life.

_"What's wrong?" MK asked.

_"He forgot his noodles. He didn't get to eat."

_"Why don't you take it to him? I'm sure he'll be happy to know you brought him food. Maybe he'll even give you his phone number."

_"Really!?"

_"OH MY- You are down bad!" Mk immediately dialled his phone, "MEI! Come here quickly! Monkey King just fell in love and he desperately needs our help!"

Boom!

_"MK, I'M HERE WHAT DID I MISS?!" Mei said jumping out of her motorcycle that destroyed the wall, completely ignoring Pigz's shouting.

_"Monkey King met the love of his life and he messed up their first meeting."

_"OOOOOOOOOOO! How badly did he mess it up?"

_"He literally attacked him then couldn't get his hands off of him once he saw his face."

_"YOOOOOO! HAHA! Man! He is down bad! He does need our help!"

_"SHUT UP! I was just being cautious! Who knew what he could've done! And I don't need your help! .... but I wouldn't mind hearing suggestions..." Monkey King was a bit embarrassed by the right assumption.

_"Well my first suggestion is finding you something nice to wear. Gotta glow up to sharm that mistery crush." Mei winked at him.

_"He's not my crush! Also he has a show in 30 minutes so we gotta be fast."

_"Let's go!" Mei grabbed Monkey King and ran outside.

_"Pigzy get the noodles ready, we'll be right back!" MK said following them.

(Macaque keeps running away and politely refusing the king's advances fearing for his life and Wukong is basically stalking him and trying to court him)

Needed to make this post because I keep seeing this-

I keep seeing people mistake this scene where Macaque smiles at Wukong during the Specials as a sign that he forgives him.

No, he does not, he’s still trying to trust Wukong again. You can see it in the beach scene. They still bicker slighty after this scene, and during the beach scene, Macaque looks at Wukong briefly believing his words before doubting him again. Or at least still getting a bad feeling.

Macaque and Wukong are far from forgiving each other, they’re still trying to trust each other again. However Season 4 is pretty much a start.

Even though Wukong seems to like forgive Macaque, I’m pretty sure it’s because he just survived a series of self-loathing and guilt, he’s probably not fully recovered.

That being said again.

This doesn’t prove Macaque forgave Wukong yet.

People who see this completely forget the conversation MK was having with Wukong.

Prior to Macaque smiling at him, MK tries to lift Wukong’s spirits up, give him hope like Wukong did for him. Encourage him even. He makes a whole speech about getting Wukong back on his feet and becoming the Monkey King again.

However, Wukong doubts it, so he looks to Macaque.

Again some people forget the whole context of this entire scene and just miss out on crucial details BECAUSE WUKONG ISN’T EVEN ASKING FOR FORGIVENESS HERE.

IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE WITH THE WHOLE ASS CONVERSATION-

Wukong knows that MK is his biggest fan, that MK looks to him with rose-tinted glasses, that to a fault, the kid sees too much good in Wukong, he WANTS to believe Wukong is good, Wukong knows that’s his one flaw about his view of him.

So he doesn’t take the staff immediately after MK encourages him, instead he looks to Macaque.

Why? Because he’s asking him, Macaque KNOWS Wukong. He knows Wukong far too much than probably Wukong himself. Macaque can see his faults, his mistakes, he knows Macaque HATES him. HATES the Monkey King, he’s honest about his doubts, his views on Wukong. Despite Azure’s praise, Macaque sees him for what he is.

Prior to this scene, Wukong was suffering with the curse of the scroll, reliving his mistakes and we know one of his mistakes that is most definitely going to play in his head is the scene where he broke off with Macaque. The scene where he yells at Macaque and seemingly destroys his friendship with him forever.

��No that’s you! You’re the one always running off! Looking for more power! More sources of immortality! You’re the one who wouldn’t quit while we were ahead! Not the Great Sage! He’s always trying to drag everyone into his mess!’ Macaque was right. It was him that lost his sights on power, on why he was even gaining power in the first place, it was him who tried bigger and bigger until he couldn’t carry the load anymore. He’s the one who was reckless, not Macaque.

And he was right, he dragged Macaque into this. And only hurt him, the brotherhood and MK by dragging them into the mess he created. By letting MK fight his battles, by letting Macaque get injured over and over again just because he wanted him to help regardless of Macaque’s opinion on the matter. He dragged the Brotherhood into this false sense of justice and power that they ended up getting killed or sealed away.

He hurt them. He hurt them as the Monkey King. All he ever did as the Monkey King was hurt people. That’s why he looks to the one guy that can tell him, tell him honestly.

He asks the one guy that hates his guts, that has every right to hate his guts.

If it was alright for him to BE that guy again.

The reckless, egotistical, self-centered Monkey King again. He asks Macaque, who so negatively views Monkey King’s role as a hero if he should BE that hero again.

He asks Macaque if MK is right. This time, This time he’ll listen. Just tell him if it’s okay for him to BE that guy, if he needs to take a step back, he will no questions asked.

Instead.

Macaque smiles at him.

He assures Wukong that he’s okay with it. Yes he can be that guy, flaws and all. He’s willing to give him that chance.

Macaque was giving Wukong not only permission but assurance that Wukong is allowed to be that hero again. The one that everyone adores and loves and the one that people NEED right now.

Only then does Wukong stand and take the staff once more.

Macaque and Wukong still need to trust each other again sure.

But this whole scene is just Wukong at his DEEPEST and LOWEST he’s ever been. The usually loud, cheery and expressive Monkey King was reduced to the unusually quiet, sad and barely even audible Wukong who had been beaten down by his guilt and shame. He can barely look at MK…he can barely raise his voice. And judging by how quiet he was he might’ve been crying until his voice gave out. Paired with Macaque holding grudges yet still reminiscing their good times together. Seeing THAT must’ve been so disturbing for him.

Again, Macaque has this view of Wukong. The same way he notices MK’s despair and loss of light, he notices Wukong’s change in personality. However, unlike MK, there’s a chance Macaque has never SEEN this side of Wukong. He’s always seen Wukong so confident and unbreakable. So much so he doesn’t hold back against him at all. But seeing THIS must’ve done something to him- like scared him, disturbed him.

And now he’s looking at him like that? He’s so low on self-esteem that he looks to the one guy that hates his guts more than anyone else for permission to be that guy again? It probably frightened him more than anyone ever realized.

And by suitors, Wukong does indeed have quite a lot of them after New Years, not all fo them being after him solely due to his newly discovered identity as the Great Sage Equal to Heaven thats been misisng for so long. See, he's a very pretty monkey, a very, very pretty monkey. But he's also an oblivious monkey, and there's been more than one occasion where his friends, usually Designated Overprotective Brother Sandy, had to step in before someone got a little too handsy for their favorite mechanic's comfort amd quite a few fpiled courtnapping attempts! After New Years, this becomes a much more common problem. Not every demon had managed to figure out Wu the Mechanic was Sun Wukong. Some were either not in the web at all or just too out of it to pay any attention. But everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, felt it when Wukong used his powers to attract the spiders bots to him and act as a decoy for his friends to escape. And demons are attractive to power, so with Wukong showing such godly power AND beauty beautiful!? Well, Sandy and DBK start bonding over scaring off suitors.

Grease Monkey Wukong be dealing with unwanted attention from all sides. XD

That feel when you the strongest, prettiest monkey in all the Realm, but you only ever had eyes for one person (who's current living status is up in the air).

Admiring Customer: "You did such a good job. Is there… another way I can pay you?" Wukong, oblivious: "Sure! You can pay me in instalments if it's easier for you!" :D Admiring Customer: "No I mean-" Red Son: (*glares protectively at customer from the other side of the shop*) Admiring Customer, strike of fear: "Oh! It's okay..."

The rest of the gang gets in on it. Pigsy is a demon, and can tell when there's someone casing the joint for a potential courtnapping. Most suitors get a polite "please leave" before the chef brings out the wooden spoon.

And oh boy, MK! He may not realise it - but as a "cub" in his uncle's little troop; MK has an instinctual urge to protect his dear Uncle Wu from potential threats/unwanted suitors.

It's why Macaque gets romance-blocked at every turn. XD

What would happen if MK got a circlet? - Theory/Analysis

(Warning: talk of self harm)

A little while ago, I made a post (here), where I brought up how Wukong getting a circlet in the last season, could be a set-up for MK getting one in the next season.

So, I thought it would be interesting to look into the evidence for it, starting with:

MK's Characther Development

MK for the last couple of seasons (4-5), have been trying to deal with the fact, that he might be at fault for all the harm that have been put upon the world and (more importantly) his friends and family.

This does make sense, as we now know, that it is techincally his fault that so many world-ending scenarios have been happening lately.

MK's birth/awakening is literally the sign that the cycle is about to come to an end, and if he is hence woken up too early than he is supposed to, then the cycle will come to an end too early.

But now, MK has kept the cycle going past it's experation date, and hence proven that people can live without destiny and deal with what comes next together.

But that ironically enough leads to MK's next problem: Proving that the world really can live with chaos now that there is no destiny/ control to ward it off.

Chaos has already started to show its first signs, with Macaque's shadow powers suddenly turning orange and MK's staff suddenly gltiching with thoughs same chaos powers.

Not to mention that MK and the other stones (that have now given power to everyone on Earth) are literally made from chaos!

So, how is the world going to be able to control all this chaos? Well, one answer (at least to control MK's chaos) could be the circlet. After all, the reason Sun Wukong got a circlet back in JTTW in the first place was to control his chaotic nature that hurt quite a few people.

But that just begs the question then: How would MK even get a circlet?

Well to that I see two possibelties:

Tang gives it to him (probably by accident) as Tang is directly related to Tripitaka.

MK gives himself a circlet.

I'm going to discuss the latter, as it is one I haven't seen discussed a lot.

MK giving himself a circlet was brought to my attention by a comment made by @peachponygirl on my original post about MK getting a circlet, and got me thinking:

We have seen he is cabable of controlling the circlet, so wouldn't that mean he should also be able to summon one based on what we saw with Li-Jing?

So, lets say that MK's chaos went out of control (for example: he went apehshit), and while it probably wasn't his fault, he is going to start thinking if maybe him staying alive after the cycle is even a good thing? If maybe, there was a reason he could only live for so long? If the way he was created wasn't intended to hurt people, but only if he sacfriced himself at the end of the cycle (something I discussed in an earlier theory)

And then lets say that he is in another situation, where he is about to lose control again, and in a panic he gives himself a circlet, so he can control himself.

This would be incredibly dark (and is also why I put a warning in the start), but it could possibly happen.

To summarize:

MK needs to learn and try to live without a destiny, and the stability it gave him. He might not have known, he even had a destiny for most his life, but when he did, there most have been something comforting about it. After all, he almost immedatly accepted it, when he learned his destiny was to sacfrice himself, and was about to pull through, before realizing he will just end the world either way.

So now if MK learned, that his biggest fear for most of season 4-5 (that he will hurt the people he loves), could actually happen now that there is no destiny, he might seek out the circlet (just in case) there needs to be a way to stop him.

Conclusion: Oh god this theory got dark.

Hi, I wanted to say that I really liked reading your analyses when it comes to flaws in lmk's writing, along with the ranking of the villains that you did. I hope it's alright to ask for advice, since I'd like to make a romantic self insert story with Macaque, but the thing is that I'm worried on how to portray the platonic relationship between Sun Wukong and Macaque. While we still don't know entirety of how Macaque died in his fight with Wukong, I've already made decision to address both of their faults that caused their relationship's downfall. What I'm worried about is how to portray it clearly that it's both of their faults, without making them too OOC. Some fans have tendency to chose sides with their whole situation, which is something I'd like to avoid. But I'm not sure how to avoid that, which is why I'd like to ask for your advice on it.

A Rundown on the Fallout

This is an interesting question, and thank you for asking! Given how much of their personal backstory is left to viewer interpretation, I’ve included a little bit of mine.

I think the big, big thing that people miss with the Sundial/Shadowpeach fallout is how severely uneven it is. But give me a minute to get there…

Probably the biggest of Past!Sun Wukong’s biggest issues is what I’m going to call “externalizing”. (This isn’t the appropriate way to use that word, but I’m at a loss here) Wukong is bright and loud and happy- and very, very desperate for attention.

Sun Wukong’s literal first action in the world was to excitedly barrel towards a group of monkeys. His first words end with him asking plainly “Don’t ya like it?!” like a child begging for praise from a parent. He shows off to Subodhi’s other students. He eagerly tells a chaotic story to his sworn brothers and is implied to play it up to some degree for attention.

This is direct opposition to Macaque.

Past!Macaque is quiet, withdrawn. He has no ties to other people. He doesn’t pipe up. He’s not bold or confident. So what does Macaque do?

Well, just about jackshit. There’s only TWO members of the six-strong brotherhood that he actually shares interactions with- Sun Wukong and Peng.

Azure Lion? Yellowtusk? Demon Bull King? Macaque literally doesn’t interact with any of them even once. Nobody calls him brother. Flash to the modern day, and he’s the last person Azure bothers looking for.

He doesn’t joke, or tell stories, or try to bond with the rest of the crew. This is literally how he responds to being called a coward and a rodent by a “brother”.

By mildly frowning.

(Side note: WUKONG IS NOT IN THE WRONG FOR NOT DEFENDING MACAQUE FROM PENG. Macaque never went above a mild frown and never acted hurt or upset beyond this little facial expression. If he was sad ((WHICH HE WASN’T)) or seethingly angry ((WHICH HE WASN’T)) then it’s on Macaque and Macaque alone for not defending himself. Wukong is not his brother’s keeper, etc.)

(Macaque, even in the past, was a lot stronger than he’s often given credit for. Did this remark make him unhappy? Yes. Did it break or ruin him? No.)

He has no friends or ties to the past. No mentor and no fellows and no troop. No one likes him. No one wants him. No once cares about him… except for the Monkey King.

All he has is Sun Wukong.

So already they’re on this MASSIVELY unbalance scale where Wukong has a title and a troop and a heaping handful of immortalities and a band of brothers and a sacred weapon and a mountain and and and!!!

And… Macaque has… his shadow powers?

Yeah, they’re not on level footing. Wukong could pull out of the brotherhood and away from Macaque and throw down his staff and still have so, so much!

And Macaque, if he left Wukong, would have next to nothing.

Sun Wukong is his one good thing. His one star in a dark sky. Sun Wukong is all that Macaque has.

Already is this an EXTREMELY unhealthy dynamic, where you’re basically living for a second person without them putting that devotion back towards you-

Which is exactly what causes the downfall of this relationship.

Macaque doesn’t speak up for or against anything. He’s just willing to sit pretty and play along… because it’s for his one good thing.

Because it’s for Wukong.

Even if his brothers don’t like him, or he gets mocked, or he doesn’t want to play along, Macaque grits his teeth and stays- because it’s for Wukong.

Because he can’t lose his one good thing.

So he’ll do anything.

And that’s the problem.

The Monkey King isn’t asking him to shut up and play nice. Nor does he ask for blind loyalty. And he doesn’t ask his friend not to voice his concerns and fears.

Macaque is choosing to do these things.

Because he can’t lose his one good thing.

Macaque is choosing to “internalize” (again, this isn’t the appropriate way to use that word, but I’ve set a precedent here) his thoughts and feelings.

Macaque pulls everything inside, and Sun Wukong pushes it all out.

The First Crack: Uneven Expectations

Macaque is not honest with his thoughts and feelings. He never actually expresses the way he feels to Wukong, which leads to the Monkey King never understanding his feelings. But you know what Macaque DOES do?

He gently and softly nudges the idea of maybe kinda I dunno potentially not taking over the entire Celestial Realm???

But he doesn’t say no.

Macaque never expresses himself or genuinely tries to talk Wukong out of overthrowing the Jade Emperor. He just hints at the idea and EXPECTS Wukong to pick up on his thoughts and wants without any real effort on his own part. He puts ALL of the onus onto Wukong to understand and reach out to him, without putting that amount of time and effort in himself.

Macaque wants to be understood without putting on the effort to be understandable, which isn’t fair to Wukong at all.

The Second Crack: Unfairly Divided Consequences

Wukong is solely punished for the crimes of six men, and left to rot while his sworn brothers run free.

Sun Wukong is trapped. For attempting to overthrow the Jade Emperor, he is sentenced to FIVE HUNDRED YEARS trapped under a mountain.

Let me elaborate for anyone who doesn't sympathize.

For the next five hundred years, Sun Wukong will be 75% immobile and alone under a nearly lightless mountain. There will be no noise, no stimulation, and no company. He will suffer in silence, and he will suffer alone.

But you know who ISN'T being punished for an attempt to overthrow the Jade Emperor?

Macaque.

Now, this is funny. Wukong leads a six strong band of brothers against the forces of the Celestial Realm, but only ONE of them faces consequences for the rebellion- himself.

Even five hundred years later when Wukong is set free and traveling with his fellow pilgrims...

No one else has faced consequences for the rebellion. All five of Wukong's "brothers" (Azure Lion, Peng, Demon Bull King, Yellowtusk, and yes, Macaque) get away scot-free to continue their plans and schemes.

I would be pissed. You would be pissed. There is not ONE SINGLE PERSON in this world that would NOT be pissed about how blatantly unfair this is.

This is especially important if you read Azure Lion’s about Wukong “surrendering” as the truth (he is an unreliable narrator), then it’s likely his brothers were spared as a result of his surrender. And still, he’s all alone in this cavern, bored and uncomfortable and angry.

And probably very sad and lonely, too.

The Third Crack: Peach Symbolism

When Wukong wants to cheer Macaque up, what does he do?

Engage in snacking and physical affection that leaves the two snuggled up side by side on a sunny beach.

Seems like the Monkey King has a pretty good read on his best bud!

Now, how does Macaque repay the favor?

After an unknown period of time spent in the extensively explained condition above leaves Wukong angry and frustrated, Macaque comes by to-

Jam a peach into Wukong’s face and act like nothing is wrong at all.

Sun Wukong doesn’t want to pretend that nothing is wrong. He doesn’t want to act like everything is okay. He wants to be free.

But Macaque has put on an act this entire time. He’s played along and kept quiet and complacent and been “good”, and even now is he acting.

So he presents, of all fucking thing, a peach.

Sun Wukong likes peaches, yes. They’re likely a comfort food from a time long past, a constant in his long, long life.

(I bet that on Flower Fruit Mountain there’s a special strain untainted by the push of genetically-modified fruit that’s grown to be chock-full of sugar. I bet it’s his absolute favorite thing in the world to eat. I bet he shared it with the Pilgrims. I bet he wishes he could share it with them again. I bet.)

They’re a symbol of massive freedom- freedom from strife and pain and death.

And having that symbol presented to him so plainly and pretend-happily?

It’s just the final nail in his diminishing coffin of self-control.

The Fourth Crack: Wukong Lashes Out

So, as was unavoidable from the start of his imprisonment- Wukong snaps and rejects the peach, mocking Macaque for trying to cheer him up from a five-hundred year sentence with fruit and a false smile.

But he doesn’t stop there-

The Monkey King continues to castigate his best friend, blaming him for things that are the shoulderweights of six men.

Except he’s not really lashing out at Macaque directly- he’s just lashing out, and Macaque happens to be the nearest target.

There was bound to be a breakdown eventually. No matter how you look at this scenario, anyone would snap. There’s literally not even one person who wouldn’t break down eventually.

And then, Macaque lashes right back, and says something very interesting-

The Fifth Crack: Macaque Lies and Run Away

(Censored quotes taken from same analysis)

No, he didn't.

Macaque nudges the idea. He implies the idea. He hints it, quietly and softly.

"You're really going through with this?" Is not him shutting down the idea of fighting the Celestial Realm.

It's him being a coward and trying to dance around the issue without a direct confrontation.

Not even once does Macaque say: “We shouldn't fight the Jade Emperor."

He directly LIES to present himself as being the better person during this fight.

Macaque is lying to his best friend’s face to make himself look better in this utterly pointless argument, then prepares to run away and never comes back- but not before placing literally all of the blame for EVERYTHING onto Wukong’s shoulders.

Final Crack: YOU are responsible for MY behavior!

Finally, Macaque makes a few last “Nothing is ever MY fault!” statements to Wukong, consisting of:

“You dragged everyone else into this!”

“You put yourself here, not me!”

Which are BOTH blatantly untrue, given that

1. The Azure Lion is actually the one who started the Brotherhood in the first place

2. Macaque is a grown man who makes his own decisions

3. The rest of the Brotherhood are grown men who make their own decisions

4. Macaque went along with the plan willingly

5. The rest of the Brotherhood went along with the plan willingly

6. Everyone took part in the attempted rebellion of their own will and volition

Everyone is responsible for the end result, including Macaque who was there literally every step of the way, but he doesn’t want to accept that!

Macaque wants to be a perfect little victim who can wipe his hands of the matter, and who better to blame…

Then his “one good thing”, who is now utterly helpless and incapable of doing anything about it?

Macaque only finally lashes out and speaks up when there is literally no way to face recourse for it- which is proof of the cowardice lurking inside him.

There’s a big reason that Wukong calling him out for “running away” hits so hard and is what finally prompts Macaque into speaking up and tries to absolve himself of all blame.

Because Macaque knows that Wukong is right.

The first thing that Macaque does when things go wrong is to prioritize himself and run away. (Just remember how he responded to unleashing the Samadhi Fire.) Then, when all is said and past and it’s time to tell the tale, Macaque will whitewash himself- which he does blatantly in “Shadowplay”.

So when his gilded “one good thing” finally cracks the image Macaque built up by being a fallible person who stumbles and slips up and makes very human mistakes?

He abandons ship, and allows his flaws to start sliding out- now Macaque is “externalizing”, which he’ll continue to do to the present day- taking everything inside and putting it out- by projecting and slandering and lying and trying to hurt innocent people.

Essentially, Macaque puts his best friend on a pedestal and of his own will and volition plays the role of “lackey” for nothing in return without being asked, then ditches him over a fight and returns to a much unhealthier group of “friends”, while Sun Wukong is left to serve a lonely sentence as punishment. But because the Monkey King receives punishment and does his time, Wukong is allowed a chance at redemption under the loving and caring eye of his Master, Tang Sanzang, and manages to redeem himself, where his guilty brothers going free leads them to continually rack up crimes that leaves them on the receiving end of the pilgrims wrath.

Courtnapping rooms are a must, old schools courtnapping usually last around a year but now days it's at best 2 weeks. The courtnapped person must consent and if not they can leave. The courtnapper must provide everything for their partner, including their hobbies, favourite food, family visits, etc… (it's basically a pre-dating very complex honeymoon

Before anything else, context is necessary (in the form of a small one shot of course):

"-Oh! I have been meaning to make a request from you! How silly, I had almost forgotten all about it." Blue remarked, their eyes lighting up as they set down their iced coffee, not a single spot of liquid on their mouth after taking their sip.

Macaque turned up, his hand paused from stirring his tea, and he raised an eyebrow.

"What for?" he asked. "Ahhh well, as you know with this whole new power system these mortals have suddenly obtained-" they waved their hand dismissively, their face scrunching up just the slightest but as they did, "there has been a calling for an international summit! World leaders coming together in order to discuss a universal issue." "And that includes you?" Macaque scoffed, hardly believing it. "You're just the Mayor." Surely, the guy didn't just rise up the ranks of political power without Macaque knowing. Last he checked, the guy hasn't moved out of their office in City Hall. "Indeed, but, I am still the Mayor of one of the most influential cities in the world, and the city that is still undeniably at the focal point of all this madness!"

Well, he supposed that's not wrong.

"Uh huh, fine, so you're going?" "Next month for only a week! All the way to Europe. It will be quite exciting to visit again! How long has it been, a hundred years? Or less? Hmm..." Before they could go off on a ramble, they shook their head promptly. They then set their elbows on the table, beaming at him with a bright smile, saying, "Regardless of all of this, I was wondering if, for that period I am gone, you could look after Hershey for me?"

Macaque's eyes slowly squinted at them. His mouth, opening just a smidge as he contemplated their request.

"You want me... to look after your dog?" He asked slowly, hesitant with his words. They nodded, still beaming at him. Before he frowned and leaned away, he let out a quick scoff and let go of the spoon in his tea. After settling down, he continued with, "you should just take her with you." That would be easier, wouldn't it? There's no way Blue actually trusted him with their dog. "Air lines have not changed their practices for animals on board for decades, and I do not want to keep Hershey locked in the cargo area for hours on end." As if they actually care about something like that. Or maybe they do. Trying to get a read on where their head was at in terms of getting attached was getting hard these days.

"Fine. But you could always just, once you get to Europe, open a portal and get Hershey to come through." Another reasonable, perfectly fine solution. "How will I explain how I managed to bring my dog then?" "Nobody has to know how." "It will still raise questions, dear. Especially from Aigou, who will be coming with me on this trip."

As if they were scared of using their powers in public. They weren't. Both of them knew that. There was something else here. An underlying intention.

"We both know you can get away with it," Macaque ended up saying, letting out a scoff. "And come on, can't your neighbours take care of her-?" "Macaque," they let out a huff and that bright look was gone. Replaced by something more exasperated. "Perhaps I should have been more straight forward with this." "Of course-" Macaque scoffed once more and pointed at them, "you have ulterior motives." "I was only thinking that my absence would be the perfect opportunity for you and Hershey to get along!"

Ah. There it is. And Macaque doesn't like it. No, he hates it.

"You're joking." And when the Mayor didn't budge, Macaque grimaced. "Darling," They tutted, shaking their head, "you are making it sound like it will be horrible." Macaque is also lucky that Blue managed to train Hershey to not float away and keep her own body intact before entrusting her into the care of Macaque.

They video call the Mayor often. Mayor refuses to make a portal to have face to face contact with Macaque lest he shoves Hershey through the portal in a fit of protest.

She'll fall asleep on Macaque at 10 at night and then wake him up at the crack of dawn- it's not a good arrangement guys.

But hey it's not Macaque's life if something bad doesn't happen.

Sun Wukong

He feels pathetic and unworthy of being in a relationship with you seeing you now possessed by a demon he already fought and again couldn’t kill but because she’s purposely used your body as a vessel. Before he was already wondering where you were since you hadn’t been around or seen lately and then he saw who he failed to protect you from.

LBD uses countless methods of threats to harm “her” body lethally in order for Wukong to comply with her and get him to agree to certain conditions, knowing that he won’t do a thing against her as long as she’s in your body and it tortures him how helpless he feels. He wanted to trade places with yours and give his body as a vessel as she demanded to keep you safe but that would only hurt everyone.

The knowledge that you’re the one possessed and not anyone else is a further boost of motivation to get the three rings of samadhi. He even gets a passing comment of acknowledgment from Macaque about how dirty of a trick she’s using to possess your body when they fight on the airship which Wukong can see the deep hidden sympathy.

Fighting her and consequently, you is one of the hardest battles he’s had to fight and he has to keep reminding himself that he’s fighting her and not you. The moment he realizes that he fucked up and faltered letting her possess him as her champion he’s almost relieved that he doesn’t have to fight you but now everything is on the others and he can’t see you anymore.

The moment you’re free and he sees you falling after being forced out is the moment he grabs you and cradles you in his arms, holding you tenderly for a minute before leaving you in the safety of the arms of a clone and the others around. When all is safe and the danger is permanently gone he’s not leaving your side and neither are you.

Better be prepared to be with Wukong almost all the time because he’s going to keep you with him as long as he can if he’s not allowed to keep you at his mountain for a while and shower you in love and affection.

Macaque

He was already angry with LBD for many reasons but the moment he sees her again for the first time in centuries and she’s chosen you as a vessel to possess he’s frozen in fear and fury. Fearful of how she knew you existed, knew the relationship you both have, what plans she had if she was going to use you against him, and what was going to happen to you since he had purposely ignored her after being resurrected. Whatever plans he had about haphazardly following whatever she wanted him to do was out the window.

MK immediately put together the pieces on why Macaque was being more forceful than he was whenever you were mentioned and the small hint of fear in his eyes when MK brought up your possessed state. He told the shadow demon to join them and they’d find a way to stop her and keep you safe while they did it but Macaque couldn’t take that chance.

Each time he returned without MK or Wukong he would use any bit of information he had if it meant keeping you safe and even possibly letting part of his plan to free himself go. Any time he panicked seeing her threaten you with eternal servitude like him or harm he could see the normally adorable glint of glee that now wasn’t you anymore.

Once LBD forced some of her power in him he knew his time to get you and him safe was quickly ending and almost contemplated asking Wukong for help with how desperate he was to keep you safe. After the fire was released and he chose to flee he kept to the shadows near you to make sure you were safe, keeping tabs on everyone and only coming out when he needed to or wanted to.

The moment everything was over and you were forced out of LBD Macaque dove and caught you; extremely tempted to let his shadow clones help out with the rest of the defeat but didn’t. When everything was over he wasted no time and brought you close, promising to never let anything happen to you and to always keep you close to him. You were just happy to be able to hold him in your arms again and not worry about either of you being taken from the other, mentally or physically.

Long rant about the au idea ⬇️⬇️⬇️

Actually they're for my detective au I'm not really talking about but I do have this fun little animatic idea in my head to Michael Bublé - Better be tonight, where MK and Wukong beat up a lot of people behind the scenes in the bar while Macaque distracts the audience with a performance lol haha how silly of me

But yeah the au would be Wukong is a private detective who has already retired, and MK (a young detective working for the police (dw were all about acab here, so Mk would realize how shitty the police system is and leave)) would seek him out for help with a case about some underground Mafia business

(probably something I would do with LBD and the Demon bull family but who knows), and Wukong decides to help him MK and also just teach him stuff along the way while also guiding him away from the police force

(probably something something Wukong worked as a detective in there, jttw event converted into detective cases idk, celestials as the justice system ect ect),

but they would ultimately work together on the case and would cross paths with Macaque (who needs a proper human name) Wukongs former partner (partner as in work related business but yeah they were also fucking), who will probably stab them in the back at some point in the story LBD pressure and whatnot,

but yeah on normal days Mac works a shitty job in an office, but Wukong swears up and down that Mac is up to something shady (and he is kinda right) (also side note: every individual in the office regardless of gender has had an office crush on Macaque at some point lol)

Also Wukong when he worked at the police actually got himself quite the name and so people know about him, kinda was the face of the police force at some point, and MK decides to be a detective bc of Wukong, (but that was kind of a given, even tho in the show before getting his powers MK wasn't really interested in becoming a here and this was also a key plot point in season 4 MK not wanting to do all the crazy magic shit and wanting to go back to being just a delivery boy and sometimes beating up the eventual villain of the week, but whatevs)

They're in their 40s maybe early 50s but Wukong somehow still looks 20-30 years old nobody knows how he does it, everyone else is kinda the same age in the show

They're also in America for this cuz--- this is a 90s 80s detective show just because I want it to be--- how did the characters from China end up here idk :| something something emigration or maybe the au can stay in China idk man Im making up half of this as I'm writing but it's fun I like the rotate my little aus in my brain

Hey, so I know there's already a Pucca request but that's for who would be Pucca and who'd be Garu, but what if the Monkey King met Reader who had the same abilities as Pucca? You know, strong enough to probably split mountains, fast enough to know one run and swim across the sea but split like Moses, is very Durable like not even a giant boulder could stop and would crumble into pieces, and could blow everything away like how the big bad wolf does (but IS able to blow away bricks, trees and probably giant boulders too).

Hell, I've seen an episode where a dude had powerful portal scissors (or something like that) that only he could lift and while others struggle to even get it off the ground, but Pucca picked them up with ease. So could you imagine what the Wukong's reactions would be if not only did he see reader do all those things listed before but also saw her able to LIFT HIS STAFF? Just a reminder, staff is 17,550 LBS AND IS A ORIGINALLY A GIANT PILLAR.

(Lmk Wukong) You are a huge anomaly. Your Mk's adopted mother and have been taking care of him ever since he was a baby. Wukong liked you from the start, but you have some very unusual quirks to you. For example, Wukong was testing Mk on his strength and throwing a large rock, but he totally missed it, and it headed towards you while you were surfing the web. Wukong paled, and Mk tried to get your attention, but the Boulder broke right on top of your head!!! You were so unbothered that you didn't even look up from your phone. Wukong's jaw dropped, and Mk fainted. Later on, you continued to scare your son and boyfriend. When Mk and Wukong were racing each other, you some ran up to their speed And What blew their mind was the fact that you were running on water and making a large spit in the middle. Wukong is so perplexed that he and Mk flew into some trees. Then the final straw was when Macaque tricked Mk and stole his power, which left Mk pinned under his staff and you were so pissed that you took the heavy staff tight off of Mk and swung it like a damn jump rope As you wasted no time beating Macaque's ass🤣🤣🤣. Wukong was at a total loss . Seriously, what are you?! Wukong was not only impressed but greatly frightened.

(HIB Wukong) Oh boy, do you frighten him. You guys met when you were helping Luier and Silly girl find him at his mountain prison. And ever since you got together, you have demonstrated your abilities and powers. For example, when Wukong had a hard time getting out of the mountain, you punched it so hard you broke it in half, which made Wukong's jaw drop. Then another time was that fight with the dragon Wukong had to fend it off but Silly girl got in the way, and which scared Luier but you ran at the speed of light to catch her And His mind was blown when he found that you were running on the water and rescue Silly girl. Wukong paled further as you blew him and pigsy's mind. It gets This crazier with the final showed down against Hun Dun when Wukong thought he lost Luier. You took this time to jump and rescue the 2 children you broke through the ruble and rescued Luier and Silly girl. your face was red in fury meanwhile Wukong was destroying Hun Dun and you finally arrived and grabbed Wukong's staff and gave Hun Dun a ass whooping so bad Wukong very low key felt bad for him😬😬😬 After everything Wukong was low key terrified and turned on by you.

(MKR Wukong) Holy smokes, you would have him wrapped around your finger. Before the journey, Wukong asked his master to bring you his wide along since he left you at flower fruit mountain. The monk sighed but agreed, and you showed your abilities to the max when you broke through mountain paths and running on the water to complete tasks. The pilgrims start to see why you and Wukong are together for this long. Especially when you punched through a mountain when the group got ambushed by some stray demons. One time their was an⁰ avalanche And a bunch of boulders landed on our head but each of them cracked and broke on your head And you weren't even affected you were more worried about Wukong and Fruity then yourself. Then things got more and more unnatural when you helped Wukong fight the demon king and his army, and you yourself had used his staff during the fight too and release your demon forms together. After all that, the monk and pigsy learned to respect you. If They know what's good for them and Wukong was more in love with you than ever.

(NR Wukong) You were a bazaar entity, more so than him. Your skills and abilities were left unknown to Li, Su, and somehow Wukong. It all started when Li was being trained by Wukong and, to an extent, you. Li lost control a few times, but you weren't affected by his fire as you helped put him out. Wukong tends to make metal float in the garage a lot so you would get hit sometimes, but it never effects you in the slightest. In fact, you would leave dents in some of them sometimes. During the fight with the dragon king you Wukong saw you running on the water looking for Li and it almost caused him to crash in shock Because you are running so fast, The water split in half as you look for your newly adopted son and Daughter Li and Su. And finally he fell on his ass when you yanked his staff away and help Li with the final battle and Li even told Wukong that he got a glimpse of you whispering to Nezha when he finally Accepted his identity. Wukong realized that 500+ years of marriage, and he doesn't know a damn thing about you😦

(Netflix Wukong) Your cute face and personality were what cause Wukong to underestimate you heavily. You were Lin's neighbor and have taken the liberty of taking care of her, and because of that, Lin considered you an older sister. Wukong hand made fun of us a lot, but then he got into trouble with Dragon King and Heaven. During the fight with Dragon king, Wukong saw you run on the water and spilt the ocean in half as you went and help the villagers and What scared him was how You moved at the speed of light and grabbed everybody leaving no one get hurt in the crossfire then you punch through giant mountains and helped him battle the dragon king. Wukong was kinda glad to have you as back up Especially when heaven's officials show up. You took Wukong's staff and beat the crap out of both the dragon king and buddha as they bought harm to him and Lin. In the end, Wukong found himself blushing hard when you smothered him with kisses as the end of both fights.
