Seeing a bunch of older artworks and XB3-style model edits for Fiora inspired me to doodle my attempt at what she might look like after the timeskip. If Shulk can look like a cute mommy then it's only fair that she can too.
Decided to stick with Tanaka's Xenogears artstyle instead of Saito's, so I ended up mixing features from her XB2 concept art along with Yui Uzuki's (hey, her husband is a Citan now, who'd have seen that coming?). Gave her the prototype dress because it looks cute and comfy, and also because I'm not fashionminded enough to come up with a new one on my own.

Marshall's lil sister
Warning
Im not good at writing spice or smut...so...yea, it's going to be very bad. Im sorry
!¡Spoilers for The Lost Boys¡! (Kinda...)
Information: You are Haley's little sister. You two got Separated in your early teens. She was 2 years older than you. Now your 23, looking beautiful as ever and also looking for your sister. You heard that haley was somewhere in New Orleans. You packed your things and drove to New Orleans. It was beautiful.
You were able to find someone that knew were she was. The Mikaelons. You heard a lot about them. Especially the hybrid, named Klaus Mikaelon. Anyone was scary of him, but he didn't scare me.
I drove up to the beautiful Mansion that the Mikaelons lived in. I took a Very deep breath and opened my door. "Lets go see if my sister is here" I walked up to the door. I knocked on the door three times.
A beautiful blonde girl answered the door. "Hi, is Haley Marshall here?" I asked. "Why are you asking?" Oh... She's British. Nice. "She's my sister and I haven't seen her in over a decade" I looked down, feeling a little emotional. "Haley love, your sister is here" the beautiful blonde called I to the big house. "Please come inside, love" she smiled, moving out the way. "Thank you" I smiled, walking in. "Wow, this is beautiful" I looked around me as I walked in. "I know, its amazing" she hummed. "Come sit down" she led me to the living room.
"Hello there" A brown haired man said. He was sitting on a white couch with a book in his right hand. "Hello, you must be.... Elijah?" I asked sitting down on a white couch, A cross from him. "Yes, im Elijah Mikaelon. Who are you?" "Im Yn Marshall, younger and the only sister of Haley Marshall" I smiled. "Im Rebekah Mikaelon" Rebekah sat next to me. "I love your hair" I said to her, "thanks"
"Yn!?" I turned my head to see who I've been looking for. "Haley!" I stood up and ran to her. "I can't believe I found you" I hugged her tightly, "I can't believe it's you" she hugged back.
"Who is this?" A tall dirty blonde man walked in the room. "Klaus, this is my sister, Yn. Yn this is-" "the big bad hybrid" I smirked. His face turned very serious, in less than a second. I was being pushed up against by Klaus. His hands on my throat, I could still breathe, but it was a little hard to do so. "Put her down!" Rebekah stood up from her seat quickly. "Dont you never call me that again." He said with his thick british accent. "Cute" I laughed. What that, his hands got tighter. "Niklaus! Get your hands off the poor women" Elijah stood up and vamp ran next to him. He pulled him off of me and looked my neck. "Are you ok? Do you need anything?" He asked glancing at Klaus. "Im fine" I smiled at Elijah, who smiled back.
"Lets go to my room" Haley grabbed me and I followed her to her room.
We walked up the long, dark brown stairs into A short hallway. The hallway was a light tan color, with dark brown on the side.
"Here it is" Haley smiled as opened the door. The room was beautiful, and a bit messy, but beautiful. "Wow" I smiled as I sat on her bed. "It looks really cute" I smiled again, "but not really your aesthetic" I looked at her. "I know, I've been here for a two months. I'll be getting some things for my room" she sat next to me. "How have you been?" "Looking for you and our pack. And luckily, I found both" I looked at her. "Really?" "Yea, but let's not get sad here. How about we watch a movie?" "Sure" "The Lost Boys?" "Hell yeah!" She yelled grabbed a DVD of The Lost boys. "I haven't watched it in forever" I smiled as I put it in the tv. "Me nether" Haley smiled. "We should got some sneaks" "yeah" we got up.
Me and her both ran down stairs like when we were little pups. Me and her raced to the kitchen. I beat her, just like when we were pups. "What do you want?" Haley asked, "m&Ms, peanut m&Ms, nerds, gummies or cotton candy?" She finished her question. "How about like?" I smirked, "just like when we were pups" she smiled. She put all the things in a bag, so it would be easier to carry upstairs. I made two bags of popcorn, me and her both love popcorn. A lot...
After we made our popcorn, Rebekah wanted to join. I said yes, cause she seemed cool. I grabbed another bag of popcorn and made it for her.
"So, how does.... This work?" "Well, we just watch movies, do each other hair, talk about boys and other stuff" I smiled. Rebekah smiled as we walked up the stairs. "This is going to be fun!" I yelled as i walked in.
I jumped on the bed and placed the popcorn down. I jumped off the bed and sat in a chair, that I moved in front of the bed. Rebekah and Haley sat on the bed behind me. "Yn, could you press play?" Haley asked, "sure!" I jumped up and pressed play before sitting back down. "What are we watching?" Rebekah asked, "The Lost Boys" I turned to her with a smile. "What's that?" "Its a vampire movie" I said. "oh, so this is a vampire movie?" "Yep! Me and Haley watched it when we weren't suppose to" I laughed. "Well that, let's get started" Haley started to do my hair. "Rebekah, do you want me to do your hair?" I asked, "sure" she moved down and sat in front of me. As Haley did my hair, I did Rebekah's.
We were now at the part where Michael, Star, Laddie and the Lost Boys are at their cave.
"So Rebekah, do you have a crush on anyone?" I said finishing up her hair, "In the movie" Haley added. " "I think, Dwayne, he's cute" she said looking at the scene. How about you Haley? Still like Paul?" I wiggled my eyebrows, even though she couldn't see them. "I bet you still like Marko and Sam" she fired back at me. "What!? Their cute" I told her. We laughed at the stupid little argument we had.
Skip Time~~~
Third person
Half way through the movie, the girls fell asleep. Haley was laying on her stomach on her bed, facing the tv. Yn on the chair with her feet on another. Rebekah was next to Haley, laying on her stomach too. The girls were fast a fall, until Yn woke up.
Yn's POV
I woke up to the ending of the movie. With the frog brothers, Sam and Michael setting up the house for the attack.
I stood after a minute of adjusting to my eyes. I turned to see Rebekah and Haley sleeping on her bed. I quietly walked and opened the door. I turned and closed the door quickly and quietly. After closing the door, I turned back to see Klaus. "Hello luv" "hello Mr. Mikaelon" I started to walk to the stairs. "Mr. Mikaelon?" Klaus followed me to the kitchen. "What do you want Klaus?" I turned to look at him. He got inches away from me and leaned down "You..." He said in a low voice, my Spine Shivered.
"What?" I looked up at him, he smirked and kissed me. I surprisingly kissed back, I kinda liked it. He was a great kisser. He hands grabbed my waist, pulling me closer to him. Then I felt cold air. I opened my eyes to see, we were in a different room.
Klaus placed me on the bed and started to move to my neck. Bitting and sucking on in. "Klaus..." I moaned, I felt he lips smirk in to my neck. "Yes luv?" "You're... You're an... Vamp-" "it's fine. I wouldn't bit to hard" he said, moving to my collar bone. "Klaus. What... What about your siblings?" I couldn't help but moan. "It'll be fine" he said as I ripped my shirt in two. "Hey! That was one of my favorite tops" I yelled at him. "I'll get you another" he said making his way to my breasts. "Klaus-" "shut. Up." He said, and so I did. He then ripped off my dark purple laced bra. "Cute" he Whispered in my ear as he took off my Jean shorts. "On your knees" he said. I quickly got on my knees and looked up at him.
I have had sex, but never with a vampire. I've only had have sex with other wolves and humans. Never a vampire. Oh boy, was this going to be fun.
Klaus smirked again as he unbuttoned and unzipped his jeans. I could see the bugle in his dark blue boxers. I swallowed, scared of how big it would be. "Go on luv..." He said. I pulled down his boxers to his feet, following where the boxers when. "Look at me Luv" he said, I looked up slowly.
God! It was big. I got wet, as soon as I saw it. I grabbed it with both of my hands, licking the tip. I gulped before bringing it to my mouth. I slowly put his dick into my mouth. I started to bob my head, taking his giant dick into my little mouth. I went slow, getting used to his size. It hitting the back of my throat as I did. He goans filled the air as I continued to bob my head. He grabbed a fist full of my hair, pulling on it lightly, as I bobbed my head. "Yn.... You...you're do...doing great" he moaned. I got wet hearing him said my name. I moan as it hit the back of my throat, again and again.
All of a sudden, I was on the bed. "Be a good girl and dont make a sound" he whispered in my ear. I got EVEN wetter feeling his hot breath in my ear. "I love your panties, but just like your bra, I'll going to get rid of them" he winked. In one moment, cold air replaced where your panties were. "Wet already? And you dont even know me" he smirked. He lowered himself in between my thighs. "So wet" he said before kissing my inner right thigh. "So. Wet." He said as he got closer to my core. He placed his warm tongue in my wet pussy. I bit my bottom lip, holding back moans. I slammed my eyes shut, as he pushed his tongue in and out my body. I bit my lip so hard, I think it started to bleed.
Then, again, in a second, I was on top of Klaus. "Ride me, Luv. Ride me now!" I moves to his dick and slowly shoved it into me. "Ahhhh" I moaned at how big it was. "Ahh" I moaned again, forgetting what Klaus told me. When I was all inside me, I started to bounce. "Ahh, Klaus..." I moaned again, "yes Luv?" Klaus moaned back. "God..." I moaned, not sure what to say. "Why... Why are you... So... So big?" Was the only thing I could think of. "Because I am" he smirked, grabbing my hips. "AhHhHhHhHh" I bit my lip down after that one. It was loud, I think I wake up someone. I didn't know if I really did tho. He moved my hips, helping me bounce on him faster then before.
"Klaus, im gonn....gonna... Cum" I moaned VERY loudly. "Go on luv, Cum on me" he smiled. I moaned VERY VERY VERY LOUDLY that I think Japan heard me. I released on his dick, as he released inside me me. I fall behind him, breathing heavy. "That... Was.... Amazing" I looked at him, "I bet it was" he winked. He pulled me closer to him and grabbed the covers. Placing them on top of both of us.
I hope you enjoyed??? IDK what to put

Fiancée Secert - part 3
Tumblr media
Part 1
Part 2
@deepprincesstraveler requested series. Y/n finally spills the beans to Klaus. Freya reveals the gender of their child.
@wanniiieeee
"Stop lieing Y/n. I can hear a second heartbeat inside you!"
Time seems to stand still feeling his eyes burning into mine. Pressing my hands against the door I mumble out. "Nik..." He growls out jaw clutching. "Why'd you hide it from me!" Closing my eyes pressing them to his chest I blast him backwards so he can't trap me again. He vamps forward grabbing my wrists a little tighter than normal. "Answer me. Why hide the baby!" Ripping a hand from his grasp I slap him across the face flashing my golden eyes sobbing out. "Because I was horrified this would happen. That you were in love with Hayley and not me. That you'd get all mad and say I'd have to raise it on my own. Finally realizing that you just - that I was a fling meaning nothing!"
"So you just assumed I'd treat it horrible. That I'm a monster!" He throws his hands up still enraged. "I never said that. I've never considered you a monster. Nik I'm sorry - sorry that I thought this was the right choice. My heart belonged to you. I couldn't be sure it would belong to this baby - our baby!" My hands drop to rest on my stomach. Tears slipping from my eyes uncontrollably but I feel him wiping them away after holding my face in his hands.
He shows me a loving smile rubbing his thumbs over my cheeks. "My heart and soul belongs to you. You're my heart, Y/n. Our child will be loved...I promise you." My hands grip his jacket smiling before I pull his lips down to mine. He instantly kisses back his hands going to grip my waist. My arms go to his hair combing my fingers through his dirty blonde locks earning a moan from him. We break apart after a few more heated moments.
"I love you, Niklaus Mikaelson." I vow grinning up at him. He rests his forehead to mine, pulling me closer to his chest. "I love you too, Y/n L/n." He pulls away pulling out the ring getting on one knee again. "Now will you become my wife...will you marry me?" Nodding my head excitedly I squeal letting him slip it on my finger. "Yes, yes. Always Nik." He rises planting a kiss to my forehead. "Y/n Mikaelson. Is the sweetest sound I've ever heard."
Months have passed meaning my belly has been growing bigger. Klaus lays beside me on the couch with everyone huddled around Freya who sits with their mothers grimoire in front of her. Chanting a spell I don't recognize one that will allow her to see the baby's gender. I'm only 3 months pregnant so it's early too tell - unless you have a witch sister-in-law.
"I've got it. I know the gender." Freya finally stopped chanting. Everyone else rises in their seats in anticipation. "So what is it?" I trailed off in curiosity. "It's a girl!" Freya grins ear to ear seeing tears falling from my face. Nik's arms hug me gently breathing in my hair. My arms wrapped around his neck giggling happily. Freya comes to hug me. "Congratulations."
Elijah pat's his brother on the back with Rebekah squealing about it being a girl. "Oh my gosh. Y/n you and I have to go shopping for the little princess!" I hug the blonde woman before me overwhelmed with emotions. "It's a date, Becca." Elijah sends everyone out so we can be alone together. "Alright. Let's leave them be for a little while." The girls follow him out the room. "I'll teach her some baseball tricks." Kol spoke playfully swinging around his baseball bat exiting the room.
"How are you feeling, love?" Nik's concerned voice warms my heart, his left hand softly playing with loose strands of my hair. "Scared, excited, tired, all of the above I guess. How about you, Nik?" My right hand runs over his stubbly chin. He stares lovingly into my eyes no longer messing with my locks. "Same as you, honey...but I'm making you a promise. One I intend to never break, always and forever."
He pulls my lips to his slowly drawing in for a kiss. I kissed him gently resting my left hand to his cheek until we break apart. "I love you, Y/n my wife and I'll love this child beyond any doubt." Smiling I intertwine my left hand with his looking to our matching wedding rings. "And I shall love you, always and forever. Klaus Mikaelson, my hybrid husband." He wraps his arms around my belly feeling me snuggle in for some cuddle time.

Title- 'Centuries of waiting' part 2
Warnings: Fluff, shitty older brother, Jealous!Hayley, some angst
Summary: Klaus has murder on his mind, Y/N tells how she ended up with the Elite, Elijah just wants to spoil and love on his soulmate.
A/N: Dudes I got it a little angsty between Elijah and Hayley. This is what I get for listening to 'Battlefield' by Lea Michele while writing.
Morning sunlight shined though Elijah's bedroom window waking him up and found you asleep on top of him. This made him smile glad you were comfortable with him as if you had been with him forever. Elijah ran his fingers down your back as you nuzzled his neck feeling comfort settled over the bond.
"Elijah." You muttered sleepily as Elijah smiled kissing your head feeling you shift on his chest only to roll off onto the bed making him smile. While Elijah wondered how you ended up with the Elite but he didn't rush to push to tell him as he was focused on your needs at the moment.
"Morning beautiful." Elijah said cupping your cheek smiling when you hid your blushing face in a pillow. Elijah chuckled leaning over pressing kisses on your neck as he tried to not flood the bond with adoration and love as to not to overwhelm you.
"Goodmorning." You muttered as Elijah gently urged you out of bed. You yawned getting up only to be picked up by Elijah and taken to the bathroom. You were surprised with how soft Elijah was with you as he was far from the stories the Elite told.
"Something on your mind, little heart?" Elijah asked softly brushing your hair from your face pulling you from your thoughts.
"It isn't nothing to worry about....you are just really different from the stories the Elite told." You answered Elijah as he frowned and looked at you when you reached up cupping his face.
"You don't scare me, Elijah. Because if you really the monster they say I shouldn't be alive." You tell your soulmate softly as Elijah leaned down to kiss you while you both flooded the bond with 'I love you.'.
"Breakfast is ready, Elijah." Hayley said crossing her arms still not liking how Elijah seemly had completely trusted the fact you were his soulmate.
"Sleep well Elijah?" Caroline asked with a smirk on her face watching Elijah once again pulling you into his lap. Elijah chuckled knowing what the blonde vampire was asking as he rubbed your side.
"I'm giving her a chance to get use to this first Caroline." Elijah said making the blonde giggle as you blinked looking at Elijah who just smiled at you kissing your nose.
"Goodmorning all." Klaus said smirking as he walked into the kitchen stealing a quick kiss from Caroline. Elijah raised an eyebrow noting the smirk and looked at Rebekah who noticed too.
"Have plans for today Niklaus?" Elijah asked stealing a grape off your fork making you pout but an idea popped in your head and began to feed Elijah some of your fruit salad.
"Yes. Murder." Klaus said as his smirk darken as he sat down looking at you getting a low growl from Elijah as his hold on you tighten making you look at Elijah comforting him through the bond.
"Niklaus."
"No need to worry brother. I was thinking your little soulmate goes out spend the day with the girls while we plot the death of the Elite." Klaus says leaning back against the chair as Elijah calmed down opening his mouth as you fed him a piece of melon.
"What about the first Sired?"
"They are no worry as of right now Hayley." Klaus says as he was itching to kill those that harmed you. You were family now so those that hurt you will meet his rage. You smiled feeding Elijah another grape which he happily took eyes twinkling with joy.
"Will you be okay?" You asked toying with the pendant of the Mikaelson Crest Elijah had gifted you. Elijah was making sure you were ready for your outing with the girls.
"Don't worry about me, little heart. Buy whatever you want." Elijah tells you handing you his credit card as he kissed your forehead. You blushed knowing Elijah wanted to spoil you again. You said a goodbye to Elijah then hurried to Rebekah's side.
"So Y/N were did you come from?" Hayley asked watching you as you blinked trying to remember since you had been with the Elite for a long while. It also didn't help the Elite would compel you and others for complete control.
"New York....I was a ballerina." You answered Hayley trying really hard to remember as Caroline stepped next to you smiling softly.
"Hey don't worry about not remembering right now. We have a dress to get you." Caroline says looping her arm with yours with Rebekah on the other side of you smiling also. The four of you had bought some nice dresses and some shoes more so Rebekah and Caroline was going to help you pick out a gorgeous dress for the Strix party Elijah was invited to.
"How did you end up with the Elite?" Hayley asked you watching you stop looking though dresses and put your head down. Rebekah was by your side in a blink of an eye seeing you shake and Caroline rubbed your back seeing tears fall down your face.
".....my older brother......sold me to them." You said as the memories came flooding back and your tears wouldn't stop.
"Once he found out I was a soulmate to an Original....he knew he could pay off his debts." You said shivering remembering how the leader of the Elite looked at you like you were a piece of meat. You also remember how your brother was okay with selling you off.
"How about we get you home." Caroline said softly as she lead you out of the store and Rebekah pays for your dress while Hayley felt a little guilty for bringing it up. Once back at the compound you surprised Elijah by climbing into his lap and buried your face in his neck your tears wetting the collar of his shirt.
"Baby?" Elijah asked softly as he wrapped his arms around you searching the bond for answers but only felt an overwhelming sadness and fear. So Elijah listen to Rebekah and Caroline explain to Klaus on why you were acting like this.
"Elijah?" Hayley said softly a moment later seeing that the Original hadn't moved from his chair as you had fell asleep against him. Elijah looked at her then focused his attention back on you, he had removed your heels and wrapped you in a blanket.
"Why are you pushing her away? Is it because she is my soulmate?" Elijah asked Hayley as the female hybrid crossed her arms.
"I just think you are rushing to fast on wanting it to be true."
"You don't believe that she is. Even though Freya said the bond was real." Elijah said freezing when you shifted then relaxed when you settled against his chest.
"Elijah, don't you find it a little suspicious that she shows up right when the Sired did?"
"No. The Elite had been in New Orleans longer than the Sired had from what Marceltold us." Elijah said as he stood up hold you bridal style. Elijah looked at Hayley.
"I loved you that I cannot deny Hayley but choose to marry Jackson. So if you really did love me you would have fought for us now allow me this happiness." Elijah said walking past her pausing at the door away.
"Maybe in a different life we could have loved one another. But I want to be happy Hayley and not waiting on what ifs." Elijah said softly before walking away not seeing the tear roll down Hayley's cheek.
You woke seeing it was dark out and felt Elijah pulling you back against his chest letting you roll over.
"I am sorry for earlier."
"It is fine little heart. You are still adjusting to this and the bond." Elijah says softly running his fingers through your hair.
"But....."
"No buts. The compulsion you were under us coming undone due to our bond. Hayley should have been more careful when asking about your past."
"Oh....were you two a thing?" You asked as you saw how Hayley would look at Elijah. It made you feel a little insecure but you felt Elijah flood the bond with love.
"We were but she married another. I loved her deeply I had gave up looking for you believing that I didn't have a soulmate."
"But when I felt you reach out that spark love lit with in me so I started searching for you. Hayley thought it was witches messing with me but when the auction came and I saw you....I just knew and all I wanted was you."
You looked at Elijah eyes tearing up leaning in kissing him softly and Elijah responded to the kiss right away. You squeaked as he lifted you placing you on top of him and your hands were on his chest.
"Elijah." You whispered sounding a bit whiny as Elijah pulled you down kissing you again. His hands were on your hips moving under your skirt as you both got more needy with your kisses and clothes went flying.
"I love you Elijah."
"I love you too my little heart." Elijah says softly drowning his self in your touch knowing he wasn't going to let you go.

I have a prompt for you if you can. Not sure if you watch Legacies, there’s an episode where Lizzie makes a wish to a Jinn that Hope is never born. In this alternate universe, Lizzie won the Merge, Klaus flipped his switch 2 years ago in grief and started a war with the humans leading to Triad publicly hunting all supernaturals. Enemy #1 is Klaus and his vampire wife Caroline Mikaelson. I’d like to see a Klaroline fic of this AU please.
Prompt part 2. I have some personal thoughts on this alternative universe but itS totally up to you if you go with them or if you come up with your own. No Hope means no Hayley, means no Elijah dying. So why was Klaus grieving? No Hope means back in TVD S4 the witches had no way of luring him to NO so he stayed in MF eventually wearing Caroline down into a relationship. Josie and Lizzie were like his daughters and when they merged he and Caroline both flipped the switch in grief of Josie.
 Tears Will Never Dry (angsty)
“I failed them.” Her voice was so small and defeated. Curled up as she was in the armchair, Caroline looked blankly out the window. Though she had a perfect view of Bonnie talking through some witchy herbs with a despondent Lizzie out in the courtyard, her eyes didn’t seem to register. It was like she wasn’t even there.
Klaus, who once proudly professed he had no heart, felt something break inside him for he knew nothing could truly comfort her. He had failed her. So he offered what little he could, what he held onto when she was so far away. “You love them so completely, you could never fail them,” he vowed, and he’d never meant something so much. It took all his strength not to pull her into his arms, to close the distance she wrapped around herself so tightly. “You will help Lizzie through this, and—” The lump in his throat made it hard to speak, not that he could bring himself to say the name she cried in her sleep. “—you loved her to the end.”
Tears trickled down her crumpled face. “It’s not supposed to happen that way,” she croaked. “Mom and Dad loved me to the end, too. Their ends. Now, I have to live with her being gone. Forever.”
It used to be a promise between them, sweet and tempting; on her tongue, the word sounded sour. Helpless and desperate, Klaus kneeled  at her feet. He pressed his mouth to her knee, hands wrapped around her legs like a lifeline. “Tell me what I can do. Please, sweetheart. Let me help.”
Blinking down at him, she let her fingers card through his hair. Her smile was sad, apologetic. “It just hurts so much.”
And he knew it was too late.
The club was a dangerous idea. They were meant to be in hiding, and it defied sense to flaunt their return to New Orleans in a favorite haunt. But the girls were having fun, and Klaus was loathe to break up the party with sense.
He was tucked into the quietest corner of the VIP lounge, high above the din. Lizzie and Caroline, meanwhile, danced in the crush of the crowd, the pounding beat far too much for even a vampire’s ears. They laughed as they bumped into each other, and a smile curled his lips. It was good to be home.
Their little family was still grieving Josie’s loss after two years, each in their own way. Caroline preferred enjoying the lighter side of life, aided by a lack of human sensibilities. Lizzie alternated between reveling in her magic and loathing it for the too dear cost, just as she hated her mother for flipping the switch and loved having her as more of a friend. Klaus...
Klaus was just trying to keep the game interesting.
“Careful, friend,” Marcel warned, offering him a fresh drink as he dropped into the next chair. “Your humanity is showing.”
“She’s not paying me any mind, we can speak freely.” He turned to his old friend, a son that was lost and found, then lost and found again. How he wished he could grant such a miracle to Caroline. “Tell me about Triad.”
Clenching his glass, Marcel looked grim. “My nightwalkers keep disappearing, and even the ones with the GIft,” he murmured with laden meaning, since vampires had learned to hoard the secret of lapis lazuli and the safety it provided, “have mentioned being followed. Davina hasn’t risen far in the ranks of the organization yet, but she thinks a big move is in the works.”
He grit his teeth. “And?”
“The ‘vampire wife’ is whispered around the place. Often.”
It was a fight to loosen the tension in his body, but a necessary one. He raised a toast to Caroline, who tried to coax him out to the dance floor. He shook his head, charming enough so as not to rouse her suspicion. “I assume a kidnapping then.”
“At the least,” Marcel agreed. “Whether they want information from her or to use her against you, torture is to be expected. The switch might be a benefit to her if it comes to that—”
"It won't." His tone was final, even as he held his smirk. The ladies were too busy laughing off those bold men trying to dance with them to read him from afar. "She's been through enough."
Noticeably quiet, Marcel just sipped his drink.
“What, Marcellus?” Klaus bit out.
With a measured glance toward him, he shrugged. “The switch... She’s not really going through anything, and she hasn’t for years now. And thinking you’ve flipped yours, too? You’ve created a comfortable little world for her to avoid the pain, maintaining it to keep her safe without her knowing. What happens when the illusion shatters?”
He gave a careless flip of his hand. “She can’t turn it off twice.”
“If you say so.”
It wasn’t a new argument to Klaus, not when Stefan, Bonnie, Elijah — even Rebekah — had implored him to rethink his grand strategy for Caroline to party away the worst of her pain. At the very least, he could be honest about his own, relatively intact humanity. Instead, he let her enjoy the lighter side of life without tempting a worse outcome should she feel the need to punish him for trying to fix her. After all, she’d done much the same when her mother died.
The subterfuge was messy but necessary, especially with credible threats against her in this war the humans insist upon waging. His ear was attuned to the array of heartbeats throughout the club, the loud music not enough to dull his hybrid senses. Vampires had a slow, dull throb when compared to the hearty pound of a werewolf, not that they’d find themselves in the Abattoir without some pressing business that was sure to involve him. Same with the witches, and only Lizzie’s let out the fast-paced thrum of both full blood and magic.
Humans, though, they seemed to be threading in from the edges of the crowd — and aiming for the blondes at the center. Feeling the world slow around him, Klaus launched himself down from the balcony, mindless to the vampires hurrying to get everyone out of his way. None of them caught the true danger, however, until the strobe light caught on the wooden stakes being pulled from jackets.
Klaus managed to snap three necks before they got close, but Caroline was too busy blocking access to Lizzie to notice the woman stretching a strong arm toward her. Feeling like he was underwater, he watched as Lizzie’s fear overwhelmed her, and the hand grasped around her mother’s wrist glowed red. Pain seemed to lance through Caroline, and she lost her focus to fend off the attack she still hadn’t seen coming.
The familiar scent of her blood filled the air, and all Klaus could see was red.
Later, he would confirm that the scratch down Caroline’s back healed perfectly, that she’d survived the bold offensive he hadn’t stopped. Even later than that, he would acknowledge his plan had been far from perfect, without even the veneer of success to defend it when her humanity was eventually restored.
But in the moment, the thought of losing her to his own carelessness was too much. Clearly, holding onto his humanity wasn’t working the way he’d envisioned; in fact, his rage at the sight of a stake piercing her skin felt like a liability. He processed this in the span of a second, and by the time the human’s bloody head hit the dance floor, his decision had been made.
The world already saw him as a ruthless monster. He might as well give it to them, and he’d make them bleed for daring to harm her. He didn’t need his humanity for that.
With his fangs bared and blood dripping from his hand, he certainly looked the part. When Caroline met his eyes, however, something must have alerted her to the change. Having torn the stake from her back and moved Lizzie to the safe space between them, her head tilted to the side as she appraised him with a new appreciation. She gave a sharp grin of joy and arousal, her tongue slipping from beneath her fangs to wet the corner of her lips. “It’s about time.”

Between (Fred Weasley x Slytherin Reader!) Part 1
Tumblr media
PART 2
Synopsis: Y/N Y/L/N never quite understood why all these things always happen to her. Nobody understood why she was put in Slytherin. But in her fifth year at Hogwarts, many things were cleared up. Your parents, your friends and also, that one should not be named, all these things explained the why. Her blood was stained, but she could not disagree more with the philosophies that made it like this. Between blood and love. Y/N had to make a choice.
Warnings: agnsty; mentions of death; sad reader.
Reader: Female
Words Count: 1.5k
Author's Notes: Am I doing my first imagine? You bet I am. This plot was from a fiction that I wrote on wattpad, but I decided to turn it into a imagine here on tumblr. The  idea of this imagine is that it has some chapters, so if you want to be taged in the next chapters, comment "i solemnly swear that i am up to no good" here. Also, and also, the names of your family members are fixed. So let's go to the history.
It was a rainy sunday morning at the Y/L/N family mansion. The house was known to many in the magical world. There had never been an owner who was not a family wizard, the mansion was always passed down from generation to generation, there is no Y/L/N who had not lived under this enormous roof. It is a typical English mansion, made of stones in dark brown tones, with three floors (visible to the naked eye, at least), small trees symmetrically cut to follow the same straight lines as the mansion, filled the front garden and, a considerably large staircase leading up to the huge entrance door. Y/N never really liked the place, she thought it was too big and not very welcoming, especially now. As much as the house was always full of relatives and employees, to the girl it always seemed very empty.
Y/N grew up inside the Y/L/N mansion, along with all her family members who lived there, she detested most of them, especially her parents. They had an obsession with blood purity and maintaining the family's reputation. She did not agree at all with the philosophy of her parents, and the rest of the family. The only person she had ever been able to talk to, the only person who really understood her, was her paternal grandmother. Harriet Y/L/N was a very friendly lady, with a wide nose and a small smile, very delicate blue eyes. Mrs. Harriet, or as she likes to be called, Grandma Harriet, did not match the layout of the mansion. She was always wearing loose white clothes and a witch hat adapted for those who care for plants, Y/N reminded of the hat that Professor Sprout wore. Everyone in the house always saw Grandma Harriet as a basketcase, thought she was crazy, but Y/N always thought she was the wisest person in the family.
Despite the presence of her grandmother, the year that ended was not easy for Y/N. She had finished her fourth year at Hogwarts, together with the Triwizard Tournament, and also with Cedric Diggory, who was to be her best friend. After the unfortunate event, the information that the Dark Lord had returned came as a bonus. Many said that Harry Potter was lying and that Dumbledore had gone mad. How Y/N wanted these people to be right. She, more than anyone, knew that the Dark Lord had indeed returned, and her family ... She would rather not even think about it. All the girl did during the winter break was to advance reading the fifth year books, so she could even for a moment forget everything that happened and everything that was going to happen. He exchanged letters with his friends too, including Draco Malfoy. Draco's family was very friendly with Y/N's family, as they shared the same ideals. Although Y/N thought completely different from Draco, the two had a great friendship. They were in the same house at Hogwarts, they were the same age, and despite their regrets, they had a good laugh together when it came to making fun of teachers.
- Daughter, dinner is ready. - Said Eva, her mother, when opening the door to her room.
Y/N was lying on her bed reading a letter she would receive from Draco in a few minutes. The boy was just saying that he was about to go crazy, as the climate inside his house was getting heavier and heavier. Y/N knew, and so did Draco, where all of this was going to take him, all these meetings at the Malfoys' house, was not a good thing.
- Letter from whom? - Asked his mother entering the room.
- Draco - Y/N replied without taking her eyes off the letter.
- Draco? I like his family a lot, I'm glad you are friends, he ... - Said the woman standing in front of him looking directly at a photo in which Y/N was with Hermione Granger. She hated the fact that her daughter was a friend of a mudblood. - It's a good influence for you.
- Yeah, I agree with half of what you said - Y/N said finally looking at her mother, with a sinus smile on her face.
The rest of the night spent slowly at the Y/L/N house. Y/N couldn't bear to hear the prejudiced comments from Klaus and Hanz, her uncles. Usually whenever the girl thought about saying something, her mother looked at her with an explicit disapproving look. But lately, even that the girl was not doing, she was quiet, something in her will fade. Since Cedric died she had not argued once with her uncles and cousins, which was the custom for a girl. Everyone had noticed the difference, but no one dared to say anything, they preferred it that way.
At the dinner table her father, Petrus, commented on the change in the Hogwarts faculty, that Dumbledore was a scum, that it was absurd that no one had done anything about it yet. Nothing new to everyone at the table. As soon as dinner was over, everyone went to their corner of the house, and before Y/N could go up to her room with a jar of caramels, the doorbell rang. As she was closer to the door, she went to answer it before Pugsley, one of the mansion's house elves, did so.
- Okay Pugsley, I tell my dad that you were busy polishing his shoes, he won't be bothered by that, will he? - The girl laughed.
- Thank you my mistress - The elf smiled making a short bow - You are the cool soul of this house.
- Coolest, Pusgley, coolest soul of this house. We need to improve your vocabulary huh, I'll help you later. Now, I need to answer before someone sees us, you better go.
And so the Elf went to enjoy the rest of the night somewhere, until he was asked again.
Y/N opened the door and was surprised, she just couldn't tell if it was good or bad. In front of him were Lucio, Narcissa and none other than Draco Malfoy. The girl smiled when she saw the boy.
- Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy, what a surprise to see you. - He smiled politely at the couple in front of him, pretending the best he can. - Draco - He nodded and gave a half smile. - Come on in - Y/N gave the couple and their son a ticket to their mansion.
- Very good to see you Y/N, you are more beautiful every day - Narcissa said sympathetically.
Lucio was about to say something to Y/N when Petrus arrived against the couple, greeting them like the great friends they are. If the friendship of the two families was not based on horrible concepts, they would even look like nice people. Draco's parents were accompanied by Y/N's parents to the living room to talk. The boy stayed behind with Y/N.
- Hey. How are you? - Draco said with a loose smile on his face, he knew his friend was not doing well.
Y/N didn't say a word, just indicated for stairs and the two went up to the girl's room. Once there, Y/N closed the door and simply burst into tears while hugging his friend. She had been holding them for almost a month. Draco could be insensitive to many people, but with Y/N it was different, he really cared about the girl. As much as he didn't like her friends, including Cedric, he would never deny her a hug of comfort. And deep down, even though he didn't want to admit it, Draco wanted that hug to last forever.
While Draco and Y/N were in an affectionate and personal moment up the stairs, their parents had other plans for this meeting.
- So you really saw him, Lucio? Petrus asked the blond man in front of him, pouring him a glass of whiskey.
- Yes, he is stronger than ever, he thanked me for being one of the only ones to be on his side, it was an honor - Lucio replied, even though he knew it had not been so.
- Merlin! It must have been wonderful - Eva said with a smile on her face.
- And as it was, finally after years of waiting he finally came back. I can't stand to see Hogwarts in that state anymore, full of ... wizards of an impure lineage. Teaching that we can mix, what will become of our race in this way? - Lucio commented with disgust in his voice.
- Don't even tell me, every day I have more problems with Y/N, she insists that we can mix with these people. But I know she says it out loud, we created it so well, it's just a phase - Eva said, wanting to believe her own words.
- When the time comes, she'll have to make a choice, you know that don't you, Petrus? - Said Narcissa sitting like a lady on the dark sofa in front of the fireplace.
- Yes. And certainly she chose the family, I have no doubt that she will be a great diner - Firmed Petrus.
The truth is that none of the four adults there believed in it very much, but none of them would have the audacity to speak out loud, that perhaps, when the time came, Y/N would be a traitor to her own blood.

A Very Mikaelson Christmas:
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I know, it's been forever but I've really just been relaxing and taking care of myself the past couple of months but to all my readers for "Black Roses" I DID NOT FORGET ABOUT THE STORY! I will update as soon as possible and I miss it as much as you all do.
This is part 2 to chapter 10 of my klaroline family drabbles: Meeting the Mikaelsons, and occurs before the merge storyline. Link to my ff page can be found here and at the bottom so PLEASE leave a review!
Happy reading :)
"Alright let's go through the list:" Caroline began checking off her clipboard. "Elijah and Freya are on food duty. Marcel is taking care of music, Josie's bake goods are in the oven, Hope and Hayley are finishing the tree and other interior decorations while Kol and Alaric string up the lights outside. Did I miss anything?"
"Yes, like an explanation for why we are doing all of this tedious work when we could have simply hired professionals?" Rebekah blurted from her chair.
Caroline pointed a fake smile at the blonde Original who was casually sipping on a glass of spiked egg nog.
Given that this was the biggest Christmas party she's ever hosted, Caroline tried not to stress too much even over incompetence. This was a joyous time and was determined to make it special. Being an only child with just her mom Caroline never partook in grand holiday gatherings and now, she had two families coming together for the very first time.
"I knew I forgot something, Rebekah you're on table duty." Caroline ordered.
"The hell I am." She snorted before drinking from her glass again.
The baby vampire breathed in and out through her nose to refrain from her fangs latching onto an 1,000 year old being's jugular.
In an attempt to make everything perfect for tonight, Caroline created a schedule of tasks for all the family members to obey, and hers was making sure everyone followed through with their tasks—she didn't count on confronting prissy Mikaelson behavior.
Over a thousand years of existence and they all acted like they never heard of basic chores.
"Last I checked you're apart of this family too which means you have to assist in some way. You can't just drink liquor all day." Caroline scolded.
"Actually I've been doing that just fine, thank you very much." Rebekah grinned raising her glass to the aggravated blonde. "Not to mention I've spent all morning searching for those impossible snowflake place settings you so desperately desired. You're welcome by the way. So from where I'm seated I've done my part."
"If we're being technical, all you did was pick out the pattern from the comfort of her bed while I was the one who actually had to hunt them down." Klaus announced walking into the room, making Caroline exhale into a smile.
She was relieved and happy to see him, not just because she missed his handsome face but because he was the only one capable of talking Rebekah down.
Despite the minor difficulties, Caroline was grateful the girls insisted on bringing thievery one together this year to celebrate Christmas as a family.
Kol flew in from California the night prior, around the same time Rebekah arrived from New York City on her private jet. Alaric had last minute paperwork to finish before handing over the keys of the school to his right-hand-man, Dorian, for remainder of the break—he drove out early that morning, alone.
Alaric finally accepting Klaus as a permanent factor in both Caroline and the girls' lives made their complex situation more graceful.
"I hardly see how that's relevant." Rebekah retorted with an eye roll, amusing her dimpled face brother walking up behind the chair to place his hands on her slumped shoulders.
"It's relevant, little sister, because you haven't lifted a finger since you've been here. This is a family day which means everyone is pitching in, no matter how much we may not want to. You're no exception here. I assure you arranging a few place settings on the table won't break a nail."
She shoved him off. "Oh please, as if you actually care about the holidays when you haven't spent one with us since Hope was wobbling around in bloody diapers."
"Rebekah—"
"You know Nik, It's okay to admit you're only agreeing to such humiliating labor to impress your precious baby vampire. We all already know the truth." She teased, smirking while finishing off her drink. The expression in her eyes could easily get under anyone's skin.
Caroline pressed her lips into a tight line, already sensing Klaus' annoyance beside her.
After all these years of being in Klaus' life—in some capacity—she figured the vindictive Original would have warmed up to her by now.
Obviously, not so much.
"Damnit Rebekah, stop being a brat and just fetch the bloody plate settings." Klaus groaned impatiently.
He shook his head when she childishly stuck her tongue out at him before standing to make her exit towards the kitchen.
"Where are those bloody daggers when I need them?"
Caroline sighed exasperatedly when placing her clipboard on the piano. "Oddly enough, that doesn't sound too bad. I'll forever deny that I ever condoned that."
Klaus laughed under his breath. "Your secret's safe with me."
The blonde's white teeth nibbled on her rose colored bottom lip. Both hands fisted into his black buttoned-down shirt, fingertips teasing the exposed necklaces before she leaned on her tiptoes for a quick but lingering kiss. Lips barely tasting the other before slowly parting, foreheads resting against each other's for a few peaceful seconds.
"Hi." She smiled.
"Hi." He smiled back while tucking her hair behind her ears. "I don't like seeing you stressed."
"Then you're completely unaware of what it's like to have a conversation with you." She teased, kissing his pouty lip sweetly. "But if you were any different I wouldn't want you."
"And what a shame that would be."
Their lips pecked against each other's again before Caroline let out a deep exhale, looking over their Winter wonderland home to see what else needed to be done—there was quite a bit.
"You're still stressing." Klaus said when observing the stress line in her forehead.
Caroline scoffed turning to face him. "Uh, yeah! The tree is only half done, the outdoor lights are probably just slapped on like a pile of meat and did you not just see me pulling teeth just to get your sister to set a damn table!"
He chuckled to himself, kissing her wrinkled forehead and rubbing her arms to calm her.
"Rebekah is the laziest vampire I've ever known and I'm sorry about her behavior but love, she had point. We could've hired professionals to do all of the decorating and cooking in half the time. I have excellent recommendations from our last gathering. Money wouldn't have been an issue if that's what you were worrying about."
"Seriously? Do Mikaelsons know nothing about traditions?" She scoffed.
"Actually no, we don't. To be fair me and my siblings only began liking one another two years ago."
Caroline's lips pursed as she pushed his hands off of her. "This had nothing to do with money, and this isn't just any Christmas, it's our first Christmas with everyone home together and I wanted all of us to embrace all the holiday traditions as a family. Which includes forcing in-laws to do basic household tasks like decorating a damn tree."
"In-laws?" Klaus smirked.
Caroline's cheeks slightly reddened as she accessed the weight of her words. Her sweaty palms rubbed up and down her burgundy bodycon dress hastily.
"Shut up..." She mumbled, slapping his chest when his smirk grew.
"Look, Klaus I may not have grown up with a huge family but I did have a lot of friends who took that place. We decorated trees, hung lights, ate dinner together, drank more alcohol than legally allowed and enjoyed each other's company." She explained somberly. "They stopped me from feeling lonely every year and I always said when I had a family of my own those traditions wouldn't die, and now I do..."
The corners of Klaus's lips turned up into a soft grin at her shy doe blue eyes staring up at him through her thick lashes.
Klaus stepped forward, grabbing her by the hips. "I like this."
"What, my distress or me bossing you around?" She teased relaxing into his hold around her waist.
"You being in my family." He clarified. "I like that you're mine and hearing you consider this your home. You'll never be alone, love and I'm very much looking forward to many, many more Christmases to come with all the ridiculous traditions attached."
A warm smile made its way to her face as she observed the genuine contentment on his.
It was just as surreal for her too, but for Klaus to go centuries spending every holiday alone to now sharing it with an entire family, she knew how much these moments meant to him. But she was just as eager to spend the rest of eternity with him too.
Her hands reached up to his face to bring him in for a quick but effective kiss
She moaned into his mouth when he unexpectedly gripped her sides, tongues brushing as they stole a few more of these rare moments.
They were both dazed as Caroline pulled away.
"Thank you. I guess I'm kinda into you." She smiled while wiping her lipstick off his bottom lip with her thumb.
Klaus responded with another kiss, this one more urgent and than the last. His hand placements more determined and certain as squeezed her hips, riding up the skirt of her burgundy dress.
Caroline giggled against his lips.
"Nope. We can't right now..." She whispered, trying to show some restraint inspire of her body's craving.
"Come now love, I haven't had a second alone with you all day. Indulge me." He persisted, pulling her closer against his hard chest.
"There's still so much to do..." Her defenses slowly falling.
"That'll all get done momentarily. Besides, we are currently standing underneath a mistletoe. We must comply with all holiday traditions. Isn't that what you said?"
Caroline appeared slightly bewildered when looking up at the festive plant hanging over them, not remembering hanging it up there before peering down at her smirking hybrid. The inner conflict roaming in her head already a thing of the past when her hungry eyes made contact with his full bottom lip.
"Rules are rules." She agreed breathlessly, her arms now wrapped around his neck she happily succumbed to the surrender.
Not beating his tongue from invading her mouth and fingers scrunching up her dress as the oral exchange deepened into a more passionate frenzy.
Her sexual appetite no better than his, especially when being deprived of each other for longer than 10 minutes.
"Oh for fuck sake! Would you two get a room already?"
With a low groan, the couple detached their lips but remained wrapped in each other's arms despite Kol's rude interruption.
"Certainly. Every room in this house belongs to me after all." Klaus announced.
Kol tilted his head with a smile, leaning against the living room's wall with a glass of liquor in his hand and ankles crossed.
"I'm no prude and usually would be helping myself to the view of your public display of affection, however, someone has to save my precious nieces from the emotional scarring." He claimed. "Not to mention, I've been tortured enough today from hanging bloody Christmas lights with that moronic human all day. Last thing I need is a floor show featuring Caroline where I'm not participating."
The blonde's cheeks suddenly a deeper shade of blush pink while she held Klaus back by his chest.
"Say anything even remotely offensive towards her again and I'll rip out your heart through your throat. Understood?"
The younger Mikaelson grin spread menacingly at the beading gold hue in Klaus' eyes.
"Is it a proper Mikaelson gathering without a few death threats? Happy holidays to you too, brother." Kol lifted his glass to the couple before skipping out the room.
"Remind me to snap his neck while he's sleeping tonight." Klaus groaned.
"I don't get why you're still bothered by his remarks after all these years. You know how he is and how much he loves getting under your skin because you make it so easy. He's harmless."
"More like a pest." He scoffed. "And his habitual inappropriate comments towards you doesn't make it right Caroline and quite frankly, I'm over it. Why did you to invite him anyways?"
She raised an eyebrow. "Because I invited the entire family and last I checked he's your baby brother, who you've missed more than you want to admit."
"Debatable." Klaus muttered, causing Caroline to laugh as she trapped his lips with hers for a sweet kiss.
"Better?"
He smirked against her lips. "With you? Always."
Playfully rolling her eyes, she twirled away from his greedy hands.
"And speaking of the girls Lizzie just texted that she and Sebastian are about ten minutes away." Caroline informed, deflating Klaus' smile.
"Yes, how could I forget we allowed our naive 17 year old daughter to go on a solo road trip with a boy three centuries older than her." Klaus muttered.
"She's not alone."
His eyes narrowed at her teasing tone. "Caroline."
She giggled, fixing the collar of his shirt. "Lighten up. I thought we talked about this. You said you were going to stand down as overprotective dad when it came to the girls love lives."
"They're only 17 and 18 years old. They're not allowed to have love lives, especially with boys as old as I am." Klaus scolded.
"Weren't you the one who was more than thrilled to agree to Sebastian spending Christmas here?"
Klaus' face scrunched. " 'Thrilled' is a bit of a reach, love. More like you and Lizzie ambushed me with the invitation. I'd agree to anything for her to be here even if it meant agreeing to undesirables staying in my home."
The baby vampire's eyes narrowed. "Don't you think you're being a bit dramatic?"
"Dramatic?" His eyes widened. "Caroline, this ancient boy popped out of nowhere. Has shown a sudden interest in our very young and vulnerable daughter after knowing her for what, a few days? And has her so mind-warped he even managed to convince her to let him spend the bloody holidays in our family sanctuary. He's a stranger to all of us, so forgive me for being a bit skeptical."
Letting go of his collar Caroline took a step back, letting out a loud huff as she combed her fingers through her golden tresses frustratingly.
"If I say something you don't like, promise you won't throw a fit and ruin Christmas?"
"You think I'm being paranoid." He concluded for her.
She nodded while crossing her arms. "Yes, and unreasonable, and a bit of an ass."
"An ass?" His eyebrow quirked up.
"Very much so. Babe, I love you. I know you have nothing but good intentions when it comes to the girls but you need to stop. You have to trust them."
"I do. I've told you multiple times that was never the issue Caroline and you know it. Can't believe you're still insinuating otherwise." He barked.
"Seriously?" She scoffed. "Klaus look how you're reacting right now. It's Christmas! We're supposed to be cheerful and loving towards each other, not insulting and yelling. You try chalking up this behavior to being an overprotective parent but it's more than that. Deep down you don't trust that Lizzie can handle herself."
"You know that's not true." He claimed defensively.
"When you describe her as 'vulnerable' and 'naive' it sorta weakens your claim. It makes me feel like you don't trust me either when I keep reassuring you that everything's fine."
Klaus' features softened as he observed the clear irritation and concern on her face. The wrinkle in her forehead that swigged out whenever they argued shined in all its adorable glory, but for the first time he wasn't delighted to see it.
There was no one in the world he trusted more.
"Car-"
She raised her hand when he tried to step towards her.
"You're an amazing father Klaus, the best even. 90% of the time you're everything they need, and I try to not be jealous about it." Caroline confessed. "But that 10% is for who they are as young women, the parts of themselves they're not comfortable sharing with you. That's where I step in and give them all the advice you can't, like boys and hormones. Hard to believe but there are some things even Klaus Mikaelson isn't an expert on."
Klaus swallowed, feeling more guilty and ridiculous by the second despite Caroline's attempt at lightening the situation with a smile.
"Lizzie is doing good. She's stable and happy for the first time in so long and has no interests of messing up her progress. I know you worry and want to protect her but if she's ever going to be the free-spirited adventurer you always imagined her to be, you have to let her grow on her own. Let her make mistakes and be as normal of a teenager as she can. Believe me when I say nothing ruins the relationship between a father and daughter more than telling her she can't see the boy she likes."
Klaus winced imagining his bond with Lizzie being served over something as irrelevant as a stupid vampire boy.
Being in control of all aspects of his life was how he refrained from completely losing his mind. He was a leader, King of the French Quarter kingdom but these weren't his hybrid soldiers he could command—they were his family.
He nearly lost one daughter for not being there when she needed him, he couldn't make that same mistake with another—no matter the intentions.
"Bloody hell..." he groaned, tugging at his curls. "I've been a proper prick, haven't I?"
Caroline's eyes shifted upwards, pretending to ponder. "Only a little." She said while making Klaus lightly chuckle under his breath.
Biting her bottom lip she cautiously stepped towards him.
"We're not welcoming him into the family, just getting to know him. He makes Lizzie happy so we owe it to her to at least give him a chance." She said, grabbing his hands into hers and caressing the base with her thumb, feeling all the built up tension slowly being released from his body and the situation.
He tilted her chin up, making her crystallized blues peer into his. Her hands rested on his biceps while his free one tightly wrapped around her waist.
"I do trust you, more than anyone. Please tell me you know that." Klaus desperately pleaded.
Her eyes wandered his worried face and heart ached at his desperate tone.
Over the course of their relationship Caroline felt she had to jump through multiple hoops to smother Klaus with reassurance. Deep down she understood his insecurities about their relationship—if she was confident in choosing him and not hating herself for it—but she had some of her own as well, especially when it came to being a good mother.
Caroline slowly nodded.
"I know, but it's nice to hear you say it too." A soft smile made its way to her face.
Her arms circled around him before pulling her hybrid in for a kiss that dissipated the claustrophobic tension.
Klaus squeezed her hips as the kiss transitioned from languidly and slow to passionate and purposeful.
Their lips, warm and soft as they exhaled into each other's mouths. Standing underneath the mistletoe without a care in the world of who in their nosey family could walk in on them.
They were each other's last eternal love and were not going to hide it from anyone—especially during the happiest time of the year.
Caroline gripped his biceps again, softly moaning as she opened her mouth to him and Klaus was all too eager to comply to the request.
Ring. Ring. Ring.
The doorbell rang before their tongues could even touch.
"Ignore it." Klaus groaned while going in for another kiss.
"We can't just ignore the door." She weakly retorted as their lips hovered.
"Sweetheart there's a at least six other people in this house. Let them feel useful." He mused when his thumb released her bottom lip from the clutches of her teeth.
Caroline was on the verge of complying until the buzz of her cell phone on the piano distracted them both.
"What is with all the bloody interruptions?" Klaus groaned.
The baby vampire giggled as she wiggled out of his embrace to check the bright screen.
"Our daughter is the interruption. She and Sebastian are right outside. Try to play nice." Caroline encouraged, grinning into another quick kiss before walking towards the front door.
Klaus felt a surge of panic run through his body as he watched from afar as Caroline opened the door.
Her face lighting up at the sight of the young blonde girl in the doorway, pulling her teeth in for a tight hug that visibly embarrassed Lizzie but he knew deep down she appreciated it.
A small smile began forming at the corners of his lips watching them together, knowing they were two of the four lights of his life—his forever love and daughter both under the same roof with him again. For the first time all day he felt whole, finally having all his girls together again, even if it was only briefly.
Family was something Klaus never took advantage of, not anymore.
He tried to focus on the tender moment playing out in front of him instead of the the smirking brunette boy standing beside Lizzie in the doorway.
Klaus' smile faded and fists clenched when Sebastian greeted Caroline with a kiss on both cheeks.
This was the first time he had actually seen the other vampire fully.
No denying he was originated from a different era, based on his ruffled white shirt, boots and blazer like a pirate. Lizzie explained that Sebastian was desiccated as a teenager but he still had a mature aura that made Klaus uncomfortable. His features so sharp and defined, it made him seem much older than he claimed. Too mature for a newly 17 year old girl to be with—Klaus thought.
"And these are for you, Headmistress Forbes. Elizabeth informed me that you fancy white lilies."
Klaus overheard the youngster using his charm on Caroline and based on her flattered reaction and an 'aw you didn't have to' quickly following, it seemed to be working.
-I hate this.
Klaus's chest compressed as the three began walking towards him with beaming smiles on all faces except the boy. Instantly noticing the young couple's fingers interlocked together while Lizzie and Caroline talked and Sebastian's eyes wandered around the mansion curiously.
-I really hate this...
He let out a deep exhale as a smile shaped his lips as the enthusiastic young witch skipped into his arms.
"Merry Christmas Klaus!" Lizzie beamed as their hug tightened.
The nerves that had piled up in Klaus' throat dissipated at the warm greeting from just one of the four lights in his life. It was difficult to imagine the centuries he went without physical affection given how habitual the act was now.
It had barely been two months since he last saw Lizzie but it felt like forever now that she was back home—her real home.
Rubbing her back and kissing the top of her head, Klaus slightly pulled away with one arm still around her.
"Merry Christmas sweetheart. How was the drive?"
"Great. I mean, Uncle Damon's burnt down Camaro is as ancient as he is and I nearly broke a nail operating the stick shift, but overall no complaints."
Klaus nodded his head, making a mental note to dispose of the Salvatore hand-me-down and buy Lizzie a brand new car.
"All that matters is that you're finally here safe and sound." Caroline beamed as she hugged her once more. "Everyone else is probably in the kitchen, slacking on their tasks but they'll be happy to see you."
Expecting everyone to follow her to the room but instead stood in confusion as no one moves.
Lizzie's feet stayed planted, biting her lip anxiously while pulling at the fabric of her white sweater like she wanted to rip it in half
"Um actually, before the rest of our dysfunctional family joins in on all the awkward fun that is to surely take place, I want to officially introduce someone to both of you first."
Klaus felt like the wind was knocked out of him when she took a step backwards to join the young vampire's side. Trying to keep his temper at bay when their hands joined again.
"This is Sebastian. He's a new student at the boarding school and my...my boyfriend." She timidly announced.
Another punch to the core.
Klaus' face was neutral but his body was stiff as a board from the pent up frustration that came with watching your child grow up right in front of you.
He tried to keep in mind the conversation he and Caroline just shared—easier said than done.
"It's nice to officially meet you Sebastian. We've heard great things about you. We're glad you were able to spend Christmas with us." Caroline greeted him.
"No, I'm the grateful one for you Headmistress. Not just for allowing me into your home for the holidays but also enrolling me into the school at the last minute. I see where Elizabeth gets her generosity from." Sebastian charmed.
Klaus' eyes couldn't roll harder, even more from how much Caroline was actually being affected by such mediocre charm. Her bright smile and modest blush that were once only preserved for him now being used on a amateur immortal with accent was sickening.
"It's an honor to finally put a face to the name, sir." Sebastian said with a nervous closed-lipped smile, stepping forward with his hand out.
Klaus stared down at the boy's hand, studied it like it was a foreign object as the three impatiently waited for him to make the next move. A handshake was final, a sign of respect and approval—he definitely didn't approve of him just yet.
He didn't like like this boy and if it were up to him his heart would be rolling in the ice cold snow for even gazing in Lizzie's direction. But he owed it to both Lizzie, and Caroline, to prove he trusted her.
Drawing out a dramatic exhale through his nose, Klaus uncrossed his arms as he locked eyes with the immortal boy. His jaw set and body tense when engulfing Sebastian's hand in a death grip, finally reciprocating the formal gesture.
"Um, Lizzie why don't we go find a nice vase to put these lilies in." Caroline suggested.
"You mean leave them alone, together?" Lizzie laughed. "Yeah, thanks but no thanks mom. I would prefer to return to Mystic Falls with my boyfriend in one piece."
Klaus chuckled at the nervous gulp dropping down Sebastian's throat.
"Sweetheart I promise, I won't kill him. Go on." He assured her with a sinister smile he usually wore before ripping out someone's spleen.
Relieved when she reluctantly followed Caroline out of the room, he set his focus back on the bug-eyed vampire in front of him.
"Unlucky for you I'm not big on keeping promises." Klaus gripped Sebastian's hand even harder—making him wince in pain and jerking himself forward.
"Mister Mikaelson—"
"Except when it comes to my family." Klaus added. "You'd be wise to remember the only reason your limbs aren't scattered around the bloody bayou and heart remains in your chest is because of Lizzie."
Sebastian frantically nodded, groaning from the pulsating ache in his right hand when Klaus finally released it from his hold.
Klaus took a step back, dipping his hands into his pants pockets as he watched the vampire boy massage his own hand. The vampire boy who was spending the next couple of days under his roof, charming his family. The vampire boy who captured Lizzie's heart and knowing there was nothing he could do about it—to protect her.
He sighed looking down at his shoes. "Do you care about her?"
Sebastian paused for a few seconds before nodding his head.
Klaus pressed his lips into a straight line as he walked dangerously slow towards the boy. "Usually I wouldn't tell a stranger this but you're not someone I consider a threat, Lizzie means everything to me. There is absolutely nothing I wouldn't do for her and that includes torturing and mutilating anyone who dares to hurt her in anyway. Understood?"
The vampire gulped when he tripped over the carpet, now realizing how close their chests were to each other's and his back to the wall.
"She's been through quite a lot in her short life and doesn't need an ancient delinquent ruining how far she's come. So I ask again, do you care about her?"
"Me and Elizabeth had our issues in the beginning, I'll admit." Sebastian shamefully confessed. "I—I did hurt her, rather cruelly, and by all unknown good graces she found it in herself to forgive me and grant us a second chance. Deep down I know I don't deserve the your daughter's love and care but, she's the first person in centuries who sees me as a man instead of a monster. Who thinks I'm worth a second chance. It'd be senseless of me to not see what this could become and the past couple of months have proven the future to be bright. So yes, Mister Mikaelson I care about Elizabeth immensely and will leave before I ever hurt her again."
The hybrid shook his head, a small laugh following after. "I know that story, all too well." Cleared the emotional lump in his throat.
It felt like looking into the mirror of he and Caroline's journey. How they originated in hate and hurt. The amount of chances she gave him, the way they saw each other in ways no one else could and the frogs she had to kiss along the way before choosing him as her forever.
Not that Klaus was rallying for this boy to steal Lizzie away, but he was beginning to understand the their draw to one another. Thankfully they wouldn't have to face similar challenges but there were sure to be new ones, and he'd be there by her side—if she needed him.
"Well, I will say I appreciate your honesty."
"I didn't want my first impression to be based under false pretenses." Sebastian grinned with a shrug. "Though she tells me not to worry, your opinion about me does matter. The Headmistress as well but from what Elizabeth has told me, you two are quite close. She values your insights and opinions more than anyone's. Given your infamous and intimidating reputation, it was actually less awkward meeting you than the hairy mortal with a crossbow."
Klaus threw his head back, laughing hysterically.
"You should've seen when he actually tried using that contraption on me. Free comic relief. I'm sure he has one with your name on it as well."
Sebastian snickered. "Yes, actually he's already threatened me with it a few times. Threats and all, I'm glad she has a family who cares about her to this extent. It's refreshing...to someone who is foreign to such familial love."
Klaus understood this boy better than he'd ever admit.
Sighing, Klaus placed his hands in his pants pockets again.
"Come on. It's going to be a long weekend and you haven't even scratched the surface of meeting our entire family."

(1) Hi! For your requests: Fair warning, this will be long (I've had too much time to think about it), so this is a multiparter ask. The typical: Caroline was raised by her dad and Klaus comes by to see what she knows about Elena, but, she stays in Atlanta and doesn't help out with the ritual. They meet, fall in love. Klaus wants her to be a vampire, and since she feels like this is a forever thing, she agrees, but only after she's 21. Klaus breaks his curse and comes back to her. Now ...
Continued from Anon’s Ask:
(2) Caroline turns 18, they ~celebrate~. Caroline would be on birth control until this point, but decides she doesn’t need it anymore because he’s technically dead. She starts showing signs of pregnancy. They’re both shocked (Klaus suspicious/angry) and they go to the doctor who is able to tell them exactly how far along she is, proving it has to be his. She argues to keep the baby as if they’re going to be together forever like they want, this will be the only chance they have. He moves them...
(3) to a huge house in a safe location and they prepare for the baby. Klaus didn’t tell his siblings about her or the baby, so it’s a shock to them when they show up needing him and a pregnant lady opens the door. Take it where you want or stop on what points you like since you're the one writing it. (Or completely discard it altogether but please don't). Thanks!
A/N: Wow, this is a big ask! So… there’s a LOT in here, and since the first two parts give plenty of backstory that I’m just not interested in writing at this time, I’m going to focus on one main scene that caught my eye and sparked a plot bunny. We’ll say that Caroline is about 6-7 months along in this drabble. Hopefully you like it, Anon!
A Family Reunion
Rebekah Mikaelson impatiently rapped on the door, yelling, “Nik, open up the door, you bloody tyrant! NIK!”
Beside her, Elijah stood with his hands in his pockets and a long-suffering look on his face. Next to him, Kol leaned against the side of the house, arms crossed, eyes closed, and an irritated scowl on his face.
“I don’t see why we couldn’t have just texted him to meet us there,” Kol complained.
“Because he hasn’t responded to my texts in weeks, that prat,” Rebekah snapped in response.
“Coming!” A female voice called from inside the house, and the three siblings exchanged looks of surprise.
Moments later, the door opened and the siblings were face-to-face with a petite blonde human woman.
Rebekah blinked, and then her eyes widened in surprise.
Elijah blinked, and then his gaze narrowed as he focused on the woman who stood before them.
Kol blinked, brought his hands up to his eyes to rub them, and blinked again.
“Bloody hell,” Rebekah finally breathed, her eyes focused on the woman’s belly.
The human was swollen with child.
“You called for Nik?” The woman asked brightly.
“Yes. You are acquainted with Niklaus?” Elijah responded politely.
“You could say that,” she responded, her lips twitching upwards in amusement.
“You’re carrying his child,” Kol whispered.
“Yup!” She confirmed, her eyes sparkling with mirth as she stood by the door. “And you guys must be his siblings.”
“How do you know?” Elijah asked, surprise on his face.
“He draws your faces from time to time, and sometimes he shares stories from your childhood. You must be Elijah, Kol, and Rebekah,” she gestured at each Mikaelson sibling as she named them.
“Yes, we are.” Rebekah confirmed. “And you are…?”
The blonde human smiled and cheerfully said, “I’m Caroline! Nik’s out right now, but he should be back soon. Why don’t you guys come in for some refreshments? I popped in a batch of double chocolate muffins into the oven earlier – they’ll be ready soon!”
“Well… if it’s double chocolate muffins,” Kol responded with amusement, already following Caroline into Nik’s house.

When Klaus returned to the safehouse an hour later, he should have been surprised at the series of events that had unfolded while he was away.
But truth be told, he and his siblings had the most unfortunate habit of dropping into each others’ lives unannounced and at the worst time. Always. Even from opposite ends of the globe, he had lost count of the number of times Kol gleefully uprooted his plans.
Anyhow, when he returned to the safehouse, he found Caroline curled up on the couch with a blanket on her lap, balancing a small plate on her baby bump while nibbling on a muffin. There was a tray of muffins on the coffee table that had evidently been worked on.
And his siblings had seated themselves around her, each working on their own muffin or a mug or both.
Caroline was laughing at something Kol said, his brother making wild gestures and waving his arms. Rebekah chimed in from time to time, while Elijah looked like he was trying not to laugh.
Caroline spotted him first, beaming as she said, “Welcome home, Nik! You never told me your siblings were so wonderful!”
“You haven’t had the experience of living with them for a thousand years. You might feel differently afterwards.” Klaus responded dryly.
“Well,” Rebekah interjected with a slight sneer, “Caroline’s delightful, unlike you, brother. I almost forgive you for ignoring us for the past couple weeks, but you really should have introduced us sooner.”
“Ah of course, so my unborn child can quadruple her list of enemies before she is brought into world. Why didn’t I think of that sooner, sister?” He responded irritably.
“Nik, sit down and have a muffin.” Caroline interrupted, pinning him with a look. It was reminiscent of an angry kitten.
“Can Nik even have chocolate?” Kol mused aloud. “Doesn’t chocolate make dogs sick?”
Everyone present groaned. Klaus responded by grabbing a muffin and launching it at his brother.
The afternoon quickly descended into chaos with the remaining muffins being used as ammunition, fueled by Caroline’s growing ire as she ordered Klaus and Kol to clean up the mess they made.
The human woman could be quite intimidating when she put her mind to it, not that any of the Mikaelson siblings would admit.
xxxxx
“Y’know,” Kol mused as they walked away, “Maybe we could just replace Nik with Caroline.”
Rebekah swatted his arm as she hissed, “Don’t you dare.”
“But Bekah,” he complained, “Double chocolate muffins!”
This time, Elijah sighed out loud.

a/n:There  will be great mad Mikaelson chaos and lots of love…
absolute christmas fluff... ho-ho-ho
_also this just blew into such a long ch_ thanks for reading. xoxo
A day after
Mikaelson Mansion
"I am so happy that you came a few days earlier. Ever since you moved to New York, I hardly see you."  Rebekah said cheerfully.
"I am sorry, but my workload doesn't allow me to be here as often as I wish to." Elijah said.
"I thought that since we moved back to Mystic Falls, it would be closer and you could be here nearly every weekend. It's only an hour by plane."
"It is, but, you forget that I need to get to the airport and then from Richmond here- and that is three extra hours." Elijah said.
"I really don't get why you have to stay there. You can open a practice here. People will need a good lawyer here, too. It's like you don't want to be with us anymore. Ever since father died you - shut down" the blonde complained.
"I have not shut down. We speak every day." Elijah said surprised that Rebekah was giving him a hard time as if he neglected them completely.
"Yes, but it is not the same. Klaus is always somewhere. Kol is impossible to - talk to. You know what he is like. It's lucky I got Stefan."
"You have Stefan and soon you will be Mrs Salvatore and your own home and you will not need any of us." Elijah said.
"Yes, but - still - I know it is terrible to say it, but you are my favourite brother. And I miss you being here."
"I know. I miss all of you, too." Elijah said.
"You would not say this if you are with her everyday, forever blocking the drive way," Kol now got in the dining room, "boring us with her wedding planning yada yada"
"I see nothing has changed here" Elijah said.
"No. Same old." Klaus now said entering the dinning room with his daughter Hope followed by Esther.
"Hope is more mature in her ways than you two, and she is only 12" Esther said directing her look at Kol and Rebekah.
They all sat down now at the big table. Esther looked happy to see  her children and her grandchild together at the table. It was rare that they sat down like this. Only twice a year she would be able to have the pleasure.
"Even though it is not Thanksgiving yet, I would like to give thanks for - having you here, all together. And soon we will have one addition to the family."
Kol now cut in looking at Rebekah, "You're pregnant, that is why you are getting married in a rush."
"I am not," Rebekah replied briskly, "we are getting married because we love each other. What would you know"
"What would I know?" Kol now shot back at his sister obviously pained by the remark."I loved Davina- "
Klaus, who was sitting next to his younger brother, put his hand on his shoulder, as Kol was about to get up in his strop.
Elijah gave his sister a look that said- this was really uncalled for.
"I am sorry." Rebekah now said looking at Kol tearfully,"I am really sorry."
"You should be." Kol said.
"Enough!" Esther now raised her voice.
"I am sorry, mother." Kol apologized.
"You two will sit down and find a way to work your behaviour. You are not little children anymore. I will not want to have this repeated again. Am I clear?" Esther now looked at Kol and Rebekah,"Am I clear?"
Both Kol and Rebekah now nodded, apologizing once again.
"Good. Now - let's have breakfast." Esther said turning her look to Klaus, "What times is your plane?"
"Noon." Klaus replied, "We will be back tomorrow at two."
"Can you please put some flowers down to your father's grave as well, for me?"
"Of course"
"Thank you."  Esther curled a tiny warm smile at her son.
The Mikaelsons, same as some of the others, had loads of happy and good times, but they also had their share of tragedy. They were also not perfect. But then again who was.
As everyone left, she took a moment to herself, pulling out an old album.
Are you all right, Mrs Mikaelson?" the butler asked the woman.
"Yes. There will always be a hole in my heart, but seeing everyone happy and getting on so wonderfully in their lives gives me strength. Right. I am going over to the Historical Society to meet the mayor.  I have also asked Elijah to take the boxes to the homeless shelter when he returns from the town. Can you just help him with it?"
"Yes, Ma'am" the butler said and then left her to her memories.
*
A while later
Whitmore Homeless shelter
Y/N finished with her pro bono medical help there, and now spoke to the manager of the shelter about setting up a more permanent medical Centre close by.
"We will not get the funding for it from the City Council" the man replied.
"Ok. Then we will have to do a fundraiser." Y/N said.
"I really haven't got time to organize this."
"I will be more than ready to help." Y/N offered.
"I will help, too." a voice now came from the door, that was left open.
Both the shelter manager and Y/N turned to the man standing at the door.
"I am so sorry that I barged in like that. But I would like to help. I - and my mother had great experience in doing fundraisers like these."
"And you are?" the manager asked.
"Elijah Mikaelson." Y/N replied instead of the
"Yes- I am sorry, but ahm- yesterday I didn't quite catch your name" Elijah fibbed a little.
"Y/N, Dr Y/L/N”
"Nice to meet you, Dr Y/L/N" Elijah extended his hand now.
"Nice to meet you, too." Y/N said still holding his warm hand. As she moved her hand out of his, she felt strange butterflies ruffling up in her stomach. "So, I can really count on you?
"Yes. I don't leave things on empty promise. I am a man of my word." Elijah said."I will leave all my details and you can send me all your proposal ideas."
"All right. I will keep you to your - word." Y/N said thinking how very old- fashioned it sounded.
The manager's assistant now got in and thanked Elijah for the great donation in clothing as well as the check.
"Yes, this is why I came to the office. Here is the check." Elijah presented it to the shelter manager.
"Thank you so much, Mr Mikaelson. Please give your mother my regards."
"I sure will. Thank you." Elijah said."Well, if there is anything else you will need please do not hesitate to ask."
"You can help as at the kitchen then? We are about to serve the early supper. We need a volunteer." Y/N turned to Elijah.
Elijah was caught in the moment, but then nodded."Gladly."
And he followed Y/N to the shelter kitchen.
"So, you are running errands for you mom?"
"Yes, she is very busy. Tomorrow is the big Thanksgiving Ball at Historical Society Rooms and she has a lot still to sort out." Elijah replied."I hope you found a gown?"
"I have." Y/N said."I presume you will be there, too?"
"I will. This is why I came down for. And also to spend some quality time with my family." Elijah replied.
The other two volunteers now came in, one of them being Bonnie, she introduced Elijah to her friend and the other woman, who was one of the cooks.
There was no time to waste on chatting and they now got plating the food and soon serving it as the people started coming in.
"That's Elijah? Kol and Klaus' brother?" Bonnie asked as Elijah went to the tables with some plates.
"Yes. He is so - different" Y/N said looking over with the corner of her eye at Elijah, who in his Armani shirt with his sleeves up talking and joking a bit with some of the guys.
"Klaus always said that he is so serious. The lawyer!" Y/N said.
Seeing a twinkle in her friend's eyes, Bonnie couldn't stop herself and said now teasingly, "If I didn't know better, I'd say you like what you are seeing. More than like?!"
"Shush" Y/N said as she now saw Elijah returning.
Not long after, Kol appeared, as  Bonnie had sent him a message that she would be at the Whitmore homeless shelter. Both brothers looked stunned at one another. To see Elijah with an apron was something he never thought he would see. But it was the same for Elijah, as he thought that Kol wouldn't care about any kind of charitable work. And although Elijah didn't say anything, but the way he looked at his brother surprised to see him there, Kol now burst at his brother. "All of you think that I am some kind of selfish immature loser. But you don't really know who I am. Not really."
"Kol - it is not true. I know that you are good hearted caring person," Elijah said, "why are you snapping at me like that? What is going on?"
Kol went quiet now looking at Bonnie and then at his brother. Apologizing, he now went out. Elijah wanted to go after him, but Bonnie said to let it be and she went after Kol.
Elijah looked at Y/N somewhat clueless.
"I think I know what is going on" Y/N now said.
"You do?"
Y/N nodded, "Let's take 5 minutes break."
They went to the back of the kitchen.
“Coffee?” Y/N offered, to which Elijah nodded as in yes.
"I know it is not my place to say, but - they have been seeing each other for a while now-" she said as she handed him a mug of coffee.
"Your friend Bonnie - is seeing Kol?"
"Yes. Last night, she kind of told him that they should - cool it. And I think your brother is in love."
"Oh," Elijah exclaimed taking a sip of coffee,"now that explains his behaviour earlier today."
"I think she is also in love with him, but - he got this special award for his comics series and they offered him to finish his term in Hunter College in New York."
"He won't go if she tells him that she feels so much more than-?"
"Yeah."
"I didn't know he got this award." Elijah said.
"I don't think he told anyone." Y/N said.
"Huh- Kol"
"Love is - not easy." Y/N said and finished her coffee.
"No, it is not"  Elijah looked at Y/N in a sweet mellow way. She felt like every ounce of her breath was taken from her lungs. Her stomach flipped unexpectedly again, and she didn't understand where this was coming from. It was like he’d cast some kind of compelling spell on her. Elijah also didn't quite get what was happening to him as well. It has been a long while since a woman had stirred everything inside of him. Lost in the gaze, he didn't hear his phone ring, until Y/N said, "Are you going to take that call?"
"Ha? Yes" Elijah snapped quickly out of the sweet haze, took his phone out and swiping the call open- said, "Caroline"
Y/N left him to talk and went to the dining area, trying to steady the butterflies in her stomach.

Just Good Business: Chapter Four
Caroline Salvatore, married into one of New York's most brutal crime families.
Niklaus Mikaelson, a notorious mob boss who is hell bent on taking down the Slavatores.
It's an affair for the ages.
A/N: This chapter is a bit lighter and calmer than the rest of the story. It takes place four months after chapter 2.
Four Months Later
Life had become a shit show for Caroline. Once the media got wind that Stefan Salvatore had been arrested for murder, the world turned on its axis. Reporters and journalist all descended upon them like a swarm of locus. Caroline was not a fool. She knew that Klaus owned multiple people in the news business, it was how he stayed out of the limelight, and he was doing this. He was making life very difficult for Damon and Stefan. Their movements were restricted, watched by the entire world. He was smoothing them, putting an insane amount of pressure just to show that he could.
Stefan was able to make bail and was out of his jail cell within days. Their lawyer, Alaric Saltzman, was good and knew exactly what loopholes to look for to get his client out of distress. However, the prosecution insisted that Stefan was a flight risk and needed to be monitored. So, he was slapped with an ankle bracelet and all of his movements were tracked. Now the courts were filled with motions, continuances and a long bureaucratic game of chess on whether or not Stefan Salvatore was going to prison. The public perception was screaming for a guilty verdict. The mansion was under complete surveillance at all times; however, the feed did not go to the FBI. Stefan was caged in; backed into a corner that he had trouble digging himself out of and he knew that Klaus was behind it. He assumed that Klaus was seeking revenge against the death of his brother Kol. A debt was owed and now Klaus was coming to collect. Both Damon and Stefan were feeling the weight of Klaus’s power and she could see behind their eyes that they knew that they were picking a fight they could not win.
But their pride would not let them surrender; even if Klaus allowed them too.
Everything was in lockdown. Stefan and Damon hired more bodyguards and Caroline was constantly followed. It was rare that she was allowed out of the house without someone by her side and the increase of guards made it so that it was not only Enzo that accompanied her. They came in shifts, different people in and out daily that worked for them and Caroline thought it was a foolish move. She knew Klaus would grab at such an opportunity and that some of these men belonged to him; along with an order to step in if Stefan even attempted to lay a hand on Caroline again.
At first, Caroline was able to get out of the house here and there, but it was becoming increasingly harder. If it wasn’t the media tracking her down, Stefan had her guarded. His paranoia was unraveling with his lack of control and he was worried that Caroline would seek out Damon to tell him his dirty little secret. While Stefan was boxed in, Damon had more freedom. He was not so closely watched by the media nor did he have the government, Elijah, tracking his every move. He was able to conduct business and do what needed to be done as long as he was careful.
But it wasn’t easy. Klaus side stepped him at every turn. Klaus had the twelve men that Damon had delivering important cargo from Italy, slaughtered; a bloody massacre that only made the news because the Mayor’s son, Tyler Lockwood was killed in the crossfire. By the time Damon reached the docks, all of the men were dead, and his delivery gone. Turns out Damon was importing weapons that were not legal in the United States, let alone New York.
With Damon’s continued absence, doing the work for both himself and Stefan, Elena found herself at the mansion with Stefan and Caroline more often. The ongoing affair became more frequent; it was the only thing keeping Stefan calm and while Caroline thought it was completely insane that the two of them would act in such a way, with so many eyes on them, she couldn’t help be thankful at Stefan’s calmed temper.
That, and as Klaus had told her months ago, Stefan and Elena would be a tragedy of their own making. It would only be a matter of time before the wrong person said the right thing to Damon, and everything would unravel. All Klaus and Caroline had to do was be patient.
In the meantime, Caroline just tried to live her life as though nothing was wrong and stay out of Stefan’s way.
“I have an appointment with Dr. Laughlin at 8:30. Caroline Salvatore.” Caroline told the elderly nurse behind the desk. Stefan did not even blink when she told him that she had a doctor’s appointment and that it was for her birth control shot. He just told her to ensure that Enzo and Maddox went with her. Maddox was a bigger man, burly, terrifying and dedicated to his job. He was young and very eager; two things Caroline found to be a troubling combination.
“Oh, I’m sorry dear. Dr. Laughlin resigned last month.” Caroline was taken aback. She had not heard that her doctor had left the practice. “No matter. We have you set up to meet with a Dr. Maxfield. I’m sure he will be more than happy to assist you. Have a seat.” Caroline nodded and made her way towards one of the seats in the lobby.
“What’s wrong?” Maddox asked her.
“Dr. Laughlin is no longer here. I was not made aware she left. That’s all.” Caroline pursed her lips. She had her theories. It was known that Dr. Laughlin was dating Stefan’s attorney and Caroline would not put it past Klaus to have her removed. She wished she had been informed of this change but knew that communication between her and Klaus was difficult for the time being. She had not seen him in weeks, let alone spoken to him; minus the scarce messages she was able to pass through Enzo.
“Caroline Salvatore.” Caroline stood from her chair, happy that her appointments were always early in the morning and followed the nurse into the doctor’s office. The nurse went about the normal routine, checking her vitals, weight and asking all the typical questions. She handed Caroline a cup and pointed to the bathroom. She paused slightly, not sure why she needed a urine sample but brushed it off. New doctor and seemingly a more thorough one.
Then she waited what felt like forever. The thing about doctors’ offices were that they wanted their patients to be early only to make them wait. When a knock sounded on the door, Caroline bid entry, relieved. Dr. Maxfield was a man in his mid to late thirties with blonde hair, blue eyes and a gentle face.
“Mrs. Salvatore. I’m Dr. Maxfield. I am taking over Dr. Laughlin’s patients for the time being.” He held out his hand for her to shake. He seemed harmless enough and she knew that Klaus would have vetted him thoroughly. “How are you feeling this morning?”
“Normal. Fine.”
“Well. It has been a bit since the last time you were in.” Dr. Maxfield replied. He looked over her records. “About six months.”
“That’s not right.” Caroline narrowed her eyes. “I come every three months for my birth control shot. My appointments are always made a year in advance.”
“Mrs. Salvatore. You haven’t been here in six months.” Dr. Maxfield insisted. For a second, Caroline wondered why someone would delete her visit out of her medical records; but then she thought back to where she was three months ago.
She was healing from Stefan’s attack. He was facing charges and coming home with an ankle monitor. People in and out of her home, trying to stay alive and do what she could to help Klaus end this miserable existence. When her calendar reminder came up for her appointment, she meant to reschedule and never did. She never made that appointment and when her phone remaindered of this one, she didn’t think twice.
“Shit.” Caroline’s eyes where wide. “That’s why you had me take urine sample. It was a pregnancy test.”
“You’re quick.” He smiled at her. “Congratulations Mrs. Salvatore. You’re pregnant.” Caroline felt as though her entire world came crashing down around her. This was not in the plan. Her and Klaus never once talked about children and what their future held once everything was said and done. She knew she would be with him but beyond that, the future was a mystery. “Without doing a blood test, I can’t exactly tell you how far along you are.”
“Five weeks. It would have to be.” Her mind flashed to that night in the back of Klaus’s limo. She had a few moments out of the house when Stefan asked her to leave the house for the evening. She knew that Stefan was having her followed, he always had for a while now, but she was able to sneak out a back door of the department store she was in. She dressed up for Klaus; wore a little black number that left little to the imagination. It was one of their briefest encounters but suddenly became more significant. That was the only time they had been together since the media storm hit. It had been weeks prior to that meeting that they had been together and weeks since.
“Five weeks.” The doctor smiled kindly, understanding her meaning. “Do you want to see the baby? I can do an ultrasound.” Numbly, Caroline nodded her head. Thousands of thoughts rang through her mind. Did Klaus want children? Could she bring a baby into this world? What was she going to do about Stefan? His trial could drag out for months and if him and Elena continued to remain discrete, Damon may never know of their affair.
Dr. Maxfield left her for a few minutes before returning with the equipment. Caroline laid down and lifted her shirt in order to show abdomen. Dr. Maxfield put some jell on her stomach, Caroline wincing at the cold feeling, and moved the wand around. She watched the screen and looked at the black and white image of her uterus. “It’s too soon to hear the heartbeat but do you see that small bean shaped thing right there?”
“Yes.”
“That’s your baby.” That moment when Caroline thought the world was crumbling, vanished. She looked at that small bean and she knew that nothing was more important in the world. She would do anything to protect that baby-her baby. Klaus’s baby. The doctor just let Caroline look at the screen, a feeling of love consumed her. “Do you want a picture?”
“Yes. Please.” He nodded, snapped a picture with the wand and turned the machine off. The moment the image was gone, Caroline felt a sense of loss. The doctor left the office again and she cleaned the jell off her stomach. It took a few moments, that had Caroline pacing the room, before he returned. He gave her a small smile and handed her the photo. Seeing the ultrasound again, had Caroline placing her hand on her abdomen. Caroline continued to stare at the photo while the doctor rattled off recommendations that she would need to follow. She nodded her head, taking note of how to keep herself as healthy as possible.
“Now, it would be best to see you in about a month. Once the holidays have passed should be enough time. We can check your progress from there.” Caroline nodded. A month. That bought her some time to be able to see Klaus. She would have to figure out a way for her to get out of the house and to Klaus. Before she made any sort of decisions, she needed to know where he stood on this.
Much to Caroline’s relief, an opportunity presented itself about four days later…and in the form of Elena.
Caroline was sitting in one of the back rooms of the mansion, staring out at the December snow that was falling around them. The last few days found Caroline kept to herself. Damon and Elena were a constant presence in the home; some new catastrophe seemed to have befallen them, but Caroline tuned them all out. She was too focused on the life growing inside her and wondering how she was going to get them out of this mess.
“Caroline?” She turned to see that Elena had entered the room with an uncertain smile on her lips. Elena moved forward slightly and sat down in the chair by Caroline. “Sorry if I disturbed you. I couldn’t stand to listen to Damon and Stefan fight anymore.”
“What happened now?”
“You don’t know?” Elena looked at her confused and Caroline just shrugged. She knew that they all thought she was a spoiled little socialite that paid little to no attention to what went on around her, and Caroline was fine with that. “Mayor Lockwood is dead.”
“Oh?”
“Drowned in her own bathtub. Too much wine according to the news report.” Elena snorted at that. Caroline said nothing in return. It was Klaus. Damon was pressuring the Mayor to pardon Stefan. Klaus was already displeased by the fact that she had made a deal with them previously, he was not about to forgive her again. “Load of bull if you ask me; but I didn’t come in here to talk about Carol Lockwood.”
“Why did you come in here?”
“I need a favor.” Caroline’s expression had to have shown her surprise because Elena sighed. “And to say thank you. For everything.”
“Everything?”
“Yeah. Everything.” Caroline knew what Elena was trying to avoid saying but Caroline wanted to hear it from her lips. “Things are bad right now and it will be for a while. Damon and Stefan are trying to find a way to take Klaus down. One way or another, we will figure it out but right now it is hard.” She sighed and looked at Caroline. “You could have made things a lot worse for Stefan and I. I want to say thank you for staying quite…about him and I, I mean.”
“Elena.” It was hard for Caroline to keep the laughter from her voice. “Let me be plain with you. I don’t want to be married to Stefan, no more than he wants to be married to me. You know that.” Elena nodded. “The fact that he likes to fuck you behind closed doors, I don’t care. In fact, it makes my life easier because if Stefan has you, he leaves me alone. Why would I go run to your husband and ruin that? So, what do you want from me?”
“Fair point.” Elena nodded. Caroline skipped over the fact that Damon most likely wouldn’t believe her anyway; not without proof. “Damon will be out tonight. He is going to deal with this issue regarding the Mayor’s death. He has a few meetings and will be gone for a while. I was hoping that Stefan and I could have the house tonight.”
Part of Caroline wanted to tell Elena to ‘fuck off’ but she refrained. Here was the woman, who was fucking Caroline’s husband, asking her to leave her own home in order to for her to fuck Caroline’s husband. If this was not the life Caroline lived, she would not believe that this would actually happen to real people. However, Caroline knew she had a pressing matter to discuss with Klaus and she was not going to turn down this opportunity.
“Sure.”
“Really?” Elena replied surprised, her big brown eyes blinking at her sister-in-law in confusion. She thought that Caroline would give her a bit more of a hassle. “Thank you.”
“Sure. I haven’t seen Haley in a while. I might see if she is free.” Elena nodded. Clearly seeing that Caroline had no desire to speak to her, she stood from the chair and left the room. Caroline watched her go, rolling her eyes as she went. She pulled her phone from the pocket of her cardigan and pulled up Enzo’s contact information.
Come get me.
When?
An hour.
See you soon Gorgeous.
Caroline clicked her phone off and stared out the window again before pulling herself up. She walked out of the back room and went up the stairs. The house had gone quiet, the argument between Stefan and Damon seemed to have calmed down. Caroline entered the bedroom and pulled out a pair of jeans and her favorite oversized blue sweater. She changed out of her leggings and tossed the cardigan into the dirty laundry basket, heading into the bathroom to shower. Once showered and dressed, she dried her hair and pulled her it up into a messy bun before slipping on a pair of plain boots.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Caroline looked up to see Stefan glaring at her. Apparently, he was going to speak to her today, after being silent for the last few days. Hot and cold, that was Stefan. Caroline stood and walked over to her dresser, that had been replaced after Stefan beat her, and pulled out a small necklace her mother had given her when she was a teenager.
“I’m going to spend a few hours with Haley.”
“Oh really?” His tone told Caroline that Stefan thought otherwise.
“Elena asked to give you two some space. So, that’s what I’m doing.” She could see the shift in his features. “Ask her if you don’t believe me.”
It took everything inside of Caroline not to roll her eyes as she watched Stefan pull out his phone and shoot off a text. Caroline sat down at the vanity she bought shortly after she got married and applied some light makeup. If she applied to much, Stefan would think she was lying to him. If she applied none at all, he would still be suspicious.
“Okay. Go.” Stefan told her, pushing off the door frame. “Take Enzo and Maddox with you and be back before eleven.” With that, he turned and walked towards the shower; turning it on.
Caroline let out a breath she didn’t realize she was holding. She grabbed her bag that she left by her bed and threw her Stefan-approved phone inside. She peeked through the bathroom door to ensure that Stefan was inside the shower before going over to her jewelry box and opening it again. There was a false bottom and Caroline opened it quickly. She pulled out the ultrasound pictures, her phone that Klaus bought her, and put them in a zipper pocket in her purse before closing the jewelry box.
She grabbed her favorite winter coat, slipped it on and went downstairs. She peaked out of the window, just in time to see a black car pull up. Without thinking twice, she all but bolted out the door. Stefan taking a shower and leaving Caroline unsupervised was perfect; neither Enzo nor herself would have to find a way to ditch Maddox. She climbed into the back and rested her head against the leather seat; relieved to see Enzo.
“How the hell did you pull this off?”
“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.” Caroline muttered. “Drive before Stefan gets out of the shower and realizes there is not another guard with you.” Enzo nodded and pulled out of the drive. He headed towards the city and Caroline looked at the snowy grounds out the window. “Take me to the penthouse, please. Thank you.”
“Anything for you Gorgeous.” Caroline pulled out her two phones. She turned on the phone she used for Klaus and set her other one to forward her calls. Enzo held out his hand and she placed her Stefan-approved phone into his palm. “I need you to do something for me. Later, not now but in a few hours. I want you to destroy that phone.”
“Gorgeous?”
“I’m not going back, Enzo; and I don’t want to be found.” Enzo did a double take but said nothing. He just nodded and kept driving. Caroline scrolled through her contacts and clicked on Klaus’s profile. She dialed his number and waited as the phone rang. As always, Klaus answered for her.
“Sweetheart, what’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” Caroline replied and she could hear Klaus let out a breath. “Elena asked to have a few hours with Stefan and wanted me out of the house.” The look Enzo shot her from the front was pretty hilarious; wide eyes and slacked jaw. Even he, the man who has probably committed murder and other unspeakable crimes, was shocked at the audacity. “I’m coming to the penthouse. Will you be there?”
“I have a few loose ends I need to tie up but heading home. I can meet you there in about two hours. Is that enough time?” Loose ends. Caroline wondered who Klaus was murdering or what trade deal he was making. By the whimpers and groans of pain in the background, Caroline would bet on murder.
“Yes.”
“Perfect. Let yourself in.” Caroline smiled. “I missed you, Caroline.”
“Me too.” The disconnected the call and she could see that Enzo had questions, but she needed to speak with Klaus first. The ride passed in silence and while Enzo was possibly one of the most inappropriate people she knew, she thanked him for allowing her this peace.
They followed the typical protocol. The dropped the car off in some random parking garage before taking one of the cars Klaus had planted around the city. They turned off her Stefan-approved phone to stop the tracking device and drove off. When they reached the tall building where Klaus lived, she entered the lobby and went directly to the elevator; punching in the code for the penthouse. The moment the doors opened to Klaus’s home, Caroline kicked off her boots and hung her jacket up in the closet in the hallway; knowing perfectly well that Klaus would ignore the use of said closet.
The penthouse was immaculate and bright. The outer walls were made of windows, looking out over the city while the rest typically held some piece of priceless art. The floor was completely made of hardwood and he had several fluffy throw rugs stationed around the apartment; something noticed was added only once she mentioned she enjoyed those. Caroline had been to his home several times over their ten-month affair and she loved it because no matter how little time she was there, Klaus wanted her to comfortable there.
And she was.
Having some time to kill, Caroline went into his kitchen. It was a large with a startling view of the city. The counters were made of a steel grey with matching appliances. A round table was just off the kitchen island and a bar cart perched under an impressive painting that Caroline was sure cost more than what most people make in a year.
She rooted through Klaus’s cabinets and found enough ingredients for a vegetarian pasta. Cooking wasn’t something she did often because Stefan preferred to order in constantly; unless Elena was cooking then it was a different story. By the time she was almost ready to put dinner on the table, she heard the elevator ding and heard Klaus step out. She smiled, knowing that he was near.
“Hmm. I could get used to this.” Klaus stated as he came into the kitchen. He took off his winter coat and wrapped his arms around Caroline; kissing the side of her neck. She whimpered slightly; a mixture from his nose being cold and just the feel on his lips on her. It had been weeks since they had seen one another, and she knew that he was itching for physical contact as well. “Smells delicious.”
Klaus’s hands moved to slip under her sweater and cupped her bra-covered breast. He began massaging them while his lips sucked on her neck. Caroline’s head leaned against his shoulder and her eyes fluttered shut. His free hand moved down to the top of her jeans, dipping into them and moving down to cup her center.
“Klaus. I made dinner.” She whimpered out. She should have known that he would want to get her in bed the moment he stepped through the door. They had been without one another for far longer than either one of them would like to do again. In response to her plea, Klaus moved her panties to the side and pressed his fingers against her clit. “Klaus!”
“Dinner will reheat. I want you.” His breath was hot on her ear. He nipped at her ear lobe and Caroline moaned. She loved when he did that; a dirty little secret he knew drove her insane. She tried to not moan was he nipped and sucked at her ear, but her resolve was waning. She should talk to him. She should tell him about the baby but after not seeing him and the way his teeth were grazing against her skin and the pressure that he was putting against her clit did not made the decision easy.
“Fuck it.” She turned off the stove and let her resolve break. She spun around in his arms and kissed him. Hard. She pressed her entire body into his and dug her nails into his hair. She jumped up and wrapped her legs around his waist. Klaus held her easily and moved to set her on the counter. “No. Bed. It’s been forever since I’ve had you in a bed.”
The devilish smirk that appeared on Klaus’s lips made Caroline shudder in yearning. Instead of letting her down and leading her to his bedroom, he lifted her over his shoulder. She squealed in shock and when she half-heartedly demanded that he put her down, Klaus slapped her ass in response. Once inside the large bedroom, Klaus flipped Caroline down on the king-sized bed. She bounced lightly and she couldn’t help but hear her laughter echo off the walls.
“I love hearing you laugh.” Klaus stated as he kicked off his shoes and crawled up her body. Caroline, who was resting on her forearms, met Klaus in the middle to kiss him. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders and laid back against the bed, pulling Klaus with her. She opened her legs in order for Klaus to rest between them. Klaus immediately began thrusting against her, pushing his arousal against her. Caroline moaned into Klaus’s mouth at the contact. He began pulling at her sweater, pulling it upward. “I need this off.”
“But baby, it’s cold outside.” Caroline teased.
“Then I’ll keep you warm.” Klaus retorted back, causing Caroline to laugh again which only made him smile widely. His dimples appear and Caroline could not help herself but lean up and kiss each of his cheeks before raising her arms up, allowing Klaus to pull the sweater over her head. She reached behind her and unhooked her bra and tossed it to the side. “Beautiful.”
Klaus latched onto her breasts eagerly. He sucked and nipped at one while his hand stroked the other. Caroline whimpered when his teeth grazed her nipple. She arched against his mouth while her nails dug into his shoulders; clawing the fabric of his shirt.
“Why are you still dressed?” He chuckled at her impatience and pulled back. He lifted his Henley over his head and threw it on the ground, forgotten. Using the moment to her advantage, Caroline put her hands on his naked chest and flipped him onto his back. She straddled his hips and rocked herself against him. She brought her lips to his chest, leaving small bite marks across his skin. Her eyes flickered upward and caught him watching her. Klaus threaded his hands through her light blond locks and gripped. He gently pulled her upward, catching her mouth in a kiss.
“No more waiting, Sweetheart. There will be time for teasing later.” Smiling, realizing just how much time they would have to tease one another, she happily rolled off him and began to unbutton her pants. She lifted her hips and pulled them down her legs along with her panties; watching as Klaus did the same. When they both sufficiently naked, Caroline went back to straddling him.
She reached down and grabbed his member, stroking him. Klaus moaned out her name like a prayer. She brought him to her clit, coating his penis in her juices before aligning herself with him. Slowly, she sunk down onto him. The feeling of him stretching her cause her to call her out. Klaus gripped her hips while she placed her hands on his chest. She began to rock and forth, enjoying the feel of him moving inside her.
Caroline knew that Klaus enjoyed watching her ride him. He was one of his favorite positions; watching her take control and use him for her own pleasure. When she began to pick up tempo and her strokes grew harder, Klaus sat up into the sitting position and gripped her hips. The change of the angle caused Caroline to cry out his name.
“Klaus! Please.” She tossed her head back, exposing her neck to him. Klaus latched onto the exposed skin and bit gently. He was always careful never to leave a mark on her and Caroline was done. “Harder. Bite me harder. Mark me.”
“Caroline…” She gripped his hair, pulling it back so he looks at her.
“Bite me. Do it.” Never being able to refuse her, Klaus starting to nip and suck on her neck; marking her. The consequences be damned. Caroline’s hips rocked faster and Klaus reached down between them. He pressed against her clit, rubbing it in circles. “Ah! Do that again.”
Caroline’s orgasm shot through her unexpectedly. Feeling her wither and come in his arms was enough for Klaus to spill himself inside her. It did not last as long as he had imagined it would when he finally got Caroline back into his arms but seeing her lose control like that, it was impossible to hold back. When they calmed down, Klaus laid back down on his bed and let Caroline curl up on his side. She propped herself up on her elbow and peered down at him. She took her finger and traced the length of his nose; causing Klaus to reach out to bite the finger.
“I missed you.” Caroline whispered. “I thought about you every day. Tried to find a way out of that house just so I could see you for more than a quick tryst in the back of a limo.”
“That tryst was quite memorable.” Klaus teased. Caroline bit her bottom lip, he had no idea. “I hate having to let you go each and every time. I want you to stay with me more than I want Stefan’s balls on a silver platter.”
“Charming.” Caroline snorted. She leaned down and kissed him lightly. “I need a teeny tiny favor.”
“Anything.”
“Can you go get my purse?”
“What?”
“It’s in the living room. I have something I want to show you.”
“But it’s cold outside and the bed is warm. You’re warm.”
“The faster you go and get it the faster you can crawl back in here with me.” Klaus gave her an amused sigh. He rolled his eyes at her. He crawled out of bed and walked out of the bedroom; not even bothering to put on the pair of pants. Caroline hopped up, grabbed her panties and that oversized sweater. She dressed quickly and hopped back into bed. Klaus returned with her purse and frowned.
“You put clothes on.”
“Because I don’t want you to get distracted. Now, put on a pair of pants.” Klaus handed her the purse and Klaus rolled his eyes. He grabbed a pair of pajamas pants from his dresser and slipped them on. He flopped down on the bed and looked at her, wearing a smirk.
“What is in that purse that that involved me getting out of this perfectly comfortable bed and away from my beautiful naked girl?” Klaus replied, trying to peer into the purse. She narrowed her eyes and rooted through the bag. She pulled the ultrasound out of the bag and flipped it down so he couldn’t see. She tossed the bag onto the ground and looked at Klaus.
“Okay. So, first things first, I was not expecting this. I was just as surprised and shocked and terrified as you are going to be.” Klaus sat up straighter, his teasing features gone and replaced with a concerned one. She handed him the ultrasound. “I’m pregnant.”
Caroline watched the emotions flash across his face. The color drained slightly, and his pupils darted around, taking in every inch of that photo. He sat up and moved toward the end of the bed, turning his back from her. His shoulders were tense. She could not read his reaction. Was he happy? Didn’t see so but he wasn’t screaming or raging; she was unsure what to think. She wasn’t expecting him to jump for joy, but she didn’t like the silence. Caroline crawled across the bed and wrapped her arms around him.
“I need to know something and please be honest with me.” Klaus whispered when she pressed her head against his back. The tone of his voice was dark, and she could hear the fear in it. “Is there any chance that Stefan is the father?”
The question took Caroline off guard. She had not expected him to question her on whether or not he was the father. Part of her wanted to be insulted; he knew that she did not want to sleep with Stefan nor had she in a long time. Then the calmer part of her brain reasoned that she knew what this was stemming from. He was the bastard child born from an affair; he didn’t want to become Mikael. He was presented with the very real possibility that the woman he loved was pregnant with another man’s baby.
“No.”
“Please Caroline. Don’t tell me what I want to hear. I need to know.” He turned to look at her and she could see the redness of his cheeks. He must have been tormenting himself over the fact that she was still married to the bastard; that she would leave him to return to the home she had with Stefan. He knew she didn’t want to but that was the nature of their life. She moved around him, putting her knees on either side of his hips; straddling him. “If there is any chance, it doesn’t change a thing. I’ll raise this baby-“
Caroline placed a finger on his lips, silencing him. She then took his face into her hands and looked him directly in the eye.
“I am being completely honest with you when I tell you that Stefan and I have not had sex in months. It had been awhile since that night I caught him with Elena, and he had no use for me in his bed since he had her. There is zero chance that he is the father of this baby.” Caroline grabbed Klaus’s hand and placed it on her stomach. “This baby, your baby, was conceived in the back of a limo during rush hour traffic on a night that I snuck away from my abuser to be with the man I love.”
Klaus leaned up and kissed Caroline and she could taste the salt from his tears on her lips. The kiss was gentle and soft. There was a side to Klaus that he never showed the world. Those who knew him only saw the monster he painted. He covered himself in blood, fear and chaos. He peddled every illegal substance known to man and he was, by definition, an awful human being. However, there was a part of him that truly cared. She saw it when he spoke of his brother Kol or about the day he had to send his baby sister Rebekah away. She saw it whenever he made love to her and held her close to him. She saw the man that hid himself away from the world and she would love him whether or not he was covered in blood or tears.
“You’re not going back.” Klaus whispered to her gently. He moved to stand, and Caroline climbed off him. He pushed off the bed and walked out of the bedroom; Caroline not being able to do anything but follow him. He was in the kitchen, pulling out a bottle of water; the ultrasound still clutched in his hand. She could see his mind at work, a thousand scenarios flashing behind his eyes.
“Klaus?”
“You can’t go back there Caroline.” He hissed out but she knew it wasn’t directed at her. She watched as he started to pace around the kitchen. “Every time I watched you leave me to go back to that…...hell…. it killed me inside. I never knew if he was going to snap. I never knew if you would be in the wrong place during one of his moods. I saw the pictures Caroline. I saw what he did to Meredith Fell…to you mother. When I saw the bruises he left on your body and all I wanted to do was burn him alive.” “I know.”
“But I couldn’t. It would just make everything worse because when there is Stefan, there is Damon who is just as bad.” He huffed. “I’ve done a lot of unforgivable things. I am a horrible man. I’ve gunned down dozens of men and innocent people have gotten stuck in the crossfire. Just last night I drowned the Mayor in her bathtub. This very evening, before I came home and made love to you, I killed a man who worked for Damon. I will admit everything I have done but selfishly, I love you. I can’t lose you. I can’t lose….” He looked down at the ultrasound. “I can’t lose either of you.”
“I know Klaus.” Caroline stepped forward and wrapped her arms around his waist. She pressed her head against his chest, listing to his heart pounding widely in is chest. “When I walked out of that house today, I had no intention to go back. I have nothing left there that I want.”
“Good.” Klaus picked up her left hand and pulled the wedding ring Stefan put there almost two years prior off. He tossed it across the room. “Because your mine. I won’t let him touch you again and I swear to you that I will kill him. Maybe not directly, but I will be the reason why he dies.”

In the dying light of a cross-shaped sun, a woman awoke.
From horizon to horizon stretched a boundless sea, the sky above scorched in red, green, and lilac tones. She drifted amidst the trembling waves, carried along by its easy caress as it handled her as careful as a mother with her child. With no direction, no obvious right way to go, she was at its mercy as it carried her across its surface, no clear destination in sight wherever she looked.
So instead, she turned her thoughts, and her gaze, back to the sky. Such an unusual sunset, she thought as the sun dipping halfway beyond the horizon. The colours were more akin to a borealis, an amalgamation of odd, contrasting tones that she was certain held more in common than their appearances would have her believe. After all, it was nothing like she’d ever seen in any natural world. Nothing like what she’d ever seen from her perch upon the Mechonis, or in any other world before that.
She continued to drift, letting the ocean take her on whatever path it deigned. She was content to simply be the passenger; there was no need to be fight it, or to try and dictate the way the waves rolled her. This was her afterlife, or, so it seemed. Surprised as she was that there was one, she didn’t question it. There were so many things she didn’t understand, and so many things she had to accept. In a very long line of oddities, this was hardly the strangest she’d ever experienced.
And yet still, the shape of that cross-like sun as it continued to dim—she’d seen it before, years and years and years ago, countless millennia gone by. It had been burned into her mind, the final thing she’d seen before her life changed irreversibly, illuminating the figure of the man she loved as he dammed them both. There were many things she’d forgotten from her life before, but that would never be one of them.
Closing her eyes, she let the darkness be a comfort as she fell between the ocean’s waves, moving, moving, her body still, the air silent. In the moments of calm, she dreamt, of the Homs girl who had leant her a body, of her final moments clashing against a megalomaniacal god. War had been forever seared into her bones, into her genetic makeup. She had been born into the world fighting, and so she had left it too. Battle was all she knew, had been all she’d known for too long. Now that there was a moment for peace, she was all too glad to take it.
“This breeze. It’s nice, isn’t it?”
“I wasn’t really considering it, but now you’ve said, I can see the appeal—”
Echoing words, voices she could hardly untangle, her own, or the Homs girl, his, or the Heir to the Monado. Memories she’d shared had become integral to her being, feelings she’d absorbed from the girl who had melded with her heart. The woman was a goddess, but she hardly felt powerful now. Lost in the ocean, she pulled herself apart and pieced herself back together, over, over, a machine replacing its own circuits, a woman searching for her own soul. Thousands of years’ worth of experiences were layered over her past like sediment, burying the truth and all that she had known with it.
So caught up in herself was she, that she barely noticed the waves depositing her carefully on a shoreline that had not been there before. It was only when she felt sand beneath her fingers that she realised she was no longer at one with the sea, but instead, on the surface of a wet, grainy beach. Surprised at the sensation, the woman sat up, looking at her hands in mystified silence.
She stared, turning her hand to look at her palms, then back to look at her knuckles, grains of sand falling with the movement. Then she flexed her fingers, clawing them, spreading them, making a fist with her hand. Tendons moved, and she noticed veins too, as faded as they were. It was not the movement that surprised her, but the fluidity, the colour, simply how normal it looked. She had grown so accustomed to her metal skin, to her silver tones, that the uneven, peach tone of her flesh stunned her into silence.
“It is horrifying, is it not? To be returned to our own flesh and see ourselves for what we truly were?”
Her breath hitched. The voice that came from behind her was one she knew intimately; though he and the Heir to the Monado shared it, she knew it was not the boy who she would find if she turned. Taking a moment to steady herself, she stood, wet fabric clinging to her body, sleeves of a white lab coat tight around her arms, drenched strands of silver hair falling past her face. The garb of a human. The garb of someone she might have once been.
She didn’t turn. Not immediately. Fists clenched at her sides, staring out to sea, she said, “I see this is not the afterlife after all.”
“What would make you say that?”
How sad he sounded. She knew it for the lie that it was. “You are cruel beyond words, Zanza. Those children, tell me, did they fail? Is this how you would remake our world? You would drag me back after you won to do war once more?”
Silence. Only the dreamy sound of the rolling waves punctuated it, her anger not matched by that of the atmosphere. Those Homs that she’d entrusted the world to, they’d had so much hope for their future. She’d given her life to make it happen, to save the boy who would save them all, yet once again, she and Zanza had been brought back to their beginning.
Zanza said, “I understand if you would hate me, but you misjudge the situation. This isn’t that world reborn.”
There was no other explanation. It was as empty as it always was at the start. As the Mechonis, she had borne witness to a world made of nothing but endless ocean, her own body and his the only habitable spaces. They would eventually give birth to life once more, and then they would divulge into needless violence. It was their cycle. It was their way. Zanza forced her into battle and she had no choice but to fight back, only ever for her people, never for herself.
“I no longer wield a Monado,” the woman said. She loosened her fists, the tension leaking out of her as she realised the futility of it all. “You saw to that. I know not how I stand here before you, but our battle is over before it begins this time. You will sacrifice everything all over again, and there is nothing I can do to stop you. This world will be yours for the taking. Is that not what you dreamt of all along?”
“Perhaps a part of me did,” Zanza said. “But in truth, there’s something else. One other thing I’ve been dreaming of all this time.”
She closed her eyes, angered tears welling in the corners. Her remorse, for everything she’d failed to do. Her guilt. Her grief. The Heir to the Monado deserved no such fate as to be obliterated. His friends deserved to defy their passage of fate, not submit to it. “And what is that?”
“To finally face you again, Galea.”
The name struck her like an arrow through her back. Finally, she turned, the breeze catching her hair as she did, her voice stuck in her throat. Her eyes took a moment to adjust, to focus on the hazy sight before her. Hands in the pockets of a lab coat matching her own, a faint smile on a familiar pair of lips, eyes as blue as the ocean she’d borne witness to for millennia.
Those eyes widened as he laid them on her, his lips parting a fraction. For a moment, she wasn’t there, on the shoreline, but instead a hundred thousand years ago, stood in the faded memory of the gardens of a research facility, seeing him for the first time below the low branches of a weeping willow tree.
--
The new professor was quite unlike any who had come before him. Galea had overseen several who wanted to crack open the secrets of their newfound Conduit, but none had managed to even scratch its surface—until this young man, or, so Galea had heard from her colleagues, anyway. Brilliant, alert, and yet incredibly elitist, he had apparently driven away every other assistant who had been assigned to his side.
“He has to do everything his own way,” said her friend, who waved her hands in overdramatic gestures when Galea chose to ask after him. “You’re gonna have your hands full with this one, if you even last five minutes with him.”
Galea was next in line for the role, having been begged by the higher-ups to take over the role of assistant as their last one threw in the towel. It was a mistake to say yes, and she knew it—her mother had always told her to never take a job position if she’d been passed over as the primary candidate in the first place. But she was young. She didn’t have all the time in the world to make a mark. If there was an opportunity in place, she had no choice but to grab it with both hands.
It was in the base’s gardens she found him, stood beneath a tree with one hand resting on the trunk, gazing out across the tranquil lake that bisected the grassy land in two. The ends of his white, standard-issued coat fluttered in the wind, blond strands of hair picked up and thrown about his head. Putting on her best smile, she linked her hands behind her back and went to stand next to him.
But, in her haste, she hadn’t prepared an opening statement. Unknowing what to say, she floundered for words, desperately searching for something to introduce herself with. In the end, all that came out was, “This breeze. It’s nice, isn’t it?”
He turned his head in surprise, eyes a fraction too wide, his mouth downturned a tick. “I wasn’t really considering it, but now you’ve said, I can see the appeal—” his gaze travelled downwards, and she considered retracting her comment until his line of sight snagged on her nametag attached to her breast pocket. “—Galea.”
Above them, quietly, a war raged on. Humanity had taken their conflict higher, beyond the stars themselves, but down on the earth, it was peaceful, quiet. “Yes. And you are Professor Klaus, are you not?”
He nodded, facing back towards the lake. “Am I right in thinking that you’re to be my new assistant? I recognize your name, but this would be our first meeting.”
“Our first meeting, yes, but I’ve already heard a lot about you.”
“Have you now? None of it good, I imagine.”
“I don’t tend to believe in idle gossip,” Galea said, still smiling. “I judge men on their own merits, not on the hearsay of others. As they say, seeing is very much believing.”
The breeze caressed her skin, calm and gentle. Klaus didn’t reply immediately, and when she turned to look at him, she found him still staring out at the lake. “Might I ask what you’re looking at?”
“Nothing in particular,” came his quick response, one of his hands dipping into his coat’s pocket. “I do my best thinking in the quiet, though that pursuit is ruined now, given that you’re here now. Judging men on their own merits, you said, and refusing to take part in gossip? Well. You must be fun at parties.”
“As must you, given how quick you are to turn.” Galea crossed her arms against her chest as he turned to face her once more. He was, in her view, terribly beautiful, his hair golden, his eyes soulfully blue, like if she looked too hard, she might see galaxies shining within. “Let me guess; the reason for your rudeness is because you want nothing more than to examine the Conduit by yourself. My presence is only a hindrance because of that reason—but tell me. Why? What is it about the Conduit that draws you in?”
Klaus laughed then, a bitter sound in his throat. “I want to save this world, Galea. What else? That thing, it emits so much power, if only we could access its full potential. Nobody has the acumen, the knowledge, to figure it out. But I do. I will unlock its secrets on my own, with no-one to stand in my way. And when I do, the Saviourites will fall by my hand.”
“I see,” Galea said. “So it is trite heroism that drives you.”
“Trite—!”
“But here is the issue, Klaus,” Galea cut him off, raising a finger to quieten him. “I can hardly believe in a man who I know nothing about. Your words right now are just that—words, and I haven’t seen what you can do. For all I know, I will find the path to humanity’s survival in my own research.”
“You have a lot of confidence, don’t you?” Klaus scoffed, shaking his head. “I don’t need you. Or any of the others who they’ve tried to partner up with me. You’re all the same, eager to please, desperate to make some kind of mark. I don’t need that kind of overenthusiastic uselessness holding me back.”
“Uselessness? Such a strong word, considering you don’t know a thing about me!” Galea couldn’t help but be offended, planting her hands on her hips. “Well, you won’t find that ‘eagerness’ to please in me, Klaus. I’m not playing the role of your assistant to make-nice with the higher-ups, I’m doing it because the Conduit interests me, because it has so many secrets hidden within that I must know. Desperate to make some kind of mark, you say? Well. Aren’t you also? Isn’t that what you just said?”
“That’s what you took away from this conversation? That I’m ‘desperate’?”
“Indeed. But maybe you could show to me that you’re wrong, if you work hard.” He tried to speak over her, but Galea raised her finger again, cutting him off soundly. “No, you’re listening to me right now. This is my proposition to you; I will be your assistant, and you will prove to me that you are as good as you say. Then, and only then, will I have faith that perhaps you could save us all. That you could be the hero that you seem to be dreaming of being.”
Klaus’s eyebrows drew together, but he didn’t seem displeased. After a moment of what seemed like pure shock, he began to laugh, genuinely. Frowning, Galea said, “I don’t see the joke.”
“I’m not the only one they gossip about in this base, you realise,” Klaus said, shaking his head. “But perhaps they were wrong, or simply shallow. I heard you were cold, stony, even. Some even called you robotic in your methods, but from what I see now, that it is untrue. You wish to share the Conduit with me? Then you need to prove something to me also. Prove to me that you’re just as worthy, and perhaps I might consider the idea that we could be able to carve out a path to a new future together.”
Galea looked back across the lake, so still, so quiet. The sun sat in its lofty throne, perfectly circular, a beacon for their earth. A sign, she thought, of better days to come. “So it is to be a challenge then, one to another? Your arrogance is as they say.”
“Arrogance?” She could hear the smirk in his voice. “How amusing. I heard many use the same word to describe you. Perhaps we’re not so different as I first thought.”
“Give it time,” Galea said. “You will see the difference.”
“Will I? I can’t say I’m disinterested. But, for now, I think it’s time for me to go.” Klaus turned, drawing her attention back to him. He retreated away from the weeping willow, his back to her, giving a careless wave goodbye as he left. “I will meet you again, when it is time for us to do our work. You’ve spoken a big game now, so, don’t let me down, Galea.”
“The same to you, Klaus,” she replied. The lake rippled in the breeze as she looked back to it, tucking a lock of silver hair back behind her ear. Their war was one they had to win, competition or no.
Alone, or together, it mattered not.
--
He looked at her like he had that day, as if he was laying his eyes on her for the first time all over again. Blue-on-blue, human-to-human, flesh-to-flesh. He was gold, and she was silver, contrasting colours on the wheel of their world, opposite sides of the shoreline, opposite sides of their war. Her tears threatened to fall, but she did not let them.
Not yet.
“You would call me that, after everything?” she said. “I cast that woman out to sea as you so carelessly abandoned your past to rot. Do not invoke that name now, after I tried so hard to reach out to you. Do not speak to me so plainly, when you tore it all from me. I offered you peace, and you ripped it apart with your own hands.”
“Then you would prefer ‘Meyneth’?” Zanza asked. He looked so out of place, standing there like that in his human guise. The last time she’d seen him, his expression had been twisted with mania, his voice warped with delusional hatred. “You do not look very much like her to me, though.”
Something was wrong here. She searched him for any hint of a Monado, but there was no such weapon in sight. “This is treacherous, even for you. Appearing as you are, speaking to me this way—you revel in the fact that you’re breaking my heart.”
“That’s not true.” Zanza cast his gaze downwards, taking a single step across the sand. She took one backwards in response, and then another, her heels burying themselves beneath the grains as she wrapped her arms around herself. “Listen to me, Meyneth, Galea, whoever you wish to be in this moment. This is not your world, or mine, because those children you believed in succeeded. Your wish has been realised. They remade the world with their own desires, they cast out my twisted form and denied all gods.”
“How can I believe you?” Meyneth asked him. “When all has come to pass before, when you forced me into battle against you again and again, why would I believe a single word from your mouth?”
He stopped in his approach, closing his eyes. “I understand if you would hate me, for everything I’ve done.”
Hate? It wasn’t the right word for the way she felt. There was no word that could quite encapsulate the spectrum of emotions that she felt whenever Zanza entered her field of vison. They had clashed for lifetimes, sword against sword, collision in a thousand forms, a thousand conflicts.
“If what you speak is truth, then prove it.” Meyneth said.
“As someone once told me, seeing is very much believing,” Zanza said. He made a grand gesture towards the dying sun in the sky, a sweep of his arm. “The Conduit is gone. That boy, Shulk—his actions saw it so. What we are now, I couldn’t tell you, but we’re no longer the gods we once posed as. I believe—I believe that we’ve been reborn anew, one last time, in response to our own wishes, but that is mere hypothesis. I only know what my wish was, after all.”
She looked up at the sun. It did look like the Conduit, and it burned as brightly as it once had in the laboratories. “So if I am to believe what you say, then you are not Zanza. Is that it?”
“It would be easier to say yes,” Zanza said. “But it would also be a lie, and I can hardly hide from the blame that I deserve. I am recomplete. That day, when I made my decision, when I pressed that button, the Conduit tore my soul in two. Some of me ended up with you, in that world. I only regret that it was the worst of me.”
“Stop this,” Meyneth said. “You speak of another world? That you could possibly have—”
“It is a gateway. A gateway that will take us to an entirely new world!”
“You were right,” Zanza was looking up towards the Conduit-shaped sun for himself when she turned back, bathed in its light. “A meta-universe manifold. That was what you called it.  And it was. It opened up so many possibilities, but I never should have done it. I awoke in pieces on the floor of the Rhadamanthus, half of me lost to your world, half of me still on that station. My decision was wrong. I know that now.”
She remembered the day she awoke too, the day she turned to the man she loved and saw only that crazed look in his eyes. “You never wanted peace,” she said. “First, you wanted heroism and glory. Then, you wanted immortality and devotion. You chose that over everything, even when I tried to stop you! You chose that over me.”
“I never forgot,” Zanza said. He approached anew, and she didn’t step back this time. “I never forgot your voice, how you shouted that day, how you told me to stop. I never forgot how frightened you sounded, or how tightly you held onto me. And part of me, the worst part, Zanza, he used that to fuel his hatred towards you. But me…”
“But you?” Meyneth stepped forwards now, the distance between them getting smaller. “Speak, Zanza. Respond to me.”
“My name is Klaus,” he said. “An arrogant man who thought he could change the future. A lonely fool who awoke to the knowledge that he’d sentenced everyone on the Rhadamanthus to death, a pathetic god who screamed your name over and over, hoping you would come and find me. I could see you through the link I shared with my body in your world. I knew everything he was doing, and I couldn’t stop him. He was me. I was him. And yet I could do nothing but wait and hope that someone would put us down. I carried the guilt of what I did for a millennia, waiting, waiting, constantly dreaming that I could one day see you again for myself.”
He closed his eyes, head ducked down low, hands in fists at his side. The Conduit’s sun grew dimmer still, the colours of the sky fading. What happened when it went out? Would their brief meeting come to an end?
Their lives were linked in the light of the Conduit. It was through it they had been reborn, been changed, been shaped. Klaus and Galea. Zanza and Meyneth. The same souls, different aliases. Humans and Gods, what became of them when there was nothing left?
Her voice would not come to her. Her mind would not work. It grew dimmer, and dimmer, and yet she didn’t know what to do.
--
In the light of the Conduit, brilliant and blinding, they kissed for the first time.
There was nobody around to see them, nobody around to interrupt. Most of the Rhadamanthus’ staff were tucked away in their dorms, and it was only Klaus and Galea left in the lab. One thing had led to another, and now she had her back against the window of stars while their lips chased one another in hungry desperation.
She wrapped her arms around his shoulders, pushing further into him. He pushed back, his arms around her waist, their bodies pressed so tightly together that they were almost one. The solar system was their single witness as they abandoned their work for only each other, desperate and passionate. Planets watched, their legacy to come remembered by them and them alone.
Her hands found his hair. His held onto her hips. She’d never intended for things to go this way. What had started as simple rivalry had progressed into friendship, into late-night drinks and research. Travelling to the station beyond the stars had intensified things, their quarters now closer than ever before, their time spent mostly with each other.
For what felt like hours they simply existed to express their love, surfacing for air only to return once more. She was starving for him as he was her, and it was only later, when they finally tired, that she said, “I want to be with you, Klaus.”
“When the war is over,” he said, holding her close. “When we’ve unlocked the secrets of the Conduit and saved humanity, then we can do this right.”
“Are we not already?” she asked, touching her fingertips to her swollen lips. “I don’t think I’ve ever been happier than this moment. I don’t think I’ve ever been happier than when I’m with you.”
“No, that’s not what I mean.” Klaus rested his forehead against hers. “I want to take you to dinner, or to make you dinner. I want to take you home and sleep in the same bed as you. I want to be yours, to make a thousand memories with you.”
“We can start now,” Galea said, looking directly into his eyes, drowning in the depths. “Right this moment. I don’t want to be apart from you, not now, not ever. I want to hold onto you forever, not just in my memories. I want to do something fun. Can we dance?”
“Dance?” Klaus blinked, his surprise endearing. “But we have no music.”
“We need no music.” She pulled back from him and took his hand. “Sweep me off my feet. Prove to me that your head isn’t only for science.”
Ever one to rise to the challenge, Klaus took the lead. Clumsy as he was, he was enthusiastic, the two of them clasping hands in a not-entirely dreadful imitation of a ballroom dance. Around and around they went, momentum shared, joined in a union of movement that had her grinning, that had his eyes focused on her like she was all that existed in that moment. Perhaps they were all that existed. In her wildest dreams, she imagined a place for them, and them alone, untouched by war and fear, untouched by death and destruction.
“So do you believe in me now?” Klaus asked as they continued their duet, lab coats drifting with their movement. “That my head isn’t only for science?”
He dipped her low. She looked up at him, smiling. “I see it for myself, don’t I?”
So they went. So they carried on. And if she’d dared look away, dared catch sight of herself in the window’s reflection, she might have seen a future echoed in the mirror, illuminated by the Conduit itself.
A god dressed in golden tones dancing with a goddess made of steel, hand in hand, face to face. Their lips touched anew, and in the window, conflict sparked; but for Galea, all she knew in that moment was love.
--
“This burden is mine to bear,” Zanza said. “Everything that happened to our world. Everything that happened to you. Everything I put the innocent through.”
Meyneth turned her head, looking behind her to where the sea continued to roll on in. How unassuming it was, to not know of the conflict within her heart, to not understand and respond to her thoughts, her feelings. The sky had morphed into dusky tones, violets and emeralds and scarlets. She had the feeling they were running out of time, but she couldn’t explain why.
“You said you have a hypothesis,” she said, still looking out over that deep blue. “You believe the Conduit granted us one last wish each?”
“It is what I did for the world I came from,” Zanza replied. “After I had given up hope, a boy came to me with his friends and showed me there was still more to life than death. Perhaps the Conduit took pity on us. I for one know I’m pitiable.”
Such fascinating words coming from the mouth of the god who had decried anything that came beneath him. “Then what was your wish?”
“Have I not already told you?” His tone spoke volumes of his surprise. “It was to see you one last time, Galea. To beg your forgiveness.”
“Prove it to me,” she whispered. “Prove that you’re not him. Prove to me that you’re Klaus, not Zanza.”
“Done,” he said, and she heard his voice shatter on that single word. “I love you, Galea, more than the earth, more than the stars, more than anything. And I was wrong to choose the Conduit over you, I was wrong to submit us to destruction, and though I know forgiveness is out of reach for me, I needed to tell you that I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry.”
Finally, her tears ran free. She blinked hard as they ran down her cheeks, and, cruel illusion or no, she could hold it back no longer. He was right there, the man she’d searched for in the eyes of a crazed god, looking at her like she was the world, and it broke her in two. She ran to him, arms outstretched, and he caught her as she collided with him. Together, they went down in the sand with a whumph, a flutter of coats and a mess of sobs. He pressed his lips to hers, and she let him in, responding lightly, her hands shaking as she clung to his back, his fingers gripping the back of her coat just as tightly.
“I searched for you within him for so long,” she said as they broke apart, as she buried her head into the crook of his neck. She shook off Meyneth like a snake shedding skin, searching deep within herself for the woman she might once have been. “Take me back to the start, Klaus. Let us begin again.”
“I would give anything to do that,” he said. The sky darkened further overhead. “But I fear this is all the time we have left.”
“No,” Galea lifted her head to look him in the eye. “If we are to be reborn again in the light of the Conduit or not, know that I will find you, no matter what it takes, because I never stopped searching, not even in our darkest hours.”
“And I will find you, Galea,” he said, one hand brushing against her hair. He closed his eyes and smiled. “This breeze. It’s nice, isn’t it?”
Breathless, tearful, Galea found it in her to smile; genuine and true. Her words echoed his of countless years ago. “I hadn’t noticed—but now you’ve said, I can see the appeal.”
The sun continued to die. The sky grew darker still, the colours fading from sight one-by-one, yet it mattered not to the lovers who had reunited in their final moments. They remained amidst the grains of sand, hand-in-hand, awaiting the end.

Mikaelson Bestie
Tumblr media
Request from @sessa23 The reader gets stood up on a date so her best friend Rebekah decides to help her have some fun.
Wiping away tears I down another shot of alchohol needing to get rid of the horrible feeling. The Grill's door gets kicked open for me to whip my head around to see Rebekah storm up to me. "I've been calling your phone for an hour wanting to know how the date went." Matt comes around the corner seeing the broken door running his hand through his hair. "Rebekah seriously the door." Rebekah flips her blonde hair snapping at the blonde quarterback she fancies. "I'll fix the bloody door later Matty. Y/n my bestie needs me right now." She gives him a look that said leave us and he goes.
She brushes my hair seeing my face red from tears eyeing the twelve shot glasses in front of me. "Us girls have to stick together, always and forever. Now let's talk about how you want this bloody idiot to suffer." I released a sniffled laugh at my best friend and she lightly smiled back. "1 is compel him to act like...say a chicken, 2 drain him of his blood, or 3 go to say Las Vegas and get drunk on alchohol or fresh blood. I'd even be up to doing all three if that'll make you happy."
I'd met the Mikaelson girl at the Mikaelson's ball after being spun into her brother Klaus's arms until she pulled me in so we could dance silly together. She's always wanted a sister and ever since that day we've been insuperable, almost always together. Since I'm human she's slightly jealous of everything I can do that she can't. But I'm more jealous of all abilities she got with being an Original vampire. So whenever one of us wants to do something the other will go along without a second thought.
Tonight I just wanted to drink my feelings away and so she joined in. "Bex look who I am?" I questioned stumbling ontop of the bar tables a drink in my right hand. "I am stronger than anything and can control everyone." I mock her brother Nik who I secretly have a crush on while I howl to the ceiling. She takes a long sip from an open wine bottle in her hand. "Obviously my narsastic brother Klaus." I pointed a finger at her taunting her throwing back my like 20th shot.
"Nah, nah, you mean you're hot narsastic brother Bex." My cheeks flushed when she teases me playfully. "Sounds to me my bestie has it bad for my bad boy brother." I misstep down from the table but she vamps catching me before I hit the floor. "Okay I think that's enough for tonight Y/n." I throw my head back winning like a child once I'm on my feet once more with her arm over my shoulder helping me. "Please don't tell Nikky what I said Bex, pleassse!"
She shakes her head thinking of a revenge plan for us and Klaus to take action on tomorrow. Rebekah hadn't told you yet that her brother was fancying over you quite a lot. That he'll make this boy named Lucas pay for ever hurting you. "Don't worry my sweet bestie. It'll be our little secret. But mark my word we'll cause him pain tomorrow." We ended up back at the mansion Klaus opened the door before I collapsed into his arms. He picked me up bridal style and I snuggled into his embrace passing out from all the drinks.
"Sister why does she smell of alcohol?" Rebekah brushed your hair back eyeing her brother with an annoyed face. "Some bloody moron named Lucas stood her up, Nik. But don't worry I assured her we'd get revenge." Klaus smiled at his sister wanting to make her best friend happy. "I vow that no one will ever hurt you again, love. It's a promise Y/n." Klaus whispered planting a kiss to your hair both siblings leaving you too sleep in the guest room.

extra long tag game (a guide to all unnecessary knowledge of me)
tagged by: @txtdiaries (ily lana)
tagging: @pxppinstars @txtdream @lavenderlattaes @soobindipity (feel free to ignore if you’ve already done this or just can’t be bothered)
ONE
tell me the first song that made you stan your current fave group and why did your faves attract you so much?
Um okay so I’ll go with explaining BTS and TXT I guess, haha. For BTS it was DNA! That was the first mv I ever saw by them and I was instantly obsessed with everything about it. For TXT, it was obviously Crown since I was keeping an eye on them as soon as BH announced a new group haha. But I initially loved the super bright and happy concept from Crown and they totally got me hooked by their personalities and other music!!
TWO
rule: answer the ten questions and write your own!
what’s your unrealistic goal for life?
married by 23, kids by 25...I’m 19 and I’ve never even had a boyfriend so I would be shocked if I actually got this lmao
if you had known that we would be in a global pandemic, what’s one thing that you would’ve done before things shut down (if they have for you)?
Honestly, I can’t think of anything other than spending more time with my roommate who I miss so so much.
what’s an unconventional thing that you carry around with you when you go out?
I wouldn’t usually call this unconventional but right now I’d say my student ID since it’s useless as I’m not going back to campus
favourite type of plushies and why?
I love teddy bears. I have two that I sleep with every night! One is a gift I got for preschool graduation (eloquently named Teddy) and the other is my iron man build a bear that my uncle bought me to cope with Endgame.
favourite song right now?
I am notoriously bad at answering this question so I’ll just say that at the moment I’ve been listening to Red Desert by 5sos a lot.
something that you’ve always wanted to learn?
I’ve always wanted to learn how to play drums and any language other than English haha
tell a funny story about yourself (or just something that you’ve witnessed)
This took way more digging in my mind than I would like to admit but when I saw 5sos live in 2016 my best friend and I had soundcheck, so we got to sit in the venue early and ask them questions and hear a few extra songs. At the time I had beef with Luke Hemmings (because the girl he was dating at the time was one of the most toxic people on earth) and he wouldn’t break up with her. So the girl sitting next to me at soundcheck raised her hand to ask Luke a question so of course he was looking basically right at me. We were like maybe 8 rows back from the stage and at this point in my life I had bright pink hair, so there was no missing me. So this girl is asking her innocent question, and naturally Luke looks around a bit and we make eye contact and instead of fangirling like a normal person, my anger at him boiled over and I ended up flipping him off. The whole band noticed and had to pretend they weren’t laughing at the oddly aggressive 9th grader who flipped off their lead singer. I still feel bad about it to this day lmao but all my friends think it’s hilarious and it’s definitely my go to party story.
headphones or speakers? why?
headphones all the way. Speakers only if I’m showering.
craving any food right now? what are you craving?
Surprisingly I’m not craving anything but that’s because I just ate dinner 10 minutes ago
which music streaming platform do you prefer? why?
Spotify all the way
ten questions (by lana, answered)
1. what is your favorite movie of all time?
This is such a hard question for me. I’m so bad at picking favorites. But I’d have to say it’s sort of a tie between Heathers, Brave and Iron Man 2
2. describe your childhood in three words
Disney, animals, comforting
3. Favorite holiday?
Halloween forever and always
4. Favorite vacation spot?
Disney World! 5.What do you think of the education system? Are you a fellow slave to the GPA?
The US education system has massive holes. I was lucky enough to attend a pretty good highschool and take good classes so I don’t feel like I was as robbed as other people, but there are curriculum gaps and misinformation everywhere you go. As far as college goes, I think it is wayyyy too expensive. Despite that, I still signed myself up for 8 years of debt so yes, I am a slave to the GPA. Gotta go hard for the dream job.
6. What is your hair color? Very light blonde now, normally dirty blonde
7. What talent do you wish you had?
I wish I could draw or paint well so bad. I am so envious of artists.
8. What is your major and why? (If you’re in highschool, what do you plan on majoring in?)
I’m a biology major because I want to become a veterinarian!
9.Do you like kids or do you merely tolerate them? I love most kids. There will always be some awful ones but as a general rule I love being around kids and I definitely want some of my own!
10. Any pets?
Yep, I have five cats!
ten questions from me to you:
who is your favorite non kpop artist?
do you prefer to be warm or cool?
dream job, if you have one?
favorite TV show?
top three celebrities you would sell your soul to meet?
do you believe in ghosts?
cookies or brownies?
do you like where you live?
do you know your personality type? If so, what is it?
do you prefer floral scents or neutral scents?

The anchor part 4
Part 1  part 2   part 3  part _   Part  5
I got out of my chair drinking the rest of the blood from the blood bag. After I finished it I grabbed the candles from  the counter. I placed them on the hardwood floor in front of me.  Rebekah watched as I looked at each candle. They all of a sudden lit, making Rebekah jump, she wasn't really wasn't used to the magic being done without words, and Y/n didn't say anything when the candles were lit. "If you want you can stand in front of the candles." Y/n said looking at Rebekah. Rebekah nodded putting the glass of blood on the table and stood up. "Ester. Show yourself." Y/n said after she started a spell in Latin. "I'm here." Ester answered looking at Y/n with a small smile. "Mom." Rebekah gasped with a smile. "I'll leave you two to talk." Y/n said as she walked back to her room getting a shower.
After y/n's shower and her singing along to her music. She got out and got dressed. Wearing A black spaghetti strap  Tank top, black skinny jeans, high knee boots and her jean jacket. She did her makeup  a natural look and brushed her hair. Drying it and (Straighten/curled) her (your hair color) hair. She grabbed her phone taking it off the charger and put it in her back pocket. She grabbed her black sunglasses and went out of her room. Going back into the living room looking at Rebekah.
"So how was the talk?" I asked nicely as I grabbed a blood bag out of the fridge. Taking a few drinks of it as she looked at Rebekah. "It was good, I missed her and this helped a whole bunch. Thank you so much Y/n. For all you've done." Rebekah said hugging me. "You are truly my sister in everything, but blood." She said with a smile. "Sisters. Always and Forever." I said with a smile making her pull back she looked at me. "Always and forever."
Through out the day we went on a shopping trip around town until about dinner time when a man who looked about in his 20's came up to Rebekah and me. He was good looking and dressed nice, he had to be a Mikaelson.
Tumblr media
"Kol, what do you want? Can't you see I'm with a friend." She said a little upset he interrupted our time together. "A friend? You no doubt compelled to be your friend."  Kol replied with a teasing smirk at Y/n and Rebekka. "Well just to let you know Kol I take Vervain and no I'm not compelled to do anything. I'll see you later, Bekah." Y/n said getting up from her seat ignoring Rebekka's Protest of her leaving. But when she passed Kol. "Nice meeting you Kol." Y/n said walking away from the both of them out to her apartment. Only to be stopped by a handsome looking man with to seems to be his brother no doubt.
I was walking when I was stopped by Rebekah's siblings Klaus and Elijah. I have neve met them but Rebekah told me to try to stay away from them they caused trouble. Well other than The Nobel one, Elijah.
Tumblr media
"You are Y/n, Yes?" Elijah asked while I looked at the two. "Yes and who might you two be?" I asked since I have never met them. "I'm Elijah this is my brother Niklaus." Elijah introduces to you. "So we noticed you have been around our sister an awful lot lately. She tells us you are her friend. So like if you would join us in our family's ball?" Niklaus asked handing the invitation to her. "I will  have to see. I don't think I have a dress." I replied to Both of them. "Well no doubt Rebekah will bring you to go shopping." Elijah said with a polite smile. I smiled back at them. "Of course we will go shopping for a dress!" Rebekah exclaimed looking at her best friend. "Well then I guess I will see you to at the ball." Y/n said with a polite smile. Klaus and Elijah smiled looking at Y/n, "We will see you tomorrow." Elijah said taking her hand and kissing the back of it. Klaus doing the same, but giving her a smirk as he left, making her blush. (Well, she would if she wasn't dead lol).
"Now we go shopping!" Rebekah beamed as she grabbed Y/ns hand pulling her out the door. "We're taking my car." y/n started as they went down the last flight of stairs. "I don't feel like walking all day." Y/n said, making Rebekah laugh.
Going through the shops they made it to a fancy dress store. They had all types of dresses. Long dresses, short dresses, knee length. Black dresses, red dress, all kinds of dresses. They even have shoes to match the dresses, along with some jewelry.
Rebekah and I looked around for a while trying to find us a dress. She had already tried on some, by the time I found one I though would look good on me. "If I don't think so myself, I think I'll have to lock myself in my room. You're to gorgeous for me to try to keep up." Y/n teased the blonde vampire. "Well I cant help I am just that beautiful." Rebekah played along flipping her blonde hair. Y/n playfully rolled her (Your eye color) eyes as she looked at Rebekah. "Have you picked out a dress?" Rebekah asked looking at Y/n. She nodded as she held up a rose gold lace ball gown that fit her perfectly. "Go try it on, I'm gonna get out of this dress." Rebekah said with a smile. Y/n nodded going into the dressing room and tried it on.
Y/n Dress-

Rebekah's dress-
Tumblr media
"Oh my god." Rebekah said as she watched her bestfriend walk out of the dressing room. "Does it look bad?" Y/n asked looking down at the dress then back to her friend. "Of course not! You look perfect!" Rebekah said looking at Y/n in awe. "I know someone who is going to love the dress on you too." Rebekah teased with a smirk. Y/n looked at her confused. "His name starts with a k and he happens to be my brother." Rebekah started. "I don't like Kol." Y/n laughed looking at Rebekah through the Long mirror. "God, I'm talking about Niklaus!" Rebekah laughed looking at Y/n. "I know, I was just picking at you, but he doesn't like me. I think he has his eyes on other people." Y/n said looking up at Rebekah with a long face. "Whatever you say, love. I know what I said is true." Y/n rolled her eyes playfully and went back to the dressing room. Taking the dress off and getting back dressed.
After that her and Rebekah checked out buying the dresses and went back to Y/n's house.
She tried on a rose gold lace dress that fit her beautify. She loved it so did Rebekka so they checked out and went to Taylors Apartment since it was time to get dressed.
The next day the two took the whole day preparing for the ball. Y/n got a shower and did her make up and hair. Rebekah was getting dressed at her house while Y/n was getting ready at hers. She wanted it to be a surprise to everyone of what she looked like. She got in her car and drove down the road to the Mikaelson mansion.
Once she got their she was companied by Rebekah, Kol and Elijah. Y/n just stood there observing the ball. She had never been to a dance before. She either had to work or Matt wouldn't let her go. She jumped when Klaus caught her off guard and touched her lower back. "Would you care for a dance?" Klaus asked politely. Y/n smiled looking down at her feet. "Sure, but I must warn you I've never danced before." She replied making the hybrid chuckle. He pulled her to the middle of the floor and lifted her by her hips. Placing her feet over top of his and danced to the music. "Good thing you don't have to dance then." He said as he started swaying to the soft music. Y/n smiled looking at the original hybrid. "You look beautiful." Klaus said with a smile. "Thank you, you look nice too." She replied giving Klaus a small flirty smile.
After a couple songs she left to get something to drink. When she came back she didn't see any of the mikealson's which worried her. She looked around but could see them.  With her vamp hearing she heard screaming, Rebekah,  it was Rebekah screaming. She ran to them and saw Ester. She had all the Siblings trapped. So Y/n did a spell to knock down the fire. Siphoning the magic from the earth.  She did a spell that made all of Esters magic useless. Doing this gave Klaus a chance to kill Ester. He ran to her in a un-human way and snapped her neck.
When he snapped her neck he looked at me. He looked confused then I felt my self me Vamp-speed backwards, only to be slammed against a tree. Kol was holding me against the tree with his hand wrapped around my neck. He held me there in till I found enough strength to push him off me. At first he was shocked then came at me again this time I snapped his neck makin everyone else chuckle.
"So, love what are you?" Klaus asked walking towards me.. "A Tri-brid."
"How are you a tri- brid?" Klaus asked walking up to Y/n.  Y/n looked at the hybrid as she started to reply.
“Damon Salvatore killed me While I was the anchor. When I died I went to the other side. Your mom, Ester told me I was part witch then she said the only way to bring me back was to turn me so she gave me her blood and snapped my neck. She fed me her blood when she was done. Then I came back to life." Y/n explained as she looked around and saw Everyone shocked other than Rebekah. "Are you a danger to us?" Kol asked studying Y/n. "No, nobody knows I'm alive, other than y'all and whoever sees me here." Y/n said and looked towards Rebekah. She looked like she was in pain. "Bex are you okay?" Y/n asked concerned. Rebekah looked like she was going to pass out. "Yeah um.. I think there's something in my back." Rebekah said. Y/n walked around to see a stake in her back. Y/n grabbed it and pulled it out.  Rebekah automatically started to heal.
After all that fun stuff of explaining everything y/n left their house and started to walk out to her car. She made it to her car but then she heard someone behind her. She started a Spell to make any super natural creature head bust but once she turned around she saw Klaus. She stopped the spell. "Oh sorry Klaus." Y/n apologized walking towards him. "What are you doing out here?" Y/n asked while looking at the hybrid. "I've come to walk you home. But then I saw you had your car so I came to tell you good night so." Klaus said and walked closer to her.
"Good night Ms. Donovan." Klaus said kissing the back of her hand. "Good night Mr. Mikealson. Will I see you tomorrow?" She asked as she threw her Bag in the trunk of her car. "If you would like to see me tomorrow, I will diffidently make sure that happens." Klaus said looking up at the (Your eye color) eyed girl. Y/n started to realize how close they were when Klaus started to  lean in. She leaned in meeting him half way and kissed him.
The kiss was sweet and slow. She pulled back when she thought about wanting to breath. Even though as a tri-brid she was sure she didn't need the air. He looked at her with a small smile on his face which made her smile they both leaned in again and kissed. This time much more powerful. It turned to be a make out session against her car. They didn't stop for anything. Not even for air until they heard someone clear their throat. They turned and saw Kol smirking at them. "Break it up you two or get a room." Kol said smirking at the both of them which made Y/n blush. She turned away from both of the brothers.
Y/n blushed moving away from klaus with a smile. "Good night Kol, Night Klaus." Y/n said as she got into her car. "Night, Love." Klaus said as he turned to his younger brother. "Good night, Darling." Kol said and waved. Y/n started her car and drove home.
The next day.
( Klaus pov)
I woke up  thinking about Y/n. How I wish to make her mine. Something just draws her to me. I don't know what but I decided to go invite her to breakfast for the both of us. I got a shower and got dressed. After I got dressed I grabbed a blood bag from the fridge and drinked it while going to my car. I drove to her apartment and got out. I knocked on her door. When it opened I saw someone that was not Y/n, but a man. Automatically my brain tells me she was with him and the other thinks maybe its the wrong door.
"Is this Y/n apartment?" I asked looking at Stefan. " Uh, No I think you have the wrong room Klaus." Stefan said looking at me. I was about to leave when I heard some shuffling in the room then a groan I automatically knew Y/n was hurt.
"Stefan I know she's in her so move to the side before I make you." I demanded. I walked in and didn't see anything until I saw a staked Y/n in the middle of the floor of the kitchen. I thought my heart had been ripped out.
I ran over to her and saw her body was all gray. I had tears running down my face. I got up and looked at Stefan and his brother. I got up to rip their hearts out but they ran out the door. I tried to get out but some how they have a spell around the room.
I paced around the room until I heard a groan. I walked to where I heard the noise and saw Y/n had woke up. She pulled the steak out of her heart and tried to sit up. I ran over to her and ingulfed her in a huge hug. "I love you so much please never leave me ever."  I said holding Y/n in my arms.
"I wont, I promise, I love you too." She said and hugged me. I felt like my world was healed the moment she came back. I looked into her beautiful (Your eye color) eyes then they turned black. I looked at her and then she practically turned into a another person. She pushed away from me. "Niklaus, this is your mother possessing her body if you don't get your siblings and bring them here she will die, You have 30 minutes. If you don't believe." Ester said through Y/n body.  Y/n walked over and grabbed a knife and stabbed her stomach. "Let this prove to you, I mean business." Ester said.
In a flash Klaus was in His house he told everyone about what just freakin happened. Then they got Davina and did a protection spell on Y/n's soul. They were going to Stake Y/n with a white oak which would kill and destroy anything in her soul. Ester would be gone. Then Y/n would be back in a few hours. Klaus came back to Y/n apartment with all his siblings.
( Y/n POV )
I could feel Ester using my body. I knew I had a way of getting out of her other than her possessing my body. I planed on doing a spell of when she got out of my body I would Destroy her for good. Nobody would have to deal with her. I thought of a spell then remembered the one I saw a soul destroying spell in Esters grimoire. I started to chant the spell. I chanted it until somethin happened I felt my body hot like I was on fire.
( Esters POV )
I felt myself Begin to burn They really did stake her. I didn't think they had it in them to do that. But then I felt relief. I looked around and saw I was back on the other side. But as soon as I felt relief I felt the ground rumble I looked down and the earth swallowed me. I was in hell.
( Y/n POV )
I woke up to be on  a bed. I looked around and didn't relies where I was. I tried to get up but I couldn't I was to weak. But then I manifested enough strength to get up. But then I was pushed back down. I saw Klaus was beside me and I was relieved. I got up and hugged Klaus he hugged back very quickly. He leaned down and kissed me Lets just say they didn't just kiss ; )

and all the magic we made (2/?)
a/n: I’m so glad chapter one was well liked! I was having a lot of trouble writing it as usual lol but I think keeping it the way it was went well. Hopefully you all like this chapter too :)
-
No matter what the poets say, the Greeks got this one wrong - this is not how love goes.
Hayley sits against the door for hours, thinking about who she had just seen. It was Klaus Mikaelson, in the flesh - the boy who once helped her get an A in art history, the one who covered her bed with rose petals on their first anniversary, the man who left her while she was pregnant with his child -
He didn’t know about that.
The voice in her head always tries to justify her feelings towards him, but she knows she shouldn’t. He walked away and her whole world fell apart. She was alone, going through pregnancy, going through Hope’s birth, going through raising a little girl.
And all that should be enough to quiet her sense of regret.
“Mommy,” Her daughter squeaks, making her way towards her mother. “Are you sad?” she wonders, with cute little head tilted to one side.
Hayley smiles, braiding her fingers through her shinning blonde curls. “Hope,” she whispers softly, “I’m sorry I...I’m okay sweetie,” she finally says.
To her dismay, Hope looks unconvinced. “Are you crying because of the man who was at the door?” she asks.
That’s her father, Hayley finds herself realizing. And she feels stupid - all this time, she’s been thinking about herself, but how in the world was she supposed to explain this to her kid? That her father was back? That he didn’t even know about her until today?
“Come here,” Hayley opens her arms, allowing her daughter to hug her. “That man and I have a complicated relationship, it’s hard to explain,” she decides to tell her, which is probably enough for a four year old to understand.
“Well,” Hope shrugs, “Is he a bad man?” she questions again.
She takes a long breath, wondering if she should really taint her child’s image of her father even more. She wasn’t a vengeful woman - but more than that, she couldn’t lie to Hope. She deserved the truth. “It’s hard to say,” Hayley mumbles, “I don’t think so, not all bad at least,” she honestly tells her.
Hope takes a moment to think about things. In her four years, she’s learned a lot. Mostly through her mother. She’s learned to be curious and confident, to be compassionate and kind. She has learned to be there for people who need her.
So, it’s not hard for her to be there for her mother.
“If he’s making you sad then,” the little girl whispers, “I hope he never comes back,” she says.
“Me too,” Hayley nods, resting her head over her daughter’s.
-
There is a saying he knows, about love, destiny, and fate. And he can’t be too sure how it’s supposed to play out - if only they could be like the movies - where she just sees him and comes running into his arms. If only they could be like the books, where she wakes up next to him, claiming to be his other half.
He crawls into his bed - realizing just how much he still thinks of her.
“Rebekah,” Klaus finally sighs, noticing the girl beside him shuffle around in their fresh sheets. Their hotel room is small and cramped, forcing them to share a bed, just like they did back when they were kids. He wants to revel in the nostalgia of it all.
Because, despite the dark of the night, Rebekah Mikaelson remains sleepless.
Just like all those years ago.
“You’re still awake,” Klaus sings.
She pops her pretty head out from under the covers. “I wanted to know how it went,” Rebekah says. “But since you’re back so soon, I’m guessing it wasn’t good,” she concludes, offering him a whiny little pout.
“No it wasn’t,” Klaus tells her, to her dismay. “She didn’t even want to see me,” he reveals, as he pulls a pillow over his head in shame.
“Well, I expected no less,” she offers, while rolling her eyes at her brother’s antics. To think that he was actually the older one.  “You haven’t seen her in years Nik,” she reminds him.
He wonders how he should tell her about it all - about the rejection, the look in Hayley’s eyes, that kid -
“She has a child,” Klaus blurts out. “And she looks like me,” He goes on to say.
Well, that was easier to admit to her than he first thought it would be.
Maybe he’s just in shock - could things really get any worse?
“What?” Rebekah releases, widening her eyes at her brother’s statement.
He takes his time to speak again. In all her eyes, she had never knows Niklaus to be the quiet type. He could be, at times, but that just meant that he was thinking of what calculative thing to say next. He wasn’t the type to listen - to care. But, this time, she thinks that things might be different for him.
“I think...” Klaus whispers softly. “I think I have a daughter,” he mumbles quietly, almost too quiet to hear properly.
“Nik,” Rebekah exhales slowly, placing a reassuring hand on her brother’s shoulder.  “This isn’t something to joke about,” she tells him, seriously.
He pauses, meeting her gaze with a look of true fear and uncertainty in his eyes. “Sister,” he says. “I would never joke about something like this,” Klaus claims.
She hasn’t seen him look scared in a long time - the only time he acts this way is when they’re around their father. Mikael’s presence had always been unpleasant, but, since his passing, Klaus has been fearless.
Until today, that is.
“So you mean,” Rebekah speaks again, swallowing hard before she reveals. her next words. “I might be an aunt?” she questions, tears gathering at the ends of her eyes.
Klaus places his hand over hers and squeezes it tightly. “And I might be a father,” he finally realizes, sounding broken.
Had he really put Hayley through all of this? All on her own? How could he do to this? How could he not know about this? How could he just walk back into her life and expect her to forgive him?
He was going insane - with all the questions he had and how they might possibly remain unanswered forever.
He couldn’t live with that.
Their story couldn’t end here - not like this.
“So,” his sister’s faint voice pulls him out of his spiraling, just in time. “What are you going to do about all this?” she asks.
Klaus inhales a sharp breath, hands shaking with anticipation.
“I don’t know,” he honestly says, trying his best not to break down in tears next to her.  “I don’t know,” he repeats, exasperatedly.
No matter how many times he says it, he still feels the same.
He is utterly hopeless.
