I love you fics i just wanted to say🥰 Im starting your new wireless fic 2023 and it all came rushing back within 5 minutes, i binge read Nor all that Glitters and Kept in Cages nearly a year ago and now I feel like I should reread them immediately. Also Among the Elements is so very special🫠❤️🩷🧡
Thank you so much lovely anon 😭😭😭 you're so kind! My new Wireless fic is an odd one; I never expected it to be terribly popular (Draco as Christmas shop owner in small Somerset town during a heatwave - bit niche?!) but I got my confidence knocked badly early on with that fic when a couple of people I know didn't finish it. I'm lucky to be naturally pretty chill about stats, but I was a bit down IRL and almost fell into the wah wah I'm so rubbish doom spiral. Anyway! Pull yourself together, sweet, I said (well, actually @maesterchill said), and so I have. So I'm really really especially glad you like this one in particular, and that you thought to let me know!! I like it, it's quite a busy fic but it came out as I wanted - and besides, it has brilliant art by Joy and what I think is some pretty decent smut.
Waking Up Slow (E, 22k)
Among the Elements (M, 8k)
Kept in Cages (E, 77k)
Nor All That Glisters (E, 111k)

I don’t usually make posts like this, but I’ve been seeing a lot of anti-intellectual junk lately, and I really think we need to put the word “pretentious” up on a shelf until people learn what it actually means.
It doesn’t describe someone who likes artsy-fartsy deep meaning media. People who are pretentious are fake. They’re posers trying to be sophisticated and unique, not like other girls. They pretend to only like stuff they think will make them sound cool when they talk about it. They want to act like they know something you don’t, and they want attention for it.
By definition, if you genuinely enjoy something, you can’t be pretentious. If it resonates with you, and you analyze it, and you don’t care what people think, that’s the polar opposite, actually. If you love obscure experimental prog music, if you watch underground high concept indie films through English teacher eyes, if you spend hours in a modern art museum reading each piece as a vessel for storytelling, if your backpack’s full of poetry books that inspire you, if you play underrated games that were someone’s passion project, if you have an interest in studying the classics or the masters, you are not pretentious.
Of course, some people just don’t like some stuff, and that’s fine, but that’s not what this is about. Don’t let anti-intellectuals shame you for enjoying things just because your interests are inaccessible to them, because they refuse to be brave and put effort into critical thinking. You’re not stuck up for refusing to overlook the craft of artists.

Funny how people have been saying that Steve is the big brother Max deserves, but when Max dies he has literally no reaction. He just stands there and listens to the clock chime, along with Nancy and Robin. As if he doesn’t even care. Max sacrificed herself for them and died and they express no grief at all, and I’m pretty sure it’s Nancy who says anything. Yet when Billy thought Max might be in danger at the Byers, he got so protective of her that he was willing to fight someone he wanted to be friends with. He spent the last week complimenting Steve and showing off in front of him, but he didn’t hesitate to beat his ass for putting his sister in harm's way. Who really deserves to be her brother?
Even once Max is in the hospital and they’ve had a little time to process what happened to her and visit, Steve is even more uncaring. He’s somewhere else smiling and playing matchmaker as if the kid he babysat for three years isn’t across the room bawling his eyes out because someone close to him died in his arms. Do you really think Steve still gives two shits about Max in this scene when he can’t even bother with Dustin?
Meanwhile Billy was so torn up that Max hated him (and started mirroring his abusive father) that he spent at least a month trying to figure out how to talk to her. Before the snowball he looks so sad because he knows he fucked up their relationship, and not even on purpose. And then, according to Dacre, between s2 and s3 he’s really trying to be the best brother to her he can and be a better person in general. And their relationship was improving! If Max died you bet your ass Billy wouldn’t just forget about her. He was her brother, not some random older guy she hardly knew who had a hero complex and saved her just to ease his own worries and then moved on with his life. I don’t agree with that characterization of Steve but that’s what the Duffers gave us.
Out of the two, who really cared about Max? That would be her real brother, thank you.

haha oh no im definitely not at all disturbed by the prevalence of leftists on all platforms who are loudly 'anti-genocide' when it comes to the palestinian cause (and a couple others at best :3c) yet the only time ukraine [ʊkrɐˈjinɐ] leaves their mouths is in critique, in stark comparison to the former or in complaint about their (american) government sending aid.
at first what i saw often was pointing out the differences in western media framing [ukraine vs palestine], and that's fair (until the words and the agenda of western journalists are used to paint, as a whole, ukrainians who have been actively going through genocide as some kind of white supremacists hogging the blanket of global attention when they kinda just want to live and have the rights to their own land, culture, names and families)
but no one is even caring to do that anymore, today bitches just invent metaphorical scenarios and people to get mad at and to throw an entire ethnos away because wahhhh i decided that you care for X but not for Y!!!.... all while doing the exact thing they are condemning. the exact absolute same and they don't even hide it but do lack the self-awareness to realise

make the sphere poll!
okay! here goes
elaborate on context in the tags, if you like (did you watch it in an educational context? did a friend show it to you? did you stumble upon it alone, in a late-night youtube binge kept secret from your parents?)

sooo none of the ship channels on my fandom discord have gotten a single post in them for two weeks but this week a decent amount of people (presumably including many not on the server) voted in a twitter poll asking about the same ships, and my extreme extreme wish for more people to talk to them about is causing me to consider dropping an invite on twitter even though twitter feels like the damn wild west and i really need to not, like, have strangers join and then post lolisho or start talking about how hot Nanch is or something
we have some clearly written out rules so i could simply ban (or warn if mild/mistake) someone who doesn't understand them. i know this. but this stupid fandom gives me so much anxiety (it's not like there have been that many rude people and i know it all roots back to the ff.n harassment campaign when i was 13 lol but still.) my loneliness at almost no one to talk to about my favorite ships in english is directly battling out my anxiety. lol maybe someone should just tell me to go ahead and post the link

im not particularly into romantic ships !! (but i like contributing 2 ask games) sooo hmm... whats ur favorite canon friendship or dynamic ? or one u'd like to see in jjba?
Don't worry- I like this ask too.
I wouldn't say I have one canon (non-romantic) character dynamic in particular that I would consider my favorite, but I can list a few of them in no particular order:
-Polnareff and Abdul (I also think the ship is pretty cute)
-Diavolo and Doppio (I find this one the most fun to think & talk about for obvious reasons)
-Trish and Bruno
-Yasuho and Josuke (8) (this one was sort of implied-romantic, but I'll count it)
-Josuke (4) and Okuyasu
-Jolyne, Foo Fighters & Hermes
I also really would've liked to see what an interaction between Doppio and Trish would've looked like- both of them were criminally underused and it's a shame.
I get very excited about character dynamics, but I don't really care much for romantic ships myself either. When I say I "like" a ship, most of the time what I mean by that is if a mutual or friend is into it, I'll nod and give a thumbs up from the sidelines or maybe think "oh, that's kind of cute, sure". The only times I get the "shippy" feelings that I assume are the main appeal of shipping is if I care about one or preferably both characters very, very much, which just doesn't happen often. (Also, I get kind of irrationally territorial about characters I care about to that level, so I'd probably only trust ship art from me and a few people lol.)

Deeply pissed off by accusatory and condescending ask. You're free to correct me but not lecture me. I'm a person with triggers too. Entirely too exhausted to even figure out what you're saying with two essay length asks that equate mental illness stigma with genocidal colonization and also acting like my mutual doesn't have schizophrenia themselves. Please unfollow if you can't explain things without sending me condescending missives about how you're disappointed in me and I should know better and I post "deeply harmful" tags. I am too busy scraping the bottom of the barrel to live up to whatever standards of moral social justice behaviour you think I should follow. I am also utterly traumatized by my 17 years in the psychiatric complex, I am also in a mental health crisis and struggling with bipolar. Neither I nor my OCD appreciate it.
Edit: okay nevermind, after seeing what this person reblogged in response to my mutual's post I have blocked them. Holy shit the vitriol and name-calling. Absolutely no.

not to complain abt a thing every pokemon fan and their mom has complained about but man i just realized another reason why not putting the battle frontier in oras was a failure of a decision- because the next game, sumo, and its postgame kinda hinges on you already knowing who anabel is, and i think a good chunk of the fandom either didnt know or didnt recognize her at all because the last time she appeared was in the deep postgame a game that had come out nearly a decade before. so having the battle frontier, or at least the frontier brains, in oras would have reminded the audience and told new fans who anabel was and given us a reason to care about her

ahem. so i think one of the fundamental root causes of all the arguments i've had with zombiefied fandom loser people on here over the years is that there are large groups of individuals who form these Do What You Like happiness quicksand pits who will fight tooth and nail for people to have fun and exist equally among others in a guilt free, problem free, persecution free echo chamber where they've become addicted to this like slow drip of constant fandom content. so anything they don't like is negative and anyone who doesn't like those things are "antis" and they're happy living and prancing around together just coming off as a bunch of fucking tools bc they would rather live with toxic spores and rot in their communities than have like one serious discussion and have to yank their heads out of the sand for ONE second.
and these types of people will again fundamentally consider the hypothetical of someone being called like OLD or a mean name or insinuating that they "can't have fun in fandom" worse than someone being a predator, exhibiting predatory behaviour or getting off on content that commodifies people's trauma, exploits personal identity and outright sexualises children and adolescents and MORE. like any real life normal human being would be able to see the difference but they're too genuinely chronically online to be able to tell the difference.
like very recently a couple fandom accounts on twitter were called out for liking absolutely RANCID shit down to grooming and pedophilic fetishisation?, lesbians being noncon'd by men and "liking it", outrightly transphobic trans fetishism porn written by cisgender people for the benefit of OTHER cisgender people, making explicit content about minors INCLUDING artwork that depicts real life children in sexual scenarios (which is literally fucking illegal where i live like as in a 15 year sentence.) and various other pretty typical shit including racist behaviour and the response by the "fandom" wasn't "oh this is bad. we should block these people and condemn their actions because i do not align myself with this at all" it was "guys that was mean!!! let's be nice okay 🥺 this drama is making me upset i just wanna have fun with my friends i don't care if they like these things" and they made a fucking positivity account to parody it 😭 some people were more mad that the callout page was anonymous than they were about the actual content bc they weren't being transparent???. i genuinely don't know what has to go wrong in ur life for u to end up this way but fuck i hope online fandom burns to the ground a03 gets taken offline forever and anyone who even says the word "but it's fiction" gets shot in the head point blank and twitter dies faster

i absolutely get where that “all your fave fics were written by middle aged women” post is coming from wrt how women are treated in fandom as they age but like having followed a lot of the writers i was reading stories by back in the day ik for a fact that at the time most of my faves were written by ppl who were like 25 - 35 at the time lmao

randomly remembered the fandom wide disappointment after mister impossible came out and started laughing bc what was that even about. every single post i saw from somebody who didn't like the book was like 'but what about adam' and don't get me wrong i love adam he's my favourite but also why did people expect him to be there? he is not the main character of the trilogy. ronan and hennessy are. but then again there were also some people on the other end of the spectrum who were like 'oh but the book totally sufered middle book syndrome and the plot didn't progress at all in a meaningful way, adam's two minute appearance was the only saving grace' and my dudes. my guys. what
