The idea that some fans have that the Eras concert film experience should have the same film etiquette as say something like Barbie is wild to me. It’s a concert film that is explicitly encouraging audience participation and not a “serious” piece of cinema that you sit in silence and watch for three hours. Theaters host screenings of concert films and movies that promote audience participation all the time so it’s not like this is something they’re not prepared for. As long as you’re not constantly screeching and invading the space of the people around you, there shouldn’t be any issues; just follow the vibe that’s been set and be respectful.

sigh someone on twitter extolled the virtues of furiosa and said it was better than fury road. I just saw furiosa. they are wrong.
#the brilliant thing about MMFD was how it needed no backstory.#it required no explanation of who these people were or why they wanted what they wanted#that story gripped you by the throat and pulled you along for the ride and by god you took it#bleh. also I didn't really care for the numbered parts of the story that communicated the passage of time#I guess that's where the “saga” came in but I do think one of my favorite parts of MMFD was that...#it was a contained storyline! there were clearly so many other parts/facets of that world we didn't see#but we didn't need to see them becasue that wasnt the story that film was telling#and I feel like ... I dunno. MMFD was perfect. furiosa was not perfect. furiosa was not needed?#we already knew enough from MMFD about why furiosa had wound up as an imperator#seeing the full story I genuinely don't feel like I gained anything new about her and her character#everything we watch her become (or even begin as) in furiosa... all of it is apparent in MMFD#idk this movie felt extraneous. bummer!#good news is i was really worried about ATJ playing furiosa but she did fine. i have no complaints about her!#anyways anyone who wants to discuss come hit me up in the comments or reblogs or askbox whatever#I wish to dig into this lol#man that tweet got my hopes up. but i did not have the reaction to this that i wanted to have#when i saw MMFD in theaters it was a religious experience. that movie rewired my brain. So today was my first day teaching an after school elective theater class (10+ 2nd 3rd 4th grade girls) and holy shit y'all I have even more respect for teachers now than ever before because that was BRUTAL lmao it was like they could smell my fear and knew they could trample all over me. Maybe my viewpoint is skewed, seeing as I was a really meek, easygoing kid at that age, but I can't fathom just...blatantly ignoring the teacher when they tell you not to do something. I get theater is a bit more loosey goosey but damn I can't imagine treating any of my past theater teachers (or any adult for that matter) with such disregard. Hoping that they were just crazy because it was their first day back at school after summer break and they'll mellow out a tiny bit by next week.
There were two super sweet and responsible 4th graders that I'm probably going to have to lean on to get through to some of their classmates. Like appoint them "team leaders" or whatever.
Either way, no more Ms. Pushover next Wednesday--Miss Helen is gonna lay down the fucking LAW lol I'm going to print out a set of class rules and expectations and have the kids repeat them back to me, and I may invest in a fucking whistle to cut through how loud they can get. If any of y'all have a background in teaching or otherwise dealing with large groups of children, feel free to drop any tips or suggestions you might have to get a handle on a rowdy crowd of munchkins and gremlins without yelling or being overly strict.
#I lose almost all patience as soon as I can tell a child is fucking with me lol#like if they're genuinely confused or anxious#I'm usually very patient#but man there were a couple kids who are the physical embodiment of the worst traits of adhd#speaking as someone who has it#but not the physical part#I've never been physically hyper or restless#it's just my brain going at 100 miles an hour all the time#but cant relate to the whole bouncing off the walls thing#also that school has an insane amount of floors and the theater is in the basement level 5 floors down from the entrance#and since the elevator was in use I had to lead those kids up the most insane amount of stairs I've ever encountered#truly humbled me because I was not prepared to drag my entire 200+ lb fat ass up five stories#first time my legs have ever felt so close to just giving out entirely#and now I have exercise induced asthma which will go away in a couple hours but OOF#I literally whistle like wind through a car window when I breath rn]#euthanize me#put me down like old yeller#personal

not me lying wide awake at 5:30am on a sunday on my day off bc after almost a full year I finally FINALLY realized the implication of the end of remember them from the cyclops saga
#that song has one of the most powerful ending crescendo sequences ive heard in maybe all of musical theater#so it. always felt incomplete after ALL that buildup during the I AM THE INFAMOOOUS#only to just drop to SILENCE. no music. no fanfare. just ODYSSEUS!#he doesnt even really sing it he just sort of... shouts it#and then its followed by the faintest sound of ocean waves#its poseidon. listening. THATS why athena said DONT#poseidon heard that declaration and came back to get him later#😬#i just looked up the lyrics for ruthlessness too and poseidon basically spells it out 😂#ive only listened to that song once or twice tho and i guess i wasnt too focused on the words#anyway i relistened to the songs on friday and theyve been rotating in my mind like a 7/11 hotdog#the whole cyclops saga especially is just.... so so good#they truly dont make music about bashing peoples heads in like they used to#the first 3 songs of the saga especially... oof#how they blend one into the other back to back and end up making like a 10 minute narration of events#the whole thing is so bone chilling#it gets my heartrate up lol#PLUS the theme of pain and vengeance bring more pain#EVERY time polyphemus says 'what gives you a right to deal a pain so deep'#and when odysseus says 'what good would killing do when mercy is a skill more of the world could learn to use'#rocking back and forth sobbing crying#remember them the next time that you DARE choose not to spare! remember them... remember us... remember me!#cant wait for everyone to turn their back on this musical in 5 yrs#like they did with hamilto.n#hamilto.n never stopped being good actually#yall are just embarrassed about being weird fanatics over people who rly existed

idk if this is strange to say but i wish there were more opportunities for like casual Acting bc that's like. a form of Play to me (pun not intended wee hee). Idk what happened to me that my shame and embarrassment gland got too huge but i Was in school plays as a kid and i enjoyed it. Nothing sounds more fun than having a contained space where u can be dramatic and say things in specific voices without it being Weird.
Dont say "get into ttrpgs" because its not the same i suck at improv and I'd be too embarrassed to really act bc i only have like 1 person in the whole world i wldnt be embarrassed to Act like that around. Too close. Need to fully move around a space.
i want to just be able to memorize lines/a script and deliver them in an appropriate setting without not making it bc i wasnt good enough for the role and cant sing well enough ykwim (as could be the case for trying to get into local theater). Does this make sense in any way❓❓ I was born to be a cartoon character everyone loves my weird funny exaggerated faces i need to be on a stage but i also need the escapism of pretending to be someone else and quite literally performing Feelings. Do u see my vision. I never outgrew imagining myself in music videos and its hindering my life. Does anyone wanna play dolls with me but we're the dolls.
