if you don't mind me asking, who's meatcanyon and why are they a hypocrite? i'm just curious lol
MeatCanyon, or Papa Meat, is a Youtuber who makes very crude and physically ugly animations about popular cartoons and other Youtubers.
He uploaded a video yesterday going after the lolisho community/anime community as a whole, calling them pedophiles while getting the terms loli and shota wrong (he also misspelled shota as “shouto”.)
youtube
What’s hypocritical about this is some of his animations have characters from both American/Canadian and Asian cartoons, that are supposed to be minors, in very sexual situations. There was also one animation he made riffing on Tom Brady kissing his real-life son on the mouth but he made it a make-out session and it went on for way longer.
He’s been deleting comments off the lolisho video that bring up his hypocrisy and correct him about the terms he used.
I’m not even a fan of lolisho to be honest, don’t really watch anime all that much anymore, except for a few series I like (Digimon, YuGiOh (Duel Monsters) Hellsing, and Berserk, to name a few!) but I’m sick and tired of having this kind of stuff being talked about by those who aren’t in the anime community and accusing people in said community of horrible things, especially when Papa Meat is an animator and should know the difference between cartoon anime girls and actual, real life children.

i think something important we all have to remember about characters is that they are not real. but they are symbolic representations of types of humans. especially when you incorporate fantasy into the mix, where these representations become a bit less literal.
so, like, when you have characters that are immortal/ageless/reincarnations/vampires/whatever, who are, on paper, much older than they actually look... it really just comes down to "if they walk like a duck and talks like a duck, then it's probably a duck."
basically what i mean is if a character is functionally a teenager within a story, emotionally and societally and such, then for all intents and purposes they ARE a teenager. because the thing that they are coded to symbolize is a teenager. regardless of fantasy factors that dont exist in the real world. maybe the closest thing is someone who is an adult but looks young (i still get mistaken for 16, its a struggle) but thats a false equivalence, you are still an adult, you cant be coded as a teenager as if this was a story (though you can certainly be immature lol).
conversely, "1000 year old dragon lolis" are coded as children. they represent children. no matter how many spins you try to put on it, that is a symbolic representation of a child. there's a huge difference between the reality of an adult who just happens to look young, and the fantasy of a child who by some loophole can consent. because thats the intent the character was created with.
obviously im not saying this applies to ALL characters who are immortal children though. it can be used for all types of different effects, like, for example, pride in fullmetal alchemist mangahood uses this to enhance his Creepyness factor, due to the disconnect between his appearance and his demeanor. he walks like a duck but doesnt talk like a duck. there are for sure ways to do this trope that arent creepy in the other sense.
same thing goes for immortal teenagers- once you introduce a power imbalance into the mix that makes them functionally just an adult who looks young, thats when the dynamic can begin to feel creepy. and its a tricky thing to pull off, because you have to balance the immortality with the teenager-ness, and it seems like lots of life experience will often contradict the latter. but its not impossible (at least in writing). a character can be more knowledgeable without having power over the other, and i think it largely comes down to how theyre treated socially too. if they have just as much power as any other teenager in their society, then theres not really an imbalance. how theyre treated by other characters will inform the viewers on how to treat them by extension.
like, weird example, but the vampire girl from hotel transylvania (i forgot her name, i watched it when i was 12) is like 100 years older than her love interest. but shes still a pretty stereotypical teenager who has to listen to adam sandler her father, and has the same amount of power in this situation as any other teenager would. the movie sets up the leads as being on the same level socially so theres no issue (this may have been made extra clear because its a kids movie, which is why its an easy example). contrast this with twlight where edward obviously has power over bella specifically due to his vampire-ness, and thats why their dynamic is one that many people find uncomfortable because the fantasy age gap plays a part in this.
but yeah at the end of the day thats why id never, like, call c.c from code geass a pedophile for kissing lelouch (utilitarian reasons or otherwise), but that's also exactly why i'd call isekai man #208 a pedophile for having a loli love interest. these characters are not real, they are symbols. you cannot take symbols literally (thats oxymoronic) by just looking at the numbers of their ages, you have to look at what they represent of the real world inside the story. what does this fantasy immortal SAY about age and such. what do their actual dynamics reflect in the real world.
fiction isnt reality, but its a mirror that reflects it. sometimes a funhouse mirror, but you can still see whats being reflected if you look closely.
anyway please dont take this as any sort of discourse, i really am just musing about how fiction Works, and how different tropes apply in different ways and such. this isnt a response to anything or anyone im just thinking out loud. peace ✌️

Gege is so good when it comes to introducing female characters imo. Yuki, maki, nobara, mai, mei mei, utahime. and ofc, shoko! all baddies who are simply 10s. I love jjk women sm 💗The only problem is that he gives them a moment and then sidelines them without giving us much depth into their character.. shoko and utahime especially have huge potential and I really hope he gives us more insight before he decides to end the manga.
The sexualization too is not so bad (even though it exists). it is WAY better than these other mangakas who treat their female characters like doormats and objects to ogle at and something the fanboys can be creepy about. another plus point is how they are actual GROWN women and not these lolis/shotas or whatever pedophilic stuff mangakas draw for their hyper horny misogynistic incel audience.
Yes, Japan is indeed very creepy when it comes to these things (i have been there and trust me it is the worst). Those men need to be put behind bars and they're extremely weird in areas where women's rights are concerned. i understand why Japanese women dont wanna procreate with them anymore and the declining birth rates. i support it tbh. most of them have 0 respect towards us and only see us as baby making machines. if they want to get women, maybe they should start getting their shit together.
Yes it's probably Gege's marketing strategy to make his work more woman-friendly, something other mangaka failed to achieve (which explains why their works are not as successful bc women will refuse to read smtng they're not comfortable with).
Most women read shojo, bc woman leads are respected and loved. So Gege took this into account + he introduced handsome men who are also strong (Gojo prime example). When you combine all these ideas into one, add meaningful plot composition, deep lessons on life, tragedy, comedy, a lil bit or romance, you get what we call "woman's heaven" lol. As a woman, I prefer shōnen over shojo bc shōnen is not solely based on romance. Instead, you have world building with lil bit of romance here and there to make it sweet. And mby bc shojo men seem feminine to me while shōnen seem more masculine that's also why lol. But yea, I think Gege did a pretty good job. Jjk has a lot to offer to its diverse audience (even to LGBT community with Hakari and Kirara).
We need to understand that shōnen is created with men on mind, it's aimed at male audience. So logically speaking, women won't play a super large role. Despite that, Maki had a lot of shiny moments for a shōnen girl, which made me happy. I also hope that Utahime and Shoko will play some important role as well, especially towards the end bc the end of the manga is nearing.
And yes I hate lolis as well haha. Grown women for the win.

FUN ask game time. Never seen one as compelling before. Okay obey me, 3, 4, 9 and 12 !!
3. Screenshot or description of the worst take you’ve seen on Tumblr
*insert every 900-year-old loli argument but with Luke* and also that one pro-shipper that said that people with trauma don’t matter and that I was “queerphobic” bc I said that equating Solomon to a sex offender because of the Asmo pact shit was weird lol.
4. What was the last straw that made you finally block that annoying person?
Tbh the only people I block are the motherfuckers that post incest or pedo shit lol.
9. Worst part of canon
Any and all allusions to incest in the story. No one wants to see that shit.
Also the whitewashing/greywashing of brown characters. Annoying as hell.
12. Unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them
Belphegor and Solomon liker til I die. I GET why people don’t like them but like…idk I think people should like morally dubious characters more teehee. Someone liking a character who did/does bad things doesn’t mean they approve of those things irl lol. I’m sure most Lucifer fans don’t approve kidnapping and locking your family member in a room by themselves for months on end as a punishment so why do Belphegor and Solomon fans get the hate?

saying genshin is racist and copies other games when youre a fgo fan LMFAOOO explain to me quickly why quetzalcoatl looks like that in that gambling game. lets also talk how guilgamesh and enkidu are also pale as hell and also the 103919 historical figures turned into lolis
anon, your anime gambling game of choice is most definitely very heavily inspired by legend of zelda breath of the wild. me liking whatever media you deem unworthy doesn't magically make that an untruth.
people can like stuff and be critical about its flaws, y'know. nothing is perfect, especially games that monetize through pretty jpgs in a world that's y'know. generally pretty unkind to melanin!
quetz is prob bc they used that debunked story that the aztecs thought their gods were blond and blue eyed or whatever. people still believe that! just like how people thought the lady who sued mcdonalds over the hot coffee was in the wrong. propaganda is insidious
the genderbends and lolis suck, and i hate them, i'm not alone in hating them, especially on this hellsite, but they make boatloads of money. so they'll keep being made. that's it, that's the reason!
for gil, i think there's the whole, sumerian divinity had blond hair/red eyes (in the story's lore at least) and the pale skin is ...him being 2/3 god???? idk, it's still bad lmao but he was made by like, some dudes to be a villain for their indie dating sim game in like, the early 2000's lol
enkidu's design has to complement gil's silly saint seiya lookin ass bc they're boyfriends i guess?? i dunno, i'm not a wiki

I found the character writing in desu2 very… I don’t fully understand why they wrote like half the cast the way they did but the gameplay was good enough for me to complete it, I agree on the sound design points. It should feel more alien-y? or at least several feet to the left of typical strategy video game music
yeah. i’m glad i’m not going insane.
desu2 is a massive improvement in gameplay, presentation, and a lot of its pacing. i prefer seeing the societal collapse like in desu1 instead of jumping right into it, though with how bosses are handled and the extended length in the day really works wonders. it’s much more fun to play and it rarely drags out. it does have some better humor too!!! plus seeing a big bad that isn’t just god or lucifer or any major biblical figures is nice. always appreciated. the story isn’t great but as of the time i’m writing this i haven’t gotten any of the endings so for all i know it gets amazing somehow. there was a lot more effort and i gotta give it that. 1’s narrative is 10/10 still.
the biggest issue outside of the narrative is character treatment, mostly due to trying to pad out the cast as much as possible when most characters don’t make enough of an impact to justify being “major” enough to be party members.
(long post incoming but i really gotta talk about this so i won’t have to make a billion posts about how the game betrayed the characters.)
the issues with desu2’s cast can be best described as a mix between fanservice-focus and not enough focus. the fanbase is what actually gives the mistreated characters life and respect to show what they could’ve been.
most of them serve no plot purpose despite some being pretty interesting conceptually (jungo is definitely an autistic icon and a lovable goof, joe’s the best “everyman” character i’ve seen, fumi doesn’t care, keita doesn’t care and actually has the most motivation out of the rest of the cast save for ronaldo). unless they’re an alignment rep, once the death video comes in or some major story point prior to the big split, they’re effectively irrelevant, likely due to how writing a version of the story where certain characters lived would take a lot of time.
the girls are hypersexualized no matter how interesting their backstories can be. basically ignoring how every girl has to have big tits or some focus on sexualization, airi is actually really interesting and i like what the narrative hints at but she’s made into a tsundere archetype and a loli let’s be honest, otome has an interesting backstory but her design and her introductions are based on “oh look guys hot nurse,” makoto simps for the protag, io is force paired with the protag a lot, etc. the game openly acknowledges the fanservice and pokes fun but that doesn’t suddenly mean it’s unable to be criticized. it’s more excuses to have it and a lazy attempt at a joke.
doesn’t help that most characters are one note. there’s bits of backstory but it amounts to nothing and isn’t reflected in their character much if at all. fumi is a hacker so she’s all about tech and science, io studies so she has to be milk toast, daichi is a coward so it has to be pointed out and never changed, keita’s an asshole who likes to fight, etc.
desu1 isn’t perfect with some of the character writing choices yet it avoids the issue with narrowing down the playable cast and having every character be used to help further push the themes. it shows who’s affected by the lockdown/societal collapse, why that’s bad, and sometimes tell you why it’s happening.
idk most characters in desu2 can be good but the narrative focus leaves them no room to be good.
and on the music and sound design point, god that would’ve been so good and again glad i’m not insane for having issues with the sound effects lol

As a proshipper I wanna say I don’t approve of the hate comments you’re getting telling you to off yourself or anything like that. That’s unacceptable and we’re supposed to be better than that. Like, I have my criticisms of your post and all, like I don’t agree with you on some of it, but if anyone is gonna skip making points to send that shit, or they’re gonna try to say them buried in a sea of insults and aggression directed at someone who hasn’t shown us the same, then you’re just gonna turn people against us. A major reason I’m proship is cause proshippers at least advocate for tagging things and making it easier to avoid content you don’t like while letting it exist but antis would keep shoving it in my face and demanding I vocally condemn it and when I tried to set boundaries saying I didn’t want to talk about it or see it they accused me of supporting child rape. If antagonizing someone with an energy level they didn’t bring to the table was enough to push people towards proship, don’t you think it’s enough to push someone away from it? But anyway, yeah, the hate you’re getting isn’t okay and I’m sorry you’re dealing with that. I don’t know if you’d even want to hear my thoughts on your post even before this, but like, I especially get it if you don’t want to after this.
thank you truly, i really appreciate this ask because i agree that i don’t think it’s ever okay to say those things regardless of who they’re to. i was actually just telling a friend about this that i used to think it was alright to only say those awful things to people like convicted pedos and rapists but as a Christian i realized that i really need to stop that mentality and do my best to love and have empathy for all, and after working on it, now i do. so i don’t condone telling anyone to hurt themselves, get raped, etc. no matter who they are let alone a proshipper. with that being said i also don’t like seeing antis say the same to those that they disagree. it’s just as bad.
another reason i appreciate this is because it’s discussion. i’m totally open to discussion and debate; that’s why i made the post. i just don’t have anything to say to the people yelling weird stuff at me lol. so thank you for being calm and wanting to have a sound discussion. it’s always appreciated and i’m definitely open to that. don’t feel bad about wanting to interact on my post with disagreement either. it’s a public post for anyone to speak their mind on so whether it’s pro or anti just go for it as long as it’s not overtly rude but i’m sure it wouldn’t be given the tone of your ask. :)
that is 100% true about negativity just discrediting your side of the argument. this is another reason why i don’t see why people fight so crazily with the purpose of changing minds. it’ll only keep people set in their ways.
i’m sorry you had a bad experience with antis. everyone loves to make assumptions unfortunately. if you had people making assumptions about you being a pedo just because you’re not actively saying loli/shota is bad then that’s not okay and i’m sorry that happened. people have also made plenty of assumptions about me for being anti about how i’m apparently cis, straight, neurotypical, and/or not traumatized in any way lmao.
here’s a more detailed explanation about my relation to being anti proship that you or others might find insightful:
i definitely appreciate when things are tagged
it’s mostly the lolicon/shotacon stuff i find disturbing
age gaps don’t really bother me if they’re legal
incest ships/shippers do make me uncomfortable however i see lolicons and shotacons as more of a threat to others
i have trauma of my own just like many people do which does influence why i’m anti however most people think if you’re “quirky” or “traumatized” then you cannot be anti lol
i don’t think anyone should force others to be activists in any way if they don’t want to be, like how you had people forcing you to vocally stand up against these things
i only have issues with the people themselves that support it, think it’s totally fine in every way, or even helpful
i don’t think all proshipping media should be banned. the only exception to this is loli or shota hentai
i don’t like when people assume that creators condone the things going on in their media just because they wrote about it

thoughts on playable faves getting older, the people who make them and the people who play them
Tumblr media
because comfy tracksuit slider dad kiryu is peak character design
spoilers for ps2 Y1/K1, Y5, assumptions about Y6 + Y7 + Y8 + Yakuza Gaiden
why is RGG so afraid of Kiryu getting older? I havent played Y6 yet but I have a feeling RGG is ok with Kiryu being middle aged. They did show some uncomfortable feelings about him being single in his 40s on Y5, but him behaving as a more mature individual is there, same as the rest of the cast (yes, even Majima, lmao).
And i wouldnt go into this tangent if they hadnt dropped that Y8 footage
(correct me if im wrong, lmao) but it’s not often that people get to play franchises that span through decades of people’s lives, like (you guessed it) Yakuza. I love that. I had been avoiding the newest RGG trailers, and I still havent fully watched The Summit™️, but I watch highlights a couple weeks ago, and it took me some more time to work on this puzzle. Most Japanese people (and other ethinicities, as far as i know) look youthful well into their 50s, when compared to white people (I’m Brazilian, so I see the ethnic mix and match everyday (on my own body lol) and how that affects people’s looks). Of course there’s levels of overall self-care, sun exposure, yadda yadda. I’m fairly certain Kiryu doesnt have a skin care routine other than washing his face everyday lmao but he takes care of himself, he exercises constantly (lol), so that helps. His face is fine, awesome beautiful skin (even though i much prefer the Y5 style, compared to dragon engine botching everyone*, but he looks great). If everything is fine and dandy. Why is that a thing?
Not only are they still bringing him for 8, and we dont fully know what that will be like, but 7 was already a cameo, so giving him more screentime on 8 doesnt make sense at all but go off, i guess. We will never fully understand why RGG has been saying goodbye to Kiryu for 6 games already and not fully letting him go. I say 6 games bc I’m considering the last 6 mainline games (6, 0, K1, K2, I’d say Y7, and apparently 8?). Gaiden and Ishin are fine, and I’m so happy about those decisions. I honestly think it’s a much better decision to keep them in spin offs if they still want bank on his brand, and give space to new characters and adventures in the mainline games (and judgement!). But then I look at that grey haired mess and im so puzzled.
Tumblr media
And we’ve joked about him looking like a boyband member, whatever that is. *We still dont know if that’s a disguise or a midlife crisis. And if it is a midlife crisis, and they actually take that angle of him struggling with age, i’d give them all the kudos. That would actually be a bold, beautiful move.
Is milking Kiryu just a marketing tactic, or is it something deeper within RGG? Again, correct me if I’m wrong, I’ve speculated about this before, about them being uncomfortable with their character’s age. But are they also uncomfortable with handing the story over to new characters? Do they feel trapped with Kiryu being the (middle aged, totally not elder) face of the franchise?* Or maybe theyre afraid the franchise is not gonna be relevant anymore because it isnt full of lolis and shotas? When that’s never been their goal in the first place? Yakuza has always been about having fun well into your 40s, because life isnt over once you turn 30. And japanese people fully know that. The west is very anxious about the teenage dream, the live fast die young mentality. Majima has that underlying feeling, he has talked about it here and there. And I would love if they went in on that. It’s not like Y7 wasnt successful, it was the introduction to so many people to the franchise. We know it made bank. We know people love Ichiban + the new crew. We know RGG is moving on. The bat has exchanged hands already. So Kiryu being on Y8, looking like that, on promotional material? It’s such a step back…
As of 2022, Kiryu is 54 years old. Majima is 58. There’s only so much flashbacking RGG can do so they can hide their anxiety about their mascot almost being an elder. Are they afraid of growing old themselves? NPCs have been calling Kiryu an old men since yakuza 1, and that did bother me bc *I was just playing as this baby on Y0, how dare you call him old? he’s 30 D: And I’m almost 30, so I understand my own qualms, so I can only imagine what goes on on the majority of the 50 yo department heads on RGG. And for gods sake, we know they can model awesome older characters.
Tumblr media
The most beautiful model Kashiwagi has ever had is his Y7 one* (Sources are kinda confusing because apparently he was born in 1948? So he’d be 71 in 2019? I mean, good for him if true!! lol) (also yes, this is the asterisc. As far as I’ve looked, Kashiwagi is by far the character who’s aged the most beautifully. I cant do anything but clap lmao) Kazama is also very handsome, and he was born in 1945, so he is 60 in Y1/K1. A more apt comparison would be Sera, who was in his 30s in Y0 and 49 on Y1. He has some streaks, you know. And then there’s Kiryu, botoxed to the gods at 51 on Y8.
We know they can do this. Majima talks about being an old man in Y5, and he was 40 then. If you wanna tell me Majima dyes his hair black because he doesnt wanna see his reflection greying, I’m 100% ok with that. But it’s about time. We’ve been playing those characters for almost 20 years, we have seen almost 40 years of their lives. These are conversations we* could be having at this point, even if it’s substories. But not all hope is lost though!
Tumblr media
I dont know if it’s the lighting, but his model on Gaiden does have some some grayish bits. And that’s 2018 (before Y8 even but we can let that slide bc technology, lol they can retroactively grey him). And given that Gaiden seems to be a lot more personal and small, maybe we could have that age talk then. I can only hope. TLDR: RGG. Buddy (lol). We are still gonna love Kiryu even if he’s no longer young (he is still beautiful). Please recognize the fact that we are all aging up, our bodies and our skin. And so are the characters we play with. Kiryu isnt gonna stop being a good avatar because he’s older. And also, let go. Ichiban is the new avatar. And people love him. Move on. We all have. If you (as people who make the company) are uncomfortable about getting older, use that opportunity to talk about that aging anxiety. We (the fans) will need that when we get to that point (whether we’re pushing 20, 30, 40, 70, 80). Because that white haired monstrosity needs to mean something, you couldve gone without it. Pls. Dont let that be a hair disaster like Y4 Saejima. You had the ps3 excuse then, you dont have that now, you know how to do hair lmao. Pls lmao
TLDR2: All I’m saying is. That white hair on the Y8 raises way too many unnecessary questions but then again Gaiden looks fine? I’m lost&confused pls help lol PS: I've rewatched Our Flag Means Death 4 times now (lol) and gray hair as a topic was never something I really thought about in entertainment, but when we think about ageless character on animation/games, I dont know, it seems like a relevant topic. Because, again, we've known Kiryu + Majima + the gang for almost 20 years. We've seen 4 decades of their lives. This is a longer timespan than... I dont know, british soap operas that go on for ages lol.
edit: Anyway yeah lol thanks for reading this long ramble! let me know what you think bc yeah, loads to think about

sending this with like, genuine intent to have a discussion, and not as some kind of gotcha, just so you know! if you don't wanna answer that's fine, i just saw your post and wanted to put in my two cents
the reason why i don't, personally, find stuff like loli/shota wrong, is that those look nothing like children. like 99% of that art has a cartoon-y, often anime style, and so while it does ping as 'children', it does so within the context of a fictional world. like yeah, they're anime children, but that's not the same as real children
it's also the reason why i'd find realistic art of a fictional child, in that situation, gross, and i genuinely don't think i've ever seen that shit floating around, so it's either a widely shared sentiment, or i've been keeping to the safe circles lol
i don't think i have a good argument for why drawings of real life children is wrong, if the other isn't, but i do think it's simply because, even if it's cartoonized, that's based on a real child. and not just in a 'this is how children look' way, but in the sense that the person looked at a real life child, and decided to draw that shit anyway. like that's SUCH a huge red flag, whereas with fictional characters, while i do think people have EVERY right to find is sus as shit, it's like. it's fantasy? make believe? like when i think of made up children, like ocs or whatever, i think of anime and shit. at no time does real children factor into it, and obv. that could just be me, but that's how i personally view it
i get this perspective. personally i think my issue with it is i don’t have that disconnect of “this is a child in a fictional world so it’s not a real child,” because to me, a child is a child. and i personally just don’t get how you can separate that category of person from being one that can’t consent yknow?
like i’m not one do those people who says like “oh proshippers are pedos” or whatever but i still think that making content like that is really fucking weird and sus and makes you the kind of person i’d tell people to stay away from yknow? idk im tired

TW: Misguided opinions on Japan, pedophilia ideology
Here's what to expect before you read this thread: A callout on the sexualisation of children in anime, excuses for the specific example, a pedophile confession, more excuses, proship ideology that predates proshipping by years, and a poor attempt of claiming an anime art piece is satire.
TheNightcoreWitcher
Nightcore - Rockefeller Street
A: Japan and pedophilia seem to be really close, like what the fuck is going on with pictures like those, using very little kids as if they were fully grown, imo thats just wrong.
B: @A uhm...what?
A: @B Don't you even dare to deny it, lol it's been way too obvious for decades. Just look at the picture, look at what it represents, the outfits, and then realise this kind of stuff is made for adults. I'll let that sink in.
B: @A whatever lol
C: @A Get your mind out of the gutter! Those outfits are only to facilitate mobility because they are ninja cats.
D: @A It's called anime, not reality...
B: dont bother with close minded people like him, really
D: @B  xD true, i could do it, but i wan't to tell them they are wrong and that anime is the best world's invention xD
D: @A I will repeat, 1) this is anime not reality 2) In anime, they seems like they have 11 or 10, but in the anime it self, they are around 20 - 25 3) You're abusing…Pedophilia? Seriously? Maby next week you will tell it's torture wtf
B: like i said, dont bother :3
B: i just deleted a large amount of text bc i figured you and i dont really care :)
D: @A xD
D: @A It's not about how old you are, but what your mental age is.
D: @A BTW i dunno why you are talking sh** about this beeing sexual, it's an hentai xD Name of anime if you don't trust me "Boku no Pico"
D: @A I wasn't talking about authors, but these characters in the picture, and i didn't proved anything, cause i'm talking about hentai's, you're talking about anime in general...anyways, you're trying to say a mature thing, but what you're saying is completely immature.
B: [this comment has been lost]
A: @B Odds are you're right, statistically it would be impossible that everyone that is into this is a pedophile, but I think it might plant seeds into people's minds, which is what makes me upset about this. At least you did make a good point and explanation, unlike the MLG scrublord that only spits nonsense. I'm out now, take care and thanks for finally sharing some info that I wanted to know.
B: @A i know that its odd and i appreciate your opinions, really but as a lolicon myself i just get a little upset about things like that :/ i dont think btw that it plants those "seeds" in peoples mind. You have to have some kind of attraction towards younger girls beforehand, its not like the attraction to younger girls came with the appearance of the loli concept in anime yaknow.
D: @A leave.
D: @B me too :/
E: @A we feel that it is wrong because it socially and legally is wrong where we grew up (forgive me for making assumptions). in japan they dont consider cartoons to be comparable to real life.
D: @E A little fact: the characters on the image are 25 old, not 10 yrs old xD
E: @D if you are being honest, that is pretty interesting. i would love to research this topic on my own, can you tell me what these characters are from? google images search didnt help me.
D: @E boku no piko
D: @E but a little warning: it's an hentai xD
F: [this comment has been lost]
D: @F Finally someone that know something about anime and that know anime isn't pédophila because it's actually not allowed to do even in hentai's...cheers man!
F: @D I do animation and trust me it is fucking hard to make a convincing 20-30 year-old woman
D: @F  yeah, know how you're feeling, tryed it once, only childs, no matter how hard i tryed xD
F: @D I'm serious when I have to make the women of an animation my face turns into the ffffuuuuuuuuuu guys face
D: @F Yeah xD But yeah, anyways, have a nice day m8!
F: @D You too m8!
D: @F thanks :D
G: [this comment has been lost]
F: @G You were never going to win since winning an argument against a smart person is easy but to win an argument against an idiot it is impossible.
D: @F true xD anyways  @G , don't waste your time on idiots that try to be smarter and proof that they are right, even though they are wrong, have a nice day man, you definetly deserve to be blessed with goodness because smart people are rare these days xD
H: @A Lol look at this guy right here, represents whole japan for 1 picture Imao xD
D: @H yeah, you're right, all of his comments are useless. Have a nice day btw :D
I: In Japan pedophilia isn't more common than anywhere else, it's just that they usually don't have such huge problems living out their fantasies through fictional media as long as no actual children get hurt. Would you complain about slasher and gore films/games just because running around and killing people would be a bad idea? Because there are people who really enjoy that kind of stuff but no sane person would do these things in reality.
J: @A It's fucking anime ninja catgirls in swimsuits dude...and you focus on what you think their age is?
Beyond that it's obviously intentionally satirical of anime. It's part of the medium. Maybe you're wrong for being so uptight.
A: Still making no sense, yeah don't waste time with me and go get some help XD
Final NCA notes
Comments in thread: 70
Comments shown here: 38
This thread contains possibly some of the worst comments I've ever seen. Although it seems mostly intact there were mentions of pedophilia defense arguments from some people that didn't show up, but it's not like we needed to see any more of those.
The ideologies shown here are why my DNI just says "Idc how you label yourself. If you want other people to be at the mercy of your choices and views then fuck off." Because these people sound exactly like internet pedos today (proshippers, MAPs, NOMAPs), just under a different name.
I debated whether I should post this thread on my blog or not, since I try to make this a place where I can read interesting comments and not... this. But, when I started this blog I figured I'd run into bad comments about Japan and decided I wouldn't stray away from those comments because their existence is undeniable.
If you've read this far, thank you, I hope you feel alright and that you have a good week <3

I'm starting to have this... not hatred but definitely a sense of disgust towards the pro-ship community, in the sense that a handful amount of 'em have takes that aren't that great.
For example RN I was havin this conversation with someone about the 2017 comment that the author of this Heartstopper comic made that said that BL/yaoi is fetishistic and bad (I don't know how this shit blow up???? I saw it on FB and Twitter, but like who cares at this point, the author maybe doesn't think that way anymore but who knows); but whatever, that's not the point. A semi-famous mexican YouTuber named Luna said that they weren't interested in the series (she even mock it in the lines of "omg oh yeah you're sooooo right a romance between two cisgay white dudes is soooooooo new and innovative"), and people started invalidatin' 'em sayin' that Luna wasn't queer because they doesn't want to read/watch Heartstopper (to be fair, she kinda food the troll but still not a excuse for making a call out post). So I said this thing in the conversation. And then this random girl showed sayin' "OMG WHY Y'ALL DEFENDING LUNA LIKE SHE'S AN ANTI I DON'T CARE IF SHE GETS INVALIDATED SHE'S AN ANTI SHE DESERVE IT". And I'm like... girl, this ain't it. You don't say shit like this to a queer person (me). Luna said some shit about Loli/Sho being for "pedos"? Yeah, and it was dumb. Is this a fuckin' excuse/justification to go and negate they experiences and identity? No, get fuckin lost if you think that. Ended blockin' that asshole. (And maybe the admins will ban me now lol, good.)
The worst part is that this person (in the Hispanic community, btw) is not the first and sure won't be the last sayin' shit like this in both the Hispanic and the English speakin' communities. It's like, oh you can excuse queerphobia but not fandom discourse, huh? That says kinda a lot about you.
--
Yeah. Queer people are often dumbasses. Because we're people. Having bad takes knows no boundaries.
"Pro ship" as an identity and community is full of hypocritical assholes, like happens to many labels.

🦄Loli what about Addi's Swedish a request that Addi trying to learning Swedish but what about the times when she's trying to communicate with other Swedes? I mean this is a phase that my non-Swedish bf going through and everytime he tries I'm having a second hand embarrassment and heart attack but you know be supportive to your man so I go "You were born to speaking swedish"😂🤗
LOL 🦄 Non, as someone who is still learning the language and traveled to Sweden (and tried my damnedest to speak it wherever possible), I can attest that as embarrassing as it is for you to witness, it's just as embarrassing for the speaker 😅 I know I'm probably butchering the language. I know they can speak English better than I can speak Swedish. And that "sj" shenanigans in the Swedish language is absolute bullshit 😅 the "sj" noise is something my mouth will never be able to do. I can never say 'seven' because of it. And don't even get me started on "seastar" or "nurse".
Anywho -- Addi's made pretty great progress with her Swedish lessons from Gustaf. The broadening of her Swedish vocabulary is matched with the confidence she's gaining whenever she and Goose speak to each other. Only she overlooked one important difference between Swedish with Gustaf, and Swedish with anyone outside the Skarsclan. With Gustaf, he's been cognizant of speaking as clearly and precisely as possible. He's slowed down his cadence. He's pronouncing the words in their truest form.
But in Stockholm, Addi's learned (and as I learned), people don't necessarily speak the words in their truest form. There's slang. There's shortcuts. There's even a nasal quality to their dialect that Addi's never truly heard before. So while abroad, her confidence is sort of dropping. Why sound like an idiot trying to speak it when everyone knows the man beside her is a native northman? Sensing that her confidence is a bit shaken, Alex has made a point of getting her to practice. Someone in a cafe or shop greets them, and although Addi looks up at Alex to respond, he continues glancing around as if he didn't hear a thing practically forcing Addi to answer.
"Hej hej," the man standing at the counter mutters. Addi's seen him a few times as this has been the coffee shop they've been frequenting.
"Hej." She glances up at Alex but he's still staring into the pastry case like he's thinking about important things. "Jag skulle vilja ha..."
The man lets out a mmph under his breath, like her formal request is just too much.
Addi swallows, growing more nervous, "uhm... kanelbulle," she looks up at Alex again, "kladdkaka..."
"Med grädde?" The man interrupts. He sounds like he's losing his patience.
Still staring at Alex, she almost shrinks in on herself when he finally returns her gaze and flashes her a fleeting smile. Addi lowers her eyes to the man and nods, "ja, tack. Också två kaffe." She exhales. Done.
"Att gå eller stanna?"
Addi just stares at him. Why'd he ask her something else? She was done. She'd resigned herself to the conversation being over. She goes frozen and doe-eyed.
More perturbed, the man cocks his head to the side and rolls his eyes, "jag har andra kunder. Svenska eller engelska?"
Now Alex steps in. Not because she looked up at him for help, but because she's paralyzed into inaction. "Hey, she's learning. Simmer down," he fishes his wallet out of his pocket and switches his attention to shell-shocked Addi. "You want it to go or to stay?"
She huddles into Alex's side a little more, trying to avoid all eye contact with the man. "Stay,"
"Stanna," Alex hands his credit card over. The other man has suddenly become very passive. Once he leaves to grab their items, Alex hooks his arm over Addi's shoulder and offers a bright smile. "You did so good,"
"He got angry at me."
"He's having a bad day,
Addi shrugs. "Can you just be the one to speak when we go into places?"
He really wants to object and be firm with her but not only does she look timid, she looks embarrassed. Instead of pressing the issue, he agrees off the bat. But he doesn't want this one guy to ruin this for her. He loves that she's put so much effort into learning Swedish and is really proud of her. But it takes a few days and a sneaky plan to get her speaking again.
After he’s realized that she’s going to shell up and wait for him to speak, Alex recruits the help of patient, kind Gustaf. Just as Alex says he has to disappear for a business lunch, Gustaf swoops in to take Addi out to lunch. He’s careful not to jump into Swedish with her right away. And even he notices that once they’re seated, she’s letting him take the reins with talking to the waitress.
While she’s distracting herself with the menu, Gustaf blurts to the attentive waitress -- “she’s learning Swedish. Is it okay if she practices?”
Addi flicks her stare to Gustaf. Sabotage. But then the waitress’ smile grows wider and she nods enthusiastically. “Jaha!”
While at first she’s hesitant and barely speaking above a murmur, the kindness and enthusiasm of the waitress slowly eases Addi into a state of greater comfort. She’s being patient with her, and waiting for her to find the words without rolling her eyes or sighing like the man at the coffee shop. Throughout the course of the meal, Addi gains her voice and confidence back -- and even learns some Stockholm slang.
So by the time they arrive back at Alex’s apartment, and smell a fresh pot of coffee brewing, Addi lets out a barbaric, “KUCKELIKU!” and goes running off to find him.

Anime I've Binged: August 2021
I've been crafting a lot recently because I wanna get my yarn work done before it gets cold so LOTS OF ANIME lmao let's gooooo
The Case Study of Vanitas: On god, this anime is gorgeous. Still being upload as it's a new seasonal, but it's a Yen Press distributed work by the same mangaka of Pandora Hearts and Crimson Shell so it's STYLISTICALLY GORGEOUS. The story is interesting and feels new but familiar enough to have guess, people who like men AND women will have something for them, and Noè is my baby boy, my heart, my lovely little lamb, the sweetest green bean on the planet <3. Can't wait for the (eventual, as told on the first episode) death of Vanitas by Noè's hands that will crush me <3. 9/10.
Oddtaxi: I was NOT EXPECTING this anime to be THAT GOOD. Oddakawa is the MVP. You think you're getting a slice of life anime with some furry elements and instead you get Paranoia Agent meets Yakuza and went to school with Beastars. Genuinely one of the best anime of the coming decade. The last 30 seconds of the last episode legitimately left me screaming and my brother had to ask me what was wrong. 11/10.
The Slime Diaries: The offshoot for That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime full of shorts while the second half of the second season was put on hiatus due to covid. Cute, bubbly, but the drawing styles for everyone was a little too off for me to entirely enjoy. However, the extra background and time they gave to all the characters really fleshed them out and gave them more depth so you have more to care about when you're watching the main series again. Not bad, pretty cute, but you won't understand unless you've watched all the way up to the middle of the Second Season. 8.5/10.
The Slow Life of a Cheat Pharmacist: Another Light Novel Slice of Life Isekai given life, I've seen better but this one isn't bad by any means. It gives you exactly what it says on the tin, with NO annoying fan service or gross (bad) harem dynamics. Pretty cute tbh. 8/10.
Mob Psycho 100 S1: The animation is INCREDIBLE. OH MY GOD. Story was solid, depictions of original characters was GREAT and Mob is my beautiful little boy I want to wrap up in a blanket and put to sleep <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 Reigen is a sweaty, sweaty gross goblin I found outside the Denny's dumpster at midnight and decided "ahh, yes, a man who is perfect to destroy and objectify all at once." 11/10.
Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S1, S2, and Shorts: I'm gonna be real, I'm a mad lesbian who knew I was gonna be disappointed by what I wanted but knew I wasn't gonna get it. STILL super cute tho. Lucoa and Shota gave me HARD SIDE EYE VIBES THO. Tits. Tits for days. Not my favorite but I've seen worse. 7.5/10.
How to Keep a Mummy: SO CUTE genuinely went online to see if I could buy a plushie before remembering I have crafting power and twelve dollars. Slice of Life featuring an adorable cast of high schoolers and their supernatural pets. 8.5/10. I couldn't stop being delighted by how CUTE everything was <3
Elegant Yokai Apartment Life: A Slice of Life Turned Plot-ish about if Tohru from Fruits Basket was a guy and shoved in an entire apartment complex full of supernatural beings, with less explicit romantic plotlines. It's not bad but the plot is all over the place and nonsensical in the the "why did the writer think this was a good idea" way and not the "lol" way. It was a Light Novel turned published piece tho so that clears up a lot of things. Incredibly small internet presence so if you want the world's tiniest fandom, try here. 8/10.
Didn't I Say to Make My Abilities Average In the Next Life?!: Another in the long line up of isekais and light novels that have gained an audience, this is honestly one of my favorite of the Isekais I've watched so far. It's fun, humorous, and it's got the decent premise of "oh yeah, I'm average in all my abilities! ... If you compare them from the tiniest bug to the strongest dragon alive." It's busty jokes and certain dried up cliches are abound tho, so some of the humor falls flat. That being said: the magic is run on nanomachines. That alone gives it enough premise for me to watch it. I watched the dub which I'll admit isn't amazing, but worked for me. 8.5/10
Restaurant to Another World: Another Light Novel adaptation but this one was a much earlier one that was published a few years ago, it's so calm that I like watching it to fall asleep to. That being said, don't watch this while hungry! Or watch it while eating leftovers! Because THE FOOD LOOKS SO GOOD I WANT IT D: Lol but serious it's pretty cute, really normal, there's no plot, I almost hesitate to call this anything other than a fantasy slice of life show instead of just a series of shorts strung together to make a show. I want to eat at Restaurant Nekoya TTuTT 8/10
DISHONORABLE MENTIONS:
How NOT To Summon a Demon Lord: I got 6 episodes in before I straight up could NOT take the fan service anymore. Literally, I watched 5 1/2 episodes, paused about 4 months, gave it one last shot and watched the 6th episode, and then called it quits. It's SO GROSS IT MAKES ME NAUSEOUS. Not in a gorey way (which is preferable tbh) but in "all these hyper-sexualized, assaulted, groomed, fan serviced girls are underage or are lolis" way. Ew. Gross. I refuse. I made myself watch PRISON SCHOOL but smth about this show just... made itself unwatchable. Maybe how it's still trying to make the MC seem like a normal dude and in Prison School they were literally all written to be unlikable and everyone knew it was fucked up. Here, it's like... portrayed as normal and positive? I just can't do it fam, I hate this show so goddamn much. I'm going to bed.
