So so so sorry this this took ages to post!

The party was incredibly boring, and you would have fallen asleep already if not for Kit. He was sitting next to you and he too seemed to have his thoughts elsewhere. You loved seeing his expression change from polite to vexed in a matter of seconds: the others guests were arrogant and aloof. He’d occasionally glance at you and slightly roll his eyes, which made you chuckle silently. You were about to take a sip of wine and then Kit gave you that all-saying expression again, and you almost spilt your drink. You looked back at him and saw little lights twinkle in his eyes, a mischievous grin playing on his lips.

As one of the more arrogant ‘writers’ started a discussion about how theatre had changed for the worse, Kit leaned closer to you.

‘Let’s get out of here.’ he whispered and your eyes were drawn to how playfully his necklace was dancing on his chest.

‘What?’ you stammered in disbelief.

‘It’s so dull here.’ he said dramatically.

‘I agree…’ you sighed, ‘But how? We can’t just leave now, can we?’.

‘Of course we can, darling.’ he smiled and took his cup of wine, followed by a wicked smile. Kit made sure no one was watching, but they were too busy babbling. He suddenly poured some wine over his shirt and exclaimed in a dramatic fashion. Everyone looked up to see what the matter was. ‘Oh, I’m so sorry! I can be terribly clumsy!’ he said apologetically.

Lady Underhill seemed puzzled and offered him to refresh himself but Kit politely declined by saying ‘he had no intention of troubling anyone’, and that ‘he’d rather take his leave if they’d excuse him’.

In just a few minutes, Kit managed to rescue you both from a tedious, dull evening. Once you had said your goodbyes and expressed your thankfulness you walked outside. Kit glanced at you and as soon as the door was shut you burst out laughing.

‘But what about your shirt?’

‘It’s black, and it’ll dry!’ he chuckled.

‘You’re insane!’ you snorted, which only make Kit laugh harder.

You loved everything at that moment. The cold air tingling your heated cheeks, the moonlit dark, the flicker in Kit’s eyes…

‘Come!’ Kit smiled and started walking after grabbing your arm.

‘Where are we going?’ you asked, your house was in the opposite direction.

‘You didn’t think we’d go home, right? The night is still young.’ he whispered in your ear, sending shivers down your spine.
