💊 General Info, Joy Usage & Relationships
General Info:
Name: Mrs. Clair Matilda “Tilly” Wyndham
Age: 44 (3/4/1921)
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Unknown
Occupation: A Wellette housewife, leader of JTPFA, and occasional freelance seamstress.
Joy Usage
Favorite Flavor: Chocolate
Frequency: Tilly dutifully takes her Joy every hour. Sometimes, she'll wake up in the middle of the night from nightmares and take more Joy even then. Occasionally, Tilly forgets that she has already taken her Joy and takes it more than once an hour.
Effect on Personality: While Joy does help her forget many painful memories and has made her an overall more optimistic and imaginative person, it also has heavily impeded her working memory, and her imaginative tendencies often fall into dissociative territory, making her seem “spacey.”
Side Effects: Tilly suffers from occasional black outs, weight loss, lightheadedness, and poor working memory because of both her Joy usage and the food shortage in Wellington Wells.
Relationships:
Affiliations: Tilly is part of a fan group for Nick Lightbearer fans and her neighborhood baking association. Tilly also is the leader of JTPFA, or “Joyous Tea Parties For All,” which is a club dedicated to hosting Joy-fuelled tea parties, especially for those who normally would not have the means for such festive activities.
Family: Tilly's mother and father were named Winnie and Chester Enfield and both are deceased. She has an older sister named Joan Bright, a brother-in-law named Pv. Jonathan Bright and two nephews named Benson and Nathan; all of which are missing and have been missing for years. She had twins named Winnie and Chester, both of which were taken from her during the Very Bad Thing. Her husband, Dr. Peter Wyndham, is currently her only “family,” and their marriage is very strained.
Friends: Tilly has friends, but none that are close. They all are people she's met through JTPFA (the club she started), the neighborhood's baking association, and through her clients as a freelance seamstress. They are all more friendly acquaintances than friends.
Enemies: Tilly has a few rivals in the sewing industry. There are also those who are jealous of the life she’s able to live, as being married to a Joy Doctor, she’s a lot more well off than many other Wellies. Some also simply don’t like her head-in-the-clouds, careless attitude. While she wouldn't call any of these people enemies, they probably would not say the same about her.
Romantic Interests: None. She is in a loveless marriage.

And Kitty Makes Three
Tumblr media
Written for my dear friend @blackbird-brewster for the @cmgiftexchange
Merry Christmas, Kit!!!! I love you so much and I had a blast writing this for you! 💕💕💕
Words: 1047
Rating: G
Pairing: Emily Prentiss/Tara Lewis
Warnings: None
Tara and Emily, now retired from the BAU, decide to expand their family by adopting a cat.
Read on AO3 or below the cut
Since retiring from the BAU, Tara and Emily had a lot more free time and a lot more space and energy in their lives for new things.  At first, they didn’t quite know what to do with themselves.  Their lives had revolved around work for so long; their entire married life together had been spent traveling around the country and working long hours for the BAU.  Now, Emily was only teaching at the FBI Academy two days a week, and Tara was a freelance FBI consultant they brought in from time to time to do a psychological evaluation or testify as an expert witness.  They had all the time in the world to try new hobbies: Emily started taking guitar lessons, and Tara planted an herb garden in the backyard.  It brought them joy and kept them occupied, but they still wanted more.  They wanted to be needed.
Children had never really been part of either of their life plans, and even if it had, they were in their fifties now, and the idea of parenting young children at this stage in their life just seemed exhausting.  But the idea of having someone else in their home that they could love and care for together seemed like the perfect way to round out their retirement life.  And so they went to the animal shelter one Friday morning to find their new baby.  They were greeted by a friendly shelter volunteer in brightly colored overalls.
“Welcome!” they said, “I’m Kit.  What can I help you with today?”
“I’m Emily, and this is my wife Tara,” Emily said, “We’d like to adopt a cat.”
“That’s great!” Kit said, “Are you looking for a kitten or an adult cat?”
“Um, maybe like a young adult?” Tara said, looking to Emily for confirmation.
“Yeah, definitely,” Emily nodded, “Past the kitten stage, but still has a long life ahead of them.”
“And do either of you have experience owning cats before?” Kit asked.
“Um, a little bit,” Emily said, “I had a cat for a little while, but when I got a job overseas I gave him to my friend Penelope.”
“Okay, well, we’ve got several cats that might be a good fit for your family,” Kit said, “Let’s go meet some!”
They led Emily and Tara through a door to the kennels where the shelter kept the adoptable cats.  They stopped in front of one of the kennels and coaxed a little white cat to the door.
“This is Winnie,” they said, “She’s one and a half, and she loves to play.  She’s very energetic—some of the shelter volunteers call her feisty, but I think she just knows what she wants in life!”
“She’s adorable,” Emily said, holding her hand out for the cat to sniff, “What do you think, babe?”
“Definitely a cutie pie,” Tara agreed, “But I think we should meet a couple more cats before we pick one.”
“Of course,” Kit said.  They moved on to another kennel, where a handsome tuxedo cat was curled up in the back corner.  “That’s Mozart,” they said, “He’s very shy at first, but once he warms up to you, he’s the sweetest little guy.”
“I think we were hoping for a friendlier cat that would get along with our nieces and nephews,” Tara said, “We’re not parents, but we have children over to our house a lot.”
“Oh, okay,” Kit nodded, “I think I have the perfect cat for you.”
They led Tara and Emily down to the end of the row of kennels.  A big, fluffy, orange and white tabby perked up as soon as he saw Kit.  He let out a raspy little mewl and trotted up to the door of the kennel.  Tara crouched down and let him sniff her hand.  He purred and rubbed his cheek against the bars of the kennel.
“This is Sherman,” Kit said, “He’s three years old, and he loves to snuggle.  He might just be the friendliest cat I’ve ever met!”
“Can we take him out of the kennel?” Emily asked.
“Sure thing,” Kit said, “There’s a meeting room right through that door.”  They opened the door and picked Sherman up, and brought him into the meeting room to get acquainted with Emily and Tara.
“What else can you tell us about him?” Tara asked.
“Well, he’s been in the shelter for a little over a month, after his old owner moved in with a boyfriend who was highly allergic to him.  He got a clean bill of health from our vet, but he’s allergic to dairy, so we have to be careful about the treats we give him.  He likes to play with toys and climb up on things, but he’s pretty mellow, and most of the time he’d rather be snuggling with his people.”
At this point, Sherman had already curled up next to Emily, purring loudly as she scratched him behind the ear.
“I love him already!” Emily said.
“It looks like the feeling is mutual,” Kit laughed.
“There’s no way we can leave him here,” Tara said, tickling Sherman under his little white chin, “This is our cat.”
“I’ll go get the paperwork,” Kit said.  They went to the main office to get the adoption paperwork and Sherman’s vet records.  Emily and Tara were still doting on him when they came back.  Kit handed Emily a clipboard and a pen.  “I’ll just need you both to sign this,” they said, “And then he’s all yours.”
While Emily and Tara read over the forms and signed them, Kit picked up Sherman and put him in the cat carrier Emily and Tara had brought with them.  With all the paperwork signed, Kit handed over the cat carrier to Emily and the vet records and some informational pamphlets for new cat owners to Tara.
“Okay, Sherman,” they cooed at the cat in the carrier, “You’re gonna go home with your new moms now, buddy!”
Tara and Emily thanked Kit and carried their new cat out to the car.  Emily held the cat carrier in her lap as Tara drove them both home.  She pulled into the driveway, put the car in park, and turned to look at her wife and cat together.  She smiled and leaned across the center console to give Emily a kiss.  This was their family now: Tara, Emily, and Sherman, and they had many leisurely years of love and joy ahead of them.

After moving around the office and introducing herself to some of her new coworkers, Kengo and Alexia, who was actually one of her classmates at Britechester, she set to work on her first assignment!
So, Winnie is actually in the freelance artist career but I didn’t want her to just be stuck at home so I decided to get a little creative with her job inspired by the gameplays of some other simmers! Using the club system and a little imagination, she works in the “animation career”!

Look at Prince's baby handprints so freaking cute. Prince is finally happy in his little bassinet after crying for attention from his Winnie-which is the name that Winter chose to replace the term mom.
Upstairs Laila is working on one of her freelance gigs and the siblings are playing music together. Dove is practicing her violin skill for her job and Winter has decided to pick up singing again despite the painful memories of Grayson.

💊Backstory
Tilly grew up with her parents and her sister on a smaller island that is now part of the garden district. As a young girl, Tilly's middle-class parents doted on her endlessly, determined to give her a life better than their own. They worked hard to prepare her and her sister for a brighter future, hoping she would marry a wealthy man who could elevate their family's social standing. Rather than letting their coddling spoil her, these experiences led Tilly down a path of empathy and natural trust towards others.
When Tilly was younger, she fell for a man around her age named Peter Wyndham, whom she had met at a social gathering orchestrated by her mother. At the time, he was training to become a military medic and she had just finished her schooling; further apprenticing as a seamstress via a friend of her father's, who worked in the textile industry.
While not exactly the aristocrat her parents had hoped for, her parents overall approved of their relationship– most likely due to his noble last name, regardless of his debatable affiliation. They were married by the next year. She soon found her new life to be very isolating and suffocating. Tilly was so closed off from the outside world that when her parents died during a German bombing, the only person who told her was her husband. Tilly was expecting twins at this time, and the abrupt death of her parents gave her the names she was looking for to name her kids: Winifred and Chester.
When the Very Bad Thing occured, Winnie and Chester were under 13, and Tilly was forced to give them up. The 6 years between that incident and the introduction of Joy to the population was pure chaos for her. She kept her head down, and brought back her old skills as a seamstress to make ends meet while her husband worked on transitioning his career from military man to doctor.
Tilly's older sister, Joan Bright, her brother-in-law, Pv. Jonathan Bright, and two nephews, Nathaniel and Benson; mysteriously vanished a few months before the beginning of the Very Bad Thing. This is another memory she often tries to avoid thinking about, as Tilly and Joan were once quite close as kids.
When Joy was still being perfected, Tilly was one of the first test subjects to use it. After working as a freelance seamstress for a scientist of Haworth Labs, Tilly was informed of the trial runs for the drug, and was quick to volunteer. It only took one pill for her to realize this was exactly what she was missing in life. Joy effectively hid the loneliness and despair Tilly held away from herself.
At first, Tilly's husband couldn't have been happier. Not only was he relieved of tending to her emotional needs, but as a doctor seeking employment, her volunteer work had secured him a position at Haworth Labs. He'd only regret this once Tilly started her “tea parties.”
Following encouragement given by the scientists of Haworth Labs shortly after Joy was officially released for public consumption, Tilly held tea parties in which the use of Joy was encouraged and served on platters alongside lovely cakes and cookies she baked herself. She was one of the many early Joy adopters who normalized its frequent use for others.
After being lonely in her marriage for so long, Tilly found herself surrounded by people just like her. She still hosts these Joy tea parties to this day. She pretends not to notice her dwindling guests. She pretends not to notice the sawdust she now has to cut the flour for her cookies with. She pretends not to notice her husband's increasing emotional distance. She pretends not to notice an awful lot of things, including her own deepening ennui.
When life annoys, pop a joy! 💊

Help I started thinking about the whole "we can't see caelum anymore" angst with winnie the pooh quotes and I am s a d
"You may be gone from my sight, but you are never gone from my heart"
"It seems they had always been, and always would be friends. Time could change much, but not that"
"How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard"
"Goodbye? Oh no, please, can't we go back and do it all over again"
Freelancer can see Caelum because daemon government decided that lifting the veil for them will help our precious baby boy with this whole older people bigger problems he had. It has nothing to do with their empathy or how guarded their are.
...okay now when logic is out of the way
"Love is taking a few steps backward maybe even more to give way to the happiness of the person you love.”
—Winnie the Pooh
“If you live to be a hundred, I hope I live to be a hundred minus one day, so that I never have to live a day without you.”
—Winnie the Pooh

Winnie: So, what do you plan to do with that programming degree once you graduate?
Mina: Well, I’ll probably head back home and do some freelance work. There’s this big game studio I really want to work for but eh, I guess I’ll wait and see what happens.

S2 ep 3 reaction
I have no idea what's happening
Ok this is a pretty clever intro
Also I guess the main antagonist this episode is a bdsm, emo, vampire... named Jurgen
The look Sam gives Max when he's having his vision 💗💗💗
Lol Sam doesn't question the zombies until the Commissioner calls
"You know what they say about guys with big feet. They have big thongs."
Sybil is so done with Abe. Have a feeling they'll get back together tho 😒
Poor Leonard
Bosco's is closed :(
Sybil actually seems happy to see the boys 🥰
Sam thought Sybil was becoming a prostitute
"I'm not going back into that closet. Not after all we accomplished."
Don't trust Harry alone with Sybil 😕
Abe is sulking in Stinky's
Girl Stinky asks me to get rid of Abe and I'm like, "anything for you queen" (I don't actually know how to do that yet tho)
Why does Abe have confederate money?
Well, neither Stinky or Abe were helpful
C.o.p.s. once again are the most useful of the minor characters
I don't like the delivery mini game 😒
Superball!!!! My love 💓💘💗
"Superball." *thunder and horse winnie*
Oh hey, garlic cigarettes in the garbage... Sure that's useful considering y'know
Sam honey, why are you putting grave dirt in your coat
Oh, it was a brain... that's worse
Wait, how is the torch lit in a downpour
Oh hey, I figured out the garlic puzzel quick :)
Ah, I can’t take the cigs with me and Max won't eat them
It's nice of Superball to indulge Max by doing the voice
Jurgen is disrespectful. He must die
"I never knew Vampires were so... fruity." "Not all vampires, Max. Just the European ones."
Haha Max is dancing
Oh I can have Sam dance with the zombies
What a bicon, using finger guns
"Okay Jurgen, kill ya later."
"Is that your hand?" "Oops, sorry little buddy."
Haha, Jurgen looked like an idiot while nearly burning alive
Let's make the edges rhyme
Ew he drank Max's blood
Let's grab our cigs and go somewhere
Wait... the studio?
WAIT I thought midtown cowboys got canceled
Oh well.
Ok, apparently it's popular enough in Germany (?) that it's the only one show the studio films???
Oh, I see what I have to do.
And I know how to get the holy water too!
Aw, it gives Max a little halo 😇
Dumb bitch boy intentionally smokes something that can easily kill him.
Love that him drinking Max's holy blood seems to just give him indigestion.
Oh, he actually killed the boys. Now he really has to die.
At least they're zombies?
Zombie Lincoln
The boys don't understand the difference between Stone Abe and zombie abe
I'm going to harass people as zombies
Superball can't understand us 😞
I like that Sam and Max can only communicate in groans
Oh, we can talk to the zombies now.
"But we're the Freelance Police, we can't die!"
I have to get into the VIP lounge
Zombie Abe followed us into the factory
The game is running real slow for some reason 😴
I'm going to restart my computer and see if it'll let me update Steam
Ok, since it was the monster factory that made things freeze last time I'm going to go to the studio and to The Neighborhood first to see if I can find anything new.
Oh, I can’t go to the studio :(
Jesse James hand ran off
The hand has Girl Stinky! We have to save the problematic queen!
Okay, figured out how to get it stuck
Aw, she called the boys her heroes
Sybil completely unaffected by the boys being zombies
The moleman doesn't want us to touch anything haha
Oh I forgot about her soul mater
She just keeps talking to them as if they're not zombies
I clicked on Harry a bunch and Sam just... shoved his finger in Max's mouth??? "What are they doing?"
Ok I don't think I can do anything now so I'm going back to the Zombi Factory
Zombie abe followed us again
Whoa, it's Flint Paper!!!
Aw, he came to rescue Sam and Max 💕
Lol, he shot Abe's brain out
Oh, their souls are in a cage
The souls don't want to go back to their bodies????
Ok got the intenna to charge up the alchemy table
Lol, the boys are so dramatic while bringing the monster to life
"I am... alone." "You got us." "Please kill me."
Aw, we get to introduce him to Sybil
Aw, Sybil defending the Zombie boys from Harry's prejudice 🥰🥰🥰
Oh, we were able to set Harry up as a jerk
Aw, she kicked him out because he was mean to the boys 🥲
Oooh!? Agent Superball X Sybil??? I like!
Ok, got the chocolate, let's turn it to gold.
Oooh! I know how to get behind Flint now!
"Bleh! Flint tastes like cigarettes and cheap scotch."
Oh, so we're just leaving Flint on the ground?
"Wanna play doctor, Max?" "For the last time no-- OH! With the monster, sure."
Yay, monster has a proper name now
Superball thinks sybil is beautiful 🥺🥺🥺
I want him to end up with her not stone Abe or the monster!
Maybe in a fix-it fic
Sybil is a canon monster fucker
Superball is sad 😥
Oh no! She's going back to stone Abe! I knew it was going to happen
Sam and Max blowing kisses Yakko style at the camera
Pfft Girl Stinky is still tied up
Lol, soul Max's reaction to getting sucked back into a body
Also, they switched bodies!?
"Ah, so there's where you keep your gun." Uuuuh
"I bet those candy-assed vampire hunters just don't know how to do it."
Ok that's a pretty cool way to beat him actually

From the Archives: What Makes a Lady Fair?
This charming shot of a 22-year-old Julie Andrews was taken in New York in early 1958 when the young star was finishing her long two-year run in the original Broadway production of My Fair Lady and was about to return to London to helm the show’s premiere West End bow. The photo forms part of a two-page fashion spread in the March issue of Mademoiselle magazine with a companion shot on the facing page of Sally Ann Howes, the star who was stepping in to Julie’s shoes as Eliza Dolittle on Broadway. The two women are shown modelling various items of fashion apparel for the coming spring season: in Julie’s case, a beige blouse by Macshore Classics “tucked and bowed in the best ladylike tradition” and a “Sheffield watch with interchangeable suede strap” (“What Makes,” 127).
The image intrigues as a further instance of the extraordinary cultural impact of Julie’s My Fair Lady stardom and its mobilisation as a kind of pop ideal of 50s female fashionability. Subtitled “the magazine for smart young women”, Mademoiselle was a trailblazing force in mid-century publishing that targeted the then burgeoning new market of increasingly educated and independent middle-class women aged between 18-35 (Aron 2017). In a sharp departure from earlier women’s periodicals, Mademoiselle addressed its female readers as what editor-in-chief, Betsy Talbot Blackwell liked to call “whole persons,” young college-age women who were as likely to be interested in politics, culture, and art, as in traditional ‘feminine’ concerns of fashion and homemaking (Taylor, 70). Thus, alongside glossy couture spreads and cosmetics advertorials, the magazine ran articles about topical social issues, travel, career advice, and also placed a premium on showcasing fiction from important young writers of the day such as Sylvia Plath, James Baldwin, William Faulkner, and Dylan Thomas (Keller 2001).
It doesn’t take much to see how the mythos of transformed femininity at the heart of My Fair Lady would have resonated with Mademoiselle’s spirit of 50s-era liberal feminism. Indeed, the magazine was renowned for staging ‘Pygmalionesque’ makeovers of its own. One of Blackwell’s earliest innovations as editor of the magazine was to take:
“plain young women to New York, where she put them in stylish clothes, restyled their hair and makeup and then put their pictures in her magazine. The idea that an ordinary girl could be turned into a fashion model soon made Mademoiselle must reading for young women across the land” (“Betsy,” II-2).
This strategy was developed further with the magazine’s highly publicised  annual internship programmes where a select group of twenty young women would be brought to New York each summer to work as trainee editors, stylists and graphic designers culminating in an annual issue that they would produce. A number of very notable American women got their professional start through the Mademoiselle intern programme including Sylvia Plath, Joan Didion, Joyce Carol Oates, Francine du Plessix Gray, Barbara Kruger, and Ali McGraw (Keller 2001; Wolitzer 2013).*
A certain visual thematic of (proto-)feminist empowerment might also be discerned in the photograph of Julie. Dressed in the advertiser’s smart business-like apparel with her head tilted up and her gaze focussed heavenward, the young star appears resolutely poised and assured. Framed in full centred mid-shot, Julie’s left arm is positioned upright -- a gesture designed to showcase the watch, no doubt, but that also evokes images of strong-armed power and authority -- as she holds aloft a posy of violets, an indexical reference to her triumph as the original Eliza, a role that she had firmly in hand. The accompanying copy repeats the undertones of power and success, describing Julie as a “veteran at the business of being a fair lady” and mentioning the impending transfer of her hit show to London (“What Makes,” 127).
This liberal feminist ethos extends equally to the other side of the camera. Mademoiselle made a point of hiring women professionals wherever possible, including photographers in an era when fashion photography was still a heavily male-dominated preserve. This particular photoshoot was taken by Vivian Crozier, a house photographer who did a lot of work for Mademoiselle in the 50s and early-60s, as well as freelance assignments for other periodicals including Seventeen, American Girl, and Parade Picture (Smith 1955; Mayers 1977). There isn’t a lot of readily available information about Crozier. In 1969 she was listed in the Sixth Edition of the Who's Who of American Women (”Area Women,” 9). After that she seems to have retired from professional magazine photography and set up a small commercial studio in central New Jersey where she did portraits, weddings and publicity work but also continued the Mademoiselle tradition of opportunity-building for young women with special workshops “for girls interested in fashion modelling” (Mayers, 8). In the 1970s, Crozier continued periodically to submit her work to local galleries and exhibitions where, pleasingly, she cited photographing Julie Andrews as one of the highlights of her career (Herman, 14).
Notes:
* In an interesting Julie-related footnote, the young women who secured these annual summer internships with Mademoiselle would all be housed together at New York’s “women-only” Barbizon Hotel. The popular nickname for these young hopefuls who came to the big city with dreams of success? The “Millies” (Aron, 2017).
