WIP Intro: Ouroboros (Working title)

Summary: A spacecraft on its way to new civilization is at risk when a humanoid species declares war.

Earth consumed itself, leaving only ruin in its wake. World leaders combined what little resources they had and gave humanity its last chance: An exodus, into the great beyond.

Now, in a distant galaxy, those who remain journey to Thorir, a planet near identical to Earth--with a few adjustments. As they prepare to begin their new life, another is born.

Her name is Ce'Lindrí. Her people once lived on Thorir, and now they don't. It's up to her, and only her, to deliver vengeance.

Genre: Science fiction

Features: Non-human MC, 2 POV, morally gray characters, unhappy ending, extremely obvious environmental themes, etc.

Josephine "The Jackhammer" Ramsay is famous. An Admiral in the Queen's Navy, she's known for her victories in war when she was younger, and as of late, her relentless drive to hunt down the pirate scourge. As her son, Percival is expected to follow in her footsteps. But his mother casts a long shadow, and Percival would do almost anything to escape from under it.

Now twenty-three and the third lieutenant on the HMS Queen Imogen, Percival is well on his to captaincy, and he knows that he will one day surpass his mother and pirates everywhere will fear his name. Until the Queen Imogen is attacked by a ship flying the Jolly Roger. And not just any pirate ship. The Ouroboros was once a ship in the Queen's Navy, until her crew turned on her captain and mutinied, killing those who would remain loyal. Including Percival's childhood love, Catriona Matheson.

But when they're boarded, Percival discovers that Catriona is still very much alive, as the Captain Alistair of the Ouroboros. And when Alistair gives the crew of the Queen Imogen a chance to join his ship, Percival eagerly agrees. He intends on discovering the pirate's secret island home, reporting it back to his mother, and destroying their threat forever.

But as he grows closer to Alistair and the rest of the crew, he begins to doubt everything he's ever been taught about the his country, pirates, and his own mother.

OC/Writing Art Asks

For the character:

Pencil: does this character have any "sketchy" habits? Have they ever broken the law? Do they regret it?

Pen: what's one minor moment your character regrets? A small mistake, but something they "can't erase"?

Paintbrush: How often does your character "brush over" conflict instead of facing it head on? Is there something specific they don't like to face, or do they avoid conflict as a whole?

Marker: what's one thing your character would never tattoo on their body, even if they were paid a million dollars for it?

Crayon: what was your OC like when they were four years old? Were they loud? Shy? Were they the resident "weird kid" or did they get along with others their age?

Colored Pencil: if given the choice, would this character splurge on an expensive (but potentially worthwhile) branded product, or buy a low-budget alternative even if the quality suffers?

Copics: what is this character's most expensive habit or hobby? Do they ever feel guilty about the money they spend on it?

Graphite: what's something decently common that your character does in a unique or different way? (like how graphite is present in all pencils, but not everyone uses pure graphite)

Charcoal: share any unique physical features about this character that are not scars or tattoos.

Tortillon: does your OC "blend in" with the people around them? Physically? Metaphorically?

Pastels: Give me three colors that best represent your OC. Now give me three colors that your OC likes best. Is there an overlap?

Chalk: what was one activity this character enjoyed with their sibling(s) as a kid? If they don't have siblings, what they did with their neighborhood friends

Eraser: what's one way this character has changed over time? Either over the course of their story, or over the course of designing them as an author.

Palette: list four of your character's primary skills, then share at least two ways these skills might blend or overlap

For the work:

Starry Night: are there any scenes in this work that take place at nighttime? Is this significant, or just the passing of time?

Mona Lisa: oh, it's the fanfic writer's favorite word. Do a find-and-replace on the word "smirk" and share any lines that pop up.

The Scream: are there any moments in this work that you think could scare a reader? Are there any moments where the characters themselves are profoundly scared?

Persistence of Memory: are there any moments in this work where a character's memory plays a strong role? Either an individual memory, or simply a character's ability to recall the past.

Girl With a Pearl Earring: are there any moments in this work where a character's clothing or accessories play a major role?

(WIP) EAT AND BE EATEN SIGNED THE OUROBOROS

The OUROBOROS, gaurdian of LIFE, gaurdian of DEATH... The OUROBOROS, deity of rebirth, renewal, and balance... The OUROBOROS, an infinite cycle, the endless fight to survive, the unwavering focus on the task at hand... the blind eye to the surroundings

I quite like how this turned out :3

I didnt draw it in the usual pose of it eating itself, because although thats the main like detail of the ouroboros (the serpent that endlessly eats itself to surivive) ive turned it into a deity, and i dont really want it to just be constantly eating itself given the roles ive bestowed upon it.

Thats why i gave it the rows of skulls along its tail, to represent its endless feast. The spiral horns represent the infinite loop as well, although i wouldve liked to add more spirals to its design. ...im not too sure why i gave it wings, it might look better without them ngl

I like the fact that its purposly made to look strange, its emotions unreadable, blank stare that never wavers, the oddities of a goat

I wanted to keep the pallete more natural with OURO, not entierly sure why, but i feel it should be... "plainer" than other deitires

Uhhhh i probably have more headcanons to write but :P

Anyways IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ANYONE STUDYIN XAELS LANGUAGE: NONE of these symbols are new! I just made them look sharper for aesthetic purposes!!

I am finally back folks! I was tagged for this by the lovely @asher-writes. This is the start of a new story for the Ouroboros of Destiny series since I have that on my mind right now. Enjoy the angst of Meredith facing off against the guilt in her heart for pushing Llachlan right into his paternal grandmother's arms: Archlector Bloodvein sighed as she washed her face, chancing a glance into the mirror, only to freeze when a face that was not her own stared back at her. Grey-blue eyes narrowed and thin lips curled into a satisfied sneer beneath glossy black hair, You really thought you were so clever trying to erase my existence from the history books, didn’t you? Meredith Gruksdottir stepped back, fear momentarily gripping her heart at the sound of the all too familiar, imperious whisper in her ear. She scowled at the image in the mirror, “Better for the knowledge that a mortal woman became a Demon Prince to be lost to history than for others to follow in yer footsteps.” she snapped. The woman in the mirror smirked and lazily looked down at her fingernails, Oh, and how is that going right now, hmm? From where I’m sitting every attempt you’ve made at stamping out my followers entirely has failed and you didn’t exactly ask the goblin to not add in that little detail to his reports. “Aye, but it’s not like anyone’s reading them.” An elegantly raised eyebrow was all that met Meredith’s retort, causing doubt to grip her chest. Her scowl deepened into a glower as she reached for her Holy Symbol.

He felt the lingering sense of abandonment that he should, but that wasn't what upset him most. He wept for what could have been; for all that he had wanted, with Daemon. To be forced to question what it would be like to go on *without* him filled him with disgust.

He wept, for how Daemon had made him think twice, that he had cast a shroud of confusion and heartbreak onto something that so far, had been sacred, and he had thought, theirs alone. Could things go back to the way they were at all now?

The tension at the Red Keep between the Targaryens and the Hightowers seemed undeniably on the cusp of war, and all hung in the balance in waiting of his Father's eventual end, just as he waited now to know if time were to take this, the most important of things from him, too.

He could not surrender what he had fought so long for, since before he had come into possession of Vhagar and had nothing to fight for back then except for his own pointless survival. He couldn't succumb to Daemon, if this is how Daemon intended for him to feel - to *lose.* For *them* to lose together.

One day, none of this would matter. He would sit atop of the Iron Throne on the back of his brother's failures - The King - recounting the ashes of these memories only to flick them away like specks of dust on his sleeve. Or, perhaps another way was possible, and Daemon might finally decide to stand by him, to fight for him, and the gold and black flash of victory would begin anew. That was what he would want, too, was it not? Was their vision not shared? If he could save Daemon's beloved Rhaenyra, if he could manage to spare her, would Daemon not find some method of meeting him halfway? It was a fair bargain.

Perhaps Daemon did not trust him as he had thought, and likely, Rhaenyra wouldn't dare to. He himself did not trust her, but nor did he fear her either. Perhaps he simply feared what she had, while he was now forced to stand on the sidelines watching her marriage to *his* beloved unfold.

He curled into himself and sobbed. However pathetic, he didn't try to stop it.

As a small boy, he had twisted his arm falling out of a black cottonwood in the Keep grounds. Alicent had whispered in his ear as he whined and tears began to fall, "Tears are our gift from the Stranger. Without them, everyone alive would drown in their own stagnant humours."

His tears dropped into grey spots on his pillowcase. Every time he'd been upset enough to cry, it was as if a key had unlocked a vicious whorl in his chest and he had lost the key for closing it back up.

I hadn't wanted to include a scene of the aftermath of the night that Daemon shared news of he and Rhaenyra's wedding initially, but I had a thought that was able to take him out of being swallowed by his feelings of abandonment for a moment where he is not only able to logically pick apart that Daemon hasn't truly abandoned him, to his knowledge, but also to get to the root of what really hurts him the most which was his own hope for the situation and relationship. I feel like this is as close as it may get to that time frame for now until I'm able to update Ouroboros (though I've written much more for the other chapter(s) I have so far.

The Cast

Drav Aldana

Age: 29

A promising soldier and son of Admiral Aldana, Drav is completely dedicated to protecting what is left of the human race. He is more introspective and less reactive than his brother, and the two have frequent disagreements about what it means to “do the right thing”.

Niklas Aldana

Age: 27

The adopted son of Admiral Aldana, Nik is an embittered farmer forced into an occupation that demeans and exhausts him. He is inspired by Ce’Lindrí’s arrival to bring to light humanity’s many injustices.

Arelle Rees (Uh-rel)

Age: 25

The daughter of S.C. Exodus’ Captain Jaina Rees. She is, for the most part, just a pretty face happy to take advantage of her status. She spends most days trailing after Drav, teasing Nik, and exploring the Exodus’ many, many amenities.

Ce’lindrí (Kah-lin-dree)

Age: 25 (physically)

She is the remaining member of the Dhécí, a humanoid species native to the planet Thorir.

When she finds herself about a spacecraft surrounded by nothing but humans and blinding technology, she is caught between the chance to experience a new culture and preserving what is left of her own.

Got tagged my @theviridianbunny and some days ago by @dreamskug @therealnightcity and @aggravateddurian Thank you all chooms. Sorry, my social game is horrible but rly appreciate you're tagging me anyway ��

I don't really have something new to show bc brain is strange these days. And 2024 so far presented me weird vibes only kinda. In addition the next two months will be a little stressfull aswell bc I'll be moving to a new place so I'll see how much time I have for the fun things.

But here are some WIP thoughts anyway.

Art

That f-ing Kurt drawing I started over a month ago needs the last finishng touches. By that I mean redrawing his face over and over again till my perfectionism is satisfied.

Here have a small detail. Tumblr compression will eat up all the textures anyway.

Still have that Witcher Cyberpunk Crossover next on my list but the urge to draw Aon became so strong the last days so probably will go for that.

Writing

Currently rotting on my 'Like Napalm' chapters. Will actually take some small timeline changes in the chapter that's already on AO3 bc the two ambassadors of Kurt x Myers (you know who you are) gaslighted me so hard into that ship that I will incorporate it in my fic. But it'll help to close the last plottholes I had so thanks frens.

I rly want to do more photos cause it's a lot of fun but I am already putting so much work on myself lmao. Probably will be an occasional thing even if it seems you ppl really liked the pics I took. Still like the idea of making it a series and not just randomly doing some shots.
