location: laurel's house
Laurel stepped out onto her backyard terrace, wasting no time in taking a pack of cigarettes out of her pocket, withdrawing two, and putting both in her mouth to light them at once. One was safely tucked into the crevice of the ashtray that remained a fixture on the single table she'd put outside to give the space some sense that a person actually lived in the house. While smoking two cigarettes at once was something that she had done and would do again, the second one wasn't for her, it was for the person she knew was currently headed up the drive.
She sat and shot off a quick text to Maggie to let her know that she was around the back and to just come on through. Not that the other woman really needed the invitation — she was, after all, the only person in Aurora Bay with a spare key to Laurel's place.
She raised her cigarette to her lips, taking a long drag and enjoying the quiet for a moment. If she loved anything about this town, it was the quiet. She'd never gotten anything like it during all of her years in New York. When she heard footsteps behind her, she picked up the other cigarette and held it up over her head without looking back. "Thank god you're here," she said. "I really thought I was going to have to smoke both of these alone."

"When we pick up the phone, we say 'Hello' But what is 'Hello'?
It is not a greeting but rather the name of a person.
It is 'Margaret Hello,' the fiancée of the telephone inventor 'Graham Bell.'
It was the first word he said in the initial test of his invention,
and it has been used since then as the opening of any phone call worldwide."

I went from only two winter coat sets to having a lot more cold weather wear. Since I sold Samantha's Beforever coat, everything except for Rebecca's outfit is new.
Went with the calico dress for Julie since she wore the casual outfit a few months ago. Also since I had Kaya wearing her winter accessories previously, she gets to wear the fancy shawl this time.
The hardest to dress was Kirsten because her fingers kept catching the sweater. Hardest to pose was Maryellen, whose skates I think have permanently scratched my dresser.
It was a close race between Kirsten’s winter woolens and skating outfit, but Lindsey’s Valentine’s party outfit had a strong lead all the way.

"I still never really know what I'm supposed to be saying here," Lucky admits after he had taken a sip of water and situated himself across from her. It's far from their first counselling session, but given he's never naturally been a chatty person without alcohol or drugs in the mix, he's certain anything he could think to say would end up boring her in a situation that was inescapable.
( He's never been more aware of the ticking of his watch than each time he found himself sat in that same seat. )
"It's been a good week, for the most part."

Minotaur: Last time you were truly happy?
"Mags and I went up to LA a couple weekends ago to do a gay bar crawl and we ended up at this club... and, god, we must've been the oldest people in the fucking place, but I'd had so much tequila that I didn't care. I don't think I've danced like that since college, if I've ever done it at all. And yeah, of course I was happy, that wasn't actually the moment. I woke up on Maggie's couch at the asscrack of dawn and couldn't go back to sleep, so I made this massive breakfast, and I must've still been drunk but it actually came out un-fucked. I brought it up to her, we had breakfast in bed and... I don't know, I thought, 'This is what it's like to be eighteen and to have a best friend and to be happy.'"

The more the squad grows, the longer it takes to change everyone’s outfits. (I even ordered another doll while dressing them). Addy is missing because she is at the “spa.”
What’s new: Kaya’s trading outfit, Josefina’s dress & vest and herb-gathering accessories, Marie-Grace doll and Ariel’s day dress, Kirsten’s on the trail outfit, Samantha’s middy outfit, Rebecca’s summer outfit, Kit’s scooter outfit, Molly’s Camp Gowonagin uniform, Maryellen’s vacation playsuit, Julie’s swimsuit, AGoT picnic outfit, Cinderella’s day dress, Felicity’s riding habit, Elizabeth’s riding habit, Samantha’s tea party outfit.
Rebecca’s summer outfit is one of my all-time favorites, and I’m surprised it’s taken me so long to purchase it. I also love the outfit from Kirsten’s short story, and Marie-Grace looks adorable in Ariel’s dress.
