Tumblr media
┆彡 KEEHO [ 기호 ]
girl why would he judge, he has a lot of plushies too
he thinks it’s actually really cute that u n him have a similar hobby:(
will deffo buy you matching ones 🥹
loves when you come around and bring your plushie…
… and then leave it (accidentally, you swear) so he can cuddle w it:(
is a proud father ™️ of them!!!
also loves falling asleep in ur bed because you have a huge collection and it’s just so warm and cozy 🥹
he lets his inner child heal completely when he’s with you
(and your plushies)
((deffo has a fav one of yours but swore not to tell you, 'so the others don’t get jealous' ❤️‍🩹 ))
┆彡 INTAK [ 인탁 ]
he’s very neutral about it 😭
won’t tease you but won’t get really excited either
however will gush over how cute you are when you fall asleep with a bunch of plushies in your arms:(
also will suport your little hobby no matter what
you’re broke but want a plushie? he’s already paying. there’s one that you’ve been eyeing and it’s back in stock? he’s hyping you up as you buy it. wanna dress the plushies? oh don’t you worry, he will help you
i believe he’d be also like an old dog like 😭 he’s sit unbothered while you place the plushies on him and then takes photos :(
┆彡 THEO [ 테오 ]
taeyang and you had some wine when he stayed over at your place and it’s not like you told him before that you have a bunch of plushies…
but that man was so drunk that he yelled out upon seeing them
"that’s a whole ass army, what the hell? can i hug all of them at once?!"
yeah he’s very much in love with them
even cuddles some to sleep
but then when he wakes up he pretends like nothing happened
stacks them on you while you still sleep…
and when you stir awake and ruin his tower, he smothers your face in kisses
"what? why? are you still drunk?" you ask sleepily and he just grins against your skin
"your plushies are cute… but not as cute as you" is all he says
(will definitely randomly pretend to get into a staring contest with one of the plushies)
(and then has the audacity to fuss that 'the soulless state of the plushie' made him lose)
(whatever you say, boss)
┆彡 JIUNG [ 지웅 ]
you’d invite him to sleep over one day and while you goofed around n had fun
you totally forgot about your plushies
so when you laid down in bed, you heard jiung shuffle a bit
"can i kick the little guy off? he’s getting in my way and i just wanna cuddle you" he asked quietly, a bit unsure and you let out the loudest gasp
"yeah, just put him away gently" you giggle at his cuteness and how he cared abt the plushie:(
jiung thought it’s really cute that you have a lil army of plushies hehe
and esp how your cheeks adorably dusted with pink when you spoke abt them
loves naming them ☹️☹️☹️
(even if they have names already but who would care?!)
┆彡 SHOTA [ 翔太 ]
i mean come on he’s an angel 🥹
he would get so excited if you told him you have plushies n still sleep with them:(
would love to know everything about them, names, where did u get them from, the material they’re made of, which character they represent…
and if you have pokémon plushies???
girl he’s ready to marry you on spot
however.
h o w e v e r.
he steals them.
the first time it happens you’re like "well maybe it got lost in the laundry? or got kicked off the bed?" so you brush it off
but then more and more go missing…
and one day you see YOUR plushie on HIS bed as he is facetiming you
"i can’t sleep without them" >:(
and mf woukd either go "the ransom is a pokémon card pack" or "then come over and sleep with me"
┆彡 JONGSEOB [ 종섭 ]
you were a bit nervous when you invited him over for the first time, especially since you decided to tell him about your secret
seob could sense something was wrong but he assumed it’s just the fact that you’re gonna have him over
so he tried to ease the tension and pointed at the plushies on your bed
"you still sleep with those?" he asked, half amused, half… oh.
the second he saw your smile drop and eyes turning away in shame, it (kinda) clicked: you were stressed to tell him that
"sorry, i know it’s childish… i can throw them out if it makes you uncomfortable…" you murmured sadly and his whole world collapsed
pampers you and showers you in kisses, reassuring you that he doesn’t mind and he was just joking:(
it takes him a while but finally there’s a smile on your face
treats them extra gently and protects them from falling from the bed:(
but he’s just a boy man after all and he just gets this… impulsive thoughts to punch them when you’re not around 🧍‍♀️

Hi! Big fan. Wanted to ask-- how did yall develop the structure/audio style of the Silt Verses? Where did yall draw from? I love the show because it's one of the first really fresh, creative takes on the audio drama medium I've seen since Nightvale--your blending of diagetic & nondiagetic sound and dialog is very lucid and flowing; it's vivid and easy to follow *because* it's not so hung up on an in-universe explanation for why the audience can hear the characters and action. The montages especially are just exceptional.
Hi and thank you so much! The mix of diagetic sound, dialogue, narration, etc, has honestly been an evolving and organic aspect of the show rather than something that was drawn from a master-plan. We knew we wanted to do a full-cast audiodrama, but we'd never worked with actual sound design before, directly or indirectly (and we wanted to establish an intimate, confessional aspect to the storytelling that contrasted with the secrecy, lying, and spitefulness in Carpenter and Faulkner's initial exchanges) - hence the narrated segments, and we've dialled them up and down for various purposes as we've gone on.
The montages this season are, I think, more obviously and directly drawn from television; I'm a massive fan of the four-minute montage that closes out The Wire's season finale, which manages to cram in final glimpses of 15-20 protagonists and antagonists across a dozen different locations, demonstrating in a heartbeat who's managed to change their life for the better and who's repeating the same old cycles - while also underlining the fact that there's an entire vast world beyond the central cast, and life goes on there as well.
This is the kind of broad-scope, location-and-POV-jumping storytelling and worldbuilding that as far as I'm aware, we don't see very much of in audiodrama (I'd guess partly because audiodramas tend to focus in tightly on a few close characters, partly because creators understandably fear that the work will become incoherent or impossible to follow.)
But what's really interesting to me about that sequence is that while the montage is geared towards its own medium (including the very deliberate contrast between the silent conspiracies of the drug dealers and the noisy applause that greets the white-collar criminals and establishment figures), The Wire has previously worked to develop such a rich audio vocabulary that with a few tweaks, you really could make this scene work entirely without visuals.
We can already recognise the sounds of police brutality, corner boys yelling out the latest product, the horns of the cargo ships down at the docks, the smash of vials and the sound of running footsteps, we can hear the environmental shifts from a prison yard to a sterile office to the projects - and we can understand that these simple repeating SFX are conveying the central theme that nothing has changed in Baltimore but the players.
In other words, there's no reason you can't accomplish something as absurdly ambitious as that sequence in an audiodrama, so long as you've already done a good job of conveying the thematic and emotional significance of a few individual sounds to the audience - and I think that's really, really exciting for audio storytelling.

The Deputy of Humanity
In August 1790, Robespierre, then deputy in the National Assembly, received a letter from a young man in Aisne. The subject of the letter was of little consequence in the grand scheme of things: the author was expressing his concern that the free monthly markets for grain and sheep in his village of Blérancourt might be moved to the rival village of Coucy.
The subject of the letter may have been trivial, but its author was not. Louis Antoine Saint-Just, not yet twenty-three, was quickly outgrowing local politics and had his eyes on debuting on the national stage. In around two years’ time, he would become one of Robespierre’s closest allies. But back in 1790, the young man only knew him “like God, through miracles” ("comme Dieu, par des merveilles"). This would be the first contact between the two men.
The letter has been widely translated, quoted, and speculated on. It is very well-written, with the effusive admiration and almost hero worship of the young man practically jumping off the page. Whether Saint-Just was entirely genuine or not is hardly consequential. Robespierre clearly found his admiration touching because he kept the letter until the end of his life.
The fact that Robespierre kept the letter is a sweet gesture that can be interpreted in a myriad of different ways. Perhaps he enjoyed the flattery, or maybe he wanted to keep a memento of the beginning of their friendship with Saint-Just. Maybe he simply forgot to throw it away. In my opinion, it's not very important.
What I find more interesting and revealing about Robespierre's character is that a young lieutenant colonel of the National Guard of the department of Aisne felt empowered to raise his provincial concerns to a deputy who wasn't even representing his constituency. Why would he do that? Setting aside Saint-Just's audacity and desire for recognition, the simple reason is that he knew he would be heard.
Since the days of the Estates General, Robespierre had not only been gaining popularity but was also notorious for standing up for the interests of the common man beyond his own province (later on department). For all the flattery, Saint-Just was right: Robespierre wasn’t only the deputy from Arras; he was “[the deputy] of humanity and the Republic (1)”. He frequently weighed in, as a dissenting voice, on matters of national importance, maintaining a consistent stance that always favoured the underdog. This was nothing new. His entire career in Arras had been built on helping the common man. On a national stage, he vocally continued that work.
He opposed the king's veto power over constitutional laws and emphasized the sovereignty of the nation over monarchical traditions. He also opposed the exclusion of "passive" citizens (2) from the National Guard and advocated for extending voting rights. All this, along with his defense of civic equality for various groups, including actors, Protestants, and Jews, solidified his position as a defender of the people.
Despite facing mockery from royalist publications and some of his peers, he remained steadfast in his dedication to the universal principles of the Revolution, with the most crucial principle being the sovereignty of the people. If the people are sovereign, then their grievances are significant. It's understandable that Saint-Just would reach out to him regarding the issue with the village market. He wasn't the only one.
For what it's worth, Robespierre probably didn’t intervene in the matter, but Blérancourt ultimately did retain its markets.
Translation (3)
Blérancourt, near Noyon, August 19, 1790
You who support the faltering homeland against the torrent of despotism and intrigue, you whom I know only, like God, through miracles; I address you, sir, to ask you to join me in saving my sad country.
The town of Coucy has transferred (so the rumour goes here) the free markets from the village of Blérancourt. Why should the cities swallow up the privileges of the countryside? Then, nothing will remain for the latter but the taille (direct tax) and taxes! Please, support with all your talent a petition that I am sending by the same mail, in which I ask for my inheritance to be joined to the national domains of the district so that my country may retain a privilege without which it must starve.
I do not know you, but you are a great man. You are not just the representative of a province; you are that of humanity and the Republic. Please ensure that my request is not scorned.
I have the honour of being, sir, your humble and obedient servant,
Saint-Just,
elector (4) in the department of Aisne.
Notes
(1) Here Saint-Just doesn't refer to Republic as a form of government, but uses the word as a substitute for nation/country. In 1790 France was a constitutional monarchy.
(2)Passive citizens were those who, for a variety of reasons (mostly tax related), were not allowed to vote. (3) The parts that are in bold, are underlined in the original . As usual, this is my own translation and you can surely find much better ones out there!
(4) Touchy subject...
(BONUS) The letter is Recto-Verso. The small red arrows in the image indicate where the back page starts. I edited the two sides in one image for ease of reading.
Source
I really like Saint-Just but his handwriting is just as bad as mine (yes. I can barely read mine either). The french text of the letter comes from:
Saint-Just, Louis Antoine Léon. Œuvres. Paris: Gallimard, 2014

The voluntary/involuntary debate (-is making me lose my mind)
I don't see anyone saying this, but something being missed in the whole "therianthropy (and otherkinity) is completely involuntary!" conversation is that so much of the argument is overcorrection, and it's being treated as a binary when the lines are all grey. Which makes the constant back and forth feel very tiring.
First: context
10-ish years ago (even today in some crotchety circles), therianthropy-focused spaces were chomping at the bit to "weed out the fluff" due to the surrounding alt culture at the time (teen wolves) and the release of a few documentaries that many considered quite cringe-y and embarrassing. They went "oh god, we can't be associate with those weird people" and, while that wasn't the only contributor to the gatekeeping and grilling culture at the time, it was a significant one. So any new therians hoping to join communities were often grilled the hell out of, because people wanted to check if they were ""real"" therians and not those "fluffy teen werewolves" on TV. Therianthropy wasn't a game or a trend, it's a part of you, which is true. But "it's not a game" got bastardized into "it's involuntary" due to overcorrection and a lack of preserving nuance. Regardless if you think you were born a therian or if someone goes "I really want to be a [nonhuman animal]" and starts to embrace that identity, that's still therianthropy. "I want to be this, therefore I'm going to be this, and I am this" is still therianthropy.
This problem isn't unique to therianthropy either, "otherkinity must be involuntary" is also a result of overcorrection, more specifically due to the ableism and damage kinnie culture has done to the fictionkin community. Dragonheart Collective wrote a concise essay on this, so I will link that [right here] rather than repeat things, other than I have noticed "voluntary" be conflated with "kinnie" when it should not be. "Being kin isn't just relating to or liking something" got bastardized into "otherkinity is involuntary" by the community. Regardless if you think you were born otherkin or if someone goes "I really want to be a [character or nonhuman creature]" and starts to embrace that identity, that's still otherkinity "I want to be this, therefore I'm going to be this, and I am this" is still otherkinity.
Second: nuance.
No, involuntary doesn't inherently mean "it's a game". What counts as voluntary or involuntary is so blurry that a common conclusion can rarely even be reached on what it means. Things that have been seen considered voluntary:
Noticing the identity and choosing to embrace it versus shove it down and dismiss it
Waking up one day
Really wanting to be something and deciding to embrace it, versus dismissing it
Was born with the identity but picks and chooses which parts they prefer to focus on and explore
etc. along the above lines
And these are all perfectly fine ways of experiencing therianthropy and otherkinity, people have been having experiences like that for years. This is completely normal and nothing new and it's so tiring seeing people point fingers at places that these things didn't even come from, like TikTok.
"But what about linking then?"
This debate is much older than "-linking" terminology, which in and of itself is a product of this very debate. People made new words because so many were arguing if someone's identity is real if it originates in a particular way. This doesn't change how "-link" terminology should be used today, but it is worth noting that those are perfectly normal ways to experience otherkinity and therianthropy even if these other terms exist. It means you can use whichever personally feels best to you. It does not mean that people need to be shoved out of the non-link labels.

The characters of "Baki the Grappler" and what irritates them.
Baki:
• Perhaps I should say that he is a pretty calm person and even if something annoys him, he will not do anything about it. He can't stand it, he's just too lazy to deal with it.
• He is annoyed by everything that interferes with his comfort. It can be people, it can be animals or insects.
• If they annoy him enough to make him move away, he will naturally deal with them.
Hanayama:
• Irritants? It is quite calm, but it can also be brought to a boil. But he is terrible in anger.
• He is annoyed by the touchiness of some people. He believes that it's okay to occasionally take offense at significant misconduct, but if a person takes offense at every phrase, it really annoys him. He tries to avoid the company of such people.
• In the company of such personalities, Hana tries to keep even more silent. For him, such people are just looking for a reason to be offended.
Katsumi:
• It is quite easy to provoke him. He is easily irritated. He is too emotional to hold back and easily enters into discussions.
• He is annoyed by pessimistic people. He just doesn't understand personalities who are constantly in search of something bad, negative. But it's half the trouble for him. After all, pessimists spread their speculations to others, thereby spoiling the mood.
• He tries to avoid such people. Honestly. He is essentially an optimist and indeed Katsumi is tired of convincing them that their point of view is wrong.
Jack:
• calm. Outwardly, it does not react at all. However, he feels contempt inside.
• He is annoyed by helpless people. Well, it's kind of clear that everyone is sometimes helpless, he is too, and it pisses him off. He hates it when he's helpless. And in others, he hates the fact that they are not only helpless, but also because of this they begin to hang on others, shift responsibility onto them.
• he tries in every possible way not to become a victim of such people and tries not to become the same himself.
Retsu:
• super tolerant, super understanding.
• perhaps the only thing that annoys him is lies. Just why? Why do people start lying? Do they think it will save them? No. As a result, it will only get worse for them. Do they think that their lodges are not visible? That's not so. He just can't figure it out. It's weird for him and it annoys him.
• it is for this reason that he avoids liars, but it is almost impossible. If he realizes that he is facing a liar, then he behaves more restrained, politely detached.
Shibukawa:
• Oh, my God, he's seen so much already. He believes that nothing can annoy him anymore. Super tolerant. But that's not the case, he still has painful spots.
• He is annoyed by insensitive, non-empathic people. Yes, it's pretty simple. But what could be worse when a person has a difficult life situation, and others only put pressure on him, do not want to understand him? He does not understand this, which is why these qualities infuriate him.
• He believes that such people should be avoided so as not to spoil his mood.

So I decided to pick up physical copies of The Vampire and His Pleasant Companions from Yen Press on a whim the other day. I've been in such a nostalgia hole about Ragawa's works thanks to the Hanayume 50th celebrations and I remembered her manga adaptation of Konohara Narise's novels had restarted not that long ago. It made sense to get the books and begin a catchup re-read before the fifth volume comes out in English.
Tumblr media
I'll be honest, I don't remember much about the Kyuketsuki to Yukai na Nakamatachi novels or manga from when I first encountered them. I had the first two manga volumes in Japanese at one point, but gave them away when the manga went on hiatus years ago. However, upon beginning my catchup re-read in English I was struck by how much the story resonated with me now.
If you've never read the series before now, long story short from Yen Press, "When a vampire from Nebraska named Al gets frozen in bat form, he winds up in Japan under the care of a dark and mysterious man covered in a bloody scent!"
I'd like to get into why I think this series is worth picking up now and for that it's probably easier to throw my ramblings under a cut.
I feel like the humorous elements of the series are what get talked about in the (admittedly scant) English language reviews for the series and, while the whole setup can be quite amusing, the more serious elements are what actually makes it stand out from other vampire tales with romantic elements. While everything is exaggerated, there are some very "real" aspects that help The Vampire and His Pleasant Companions stand out in an endless sea of vampire tales.
For example, Al being bitten by a vampire wasn't a ticket to easy street. There was nothing glamorous about what happened to him. That bite ruined his life and through no fault of is own, he rapidly became destitute. Vampirism in fiction is often shown leading characters to social isolation, but not necessarily to poverty. Given that Al has lost everything that connected him to his previous life, it makes sense that in our current capitalistic society he'd also lose access to even the most basic things our societal identities afford us -- including housing.
Tumblr media
So yes, it's amusing that this bat-boy ended up flash frozen and shipped with some meat to Japan. However, the circumstances that led up to that outcome are given the weight they deserve. You truly do feel for Al in these moments because haven't we all been, at one time or another in our lives, perilously close to losing everything? These fleeting glimpses at the past sting in otherwise rollicking segments of the story as they should. Everything beautiful in Al's present is something that he didn't have during his lowest points and you truly feel for him as he works to prolong these moments.
Tumblr media
Another serious moment that lifts the series even higher in my eyes is when it becomes aparent that Akira has access to human remains. Rather than handwaving away the access to blood as a convenient way to get Al the nutrition he needs, a significant amount of time is dedicated to the ethics surrounding the situation. The gravity with which all lives should be handled post-mortem and just a generally respectful examination of embalming as a process.
Tumblr media
Unsurprisingly, I find the portrayal of Al's "incomplete" vampirism as a form of disability to be a compelling take on the mythos too. Al gets almost none of the "benefits" of being a vampire due to the whole process "not being done properly." What this leaves him with are a lot of things that make his everyday life different from not just humans, but "complete" vampires as well.
Tumblr media
These differences mean he struggles to feed himself properly, feels significant levels of pain, and his body is often weak or doesn't behave the way he wants it to. The cause here is obviously fiction, but the way Al's acquired disability impacts his capacity to function to an acceptable level in a society of "normal" folks (both human and vampire) really struck me as ringing true, at least for myself and my own disabilities.
Tumblr media
Yeah, I'm not going to turn into an adorable bat (and truly, bat Al is A D O R A B L E) but the struggle to make use of the few good hours in a day when my body works to a degree, that's so goddamn real. Al wants to contribute to the household, to pay back Akira and to be a functioning member of society... but it's not as straightforward for him as it is for others and that's something I appreciate being explored here.
Tumblr media
Another thing that stands out to me is Akira's sexuality. While there are a lot of misunderstandings with Al and Akira that lead to people assuming they're lovers, when Akira is pushed into a corner about having a lover he shuts this down by describing himself as being frigid or having a low libido (in very blunt language).
Tumblr media
I feel like the depth of this is conveyed well in the English translation by the subsequent line:
Tumblr media
While at this point in the series Akira hasn't labeled his sexuality as being either demisexual or asexual, this is definitely something that it feels like the narrative is leaning towards. Particularly when Al clarifies the difference, in his limited language skills, between the physical and the romantic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Akira is still figuring out what is comfortable for him in terms of dealing with people, so it makes sense that his progress regarding intimacy has only accelerated after meeting Al. The batty vampire is pushing him towards understanding more about himself and how he chooses to interact with those around him, but the ball is still very much in Akira's court regarding whether he'd like to explore either the physical or emotional aspects of their relationship further. I found that really refreshing?
That this story allows the dark-haired, brooding hero who is one part of our lead will-they-or-won't-they, to assert that he doesn't feel the same level of physical attraction that others do. That he isn't entirely confident in this either, that it's a part of himself he's never opened up about before, that it's something Al uncovers and isn't suddenly changed to fit what is acceptable. But that it doesn't lessen Al's interest in him, it's just part of who Akira is... gah! It really resonated with me idk. I love some smut, but I also appreciate it when a story focused on something as sexual as vampirism chooses to eschew this in favour of raw emotional edging instead.
I've pushed the more serious elements of the text in this ramble, but before I wrap up I should really note that there are some very funny moments too. For example, Al's bluntness here when he speaks Japanese.
Tumblr media
The Vampire and His Pleasant Companions isn't the best work of vampire fiction I've ever read, but it uses its recurring themes of isolation vs. the need for connection to craft an enjoyable narrative. One that I feel lingers in my mind a bit more than others. While Al's unique form of vampirism leads to some absurd escapades, the story is elevated by having its emotional core remain grounded in the intrinsic beauty of everyday human interaction and how even fundamentally different people can connect in small but significant ways.
Blah blah blah, you should check it out, I can't wait for the next volume, etc.

the Rolan brainrot's hit me HARD; i did not expect to lowkey fall for an NPC when i started playing BG3 but here i am - making a Tav for a hypothetical Rolan romance 😔 and it didn't help that i absolutely love your Rolan fics HAHA (i can't stop rereading them 🐊)
anyways, the brainrot today has me thinking of being on the receiving side of being teased 😶‍🌫️ usually, it's Rolan doing work and Tav being the tease, but i believe that he has his moments too >:)
-
it's a time when he's actually finished earlier and all he can think about is snuggling next to his lover. however, he notices that Tav's not done with whatever it is they're writing and he sees the opportunity of some overdue payback.
he places a hand on their shoulder and leans over, lips slightly brushing against their ear and asking them a question that he knows doesn't fully register in their head. when he receives a distracted hum for a reply, he starts placing kisses on their neck.
if Tav notices his ministrations, they don't outwardly show it. but Rolan is nothing if not stubborn - he wants his lover to get a taste of their own medicine. so, his hand starts caressing the length of their swordarm, the nail of his thumb slightly grazing skin. he wraps his tail around their upper thigh and the tip slightly grinds against them. a soft bite on the neck and a hand grasping firmly on Tav's wrist is what it takes for Tav to stop writing. when he hears them sigh out his name, he immediately steps back and makes a leave for the bedroom.
he knows he wins when he hears the chair scrape against the floor.
I totally didn’t either, anon! My pipeline to Rolan obsession went like: spend 1 week in love with Astarion on full game release > spend 1 week besotted with Gale > finally play through Rolan’s full arc, and fall head over heels with him for the past...9 months with absolutely no end in sight.
There’s something dangerously addictive about Rolan’s character in particular 😩 It’s good to know we’re not alone in the madness, eh!
Love this scenario of yours 💓 I really really believe that Rolan does have a mischievous, playful side of him that would totally lead him to act like this with his significant other. I always felt the first real taste of it directed toward the player is that classic don’t be greedy~
I’ve always wondered if that little interaction is a glimpse of how Rolan acts when he’s really comfortable/around people he loves. Like the way he acts at the tiefling party in Act 1, trading little quips with his siblings. So fun to imagine him being playful like that with Tav…and maybe being a downright menace with it like you imagined here 😉 So unfair that Larian gave us these little in-game morsels of him being flirty and saucy and didn’t let us smooch his stupid face

Hilarious that the same people defending any and all questionable choices the Bad Kids make (namely Kristen lbr) by saying "They're just kids! They have all this trauma and it's fucked up to expect teens to be good and nice all the time!" are the same people insisting that Kipperlily is an evil bitch and the Ratgrinders deserve to die.
#it's almost like the rules of empathy and nuance only apply to characters you like 🙃#we know absolutely nothing of significance about the Ratgrinders#and i can't wait for Brennan to remind us of that#you want to complain about Kipperlily using her families money to try to buy the campaign???#The entire shrimp party that kicked off Kristen's campaign was bankrolled by her rich friend#Adaine is a total bitch to anyone who isn't in her immediate friend group#Fig is a literal full time criminal at this point#they have at least 50+ murders under their collective belts at this point#the only verified difference between the Bad Kids and the Ratgrinders at this point is that we know nothing about them#I hope they are the biggest red herring Brennan has ever pulled#because I feel like there are people in this fandom who are so used to self-identifying as victims that they've become full bullies#and they're projecting that shit in some really gross ways#The same way Brennan had to remind Adaine that she wasn't the only one with a shitty life when she was dunking on Zayne?#how about we all take a big step back and try to have a little more perspective#instead of jumping straight to being triggered by a CHILD who had the audacity to not love your faves behavior#let me die#if i die#d20 fhjy#fhjy#dimension 20#kristen applebees#kipperlily copperkettle#the bad kids#the ratgrinders#we have no context on what those kids went through in all the time the Bad Kids have been running around doing other shit#Aguefort is an awful school and their friend is dead#maybe she has a reason not to like the super special “chosen one” that got personally resurrected by the principal and keeps failing upwards#i didn't want to be a Kipperlily defense page#but the energy of the Kipperlily hate reeks of double-standards and unprocessed high school bitterness

Atla live action 😐
#thats my honest reaction 😐#to be fair ive only seen 20 minutes of the s1 finale bc my parents are watching it but. mmmmm kinda mid#like. the casting is definitely an improvement since the last time they tried a live action but it feels like the writing falls flat#or maybe im being harsh bc ive only heard negative criticism on it beforehand. but fr anytime u bring up the original its already#good and not just because its the original. so much fucking detail went into it to the point of someone noticing azula wielding mai's knive#to how well thought out irohs character is used as a way of uniting the cast especially as zukos foil#i heard that sokkas sexism was toned down and i have to agree that feels like a cheap move. like i get WHY they think it would be better#but its not about how that reflects on real world its about how it affects the story. sokka starts out as a misogynistic asshole because#it makes it that much more impactful when he changes. toning that down makes it flatter and makes his character development weak#and someone pointed out they didnt even make him wear the kyoshi warrior uniform and i know it feels like such a small detail but#come on man. they did that in the original because not only does it help him really walk in their shoes - wearing 'feminine' clothing and#makeup and having suki explain its significance but it also ties in with the shows theme of harmony and intersectionality#i was also disappointed when they had the fire sages explain how the water tribe draws power from the moon because in the original it was#IROH who explained it to aang and everyone else BECAUSE we as the audience is under the impression hes with the 'bad guys'#and it builds up to how he learned from the other nations which reconciles his past as a war general and his character overall#AND its an excellent starting point for the cast and audience to understand how the nations arent as closed off as you would think#plus you would think its only fire nation doing propaganda but they expanded on that with earth kingdom censorship and it WORKS#a lot of things in the live action also feel arbitrary like. they gave momo a near death experience for 5 minutes for no reason#im firmly on the stance of bringing back filler moments instead of putting major events right after each other so that u give your#audience a sense of time passing and to really absorb the story. but i think thats more like shock value than filler and yeah its a small#thing to gripe about but those things build up and its really annoying. the thing abt avatar filler moments is that however small#its at least meaningful. hell even the beach episode emphasizes how isolated zuko and his friends are as child soldiers#i also swore to never watch the first live action since it was that bad but i really liked the stylized tattoos they used for aang#anyway. those arejust my thoughts. im not gonna watch the rest because im a ride or die for the original aftr growing up and#rewatching it at least 20 times as a kid. but theres definitely room for improvement and i wish ppl wouldnt take it as 'better' just cuz#netflix is adapting it. i wouldve killed for them to just reanimate the entire avatar series and touch NOTHING ELSE no redub#no changes to the story. just reanimate the thing and leave the rest alone and youd make easy money just the same#ALSO its very jarring not hearing jack desena and dante basco voicing sokka and zuko cause their voices were the most recognizable to me#i get that its because its live action but im allowed to feel a little sad abt that. and uncle irohs accent was really soothing#yapping

I still think the funniest possible thing Remedy could do is canonise that Thomas Zane in AW1/the Diver looks like Darling under the helmet.
Would this make sense in the lore? Probably not. Would it be extremely funny? Absolutely.remedy

I’ve been wanting to draw a hair timeline for Fionnlagh for ages and I finally sketched one out! These are just the years when he’s adventuring (nobles in his culture typically debut at 18 and go hunt monsters and also compete in arena-style tournaments and duels). The clothes aren’t really indicative of what he always wears at each age, although he did only reluctantly start wearing clothes practical for adventuring later in his career. He rejoined the nobility when he was 24 and so he gets to wear his silly little outfits again :)
