The Little Mermaid AU.

This was actually a rough draft of Heart’s Content which was a straightforward re-telling of the Disney film but I decided to scrap it and try for something more original. Still I wondered what you all would think of it, so I re-read and re-edited it to fit with the new cannon and well..Here it is.

In a kingdom located in Denmark, Prince Alastor prefers to spend his days sailing and exploring rather than at court, despite his advisor Husk insisting that he should focus more on honoring the wishes of his deceased parents by settling down with a nice young lady and starting a family. One day while sailing over seas he hears a beautiful voice singing from fathoms below and commands it to be followed. No one else can hear the voice though but one sailor suggests that what the prince heard may have been a mermaid, specifically Lucifer's daughter for it is said that no one on land or in the sea has a voice as lovely as hers. The sailors then proceed to tell Alastor about King Lucifer who rules over the ocean and the mer-people, and how there was a time long ago when mer-people could be seen rising to the surface but then suddenly, they stopped coming. That the sea king had forbidden them from ever rising to the shore again after he lost his queen. Alastor is intrigued by these stories but Husk just brushes them off as nautical nonsense.

Meanwhile, deep on the ocean floor in the merfolk kingdom, King Lucifer and his brothers and sister in-laws Baron Belphegor, Lady Seras, and Lord Stolas are celebrating the anniversary of their nation's founding by having each of their daughters sing in a concert for their people. The concert is conducted by Lucifer's advisor and court composer, the sea-imp Moxxie and Belphegor's daughter Bee, Seras's daughter Emily, and Stolas's daughter Octavia perform magnificently but Lucifer's daughter is not present for her solo bringing the concert to a halt and enraging Lucifer.

As it turns out, Lucifer's daughter Charlie had forgotten about the concert because she is a mermaid who dreams of life on the land and spends most of her time swimming around the surface, collecting human items that occasionally fall from ships, and trying to learn about the humans. Unfortunately her people do not care for the surface or humans, and often look down on her and mock her for her interests. Calling her “odd”. The only ones who support her are her friends Vaggie who doesn't quite understand her fascination but wants her to be happy, and Blitzo a land-imp who gives her information about the human objects she finds. Or rather information that he's concocted in his own head. As he's telling her that a fork she found is used for combing one's hair and that a pipe she found is used for music, she suddenly remembers the concert and hurries home.

Elsewhere, Adam the sea-wizard and his loyal follower Lute are plotting revenge against Lucifer for banishing them and transforming Adam from a handsome merman to a hideous cecaelia. When Adam notices how head-strong and rebellious Charlie is, like her late mother, he suspects that she may be the key to Lucifer's undoing and tells Lute to keep an eye on her.

When Charlie returns home her father reprimands her for missing the concert and going to the surface, reminding Charlie that humans killed her mother Lilith years ago. Charlie then protests that the humans who killed her were pirates and that she believes that not all humans were like them. However Lucifer is xenophobic toward humans, viewing them as nothing more than savages. He forbids Charlie from ever going to the surface again and she leaves distraught. Lucifer then assigns Moxxie to watch over Charlie and keep her out of trouble, much to the sea-imp's dismay.

Moxxie follows Charlie and Vaggie to a secret grotto where she keeps her collection of human objects. Vaggie comforts Charlie and asks why she's so interested in the surface world anyway. The sea princess then responds that she gets it from her mother and that Queen Lilith always believed that the humans and the merfolk could live together in harmony if they tried to understand each other, so she would visit the surface as often as she could and then tell her daughter about her adventures. Charlie also reveals that her father once supported her mother's dream and even had a special music box made for her to show his support but that was lost along with her mother's life. Charlie then confesses that she secretly wishes to live in the surface world and have her own adventures, and wonders if maybe the humans would be more accepting of her "odd" nature than the merfolk are.

Moxxie is horrified by this discovery and makes his presence known. Charlie quickly pleads with Moxxie not to tell Lucifer about her collection or her secret wish. Moxxie promises not to but tries to convince Charlie to forget her strange hobbies and focus more on music and her singing. The conversation is interrupted when Charlie sees a ship floating overhead and curiously, swims up to investigate. She swims closer to the ship and spies on the sailors aboard who are celebrating Alastor's birthday. She watches the young man play the flute and dance with his cat Kee Kee and the crew, further intriguing her. During the party, the prime minister Zestial tells the prince that he must find a bride and take up his father's crown, then tells him that he is planning to arrange a marriage for him and the duchess Verosicka. Alastor and Husk both protest, insisting that both his father and mother would have wanted him to marry for love. Zestial counter-argues that despite that, the prince doesn't have anyone to love. Alastor tells them that the woman he falls in love with will be someone who's different. Someone who's "odd". Hearing this, Charlie is instantly smitten.

A storm suddenly hits and when the crew cannot steer the ship to safety, Alastor risks his life to get everyone on board including Kee Kee over to the lifeboats, choosing to be the last one to get off. Just as it's his turn, lighting strikes and the ship breaks apart. Alastor is tossed overboard and knocked unconscious. Charlie saves him from drowning and drags him to the shore. The storm ends by morning and Charlie checks to see if Alastor is still alive. When she sees that he is, she sings to him. Alastor begins to stir and the two fall in love.

Alastor dazedly begs Charlie to stay but she is forced to leave when she hears Husk coming. However Charlie vows to find a way to be with him and Alastor vows to find the woman who saved him. All of which is witnessed by Lute and as Adam spies on them through her eyes, he boasts on how he can use these star-crossed lovers to his advantage and that the reason for his transformation and banishment was that years ago, he and Lilith had been arranged to marry but she fell in love with Lucifer, choosing to marry him instead. Out of jealousy and revenge, he arranged for Lucifer to be killed by pirates but Lilith pushed her husband out of the way, taking the killing blow for him. He then remarks that Lucifer’s lovely little princess would make a charming bride.

After Charlie returns home, her behavior makes her father and her cousins Bee, Emily, and Octavia suspect that she has fallen in love. Moxxie tries to convince her that the sea is where she belongs and points out all the wonders of it, but she only dismisses his words and swims off. On land, Alastor is pressured into a dinner with the duchess Verosicka but he quickly realizes that she’s a vain woman only wants to marry him to become queen and rejects her advances. This upsets Zestial who believes in marriage for convenience but Husk proposes a compromise, that they give Alastor some time to fall in love and find a woman to marry before betrothing him to the duchess. Alastor reluctantly accepts but reveals that he’s in love with the one who saved him and wants to marry her but the only clue he has to find her is her beautiful voice and eyes.

At first Lucifer is pleased with the idea that Charlie has found love and asks Moxxie who the lucky “merman” is? Unfortunately Moxxie accidentally reveals that Charlie saved a human and that he is the one she is in love with. Lucifer is furious and forces Moxxie to take him to Charlie's grotto. There Vaggie has surprised Charlie with a small, marble statue of the prince that she found on the ocean floor and the princess gleefully starts to talk about how she'll sneak away to the surface to visit the prince. But Lucifer appears at the grotto and is enraged by her plans. Charlie tries to explain but Lucifer refuses to listen and destroys her collection of artifacts in a misguided attempt to protect her. Charlie swims away to cry and Lucifer is left feeling guilty for his actions but convinced that it was for her own good.

Once alone, Lute approaches Charlie and tells her that Adam has great power which he uses to help others achieve their greatest desires, and that she was once a land creature who dreamed of life in the sea and Adam made that dream real. Charlie knows nothing of Adam or of his past with her parents, and she's so devastated by her father's actions and feels so alone in her own world, that she agrees to go see him. Moxxie and Vaggie spot Charlie with Lute and follow them to Adam's lair. When Moxxie realizes who Charlie is about to meet, he rushes to warn her but Lute silences him and Vaggie.

Adam tells Charlie that the only way to be with Alastor is to become human and he offers to turn her into one for a month and if she can win Alastor's love and receive a true love's kiss from him before the sun sets on the final day, she will remain human forever. But if he doesn't then she'll turn back into a mermaid and be Adam's prisoner. He also demands that Charlie give him her voice as payment for the potion. At first Charlie is hesitate to accept, unsure if she can leave her father, family, and friends forever or give up her voice as it is her last connection to her mother. But Adam manipulates her by saying that she never really belonged in the sea to begin with and no one down below will ever truly accept her. And he convinces her that giving up her voice will be no great loss because she'll be the most beautiful human woman anyone has ever seen and that she will dance more gracefully than any other. In the end Charlie accepts the deal, Adam then takes her voice and locks it away in a nautilus shell, and gives her a potion that turns her tail into legs. Vaggie and Moxxie quickly get her to the surface before she can drown.

They meet Blitzo by the shore and Charlie is thrilled at finally becoming a human while Moxxie is mortified and almost goes to tell Lucifer what happened. But Vaggie and a now silent Charlie persuade him to instead help them as this is the only chance Charlie has at being truly happy. Blitzo finds some discarded rags and cloth to cover Charlie’s body with, just as she’s found on the beach by Alastor. He doesn’t think she’s the one who saved him due to her no longer having a voice but something about her beautiful eyes draw him to her so he decides to take her to the palace, inviting her to stay as his guest.

Inside, Rosie the headmistress of staff and Niffty the maid, take care of Charlie and see that she is treated like royalty. Giving her a suite and baths, dressing her in gowns of silk and muslin, weaving pearls into her hair, all the while Charlie is fascinated by the new world around her. In the evening, a banquet and ball is held in hopes that Alastor will choose a bride but none of the young ladies attending interest him.

When Charlie enters the room, Alastor is astonished by her beauty and invites her to sit with him and Husk at the banquet table. Charlie attempts to impress him by brushing her hair with a fork and blowing Husk’s pipe like it’s an instrument. All the guests laugh at her but Alastor finds her “odd” behavior charming and smiles at her.

Moxxie and Blitzo sneak into the palace to keep an eye on Charlie but the royal Chef Pentious mistakes them for being crabs and tries to cook them for dinner. They retaliate, leading to a brawl that disrupts the meal but luckily Blitzo escapes out the window while Charlie hides Moxxie in her room. After dinner Alastor teaches Charlie to dance and despite her clumsiness, she still moves with grace and charms him even further with her eloquent eyes. As Husk, Rosie, and Niffty watch them dance, they are pleased to see the prince so happy and suspect that love is in the air.

The next day, Alastor takes Charlie on a tour of the kingdom, going to shops and stands, introducing her to his neighbors and good friends, and he is further impressed with how she responds to everything with such an innocent and playful fascination. They end the day with a picnic on the beach which Charlie enjoys but as she watches the tide, she starts to become homesick and dips her feet in the water. Alastor notices that she's sad and understands that she misses her family. He comforts her and opens up to her about how he lost his parents and misses them. To cheer her up, he gives her a present, one of the many artifacts that his father brought back from his days as an explorer and to Charlie's wonder and joy, the gift is her mother's music box. She embraces him and they almost kiss but Alastor backs out, still longing for the "one" who saved him.

As Adam continues to spy on Charlie, he starts to become anxious. He tells Lute that he gave Charlie a month to win Alastor's heart because he knows that the prince is expected to marry another woman by the month's end and is sure that humans never break an arranged marriage. Still, he sends Lute upward to make absolutely certain that the kiss doesn't happen.

As the weeks pass, Alastor and Charlie grow closer. They go horseback riding, they climb mountain tops, he takes her sailing, and she listens to him whenever he talks about how he doesn't want to be king and that he's not sure he will be as good at running a kingdom as his parents were. Not one day goes by where they are not together yet Alastor still does not even make an attempt to kiss her. But while she spends her days with Alastor, Charlie spends her nights dipping her feet in the ocean and visiting with Vaggie who misses her terribly but is glad that she's happy. One night as Charlie comes back from the beach, she over hears Zestial and Husk arguing about Alastor's betrothal to Verosicka and she fears that he may love another. Rosie and Niffty figure this out and comfort Charlie, assuring her that Alastor does not like Verosicka at all and that they truly believe that if he ever married anyone, it'll be her. Meanwhile, Lucifer and his family have been searching the entire ocean for Charlie and Moxxie the remorseful sea king breaks down to his brother in-law Stolas about how he knows Charlie and Moxxie's disappearances are his fault and that he failed them and Lilith. Stolas however assures him that Charlie and Moxxie will be found and that his sister knows how much he loves and tries. Still Lucifer cannot help but constantly say "What have I done? What have I done?"

On the day before the last day of the month, Alastor takes Charlie on a romantic boat ride in a lagoon. A secret spot where his father used to take his mother and he tells her how his father met his mother while exploring the middle east and how different she was from all the other woman he had met before. That she was "odd" just like how his father was "odd" and they fell so much in love that no matter what they faced, no matter what stood in their way, they would always find each other. He then confesses that he wants a love like that and that is why he cannot consent to an arranged marriage. He also confesses that he considers himself "odd" and that he thinks Charlie is wonderful because she's "odd" too. Moxxie takes advantage of the moment by working with Bltizo to create a romantic atmosphere and again they almost kiss, but Lute ruins the moment by tipping the boat over.

Furious at Charlie's close success, Adam decides to take matters into his own tentacles but going up to the surface and appears to a jealous Verosicka, who is sulking over the fact that the prince would prefer a “little mute" over herself. Adam offers Versoicka a solution and gives her specific instructions to follow. That night, Husk suggests to Alastor that "Far better than any dream girl is one of flesh and blood, one warm and caring, and right before your eyes." Alastor takes this advice to heart and realizes that he's fallen in love with Charlie. He decides to forget his dream girl and marry Charlie instead but before he can tell her how he feels, he is approached by Versoicka who is now wearing the nautilus shell containing Charlie's voice around her neck. She uses the voice to bewitch Alastor to forget all about Charlie and marry the "one with the voice."

The next morning Charlie learns that Alastor has decided to marry Verosicka today, much to the joy of Zestial and the confusion of Husk, Rosie, and Niffty. Charlie tries to get Alastor's attention but Versoicka does everything in her power to keep him from seeing her, and when the staff questions him about Charlie, he claims not know such a woman. Heartbroken, Charlie runs off in tears, sobbing by the shore as the wedding ship departs. But Blitzo suspects that something is up and decides to do a little snooping. He spies on Verosicka and sees her conversing with Adam through a mirror, in which they reveal that they've been using Charlie's voice to keep Alastor in a trance and that Verosicka must not let Alastor see his true love or the spell may weaken. Blitzo quickly warns his friends and they devise a plan, Vaggie will take Charlie to the wedding ship, Moxxie will get Lucifer, and Blitzo will stall the wedding.

Blitzo enlists sea animals and Kee Kee to help him and together they disrupt the wedding and attack Verosicka. Vaggie and Charlie get closer to the ship but Lute turns herself into a shark and attacks them. Vaggie fights her, giving Charlie a chance to climb aboard. Alastor finally sees her, bedraggled and on the verge of collapsing, he starts to remember her and rushes to embrace her. Veroscika attempts to strengthen the spell over him but Blitzo rips the nautilus shell from her neck and breaks it at Charlie's feet. Charlie's voice is restored to her and Alastor realizes that she's the one. Tragically, just before their lips can touch, the sunsets and Charlie turns back into a mermaid. It's too late and Adam takes Charlie away, but Alastor is determined not to lose her again.

Lucifer confronts Adam and agrees to take his daughter's place and give him his trident, in exchange for her freedom. Adam agrees, he claims the trident for himself and turns Lucifer into a sea worm to Moxxie's and Charlie's horror. Charlie attempts to take the trident back to save her father but Adam restrains her. Alastor, having found them, shoots a harpoon at Adam to defend her and Lute responds by trying to drown him. Vaggie and Moxxie defend him and Adam attempts to kill all three of them with the trident but Charlie intervenes, causing the blast to hit and kill Lute instead.

Alastor and Charlie reunite at the surface and she urges him to get away for his safety but he refuses to leave her. The couple is suddenly pursued by an enraged Adam who controls the waters to bring them to him. He takes Charlie hostage and starts trying to drown Alastor, all the while taunting him about how once he's dead, he'll takeover not only Charlie's kingdom but Alastor's as well, enslaving both of their people, and pushing the final button by declaring that he'll make Charlie his replacement bride for Lilith. Furious, Alastor reaches for the harpoon he threw earlier and stabs Adam in the chest. In pain, he drops both them and the trident, and the couple use the trident to destroy Adam.

Afterward, Alastor and Charlie swim to the shore where he proclaims his love for her and they share true love's kiss. But then Charlie tells him that although she loves him too, they belong in different worlds and that they can never be together. Alastor pleads with her not to leave him, that they can surely find a way but she tearfully insists that there is no such way. She returns to the sea and is overjoyed to see her father restored to his true form, they embrace, and both apologize for the mistakes they've made. Charlie agrees to go home but asks to have one last look at Alastor first and Lucifer consents. Seeing the way Charlie looks at Alastor and the way he looked at her, reminds Lucifer of how he used to look at Lilith and recalls that Alastor had risked his life to save his daughter just as Lilith had given her life for her husband. Realizing that he was wrong and that he wants Charlie to be happy, Lucifer decides to change Charlie into a human for good, she runs into Alastor's arms, they kiss, and at some point marry, finally uniting humans and merfolk just as Lilith always wanted.

Week 7, part one

An Infinte Ocean

I got an 6th Barbie AU Idea, or was it 7th. How about the Barbie and the secret door AU with Riddle as the star of it :D

I'm on the car, so I'm too lazy to check (internet gave up on me mid-way and I had to restart)

Man... This is hand in hand with the double Isekai and the MLB bandwagons. :'3

Well... For the premise, we can say that Riddle is the son of the king and queen, but he saw his parents arguing so much, that he tends to go and hide in the garden. Usually his father finds him and they have sum bonding time together.

It's one of those days when Riddle wished so much that he could have magic so he could magically make his parents not argue anymore. As such, lost in thought, he wonders off further than his usual places where he would go in the garden. He realises he never saw these more wild and untamed parts of the garden, but inevitably stumbles upon a stone wall.

That's when a door seems to materialise in the stone. Riddle is taken aback and even scared about it, but his parents were arguing worse than any other time and the redhead was sick of this cycle, so his desire to escape this situation, he opens the door and closes it behind him. He wanted to be alone for a while.

Well that wish doesn't get fulfilled, as he finds himself in some new clothes, in a magical land. He is so in awe that he is easily captured by Floyd and Idia. The 2 are surprised by such a small guy, but Riddle had a 'wand' on his belt so he had to be sum sort of royalty, as such, they let him free and beg of him to help them.

Idia used to be a fire spirit, while Floyd used to be a merman. Their magic was taken away by the current princess who instaured a regim of terror by stealing everyone's magic.

So taken aback, Riddle tries to explain that he is not some great wizard, but he is encouraged to use the wand and realises that with it, he could do magic. It was like a fever dream, but Riddle was absolutely wonderstruck by the fact that HE could do REAL MAGIC. It was like the universe answered his wish in the form of this pretty lil wand.

So with this new hope, Floyd and Idia lead Riddle to their secret camp, where a few magical creatures, that escaped from being stripped off their magic, were also hopeful that Riddle could help them.

Among them there is also Jade, Floyd's twin, but he discloses that Idia's brother, Ortho, wasn't as lucky as Idia and got taken and now who knows if he is locked in the dungeons or worse, much like the others captured. They needed a plan to save them and also restore the magic and Riddle was their key.

Riddle bearly knows how to use that goddamn wand. :'D

But from the others, we find out about the unicorn queen, the most powerful unicorn of all and the only one missing from the princess's collection.

Cue Floyd, Idia and Riddle venturing together to find that unicorn. They had to face off a few of the princess's minions, but overall it was more of Riddle figuring out how this whole spell casting works.

They find the unicorn queen, who is named Vorpal, and she seems to like Riddle. Not so much on Idia and Floyd, but I guess they aren't also the best examples. :'3

But they get captured! :'D

At the palace, Riddle is brought face to face with the princess, who apparently was a spoiled rotten 10 years old with a staff that can absorb magic. Riddle's wand was confiscated, but when the minions tried to cast a spell, nothing happened. As such, they threw it on the floor bc it was 'a useless pretty stick'.

The princess firstly takes the unicorn queen's magic, before inquiring on why this useless redhead was even brought forth to her. Riddle himself tells her that he is prince Rosehearts, the sole heir to the throne and that as an upcoming ruler, it's his duty to make justice for those who can't, just how the poor people of the magic lands were terrorised by the princess.

Thankfully, you have Floyd, who despite being held in a cage, managed to reach out and grab the wand, throwing it to Riddle. Once caught, Riddle uses it in order to shoot at the scepter, yet it was useless, the spell bouncing off and hitting the cake from there, making it to burst into confetti.

As such, we have a magic duel. Riddle noticed that the scepter was starting to crack under all that magic stored inside, so an idea comes into his mind, offering himself as a sacrifice, if the hostages are at least let free. The princess agrees and as such Riddle has to leave himself be magicless yet again.

But not for long, because apparently, his magic was too much, making the scepter to burst from the a mount of magic inside and as such, the whole magic is lt to run wild and return to where it came from.

And Riddle gets again, a new look, along with a different wand, this time more pretty looking. Of course, first course of action was to fully restore the remaining magic, while everyone was cheering.

But in the end, with all of this amazing adventure and magic, when Riddle is asked to stay, he is reminded why he found this place in the first place. He is overcame by guilt, most likely his father searching everywhere for him. His father always made sure to find Riddle and at least ensure that his son was safe and knew that he was loved. His papa was the reason why Riddle turned so much to hide in the garden, because they used to play hide & seek when Riddle was little, in the very same garden.

He wonders if by chance the magic will follow him outside, but if it doesn't, Floyd give to him a very sparkly shell, telling him that it would at least help him remember that he had magic inside him and he used it to save a whole land.

Surprisingly, when Riddle returns to the door, his clothes change back to how they used to be, but his wand was still kept in it's special holster attached to his leg and belt. The door seems to disappear once he closed it and as such, first Riddle wonders around, before hearing his father and finally tackling him in a hug. The man seems reassured, since he searched for Riddle for hours. The boy tells him that he maybe just fell asleep in his new secret hiding spot. As such, the 2 wonder through the garden together, Riddle not uttering a word about his adventure.

His father does notice the wand and also the shell the redhead has and he asks about them. Riddle tho, responds that those are just some thing he found and that they are a small reminder of how he needs to strive to be a great prince and a good future ruler. His father does not really question him, as the 2 go back inside for a tea and some cookies.

Magiana

Summary: Long time friends, Anneliese and Erika find themselves thrown into the world of magic by accident. Everything they’ve ever known is quickly turned on its head as the girls navigate their new life in Magiana. When the ancient relic Crystalias goes missing, it's up to them to capture the culprit and bring back Crystalias before the new moon arrives.

Magiana — mah (as in magic) jee - ahna. A realm filled to the brim with magical creatures and beings, mostly cut off from the non-magical realm.

Magiana's shores were soaked in a beautiful blue, its people moving about the docks in tandem. Everything in Magiana worked in tandem. Perhaps it was the offset of magic that ran through its land that led to its almost musical rhythm or perhaps that was the way of its people. Lively chatter shot through the docks and bubbled up from beneath the water.

Mermaids. They giggled and swam freely, careful not to get in the way of ships and their cargo. The merpeople were not seabound to their homes. In fact, nobody batted an eye as they twirled and twisted through the air, graceful as a ballet dancer.

Fairies flew among the clouds, dipping close to the sea to meet their aquatic friends. Children standing on the edge of the docks waved and cheered at the show, while others showed off their magic for a spare coin.

There were many fantastical beings in Magiana—mermaids, fairies, wizards, enchantresses, shapeshifters.

"Wolfie, come back!"

"Serafina! Serafina!"

Anneliese and Erika had not quite realized they were far, far away from home, their focus solely on their cats scampering about. They did not notice this until Wolfie and Serafina sat barking (and mewling) at a foreign food stand. It was there that they caught sight of the mermaids twirling in air alongside the gliding fairies.

Anneliese stared.

Erika blinked three times.

"Where are we?" Anneliese asked, drinking in every detail.

"This is weird. Like weird-weird. I mean, mermaids? Fairies? We have to be dreaming, Anneliese."

Her friend tucked in a tuft of blond hair behind her ear. "Is it possible to have the exact same dream as another person at the same time?"

Erika shrugged her arms, her eyes landing on a merman with hazel eyes and messy brown hair. He didn't look away, instead he smiled and did a flip. She raised an eyebrow.

“There’s no way this is real.” Erika shook her head, scooping up Wolfie in the process.

Anneliese did the same, calmed by Serafina’s incessant purring. “I thought magic was an old wives’ tale.”

“Well, as you can see, it isn’t, my dear,” a soft, husky voice said from behind the two girls. An owl, larger than both Anneliese and Erika, stood tall, her emerald green eyes gleaming with wisdom. “Welcome to Magiana. May your visit be pleasant.” Without so much as another word, the owl took flight.

“I thought owls only flew around at night.” Anneliese watched the owl go, transfixed by her soft, brown feathering.

“We see mermaids and fairies and your first question is about the talking owl?” Erika joked.

“She said this place was called Magiana, right?”

“A bit on the nose, don’t you think?”

Anneliese laughed. “But you have to admit it’s wonderful.” She set Serafina down, making her way toward the docks. Erika followed suit.

Erika glanced at the water, wondering where the merman with the hazel eyes had gone before she shrugged. She pulled her blue cloak closely around her as she was not yet used to the sea air on such a nice, but chilly day. The kingdom’s warmth stuck with her even now.

“Shouldn’t we get back, Anneliese?”

“It wouldn’t hurt to explore a bit.”

“You are a sheltered princess.”

Anneliese’s pink lips turned up in a smile. “And it’s not like we’ll get a second chance.”

“True. Lead the way, your highness.” Erika curtisied. “But I think,” she started, twirling around in her dress, “we should trade these in for something a little more practical. Or we could buy a map.”

“I’m not quite sure if our money works here, but it's worth a try.”

The two set off toward the vendors, Wolfie and Serafina in tow. Unbeknownst to them, they were being watched.

Donning new outfits and walkable shoes, Anneliese and Erika went about Magiana in search of a map.

A man with gray hair, tan skin, and circular glasses waved them over to his vendor. “Hello, ladies! What brings you over here this fine afternoon?” He smiled. “My name is Ferris.”

“We need a map,” Erika said, shifting uncomfortably.

“Of course! Of course! I have multiple. Just choose one that suits your fancy.” When Anneliese’s hand hovered over the maps sitting on the table, he quickly added, “You’ll each need to give me something in return first.”

“Money? I’m not sure our currency works here, then again, it worked once. Maybe it’ll work here too.” Anneliese patted one of her pockets.

“Foreigners, I see. Coin is coin, nonetheless.”

Anneliese took out her pouch.

“I’ll take all of it.”

“All of it?” Her fingers wrapped around the pouch and moved it away from Ferris. “I don’t think so.”

Erika stepped in front of her friend. “You’re trying to swindle us.”

“Me? Ladies, ladies, I am simply a man of the trade.”

“One map doesn’t cost nearly as much as what’s in that pouch. We’ll take our business elsewhere.” Erika turned on her heels and marched past Ferris’ shop.

Anneliese stared at Ferris a moment longer. His greedy tendencies reminded her of Preminger. She shuddered.

“Anneliese?” Erika called out.

“Coming!”

“Wait, wait, wait! I’ll cut you a deal.” Unfortunately for Ferris, the two were long gone.

“Parthenia, that’s where we are. Cloud Kingdom goes in the opposite direction. Then there’s Fairytopia’s Magic Meadow. Mermaidia is close by. The Enchanted Forest and three small kingdoms. Huh.”

Anneliese peered over her shoulder. “So, is Magiana a continent? Or is it just a realm?”

“Good question, but we shouldn’t go too far. We have to get back home, remember?”

“Of course.”

As twilight set in, Anneliese and Erika strolled around, and despite their better wishes to not stay in Magiana too long, they stocked up on supplies.

Erika stopped dead in her tracks. “How did we get here, anyway?”

They looked at each other, then down at Wolfie and Serafina.

“If we don’t know how we got here, then how will we get back?” As realization set in, Anneliese sat down on the cold, stone floor. “Something’s wrong. Something has to be wrong. I mean, shouldn’t we have panicked more when we got here in the first place? One minute we were in the grasslands now we’re here and what if we don’t go home? Mother must be so worried. And Julian. I can’t imagine …”

“Dominick,” Erika whispered. “Oh no. We’re in trouble, Anneliese, big trouble.”

When they tried to retrace their steps all the way back to the grasslands, the only thing the girls found was a crossroads sign with the names ‘Fairytopia’ and ‘Mermaidia’ written on it. The girls slumped down and perhaps they would have stayed that way if it weren’t for their rumbling stomachs. It would’ve been a pleasant picnic except it was near dusk and really, they should’ve found an inn and they had to be careful of what they fed Wolfie and Serafina. Overall, it was a terrible night for the two girls and their cats as they lay wrapped up in their cloaks, taking turns with nightwatch although travelers would not catch sight of them until dawn.

Soft morning light painted its way among the horizon while Anneliese sat watching over everyone. Erika woke soon after, sure that she would awaken in her bed, with the option to sleep in. Alas, it was not true.

A tinkling sound followed by beautiful glittering powder swept around Anneliese and Erika. Fairies. Or faeries, sometimes referred to as the fae, they would sound learn came to greet them. They moved about in fluttering steps as the two girls and their cats watched, mesmerized. Serafina was too dignified to try and catch the fae, but Wolfie was not.

A stern look from Erika was enough to stop his mischief. “Wolfie, no,” she scolded him.

After the fae left, the girls ate breakfast in silence before setting off toward the docks once more. On their journey they talked of their plans to get back home. It was a heavy morning, despite the beauty of Magiana.

The world looked about as fairy tale-ish as Anneliese could imagine and today was far warmer than yesterday.

“Anneliese?”

“Hm?”

“Do you think any of this is real?”

“It might be. If we haven’t woken up yet from a dream, then it might as well be.”

“What if,” Erika sputtered. “Do you think … do you think …”

Anneliese shook her head. “I don’t know, Erika. Maybe.”

It was not a long walk back to the docks, much to Anneliese and Erika’s pleasure. The docks lulled in and out of sleep. Early mornings were quiet, but once 8 o’clock arrived, the townspeople suddenly came alive, scrambling about and laughing.

“I heard the shores would freeze over soon. Those poor merpeople.”

“I heard the fairies and the fae were preparing for The Big Frost.”

“It’s best to go to one of the three kingdoms during this time of year. Even the Enchanted Forest is better than here.”

“There’s quite a lot of knowledge hidden there, I hear.”

“Anneliese,” Erika whispered, grabbing her friend’s arm, “the Enchanted Forest, that’s it!”

“Of course.” Anneliese patted around for the map before finding it. “Aha! Here it is. How far away in the Enchanted Forest from here?”

“It’s located in one of the three kingdoms, see?” Erika pointed her finger toward the southernmost part of the map.

“Then that’s where we’ll go.”

Just as Anneliese spoke those words, a blast of arctic air poured forth.

“Let’s hurry before the weather gets worse.”

“Uh, Erika?”

“Yeah?” Erika’s turned to her friend.

“We need a ship to cross over.” Anneliese’s eyebrows scrunched up in worry. “And you heard them. Winter is coming.”

“We could always stow away,” Erika said, an impish smile on her face.

“Erika!”

“I’m joking, I’m joking. We’ll find a way, Anneliese, I promise.”

Anneliese’s shoulders sank as she looked around. The citizens of Magiana seemed happy enough and living here in Magiana wouldn’t be such a terrible time, and she hated herself for thinking such a thing. Her friends and family must be worried sick.

“We’ll make it across just fine. You wanted adventure in your life, right, Anneliese?”

A wary smile found its way onto her face. “Yes.”

“Then let’s go and ask one of the sailors if we can hitch a ride over to the three kingdoms.”

There weren’t many sailors willing to cross the sea before The Big Frost, and Anneliese and Erika were at their wits end, scurrying around, asking left and right if they could ‘please board your ship. We promise to pay you good money for the voyage.’

It worked.

Eventually.

“I am Captain Candy and I can assure you have a safe voyage across our seas,” the man stated, his brown skin glistening and the feather on his turban moving about in the wind.

“Thank you, thank you, thank you!” Erika nearly wrapped arms around the man before remembering herself and gathering her composure. “Ahem. I’m Erika and this is my friend Anneliese. We’re not from around here.”

“Friends? I thought you were sisters.”

“We get that a lot,” Anneliese said.

“You two remind me of one my good friends, her name is—”

At the sound of a blowing horn, all three of them (plus Wolfie and Serafina) turned their attention toward one of the more majestic ships.

“Captain Candy, we are nine minutes late! Nine!” A dour old man stood firm and walked briskly toward said man.

“Major Mint, I’m certain we’ll arrive—”

“On time! Pah! That’s what you always say.”

Captain Candy sighed and signaled for the girls and their pets to board his ship.

“This is my ship, is it not?” Captain Candy countered. “You are nothing but a nuisance.”

“The insolence of this generation! Why, I would never have talked to my elders in such a way.” With that, Major Mint marched away rather stiffly. It was not a march like how one would walk, but an actual march that made Anneliese and Erika giggle.

“Don’t mind him. He’s just a grouch.”

The ship set sail six minutes later, to the dismay of Major Mint. He went about the deck fretting about this and that, not paying much mind to the passengers aboard the ship.

Anneliese went below the dock because as much as she would love to sit and watch the sea’s calm waters, but body was still tired from the night watch. Serafina followed her closely, her tail swishing back and forth before leaping onto the bed with Anneliese’s things.

“It’s far from glamorous, Serafina, but it does beat the mines, doesn’t it?”

It didn’t take long for Anneliese to fall into slumber with Serafina curled up next to her.

“How much?”

“Huh?” Captain Candy turned to look at Erika, puzzled.

“For the voyage, I mean.”

“Oh, that. 50 coins.”

“That’s it?”

“What? You want to pay more?”

Erika lifted her hands in protest. “No, no, I’m just surprised. Usually there’s a catch for things such as this.”

Captain Candy put a hand to his chin. “You girls seemed desperate. Kindness goes a long way.”

“I see.”

Erika mulled over Captain Candy’s words as she began eating an early lunch.

“Parthenia, huh?” She took a bite out of her sandwich. Genuine kindness was not common to Erika, especially after working at Madame Carp’s, but those days were behind her now. Far behind her.

A soft hum escaped her lips as Erika looked out toward the windy shores. Mermaids swam underneath the currents, but they weren’t doing any tricks today. Huh. And the fairies were nowhere to be found. She wondered where they were, briefly, as she chewed on a piece of her sandwich. Somehow, despite the ache in her heart, Erika felt the beauty all around her. The glistening shores, the soft pastels of the sky, everything.

Home was beautiful too, but there was something about Magiana she loved dearly. Someone might say it was the magic, but there was something more that Erika could not quite pinpoint.

If they couldn’t go back, what would that mean for her and Anneliese? Would they end up in Magiana forever?

Then there was the mystery of how they got here and why.

There were too many unanswered questions in Erika’s opinion.

The fae from before twirled around the ship.

“Snow Fae,” Captain Candy called out. “Oh, what a day. What a day. This doesn't look too good.”

“Snow Fae?” Erika asked.

“Yes, they’re technically fairies, but we call them the fae because of how tiny they are. Fairies here are human-sized.”

“Interesting.”

Despite the Snow Fae, no storms came about on their voyage to the three kingdoms.

Anneliese woke later and once she caught sight of the fae, she went about drawing and recording her findings into her journal.

“We’ll be in the three kingdoms in four days' time,” Major Mint said. “Late, I tell you. Late, late, late.” He pumped into Anneliese. “Pardon me, Clara.” He squinted his eyes as he took in Anneliese. “You’re not Clara.”

“I don’t know who you’re talking about.”

“The resemblance is quite striking though, isn’t it, Major Mint?”

“Yes, yes,” the old man grumbled. “Very strange indeed. Being on this ship takes me back to when we crossed the Sea of Storms.”

“We weren’t on a ship, then. And don’t you dare wish that kind of luck onto my ship,” Captain Candy admonished.

Major Mint rolled his eyes. “Pah! You ruin such good memories.”

“I wouldn’t call that a good memory.”

Erika and Anneliese shared looks before shrugging their shoulders.

They sat about the deck talking and laughing with their new friends. It didn’t matter to them whether or not the friend in question was a passenger or part of the ship’s crew.

Anneliese’s new favorite thing was to wake early in the morning to watch the sun ascend over the horizon. What kind of magic was in Magiana’s sunrise and sunset, she didn’t know, but a warmth spread all around her when she saw either. She wondered if Erika felt the same.

Theirs was a safe voyage, thankfully.

They arrived at the shores of the three kingdoms in the afternoon.

Anneliese and Erika waved goodbye to their new friends, their pets near their feet while they hoisted their bags over their shoulders.

“We’re here.” Anneliese breathed in the clean air. “Finally. All that we need to do now is find the Enchanted Forest.”

“But where do we start?” Erika asked, staring at the townspeople.

Their stomachs grumbled simultaneously.

“I’m hungry for something sweet, what about you, Erika?”

“I’m up for anything.”

The southernmost kingdom was by far the warmest of the kingdoms, but Anneliese and Erika did not know any of that. It was funny, while there was magic within the kingdoms, it was not nearly as overt as Parthenia or Fairytopia or even Mermaidia. Anneliese and Erika noticed right away.

“We should go looking for the Enchanted Forest later,” Anneliese suggested. “We should familiarize ourselves with everything here, eat, stock up on supplies, get rest.”

“You make a good point.” She twirled around. “You did mention eating something sweet.”

The two girls linked arms with each other.

When they caught sight of the nearest bakery, Anneliese and Erika were practically salivating at the mouth. While the cats whined in protest, the girls promised them they would feed them soon. Pastries and cats didn’t exactly go hand and hand.

The baker was a lanky, but kind old man with his graying black hair pulled into a ponytail. Anneliese liked him immediately.

“Anything you want, girls?”

“A dozen sugar cookies for me,” Erika stated as she brought out her own pouch full of coins.

The man shook his head and laughed. “Of course. And you?” he asked, looking at Anneliese.

“Danish cheese, if you don’t mind.”

While the girls waited for their food, angry shouts filled the air, causing Anneliese to huddle closer to Erika.

“What do you think it is?” she whispered.

“I don’t know.”

The shouts grew louder and louder and soon enough, Anneliese and Erika were peering through the windows of the bakery to see a crowd forming.

Anneliese and Erika did not yet know it, but they were about to embark on an epic quest across Magiana.

Last year I wrote couple of Drabbles for Halloween and this year I decide to devote whole month October to creepy and fantasy themed drabbles with sprinkles of spice and romance.

I’ll give you list of dates with fantasy/dangerous prompts like vampire, ghoul, robot, serial killer and much more. I’ll be updating the list after every ask and will let you know if someone before you requested the same day, but I would love for you to check the list before requesting

2020 HP Cross Gen Fest Masterlist & Reveals

And now the moment we've all been waiting for… reveals!

Thank you so very much to everyone who has made this fest such an amazing success! Everyone who submitted stories and art, and those who read, reviewed and recced: You guys are the best! And an extra big thank you to those of you who made that extra effort to comment on all the wonderful creations. <3 <3 <3

It's been so much fun getting to post everybody's works and seeing so much wonderful support for HP cross gen; I hope you all enjoyed the fest as much as we did!

“Good morning, my angel.” the imposter said as he hugged you.

“Hi, Vanitas.” you said hugging back.

“Well, this is certainly surprising. But I’m glad you found someone to become your king. Welcome to the family, Vanitas.” Sora was heartbroken. His one true love fell for another man.

“(Y/N) got engaged to another man and he’s heartbroken about it.” Roxas explained.

“WHAT?!” Xion and Axel exclaimed. Sora looked down, not wanting anyone to see his tears.

“Hey.” Axel put his hand on Sora’s shoulder. Sora looked up at Axel with tears falling down his face. “We’ll get her back to you.” Sora smiled at Axel.

“Vanitas? Who’s Vanitas?” Sora wrote down who Vanitas was and who he was and where he and Vanitas came from and why Vanitas is here.

“You’re a merman?! Dude, that is awesome!” Axel said.

Just then, the door opened to reveal Vanitas.

“Who are you?” He sneered.

“I’m Lady Xion. These are my friends. Lord Roxas, Lord Axel, and…” Right before Xion said Sora’s name, Sora made a cutting motion with his hand.

“And Lord Ventus.” Xion lied.

“Uh-huh.” Vanitas knew it was Sora, but he played along.

“May we know who you are?”

“Fine. The name’s Vanitas. (Y/N)’s future husband and future king. And if must know, (Y/N) told me to explore the castle so I get used to it when I move in here.” Vanitas then left. Sora let out a breath he been holding for a long time.

Donald flew as fast as he can to find Goofy. He found him on his island napping.

“Goofy! It’s an emergency!” Goofy woke up slowly, not fully understanding what was happening.

“What?” he asked groggily.

“Were you not listening? Sora’s in trouble!”

“Sora’s in trouble?! What should we do?!”

“We need to warn the king and the queen.”

“On it!” Goofy left the island to go warn the king and the queen. He swam as fast as he can to the Destiny Kingdom.

“Your Majesties! It’s an emergency!”

“Great. Just what we needed. Another emergency.” the king said. The queen elbowed him.

“What is it, Goofy?” she asked Goofy.

“It’s about, Sora.”

“Sora! Where is he? Is he okay? Tell me what happened!” the king shouted.

“Sora is with the princess, but he’s in danger. We must head over to the kingdom before it’s too late!” Goofy said.

“Riku!” the queen called.

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

“Round up all of the guards. We’re gonna save my son.” Riku bowed and went to go round up the guards.

“We’re coming, honey. Just be strong for us.” the queen whispered. She went to her jewelry box and pulled out a magic pendant and gave it to Goofy.

“Make sure that Sora gets this.” Goofy nodded and swam back to Donald.

“Okay. I just found out from a maid, that there’s gonna be a ball tonight to celebrate the so-called engagement between (Y/N) and Vanitas. Then tomorrow there’s gonna be the wedding. So we need to break Vanitas’ spell before sun down.” Xion said.

“Okay. Mr. Talking-Bird here said that Sora’s parents are on their way with support and gave Sora a magic pendant.” Axel said.

“I have a name here and it’s Donald!”

“Okay. Sorry. No need to get all feisty with me.” Donald was about to peck the shit out of Axel but Sora stopped him from doing so.

“How are you holding up, Sora?” Roxas asked. Sora wrote down that he was okay but scared of what might happen.

“Don’t worry, Sora. We’ll get her back.” Xion said, putting her hand on his shoulder.

“I should go see if the king and the queen have arrived.” Donald said. He then flew off to go find Sora’s parents.

“While Donald is doing that, we need to prepare for tonight. Also, what does that pendant to?” Xion said. Sora shrugged. He then put in on and felt a rush of magic go through him.

“Are you okay, Sora?” Roxas asked.

“Y-Yeah. I feel good.”

“YOUR VOICE! It came back!” Xion said.

“Yeah. Thank you, mom. I’ll come home soon. Let’s do this.” They left the library, and went to go get ready for the ball tonight.

~Time Skip~

Sora, Xion, Axel, and Roxas entered the ballroom to be greeted by a bunch of people they didn’t know.

“Great. How are we gonna find (Y/N) and Vanitas when there’s all these people in the way?” Axel complained. Sora looked through the sea of people and then found you and Vanitas by the staircase.

“Guys. I found her! Let’s go!” Sora said. They split up so they wouldn’t make it obvious. Xion went to the right, while the boys went to the left.

“Hey, (Y/N)! You look beautiful!” Xion said.

“Thanks, Xion! You look pretty too!” you replied.

“So, I hear you’re getting married tomorrow. Mind if I see the dress?”

“Of course! I’ll be right back, Bubby.” (I’m sorry! That nickname makes me soft! I love it so much!) Vanitas nodded in response. You and Xion went to go look at the dress, while the boys went to go confront Vanitas. Sora snuck with Xion to try and talk to you.

“Ugh. What do you want?” Vanitas said.

“We know what your plan is, Vanitas.” Roxas said.

“Do you now? And what do think my plan is?”

“Your plan is to summon a creepy crusty wizard that will take over this kingdom and many others while having Sora as a prisoner.” Axel said.

“Seems like you caught me. But you’re kind of too late.”

“What the hell do you mean by that?” Roxas asked.

“(Y/N) puts all of her trust into me. And Sora is not gonna be able to anything about it.” Vanitas smirked.

“You son of a-”

“Okay. You wait here while I’ll go get the dress.” you said.

“Okay.” Xion smiled. You went into your closet to pull out the wedding dress. It was passed down through your family.

Xion made sure that you were in the closet before she let Sora in. Your maid helped you put the dress on and made sure it was on securely. You stepped out of the closet to be greeted by Sora.

“Oh, hey. What are you doing here?” you asked surprised to see Sora standing there instead of Xion.

“I came to see you.” he said.

“Your voice came back!”

“Yeah. But that’s not why I’m here.”

“Well, why are you here?”

“Come with me.”You followed Sora down to the docks and stood there as he explained what has been going on these past couple of hours.

“Wait, you have to leave tonight?” Sora nodded in response.

“I-I wish I got to spend more time with you.”

“Me too.” Sora got an idea

“Do you trust me?” he asked.

“Of course I trust you!” Sora pulled you close and started to dance with you. Just as he was about to kiss you, Vanitas pushed him into the water.

“You just make it too easy don’t you, Sora?”

“Wait, Sora?!” Sora got out of the water and saw that Vanitas was holding the necklace that Sora gave you. Vanitas then pulled you close to him and placed a rough kiss on your lips. You tried to push him away but he was too strong.

“NO!” It was too late. The sun had setted and Sora was turned back into a merman. Vanitas finally let you go and you ran to Sora.

“Oh my god, Sora! I’m so sorry. I didn’t realize it was you this entire time.” you said.

“At least I got to dance with you.”

“Ugh. Barf! All this lovey-dovey shit makes me want to kill someone. And I think I know the perfect target.” Vanitas took the last missing piece of the X-Blade and summoned the rest of it. He placed the missing piece into its rightful spot and a surge of dark magic flowed through him. He then pointed the X-Blade right at Sora. You stood in front of Sora with your arms out to protect him.

“Seriously? Just give up, angel. It’s not worth the trouble.”

“No. I lost the two most important people in my life. I’m not losing Sora.”

“So be it.” Vanitas raised the X-Blade in the air and summoned Xehanort. (kind of like what happened during the keyblade war).

“Hah, feels good to be back in my original body.” Xehanort said. You gasped. You felt like this was your fault. You helped summon Xehanort. Sora looked at Xehanort in disbelief. This isn’t happening. He wished that this was a dream. But it wasn’t. This is real.

“XEHANORT!” a voice boomed. Wait that sounded familiar. It was

“DAD!” Sora exclaimed. He saw his parents riding a gigantic wave. He dove into the water to be reunited with his family. Sora’s mother was the first one to hug him.

“Oh thank goodness! You’re okay.”

“Well, if it isn’t Your Majesty, the king. So nice of you to join us. We’re just about to get started with the ceremony” Xehanort said.

“What ceremony?” you asked.

“Why the wedding, of course.” Vanitas said. This couldn’t be happening. Xehanort grabbed your arm and pushed you towards Vanitas.

“Now, are we ready to begin?” Xehanort asked.

“NO! Let me go!” You tried to fight against Vanitas but he was too strong.

“Dad, we have to help her.”

“We will, son. Don’t worry.” Sora’s dad waved his trident and shot it at Xehanort and Vanitas trying to be careful of you. The two of them flew into the water and got turned into mermen. Sora swam to you as fast as he can but got pulled by Vanitas. Sora fought against his grip the best as he could. He broke free but the pendant that he had snapped and broke. At that point he didn’t care, all he cared about was making sure you were okay. He made it to the docks and pulled himself up.

“Sora! Oh my god! I’m so scared. What’s gonna happen?” Sora tried to talk but realized he couldn’t because he didn’t have the pendant. Sora’s mother saw this and gave Sora a magic weapon that will help defeat Vanitas and Xehanort. You hugged Sora and ran back into the castle so that you wouldn’t get hurt.

~Time skip b/c I don’t want to write a fight scene~

Sora and his family won. They defeated Vanitas and Xehanort together. They were able to break the X-Blade and Sora got his voice back. He was about to swim back to you but remembered that he didn’t have his legs anymore. His mother took notice of this and used her magic to summon one of the last Paopu fruits that existed. She handed him the fruit and told him to go to you. He swam towards the docks again and pulled himself up. You walked out to the docks to see if it was safe. You then ran to Sora and tackled him into a giant hug.

“What’s this?” you asked as you pulled away from the hug.

“It’s called a Paopu fruit. It’s said to have a person’s destiny intertwined with another’s. I’m not sure if it will work with us, but I want to give it a try.” he said.

“Okay. Let’s try it.” You and Sora broke off a piece and ate it. Just then, Sora felt his legs come back. The two of you smiled and kissed.

BONUS:

It was two years after you got married and became king and queen. You weren’t feeling like yourself. You kept throwing up every five minutes and sometimes passing out. You and Sora thought that it might be food poisoning, but when the doctor came, it was the exact opposite.

“Y-You’re pregnant?” Sora said.

“Yep! That’s what the doctor said.” Sora felt tears starting to form and hugged you. You hugged back, feeling your own tears forming. But it brought up a question. Was the baby going to be a merperson or a human. When your baby was born, the two of you discovered that it was a hybrid meaning that the baby could change into a merperson whenever they wanted to. The three of you then lived a happy life in the kingdom and went on crazy adventures together knowing that nothing can stop true love.
