As the proud owner of a sighthound dog, I absolutely love how you portray sighthounds in your art! I've always thought my dog had a beautiful, somewhat regal look about him sometimes, so it was wonderful to see that displayed in Machete when he's wearing his fancy outfits. You also captured a lot of sighthound personality traits really well, my sighthound is a protective, high strung guy who loves cuddles and food. When I saw your comic of Machete saying "I love you, but don't come any closer (to my souffle)" I laughed to myself thinking that was exactly something my dog would say if he could talk, and he would absolutely be a fidgeter if he had hands. Thanks for the sighthound rep! More people should draw these beautiful dogs!

That's one of the things I love about sighthounds, they have the potential to look so distinctly regal, elegant and artistic, but they're also goofy in their own way and often have this worried sad-eyed noodle creature feel to them. I just think they're neat.

self-indulgent headcanon time:

I headcanon that Furina has 2 dogs. their names are Philippe and Jeanne Marie, they're poodles and they're treated like doggy royalty.

Neuvillette gave her her first puppy hundreds of years ago and ever since then it's been absolutely vital to make sure she always has at least 1 dog in her care at all times. They're basically her emotional support animals and she probably couldn't go a single day without them unless you want to deal with the ensuing meltdown.

she'll take this secret to her grave, but the reason she loves dogs so much is because she never feels judged by them, or like they secretly think she's incompetent and a failure. they simply just love her for what she is.

Thank you for asking 😭😔 unfortunately I am not. Thankfully this morning was 10 times more insane than yesterday though so I didn't have time to mentally feel anguish or stop to dry heave till right now 💔

Every time this past week I’ve been catching myself thinking:

“Hey, you’ve been smoking way too much weed”

I remind myself that I just spent the past week doing impromptu (because I wasn’t aware Just How Dire the situation was) hospice care for dog on death’s door because of what I’m now like 97% positive after spending some time researching what I was seeing was end stage congestive heart failure that I’m not even sure the owners were aware of because they didn’t mention it and said their vet thought it was all cancer related (which I guess it still could’ve been but… it’s was like. the textbook presentation of CHF, and that doesn’t appear suddenly, you can usually detect that before it’s at what would be considered ‘end stage’).

Then held her while she died just about 49-50 hours ago

And I’m still dealing with some minor back pain from having to help deal with the giant breed dog carcass

Yeah I might “be smoking too much” right now. I don’t care. I need something to help me cope while I’m still processing and healing from all of that, none of which I was even the slightest bit emotionally or physically prepared for. Sue me.

Why is it always people that have dogs they admit are prone to running off or wandering away from home that let their dogs outside off leash or have them uselessly dragging a line behind them attached to nothing or just wearing an electric fence collar as if the shock from that is enough to prevent their dog from leaving their yard if it really wants to

I've been tracking the recent obedience FB drama with the lack of growth vs culture vs OTCH requirements.

Normally I'm so game to jump in on those, but recently have been feeling tired of this fight. Plus a good handful of people have made some wonderful comments already that say what I would say.

In short, I'm happy that people keep having these conversations over and over. That's what will slowly help to change their sport.
