Hello! If I may, would you be amenable to expanding on your "most of you are kinda racist" tag? I do have an idea of what you're referring to with characterization for character of color, and there have been several posts about that in the fandom in the past, but I wanted to ask for clarity to know what you, specifically, have noticed. To be aware of what's happening, talk about it, correct mindsets and actions if needed
Of course, you don't have to answer and can just delete this if you'd like. No pressure. Hope you have a good day :)
hi! mostly i was referring to characterizations of the song twins and wylie and maruca. obviously posts about the issues with linh and tam have been made many times before. for the most part i think that problems with the song twins come from canon itself, but i think people in general need to be more conscientious when looking at their characters and the stereotypes that are already in them :)
and for wylie and maruca, i can't really speak on stereotypes and biases that the fandom has for them as a non-black person, but i just feel like they get put aside by the fandom a lot despite being major characters (wylie in particular)
i really feel like wylie should be an incredibly popular character in this fandom. i mean, he's just got so much... angst about him. you guys love angst. i feel like people take what makes his character so interesting and the hurt and loss that comes with him and just slap it onto another non-black character.
obviously not everyone has to be in love with wylie. but i think the reason such a hurt-and-comfort fic generating machine is ignored so much is because as a black male, he's automatically viewed as more masculine than other characters. therefore he can't be the fandom's "boohoo sad wet sopping cat" character like fitz or keefe, even though HE IS LITERALLY THE DEFINITION OF SOPPING WET SAD GOT KIDNAPPED AND TORTURED DEAD MOM FUCKED DAD WHAT ELSE DO YOU GUYS WANT FROM HIM!!!!!!!!
anyways i wish this was more eloquent but i just wrote this really quick!! these are really specific examples but i don't know how to put the general overall racism that i see into words... i'll work on that!! i also don't know how to explain the issues with fanon maruca that i see so
tldr: the song twin's characters have pretty obvious bias and stereotypes that the fandom needs to be more aware of, wylie isn't popular despite his sad cat-ness because black men are seen as more masculine, maruca's characterization makes me uncomfortable in general but idk how to explain it
please tell me if anything i said was wrong or hurtful! i am not black so you should always listen to black people before me. also i am probably biased as a die-hard wylie fan so take anything i say with a grain of salt :) would love to hear other people's opinions on this!
*also, put this in the tags but i feel like its important to say here too: sad sopping wet meow meow wylie is NOT a good interpretation/characterization its pretty shallow but he still should be getting the same treatment as other characters

Kotlc acter au part three please!!
The first read through of a scene with a new charcter is absolutle hell because everyone’s pronoucing the name difrently.
Wylie swears like a sailor which was a problem during the first couple of season when most of the main actors were still basically children
Keefe can’t sit still while the hair and makeup team are trying to do his makeup
The triplets are as much chaos off set as they are on set
Jensi’s the main character of a big movie franchise and couldn’t get a significant screen time until stellarlune after the movie franchise ended
Fitz is team sokeefe, Keefe is team sophitz, and Sophie is team Sophiana
Maruca’s a world building fanatic and is constantly asking the writers questions about the world
Stina has the power of quiet feet and startled people randomly while filming
Wylie, Gethen, Trix, and Rayni have formed a rock solid friendship being the only people in their age range while filming.
Tam is a lot more outgoing in real life
The song twins did not meet until they were cast
Sophie took French lessons for the Paris scenes
Speaking of… Dex and Sophie were freaking out while filming all the Paris scene. They kept having to stop filming while Dex and/or Sophie nerded out about all the famous buildings.

The SGE Movie —> Racism, anti-Semitism and More.
^^^
Holy fuck there is so much shit to unpack here it’s not even funny.
Okay, starting with the casting.
Will you guys shut the FUCK up about Agatha being Black. Sofia Wylie’s beginning to see the comments and she even had to make a statement about it. I understand people’s concern over Agatha’s self-image issues being cut out and how, visually speaking, she seamlessly fits in with the Evers. Yes, that part is frustrating — I wish the directors had made more of an effort to make Agatha stand out — perhaps being too masculine, too goth, too scruffy, or etc.
So many of you guys say that the solution to this, to Agatha’s ‘ugly’ arc was too cast a white actress. First of, all those fancasts y’all are choosing are fucking models — so no, the problem is not Sofia Wylie being too pretty, it’s about her being Black.
Second of all, if a non-conventionally attractive woman of colour had been cast as Agatha, I just KNOW there would have been even more racist backlash. Like, idk know what kind of world y’all are living in… but u do realise being white is a big part of the beauty standard? So many women of colour feel ugly just coz they are woc and surrounded by skinny white girls. (btw this is not me saying that white people can’t have self image issues — they def can — but with woc it is more of a racist systemic issue).
Again, just to reiterate, the directors/crew could have made more of an effort to make Agatha stand out, visually and personality wise — like they did when she was in Gavaldon. However, they were too busy making sure that Agatha looked like the pure embodiment of beauty and femininity in every shot, so a lot of that story arc was sacrificed. BUT, as unfortunate as that decision was, it was not because Agatha was Black. Far from it, actually.
Before I move on to the anti-Semitism, I just wanna talk about Anadil’s casting briefly. Would have I preferred for her to be cast by an Albino actress? Absolutely. Albino actors deserve more representation. Look, the casting directors did try, they set out a casting call for teenage actresses with albinism but couldn’t find any. Perhaps an argument could be made that they could have tried harder, which is fair. However, most of the people I see complaining about Anadil’s casting, fancast a white, non-albino actress in place. How is that any better? IMO, that’s far worse — as it would seem like that the casting directors would have gone with what seemed ‘close enough’ and providing zero representation. I’m happy with Anadil’s casting and loved Demi’s performance (wishing she had more lines tbh 😭😭). I hope that in the next movie, now that more people will know about it, they can hire an Albino actress for another role? (Perhaps Princess Uma? That would be cool).
Okay, now moving onto the antisemitism. Why — just why did they do that. In case you didn’t realise, as Sophie was turning into a witch and becoming more ‘evil’, she basically she became an anti-Semitic caricature. This is 2022 — I thought we had left the whole ‘evil is when long crooked nose’. Look, I’m not Jewish, but as some one from a middle-eastern background, I remember watching this moment with my family (who have long crooked noses btw) and we all cringed. This is 2022, why the fuck did they decide keep that anti-Semitic stereotype, I don’t know, but we have to hold the crew accountable.
I don’t know if this was Soman’s decision as I don’t remember it being in the books — however either way they could have easily just made sophie turn old and stuff. (Actually, now that I think about, that could be bordering ageism. Why does evilness have to be depicted through physical appearance anyway? Is there no other way to portray evil? Man, we are really screwed up as a society.)
Anyways — Can we please not be racists/anti-semites/bigots? Please?

Blanche of England, Electress Palatine
Blanche of England was the eldest daughter of Henry IV of England and Mary de Bohun, Countess of Derby. She was born at Walmsford, near Peterborough, on 25 February 1392, and was named after her paternal grandmother, Blanche of Lancaster, the subject of Chaucer's The Book of the Duchess. Blanche grew up in relative obscurity until her father usurped the throne. As if overnight, she gained a new importance. In 1401, she presided over a grand tournament and in 1408, she was made a Lady of the Garter.
Thought soon turned to her marriage and in March 1401, it was agreed that she would marry Louis (Ludwig), the son of King Rupert (Ruprecht) of Germany with a dowry of 40,000 nobles and a rich trousseau, including the Palatine Crown that once belonged to Anne of Bohemia, Richard II's first queen. Blanche and Louis married at Cologne Cathedral on 6 July 1402; she was 10 and he 24. She gave birth to their first child, Rupert the English 4 years later, when she was only 14. Despite this, the marriage is often characterised as happy.
Blanche was around six months pregnant with her second child when she contracted a fever. At first she seemed to recover but then relapsed, suffering from exhaustion, continuous fever, nosebleeds and fainting fits. She died 22 May 1409 and was buried in the Church of St. Mary (today St. Aegidius) in Neustadt an der Weinstraße.
