One random thing that I love is the tireless effort of birders/ornithologists to try and phonetically render all the bird calls into text in an accurate manner. I am so bad at processing sounds that I could literally never do this. Like how many times would you have to listen to that bird call before deciding which letters to place in what order??

I have been challenging myself to listen to a bird call, try and write down my translation, then look up the accepted birder one to compare… let’s just say I am not fluent in bird

Internets obsession with Sans Undertale will always be famous 2 me bc 11 year old me was there in 2015 watching blue lightsaber penis happen in real time and then I play the actual game and it’s like. He’s truly just some guy. He’s just there to troll his brother and then drops “i met ur adoptive mother in the woods and she asked me to protect you and if she didn’t oh boy your ass would be grass”. and goes back to just being a guy. Finish pacifist and he goes “I’m gonna go keep an eye on my insane brother” and walks in the opposite direction. Then 11 year old me is like ok what is the hype about. Why do we want this man so bad. Then I play geno and he’s like OUR STUDiES HAVE SHOWN OUR TIMELINE IS BEING FUCKED. UR ASS IS GRASS. Finally got the chance to cosplay Data at comic con Holland! I had so much fun!!!

A lot of people were really happy to see me (I was the only Data cosplayer there) and I got a lot of sweet/funny reactions! Which was really nice, since this is my first cosplay ever and I was super anxious about it.

I watched American Born Chinese because the few posts I did find about it were mostly positive and I ended up really loving it! The story telling is very good and the characters are all extremely engaging. The show really does feel like a labor of love by everyone who was a part of it.

I know there’s criticism because of how different it is from the source material but… I honestly don’t care about any of that. No I never read the graphic novel, but I’ve heard negative things about it too, and just generally speaking I’m not a person who usually cares for tv media to be EXACTLY like the media it came from. Sometimes, it’s nice to see characters I love in a new story I haven’t already seen, and I think ABC was made with so much love and consideration and passion for the topics it DID want to handle, and has allowed itself to be something totally it’s own.

I hope this show can push past the usual wave of negativity that’s often pointed at minority lead and created media and find it’s audience, I’m really disappointed by how little visibility it seems to be getting at the moment because I think this show deserves a chance to tell its story all the way through

i love the detail in spirit world (2023) of xanthe’s deadname being scribbled out in the word balloons whenever their family says it. what a creative way to letter that in the format of a comic without deadnaming them on panel. i think it also so perfectly represents the gulf between who xanthe really is & the idea of that long lost daughter that their parents are clinging too

Just canceled all of my future therapy appointments. Big fudgin’ bummer. Did I mention I lost my insurance? Didn’t even find out about that until the day it lapsed. Trying to find a way to fix it now, reapplying and whatnot, but ya know, it’s bureaucracy so who knows how long it’ll take. Just fingers crossed I don’t run out of meds first.
