Ok but imagine 42! Miles with a s/o who's literally the complete opposite of him in terms of aesthetic but she helps him when he's the prowler. Like nobody would expect the sweet, energetic, girl with the "Mabel pines" energy to be the gal in the chair for the prowler and making his weapons and at the same time being his girlfriend. They're a literal force to be reckon with.

Anyway, enjoy this little scene I made:

Miles breathed heavily, leaning against the wall on the rooftop to the door to go back down to his home. He was dressed as the Prowler, breathing labored from a fight.

Miles tried to breathe the best he could, even succeeding for a moment before his eyes snapped open as he heard the shudder of a phone camera and a flash.

Miles' eyes widened, hand in front of him as the flash died and he saw you standing there, blank faces and camera held out in front of you.

Miles and you stared at one another for a moment, nothing to say at all.

"Is that carbon fiber?" You suddenly spoke up.

"...what?-" Miles blinked, barely able to process this before you almost jumped on him.

"Ooh! How did you make this?!" Miles couldn't even breathe and before he knew, his helmet was in your hands as you went on.

"This material is tough enough but you know I could make a much better one if-" you rambles on, an excitement to your voice Miles knew all to well as you flipped over the mask in your hands

"Wait– hold on." Miles held his arms out, effectively causing a pause in your rant as you stared back at him.

"Y'know who I am…right?" Miles asked, slowly and almost trying to be intimidating.

"Um…the Prowler?" You muttered, utterly confused as you tilted your head, holding the helmet to your chest.

"Yeah?!" Miles exclaimed, eyes wide and hands held out like he was trying to get a point across.

"Mhm. Is this like…a trick question, or…?" You asked, completely unbothered by it all as you looked down at the mask, examining it as you merely glanced up at him.

"No! Just- why are you so calm about this?" Miles asked, shocked as well.

"Well, it's not really shocking. You sorta have the backstory of a villain, anyway." You shrugged, staring dead at him.

"...seriously?"

"Well, kinda. Sorry, is this like a bad time for you?" You asked, still not handing over the mask as you held it over your head, almost trying to put it on.

"No, just, you can't tell anyone about this." Miles said, grabbing the mask to hold it in place and off your head, almost dangerously close to your face.

"I mean, I'm not? But-" you started and Miles almost rolled his eyes at your excited expression.

"I can help you!" You stated, biting your lip in excitement as you almost glowed from the glitter on you.

"Help…me?" Miles raised a brow.

"Yeah! Everyone thinks I'm dumb, but I have dirt on everyone. Everyone. And, not a lotta people notice I'm there so I can get you a lot of info, or like- routes and stuff. I'm also good with my hands."

You went on proudly, Miles looking between you and your hand which held his helmet.

It took a moment, Miles going over it all in his head.

He finally sighed.

Miles opened the door to the stairwell, gesturing inside as your eyes widened in shock before you actually smiled, hurrying inside quickly as you rambled on.

Miles followed after you, a seemingly annoyed expression on his face, but the dust of pink across his cheeks from your smile gave him away.

Chapter 5

Joel called his brother the minute you were gone. He’d been out of the dating scene for so long now, ever since his split with Sarah’s mom when she was still a baby. He went through a period of dating around while she was still too young to remember, but soon came to the conclusion that no one was good enough for his daughter and she’s the only girl he needed anyway. You were the only person he’s had any desire to date since then. But now he was floundering, with no idea what kind of setting or activity would make a good night out. He figured Tommy, who was closer to your age, was his best shot at getting this right. Or maybe he’d suggest the stupidest idea Joel had ever heard. Wouldn’t be the first time.

On the other end of the line, Tommy sounded like he was choking. “What?!” He sputtered out a laugh, “You’re goin’ on a date? With who?”

“You don’t know her,” Joel muttered, already fed up with his brother’s antics.

“Obviously I don’t know her, that’s why I fuckin’ asked. Who the hell is this girl that agreed to go out with your grumpy ass?”

Joel was glad you actually hadn’t seen much of his grumpy attitude. For the most part, he was only like that at work, and left it at the door once he was home. “Will you just help me out here? I haven’t done this in a while.”

“What, get laid?”

“Fuck off. Why did I even fuckin’ bother with you-“

“Alright now, I’m done, I swear. So what does this girl like to do?”

Joel blanked. You liked painting with Sarah, you liked baking, you liked the beach. None of which were viable date options. “She uh, she likes tequila sunrises and margaritas.”

“Did you meet her at a bar or something?”

“No.”

“Jesus, man, is that the only thing you know about her? You’re not givin’ me much to work with here.”

He knew you’d been on several coffee shop dates. You said you liked the low-pressure atmosphere for a first date. But he wanted this to be more special than that.

Tommy offered the best he could, “Well since you know her drinks, and you apparently didn’t meet her at a bar, how ‘bout you take her to one?”

“Not a bar.”

“Why not?”

“I want it to be nicer than that.”

“How about a nice bar?”

“You are such a useless sack of shit.”

Tommy burst into laughter again. “You really tryin’ to impress her, huh?”

Joel sighed deeply, “I wanna treat her right, she deserves it.”

“Now I really wanna know who this is, gettin’ you all heartfelt? Haven’t seen that in a long while.”

“Can’t say I have either.” It was true. Something about you made Joel’s heart mushier than an overripe fruit. He’d felt twinges of it since the start, but had just barely started acknowledging it.

“Well since you’re a big softie now, how about dinner somewhere? Can’t go wrong with that.”

Joel only knew that you liked that one takeout place, and that wouldn’t do. “Where?”

“Figure it out yourself, you ain’t that clueless.”

“I oughta skin you alive.”

“Always the charmer,” Tommy’s shit eating grin could even be heard through the phone. “Good luck man.”

Joel tossed his phone onto the couch and stared at the ceiling. So then, dinner… somewhere. He racked his brain for every place that was at least more upscale than a diner.

His phone pinged– you got home safe. He sent back a quick goodnight text.

He decided to sleep on it. No use staying up waiting for inspiration, it was late enough already. He lumbered off to bed, anticipating that it would be a bitch to get up in the morning.

The following day, you debated sending Joel a good morning text. You stared blankly at the phone in your palm for a solid five minutes straight before ultimately deciding against it. You huffed in frustration, wanting to throw the device out a window. You’d never felt this twisted up over a guy before, overthinking your every move. You always felt at ease around Joel before you made that call, before things got too personal. Was it really worth it to risk that? If this thing – whatever it was – didn’t work out, you had no idea where that would leave you two. Now that you thought about it, you hardly knew what a best case scenario “if it does work out” would look like either.

You got yourself ready for the day, cutting off the thought spiral. Staying busy was effective, for the most part. But there was always a space reserved for Joel in the back of your mind. You were brushing your teeth, but in that space you were on his couch with his hands all over you. You were driving to class, but in that space his lips were trailing down your neck. You were scrawling notes, but in that space you were sitting in his lap, and he wasn’t wearing a shirt and– fuck, new goal, see him shirtless.

It was a futile effort; as the morning dragged on, it only became more difficult to expel the blend of memories and imagination. You could only surface from your daydreams for long enough to throw together the final paragraph of your essay.

Work kept Joel busy. He was subjected to more teasing from Tommy, but that was expected. He could clear his face of emotion, but as much as he tried to clear his mind and focus on the task at hand, he couldn’t push you out entirely. In the searing heat of the Texas sun, the thought of you was a cool relief. Your image lived so pristinely in his mind. He could see you right in front of him, looking up, eyes so wide and shiny, and in the depths of them was something so… needy. Wouldn’t make it through the day if he continued that thought.

You were finally having lunch in your favorite coffee shop, reviewing notes from the lecture you just got out of. You couldn’t recall a single detail for the life of you, and were irked to see that your notes were pretty incomprehensible as well. You flipped the spiral notebook closed, resigning your efforts, you’d redo them from the textbook later. You nearly sprang up from your chair at the sound of your phone ringing. You pulled it out, already knowing who it was. For all your doubts earlier that morning, you had still giddily anticipated his call.

“Hi Joel,” you bit back a smile.

“Hey darlin’, how’s your day treatin’ you?”

“It’s been okay, cut it close with my essay but I finished it on time.”

“I’m sorry darlin’,” his tone a bit sheepish. “Don’t let me distract ya next time.”

You chuckled, “It was worth it.” The proposition of next time was something you stored away in your mind for later.

He made a noise of approval, “Glad I made a good impression.”

You were glad he couldn’t see you, the cheeky expression plastered on your face clearly read shut up, bastard. As much as you wanted to elaborate on just how good of an impression he made, you didn’t want to melt into a puddle on the coffee shop floor. “How’s your day going?”

“It’s work,” he grunted. “Hotter than hell out here. But I’m on my lunch break now, and talkin’ to my favorite girl.”

You caught yourself swinging your feet under the table.

“‘Scuse me, second favorite girl. As much as I like you, darlin’, can’t boot Sarah off of first place. Hope you understand,” he said wryly.

“I won’t lie, I was little jealous for a second there, but I can’t blame you. Sarah’s my favorite girl too.”

Joel’s heart swelled at that. Truly the easiest way to get to him, for better or worse, was through his daughter. And you seemed to do that every damn chance you got. All the times he’d collected her scattered art supplies and noticed new markers that you must’ve bought her, even after he told you not to. When he overheard you two singing together– something she somehow got too shy to do around him. Every time he found a container of leftovers in the fridge and knew you’d cooked her favorite meal. None of it was ever lost on him.

“So I got an important question for you,” he began.

“Yes?” you smiled uncontrollably now.

“Italian or Asian?”

“Asia is a pretty big place, Joel. What country are we talking here?”

He let out a hearty laugh, your new favorite sound. “Don’t tease me, you know I ain’t as bright as you. It’s uh, Chinese.”

“Olive Garden or Panda Express… tough decision.”

“It’s neither of those places,” he said gruffly, unamused.

You stifled a giggle, oddly satisfied with yourself for annoying him. “Let’s do Italian.”

“Does Friday night work for you? Let’s say, 7?”

“That’s perfect.”

“Alright, darlin’, I’ll see you then.”

“I’m looking forward to it.”

You thought he’d say his goodbyes then, but he didn’t, “I got about fifteen minutes left of my break, I can uh, still chat if you’re not busy.”

You were more than happy to continue the conversation. It filled you with something akin to pride, hearing that he wanted to spend his break talking to you. Plus, you were eager to find out some more details about him. It took a bit of prying, but you uncovered that he could play the guitar.

“Yeah, I don’t bring it out much anymore.”

“Why not? I’d love to hear you play!”

“Maybe if you’re lucky you’ll get a private concert.”

You toyed with the ends of your hair, “Do you sing too?”

“I can, not that I’m any good at it.”

You hummed, “I bet you’re great and you just don’t give yourself enough credit. How do you feel about karaoke bars?”

“Never been, actually.”

Appalled, you asked if he was joking, and even more appalled, heard that he wasn’t.

“Why not? They’re so fun! I mean I know it can be annoying if someone forces you to go up there, but it only takes a couple drinks to loosen up.”

“Well maybe I don’t want my talents exploited,” he said smugly, and if he were next to you right now, you’d pounce on him.

“Okay, we’re going,” you managed between laughs, “If it’s the last thing I do, I’m dragging your ass to a karaoke bar.”

“Only because it’s you, I swear,” he shook his head, running a hand through his hair.

It was too easy to talk to him, even when you felt the conversation was clunky on your end, he just bounced off you and kept it flowing. There was an irresistible charm in the way he spoke, and it was captivating just how damn effortless it seemed. His lack of karaoke experience seemed like his only flaw, and that would shortly be amended.

He informed you that his break time was up, and you detected some disappointment in his voice. “Friday at 7, I’ll pick you up. Have a good rest of your day, sweetheart.”

The new nickname had you squeezing the edge of the table, “You too Joel.”

You gave yourself a minute to scream internally before packing up your bag and quickly heading home, where you could scream externally in the comfort of your room.

I did not write much as the scene was quite captivating but damn' this was such a long episode how was it 2 hours long?

Also Local man finger fucks long time friend in carriage and decides they must be married at once.

Okay finally done editing these! Hope you enjoyed! I feel I must now re-read romancing Mr. Bridgerton while waiting for part II.

Nicola really gave such an amazing performance in the carriage scene because I could feel her apprehension, shock, fear, worry, excitement, and desperation the entire time. It was chefs kiss. Same to Luke hats off to him for giving some of the most memorable moments.

I think this episode tried to fix the Bridgerton issue where they have too many speaking scenes on after another like in the Season 2 finale so I am liking the pacing and such! I hope y'all have fun.

Other thoughts from this episode but I'm not coherent enough to articulate further than this:

Pat and Jeng, I know y'all just confessed and are enjoying shoving your tongues down each other's throats, but perhaps be careful of how far you're gonna go in the kitchen of a restaurant. Where food that people pay for is prepared. Just some thoughts.

Oh boy those two are handsy. I love seeing that actually. It's very obviously the honeymoon stage of their relationship and they want to touch each other and not just sexually, but the handholding, he knee bumping, the footsies. Just anything to be physically touching the other person as if to make sure they're actually together. That it's real.

Chot my beloved. I love him. What an excellent talk he had at the beginning of the episode with Pat. If nothing else, I'm glad he and Krist are good. And look how happy he was! I was jumping for joy for him when Krist told him he told his parents.

JAAB. WHAT. THE. FUCK. Who is Paint? Do I care? Only because he played with Jen's feelings so much? What happened to the pining boy at the beginning of the show. The boy who hugged Jen's jacket?

My only theory about Jaab is that Paint is a girl and he is dating her to try to soften the blow for Jeng when his parents find out. After that scene where Jaab comforted Jeng, Jaab must have realized how much pressure Jeng put on himself and how much pressure he was under from their parents and just how miserable his older brother was. So my ONLY guess is Paint is somehow parent-approved but Jaab still wants Jen. But even this is a stretch but I truly have no other idea.

I'm glad that Ae and Beam talked. Is his name Beam? Well I'm glad they talked and that it's Beam's unrequited crush and he'll be able to move on now. No unnecessary het drama. Thank you.

The end and the pain and all of it makes sense. Every bit of pain and miscommunication and every piece of Pat and Jeng's issues make so much sense. This is definitely going to be a hard fight and they are definitely going to need to keep fighting and keep choosing to love each other in order to make it through the other side and continue their relationship. It will be hard but they can do it.

Regency Romance Update: September 20th, 2023

Why does life stuff always happen all at once? Here I go and start to finally have some momentum on this thing and I spend the next several weeks spending my days off dealing family obligations and a root canal. I need a vacation in the woods for at least a week where I'm not expected to see anyone or do anything.

Anyway, exhausted rant about living under capitalism out of the way, the WIP.

I have gotten some more scenes half written in my notebook, but haven't had real time to transcribe and edit, so no telling how many new words I've got. Mostly I've just been jotting down ideas for scenes to go into the second act and draw out Finn and Juliana rebuilding their relationship.

So far I've got a scene where Juliana confront an Anti-Stradfordian and Finn basically has to pull her out of the room before she tears the man's throat out. The use of dance to reflect the state of Juliana and Finn's relationship. A scene where Juliana dresses as a man for a play and Finn clocks how much more comfortable she is in men's clothing. Need at least one scene with Finn coming out of a lake. And plenty of back and forth between them fixing the play together.

I've also decided Finn is working on a drama, which he is not having a good time with since most of the stuff he writes are comedies with a guaranteed happy ending. Queue discussions on Finn's pessimism towards happy endings in real life vs. Juliana's fundamental belief that at the end of the day the universe will look after her.

In general I've got a better sense of the internal progression of both characters. In any given scene Juliana is running the gambit of human emotion meanwhile Finn is so consistent in his pining he's reached a state of zen.

Oh, and I'm finally starting on some spicy scenes, as a treat.

She was in costume, full men's attire from her well worn boots to the working man's cap on her head. The sleeves of her loose fitted linen shirt were rolled up the elbows while the dark green vest hung confidently undone. Her hair was hidden from view, buried under the cap so not a stray curl escaped. These were simple tricks he had seen countless times on a number of actresses, but never had the image rendered him so in awe.

More than the clothes themselves, she held herself differently. He knew her to be naturally athletic, something she often hid with careful movement and the compulsion to make herself smaller. Now she allowed herself to stand tall. Her weight wasn't being pulled up by some invisible string but allowed to sit on her bones be be part of her. The curves of her body were strategically hidden while her lips and eyes allowed just the peak of her femininity. He was left with the impression of an androgynous youth ready to lead him to the nearest glen and never be seen again. He'd follow her gladly.

Wish reaction (yes spoilers)

So first of all, it's really not bad like idk what y'all were talking about. Like compared to all the good Disney movies, it's pretty mid, but it's still a good movie. They fumbled the story structure a bit, the message is about as strong and clear cut as you'd expect from a children's movie, the songs are kind of mid and while they're very good they just miss the mark, and the comedic timing is kind of shit honestly, but it's still a good movie that's enjoyable to watch and will be fan-theory fuel for a very long time

it's still really good, very anti-authoritarian too, like so very anti-authoritarian

now for the spoilers stuff

It starts with the storybook opening which I don't think fits super well and is starting to get a bit overused in my opinion but it fit well enough and was fun so whatever. It was a good way to establish the level of suspension of disbelief we should have for this film and it does its job so whatever

That exposition song though was amazing and I love it so much omg

also how Asha starts the tour with "Hola, Shalom, and Salaam" like yes 1300s kingdoms in the Iberian Peninsula would have Hebrew Arabic and Spanish speakers. And how Asha refers to her Grandpa as Saba. Honestly tho I'm not sure if that's just his name or what cause literally everyone calls him that. Points if that's not his actual name tho. Also just a moment to appreciate the diversity of the main band of characters. Those characters are from all over Afroeurasia. And if anyone tries to argue that it's unrealistic you can just point to the silk road. And also the main supporting character is disabled and uses a crutch.

And also how when they're singing it Magnifico is controlling the wishes and moving them around while Asha is looking at her Saba's wish and it really shows the difference in the two of them. Magnifico wants to protect his power at all costs while Asha wants to protect her Saba. and omg what a way to subtly show Magnifico's corruption and greed for power. Then when Magnifico has his first mini tantrum about Asha asking him to grant Saba's wish and if he won't grant it will he at least give it back. I think that Asha should've sat with this new information for a bit longer before realizing how bad this was but then we wouldn't have seen Magnifico being a manipulative child about it and it was completely in character for Magnifico to do that which would also make Asha realize how bad it was faster. So like, it messed up the pacing a bit I think but whatever.

that dinner with Saba and Mom was amazing. the denial from Saba and the uncomfortableness of the whole scene and Asha's pain at the whole thing. great scene and it's followed by this song that's just amazing. only critique about it is that at the end when she's singing "to have something more for us than this" for some reason the "this" is like spoken and I think that was a weird choice (derogatory)

And the wish scene was great with the tree that she and her father would sit on, next part though I'm not such a huge fan of. There's the whole thing with her Dad was a philosopher who talked about the stars and later there's like a throwaway line that he believed everyone was made of stars. And I love that actually that whole idea and it has such huge implications for how magic works in every single Disney movie that I will talk about later. but it was so poorly included in this movie. Like all we get are a few throwaway lines about it and the "I'm a Star" song which is honestly kind of mid and is super forced in. As much as I love the idea, I think the movie would've been better if they didn't explain the magic as everyone is a star and instead just didn't explain it and leave it up to suspension of disbelief. It seems like there used to be a lot more scenes that talked about it but they got cut at some point and replaced with "I'm a Star"

Anyway though moving on, I don't like Valentino's voice. yes it's funny to see such a deep voice come from him but it just doesn't fit.

Also star is so funny and cute but omg they don't have to have a new joke in every scene. very few of those jokes had good comedic timing and quite a few of them ruined emotional moments and killed all the tension. Like Star is hilarious don't get me wrong, but we shouldn't be laughing at Star's antics when big dramatic evil is going on it takes away from the drama.

Moving on to Magnifico tho. He's an amazing villain for what he is. He's a pure evil villain, he's an authoritarian monarch whose motivation is power and the thing that pushes him to absolute corruption is his entitlement. He's literally like, stop questioning me I'm a good leader so shut up, and he's using real life authoritarian rhetoric about how now he needs to use desperate measures even if it means using the forbidden magic that'll like eat his soul and goodness or whatever. He's pure evil, he represents a real life evil of authoritarianism, he acts like all the people in real life who have temper tantrums because they feel entitled to more power and don't like it when people point out their flaws or have questions they can't answer. and "This is the Thanks I Get" is the perfect song for that

and some people are doing this song dirty by sharing that one clip that's supposed to be funny and show how much of a man-child he is but only works at all in context. People should be sharing the ending of this song which is so much better in the movie and has amazing animation and is so dramatic and evil. Like throughout this entire song he's just singing about how he's such a good leader and everyone should thank him and never question him while he's also kicking and smashing and killing mini versions of the kingdom's citizens.

Then Asha brings her Saba's wish back and I wish he had a statement or something before about how horrible this was so we could've seen his perspective change right then and there but even so it was such a beautiful scene. And when Magnifico found them and crushed Asha's Mom's wish so much drama so much heartbreak. and Asha's realization of just how bad this situation of Magnifico "protecting" all the wishes was.

Also, we later learn it was Simon who turned her in and I think the movie did him dirty because it didn't show or tell us why he did that until the end. I wish there was sometime when he at least had a line about how worried he was at some point and how desperate he was to believe in Magnifico, just to give us a better idea of his mindset and why he gave Asha up. There could've been a point made here about how the people who buy into the dictator's propoganda do so because they're desperate and how those people are often the easiest to hurt even if they don't realize it.

Also that little reference to Peter Pan, Mary Poppins, and Magnifico crushing true love. I was almost laughing out loud in the theater I swear

Also quick appreciation for Dahlia. She listens to Asha and is like, idk exactly what's happening but I trust you that this is important. Like she's trusting her gut and her gut is right and she gets the whole friend group together and ready to help Asha. I wish the friends got more time though and a bigger role cause honestly I think one of the biggest shortcomings of this movie is the lack of subplots. Asha and Magnifico are the only characters who have actual arcs and backstories and I think that's a crime actually cause that was a great friend group that should've gotten a chance to be at least a little more known.

then that final scene with the opening of the roof and then the plot twist with Magnifico and Simon. Like I actually thought that was Magnifico that plot twist was well done. I do think there were a few too many jokes in that scene that ended up taking away from the tension but overall great scene. and when Magnifico came in and trapped Star while we were under the impression that they were safe for at least a little bit longer.

Then Magnifico takes star, makes the sky cloudy so no one can wish on stars, takes away all the wishes, and traps every person in the kingdom and starts holding them down and draining them or whatever. like look at that the monarch has turned authoritarian and is now holding everyone down so they can't resist so easily and can't even hope cause they can't see the stars to make a wish. And then they make a wish anyway cause they're all together and can make new combined wishes. I love how the revolution happens here cause it's not pretending to portray an actual revolution or anything it's very metaphorical and is just trying to say that we're stronger together than alone and if we all stand together we can rise against authoritarianism and corruption.

Only thing is that afterwards Amaya becomes the queen and while I love Amaya I don't like that. the entire movie is showing how monarchy lends itself to authoritarianism and this monarch got corrupted so easily look at that then at the end there's just a new monarch. I saw something about how there was an earlier concept where Amaya was evil too and I would've honestly preferred that. Like they didn't have to show the new government or leaders and I think it should've been left open-ended especially if the other option is gonna be just a new monarch.

I also didn't like how they went out of their way to say Magnifico was completely irredeemable. Like I get that he was never gonna have a redemption arc and this is a childrens movie with a pure evil villain so it's not gonna have nuance, but I think the idea that someone can be pure evil is kind of dangerous and they could've said he no longer has the capability to be a good leader or something.

Now into the implications about magic in Disney. I'm pretty sure that canonically all magic in all of Disney comes from Rosas. Because in every Disney movie with magic there's always a connection to stars. Cinderella says a dream is a wish your heart makes then there's the big Disney song, "when you wish upon a star." In tangled the sundrop flower is a drop from the sun so it comes from a star. Peter Pan is in Neverland and to get there you fly towards the second star to the right and there's pixie dust which based on Wish I'm pretty sure is just stardust. So now with Wish it's telling us that yes, all magic comes from stars and also all living beings are stars. And it also told us that Rosas at this point is the only place you can go to get your wishes granted magically and I don't think that's a coincidence. I think that based on this we can just say that if there's a magic thing in Disney and it's not explained why it exists or where it came from, we can assume it came from Rosas and the stars.

Also I've seen people talking about the original concept ideas about evil couple Amaya and Magnifico and shape-shifting star-boy love interest. I love the idea of evil villain couple and it would've helped with the authoritarian message for Amaya to also be evil and it would've just been so cool to see. And as for shape-shifting star-boy love interest. I think it would've been cool to see shape-shifting star-boy but I love that Asha doesn't have a love interest and this is in no way a romance. I wish that the friends got more attention and I think star-boy would've taken away from that. Can't wait to see y'alls fanart with star boy and Asha tho

Anyway though the movie was pretty good and I expect to see some fucking fan theories. I think that this is gonna be like Encanto in the sense that in theaters people are shitting on it and saying it's bad but once the movie hits Disney+ it's gonna blow up. I've been wanting to see a Disney movie take place in the Mediteranean for a while and this did not disappoint. Like don't expect a Disney masterpiece Disney is still neglecting their animation quite a bit and it's showing, but don't expect trash either like you will enjoy watching this.

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I'm usually really good about it for the first day or so after a fic has posted, and then I kind of.... fall off with it usually. I read all comments! I appreciate all comments! Usually what happens is I see the email notif on my phone, mentally go "ah I will craft a perfectly thoughtful and appreciative and stirring response to this later when I have time to do it justice!" and then I do not do that.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

The one that comes to mind is a fic I wrote for the Hobbit, hands too small to hold it, which is an AU where everyone lives but Bilbo still has the ring and the events of LOTR are still barreling towards them.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Let Us Dwell in Fair Ithilien and There Make a Garden with @greenlikethesea is ONE BIG MASSIVE HAPPY ENDING (after 10+years of tragic angsty pining but w/e). I also wrote a little happy family ever after Garak/Bashir for Star Trek DS9, between the noise.

noooo it's never happened! If I'm getting hate it's behind my back ahaha who knows what goes down in y'alls discords, that’s none of my business! Im a Leo and I work in marketing, so I am not terribly tortured by that kind of thing ahahaha

SURE DO! I don't know what "what kind" means. The smut kind. I've done closed door fade to black, I've done some explicit stuff, I try to give you range baby.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

I LOVE A CROSSOVER! Star Trek/Stranger Things is pretty crazy. My current project is Stranger Things/You've Got Mail put in a blender with Supernatural, so that's decently zany too.

Not that I know of!

I thought Quorum had been translated into Chinese, but I can't find any evidence of it, so might be all in my head ahaha.

I love to collaborate with folks! When the creative chemistry is right it's RIGHT, and it's so fun to ping-pong ideas and paragraphs back and forth. I co-wrote Check Please fics with @softbrah, have written a universe of Stranger Things fic with @greenlikethesea, and it's all been a blast. Me and @aidaronan are cooking up some ideas, if the two of us can ever stop signing up for bangs and things long enough to get to em.

14. What’s your all time favorite ship?

Well of course I will say Steddie right now because I've been living here for over a year and a half. It truly does have just the most delicious dynamic, however the setup and wherever you take their characterizations.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

I don't know if I'll ever finish my Vampire Eddie immediately post-canon fic, I didn't have much direction with it, just Vibes.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I like to think I'm good with atmospheric sensory details, it's something I really care about when writing at least. I definitely enjoy dialogue, too.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Action scenes are hard, and I struggle with nailing (heh) the physicality of sex scenes. My haters in their discords are welcome to chime in here 😂😂

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I have no thoughts in particular. If it works in the fic and you've made sure your translation is right if you're not fluent in that language, hell yeah.

IT IS REALLY HARD TO CHOSE AMONGST MY CHILDREN. I put a lot of my heart into I was open to pain and crossed by the rain (Wayne Munson my beloved) and I'm really proud of what I did with that one. I truly wrote Can't We Be Seventeen knowing it was really just for me, to scratch one of those desperate writing itches after an intense period of fixating on the Heathers musical soundtrack, and I really like that fic too.

okay. okay. okayokayokayokayokayokay. so when i say these words out loud, anyone who's been reading like wringing blood from a stone will probably go, "yeah, okay, obviously," but i just...i have to say these words anyway.

jack fiddler and travis hackett are going to have a fistfight and...........i am not being dramatic when i say that scene is probably a solid 30% of why i started writing the fic in the first place, so i am tearing my hair out trying to get to it klsdjfklasjfldkjsf

of course, this is me we're talking about, so hopefully all y'all out there know it's not going to be quiiiiiiite as simple as two ~60yo men throwing punches - there is so much more that's going to be happening in the scene that i can't wait to get to, but until the moment i can FINALLY hit post, that's all the teaser you're gonna get:

oh what a wonderful segue - as you might imagine, i'm already on the ground throwing notebook pages around me like confetti, so i might as well stick with like wringing blood, huh? sure. let's. ;)c

like wringing blood from a stone is my current SUPER FIXATION FIC, and i've 100% been clogging everyone's dashes with inspo posts for it lately, so if anyone out there is sick of hearing about it, "the hacketts" is the tag to blacklist, hehehe

it's a crossover until dawn/the quarry fic (from ME??? unheard of), and i hesitate to call it a fix-it, but...in my head, i think of it as a fix-it. sort of. the general idea is that jack, the stranger/flamethrower guy from until dawn moves down to north kill after surviving blackwood pines, and he's using all his best monster hunting skills to try and help those wily hacketts.

it! doesn't! go! well!!!!!!

it's a reimagining of the events of the quarry with a focus on the hackett family, so while the hacketteers are THERE, they're very much in the background...at least for now ;)c this one's all about the family drama, folks. it's a character study first and foremost, and even though spooky stuff happens throughout, the real horror comes in the form of dysfunctional interpersonal relationships and the struggle of breaking out of generational cycles. it's also, fair warning, about how far you're willing to go, and the things you're willing to do, to break out of those cycles once and for all.

also i have chris hackett do fortnite dances in it, so there's that.

O: How do you begin a story–with the plot, or the characters?

I have these great plot ideas that never go anywhere. Anything I actually finish starts & ends with the characters. Basically I just put them in a room and set them loose and whatever happens, happens. If I had time, I'd like to see if I could fit those scenes into a slightly plottier story, but unfortunately I don't usually have much time for writing so as soon as I have ~1000 words of randomness (sometimes less) I just publish it so at least y'all get to see it. Even if they're all pointless oneshots.

C: What character do you identify with most?

Jack O'Neill!!! (Pretty sure you already knew that but it's true lol)

K: What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with?

For Stargate, there's 300 words of Sam grieving Jack that will never see the light of day. For other fandoms, I've had actually-unrequited unrequited love (not mutual pining), and major character death. But none of that ever makes it to the page, let alone fics I actually publish.

S: Any fandom tropes you can’t resist? (Again)

What have I missed? There was only one bed is a fave. In terms of structure, I love five times fics. I dunno. In non-Stargate fandoms I like time travel or time loop fics. (I like time travel on SG too but I think fewer people write time loops because WoO exists canonically.)

Story theme song? The opening of Darling by Real Estate. Not only because "Darling" but also the melody is so pretty and it's just such a vibe.

For any 5 characters: fatal flaw? Are they aware of it?

Hmm… Out of this list I'd have to go with:

Coraleye- Innocence/too trusting. She's such a naïve bean and just wants so badly to have the beautiful love story that her parents and ancestors have all had, but it just hasn't worked out as easily. She's completely unaware of how innocent and overly trusting she is which is the problem.

Tycho- Well, Tycho does have the jealousy trait and that has landed him in some hot water in the past, but for fatal flaw I'll have to go with Fear. He's still keeping up the charade and hiding from all his friends and Coraleye that he's an alien. He knows Coraleye values honesty but over the past few years he's been pining and dreaming about living in the reality he's in now, and I think deep down he's afraid to lose it all. He's definitely aware, but still continues to put it off.

Mira- Hmm I think People Pleasing! She's always just kinda been a "Go with the Flow" kind of gal, and her biggest decisions in life have always been because someone else has wanted that for her. She's aware of this, and is just now starting to go for what she wants in life and we're here for it queen!!

Starling- Starling falls into most of these categories, including Pride, Judgement, Shallow, Greed, Jealousy, Opinionated, Doubting, Vanity, Arrogance, and hubris. She's aware of all of it and embraces it fully because why would you want to change someone so perfect?

Brick- Anger. Clearly :P As you can see from the last few posts about him, his anger is the reason all his family continues to keep his baby a secret from him, and why no drywall is safe around him. As you'll see in his upcoming arc, he still struggles to think before he acts.

3. Favorite part of writing?

1000% The engagement aka YOU! The readers from day 1 have been the most important thing to me. It's a smaller community since I've switched to tumblr but a super passionate one nonetheless! It's the comments, opinions, and analyses that keep me going everyday and I will forever be thankful! 4. Favorite scene from your story?

Oh god. I don't even know, there have been some amazing moments and some heartbreaking ones too. If I had to narrow it down to Just my favorite My Darling 4 moment, I think it would have to be this one. This was back when Tycho barely knew Coraleye and went to pick her up after a night of too much juice. During this scene he's a little annoyed with her, but she quickly warms his heart and he confesses everything to her, including his alien status and his feelings for her, knowing she's too juiced to remember any of it. Although it's unfortunately only the beginning of his cycle of confessions he knows she won't remember, (he later goes on to confess and erase her memory after chickening out, multiple times) it still encapsulates that vulnerable and flirty feeling of young love, and just UGH. I also completely animated that scene and that was my first animation. 5. Which of your characters are good liars? who sucks at it?

Frieda Darling is my best liar. She's a total con-woman 😄It was her idea for Coraleye and Mira to get married to fool Tatiana, something that she's done often. Who sucks at it? I think Tycho. He's kept up a big lie for a while but the more vulnerable he becomes with the group, the harder it is to keep his secrets. 6. Choose any character: what is their biggest regret? Let's go with Brick, and some of his regrets or soon-to-be regrets are pretty obvious, but let's keep those vague because some will come to light very soon >.> Just a few related posts for fun:

The time Brick lost all his fame and influencer status after beating up a paparazzi and got cancelled.

The time was goofing around with the Koi fish and literally died (he was later resurrected)

Tycho is capable of extremely vivid fantasies, that have lead to some pretty embarrassing ordeals.

8. Hardest character to write?

Hmm… I think Charm and Frieda. They're my golden couple and they're just so deeply in love and perfect, it's hard to give them any conflict.

9. Weirdest plot twist the game has given you?

Coraleye and Tycho even knowing each other! This was never supposed to happen, but I thought Tycho would be a cute bff for Sunglo, but then he met Glo's little sister and everything changed. If it weren't for Tycho being introduced, Erwin and Coni would not have been introduced either. Can you imagine the story without them? 😳 10. How do you choose character names? do any of them have meaning to you / the story? Oh yes it just depends on the character! if you have a specific character in mind about where their names come from please tell send me an ask and we will discuss in further detail! Gen 3 heir Yellow Darling is one of my favorites, his name has a lot to it. First, it was his Dad Seymour's favorite color. Second, it's his mother Kirsten's eye color, and third, Seymour and Kirsten name him after a ghost they befriended, a native Appaloosa Plains murder victim, Yellow-foot. Yellow's twin Salem was just a name I liked but it turned out to be another crazy color coincidence!

To the previous ask about jimmy and sea characters from the mv:

There should be a reason why jimmy's chars stays at home most the time and the reason is Trauma ofc vcthnkb maybe he had a big fight with his parents and since than he lives alone. Maybe his past lovers were unkind to him (i imagine it like he doesn't know what love is but he dated different people just to not be alone (maybe his previous roommates? He moved from place to place himself for a while until he found this house from mv. Maybe he always said yes when people asked him because he's so alone. Puenification of Jimmy's mv character jdndndjd)) and at the end they always figured out that he doesn't love them romantically and there always were scandals. He was so done with relationship he made pact with himself to not date roommates in this house and boom Sea appears. But before he realises he wants to date him: i imagine jimmy's character as straightforward and honest (not the type of person who would pine, he would just confess) and in a lot of cases people think he's rude when he doesn't have intentions to be rude (do you understand what I mean?). (Sea likes it) But this is only in cases when he KNOWS JFBFJJH he just doesn't know he's in love for some time. And Sea well... He has his fair share of bad dating experience. Maybe he's overtaker! And his different partners all said to him (in one form or another)that he takes too much space in their lives and cares too much. He decided to just stay by jimmy's side because he thought the intensity of his feelings would scare him. They will help each other to change?

I think jimmy's character doesn't like to do house chores and cook (even though he stays at home most of the times). He can do it but he doesn't like it. He can cook only simple dishes just to eat something. Sea at the other hand is hardworking and he's from a family when he needed to take care of himself from the young age and he learned to like it, especially to cook. So when he has time he makes Jimmu different delicious dishes and their joint lunches and dinners are a whole interesting ritual for both of them (this is the only case when jimmy likes to do chores).

Once Sea returns home and sees his bestie laying on the floor, legs shown back against the wall, a pen in his mouth and a sketch of a person with his face lies nearby. He sighs and smiles and asks about it and Jimmy answers that he's his inspiration and this is for new book and demands to take him on a journey this weekend, when Sea's free, because he needs to write beach scene but he can't.

Once Sea takes him to the shop too and Jimmy helps here and finds that he like to take care of plants (and doesn't particularly likes to talk to clients). And this is how they are, always find to spend time with each other and to do something interesting together.

LIKE HEAR ME OUT. i love the idea of jimmy's character having had a big fight with his family and that being the reason why he lives alone: maybe his parents are both prestigious doctors and since jimmy is an only child they wanted him to follow in their footsteps and become a doctor too (see what i did here??? okay, that's not funny), but jimmy always wanted to be a writer and during one of their many fights his dad ended up destroying or deleting the draft of the very first novel jimmy was writing, which ended in jimmy running away from home and never coming back. after that he went from place to place, from job to job, from relationship to relationship, but they were all just temporary things, he knew they wouldn't lasts forever, until finally he managed to publish his first novel and it immediately became a huge success, and with the money he made he decided to settle down somewhere. after looking at many places, he saw the house in the mv and for some reason it spoke to him and decided that he had to live there, but to buy the house he ends up spending all the money he has and now he has to find a housemate to share the expenses with, at least until he's gonna write his next book

after a series of terrible housemates - some of which were just lousy, others that he ended up hooking up with but all ended badly like you said - he meets sea's character, and as i mentioned in the previous post it takes them a while to get closer, but then they quickly become best friends. i LOVE the idea of jimmy being very blunt and direct, saying everything he thinks, and sea being the first person to not take offense but actually liking how straightforward jimmy is, just like i love jimmy not being a great cook and never particularly caring about eating well or doing chores until sea came along and suddenly jimmy's looking forward to sharing meals with him and washing the dishes together afterwards

DON'T EVEN LET ME START ON SEA SUDDENLY BECOMING JIMMY'S INSPIRATION FOR HIS BOOK BECAUSE IT MAKES ME WANT TO GO DROWN INTO THE NEAREST RIVER. jimmy having these big scenarios coming to life in his head as he writes and the main character slowly morphing into sea, which sometimes can be dangerous because he ends up daydreaming so much that fantasy sea would be doing something while the real sea is just looking at him like 'you with me?' and it brings jimmy back to reality. another thing jimmy ends up incorporating into his book because of sea is the language of flowers: the day sea brings him along to the flower shop, sea spend the entire time teaching him how to repot and take care of all the different plants and telling him about their meaning (speaking of which, i wish i could recognize the small flowers jimmy smells in the mv)

and since at this point it’s tradition to have namtan in all jimmysea series, let’s say the flower shop belongs to her and that as soon as she sees them together she knows what’s going on: she immediately understands that sea is in love with jimmy, but she knows that because he’s only ever had a couple of serious relationships that ended with him being dumped for ‘taking it too seriously’, he has a hard time actually trusting someone with his feelings again, and jimmy clearly likes sea back but he doesn’t seem to have realize it yet

also the first time jimmy and sea fight is because jimmy finds out that sea’s dream is to become a film director, but that he wasn’t able to pursue it because of his family, and jimmy thinks it was a situation similar to his own, when the truth is that sea’s mom is pretty ill and can barely work, so as soon as he finished high school he started working to help her out and give his little sister the opportunities he couldn’t have. jimmy of course doesn’t know all of this at first, so he ends up saying some hurtful things that make sea lash back at him, but in the end they can’t stay angry at each other for long: they apologize and talk and idk where im going with this exactly, but maybe in the end jimmy is gonna teach sea that it’s okay to put yourself first and dream a little bigger, and sea is gonna teach jimmy that there’s beauty to be found in the real world too

it's been a lot of fun. i came up with more stuff yesterday in terms of how their dialogue is gonna flow and more scenes that can happen and it's been so fun. i'm so torn btw keeping up what i've been doing, which has been really fun, and actually full on writing this fic. the idea of writing a full fic tho is: daunting bc i know that shit would be long even if i break it up in to parts. but the story at this point is fleshed out enough to at least start a story, and it would make sense for it to be a full fic. but on the other hand it's way less stressful for me to just keep doing what i'm doing and write little pieces as time goes on. tbh it's probably gonna end up like the f&s!au where i incorporate asks into the work and write and post pieces of it as they come to me. honestly i think that's what's best bc again, it's less stress on me and i can actually get scenes out there.

which reminds me someone tell me to finally flesh out what happens at jeno's ascension party that poor doc has been collecting dust. i'm sorry y'all i'm still undecided on the aesthetics i can't: help it😩

as far as scents, this is hard personally. scent has always been really hard for me to describe, along with taste. natural scents are the absolute hardest, bc you can't exactly say someone naturally smells like apples or pine or some shit yknow? that's not how you would naturally smell. to do that you'd need perfume or something else scented. so that's why you don't see me describing scent in much detail outside of vague terms i'm still learning how to do that in more detail. so to answer your question i don't have anything specific planned for their scents, but you do like each other's scents a lot, and even more as your feelings for each other develop more. you're def the type to leave hoodies and panties after your fuck around so the other can enjoy the scent when you're gone. may or may not have a scene in the works about that

Okay so I was looking at this gifset and my mind always like to go to the idea that Eddie was going to actually confess to Buck. I know a lot of people have talked about this before, but I cannot help but talk about this again. Just like at the pairing of those two scenes. Eddie tells Chim that 'we're not promised tomorrow. If you love her, tell her." Which I always couldn't help but be reminded of when Shannon died and Chim told him to 'tell your wife you love her' before she died. And they could've just left Eddie's part in that lil story arc there. Maybe still see his reaction to Chim rushing out of the ambulance and giving him a small knowing smile.

But what did we get instead? We get Eddie asking Buck if 'he was hungry and wanted to get something to eat' which in itself is not abnormal for best friends/co-workers to do. HOWEVER this is the only time that we've seen one of them asking the other (and no one else) to eat on screen AND the fact that it's after the scene where Eddie literally tells Chim to tell Maddie he loves her.

Like setup of it. The PLACEMENT.

And then when they open the ambulance and Buck's mentions how he's not hungry anymore and Chim proudly and adorably announces that he's going to tell Maddie he loves her, Eddie's all "we missed a lot". Which is kinda odd for a guy to say as a reaction to see someone take his advice, especially when that advice is so important like that. You'd think there'd be a small smile happy smile. Not saying that I don't think Eddie wasn't happy for Chim and he probably was shocked by the suddenness of it all. But I do think there is something to be said about how he acted like the advice he gave Chim was like a secret (even though I do think that's just a part of who Eddie is but still).

Anyways, my clown headcanon had always been that Eddie was going to actually confess to Buck (or at least get more of a feel of the Situation™ between them) but then chickened out when Buck mentioned how he wasn't hungry anymore.

And after all of the events that occured after this episode, I feel like that actually really could've been the case.

I have my entire clown outfit on y'all.

Because, just a couple of episodes after this, Eddie almost dies in a well. And what was it that he told Chim? "We're not promised tomorrow". And then just a few episodes later, Eddie literally has a major near-death experience. And what do we find out that Eddie did after the well? He freaking made Buck Christopher's guardian. And then it takes him an entire year and another near-death experience to tell Buck about the will.

We've talked a lot about how Eddie uses Christopher as his way to express his feelings for Buck. Which, honestly, that in itself shows how much Eddie loves Buck and trusts him because Christopher his entire heart and soul. We saw how hard it was for Eddie to bring Shannon back into Christopher's life bc Eddie does everything in his power to make sure that Christopher doesn't get hurt.

By telling Buck about the will, Eddie is showing his hand. Showcasing that he truly meant what he said with "There's no one else in this world I trust more with my son than you". There's no more trust, more love, that Eddie can show to someone than entrusting his son to such an extent. We all know if Eddie did end up getting married to someone else, he definitely would not change the will.

And so, Eddie telling Buck about the will, showing how much Buck means to him and how much he is in fact not expendable and loved, is a major step in Eddie's confession progress.

Now, back in the first scene, Eddie wasn't fully ready yet. And even in 4x14 and the "follow your heart" line, Eddie wasn't fully ready yet. Because he needs to fully deal with the rest of his repression issues (i.e. repressed trauma, repressed sexuality and all that jazz). But, imho, this man is very close to actually saying the words.

In conclusion: s5 pining!Eddie and confession of some sorts here we come.

Which of your fics do you want more attention for? A Soaring Wish, definitely. The style is unconventional for fic, but I worked really hard on it and I think it turned out nice ;;;

Do you respond to comments, why or why not? Most of the time! I skip some comments here and there when I don't really know what to say, but I appreciate them nonetheless.

What sorts of things do you normally write? Uhhh... lots of feelings realization and mutual pining, fix-its, trauma... hurt/comfort too I guess?? I tend to sprinkle in grief from time to time as well.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? I've answered this before, but it's Swan Song by a mile.

What’s a fic that pushed you out of your comfort zone? Once again, A Soaring Wish. Its style is very different from what I usually write, it was my first time attempting a fairytale vibe, and poetry is extremely challenging for me. I may or may not have cried out of frustration at certain points, but it all paid off.

Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I've never written a crossover, but I'm not opposed to the idea.

Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope!

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Nope, and I don't think I'm built for it tbh.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? Whenever I give up on a WIP it tends to resurface one way or another, so I can't really say for sure.

What are you currently working on? My revalink secret santa fic! Once that's done, I'm going back to a half-written Age of Calamity zine fic, then Praestrigia chapter 2.

What are your writing strengths? Sensory description, emotions, and (hopefully) characterization, based on what readers have told me.

What are your writing weaknesses? Complex plots, long stories, extensive dialogue, and action-packed scenes. And I tend to make sentences too unwieldy when simplicity would probably be best.

What was the first fandom you wrote for? Most recent? Harry Potter, probably. Most recent is, predictably, BOTW.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? Treading Water is dearest to me so far. Although, if I manage to write Praestrigia the way I've envisioned it, it might take the cake.

OMG they're watching Love is Blind!!! Finally some trash TV that I actually know... I was very invested in the Amber x Barnett x Jessica storyline btw. Also in terms of advertising, it's quite interesting that they switched from NBC reality shows to a Netflix one this season.

Beth realizing that she owes Stan an apology but being so entitled she actually manages to make a non-apology for it is actually one of the most in-character things she's ever done. And it also reminds me Ruby's "I'm sorry" speech to sizzling-plate-prick in season 2, and not in a good way.

While I saw it coming right from the start that the moving guys were saying the press couldn't fit the doorframe, I can't help thinking that it's actually miraculous that Beth is still alive and free since it apparently takes her 30 seconds to start explaining her criming to everyone. Like... wtf?

I find it very intriguing that season 1 insisted on Beth's gained independance by learning how to make the DVR work without Dean's help and generally being like "I don't need a man to do my handywork" (no pun intended) while we're witnessing the exact opposite here. Our girl couldn't pick a screwdriver herself to dismount the press, no, it has to involve freaking Dean...

This whole "let's crime happily" with the girls + Dean instead of Rio feels extremely odd tbh. Especially Dean staring at Beth making pulp, it feels like a disgusting parallel with 3.04

But also I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Dean's realization that Beth gets off on crime and him calling her out about this and no longer holding Rio accountable for Beth's nature.

"All this time I thought he was the problem. He's just the excuse"
