I had an hilarious (well. Hilarious is a strong word. Amusing is more like it) thought of like. Zoro being "misogynistic" but just to Sanji, because he immediately clocked that sometimes the cook felt like a girl, but because they're both not normal and sick in the head he can't simply call Sanji a pretty girl, a lady or something sweet like that so he just. Says weird shit. The most common one is telling Sanji to go back to the kitchen, but sometimes he gets creative and calls the cook a whore or shit like that. And Sanji gets Soo mad at it, but also So Fucking Happy because this is the most gender affirmation they ever got even if it's in a really weird and honestly unhealthy way. But it works for them, and keeps Sanji happy so it's a win in Zoro's books

Alphinaud's character development over the expansions has been so good. I remember how I used to not like him much, he was a bit snobbish and thought he was always in the right, he refused to accept when he was wrong. Yes, he's young, but 16 is old enough to know when you're wrong and to accept it. It didn't help how sheltered he was and how much the people around him allowed him to stay that way, hiding things from him when he should rightfully know them.

After what happened with the Crystal Braves, you could see how he realized just how his mindset came to bite him in the bud and we get to watch as he slowly begins growing as a person. He has his moments where he still struggles, but then he realizes and he backtracks, he tries again. We see him rely on the people around him more and accept help from them, especially the WoL, Estinien, and Ysayle during Heavensward.

You can't tell me that ARR-STB took place in less than a year, especially with all the traveling via land and sea alike the group had to do during Stormblood. We get to watch him grow over at least a year and then, in Shadowbringers, he grows again, just without us there. You can tell how he has matured a bit more during the near year he was in The First without us and it's nice to see the difference between the arrogant, stuck up kid we met and the boy he is now.

I have casually stumbled upon the realisation that, unintentionally, I have become a journalist more or less like Stanford pines. I did relate to him on that part ever so strongly but only now it occurs to me that yes, in fact, I am also addicted to making little notes alongside my actual research. And to think we both refer to our books as journals!

although one nuisance, he had like,, idk, years? Years to build on his knowledge! And only 3 journals?? I get that he doesn’t write all that much but I in 7 months made 10 journals although I do admit they may be a tiny bit thinner than the irl journal 3 copy I got but still! He’s more of an artist than a writer, constantly making little doodles. Ah damn.

hello a little update into my 3d rendering adventures below the cut hehe!! its all ive been doing lately and i need to ramble about it.

managed to rig up a rue model!!! made her pose a lil!! taken from my instagram story because i forgot to send the actual rendered image to my phone

i also kept running into a problem where the seam between the body & head would show when rendering in cycles but its fixed (had to update blender from 3.6 to 4.0)

but the best part about this all?

remodelling rue now that these issues are fixed!! look at her!!! i still do not know how to add vitiligo but thats a later problem. can always edit that in after a render is done ykno?

gonna give her a camp/relaxed outfit & then a more practical one too. forces me to streamline the rigging process too

also tackled the gortash model today and i think ive worked out how to actually get his textures to be coloured (manually colouring the base map. theres probably an easier way however im too scared to ask for help / advice on the server i joined which was made for this sort of stuff. anyway-)

this has been so much fun to do! ive learned SO MUCH from others & also just. messing around & googling obscure things in hopes theres an answer. i cant believe how much i missed 3D stuff. or maybe im enjoying it more because im not in a stressful academic setting. probably that

in case you are in the mood to feel devastated here’s an alternate way of viewing charles’ response to edwin’s confession:

we know that charles kinda puts edwin on a pedestal- yes they are partners but there is a bit of a hierarchy between them. charles just looks up to and admires edwin in so many ways while constantly looking down on and being really hard on himself. he puts on his big happy persona because he thinks that people wouldn’t like him if they actually got to know him.

so when edwin confesses, it’s like a blow to him. he took his charming persona too far and went and tricked the most important person in the world into thinking he was worthy of love. and it’s worse because he does love edwin in that way, which is exactly why he can’t let him know that. charles still believes that he is like his dad, and he saw exactly what his parents’ relationship did to his mother.

he thinks that loving edwin in the way that he wants to would only cause more pain to this boy who has already been through far more than he deserves. so he blinks back his tears, attempts the same charming smile he’s used all these years, and dishes out the gentlest non-rejection in the history of forever
