hurricanes coming on my brithday so time to dfo a chip ramble! (spoilers)

ok so i cannot stop thinking about how a lot of the time chip in mana was called "racist" it was like, something he wouldnt have known. the "are your horns real?" weird question, sure, but it doesnt really sound like it (THIS IS NOT ME TRYING TO UNDERMINE IT! if its racist, it doesnt matter how it sounds, it is racist.) would be that offensive. the special accent done when he was being "drip"? immediately shamed and not even told what he did wrong. as i noted, no, racism is racism, but it just seems like whenever chip fucks up, its called out upon and is never explained why its so terrible. and thats really what bothers me on it, because both times, its races that chip has never really hung out with (a tiefling [niklaus]) (chip was disguised as a triton yet used i guess a voice similar to a grung??? its confusing, and before you say "but chip knows felipe who was a grung!!" yes, thats why the 'never really' was added, because while he knew felipe he probs didnt know his culture and shit) and wouldnt have known what was considered offensive. and yes, they have every right to be mad, but if i said something fucked up, i would have a right to be explained why it was wrong. i dont know, maybe somewhere in me now chip probably while more cautious with his words, has some anxiety on what he says will be offensive and he'll get yelled at for it and shit (maybe self projection tjhough you can never tell).

while ive seen reasonable ideas of ollie and chip being like brothers, it means a lot to me that like, chip, who didnt really have a parental figure before and the closest he had was arlin, still tries to be a good dad to ollie. like, he knows ollie has an actual dad and mom who probably are worried sick about him, but hes out here with him. and the guilt must sting, but when that kid tries to get into some crazy plan of his crew mates and he sees that smile, he sees why theyd want this kid back. its like "i have barely a clue how to be a parent, let alone a good one, but i will try my best to be one for you here until we get you back home." and ollie sees it too, and i feel like ollie loves his sea dad (who he knows is super cool). i just, them

ya know how i used the "i arely know how to be a parent" thing? i kinda thought on it, and thats basically chip. "i barely know how to do this/be this, but ill try my best to do it right, for them". he wants to be a good pirate for arlin. he wants to be a good captain for his crew. (as i mentioned) he wants to be a good dad for ollie. he wants to be a good person and friend for jay and gill. he wants to fight this war for gillion and lizzie. and he wants to be the best chip he can, not just for his friends sake, but his own. he does it all with a purpose and while he has barely a clue how to, hes going to fucking try and with willpower and destijny, hell fucking do it.

a joke chip fact mentioned in ep 90 for chip was that hes lactose intolerant but he still drinks milk and i cannot like stop thinking about it. cause like, it makes sense. its not his craziest. when getting chased by a dangerous creature, he immediately becomes its "ideal mate" and gives himself "birthing hips" as like his first reaction. he became an old lady and tried to get his pinkie chopped off by the fucking child one time (it instead was done by gill...who used his big fucking sword. yeeouch). i just think about it cause chips insanity is only brought up when it comes to his plans. but, like, where is the crazy chip when his plan fails and he has to bullshit it?! wheres the talk for fucking "hot mode"?! where are the girlies that find it so silly and funny when a bad guy threatens chip and he just comes back like a fucking toddler?! chip is so silly and its just only discussed when chip has a stupid plan (DO NOT GET ME ON ABOUT "if you have another dream me and chip will kill the sun" which while said by gill, chip has no problem with it. like hes not questioning it) which is very sad imo

another thing btw about how chips "horrid plans" are always, like referred to be bad and fail, but he has had working plans and good (even if insane) plans! sure, hes very cringe fail, and he has had bad plans, but its not every plan that fails. his plan with cedric? worked pretty well. using the ball bearings to make that robot trip? gillion just failed his fucking blessing and got a nat 1. the old lady jay disguise? the navy general disguise? granted, some of the best working plans were disguise related, but even the risky one with the fucking suitcase and ollie had worked! so honestly, i was surprised (and still dont believe) when chip had to share a secret about himself and said hes never had a plan. because honestly? the fucking bullshit he thinks up has no right to be insanely well done improv. like, jay doesnt have to be "the one smart person on board" because theyve all had moments of smartness and yet only jay is shown it

I don’t remember if it was @rogue-barnes-16 or @cryforfandoms who inspired this, but it was one of them. Plus, I’m having so much fun writing Clint in NCNR, and also I’m sick of the trope of unrequited love actually being requited. (You’ll find out as you read it.) So, here you go. My first Clint Barton fic.

Warnings: Mild angst. A tiny bit of commentary on my opinion of the traditional idea of masculinity. 

The small party was in full swing when you arrived at Clint and Natasha’s new place. They had used Christmas break to move into their off-campus apartment and had invited your core friend group over for a New Year’s Eve bash.

The three of you had grown up together, and although your friend group had expanded once you were in college, you were still each other’s best friends. They had invited you to join them when the apartment hunt had started, but you’d just been upgraded to a solo apartment at your residence hall and were looking forward to not having roommates for once in your life.

“Hey, there she is!” Sam called out as you entered. “Riley! Your girl’s here!”

Your boyfriend, Sam’s roommate Riley, emerged from around the corner.

“Hey baby,” he greeted you, leaning in to give you a kiss and taking the grocery bags from your hand. “What did you bring?”

“Three bags each of nacho cheese and cool ranch Doritos for us normal people,” you grinned, pulling out a yellow bag. “And, of course, one bag of plain Doritos for the weirdo.”

“I heard that,” Clint said, swooping in from somewhere to grab them from you. “I’d be mad, but I’ve been seriously craving nachos all day. Thanks, Y/N.” He shoved a few dollar bills in your hand and bolted for the kitchen.

“Y/N, can you make sure he doesn’t light our new microwave on fire?” Nat called to you from living room. “He forgot to take the plastic off one of them last time.”

You winced and called back your agreement, giving Riley a peck on the cheek before following Clint.

“I can’t believe you can actually crave nachos with a recipe like that,” you teased Clint as you entered the kitchen.

He looked up at you from where he was peeling the plastic off squares of American cheese. “Says the lactose intolerant chic who wouldn’t know good nachos if they did the salsa in front of her. I don’t know how you stand that vegan cheese stuff.”

“At least I’m not dropping sandwich squares of cheap cheese on a plate of boring chips,” you shot back. “Have you ever considered, I don’t know, adding something with flavor? Taco meat, or salsa, or something? Heck, even flavored Doritos would make that stuff better.”

Clint dropped his plate in the microwave and shook his head. “There’s nothing wrong with simple. Besides, I’m in college; I’m taking advantage of the expectation I won’t know how to cook. I have to learn enough stuff in class already, so no way am I trying to cram more kitchen info into my brain when I can survive just fine on this stuff.”

You sighed and shook your head. “You’re hopeless, Barton, you know that?”

“And you love me anyway,” he grinned, dropping an arm around your shoulders.

“Whatever lets you sleep at night,” you laughed, shrugging off his shoulder and wandering back out to the party.

Clint watched you leave and sighed. Having you and your boyfriend hanging off each other in his apartment was going to test his self-control all night. This was going to be a long party.

You settled in next to Nat, who was curled up in her boyfriend Bucky’s lap. He was talking to Sam and Riley, leaving her free to converse with you.

“How are you two enjoying the new apartment so far?”

“It’s so nice being off-campus,” she admitted. “Clint’s a great roommate, too, when he’s not melting plastic in the microwave. Are you enjoying living alone?”

“Gosh, yes,” you sighed, “it’s perfect. No one leaves dishes in the sink overnight or their coat on the couch.”

She laughed and shook her head. “You always were a bit of a neat freak.”

“Hey, Nat?” Bucky shot you a look of apology as he cut into your conversation. “Can I get up, doll? I’d like to go with the guys who are picking up some pizza.”

Nat pouted at him, but you could see the smile she was trying to hide. “But I’m comfy,” she whined.

“If all the guys all go, we’ll get a few minutes of girl time,” you offered.

Bucky gave you a grateful smile when Natasha sighed and stood up. He, Sam, and Riley gathered their coats as Steve came up with his car keys.

“Hey, Barton, wanna join us?” Sam called. “We’re gonna go get pizzas and drinks. The girls are staying here to do who knows what girly stuff. We’ve got one more seat in the car.”

“Nah,” Clint said as he came around the corner, nachos in hand. “I’m gonna stay and finish these.”

“He’s practically one of the girls anyway,” Nat teased. “It can still be a girl’s night.”

Riley leaned over and kissed you on the cheek. “We’ll be back in an hour, baby.”

“All right,” you smiled up at him, “see you then.”

“What the hell?”

At Sam’s exclamation, the three of you looked up at the guys who had just tromped in with the pizzas and a few cases of soda.

“What?” Clint asked innocently.

You and Natasha were seated on the floor facing each other, painting each other’s toenails. Clint’s were already finished; he was leaning his back against the couch and reading an article from the latest issue of Us Weekly aloud as they dried.

Sam gave his feet a pointed look. “Your toenails are hot pink.”

“The color,” Clint informed him, “is called Bachelorette Bash. Nat’s are Russian Roulette and Y/N’s are Loot the Booty.”

Riley made a choking sound. You shot him a glare.

“Pirate booty, Babe. Treasure. Get your mind out of the gutter.”

“Man,” Sam shook his head, “you’re crazy.”

“Told you he was practically one of us,” Nat laughed.

You grinned up at your boyfriend. “I’d be happy to do yours next.”

“I think I’ll pass,” he said with a smile, bending over to kiss you on the top of your head. “Maybe Sam’ll take you up on the offer.”

“Like hell I will,” Sam muttered, drawing a laugh from his roommate.

“I’ll take mine in mint green,” Bucky announced, flopping down on the couch.

Nat blew on your toes as she finished the last one and reached for a bottle of base coat. “Do you mean Chillato, Mint Candy Apple, or Bon Boy-age?”

“The first one.”

“Dibs on…” Steve scooped up a bottle and read the color title, “Leggy Legend.”

“Shoes and socks off,” you laughed as you took the bottle from him. “Do you want base and top coat too, or just the polish?”

He looked at you like you were crazy. “Duh, base and top coat too! Gotta help that color last as long as possible.”

Sam shot a look at Riley. “We’re surrounded by crazies.”

“It’s just polish,” Bucky scoffed. “It’s not like having colorful toenails puts your manhood in jeopardy.”

“You could learn a thing or two from us,” Clint said with a nod. “We have attractive women fussing over our feet.”

“If you’re concerned about people seeing the color, I have some nearly invisible sheer polish you’re welcome to use,” Nat informed them, finishing the basecoat on Bucky’s second foot. “It doesn’t even have a girly name.”

“Shine makes your nails look healthier,” Steve teased.

“I’m good, really,” Sam insisted with a shake of his head.

“Same,” Riley agreed.

The two of them passed around sodas and slices of pizza to those who were stuck in place while their toenails dried. By the time the ball dropped on TV, everyone’s polish was dry and people had resituated themselves around the room.

“You know, we’re in New York,” Steve remarked dryly. “We could’ve gone to see the ball drop in person.”

“Yes, but the apartment is warmer,” Clint pointed out.

“Touché.”

The singles in the room cheered as the ball dropped, while the two couples kissed.

“Happy New Year, Baby,” Riley whispered.

You smiled back. “Happy New Year.”

Well, that could have gone worse, Clint told himself as he lay in bed, the party long over. He’d gotten an hour with you and Natasha without Riley around kissing you every few minutes. He’d had to glue his eyes to the TV for your New Year’s kiss, but as hard as it had been to see you happy with someone else, he did like to see you happy. Maybe if he hadn’t been a coward through high school, you’d be happy with him instead.

He rolled over and curled himself around his extra pillow. As he slept, thoughts of you kept drifting through his head. Your smile, your laugh, the way you lit up at his stupid jokes….

Cherry-log #001: The Cheriverse

To anyone who's watching: welcome to the first episode of cherry-log! 🎞 Honestly the main reason why I made these so-called vlogs are just to preserve my lovely Concordia High memories, like a modern time capsule. Wondering if anyone will ever be into the life story of a normie? No, I don't really care about the numbers, sweetie. 🧘🏻‍♀️

Here's little back story for anyone who cares. The name cheriverse was derived from my favorite French word ever (the only word I know except oui and baguette, tbh). It’s <chéri> which literally means 'beloved' and the word universe since these vlogs will revolve around me and only me! That's also an abbreviation for Cherry's universe. A TMI: my name Cherilyn came from the word chéri as well. 🥖

Enough with the tittle tattle, it's story time.

Hi, it's Cherilyn Adelaide Galliard, the energetic cherry of Concordia High! People call me Cherry, or Cher for short, but you can always call me mon chéri. 💋 Quoting from my mom's go-to all in one site 'Cosmopolitan', my Pisces sun makes me both secretive and expansive, magical and worldly, soulful and joyful. So, yes, living is hard. I was born in South Korea, 17.. almost 18 years ago. My mom's a South Korean astronomer and my dad's a normie American businessman. They met somewhere in Seoul when my dad had a business trip, fell in love, got married, and made me. I spent my entire childhood on my mom's hometown, Pohang, so I grew up learning Korean culture and language. I can even curse in Korean, don't try me!! My kinda Asian blood contributes to my one and only weakness (other than hot guys and girls 🥵), which is lactose intolerance. I never even have a spoon of ice cream.. or coffee latte in my entire life. Heart broken so many times.

On my 12th year of life, dad brought the whole family to the USA and that's when my life as an American girl begun. Concordia High, which is one of the most prestigious private schools in the USA, became my high school of choice. Well, there were struggles on my first days as their student. I spent a lot of time in Korea, and although I did study in a popular international school there, I'm not really familiar with the slangs or trends here. 🥲 Adapting is my hardest homework, not until Lorelai came to the rescue. She has been an important part of my story ever since. We became BFFs real quick! We are polar opposites in terms of personality, but we somehow have similar tastes? We even eyed on the same club since our freshmen year: cheerleaders squad.👯‍♂️ It became our first dream and (spoiler alert) we made it!! And of course, your Concordia High life wouldn't be complete if you haven't joined Clawscordian, the cult for hottest babes of Concordia. Lorelai and I promised that we will, by any means, join the cult once we turn junior. I sometimes took part in the pottery club's workshops because I like my cups self-made. Some of my friends call me 'Cherry Potter' because of my interest in pottery #punintended. Come on guys, it's also a form of art??? 🙄

I've once or twice posted pics of my kitties, Amber and Bizzy, on my socials. Not sure if people noticed, but I'm a proud cat butler! 🐈 Babies sure have a life more amazing than average people in this world. They literally have a private bedroom with a $1,000 cat condo I custom made and unlimited food supplies. Also a maid and a groomer that works only for them??? What a life.

As I've told you guys multiple times, I am half Korean that grew up in South Korea, so I love Korean cuisines A LOT. 🥟 Moving to the US makes it hard for me to find Korean restos that have the perfect kimchi stew taste, but every time my Korean soul kicks in, my dad would call our family's favorite private chef and he'd fly all the way from Seoul. Yum yum! Girlie's happy! 😋

I have a HUGE crush on Bruno Major. Like how can someone possibly be a lyrical genius, a brilliant musician, and a singer with perfect voice at the same time? 💗 His songs are literally so soothing and poetic, I feel like I fall in love everytime even when I broke up with my ex??? I LOVE all of the songs he ever dropped but 'Nothing' has one spesific spot inside my heart that no other song could ever replace. Because of my huge love for him, I lead a club for Bruno Major fans in Concordia High (haha hey.. DM me if you're interested, babes). 😉 Other than him, I casually listen to Taylor Swift's songs too. Reputation and Folklore are my recent faves! I also listen to a lot of Korean girlgroups and I can proudly say that guessing K-pop songs in 1 sec is my forte. I have my own Spotify playlist dedicated for them, which I usually play during workouts. 💪🏼

The title 'The Energetic Cherry' 🍒 was chosen from a list of possible titles because I feel like that's how I'd like to represent myself. I'm just a free-spirited girl who have a little too much energy and love for freedom. I opt for fun most of the times, but I know how to place myself on situations that has no fun included at all. Again, perks of being a Pisces. Key is: balance! Being part of Concordia is a once in a lifetime chance for me and I'll live my life here to the fullest. 💘

im feel like i’m forgetting what kind of person that i am

because i was constantly changing, though for the better (i think) but i feel like i’m losing my genuine self. 

so in case you forgot, dear self, let me remind you of what you really are.

you are funny. don’t let people call you a cold hearted b just because you have that resting b face. your closest ones think you are hilarious. 

you like flowers. if other people said that flowers are useless, then it is for them, not for you. flowers do soothes you. flowers calms you. have them anytime. you love peonies the most but chrysanthemums are great too.

you exercise regularly not to get skinny, but to be healthy. you know you’re a weak a b if you don’t exercise, so get on your mat at least once in two~three days. 

you control your food intake to prevent you from being sick, not because you are picky. it is OKAY. 

when you walk, sometimes your steps get bouncy and you jump around. but you never do that in proper occasion so it’s okay. 

when you eat yummy foods you get all excited and start shrugging and you move your head to the left and right.

when news about disaster/unfortunate events you tend to not look at it, but that’s because your heart can’t take it. you’ll eventually find ways to help. it’s okay if you can’t look at the news intensely. 

you are not afraid of cats. you actually find them cute. you just scared that they might jump on you (though most likely they won’t cause why bother?-said them cats). you just need some time to learn to hold them. 

you are fully aware of the situation that you are in, and you are instantly finding ways to adjust to present in the moment well enough. but still, you often find yourself not doing your best, even though you have tried. so just remember that what’s past is past. you can always try again next time.

you like babies, and kids. watching them put a smile on your face. every time you feel low, just scroll picts or vids of them. thank me later. 

you like to learn anything. if you don’t find sleeping for hours recharges you, then it’s okay to get up and read something. 

you like someone that treat you gently and with care, because you also will definitely do the same to them. it’s okay to admit that you are bucin maksimalll type of person. 

you like to go to nature as much as you like going to the mall. it’s okay.

you like girly stuffs. though lately you tried to use sneakers (because it’s comfortable that way especially since you get to work by krl everyday), but if you want to wear those sandals/shoes that got a lil bit of heel, so be it. WEAR THEM.

if you can only eat one food in your life it must be sushi and sashimi. YES THEY’RE COUNTED AS ONE you can’t debate me on this.

you enjoy to go somewhere to do anything by yourself. it’s okay if you enjoy your own company.

you wish for a stable future with a comfortable house of yours with lots of plants, open space. you can get it. believe me. 

you love your friends to death. they’re all your savior. you won’t survive this life without their existence. you’d do anything for them.

you can ride motorcycle for hours, but still you may need some caffeine to get by, go drink your americano.

you survived the darkest years of your life. remember late 2018 til mid 2020 where you lost 5kilos and cried almost everyday? but in the meantime still got things done, took care of your fam, cooked for your fam, cleaned the house, managed to passed your cpns tests, and still maintained a great relationship with your friends?
