Fun Fact
BuzzFeed published a report claiming that Tumblr was utilized as a distribution channel for Russian agents to influence American voting habits during the 2016 presidential election in Feb 2018.
Why is it that so many people seem to think that everything wrong with Maiko is somehow Mai’s fault, and that she has a lot of work to do before she can be a "worthy" girlfriend for Zuko? You want me to say what the real source of their incompatibility is? It's not Mai. It's Zuko. In case the class hasn't realized this, the boy was a needy, whiny little bitch baby for pretty much the entire show. He blew up at people the moment they said something he didn't want to hear, or they didn't cater to his every whim and validated his feelings. Yes, this is a result of how he was raised by Ozai, and to an extent, Ursa, with the way she coddled him BECAUSE of Ozai’s bs. However, it doesn’t excuse how he acts towards others. And you want to know something else? Let's say he did get together with someone who was more open with their feelings. Let's say it was Katara. It still wouldn't have changed anything. Why? Because he still would have had that flaw regardless. Hell, we have canon evidence showing how he treats people who showed him kindness or tried to open up to him. Toph? Brushes her aside. Iroh? Treats him like crap most of the time. Song? He steals her and her mother's ostrich horse, which was likely their only mode of transportation.
So, all of this to say? None of that has anything to do with Mai. It's a straight-up Zuko problem that he has to acknowledge and work on. Otherwise, he will never be ready for a relationship. It would be very unfair to dump all of that onto his girlfriend, and she shouldn't be expected to put up with his crap either just because he was abused and he constantly has an internal crisis about his every action.
And like I said before, this is actually why I prefer him with Mai. She calls him out on his behavior whenever it's needed. And with someone like Zuko? You need that.
So, I have been to Universal Studios in Hollywood, which includes Super Nintendo Land, so I have to talk about it... or I'd like to, but I didn't have a good experience. It didn't have much to do with the park, it was mostly my family. I don't need to get into that though. But I only got to experience about 5/6ths of what it had to offer.
Most of what I did experience was cool. But most of the flash was in the lobby and the 2nd half of the line for Mario Kart. The first half of the line is based on Yoshi's Island of all things, but there's very little to look at until you reach Bowser's Castle proper. The ride itself was actually kind of mid. There's an instruction video, but unlike most of the other rides, there is no voice over for the instructional video you watch before the ride. Just a slide show and a Lakitu that doesn't talk. The ride is pretty slow for a ride based on a racing game. I think they could have sped it up a bit and had it do 3 laps, like a normal Mario Kart game, but it was still fun for what it was. I would have liked the AR goggles to be bigger so I could see more. I managed to do alright anyway, 126 coins.
As expected, it's not really a Nintendo land so much as it was a Mario Land. The only thing not Mario related was a few hidden Pikmin. There was no Wario or Waluigi material at the park. The Koopalings are only represented as baddies in the Mario Kart ride. And I think the only Daisy representation is one of the wrist bands you can buy. I may have missed something though, I didn't get to see everything. But you can see that even their Mario representation is very selective.
I got a few souvenirs though. A dancing piranha plant that wiggles in response to music or sounds when you turn it on, a very soft Mario cap which is now sitting atop my Dragon Quest Slime plush, plus a Yoshi shirt... don't normally go for Yoshi these days, but the shirt seems to be using his Super Mario World design for some reason?? I adored Yoshi in the SNES days and he still makes me smile when he's drawn in 2D and kind of resembles SMW Yoshi, so I picked that one..... that and my brother said he was thinking of getting Bowser. Otherwise I would have got Bowser... and of course, he didn't get Bowser in the end. But oh well. Maybe if we come back in a few years, I'll get Bowser, and hopefully have a better time.
The AO3 search/filtering system has just ruined me for every other search function ever. I genuinely go onto websites, click 'advanced search' and then look at what paltry options they've given me in utter horror. How does anyone find anything? How do people survive?
Clogging disability tags is a massive problem that we need to address. Many tags, especially those surrounding permanent injuries, paralysis, vision loss and certain illnesses have become unusable due to being flooded with unrelated things. Yes, that includes your writing. Those tags are not for you. It's isolating, frustrating and depressing to try finding a community and other people who share your issues but all that comes up is whump, fandom shit, gifs, headcanons, etc.
I'm newly paralyzed. I have looked at many tags surrounding paralysis, trying to find support, a community, anything of people struggling with the same thing. Nothing. There's barely anything for us in the general disabilty tags. I am BEGGING you to understand and recognize how AWFUL it is.
So, I have a proposition. A tag you can and should use exclusively for disability content in whump writing. Not any other tag surrounding disability, lest you'll clog it up.
#disabled whumpee
It's tempting to use more specific tags, I get it. Due to being in the whump community myself I know #medical whump is already a tag. You have those tags. Use them. Don't use the disability tags. Don't clog up the few spaces us disabled people have.
what can you cook? what's edible? what's possible with enough imagination?
I'd like to start with things that are present in-game (vanilla), first, the foods and drinks (ingredients too), having a loaf of bread with a nice mushroom stew seasoned with dandelions for breakfast is an option taken straight from the game
now let's say that I take the apples, wheat, milk, sugar and eggs to make an apple pie, that isn't in the game, but it's something possible to craft
in an extend things like salt can exist because the presence of sea water, same as things like bacon (pigs), cheese (milk) and so on
what if I throw the existing leaves in hot water to make tea?
or since all the dyes have an organic source can I make a rainbow cake?
how you cook things must be important too I imagine, maybe steak cooked in the smoker tastes way better than cooked with a fire aspect sword

to summarize an unduly rambly post: our control over kris has been steadily growing more and more distressing for them throughout the story. the snowgrave route, possibly the most gut wrenching, violating imposition of our will on theirs AND Noelle's (*homer voice* so far!), explicitly, thematically, and visually represents possession and coercion through romantic imagery, specifically rings and weddings. it's nauseating. it forces both of them into an implied relationship that neither of them is comfortable in by leveraging noelle's desperate wish to reconnect with her childhood friend. it has exactly the horrible connotations you don't want it to have.
ralsei being presented as both a direct callback to asriel—both the undertale asriel we know, and y'know... kris' brother in deltarune—while also setting him and kris up in a clearly romantic context that kris does not seem to either share or be comfortable with, is not a coincidence. it's not an accident. "isn't that a little incestuous" that's the point! kris' agency being stripped away is one of deltarune's main thematic cores: the game is repeatedly setting up a pattern where that theme is reinforced by putting kris in upsetting, unwanted romantic relationships for OUR entertainment. nothing fits the bill better than pairing them with the nostalgia bait companion that literally looks like their brother.
Important tip for trans men/transmascs/whoever needs the reminder: Even if you pass as a man to cis people, you still need to have either some form of self-protection on you (e.g., mace, knives (if you can use them effectively), ect.) or know some form of self-defense. Please take it from me, you don't know what will happen out there at any given time.
You might assume that if you pass as a cis man to cis people, you will be safe from any harm. While I wish that were true, it simply isn't the world most of us live in. Please do whatever you can to protect yourself out there.
johto’s champion and chronicler for the deity of the ilex shrine, it’s lyra!🌿
this one took me a while due to trying out different techniques (studying a Lot of art nouveau) and making a couple changes to her outfit (the details help), but I’d like to think she’s learned a lot in her journey and wanted to reflect her experience more in her champion fit
her specialty would be in fairy types and her meganium’s divergent evolution is grass/fairy 🧚🪷
and a bonus w/ the johto gang after the photoshoot!
