It’s kind of hilarious that my little sister (11 y/o) watched LOTR for the first time today and her favorite character is Sméagol. Like, favorite-favorite cry if they die happy anytime their on-screen kill anyone who hurts them kind of favorite. Literally NO-ONE expected it but looking back it’s kind of obvious. When my stepdad said it’s cuz they’re alike personality wise (which, tbh kinda true) she was very happy and proud by the comparison.
She is buying a Sméagol plushie now (to keep the Demogorgon plush company)

I am currently watching through The Lord of the Rings again (as you do).
I love these movies. I will show them to my children (or nieces/nephews) and grand children and great grand children. There are quotes from these films that see me through dark days.
(Reason I can accept the flawed Hobbit films is that they too have quotes that stick around)
That said, as I watch with my parents and thier even older friend, I am listening to them react to Boromir the same way I did the first time I watched it. Knowing what I do now about the back ground of canonical Boromir, it hurts a little bit.
If you are a fan who has read the books, or even is involved with the online fandom- you know. Boromir is a good man- the best of men. He is supposed to be a shining example of the best of us, and his fall to the Ring is meant to show that it could happen to ANYONE. It is meant to be a message to us all that you are not your worst moment, or your worst fault.
And yet because of all the foreshadowing and arguing over choices to make during the quest, we the audience of the movie see him as someone just one step away from betraying everyone. His attempt to take the Ring is not a surprise, or even a tragedy, but a confirmation. The surprise is his redemption in death.
I think there is a version of “The Fellowship of the Rings” that I would have liked to see.
Indulge me:
Part of the problem is that Aragorn is falling into the spot Boromir could be filling. He’s just too epic to allow any other man next to him to look impressive. 🤴🏼
This not only does a disservice to Boromir, but to Aragorn himself, who could be having a much richer personal growth.
So, imagine this.
Strider leans more into his “Ranger in the Corner” persona. He is quiet, terse, filthy, mysterious, and comes across more like your traditional rogue than anything approaching Kingly.
Legolas is the only one to call him Aragorn, he does it exactly once when defending him to Boromir, and never again. Legolas himself is a little different- a few more sarcastic quips, more friendly and forward, the sunshine to Strider’s gloom. When they get to Lothlorian, the elves there acknowledge “Strider the Ranger” as someone known to them, but Legolas of the Woodland Realm does the negotiating. The vibe is “ah, yes… that human Elrond adopted. I suppose we should bid him welcome…” 🫤 (Obvious exception of Galadriel. She knows all. It just makes her seem more out there).
There are a couple less references to his lineage, and every time they do, the feeling from the audience should be- “Really? THAT guy?”
Arwen is clearly in a rebellious stage and looking for a bad boy. Him telling her to go very much has that angsty teen feel of “you could do better” and “I am poison to you.”
Elrond is clearly trying to get through to him, but do we think it is going to take? He remains quiet and moody. Was he the first to volunteer to go? Yes. But it was less a declaration and more of an ernest whisper meant for Frodo. Legolas’s immediate follow up is less “I am inspired” and more “My pet introvert will not survive without me, but I am so proud of you for asserting yourself.” 😂
Meanwhile- we have Boromir. Now, I love me some Sean Bean, but I need him at his most joyful. Most jovial. Give him a big old beard. Pad him out with thicker armor to give him a broader chest.
Boromir is supportive. Boromir is playful. Boromir is everyone’s big bro, ESPECIALLY the younger hobbits. I basically want every scene he has with Merry and Pippin expanded to everyone.
I want the sword drop to feel less like a stranger being disrespectful, and more like a himbo being clumsy.
I want him to talk about the path to Mordor of all the concern of the older sibling who has seen and been, and his dismissal of Aragorn to feel justified. “Yeah… sure, put that guy on the throne. Uh huh. I think we dodged an arrow there.” And I want the end of it to be a bit of a laugh and a clap on the back, and “no offense meant, Strider Ol’ chap, but you don’t seem the type!”
I want every disagreement with Gandalf or Gimli about which way to take to feel like him advocating for everyone’s safety.
I want him to slide into the role that Aragorn currently has, protecting everyone, especially Frodo, and to have Strider fall back into a quieter rear guard position, only to really speak up to sharply tell someone “don’t disturb the water” “Hide!” “get them up.”
Strider will speak on historical landmarks or lands we are entering, which always makes Legolas smile in support. “See, he knows cool things. I am telling you, you wanna be friends with my guy.”
Instead of Strider or Gandalf sending Gimli or Legolas chastising looks, we see Boromir, the peace keeper, laughing at both of them. “Come now master dwarf, the Elf will love trees as much as you love Rock, it is to be expected! I myself would be weary of being out in the open so often, and also loathe to spend as much time under ground as your kin, yet I have been known to be grateful for either tree or rock in a rough spot or two (chuckle) As I’m sure you would find the open forest or the dwellings of men far too open for your liking, but would not begrudge shelter in either when when the rain sets in. To each their own way, as my brother would say! You would like him (directed at Legolas) he speaks your poetry much better than I in any rate! (Aside to Gimli) I am more for the drinking songs myself. Speaking of, have you heard the hobbits tell you about their little place? Master Pippin- tell us, how do Hobbits live?” He just keeps cutting off rudeness with rambles about something his brother said or how the hobbits or men are like both of them, and really, do these fights between dwarves and elves matter when they have Sauron to face? Come! We are brothers in arms! There are moments they bask in it, and moments they are bonded by the annoyance of it. Either way he wins.
(In Lothlorien, they are bonded in grief, in appreciation of Galadriel, and in the strangeness of Boromir being too caught up in his own musings to try to fix them)
I want Galadriel’s speech to both Strider and Boromir to feel like a deepening of characters we are already starting to like, not confirmation of things we suspect. I want her to tell Frodo- “You know of who I speak” and have the audience to go “What?! WHO??? Who is this crazy woman talking about? Oh, she has those seer powers- what does she know?!”
I want every reference to Boromir starting to fall to the Ring to be less obvious foreshadowing, and more a sympathetic look behind the jovial curtain.
“What ails you Boromir?” “Oh- never mind me. My mind has gone back to my brother. I was meant to lead the armies you know.” Strained smile. “Now it falls on him. It is a heavy burden, but he is equal to the task. Probably better at it than me!” Laugh. “It will be well. When I see him again I will have to congratulate him on defending our people so well. And he will chastise me for being away so long to leave him to pick up the slack!”
Far away look. Any of the company gives him a questioning look. “We are not far from the borders of Gondor- she is just over that mountain.” Strained smile. “Forgive me, I have not before been so long from home. I did not realize I would yearn for it so. Perhaps that is why I keep trying to turn us that way- feet always point home, do they not?” (This would be poinant with Sam, Legolas, Gimli, or Strider)
At any of these moments, he glances at the ring. A glance. That is it.
If there are obvious moments of temptation, I want one for every single member of the Fellowship (the movie is long enough, there is room). Gimli admires its make, for all that it is wrought with evil. Dwarves know a thing or two about jewelry, you know. Very good craftsmen. Legolas speaks of the rings of the elves, How they never passed to his line- he isn’t surprised. Surprising bitter moment of saying his Father is one of the weakest of Elves. Gandalf interrupts his musing by talking about his ring. (Could be a moment of bonding with Gimli too) Strider tells Frodo he should preserve his strength- can he not put the Ring in a pocket or pass it to another hobbit? (He does not ask to take it, but music implies the question). Merry and Pippin keep talking about “I know it’s evil, but you have to admit, it has a nice shine to it, doesn’t it?” It is playful and flippant, but there none the less. Boromir might ONCE mention it’s use as a weapon, speaking of what Sauron was able to do with it “They say it was the Ring that allowed him to grow in size and strength- he could kill 8 warriors with one blow!” Only to back track when Strider or Gandalf give him a chastising look. “Forgive me,” he says with a laugh, “I am at heart a warrior, and see everything as a possible tactical advantage. Of course it would only do damage should anyone try to use it.” Gandalf turns away, mollified, Boromir whispers conspiratorially to Merry and Pippin “But imagine! Eight feet tall!” (Chuckles all around- foreshadowing to the two growing to be the tallest hobbits) The whole thing should be told around the fire at night like a good story- again, even in his weakness, we see him as an excellent big bro figure.
The point is, I want to get to Galadriel saying someone will take the Ring and the audience is suspicious of EVERYONE.
Then we arrive at the moment. We all have our suspicions. Strider has gone off to find Frodo. There are implications of everyone being out looking. We saw exactly one glance of Boromir’s shield. Out of everyone? The money is on the creepy mysterious Ranger who might have a heart under there but only seems to snap at people.
Then Boromir tries to take the Ring.
From this point on, EVERYTHING Is EXACTLY the AS THE ORIGINAL.
The context is wildly different.
The shock of Boromir taking the Ring has the gasp effect of Hans’ betrayal in Frozen.
Strider turning down the Ring has us all feeling guilty and weepy, because he’s just quiet and concerned damn it! He has always meant well!
Boromir suddenly realizing what he has done has us sobbing “He didn’t mean it! He didn’t mean it! It was the Ring!” And then he immediately turns to defend Merry and Pippin. There are no dry eyes.
We have seen Strider fight- he has precision and skill. But this fight suddenly feels like he is proving something. Like he is standing up for this man who cannot. That is Boromir, Prince of Gondor you struck down, and he is NOT undefended! Something has shifted. Strider is rising, and it shows in this fight against the leader of the Uruki.
Boromir’s final words to Strider, he calls him Aragorn. He calls him brother. He calls him king. It feels less like a shift in view to culminate a redemption, and more like placing a mantle, more like giving final support. Boromir would have been next to lead the people of Gondor- he is giving it to his friend. Vibes of : “You tried to hide, but I saw you. The elf was right. You will be a great King.” Even at the end, he is the Big Brother we all want.
The last moments of the movie when Legolas sees the hobbits across the river is a shift. “Aragorn!” He calls “they have reached the other side…. You mean not to follow them.” We suddenly realize that Legolas was never leading his quiet anxious introvert around, he was always (more subtly) following his lead. Aragorn (as he is called for the rest of the films) is standing tall, and assertive, and making a decision for the group. And they follow.
People rewatch the Fellowship 3 times its first week in theaters, just to catch the moments that warn us that Boromir will fall, and the moments that hint that Aragorn might rise. There are cries of “No spoilers! Let your friends and family find out for themselves!” People break scenes apart to analyze this dynamic for years to come.
Going forward:
Because of this shift in context in Fellowship, the rest of the Trilogy feels more like watching Aragorn come out of his shell and taking on bigger and bigger rolls.
Meeting the Rohiren is suddenly the first time Aragorn speaks for the group. He does so because these are men, and because his friends are being idiots. 😂
The rebuff of Eowyn’s affections feels like more of the same from his relationship with Arwen- he does not feel he deserves it, even now. She is a leader of her people, and he is not yet sure he can say the same. By the time he can, it is clear Arwen’s heart is with him and his with her. It also feels as if he is leaving Eowyn room to pursue her own destiny, to be a leader in her own right. Arwen is supportive, where Eowyn takes charge- perfect for a fully supportive Faramir. 👍
His approach to Theoden feels less like shrinking away, and more like feeling out when he should lead and when he should step back.
Disrespect from any character feels less like a fault of theirs and more like “I mean, I get it, he’s a bit grimy, but he knows what he’s talking about! You don’t know him! He could be a king!” Theoden’s refusal to listen to him feels more like a tragedy, because how else could it have gone?
The entire Two Towers plot becomes a discussion of leadership. Gandalf swoops in and out, and expects people to listen to him. Eomer is direct and aggressive, but only leads warriors, not a kingdom. Theoden has many under his protection, he must weigh risks and lean on older wisdoms. And then there is Aragorn, still figuring himself out, helping Eowyn to do the same. (With every step he takes, we wonder how Boromir would have fit into this discussion- would Eomer have recognized him? Would Theoden have listened more or less to the leader of Gondor’s armies? Would Boromir have stepped back as often? Would he have insisted, in his still jovial way, and would it have caused conflict? Would he inspire men in the same way? Would it have worked as well? We have no idea how he would have handled Eowyn, besides stepping in as a brother since her’s is out fighting. Suddenly this thought of Boromir is on Aragorn’s face with every decision) What Aragorn figures out is that he himself is honest, ernest, and relies on the support and help of others. The conclusion of The Two Towers is the understanding that Aragorn does not need to be a King to be a Leader. That has always been in him. Has he not lead his group this far? Does he not make friends everywhere he goes? Does he not inspire men and elves alike? (Gimli is but one dwarf, and we do not get further examples 😂) He is not Boromir, or Eomer, or Gandalf, or Theoden, but still, he leads.
The Return of the King is an obvious end to his journey, but it feels more fulfilling, since we have seen Aragorn come farther. The moment he claims his birthright with the ghosts under the mountain is a moment that elicits cheers. His speech at the Black Gate brings tears, not just because of his words, but because of how far he has come.
When he is crowned, his reunion with and acceptance of Arwen’s love means more. His moment of humility in front of the Hobbits make us all see how he HAD to be a Ranger to be the Great King he has become. Pride swells.
And we give credit to Aragorn’s growth to the leadership of Boromir in the first film.
We are also struck to the heart when Faramir announces himself as Boromir’s brother. THIS is the brother he spoke so highly of? Did Boromir that bias towards his own flesh and blood, to think THIS man, who captures hobbits and tortures Smeagle, is someone to be proud of? But by the end of Two Towers we are proud too.
At the end of Two Towers, Faramir has seen Frodo nearly fall to the Ring. Did he believe them when they said it drove Boromir mad? Of course not. We didn’t believe it. And we only had one movie with the guy. No one who knew him would buy that. But then there is Frodo, with a sword to Sam’s throat- “Don’t you recognize your Sam?” And there is a horrified recognition on Faramir’s face. Is it what he knows his Father may someday do with or without the Ring? Is it the recognition of how, even in the best of him, his brother could be like his Father? Is it a vision of himself in that position, his brother over him, because he came back with the Ring as their father asked? And does he admire Samwise that much more, because he handled the aftermath of that so much better than Faramir would in his place? (“Something worth fighting for” indeed- Boromir gave the speeches, not him. He must have LOVED this sunshiny little gardener)
When Sam tells him he is of the finest quality- it means more. They are passing on a message after all.
There may be another line from Frodo- “He spoke of you. He knew you would be a good commander. He was anxious to be home and congratulate you. I am sorry it is me here instead of him. He would be so proud.”
Maybe it is Pippin who mentions it. Maybe we get a flashback to another scene between the two of them. “You remind me of my brother- curious, adventurous, but educated, mannered. Much better mannered than I, as it has often been said!” Loud laughter. “The two of you would make for good friends, should you ever meet.”
“Don’t worry for him too much Merry. I have known one as curious as he. He just wanted to understand the world, as does your cousin. It has served him well- he out grew the recklessness of it, and there is no one I trust more.” “Your brother?” Laugh “How did you guess?”
I want us to love Faramir not only because he is good, but because Boromir loved him, and he loved Boromir. I want us to think of Boromir and what he would say to his brother every time he is on screen. I want us to see the love of Boromir direct all his actions.
The parallels of Eowyn and Faramir hint at thier future relationship more clearly in this version, because the connection between Boromir and Aragorn as different leaders of Gondor continues to shine through. Boromir’s brother could not defy his father’s wishes because he loved him and almost died for it. Aragorn’s student (she feels like a sister when he puts her to the side) does defy her father figure, again because she loves him, and is victorious in battle. Both thier fathers die in the battle. When we spot them together in the houses of healing it is not as much of a surprise. It feels right. They have much in common. Also… as Eowyn is seen to grown into a leader as Aragorn does, she also gets her supportive soft romantic partner.
I want Big Bro Boromir to be there in all but flesh throughout the entire thing. I want Boromir’s bracers on Aragorn’s arms to not only be the first thing we notice in Two Towers, but something to feel so right as to be obvious. I want “Then I shall die as one of them!” to feel like a chastisement to Legolas- “Boromir was human too, and he would want us here.” I want “Gondor will answer” to feel like a certainty, because Boromir would. I want Pippin’s rescue of Faramir to feel like a keeping of a promise to love Boromir’s brother as much as a rescue of a new friend. I want us to see the bracer on Aragorn’s arm as much as the sword in his hand when he says “I am Isildur’s Heir.” I want Theoden’s ride to Gondor to tie back not just to Aragorn, but further back to Boromir- a promise has been kept, and inspiration has come to bloom. I want us to see the white tree flags on the battle field of Mordor and feel like Boromir walked in after all. I want us to cry that Boromir is not there to greet Frodo as he wakes, as much as we cry for everyone else’s happy ending.
It’s just an image I had tonight. A beautiful image. Big Bro Jovial Boromir. Laughing down warmly at everyone from heaven. Making us proud to be of the race of men before Aragorn could.
Like I said- I love these movies. But ah, what could have been.

Nice Jewish Character Showdown 2023 -- Round One Eliminations
Well folks, the first round of the 2023 event has concluded, and 16 hopefuls have been taken out of the running for this year's crown. While we wait for the polls to go live for round two, let's take a second to debrief with those contenders, and break down what makes them such Nice Jewish Characters.
Match One Elimination: James Wilson, House MD Apologies to the House MD fans who kept trying to push the vote in your guy's favor, I honestly did not expect 9 to have such a high turnout (I'll elaborate on his inclusion another time). I'm going to make my way around to watching this show eventually I promise, in the meantime all I can reference to validate his Judaism is the textual reference to his Judaism in dialogue, the enthusiasm from my Jewish mutuals, and his entry on Jew or Not Jew (which, although considerably dated, was a popular site for me and my Hebrew School peers to browse between classes).
Match Two Elimination: Susan Ivanova, Babylon 5 While I haven't watched Babylon 5, I was pleasantly surprised to discover just how Jewish this Trek-adjacent show is, at least, in terms of canonicity. The second in command of the titular ship, Ivanova is textually Ashkenazi, Russian specifically. I can't speak on specifics since I, again, haven't watched the show, but it sounds like her relationship with her ancestry is tied significantly into her personal plot arc, as she reconnects with it over the seasons.
Match Three Elimination: Avigdor, Yentl Oh, Mandy Patinkin, the communal zeyde of the Jewish internet. While Avigdor may not be the Nicest of Jewish Characters, we gotta remember dramatic context! And yes, the absolute Gender of Yentl is no small factor in his popularity. I don't regret the picture I used, but I'm sure he would have had a bit of a swing vote if I used the picture of him wet and shirtless. Ah, well. Not like this is the first time Yentl's been snubbed for awards season.
Match Four Elimination: Samwise Gamgee, Lord of the Rings Yes, the books have the unfortunate way they've reflected on antisemitic stereotypes with the portrayal of the dwarves. But when you look at the hobbits, don't they feel like citizens of a shtetl? Aren't you filled with the warmth of shabbos when you think about a hobbit hole? And when thinking about Samwise's unending hope for good, even in the darkest parts of the journey, are you not reminded of something?
Match Five Elimination: George Costanza, Seinfeld Yeah I knew this one was going to infuriate some people. George Costanza, you textually Jewish in every way but literal prince, you are the perfect example of the transitive property of Jewish media (Jason Alexander has been quoted as saying that Costanza is Jewish because he's being played by a Jewish actor). Doing readings on invisible Jewish representation through the lens of Seinfeld (and the associated eras of television) is FASCINATING, btw.
Match Six Elimination: Schmidt, New Girl A very Jewish cast and crew brought this 2010's icon to our screens, and while the humor might not have always been the kindest to his Jewish identity, it's no surprise that he has such a continuing popularity within the former viewing audience. Someone get him a cookie, please?
Match Seven Elimination: Cher Horowitz, Clueless Written by a Jew, directed by a Jew, played by a Jew, Cher Horowitz is a great example of the transitive property of Jewish media. Plus, with a last name like Horowitz and a lawyer father, there are plenty of reasons to interpret the 90's darling as such. This Kveller article is full of fun facts about the Jewish background of the production!
Match Eight Elimination: Barbara Millicent Roberts, Barbie Watch Tiny Shoulders if you don't think Barbie belonged in this showdown. Barbara Millicent Roberts, you've been so popularized and Americanized that we've forgotten your roots, my darling! Ruth Handler, Barbie's creator, comes from a distinctly Jewish background, and her family's Ellis Island history is a good way of looking at the way Barbie's been assimilated. Sure she's got her Christmas-y ties, but most Christmas media comes from us anyways, so I think she can get a pass.
Match Nine Elimination: The Baudelaires, A Series of Unfortunate Events Okay, I'll admit it, I never read ASOUE. It freaked me out too much as a kid, and I've never circled back to it. But it's been on the back of my mind for a while, and now that I'm aware of just how Jewish the source material is, I'm this close to looking up the audiobooks on Libby. This is a step above the transitive property of Jewish media, this is textual. I guess it's characteristic for the Baudelaires to lose, but they can be comforted in how close the vote was.
Match Ten Elimination: Tommy Pickles, Rugrats So I grew up with public access television, and when I finally got cable it felt a bit like I'd missed the boat on Rugrats, age-group wise. But seeing the VHS cases on the library shelves of my synagogue, I always knew that show was a good case of Jewish representation. The Rugrats was revolutionary in their central Judaism in children's media: not just giving it to a side character for special episodes, but giving it to the main character and spending ample time discussing it. Consider putting the Passover or Hannukah specials into your holiday circulation.
Match Eleven Elimination: The Strilondes, Homestuck Somewhat surprising to me, but not really since they lost round one last time, the Strilondes have been taken out of the running. What makes Dave Strider and Rose Lalonde Jewish? Siblings through manipulation of genetic cloning, we witness a Very Jewish Wedding in the Snapchat Credits Sequence to Homestuck, where Rose and her wife, Kanaya, are in the center of a horah dance, lifted above the crowd in chairs (here's the timestamp). Besides that, Homestuck can be interpreted through a very Jewish lens (at least to me, someone who has a John Egbert statuette on their bookshelf). Plus, Homestuck has an answer to the Great Frog Debate (their answer is the biggest frog possible).
Match Twelve Elimination: Frankenstein('s Monster), Frankenstein Sorry Adam, I know losing twice in a row is hard, but to be fair you DID go up against werewolves last time. Why is Adam Frankenstein('s Monster) Jewish? He has a complicated relationship with the concept of a higher power (and in his case, a complicated familial relationship with his own creator). Plus, when I look at him, I see the most famous golem in pop culture. Jewish Frankenstein supremacy <3 (Oh, and while I'm thinking about it, a general plug for the book version of Monster High, published in 2010, which has a VERY Jew-coded interpretation of the titular monsters, imo.)
Match Thirteen Elimination: The Baker, Into The Woods Musical theater is inherently Jewish, so is it any surprise that a Sondheim character made it to the showdown? Into the Woods is a masterpiece, and when you look at it through a Jewish lens it gets even more so -- especially in the second act. The Baker is one of several characters in the show that really become aware of the constraints of their fairy tale lives, and choose to circumvent them. I'm going to restrain myself from discussing it more since the entire original cast recording is available to watch here, and it's one of my favorite musicals ever so I'd just get incoherent in further analysis if you haven't seen the source material.
Match Fourteen Elimination: Will Byers, Stranger Things I knew this was going to happen on the #CecilSweep website, but it still hurts a little bit to see Will Byers lose with such a sweep. Maybe it's the fact the Byers house has readily available Christmas lights. Why was he a contestant? Well, observing the transitive property of Jewish media (as discussed earlier), Noah Schnapp AND Winona Ryder's Judaism is more than enough to validate a Jewish reading of the Byers family -- in my mind, they're a mixed household, and kept celebrating Xmas after Lonnie left because the kids grew up with it (plus, they're in Indiana in the 80's, so...)
Match Fifteen Elimination: The Lorax, The Lorax Did you go to Hebrew School in the United States if you didn't watch or read The Lorax for Tu B'ishvat? I mentioned the VHS library at my synagogue earlier, and this tape was a standard on the wheelie box tv set-up, often used to distract the younger kids who would get bored at the High Holy Days services. He's just a lil' man who loves the trees, that's a mensch to me.
Match Sixteen Elimination: Worf, Star Trek: The Next Generation I feel like I have to apologize for putting the two Trek characters against each other up front. It's another place where my textual knowledge slips a bit, so when I found out just how Jewish Worf is I was pleasantly surprised. Trek has a very odd relationship with just how Jewish it has been since conception (thank you, Nimoy!) , so for Worf's parents to be all but declared to be Jewish is like. You could have just made them Jewish. Why didn't you make them Jewish (we know why).

I do not regret opening Pandora's box whatsoever, in fact I'll keep opening it over and over again like a gremlin child.
I'M SO GLAD THAT I FOUND SOMEONE WHO LIKES THIS SHIP AS MUCH AS I DO! I was beginning to feel lonely.
An overhaul? Is that another word for a rewrite? If so, can Grey Wing be less forgiving of Clear Sky? He was way too light on him, Jagged Peak should have gone off a lot more about how horrible he was when their mom came to visit. She didn't even find out half the shit he did before disowning him.
And can Grey Wing PLEASE live up to 5 years at least? I want him to be happy with his husband for a little while longer, 2 and a half years is so young. 😭
AND RIVER SAYS HE LOOKED A LOT OLDER WHEN HE WAS LIKE, WHAT, A YEAR AND A HALF? THIS POOR CAT NEEDS A BREAK!
The difference between Grey Wing and River Ripple's lives is insane actually, Grey Wing was going hungry for the sake of others while River was taking food from twolegs and meditating. Grey Wing watched half of his friends die in a battle caused by his paranoid, delusional brother, was almost killed by said brother and blames himself for the deaths. River's camp probably seemed like an unreachable dream.
TRIPPING OVER NOTHING AND CRASHING THROUGH GLASS SLIDING DOORS. HOPPING FROM PAW TO PAW LIKE MY TAIL'S ON FIRE !!!! slash positive words cannot describe the unfiltered joy i get learning that there are people out there who also love my warriors ideas/ships n stuff. stimming so hard i simply stop existing TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION!!! yes yes i do mean rewrite and let me tell you about anon (dotc spoilers beneath the break!) (and a lot of words. like almost too many get ready to read)
starting all the way from the top: i kept fluttering bird alive i don't like it when the erins kill off the babies esp in the first few chapters of knowing them for shock value (and yeah yeah it was motive for the settlers leaving but. the ancients were already starving. they didn't need a little kitten dying to tell them to get moving) bird actually becomes the next stoneteller (at a very young age but i'll tell you what i was inspired by in a second) and passes on her last message, the prophecy of the sun trail ok so first: this one cover of the hobbit's "i see fire." (the one by celtic woman literally so beautiful) with bird singing it. "o' misty eye of the mountain below / keep careful watch of my brother's souls / and should the sky be filled with fire and smoke / keep watching over durin's sons." IS LITERALLY BIRD TALKING ABOUT HER BROTHERS!!! real not false i can see her leaning into the pool in the cavern of pointed stones, begging the world to tell her if they're even alive and getting just blurry images and feelings in return secondly: i think quiet rain would see her kids be burdened with leadership moons before their time and mourn the death of their kithood, as all mothers do. and on the other end, jagged peak. seeing all of his siblings fly above their stations on wings of starlight, while he himself is grounded, literally and figuratively. that he eventually remembers that he's still himself, he's still important and powerful and needed. he is not a burden--even if he's not one of the golden children--and it shows in the fierce love he has for his campmates (btw side note. we need more canon warriors disability rep NOW. justice for my kids.) do note i forget if this happened in dotc originally but now it's tripled. sorry jagged i still love you
as you said, yes. grey wing and jagged peak are lot more harsh to clear sky (and i say this with the most love) (sky is an ASSHOLE.) (rewrite clear sky even more so. ohhhh let me tell you.) circling back around to i see fire. i always thought that fire was very important in warriors, right?? from the first book, we know that the colonies (thunder, at the very least) see fire as this violent, fickle, destructive force that kills off colonies, we see it in how everybody distrusts firepaw when he joins the clan, we see it rip through territories and drive out entire colonies, we see it in the visions warning the healers of impending danger, in the colors of the aura of the sun eclipsed by the dark eye of the moon, in the ripples in the lake stained red with blood at sunset. but in these blazes, there grows new life afterwards. it's the knowledge learned in the ashes, the guilts and mistakes laid raw and bare with no cover to hide it. it's the phoenix dusting itself off, ready to grow stronger on the next cycle. the fire cleanses, the fire takes away, it is a device of nature and a weapon to be feared. enough prose: what am i trying to prove? well. i always thought that one eye had a lot of unused potential as a villain (AND STAR FLOWER. holding my tongue i'll get to her in a second) and slate was a fuckin. waste of time! in the rewrite, one eye uses fire to get his way. the mountain cats have never had many encounters with it (not a lot of fires near a waterfall with 0 kindling opportunities) and that it's been reduced to nothing more than a scary kit-story so one eye can intimidate them with it because he "knows how to control it," and understands how to get it he burns away patches of the blazing star to make a point (star flower gets on his case for this because "YOU MOUSE-BRAINED SCAT OF A DAD. *WE* ALSO NEED THAT."), he burns his followers, and nearly convinces clear sky to burn away all of the territories so they can easily kill and drive out all those who oppose them and rebirth a united nation underneath one eye's watchful gaze. clear sky comes full circle and becomes the very monster he was running from. doing this leaves no prey and will starve all who live in the territory the plague of death follows sky wherever he roams! haha! his siblings absolutely tear into him for this AND all of the other warcrimes he committed. let this freak work to earn forgiveness (also this feeds into why the colonies fear fire) (because this little menace of a man nearly killed everyone including himself) (his practices were deliberately buried so nobody else would get the idea to do that) (OTHER THAN NIGHTHEART BUT THAT'S ANOTHER REWRITE FOR ANOTHER DAY!) even though this is a lot of fire, grey wing does not die to his asthma! i have asthma and IM still alive. why can't he? huh? huh erins? he lives on the moor but he constantly stops by the island to visit his husband <3 all of the kindle cats treat him like one of their own, lift their tails and bunt and purr at him (the apprentices always see him coming from the moor and race to be the first to tell river ripple) night always has to flick river with her tail and be like: RIVER. GO TALK TO GREY WING. YOU'VE BEEN STARING AT HIM FOR FIVE MINUTES?? she also gives them tips on how to care for the younger members of their camps, how to be patient with them ALSO ALSO he AND river raise turtle tail's kids as their own. river calls them young ones, pebbles, minnows (that last one is picked up from arc. bawling) oh and also thunder and lightning tail are also in love. mic drop (my reasoning? they grew up together, they are so best friends to lovers) (and lightning tail gets so obviously jealous of star flower being with thunder it's hilarious) ONCE AGAIN THIS IS GETTING SUPER LONG BUT I WILL GO ON IN ANOTHER POST!!! i have many thoughts in my brain :3

Giraffe's Eye View | Princess Mononoke (1997) REVIEW
Wondering why the sudden case of Deja Vu? It's because this was posted as one long review called 'BINGE WEEK', but I've decided to shorten it for the sake of your sanity and mine. If you're interested in my previous review, click here for my thoughts on Rankin and Bass's take on The Hobbit! For now though, onwards to a grand adventure!
Tumblr media
Let it be known throughout the land that I am not a weeb. Yes folks, surprisingly there are people out there who's lives don't revolve around anime. Nothing against the artform as a whole, it's just never been my cup of jade tea. You'd think me being born in the 90s would mean I'm totally obsessed with the medium, considering all the shows that mate it Stateside. You'd also think Pokémon would've been taken off the air by now, yet here we are. That show never kept my interest despite Nintendo's marketing making it appear everywhere, DragonBall seemed far too gratuitous both in terms of its action and sex appeal, and Sailor Moon came out at a time when the difference between boys and girls were distinguished by toy commercials. Ninja Turtles and Spider-Man were for dudes, Barbie and Sailor Moon were for not. Obviously now I know that's a load of bull, especially given my love of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, but little Clark was a lot dumber back then. Still, even now I'm reluctant to try out any new animes, not that this stops my pals from trying. The recommendations they gave me were a mixed bag to say the least. Tokyo Godfathers was as beautiful as it was bittersweet, One Punch Man that used the tropes of three separate generes to its advantage, and Nagatoro was cute despite how awful its titular character could be at times. On the other hand the finale to Cowboy Bebop pissed me of and my first exposure to Cardcaptor Sakura was during the middle of its second season, my anger rising due to how confused I was. With all that said, my taste in anime outside of Avatar or RWBY has expanded, now including films produced by Studio Ghibli. Last year I watched Kiki's Delivery Service for the first time and thought it was pretty decent, so what did I end up thinking of Princess Mononoke (1977)?
For starters, I was wondering why it's called that when she's not actually the protagonist. Not to say she isn't a pivotable part of the plot, but most of our time is spent on Prince Ashitaka, voiced here by Billy Crudup. For anybody about to complain how I'm a filthy dub-lover, two things: 1) I am just learning how to speak Japanese and I am a painfully slow learner. 2) This is an animated movie, not a manga. If I wanted to read, I'll bust out one of the Komi books lining up my shelves. All I wanna do is watch the movie without having to pay attention to whatever it says on the bottom. Nothing against anybody who prefers the dub, this is just my preference. Besides, the American cast for most Ghibli films are incredible, this picture being no exception. We have Billy Bob Thorton from Bad Santa, John DiMaggio taking a break from trying to defeat Kim Possible, and Minnie freak'n Driver as Iron Town's leading lady Lady Eboshi. As someone who thinks Tarzan is one of Disney's best movies, it was a pleasure hearing Jane in this movie.
Wait, wasn't I talking about the plot? Like I was saying, Ashitaka is cursed by a demonic boar, said curse being a demonic manifestation of vengeance and hatred. Think if all the nastiness of Twitter became a collective of demon worms that oddly resembled Venom. It's a pretty fitting description too, considering the symbiote's whole ordeal is enhancing the darker side of ourselves. It's why I still like Spider-Man 3, the symbiote in that movie bringing out the worst of Peter Parker just as much as this demonic curse brings the worst out in everybody. Aunt May was right when she said revenge is like a poison, no better example of this being this picture.
The curse is slowly killing Ashitaka as he comes across two factions also consumed by these darker emotions. On one side is the aforementioned Iron Town, a civilization made of metal that sits on some of the remains of the forest. While the populous seems pleasant enough, Lady Eboshi is obsessed with expansion, making the very sound point that cities have to grow or folks will die. On the other hand we have those living in the forest, such as the apes, boars, wolves, and the titular princess San (Claire Danes), all of whom hate the humans for destroying their home. Basically this movie is the anime answer to The Lorax, a story I have always loved. Much like Dr. Seuss's tale of Truffula Trees, progress and environmentalism are never depicted as purely right or wrong. Both bring up good points while also showing the flaw of each position. Any story that depicts one side as purely in the right or wrong is pure garbage!
Tumblr media
ESPECIALLY THAT ONE!
Unlike Illumination's idiotic butchering of a beloved classic, I always respect pro-nature stories that find this balance. After all, people gotta live somewhere and so do animals, right?
If the brilliant writing wasn't already a win, the movie has amazing animation, though really that's to be expecting from Studio Ghibli. Granted, they achieve this level of perfection from the director working his animators like dogs, but let's not open up that can of demonic worms. Regardless of how the sausage was made, it's so spam good sausage. Heck, this movie marked the first example of CGI being implemented into anime and you can hardly tell! If I had any complaints about this movie, it'd be the surprising amount of gore in this movie. Granted it never gets to RoboCop or Predator levels of exteme, but boy did I begin to question this film's PG-13 rating when Ashitaka managed to decapitate a person with an arrow! Green Arrow wishes he could be that lethal! Also, the fact that our two protagonists don't end up as a couple as the end was kinduv' a bummer to a hopeless romantic like that, but really that's small potatoes in the grand scheme of things. When all's said and done, one can easily see why this is considered one of Ghibli's finest features. Do yourself a favor and check this out if you haven't already, preferably before you're cursed by demons.
Then again, maybe what they needed was a goddess to banish all the demons. Oh! I can think of one...

Lord of the Ring: Rings of Power spoilers ahead, reading on your own risk:
So I just watched the first two episodes of the show and I am really enjoying it so far. So I was looking on Tumblr, tiktok and youtube for some reviews and some opinions because I wanted to know how other people think about the show. And I was really surprised to see that SOOOOO MANY PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE IT? like yes taste is subjective and stuff but some of those people use weird ass, relatively small things to justify their negative opinions. And in this post essay (because its longer than I thought) I want to explain a few of them and try to make sense out of this. And I also gonna leave my opinions here, just so u know.
(Quick note before this, I haven't read any ot the LotR books nor the hobbit nor any other book but i do get my needed information, just so u know)
Many people complain about how mainly Galadriel and Elrond aren't like the characters we know from LotR. And obviously their characters are different. I don't know how many years are between RoP and LotR but I guess a lot. And of course they wised up in those years. Especially after the upcoming war in the new serie (I assume there will be a war lol). No one, not even elves, are born wise. It needs time and experiences to gain the wisdom that Elrond and Galadriel have in LotR. And since they seem relatively young in RoP (I mean for elves yk) I think that they just aren't as wise as in LotR and that they simply CAN'T be like in LotR. Besides if they would be exactly the same they would be NO room for character development and that would make their characters seem flat which would be ungracious for those two amazing characters!
Young Elrond is kinda hot lol idk love him. I totally understand why he is described as "kind as the sun". Like look at the sweet little puppy on screen. Love him and I will protect him with my life and I will block everyone how disagrees. Because him being an absolute perfect little bunny is a fact and not an opinion!!! <3<3<3 (*3*)
The hair of the elves! Yes, I do that one. First of all I dont care about that hair. But apparently many people out there do so let's fucking go. Yes, the hair is short and I guess that Tolkien originally described them with long hair but idk. But like even elves are just a folk and after traveling from the valinor (?) to middle earth they got influenced from the looks of other folks. And I strongly believe that even elves do have changing beauty standards. I mean yes, we aren't elves but look at how the standards changes from 100 years back till now. And I think that elves also have changes in their standards but they simply "last" longer because they have way longer to live than any other species. And that's also why we just see longhaired elves in the hobbit and LotR.. change my mind
The costumes. Beside the fact that I think fashions standards change like beauty standards, the costume designers from RoP cant just steal/copy the exact costume of LotR. And this is because the costume designers of lotr, regardless of whether the rights belong to the film studio or not, still have the intellectual property. They sit down and did all the work. Also it would not be original if you just copy and paste it. It would be boring and flat. But nevertheless it must be said that the quality of the costumes could have been better. So at least what you see.
Durin IV (i guess) is amazing! I love him and the relationship he has with Elrond. He is amazing and this makes me love dwarves even more.
Disa (is this how u write it) is also amazing!! Except that we dont get so see any female dwarves with beards (so far) disa is everything. How she stands her ground against her husband and just how loving they are with each other. And I also believe that disa is a great example for good character work. Because one of my biggest fears was it that they create a male dwarf character and just let a female actor play it. But this is not what they did. They somehow gave it female traits (I'm not saying traits have a gender atypical speaking yk?). I just love her and the character work.
The storyline. I heard from many people the the storyline isn't canon and that this is like a fanfiction kinda thing. But honestly who cares?! Because this is a fucking fantasy book/movie series/ show. EVERYTHING in it is fictional and not real. It's just a good show so stop to search reasons to hate it.
I love the hobbit girl?! I forgot her name but she is amazing love her wow. She is such a cutie <3 (*3*)
I also love the black representation in the show. I mean I'm not black but I still love it. It shows the growth of the film studios. I mean back in the days it wasn't normal for black people to be represented in shows/ movies especially not as main characters or really important side characters yk. And yes again this is not what we used to when it comes to LotR BUT this just shows that not only new fandoms stick with the time but also "older" fandoms can change to be more inclusive.
That definitely wasn't all that I could say about the show but that were the most important points for me. But if u wanna know some more about my point of view, just ask. Thank you for reading this. Besides this is just my opinion and if u disagree that fine (except point 2, I will die on that hill). I love u all an I hope u have a marvelous day *kissies*

MASTERLIST

You tore your gaze off of the television before you turned to look at Bucky. His blue eyed stare was trained on you, intense and unwavering. Sometimes it had managed to unnerve you, but you’d gotten used to it over the year you’d known him. He was more than just silent...he was calculating, but it never felt wrong. Waving your hand in front of his face you made a small sound to get his attention.
“Bucky?” you whispered his name softly and that seemed to snap him back into attention as he opened and closed his mouth a few times. Even in the dim lighting of the room you could see that a warm flush of red had crept up in his cheeks, “everything alright?”
“Y-yeah,” he shook his head, more at himself than anything else, a self-annoyed look crossing his features, “spaced out for a minute. What were you saying?”
“I wasn’t saying anything,” you couldn’t help but laugh at him, watching his features soften when he realized you weren’t going to chastise him for zoning out, “I for one was watching the movie, which is more than I can say for you - you should love the Hobbit if you actually read the book when it first came out. And these movies are actually good. Pay attention, Bucky!”
You grabbed one of the pillows off of your couch and lobbed it at his head; but he was quicker, reflexes still sharp and honed after all this time. The corners of his mouth pulled into a smirk as he held the pillow before determining whether or not to throw it back at you. Immediately sensing what he was doing, you shook your head and jumped up, ducking behind the couch.
“What’s wrong, sweetheart, why are you hiding?” you could practically hear the smirk in his voice as you peeked up at him. The nickname rolled easily off his tongue as it caused a shudder to run down your spine. You knew it meant nothing, that it was just something he tended to call people; it was definitely just a thing. It was nothing particularly about you or targeted at you but you couldn’t help but pause. You knew that you wouldn’t have minded if he called you that intentionally. But that could never, ever happen. This was Bucky after all and you were just...you.
“I know your game, Barnes,” you grinned at him, deciding to let the nickname slide, “I’ll call it a truce and we can go to your favorite place to get some dinner. I’ll pay! I’m waving my proverbial white flag.”
“Now there’s an offer I can’t refuse,” he set the pillow back down on the couch as he stood up and raised his hands in surrender. Slowly you raised to your full height, but kept a wary eye on your best friend, “I keep my promises, you know that.”
“Fine,” you agreed as you grinned at him. Bucky’s breath hitched in his throat as he looked you over and he felt his knees go weak momentarily. He could stare at your smile for hours, “get your jacket and let’s go old man.”
He scoffed in jest as you grabbed your shoulders and jacket off the coat rock and motioned for him to follow, “I’m not that old-”
“106? Isn’t that old?” you raised an eyebrow, barely able to contain your giggles as he rolled his eyes dramatically, “just kidding, Bucky. You know I just love teasing you.”
“I am in my 30s,..technically, thank you very much,” he insisted as he slipped on his shoes and you handed him the leather jacket, “don’t push your luck, kid.”
“See,” you grabbed the keys and he opened the door, ushering you out with a hand on the small of your back, “I swear Bucky Barnes, you’ve been an old man since you were a kid. Now let’s go! There’s pancakes with my name on them waiting.”
»»————- ♡ ————-««
Dinner with Bucky was easy...then again, everything with Bucky was easy. Every time you were with him, things just felt natural and normal, conversation and everything flowed freely. You’d met Bucky completely by chance, running into him, quite literally, on the street as you walked out of your favorite coffee shop and proceeded to spill coffee over both of you. He’d been apologetic, claiming it was his fault, but you’d been insistent that it was yours. One thing had led to another and soon enough you became inseparable friends.
Much to his surprise, and delight, you’d never treated Bucky as anything but...Bucky. That’s how you’d met him and that’s all he was to you. Bucky. Of course, he was much more than a friend, at least in your mind, but you weren’t about to divulge that little piece of information. At least not yet. Maybe one day...or not. Probably not. No. You weren’t about to make a fool out of yourself and confess your feelings for a man that saw you as nothing but a friend.
Bucky, always alert and cunning, had noticed you’d become quiet throughout dinner as you both ate in silence. Normally he wouldn’t question it, but he knew your tells and could easily read you by this point and knew that something was up.
“What?” he gently nudged your foot with his and you snapped back into attention as you looked at him, “you’re awfully deep in thought for someone that just wanted some pancakes.”
“It’s nothing,” you insisted nervously, swallowing your bite down and clearing your throat, “just...tired?”
“Mhmm,” he wasn’t going to push you, know you’d come around eventually, “whatever you say, sweetheart.”
There it was again, and you felt a warmth flush over your face as you focused your attention on the syrupy mess on your plate. It was silent for a few more minutes before you noticed a few women sitting at the diner’s counter, giggling among themselves as they cast longing glances at Bucky. Something in your stomach twisted and your heart constricted. Of course they were looking at him, women often did. And you couldn’t blame them; Bucky was handsome in almost every way, and you yearned after him as well. But unlike most other people, you weren’t about to be so obvious about it.
“Looks like you have a little fanclub,” you murmured softly under your breath as you lightly motioned towards them women. Bucky slyly followed your gaze and studied the newcomers and huffed in annoyance. He abhorred any sort of extra attention, especially when it came from people that only liked him because of his looks. Besides that, it often didn’t last terribly long; usually people realized who he was - used to be - and that scared them right off.
“They’ll leave soon enough,” he shrugged them off before turning his attention back to you, “besides, I-I’m not interested. It’s not like it used to be…”
“Back when?” you quickly snorted in amusement as he jokingly glared at you, “back in your day? I bet you had them all over you then too.”
“Well, it certainly was easier,” he admitted as he played with the straw in his almost empty milkshake, “nowadays people are harder to read. They all either want one thing, or they just stick around until they find someone else. It’s not worth it...and honestly, now one has caught my eye.”
“No one?” you asked as you pushed your last bite around the plate, letting the fluffy pancake soak up the syrup, “I find that hard to believe, even for you, Buck. Everyone has someone they’re interested in.”
“Huh,” he mused as drained the last of the milkshake, “well then, is there someone that has captured your interest?”
“I...no, not really,” you lied, hoping he wouldn’t pick up on the lie. Instead he immediately made a sound of small disbelief; you should haven’t even bothered to try and lie to him. He could see right through you, “there’s nobody.”
“I thought you said everyone has someone that they’re interested in?” oh yeah, he definitely wasn’t going to let this go at all.
“Except me.”
“I find that doubtful.”
“What about you then, Bucky Barnes?” you decided to deflect by throwing the question right back at him, “has anyone captured your interest?”
Bucky paused for a moment, tongue darting out to wet his lips as he mulled over his next words carefully, “yes. There is someone.”
“O-oh,” you stammered as his gaze shifted back to you, blue eyes keenly studied your features, “you gonna tell me who it is?”
“Well,” he started slowly, tapping his fingers on the table as he leaned towards, "there is someone, but I don't know if she knows or thinks of me as more than a friend, but god, I hope she does. She's been my friend for a while now and I kind of want to ask her on a date, a proper date, but don't quite know how."
"Do you...do you think she could feel the same about you?" butterflies erupted in your stomach as you tried to calm the rapid beating of your heart. Surely he couldn't mean you. But then...why was a light flush of pink in his cheeks? Why was he watching you so intently?
"I don't know," he confessed with a light shrug as he sat back in the booth, an arm extended over the back, the picture of ease, "sometimes I think she might, but I don't want to think she does and mess anything up. I'd rather keep her as a friend than lose her."
"I guess you won't know unless you ask her…" you were positive that he could hear your heart beating rapidly, "you never know until you try. I have a feeling she won't turn you down if you ask...just a hunch…"
"Hmm…" a smile, dazzling and brilliant, grazed his features, "well then sweet-"
"Excuse me," one of the girls from the counter had approached your table and was leaning into Bucky, with her back to you. She was twirling her hair around her finger as she offered him her most dazzling smile. She was definitely beautiful and you really had nothing to base your annoyance off of, but she rubbed you the wrong way, "I was just wondering if you'd-"
"Hi, excuse me?" you couldn't help yourself as you gently tapped her arm. Bucky raised an eyebrow as she gave her a surprised look on her face, "I don't want to interrupt but he's mine. And if you don't mind...we're on a date."
"O-oh," her eyes widened as she looked between you and Bucky, who was currently sporting the most shit eating grin, "I didn't know. Sorry…"
She scurried back to her friends as you looked back down at your plate. Bucky cleared his throat as he leaned in, hardly believing what had happened. You could feel his curious blue eyes on you, searing and questioning.
"So she feels the same way or she's a good liar," he said softly as you chanced a glance, biting on your lip, "I'm yours, huh?"
"Shut up," you groaned, "it was to get her away from you, so you're welcome."
"Mhmm…" god that smile made you want to melt.
"Bucky!"
"Thank you," he bowed his head slightly, "what are you doing tomorrow night?"
"Nothing...why?"
"Can I take you on a date?" he asked as you looked at him in surprise, wide doe eyes meeting his, "a proper date?"
"I...yeah, Bucky. I'd like that a lot," you agreed softly, "see...I told you she won't turn you down."
"Guess you were right," he was causal, but inside his heart was fit to burst as he reached across the table and gently put his hand on top of yours, "I'm already hers, but she's my girl too."
Yeah. You could definitely get used to that.

Online Dating
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Summary: Sam sets Bucky up for a dating app, and he meets Y/N.
Word Count: 1,168
Tumblr media
“This is ridiculous Sam, why are you making me do this?”
Sam set Bucky up for online dating. Bucky wasn’t too pleased. “Right, picture time.” Sam picks up Bucky’s phone and starts snapping some photos of him. “Go stand over there.” Bucky mumbles a ‘for god’s sake’ under his breath and moves by the window where Sam has pointed. He adds them to Bucky’s profile and enters a few questions for him. “What’s your favourite book?” Sam asks. “The Hobbit.” Sam gives him a puzzled look. “How the hell do you know the Hobbit?”
“I read it in 1937. When it first came out.” He just sighs and adds it into the profile. “We need to add some of your interests.” Bucky pauses, he only knows his old interests, from before he was frozen. He wasn’t up to date with any new things yet, he hadn’t found the time. “We’ll just put some generic stuff.” Sam types on his phone quickly, and puts it down on the table. “Done.”
Bucky picks up the phone, scanning his new profile. “38?” He questions. “Well, we can’t put your real age, can we?”
Bucky Barnes.
38.
Into working out, drinking, watching movies, dancing, reading.
Favourite book? The Hobbit.
Favourite film? The Hobbit.
“But I’ve never seen the film,” Sam rolls his eyes. “Well you can watch it tonight then, can’t you.”
Night owl or morning person? Night owl.
Old-fashioned or young at heart? Definitely old-fashioned.
Ideal date? Movie and drinks.
“I guess that’ll do. Ahh, Sam, it’s making a noise, what did I do?” He shakes his head and snatches the phone from Bucky’s hands. “It means you have a match.” Sam clicks a few buttons and shows Bucky. “See, she matched with you. It means she’s interested. Her name is Y/N. Do you want to message her?” Bucky nods his head. “How do I do that? Phone message Y/N!” He shouts directly at the phone. “Oh my god, no.”
Sam spends the rest of the afternoon teaching Bucky how to use dating app, and eventually all the other apps on his phone. “Is this why you don’t answer my texts? Because you don’t know how to?” Sam laughs slightly. “I am 106 years old, Wilson!”
Once Sam has taught Bucky how to work his phone and left Bucky to his own devices, the app makes another noise. Now knowing what this means, he opens it up to see he has a message.
Hey there, I must say you look so familiar! - Y/N
Hello, it’s lovely to meet you, Y/N. I’m not sure why, guess I just have one of those faces. - Bucky
You must! It is a lovely face nonetheless. - Y/N
Why thank you, doll face. Yours is just as lovely, if not more. - Bucky
Oh, aren’t you a little flirt Bucky! - Y/N
They spoke all evening. They ended up having a lot more in common than Bucky had expected. Y/N even proposed the ideas of going out to drinks later on in the week, Bucky thought it was a fabulous idea. They planned to meet on Friday, at 8pm at a bar close to both of their places.
“So, tonight, huh?” Sam teased, Bucky had told him all his updates, well, more like Sam forced him to tell him all his updates. “Yes. I’ve already planned what I’m going to wear, I feel like a 14 year old school girl with a crush.” Sam laughs and pats him on the back. “I’m not surprised, she’s gorgeous and it’s been a hell of a long time since you’ve been on a date.”  These words are such a relief to Bucky. “She’s probably just as nervous as you.”
“NATASHA! Where is my black dress?” Y/N screams, rummaging through a pile of clothes on the floor. “You have about 20 black dresses, Y/N. Be more specific.” Natasha yells back from another room. “The one with the mesh sleeves! I need it for my date tonight!” No luck in the growing pile, she heads to her roommate’s closet and starts searching. “There it is, you little thief!” Natasha hides her laughter. “Oops.”
When Y/N finishes getting ready, it’s 7:15pm. She’s way too early to leave yet, the bar was only a 10 minute walk. Natasha pours herself and her roommate a drink and the two of them sit at their table. “Why won’t you tell me who you’re going on a date with?” Nat questions, sipping her beverage. “Because you’ll search them up, and do a background check like you always do, and then tell me not to go, But I really like this one, I wanna work him out on my own thank you.” Y/N sticks her tongue out sarcastically and takes a gulp of her drink. “Fine. But if you’re not back by the morning, I’m organising a search team for your body.” Rolling her eyes, Y/N replies. “Oh you are so dramatic, Nat. He’s a really nice guy.”
Bucky arrives first, just before 8pm, and is seated at a table on the balcony upstairs. He sets down his jacket, and the bunch of flowers he brought for Y/N and sits down. He orders two drinks, and waits patiently for her to arrive. He can’t stop his leg from bouncing up and down. His phone buzzes, it’s Sam. ‘You got this, Soldier!’
“Hi, I’m meeting someone,” Y/N tells the hostess, and is escorted upstairs. Bucky stands when he see’s her, a wide smile appearing on his face. The hostess helps her remove her coat as she goes into hug Bucky. “Hey, it’s so great to see you in person!” She smiles, and goes to sit down. Bucky tucks her chair in for her and then sits down himself. “I just ordered us two random drinks, I have no idea what’s in them,” He says shyly as the waiter brings over two fruity looking cocktails. “Looks delicious!”
“Nice selection, Mr Barnes,” Y/N says, nodding her head after tasting the cocktail. “Damn, you’re right, I did well with these.” Bucky replies after tasting his. She giggles at his comment. They chat about anything and everything. It was as though they’d known each other for years. Eventually, it’s time for them to head off. Bucky insists on walking Y/N home.
“You didn’t have to,” Y/N says, arriving at her place, standing outside the door. “I wanted to, Y/N.” Bucky replies, joining her on her doorstep. “I had a really lovely time tonight, I would adore seeing you again, angel.” Y/N nods her head in agreement. Bucky leans down, as Y/N leans up, their lips meeting in the middle. They’re both so caught up in the kiss they don’t even hear the door open.
“Barnes?!” Nat exclaims as she opens the door. “Romanoff?! What are you doing at Y/N’s house?!” Y/N furrows her brow, deep in thought. “What are you doing kissing my roommate more like?!”
“Ohh, I’ve seen you around Nat’s work. That’s why I thought you looked familiar.”

My take on the Amazon RoP series
I wanted to like this show. I really did, but there’s just some things that aren’t worth supporting after a certain point. First? The VF article. They straight up call fans “trolls” for wanting a faithful adaptation. That is one of the dumbest business angles you can do with well beloved huge things like Hobbit/LotR/Silm. There’s millions of people all around the world of all walks of life who love this, and you go and call them “trolls”? Yeah. Not good. Yes, there’s a certain percentage (although small) that have an issue with race. Most of the fans however do NOT. No. We want to know why a dwarven female has thin, wispy sideburns instead of a glorious beard. We want to know why most, if not all the male elves, have short, modern hairdos. They can’t even do canon characters right. Galadriel with a sword and armor? This is a downgrade while trying to make her “badass”. She was so powerful, she could go on the battlefield without all that. Also the eight-point star on her armor? I can see why people are asking “Why is she wearing a Feanorian star??” I’m honestly just as concerned. Elrond’s “politically ambitious“? Excuse me? And with that hairdo? I am very afraid they’re going to turn him into Trump or something close enough. Then there’s the elf identified as Finrod recently. Please no. That elf was so freaking awesome, he challenged Sauron to a singing match. If you’ve read the books, or have done a quick google search (which is more research then the people at Amazon have done), you’ll see why people are freaking exploding at this. “But why are people so fussy about elf hair?” Simple. It made them stand out in the PJ films from the men. Give them short, modern haircuts, and it’s hard to tell them apart from humans. Also when you have to lift an elf’s hair to see if they have pointy ears or not (as seen in the trailer), you’re doing elves (especially Galadriel) wrong. She should be noticeable from a long distance away. Not up close.  ”But why are people so fussy about a female dwarf having a beard?” Again, simple. Right in the books, it basically says that dwarves of both genders have facial hair from the time of birth. And since this is supposed to be a princess, I expect her to have a better beard then the average dwarf, with metal, jewels, and other fine riches all braided in. Not this poor excuse of facial hair (where you have to alter the picture just to see that it’s there to begin with). And the family OCs...Why the hell does Isildur suddenly have a sister? What purpose could she possibly serve? Why does Galadriel suddenly have another brother named Adar (elvish for “Father” by the way)? Something tells me they’re not going to explain any of this and bitch the instant those of use who even know a tiny bit of the lore ask for their reasons. Just watch. They’re going do double down calling everyone “trolls” and other insults just because we want to know WHY. The way I see it, this is a dumpster fire that will continue to burn.

fave 10 characters from any media and why u like them?
10. Ori from The Hobbit. He's a fun lil guy and he was my main blorbo in that fandom and I just liked him a lot for his pointless bravery and how very adorable he was
9. Tiffany Aching from the Discworld. Many reasons, but mostly it's a specific part of the first book that has stuck with me through the years. I don't have the exact quote, but something about her opponent calling her selfish like it's the worst thing she could be, and a part of her just owning it like. Yes, she's selfish. And she's still going to protect the people around her, because those are her people. And it just... I just love that moment.
8. Polgara from The Belgariad (and associated books). Role model lady!! But more seriously, I loved how complex she was, and how she was allowed to be clever and powerful and kind, but also bitchy and petty, and it wasn't... the narrative didn't judge or punish her for it? I don't enjoy David and Leigh Eddings books as much as I did as a teenager, but damn, the characters in it were really cool and Polgara most of all
7. Rapunzel from Tangled. To make it short, I got the dvd the year I went no-contact with my mom, and I watched it dozens of time, and it was very therapeutic.
6.Katniss Everdeen, but specifically from the book as I wasn't too impressed with the films. She's just a fascinating character, with so much rage and anger (all justified!!) and it's really cool to see her grow to understand that her world is even more fucked up than she thought, and trying to figure out how to deal with it when everyone is trying to manipulate her one way or another.
5. Lan Xichen. I love his mix of gentle politeness and determination. He is a good man whose kindness is treated as a fault to be taken advantage of by his best friend. Again and again he is confronted with difficult choices (leaving or staying when his sects burns, what to do with lwj when he sides with wwx, what to do with jgy when his guilt is revealed) and he very sincerely tries his best with the information he has. I love him. Fuck but I love him. He is so good. He is so very good, and he tries so damn hard to be fair, and I love him.
4. Granny Weatherwax from the Discworld. She is a BITCH and we LOVE HER. Just. Damn, but there's something so reassuring about her existing as a character? Like. Yeah, she's not very nice. But she tries her best to be good, even when it's not easy, even when it's not pleasant.
3. Nie Huaisang. Whaaaaaat, he is only number three? what fraud is this?? But yeah, I love him a lot, and I think he's just cool. I have no idea who he is in canon. We know who he was, and who he appears to be, but there's pretty much no clues as to the person he really is. How much of the image he presents is real, how much is fake, and does it even matter, does he even know himself what's real or not? I love a character open to interpretation!
2. Bertha Mason (from Jane Eyre). I think she's just a fascinating character, shrouded in mysteries. She is the greatest of evils, and she is the greatest of victims. She is a murdering foul bitch, and she is a woman whose life was controlled by the men around her. There are so, so many ways to read her character, so many possible interpretations! It makes it really fun to write fanfics about her, and to read about people's opinions of her. Which... is kind of a theme here, uh?
Link from any of the main games except Skyward Sword. Listen I know he's usually got the personality of a paperclip, but also he's cool and brave and funny, and I've spent countless hours of my youth (...and of my adult years too...) playing Zelda games, and I started writing and drawing out of love for the franchise, and I just think he's a neat character bc you can project whatever you want upon him

Hi! Can a request an aragorn x reader one where everyone of the fellowship knows he loves her and she just doesn't realise? Fluff and maybe a kiss in the end? Thank you
Tumblr media
Aragorn was by no means stupid. He was quite intelligent really. However, the second you entered the picture the man became a complete moron. He’d trip over his own feet, he’d walk smack into wall, half of the time he couldn’t carry a full conversation with you because he’d literally forget how to speak. Everyone could see it. Everyone but you apparently. Aragorn was in love. He had known you for a number of years, seeing you as the occasional hunting partner seeing as you worked for Barliman in the Prancing Pony.
Aragorn first saw you walking in with a dead deer strapped to your back and actually thought you to be a man at first before you removed your hood. Then he saw your face. Your e/c eyes met his and it was game over. The man spoke with you and discovered that you originally hailed from Rohan but moved after a sickness swept over the land. Aragorn found out quite a bit actually. You were a hunter who frequently supplied food to the inn, you played the lute (very well) and you loved to be around the bar. But more importantly, you loved adventure. According to you, without adventure, many a song would not exist, which by all rites was true. You had a bit of a adventurous soul that constantly wanted to run through fields, so when Aragorn went on a task to help a group of hobbits leave to Rivendell, you naturally decided to leave with them.
Even Merry and Pippin could see the love in Aragorn’s eyes when he looked at you. It was hard not to notice such love. Which is what they had trouble grasping. How were you not noticing it?
The fellowship was formed, you joining them after Aragorn announced that he’d go with them. Was he thrilled to take you on a potentially deadly mission? No. Was he happy that you were going to be right next to him for a long time? Yes. Arwen said that he was acting like a child for not voicing his emotions towards you though. She claimed that if he didn’t speak up soon she’d have to do it for him. Well, this led to Aragorn being irrationally paranoid about leaving you alone with Arwen. Anyone else? sure. But Arwen was a big NO.
You stood in the halls, looking at Isildur’s sword with Boromir. “It’s impressive even if it is broken.” you pointed out. “Indeed." Boromir agreed. You stared at it with this almost sad look. "Do you suppose there is a true heir amongst us?" Boromir asked. You nodded. "Aragorn bares the ring and shares Isildur's blood." you stated. This was a fact he told you after four years of knowing him. He told you after a hunting trip, you had asked why he was a ranger for Gondor. He didn't tell you at first but you asked him why he went by another name. That, he answered. He showed you the ring, the books from Rivendell about his lineage. How he technically switched his name twice and didn't know of his true lineage until he was older. You were shocked of course. You had heard stories of your people hoping to accidentally stumble across an heir. You had done it without meaning to.
Boromir sighed. "You believe this to be true?" Boromir asked. "Did Lord Elrond, a man who once stood with Isildur, object when Legolas claimed this?" you asked. Silence fell over Boromir. Shit, you were right. If Elrond didn't object then it had to have been true. "Do you suppose he'd be a good king?" Boromir asked. "Yes." you nodded. "How do you figure?" He asked. "I've seen Aragorn with people. He understands their struggles, he grasps why people need something. He has resolved many problems, all while dealing with his own. " you stated. Boromir looked at you once more. "...You feel strongly for him?" Boromir asked. You stuttered. "I-I never said-" " you didn't have to, it's rather obvious." Boromir said. You sighed, looking down. "Please don't say anything." You muttered. "Why not voice your feelings?" Boromir asked. You sighed. "I don't want to make him uncomfortable." You muttered.
Boromir blinked. "You mean you do not notice it?" He asked. "Notice what?" you asked. "Notice what?" You asked. He chuckled. "What!?" you asked again. "It is not for me to tell you." He said. "My lord please! I must know now, you treat me as if I was a child!" you whined. He sighed and turned to you. "You want an honest answer?" he asked. "Please." you nodded. "With the way he looks at you, there is a large chance he reciprocates your feelings." He said.
And so you were driven mad by this statement, observing Aragorn's actions to you at a microscopic level. He was touchier with you, often patting your shoulder or head when you did something. He stuck closer to you and often stayed up with you if you could not sleep. Perhaps Boromir wasn't insane for assuming something. Aragorn did in fact have some sort of affinity for you, however you weren't sure in what manner. Was it romantic? Platonic? Brotherly? What was this?'
You sat on a rock, reading a map. Or at least trying to... Your focus was all over the place. You sighed, running your fingers through your hair. You heard someone sit next to you and saw Aragorn. "Trouble with the map?" He asked. You jumped at the sound of his voice. "Oh uhm... I wanted to see if Gimli was right about us taking the path through Moria... He isn't wrong. It would be quicker but for some reason Gandalf seems adamantly against it." you muttered. Aragorn nodded. "There is much danger within those walls of Moria. You seemed close with Arwen, I am surprised she didn't speak with you about it." He muttered. You looked over. "Her mother once took that path." He told you. You looked back at the map. "she mentioned this story, she never mentioned the path that was taken." you muttered. Aragorn nodded. "Are you... close with Lady Arwen?" you asked. "She is my friend. Why?" He asked. "A friend? Nothing more?" you asked. He rose a brow. "Why the sudden curiosity?" he asked. A blush came over your cheeks and he leaned forward, observing the expression on your face.
To hide the embarrassment you raised up the map, blocking his view of your face. He pulled the map down and rose a brow. "Y/n, what's going on?" He asked. You wanted to speak but nothing came out. "Aragorn, it is my turn to watch." Gimli said, trudging over. You got up but Aragorn followed. "Y/n, why are you suddenly flustered? I haven't seen you like this since the first time you met Lord Elrond." Aragorn said. You still didn't talk, walking over to your sleeping area and sitting down. Aragorn of course, slept near you so he sat in front of you. "Boromir mentioned something and I cannot get this out of my mind." you sighed.
Aragorn rose a brow. "What is it?" he asked. "He said, something along the lines of you..." You sighed. "This is ridiculous. Can I please just sleep-" "Y/n, this is clearly bothering you." He said. You looked down. "He said you held romantic feelings for me." you said in a low mutter. He gulped.
Well shit, he expected Arwen to say something before Boromir would. "But that's... Foolish. Right?" you said softly. He looked at you. "Why is that foolish?" He asked. "Aragorn you... you're a king, you have these important titles... I do not fit with your life I-I'm just a woman." you muttered. "You speak as if you are nothing." He said. "I speak realistically because to most, I am nothing." you said. Aragorn shook his head, clearly upset by your feelings. "You are not nothing to me." He said. You swallowed, looking at him. "Aragorn-" "I don't give a damn about your status. I don't care if you're the lowest class possible, you are an amazing woman. You are beautiful, kind, you are someone who is strong and courageous- Y/n how could I not love you!?" He asked. You blinked. "...You... You love me?" You asked. He swallowed.
Aragorn was never very straightforward with his feelings, in fact he rarely showed large amounts of emotion, he typically kept to himself. You however had this effect on him. He'd share everything with you. And right now that was showing. "I love you." He repeated. You didn't move. Your expression didn't change. In fact you seemed motionless. "Y/n?" He asked. You seemed frozen. "...Y/n are you alright?" He asked. You finally leaned forward, gripping him by his shirt and kissed him.
He was shocked of course. The second he registered what was happening though, he put a hand on the back of your neck, pulling you into his arms. You eventually had to pull away for air, looking into his beautiful eyes. "You are not useless. Please know that." He said softly. You hugged his neck, him burying his face in your neck.
The next morning you two were found asleep in each other's arms. Sam looked at Frodo with a grin. "It seems we missed a lot while we rested." Gandalf said. You leaned up with a yawn as did Aragorn. You smiled at him and he smiled back at you. He felt eyes on him though making him turn. "...It seems we have an audience." He said. You looked over. "What should we do?" You asked softly. "Give them something to look at." Aragorn chuckled before he kissed you.

Why Amity fell for Luz: A Theory
Watching all the episodes of The Owl House and reviewing them brought back a lot of thoughts and feelings that I maybe forgot about. We all ship things and sometimes we do it for fun; sometimes for deeper reasons. I just started lumity because it reminded me of Diana & Akko from Little Witch Academia. I loved that show so much that I wanted more, and I thought it would be cool if Luz & Amity did something similar. I had no idea that it was going to go beyond that, so DAMN. To quote a talking science wolf, “For years we ask how, but we should ask why.” I mean, we saw how. But why? Well I can take a guess.
Tumblr media
If we’re are going to start anywhere it’s going to be with the girl in question, Amity Blight.
Tumblr media
As far as I know as of this typing, Amity Blight is a witchling from The Boiling Isles. She lives in Bonesboro at The Blight Manor estate with her parents and her siblings. She attends Hexside School of Magic and Demonics. Good for her.
Amity has an ambitious and competitive personality. She’s always striving to be better and be at the top of whatever she is doing. When she’s introduced in I Was a Teenage Abomination, she’s showing having great pride in being the top student in her abomination class. In Adventures in the Elements, she goes to The Knee in hopes of training to beat her siblings’ high score on the placement exam.
Tumblr media
Amity also has a bit of a temper and gets annoyed easily. In I Was a Teenage Abomination, she sics her abominations on Willow and Luz just because she wasn’t named top student that day. In Enchanting Grom Fright, Amity snapped at the person she bumped into before realizing it was Luz. And later in the same episode, Amity beat up Hooty when he decided to get too close.
But she does have a soft sensitive side. She keeps a diary in her secret room in the library and even reads to kids in her free time. Amity also has a strong sense of integrity. She despises cheating (and cheaters) and feels guilt when she’s forced to break ties with Willow.
So why did someone like this fall for Luz of all people? (see above image)
Enter what I call my Shipping Theory of Compliments
The Shipping Theory of Compliments is that two characters would be shipped and sometimes canonically enter a romantic relationship based on their personalities complimenting each other and fulfilling elements they don’t have alone necessary to developing the character.
People like to use the image of a missing puzzle piece, but I don’t like that comparison because I think it’s a little inaccurate and I don’t like puzzles. Think of it more like the two pieces of the yin and yang coming together and then growing the circles of the opposite colors in them.
Tumblr media
Something like that.
And it’s compliments, not opposites. When you think compliments, think more Star and Marco from Star vs the Forces of Evil. Star wants to go on a magical adventure. Marco also wants to go on a magic adventure. The difference is that Star goes in recklessly while Marco wants to plan it out a bit. They still have their adventure as oppose to Star’s opposite who wouldn’t want to go on a magical adventure. That sort of thing.
So how do Luz and Amity compliment each other?
Let’s start with that they have in common. Obvious stuff aside, they’re both training to become the best witches they can be. The difference comes that Luz is a human who has to learn magic via glyphs that she finds and Amity learns magic the “proper” way on The Boiling Isles.
Luz and Amity are also both fans of The Good Witch Azura book series. Difference is that Luz is more open about her fandom while Amity tries to keep it a secret. Also petty thing but they’re both fan artists too, but I think Luz might be a better than Amity. But hey, her crosshatching is improving.
Luz and Amity are also (at the start of the series) both lonely people. Luz’s mom says that she doesn’t have any friends, and Amity doesn’t like her “friends.” The difference is that Luz reaches outward to ease her loneliness (being social and friendly, trying new things, etc.) while Amity reaches inward (keeping a diary, staying busy, having a secret spot, etc.). They both also use escapist fiction to ease their loneliness.
That’s all well and good, but now we get into the real speculative parts.
...complimenting each other and fulfilling elements they don’t have alone necessary to developing the character.
When I was taking acting classes I was taught that the way you see people act is a persona based on their experiences on what it takes to survive and avoid physical, emotional and social death. So now we have to speculate based on what we were given on what emotional/social needs and wants has Amity not been getting before that she has with Luz.
First let me point you to another show called F is for Family. F is for Family is an adult animated sitcom on Netflix that follows a very dysfunctional family in the 1970s. These are legitimately bad characters, not in terms of being poorly written. What I’m saying is that these guys are assholes. But here’s where it gets interesting.
One of the characters is Kevin Murphy, the teenage son of the family. He’s a dim-witted wannabe rockstar who is always yelled at and put down by his parents throughout the entire series. However in season four Kevin meets Alice. Alice teaches Kevin that his favorite band is a big reference to Tolkien and gives him a copy of The Hobbit. They bond over their love of Lord of the Rings and get along really well. Alice calls him smart for being able to read all of Lord of the Rings over a few days and never puts him down. Even in the one time they did fight she never yelled at him or raised her voice which he found weird because he’s so used to being yelled at. Alice gave Kevin the emotional support he always wanted but never got from his family.
Using that as a backdrop, let’s go back to Amity.
Tumblr media
Amity grew up with her parents making her do things she didn’t want to do, making choices for her. Amity wanted to be one way. Her parents wanted something else. Amity’s mother even dyes Amity’s hair green so it matches her siblings. Amity wanted to be friends with Willow. Amity’s parents wanted her to be friends with the mean kids. While Amity does work hard to be the best at what she’s doing, her parents also put pressure on her to make sure that she is at that level.
Tumblr media
Her siblings are another bag of awful. They constantly refer to her by an annoying nickname that I’m guessing has an embarrassing moment attached to it. They seem to live by a double standard that Amity despises. She has to work hard and follow the rules just to be accepted while they are naturally talented and break the rules with everyone still thinking that they’re perfect.
Family is supposed to provide unconditional love except it looks like the love of the Blights is based on conditions. Nobody just likes Amity for who she is. She doesn’t have a friend.
Enter: the friendliest person she’s ever met
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Amity has to struggle and work for the simplest things, even affection. Except when it comes to Luz. Luz is naturally friendly and positive. Amity doesn’t have to earn her kindness. Even when she’s bullied Luz before, Luz is always coming back with a smile. I suppose when you live life surrounded by jerks, you’ll want to hang out with the one person who’s always nice to you. Sort of.
Yes, Amity did think Luz was a bully for constantly getting her into trouble. But even at Covention and Lost in Language, Luz kept reaching out to her. This combined with Amity’s awareness of her own behavior is what convinced her to try to reach out in kind to Luz by the end of Lost in Language. “She’s trying to be nice to me, so I should try too,” I’m guessing is the mindset especially in Adventures in the Elements. And then...Luz continued to be nice to her which is kind of a big deal for Amity.
Let’s tally up what we have so far:
Luz and Amity have similar interests (The Good Witch Azura series, art, fiction, learning magic)
Luz and Amity have similar values (work ethic, disdain for cheating, protecting those closest to you, etc.)
Luz gives Amity the positivity and affection that Amity doesn’t normally get anywhere else
They still have differing personalities with Amity being more competitive and Luz having more of a live-and-let-live attitude.
Even with all these things in mind, why was Amity so scared to ask Luz to Grom?
Speculating again but my theory is that Amity wasn’t sure if Luz actually liked her or if Luz is just friendly because that’s how Luz is. Amity was scared of being rejected because she felt that maybe she was just reading the situation wrong. Luz is this ray of sunshine in her gray skies (if you’ll forgive the cliché). People like Amity always think of all the worst possibilities (I know because I do this too). Amity was probably thinking a bunch of what ifs. “What if Luz doesn’t actually like me? What if she’s just being friendly because she feels sorry for me? What if she has feelings for someone else? What if she never actually liked me? What if she’s straight?”
Luz is Amity’s first crush and it is scary as all hell to put yourself out there like that for the first time. She wasn’t expecting to get married at Grom night. She just wanted to dance with the girl she liked.
The dance at Grom was like confirmation for her that it could happen. Amity didn’t have to ask out Luz because Luz asked her. Being with Luz isn’t a pipedream. It’s a definite possibility. And we all know how she reacted to that idea.
Tumblr media
Uh...she’ll be in her bunk.
While Luz and Amity aren’t together as of this typing, I believe it’s bound to happen. Until then, after The Lumity Trilogy, Amity knows that Luz is the girl she likes.
tl;dr version
Amity fell for Luz because they have similar interests and values, their personalities differ in a compatible way and Luz provides Amity emotional needs and wants that she doesn’t get anywhere else.
Also, round eared girl pretty.
.
Thanks everyone for reading.

Could you maybe write a “73 questions with Sirius Black” Vogue one? Or something like that.
Yes! I had never seen these videos before and it was a fun challenge to write. Hope you enjoy! Sweater Weather credit goes to @lumosinlove!
The house is large, two stories tall and painted a soft gray with white trim around the windows. Holiday lights have yet to be taken down and shine in all colors of the rainbow from the eaves as the camera crew walks up the front steps. The curtains in the window tremble for a moment, then a dog pokes her head through—she is all-black and curious, and looks quite large.
Dorcas Meadowes knocks on the front door; a moment later, it swings open and reveals Sirius Black. “Hey, guys, come on in! You can leave your shoes by the door inside.”
“Thanks, Sirius.” Dorcas kicks off her flats and follows him inside as he sets a dish towel on the end table and leans against it. “How are you today?”
“I’m doing pretty well. Morning practice was productive and I’m feeling good about our upcoming game.”
“We’re here today to ask you 73 rapid-fire questions while you lead us around. Sound good?”
“Sounds good. You can all come inside instead of freezing on the porch,” he laughs, waving them closer. The door shuts with a gentle click.
“First question: on a scale of 1-10, how excited are you about life right now?”
“Hmmm. A solid seven.”
“Do you have any pets?”
“I do!” Sirius leads them into the other room, where the dog is curled up on the couch below the window; he picks her up and gives her a kiss on the head. “This is Hattie and I love her very much.”
“Cute! If you could do a dramatic love scene in a movie with anyone, who would it be?”
Sirius sets the dog down and thinks for a second. “Aside from my fiancé, I’m going to say James Potter. We would kill it and I don’t think it would be that awkward.”
“What’s the origin of your name?”
“Pretty much my whole family has star-themed names. Sirius is the dog star from Canis Major.”
“Brightest star in the sky, too. What’s one thing people don’t know about you?”
“I’m an introvert. Lots of people assume that I’m super social because of my job, but I’m very quiet in real life.” He walks back out to the entrance and takes the towel off the table, then moves into the kitchen. It’s well-lit and painted a deep, warm red. The countertop is scattered with knickknacks and picture frames—clearly, this is a place people spend a lot of time. Hattie, who followed them in, lays down by the oven with a heavy sigh.
“What’s your wakeup ritual?”
Sirius reaches up and pulls two mugs out of the cupboard. “I wake up around seven am and make coffee while Re is in the shower, then rinse off and get dressed while he makes breakfast. It’s a good system. Want some tea?”
“Sure. What’s your bedtime ritual?”
“I don’t think I have one,” he says as he puts the kettle on and ignites a burner on the stove. “Usually we read or watch a movie, then go up to bed and talk for a while. There’s not a big routine or anything.”
“Sounds nice. What’s your favorite time of day?” Dorcas sits on the other side of the kitchen island while he takes a box of peppermint tea down.
“That’s a tough one. I like the in-between spots, like just after sunrise or dusk. Three in the afternoon is usually pretty chill as well. Does anyone else want a cup?”
There are a few murmurs behind the camera and he takes two more down. “What is one thing no one knows about you?” Dorcas asks.
He raises an eyebrow. “If I told you, everyone would know, and it wouldn’t count.”
“Fair enough. Dream country to visit?”
“Anywhere. I think I want to go to Ireland first, though.” Small wisps of steam begin curling out of the kettle, but it doesn’t whistle.
“Do you ever feel pressure to post things on social media?”
Sirius makes a face. “I used to. Eventually I just got tired of it, you know? The whole point of social media is sharing bits of your life with people and it makes me happy to show off my dog, or Re, or my friends. I post things just for fun now.”
The kettle begins to hiss and he reaches back to turn it off. “Sneakers or skates?”
“Skates.”
“Vintage or new?
“Vintage, especially for t-shirts and sweaters.”
“Who is your biggest role model?”
“Pascal Dumais.” Sirius stops pouring for a moment to look up at the camera. “If you ever get a chance to meet him, listen to what he has to say. You’ll be better for it.”
“Wise words. How do you deal with negativity? Oh, thank you.” Dorcas wraps her hands around the mug and takes a small sip while Sirius passes the other ones to the crew.
“Honestly? I don’t give a shit. It used to really bother me, but I’m happy, I have a job I love, and my family cares about me. Why should I care what people I’ve never met think of me?” He sits on the counter and rests his elbows on his knees, blowing on the hot water.
“What are three things you can’t live without?”
“My dog, Remus, and my family.” There is no hesitation in his voice.
“Not hockey?”
“I’d be devastated if I couldn’t play, sure, but it’s not the central focus of my life anymore.”
“What’s one ingredient you put in everything?”
“Does salt count?” He winces as he takes a drink. “Ugh, burned my tongue. I put salt on a lot of things because I drink so much water that it throws my balance off.”
“What is something you’re completely bored of right now?”
Sirius rolls his eyes. “Gossip columns and tabloids in general.”
Dorcas hums in agreement. “What’s your biggest fear in life?”
“Losing my loved ones.”
“Window or aisle seat?”
“Window. Anyone walking by always steps on my foot or hits my elbow if I’m in the aisle. Plus, I get a good view and an easy nap spot.”
“What’s your current TV obsession?”
“Avatar: The Last Airbender, which I’m watching for the third time already.” He shakes his head. “It’s just so good.”
“Favorite app?”
He takes a second to think. “Spotify.”
“Secret talent?”
Sirius looks at her over the rim over his cup. “This is going to shock you. Ready?”
“Ready.”
“Hockey.”
“You’re the worst.” Despite her words, Dorcas smiles. “What the most adventurous thing you’ve done in your life?”
“Uh, probably going to Europe with some of the guys last year. We had a lot of fun, but it was crazy.”
“I can imagine it was. How would you define yourself in three words?”
“Tall, dark, and handsome.”
“And apparently not humble,” Dorcas teases. “Favorite piece of clothing?”
“Hoodies.”
“Clothing item everyone should have?”
“Hoodies.”
A door opens behind them and the camera turns; Remus walks out of the basement, covered in sweat as he wipes his forehead with the hem of his shirt and holds his skates in his other hand. “Baby, have you seen…” he trails off when he sees the group of people in the kitchen. Hattie’s tail thumps on the floor. “Um. Hello.”
“Hey, Remus, how are you doing?” Dorcas asks mildly.
The camera pans out to catch both Sirius, who is laughing quietly, and Remus, who flushes pink. “I’m good. I thought you were coming at ten?”
“It’s ten-thirty, sweetheart,” Sirius says, hiding his smile in his tea.
Remus glances at the clock before giving an awkward nod and walking toward the stairs. “I guess I’ll take a shower, then. Sorry about that. Uh, carry on.”
“What’s a superpower you would want?” Dorcas asks as soon as he disappears.
Sirius shakes his head with a grin. “Uh, teleportation. That would be really cool.”
“What’s inspiring you in life right now?”
“Ah, une grande question.” He thinks, then tilts his head toward the staircase. “Moments like that. And the Stanley Cup, of course.” He reaches back and knocks on the wooden cupboard.
“What cause is closest to your heart?”
“LGBT+ rights, especially trans rights. I’m privileged enough to have a platform and I intend to be loud as hell about that.”
“Good.” Dorcas sets her almost-empty mug on the table. “What’s one thing you’d say to your teenage self?”
Sirius lets out a long breath and drums his hands on the light blue ceramic of his cup. “I would say…it gets better. It really, really does. You’re going to feel super shitty for just a little bit longer, but then I promise you will be so incredibly happy that you wake up every morning and it hits you all over again.”
Dorcas nods, and the kitchen is quiet for a moment. “What’s a book that everyone should read?”
“The Hobbit, by J.R.R Tolkien.”
“What would you like to be remembered for?”
“This is going to sound so corny, but I want to be remembered for just being a good person.”
“That’s not corny. How do you define beauty?”
“Remus Lupin.”
“That’s corny,” she laughs, making him smile. “What do you love most about your body?”
“I’m a big guy, which can be a little bit intimidating, but it means I give really great hugs. I’m sure everyone saw the video that went around a while ago.”
“Cap Cuddles?”
He snorts. “Right. You’ve got Finn O’Hara to thank for that.”
“In your opinion, what’s the best way to take a rest or decompress?”
“Being alone,” Sirius says. “There is literally nothing better than getting home and sitting down with a book or something while I can hear Re doing his own thing and Hattie’s napping. It’s one of my favorite parts of the afternoon.”
“That’s the most introverted thing you’ve ever said.” Dorcas grins and finishes her tea just as a faint beeping noise begins in another room. “What’s your favorite way to experience art?”
“Through music, for sure.” He slides off the counter and walks down the hall, leading them toward the laundry room. He gives the camera crew a look as he pulls dry clothes out of the machine and heads back to the living room. “What? Did you think I didn’t do my own laundry?”
“You lost a sock,” Dorcas informs him, picking it off the ground and laying it on top of his head.
“Thanks, D.”
“What question do people ask that you wish they wouldn’t?”
“Lots of people have asked me when I decided to be gay, which is wrong on so many levels.”
“If you could master one instrument, what would it be?”
“Guitar or piano.” He dumps the load of laundry on the couch and opens the back door, holding it for the crew as they walk out into the sunshine. Hattie weaves through their legs and disappears into the bushes along the back.
“I might have to take your dog home with me. If you had a tattoo, where would it be?”
Sirius mock-glares at her. “Let me have my girl! Um, I would love to have a tattoo somewhere on my arm.”
“This might be a hard one. Dolphins or koalas?”
“Oh, that is hard. Probably dolphins. The ocean is terrifying but those little guys are just having a blast.”
“What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?” Dorcas asks as he picks up a tennis ball and throws it across the yard. Hattie emerges from the bushes and races after it in a blur of black fur.
“An engagement ring.”
“Yeah, it was.” Remus walks into the backyard and kisses Sirius’ cheek before bending down to catch Hattie in his arms. His hair is still damp from the shower. “Hello, sweet girl!”
“Who’s your favorite musician?”
“Queen.” Sirius laughs at her surprised look. “I’m gay, what did you expect?”
“True. What’s your favorite board game?”
“Monopoly.” Remus and Hattie disappear from the frame, but the bouncing sound of the tennis ball creates some background noise and Sirius watches them for a moment with pure affection.
“Favorite color?”
“Blue.”
“Least favorite color?”
“Orange.”
“Bowties or knot ties?”
He frowns. “Don’t they all have knots?”
“Smartass.”
“Yep! Uh, regular ties.”
“Bowties are superior!” Remus calls.
“Get your own questions!” Sirius laughs.
“Going off your music answers: records or CDs?”
“I don’t own a lot of records, so I’m going to have to go with CDs. I love the way vinyl sounds, though.” His eyes widen as he looks to the side. “Are you okay?”
“Fine,” Remus wheezes. “I didn’t need those ribs anyway.”
“For the viewers, the dog just football-tackled him into the grass,” Sirius says, and Dorcas snorts.
“Your hair is famously luscious. Blow-dry or air-dry?”
“Air dry.”
“Coffee or tea?”
“Coffee, but tea is nice in the evenings.”
“What’s the weirdest word in the English language?”
Sirius laughs. “There are so many. Uh, ‘jeez’ is the one that comes to mind first.”
“What about the French language?”
“Oiseaux,” he says in a crisp accent. “It means ‘birds’, and you pronounce about three of the actual letters.”
“Good to know. Do you prefer dark chocolate or milk chocolate?”
“Dark chocolate.”
“Stairs or elevators?”
“Elevators. I don’t want to walk up three floors after playing hockey for two and a half hours.”
“Summer or winter?”
Sirius bites his lip in thought as they walk around the yard, where small flowers line the fence in beds and colorful pots. “I love summer because I have actual free time to be with my friends, but winter is hockey season. I don’t know, next question.”
“What’s a dessert you don’t like?”
“I’m not a huge fan of caramel. It’s too sticky.”
“A skill you’re working on mastering?”
“Will you ban me from more interviews if I say hockey?”
“Yes.”
“In that case, I’m working on keeping plants alive, as you can probably see.” He taps the nearest flowerpot gently with his foot; it has ‘Harry’ painted across it in sloppy blue letters. “My godson made that for my birthday.”
“What’s the best thing to happen to you today?”
“This, for sure,” he says with a smile. “I haven’t seen you and Marley in ages.”
“We missed you, too. What’s the worst thing that happened to you today?”
He pouts slightly. “Burning my tongue on tea.”
“Hugs or kisses?”
“Hugs! Though I’ll accept kisses from a few very specific people.”
“Do you have a favorite smell?”
He pauses and cranes his neck to look behind the cameras. “Re?”
“Yeah?”
“What shampoo do you use?”
“Uhhh…” There’s a moment of quiet. “It’s something with lavender, I think.”
Sirius turns back to Dorcas. “Something with lavender.”
“How specific,” she laughs. “What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?”
He smiles to himself. “There was a young woman, maybe sixteen or seventeen, that came to one of the games earlier this season. I saw her standing with a puck and went over, and while I was signing it she looks at me and says, ‘you are exactly what I wish my older brother was like’. Turns out, she was bisexual and her brother wasn’t super accepting of her. That was…” He shakes his head. “That meant the world to me. I’ll never forget it.”
“You’ve definitely made a big impact on the community,” Dorcas agrees. “What’s the last piece of content you consumed that made you cry?”
“I watched ‘Soul’ the other night and almost had to pause it at one point to pull myself together.”
“Do you prefer animated movies or live-action?”
“Animated, mostly because I wasn’t allowed to watch Disney movies as a kid, so I’ve been catching up as an adult and they rock.”
“What’s your nerdiest quality?
“I love watching documentaries.”
“Sweet or savory?” The back door creaks a bit as they walk back inside and the camera catches a few frames of Hattie and Remus running around the yard together.
“Sweet.”
“In ten years, you have a daughter. What age do you let her date?”
Sirius gives Dorcas a look. “Whenever she wants to. I’m going to impose curfews and stuff, but I’m the last person on the planet to police her love life.”
“Good answer. What’s a song you can listen to on repeat?”
“Don’t Stop Me Now by Queen. Absolute banger.”
“If you could switch lives with someone for a day, who would it be?”
“Arthur Weasley,” he says after a moment. “I would love to know what it feels like to get up in the morning and know you’re about to spend another day wrangling our team. It’s a miracle he hasn’t killed us all with his clipboard.”
“How do you know you’re in love?”
“Oh.” Sirius blinks at her in surprise at the sudden topic change. “Well, for me, I think it’s just…being comfortable around someone. Being able to spend time with them without saying anything and knowing you’re safe, no matter what. It’s the best feeling in the world.”
“What are you most excited about at this time in your life?”
A slight smile crinkles his eyes. “Getting married. That’s going to be awesome.”
“Who is your go-to for having a good laugh?”
“James Potter. He’s the best, and I love him.”
“Last question,” Dorcas says, sliding her list into her pocket. “Many LGBT+ people, especially teenagers, have spoken about how you’re an inspiration. Any words for them?”
Sirius hums in thought. “First of all, thank you for being so open and welcoming. I would never have expected the sheer force of people’s love to come through like that when so many people were saying horrible things. Second, to any kids out there who need to hear it: I’m proud of you. It takes a lot to be true to yourself and even if you’re still in the closet, you’re just as valid as the rest of us. Stay proud.”
“That’s a wrap.” Dorcas gives him a quick hug that he happily returns. “Thanks for letting us crash your morning, Cap.”
“Any time. Thanks for tuning in to Lion Pride, everyone!”

Night out
Benny watts x reader
I'm so so so sorry this to so long to come out. I had planned it to be out for new year and then I kept changing my mind so it may not seem like it makes sense apologizes, I'm also promptly moving tomorrow. I literally was told my parents couldn't handle me and my mental health anymore and am not getting kicked out just ( space for everyone ) so yea I'm feeling very low and just so no one wonders why the next one will probably take so long. I'll be living with my real mum who has her own issues too so we will see
Trigger warning - slight alcohol miss use. Slight drunken abuse (not from benny he would never.)
Some cuddles and fluff
Prompt - ”Can you please come and get me ”
--------
It had been a less than successful night. Your sure others wouldn't agree but you sat next to a gutter at the side of a very quiet road in front of a building of which merely hours ago you had been drinking aside friends in had drunk adults spilling from the door as everyone came and went.
Your arms wrapped tightly around yourself, you glanced around and spotted a payphone a little down the street. Pulling yourself off the ground and reaching for your bag you stumble your way away from the slow rumbling music that clung around the door from inside. It got distant and you fell into the booth.
You thought about how the night had started. The party had been on everyones mind for days. You were going with cleo and the boys. Beth was even gonna meet you guys there. Who was in New York for a few days, staying in a hotel a few blocks from the party. Although she didn't stay long, trying to keep sober.
You guys had got there around 11. In time for the beginning of shots being pasted around. Which you off course accepted. Kick starting the night with some vodka.
All went well for a few hours, by about 2 you'd put back your fair share of drink. And that's when it started to hit you. You weren't a stranger to the results of alcohol tho and kept going like it was nothing.
But apparently your uneven walking had caught the attention of some...less than pleasant individuals. They had tried talking to you before and you just ignored them. They had a look in their eyes that you weren't comfortable with so you didn't dwell on them.
But they had dwelled on you it seemed. They noticed as your balance had started to wobble. Quite possibly noticing when your words all slurred together. And definitely when you stumbled in front of them as you had unsuccessfully attempted to step past one of them. But there was no call for the man to grab you. And not in a way to help you balance. You told him to let go. But his hands had other ideas. You tried to pull his hands off of you and your not sure what happened next but he slapped you.
You probably did something wrong you thought. You always screw things up.
Some words were exchanged and you rushed out. Not after kneeling him in a not so nice place. he tried to grab you. Ripping the shoulder of your one straps. It was a cheap dress but now you had to make sure you help up the strap just in case.
You felt humiliated and your face hurt.
You found some money in your bag, next to some mint gum that you decided was a higher priority.
Benny hadn't come to the party. He thought it sounded stupid. And when you had stepped out of your room into the middle of the apartment he looked at you and snorted.
” what do you expect to get in that get up?” he asked suggestively.
You didn't think anything of it and giggled at him. But now you thought maybe it truly was your fault an that you seemed like you were asking for it.
Shaking your head to clear it of such thoughts. Which made the small booth spin a little but you stuck with it. Putting in the coins and trying to remember the right numbers for the house. You felt sick as you listened for the click of the phone being a answered and a harsh voice on the other end speaking.
”hello?”
It was Benny. Hopefully you hadn't woke him.
” Benny?” you whispered out. Realising you had to speak
” Y/N?” he questioned. Voice softening a little.
You twirled the cable as you stared at your shaking hand.
Your throat seemed to close up as you looked for the words. To explain how drunk you had got. To explain what the men tried to do to you. Why you hadn't come home yet even though it was now 3.
” Y/N what's the matter” he asked sternly.
Your eyes pricked with sudden tears and with a slight choke you sobbed out.
”Can you please come and get me ”
”what happened where are the others?” he seemed startled
” I don't know. I'm sorry. Please Benny.”
There was a split second of silence and then
” I'm coming to get you stay right where you are. ” and then another click.
You waited. Felt like a life time. You thought about a lot of things. Part of you was worried Benny wouldn't come. That he would leave you here. You struggled to keep your self balanced so you went over to a step and sat down. Put your head in your hands with your elbows resting on your thighs.
You sighed. Maybe you should find your own way. You sat up and ran your fingers through your hair.
It wasn't to long before a taxi pulled up in front of you and outstepped a slightly frustrated looking Benny.
His hair askew and a loose black shirt, he took a few long strides to reach you.
Looking up you giggled at how tall he looked. Sighing at your antics he held out a hand and began to pull you too your feet.
Wobbling considerably you made it to an upright position and with a long arm around your waist you stumbled your way to the taxi.
You some how got in. A testament to what a person would do to get away from a party.
You could tell he hadn't noticed your strap or face yet, you had concealed it well. Somehow.
Time didn’t work for you so you’ve no idea how long it took to get home. But when you did benny got out first to open the door for you and pay the driver.
Thanking the man. He shut the car door and watched for a second as it pulled away before turning his attention to the more presssing matter of the drunking idiot before him. Giggling at a joke he obviously missed.
He noticed your face. You saw the moment he did and he stepped closer. Enough to see the outline of a hand.
This was when Benny realised there was a little more to this story of you just getting blitzed as he, for the first time took in your appearance, clocking the strap you were holding up with your arms folded.
A hint of rage passed through him before he calmed and took your hand to get you inside. You were barely three steps into the building befor you asked
“How am I supposed to get down the stairs”
Slurring lightly.
He sighed. Not for the last time and leaned down to hoist you into his arms and proceeded with caution as he walked with you. You giggled some more as you wrapped your arms around his neck, hugging into him.
You were drained. And you wanted to sleep. Leaning your face into his neck you've never felt safer.
When he reached the bottom he placed you down gently and unlocked the door to let you both in. This time just holding you round the waist as you wobbled down the small set of stairs. He then pulled you to the sofa and sat you down.
After doing the usually after drinks things like water and getting you a jumper and some shorts of his he then sat next to you and spoke for the first time since you's had got in.
”are you going to tell me what happened?” he gently pushed. Not wanting to push you over the limit but he was concerned.
Your face fell and you nodded a little and told him very roughly but enough that he understood what had happened. He was angry, to say the least, but knew there was nothing he could do about the disrespectful toad roaming the streets. So he settled to offer you an open arm for you to cuddle into him. You of course jumped at the offer and snuggled into the warm man.
You didn't want to go to bed and Benny knew that. Knowing you'd not have the effort to get up and both being quite comfortable where you both remained.
You spotted a book on the coffee table and looked up at Benny with puppy dog eye that you knew he couldn't refuse.
” will you read to me?” you pleaded.
He chuckled and lent forward to retrieve the book. It happened to be the hobbit. ( I know it's not for everyone but I know it's written before Benny time so apologies please roll with it)
As he started to read chapter one an unexpected party and began describing the hobbit hole. You felt yourself begin to doze off to the soothing tones and his other hand rubbing soft circles on your upper arm.
It wasn't how the night had supposed to go but you were with him now and you felt protected. Knowing he came to your aid.
(with regards to the slap Yes I know this is a little unrealistic it lasting that long but I once got one that lasted a few hours ( I’m not being hit just to clarify it was a joke with some pals who one of them was telling me about a slap match to see how much he could take and the other we were with friend had really went for it and it was actually shockingly sore and my drunk ass went I can take it and he was reluctant at first and then went to go and did it before stating that was hadn’t been hard enough and went again even harder and it left quite a mark and we all laughed so ya. ) but just pretend if you don’t think it would )

You'll Outlive Her-Thorin Oakenshield x Reader x Company (Part 2)
Tumblr media

Part 1
Masterlist
Tags: @andineversawyoucoming
Summary: Although Thorin keeps telling himself that the only love he has for (Y/N) is platonic, Balin can see that he is lying to himself. The company have not so subtly started to baby (Y/N), something which is starting to get on her nerves.
Characters: Thorin Oakenshield x Reader, Bilbo Baggins x Reader (platonic), Gandalf x Reader (platonic), Company x Reader (platonic)
Meanings: (Y/N)=Your name
Warnings: Arguing, violence/fighting with weapons, blood, death, fluff
                                        *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
The company pressed on with their journey, riding through different terrains and weather, their minds trying to get used to this perilous trek. There was no more talk of age, however, there had been a shift in dynamics within the group. (Y/N) couldn't put her finger on it at first; she noticed the men riding closer to her, more of them were sleeping beside her, with some of them even staying awake for longer to patrol their new campsite. Soon it clicked what was going on, and she wasn't happy about it.
In one way, it was touching that they cared so much for her after only knowing her for a short time. They meant no harm by it, they were looking out for their new friend, it had become a habit for them. However, there were some bad habits that needed to be stopped, and this was one of them. (Y/N) would always volunteer to check out the new areas for their campsite, followed by a round of protests, or the dwarves saying that at least four of them should go with her. She had always been able to climb onto her horse, now she was practically lifted onto it almost every time. It was getting to be far too much.
Surprisingly, Bilbo hadn’t been the worse. His worrying nature wasn’t heightened after he heard of her lifespan. Although it had come as a shock, he was able to recognise that look in her eyes; she was a strong, independent and smart woman, and she wasn’t being seen like that anymore. He obviously wasn’t a skilled Hobbit himself (not in fighting or surviving the great outdoors anyway), he knew how it felt to have these men look at you as weaker. Bilbo could see that it wasn’t out of spite towards (Y/N). Though that didn’t make it any less upsetting to her.
“For the last time, I am able to chop wood for the fire!” (Y/N) exclaimed to Fili as he took the axe away from her.
“We’ve had a long day, I will do it.” He answered smiling back at her.
“Yes, we have had a long day. So you’re probably just as exhausted as I am.”
Bilbo had been listening, quickly stepping in before (Y/N) chopped off something else with the axe.“Um, (Y/N)!”
He almost jumped back when he saw the enraged expression on her face.
“I...Sorry, I just need help with the, the...the uh...horses. Please.”
(Y/N) glanced back at Fili, huffing loudly as she stormed away. Bilbo followed after her, keeping his distance in case she had anymore weapons hidden away. Although there wasn’t a massive difference in height, Bilbo still had a hard time keeping up with her long strides. She abruptly stopped, spinning around to face the hobbit, who had to refrain from yelping. They stared at each other for a few seconds, the uneasiness building.
“Bilbo, what did you need help with?” (Y/N) suddenly snapped.
“Oh!” Bilbo remembered.“They....they need to be tied up properly.”
(Y/N) tugged on the reins, making sure they secure before turning back to Bilbo.“They’re fine. Has someone said something to you to make you doubt yourself?”
“No. I just thought I would stop an argument before it began...between you and Fili.”
(Y/N) crossed her arms over her chest as she sighed.“I appreciate that Bilbo but I can stand up for myself.”
“I know you can.”
“No, you don’t understand....wait, did you just agree with me?”
“Yes. I’ve noticed how much the others have been upsetting you. Though I promise that they aren’t doing it to make you feel inferior in any way.”
“I know. But they’ve only started treating me like this since finding out that I don’t live as long as they do. Which doesn’t make any sense, because they aren’t immortal.”
“Perhaps if you sit them all down, they will listen to you. You can try to get them to understand.”
(Y/N) thought about it.“That might work.”
“Yes, yes, let’s all gather around the fire, and we’ll talk about it as a group.”
(Y/N) followed Bilbo as he led them to the rest of the company, all of them watching as the pair approached. She was beginning to feel conscious about herself, trying to come up with the words that truly expressed how she was feeling. She had done this for the past few nights, when tossing and turning as she thought of what she could say to make them all understand. Now that the time was here, (Y/N) seemed to be speechless.
“What’s wrong?” Balin asked, starting the conversation.
“Wrong? Nothing is wrong per say, I mean there is something but-” Bilbo tried to ease (Y/N) in, though it was clear that he wasn’t helping.
(Y/N) interrupted.“I want to talk to you all about how you have been treating me.”
“It’s alright, you don’t have to thank us.” Ori smiled, not meaning to come off as rude.
“Thank you? You think I’m about to thank you?!” (Y/N) exclaimed, shocking them all.
“The boy meant no harm by it.” Dori tried to defend Ori.
“But that’s the thing, you are harming me! You all hurt me every time you treat me like some delicate princess, who-who-who is made of glass, and I’m going to shatter at any given moment if not looked after. It’s infuriating!” She was shouting, a raging fire burning in her eyes.
Gloin stood up quickly.“There’s no need to raise your voice at us, we’re only trying to protect you.”
“See? You’re not even listening now. You’ve all seen me practicing with a sword, you know I can handle a weapon and anyone who dares attack me. Yet all you do is baby me. I don’t need someone to help me onto my horse, I don’t need someone to build a fire for me, I don’t need someone to chop up wood for the fire!”
“Well, that doesn’t sound very grateful!” Oin piped up, grasping into the conversation.
(Y/N) groaned.“None of you are getting it! I appreciate the idea of you all looking after me, but not like this.”
She was met with blank stares which only made her more angry. For the second time that day, (Y/N) left the argument, disappearing into the woods. When the others called out to her she only yelled back at them.
“Can you just leave me alone for one minute?!”
The company were taken back by the outburst, feeling guilty as they reflected on their actions. Thorin had not been in the immediate circle of people, standing off to the side as he watched the young woman reveal her feelings. The dwarves were deep in thought, giving Thorin a chance to easily slip away. He was running, making sure he was heading in the right direction, seeing flashes of her body through the dense wood. They were in the mountains, and as the edge of the woods was in sight, he saw (Y/N) standing on a ledge, looking out at the sun quickly disappearing behind the mountains in the distance.
Her shoulders slumped down.“Thorin, I’m really not in the mood to talk anymore.”
He noticed the shakiness in her voice, deciding to slowly walk towards her.“I know. But even the most skilled fighter needs someone to keep an eye out for them.”
She saw him stand beside her in her peripheral vision.“They aren’t listening to me.”
“They have a deep love for you. It has developed very quickly, hence why they are acting like such fools.”
“Fools?”
Thorin took a deep breath, looking over the landscape before him.“That is what I said.”
“So you agree with me?”
“Yes.” he simply said.
(Y/N) hadn’t had many conversations with Thorin. He wasn’t a man of many words. But sometimes she wanted to. The others spoke to her (even though they were in the bad books), it would be nice to make a real connection with him. Thorin was a legend, he was courageous, knew how to be a leader. She admired him. It was at this point (Y/N) had realised that she had turned to look at him, and was staring for a tad too long at this point. Embarrassingly, the blood was rushing to her cheeks, and she hoped that the last light of the day didn’t show it.
Thorin had felt her eyes on him, and how desperate he had been to look into them. He knew he would be captivated, he would have been reluctant to look away. But judging by her body language, she had become nervous. The corners of his lips twitched up into a barely visible smile; however, there was a thought buried deep in his mind, telling him to not fall for this woman.
“I could have handled it better, don’t you think?” (Y/N) questioned, brave enough to face him.
Thorin still looked into the distance.“You were going to burst if you didn’t say something soon.”
“Wait, so you could see that I was upset?”
“Well, yes, I’m not like the others. I could see how it effected you.”
“And you didn’t say anything?”
He was stumped, wondering how the dreamy atmosphere had disappeared. Now he looked at her, the furious expression back again.“It wasn’t my place to say-”
“If a member of your company has a problem, shouldn’t you try to fix it?”
“As I said, I wouldn’t interfere-”
“But it could have caused a bigger problem-”
“Let me finish speaking!” Thorin’s voice boomed, causing birds in a nearby tree to fly away.
(Y/N) realised how worked up she was getting again, actually thankful that he had put her in his place. She mumbled,“Sorry, I know you’re just trying to help me.”
“No, I am sorry, I did not need to raise my voice like that.”
The conversation paused. Thorin was waiting to ensure that it was alright for him to continue.
“This quest is no easy task. We all knew what we were signing up for after reading through those contracts. I only wanted people that would be dedicated, I needed the passion and need from my company to know that they weren’t only here for the potential riches. I know many of these men, so I trust who they think should come along. Gandalf recruited you and the Hobbit, and although I was hesitant, I knew he had chosen you both for a reason. You proved your worth way before Bilbo.”
(Y/N) smiled, memories of poor Bilbo trying to keep up with the rest of the company who were used to this lifestyle.
Thorin continued.“They don’t mean anything by it, their actions I mean, you understand that. But this quest is weighing down on us, and we need to stick together in order to survive it.”
“I am able to protect them too though.”
“I’m sure that if you turned back now, you would receive many apologies.”
She shook her head.“No, I don’t want to go back yet. It’s nice out here.”
“Then if you don’t mind, may I stay with you?”
(Y/N) and Thorin had each thought the other would want silence after that. They were wrong. Somehow, they lulled into another conversation, (Y/N) wondering what life was like when Thorin was living as a prince, and how he stayed motivated to look after his people. He too had questions, not about her past, but her future. (Y/N) was never one for thinking that far ahead, it was her way of life, she was used to moving around. After Thorin asked, she was trying to come up with an answer. She was never opposed to the idea of having one place to stay, sometimes that’s what she dreamt about, perhaps this quest would lead her to the right place. Thorin was pleased with that answer, immediately having images of her beside him, wondering how she would feel about wearing a gown.
The next morning, all tension had disappeared. Thorin had unfortunately ended their time together, knowing that the company would be waiting for her return. He was right about them apologising, and (Y/N) did the same, knowing she hadn’t gone around it the right way. They continued on their journey, with their spirits high and wide smiles on everyone’s faces.
With everyone chatting away, the day quickly passed by, now becoming late afternoon. It seemed that it was going to be another easy day, one of the few left before they started to cross over into dangerous territory. They wouldn’t admit it, but their guards were down, they weren’t as alert, otherwise they would have noticed the people watching them as they stopped by a large stream to collect more water and rest.
“Sh! Someone’s close.” Thorin hushed everyone, hand on the hilt of his sword, everyone copying with their own weapons.
“Thorin Oakenshield, I presume?” another voice called out as five humans emerged from the depths of the wood.
Now everyone was prepared for a fight, weapons drawn at the ready.
“Oh good, we are in the right place boys.”
Thorin stepped forward, but stopped as (Y/N)’s hand shot out. She shook her head at him, cautiously walking forward herself.
“What do you want from us?” she confidently said.
“They’ve got a girl dwarf with them!” another idiot said.
The main man laughed with them.“No, she’s not a dwarf. I’ve seen their women, and believe me, they are ugly looking things. It’s actually hard to tell them apart from the men.”
(Y/N) rolled her eyes at their obnoxious cackling.“There’s more of us than you. Leave now, there doesn’t need to be a fight.”
“What’s a human doing joining a travelling around with a band of grumpy dwarves, a wizard and...is that a hobbit?”
“That’s none of your business. Leave.”
“There’s a hefty price for the king of dwarves. I would like to gain it.”
“You won’t be gaining anything less than a bruised eye if you keep talking.”
“I’ve had enough of this talk,” he reached behind him, pulling two axes out from behind his back,“I will take him with or without blood.”
“You heard the lass,” Bofur shouted,“you’re outnumbered!”
“Oh, are we?”
Six more men emerged from the shadows, all possessing multiple weapons that were at least twice the size of their own. Panicked heads whipped around to figure out their plan. The company still had four more on the humans, but their weapons and fighting skills could hugely effect how this ended. Fighting stances at the ready, the groups waited for someone to attack first.
Impatient with standing around, (Y/N) lunged forward at the closest human, screaming out as she raised her sword at him. The others followed suit, disturbing the peaceful surroundings. (Y/N) had been underestimated by the humans, the thought she would be easy to hold off; however, she was quick to prove them wrong, able to throw out every attack move possible as they struggled to defend themselves.
Thorin had to keep himself focused, but caught glimpses of (Y/N) fighting. She was somehow majestic, as if she were dancing (though with a sword and the music was the cries of pain from whom she attacked). They were doing just fine, they had the advantage of more numbers and a wizard on their side. However, he got too arrogant as he chopped down another human, slicing the back of their knees before stabbing them through the back; and it seemed he wasn't the only one.
(Y/N) cried out as her arm was sliced, instantly clutching onto it as blood began to trickle down to her hand. Although she had only dropped her guard for a second, she was already being attacked again. It wasn't as if she had never been in this situation, but this man was strong.
"(Y/N)!" Thorin yelled.
He barged through anyone that got in his way. Balin's eyes widened at the sight, it was as if they were in the war again, he hadn't seen that fury behind Thorin's eyes for a long time. And he wasn't rushing to save her because she was a friend, there was a deeper meaning behind his actions.
As the human pushed (Y/N) to the ground, she quickly held up her sword, blocking his attack. He was about to repeat himself and jump onto her so she couldn't escape, but was tackled off of her. She gasped, flinching when Thorin swiftly killed the man without him even putting up a fight. Looking over his shoulder, he saw her shocked expression, thinking nothing of it.
"Are you alright?" he asked as he scrambled towards her.
(Y/N) found it hard to form any words."Y-yes, the just cut my arm."
Thorin gently held it, inspecting the wound amongst the chaos around them."It's deep, we'll have to treat it soon."
"Um, Thorin-"
"We need to get you out of harms way."
"Thorin! The others need our help!"
Thorin blinked before realising he had stopped fighting. Looking back at his company before helping (Y/N) to her feet. They charged beside each other, somehow thinking the same thing as they rushed to Nori's aid. The humans that were still alive saw the pair, and were terrified. Those that had an easy getaway took it, sprinting away as the company cheered. Everyone looked around them, realising that the fighting had suddenly stopped.
"Lass, your arm." Bofur pointed at her.
"Don't worry, that's the only cut they got on me." (Y/N) smiled.
"We must keep moving, there's people after Thorin, and there could be more nearby." Gandalf called out, already heading towards his horse.
"Prepare to leave. And someone tend to (Y/N)'s arm." Thorin ordered.
Her arm throbbed as they continued riding. It wasn't the worst injury she had, nor was it life threatening. But the thing really bothering her was her rapid, beating heart.
It hadn't stopped feeling like this since Thorin came to her rescue. It was that same feeling she had when they had spoke the night before. Why had he run to her like that? She wasn't in that much trouble, and he definitely wasn't the closest person to her. And the way he had called out her name, the desperation, the urgency, she had never heard anything like it. It was plaguing her mind, and although she wanted answers as to why he did that, she was too scared to ask. Perhaps she was thinking too much into it, maybe she had hit her head on the ground and had imagined that look on his face; the look she imagined damsels in distress wished to see when their prince came to save them.
It was another night spent resting, meaning another day was gone from the journey. They were becoming the same now; find a safe looking area, set up whilst others patrol, light the fire, cook the food and decide who's turn it is to stay awake whilst the others reted before switching throughout the night. It was decided that (Y/N) would stay up first, and as soon as that was said, Thorin volunteered himself. He made up the excuse that he was the reason they had been attacked, meaning the others should rest up. No one objected.
Balin grabbed Thorin's arm as he followed after (Y/N)."I hope you're not going for any other purpose than to patrol the area."
"We spoke of this." Thorin sighed, rolling his eyes.
"Yes, we did. Remember what we said."
Thorin went after (Y/N), wishing that Balin hadn't reminded him of his fear. It was true, she wouldn't live forever, and there was nothing that could be done to change it, not that he knew of anyway. Perhaps Gandalf knew something that could make her live as long as him, he would ask, change the story so it wasn't obvious who it was about.
The pair were mostly silent as they patrolled the area, making a full circle of the camp before the sat on a fallen tree trunk.
"(Y/N)-"
"Thorin-"
They spoke at the same time, quietly laughing at each other.
"Please, you first my lady." Thorin insisted.
"My lady? You've never called me that before."
"Have I not? My apologies."
"There is not need to apologise. I am not a lady, not in the sense that you speak of anyway."
"It is a force of habit."
"You have been around many ladies then, I presume?"
He chuckled."No, I've been on the battlefield more than I have spoken to a woman."
"You're speaking to me."
"That I am."
"Thorin, I wanted to ask you why you rescued me like that today."
"Like what?"
"I don't know how to explain it. There was something about how you ran towards me. It was as if I was going to be struck dead there and then, or as if I were a close family member that you loved. Although I am truly thankful, I just...you frightened the man attacking me with just a look in your eyes. "
He couldn't bear to look at her, worried that he would be distracted by her dazzling eyes."I have never felt panic like that since...since I saw my grandfather be killed. This is to do with what I wanted to speak to you about."
(Y/N)'s heart was racing again.
"I have been warned not to fall for you. It is clear that my heart will be broken if I were to ever love you. But it's too late."
"Thorin, what are you saying?"
He glanced up at her, relieved to see her smiling slightly.
"I am saying that...I have never been interested in finding that person everyone longs to find. My life has been full of misery. All I have known is battle, death, and having to look after my people. On this quest, I was supposed to find my home, return my people to their rightful place. I did not intend to find a woman along the way."
"But I'm a human. Why would you fall for me?"
"It has nothing to do with what either of us are. You are like no other woman I have met before."
They were brave enough to face each other, not realising that their faces were getting closer together until their noses brushed. There was no more panic, no more hesitation as they gently kissed each other. It was a sweet, calm kiss. They pulled away, but stayed close, eyes locking before leaning in again. (Y/N) hadn't expected this to be so easy, she was kissing Thorin! His mind was screaming too, ignoring everything Balin had said.
"Thorin, are you sure about this?" (Y/N) whispered.
"Yes." he smiled, and it was the most handsome (Y/N) had ever seen him.
"But, this journey, what if-"
"We'll figure it out."
She couldn't say anything else, he was too happy, and he was happy because of her. Although this was a pleasant surprise, she knew the complications ahead. The biggest one being that she was a human and he was a drawf, he was royalty, she wasn't. The judgement they would face scared her. But as he kissed her again, she seemed to find it hard to point these problems out. It could wait for another time, they had plenty more days on the quest.

I can be the God of your Orgasm.
Loki x reader
Tumblr media
(Not my image)
Summary:Some how ending up in Sakaar ,Valkyrie ends up taking you under her wing,no not her horse Aragorn, for a year ,until some Gods show up.
Word count:1768
Warnings:Language
A/n: Couldn’t end it , last time I touched this was October. Uhm, there’s a picture of Bowie, probably TMI here, but he was the first man , I ever you know over.Double aswell. I’m sorry.
You just a young woman in y/c ,heading to college your average routine ,but you never made it. Instead you had tripped over into a puddle ,but yet again you were decieved ,it was a portal. You hadn't/only left your country ,let alone been on another planet. You didn't think that was even possible;magic nor to be able to breathe on an different planet, well that was what you were told by the government. No you weren't a flat earther, thats bloody stupid. However you felt like the government hid a lot.
Michael Jacksons death,Heath Ledgers death,River Phoenix's death, Princess Diana's death , David Bowie, Obi-wan,it just seemed a little suspicous, not saying it was definitely them covering up the murders but...
Anyways so you fell into the puddle into a some rubbish ,literal rubbish. You had no idea what happened ,when Valkyrie found you she didn't either. God damn Benedict cumpatch stay in america with your fake american accent. Just stay away ,don't really want to be assassainated for being best buds with Sherlock Holmes and Dildo Gaggins.
Valkyrie had felt bad for such a young mortal being in an strange planet, she couldn't bare to bring you to Grandmaster ,to be apart of his orgies. he was indeed a tough warrior much like Dwalin the dwarf from the hobbit, who funfact is the longest living dwarf living up to 300 years, yes irrelvent.
Thus, you lived with her ,you managed to get a part time job as a cook, just so you didn't feel so bad about living with Valkyrie rent free. When I say part time cook ,I mean you just cooked for you and her,you didn't trust this planet. It was lucky when you fell in that puddle the stuff in your backpack didn't get wet,so you had some books to read, and such.
To be far being away from home stuck on an alien planet really did get boring ,you'd hate to admit it but sometimes you had to go to visit Hulk, because he was sorta normal. No he was not but he was okay ,like a destructive toddler but it was better than being alone. Other than that you really missed home ,you missed tv,you missed ice cream.
Pretty much everyday was boring. Well after almost a year of being here ,Valkyrie had brought a guest to your shared apartment thing. The God you had seen on the television a couple years ago. You had been sitting on the sofa reading at the time ,you jumped so hard when the door slammed open, you had looked up to see valkyrie shoving down a dark haired man in chains.
"Uhhh, are you allowed to kidnap people here?" you had questioned ,causing Valkyrie and the guy turn to you ,you had recognised him after a moment of trying to pin point his face. "I don't think that will hold him...h-he's-"
"Just stay away from him ,don't talk to him, don't look at him, hell don't even think about him,I will be back with Thor ,and then we can get you home, Y/n. So pack your things ." Soon as she had mentioned going home you had already started gathering your things,as Valkyrie had left after the God of Thunder. No you didn't go to the big battle compitions and Valkyrie certainly did not tell you she had found Thor ,but it didn't matter you were going home.
It didn't take you long to pack soon, you had your shoes on and everything sitting on the sofa ,twiddling your thumbs, feeling Loki's gaze on you. What's up with in love stories men staring , oh shut up you are just jealous because you can't even get a boyfriend ,stupid scribe.
"she said not to think about you...can you read minds?" you had questioned ,just really because that gaze he had on you made you feel proper ugly ,in which you were not. He had scoffed at you.
"I'm not a witch."
"I never said you were, you are a God ,must be better than having a hammer, it's like a normal hammer with steriods."
"Ah..so you have heard of me," He had smirked to himself ,you had just looked back at you hands before reaching for your bag grabbing your journal and ink, before just scribbing doodles on a clean page.Loki didn't speak after that not until you did again ten minutes later ,probably less time goes slow when the mood is a drag.
"the thing with new York, that was because of Thanos? People have controlled me by making me feel guilty so many times..OH manipulation ,you probably don't want to hear what I have to say,but I can't help it ,i've been stuck here a year the only person I got to speak to is drunk Valkyrie and hulk in which I feel like I am talking to a child. You know what I really wish I was watching Lord of the rings right-"
"You are from earth, how did you end up here?" He had grinned at you, cutting you off, isn't he like a mass murderer? Well he was tricked into doing it ,so more like accidental murderer ,why is he so handsome. Don't be stupid he is a God of course he is handsome.
"Uh..I fell into a puddle then I was here." The God had turned his head away to the floor ,scrunching his eyebrows together in confusion.
"I don't see how that's possible."
"Well it happene-" Yet you were cut off again,as the door slammed open, you quickly turned away back to your notebook,Thor ,Bruce and Valkyrie stood at the door.
You missed what happened first ,Loki having things thrown at him ,and such, you only looked up when he said something about spaceships, seeing Bruce. Your eyes glittered with excitement , Thor saw this. "Oh my! I can't believe it's-2 Thor had shook his head for you not say it. "Radiation scientist,Bruce Banner, damn, now I must say this is much more exciting than a hammer, which you don't have what's up with that? Hey Bruce how you feeling?Green? Darn, imagine being strongest Avenger!"
Thor had scoffed at you,"Does she always talk this much?"Bruce had made his way over to you smiling at you as you stood up. "It is so cool to meet you mister Banner."
"Thank you miss..." "Y/n" He had smiled at you again before turning to Thor ,"see strongest Avenger, yep that's me."
"well then ,let' hope we can get home, just first we are to go to Asgard."
***
"Valkyrie ,I'm going to stay with Dwayne Johnson,I have no fighting skills so it's better if come I after," you had gestured to Korg.
"Alright then, I'll see you if I don't die" And with that she left you with the aliens, smiling up to them.
"The revolution has begun."
***
"Hey, what's this?"
"Thank you." You had stood next to Korg as he had powered down the taser device on Loki's body, you had stood rocking on your balls of your feet in excitement to get home.
"Hey,man. We're about to jump on that ginormous spaceship. You wanna come?" Loki had jumped up,his hair a messy ,from the intense pain he had just suffered, from betraying his brother yet again.
"well you do seem like you're in desperate need of leadership." The smirk was interweaved into his voice, smooth as his greasy hair.
"Why, thank you."
"Hurry up! It has been too long since I've seen the dance seen in the james franco spiderman three!" You rushed forwards grabbing a hold of the mischief makers arm dragging him towards the ship. "Talkative and touchy," Loki just allowed you to drag him, with him supposively being evil, grinning.
***
"uhhh, what's the chances of as all dying horribly? Do you think if i pretend to be dead she wouldn't notice?" Loki was driving the space ship, whilst you sat in the seat next to him,all the alien people sat or stood behind. You really be riding shotgun on a spaceship,it was you or korg.
Loki did not answer you , yet just slightly smiled glancing to you briefly, not a good sign, you'd think with two Gods you'd be fine ,but clearly not. "Hey do you think if Thor had to fight I don't know- AHH" You weren't sure who you meant to say as you face planted into the spaceship's floor,as Loki's flying had stopped so suddenly causing a jolt. You had laughed to your lesson quietly, patheticly in honesty ,covering up how embarrassing that was.
You felt as if you were Mantis ,when Drax had informed her to watch out after she got hit in the face.  All you could think was there's like a bunch of aliens on this ship and it's guaranteed at least 3 have just seen you face plant.  "Okay , that makes me wish that I was on Thors spaceship right now." Your hair in your face, forearms pressed against the cold metal floor.
"What does he have that I don't?" His voice seeped with sarcasm, okay maybe not he was probably just annoyed that a midgardian was aboard and could not shut up.
"He probably can fly this thing better, well it's probably Bruce but that's even better , do you even know how many PHDs he has?"
"Honestly I do not know and do not care."
"Wow that's not very nice . He has..wait I dont -" The smirk on Loki's face was stamped deep, as he pulled you out of your concentration by doing so. "Shut up I bet you say to all your lovers, ‘If you givee a chance I can be the god of your orgasm’” Honestly you don’t know what made you think of that , something tells you it’s to do with a dude that reads a lot of smut named Blake. Actually the author doesn’t know if he does but..
“Thank you darling, for the new material.”
