"It was good livin', those old days. Long before you were around. Well, you were around, but you weren't you - whatever, you get me. There was no Darkness. No Witness. Just huntin' crawdads and stompin' rhinos. Putting out little fires when they came up, not after they'd cooked half the woods. It was good times, those times. Times a fella could relax in. Be carefree. Goof off and only have Zavala get a little mad atcha. I miss 'em."

what made you decide on the bigger changes, like reiner being black, saerys having red marks, lennox being a faerie, faeries having gem eyes...
Rule of cool, baby!
I'm fully indulgent when it comes to redesigns or my own takes on a story's concepts. I love worlds with fantasy creatures, especially when they're something a little different from humans + pointed ears.
For demons, I was inspired by both the unique patterns in other animals like goats, the fact human skin has invisible patterns, and the tattoos Saerys gets when he unlocks his more demonic form. It serves as a bit of foreshadowing for his demon form and gets to add to Saerys' feeling of being "marked" as an outsider from everyone else.
The fairies being sparkly with gemstone eyes is fully because SPARKLES! I am a magpie and love shiny textures and bizarre fantasy eyes. Lennox being made a fairy is because I wanted to add some more non-human diversity to the generals, and everything we learn about fairy magic being powered by community connections suits him perfectly for having corrupted it. It's hard to see, but Lennox's eyes are actually a little cracked to highlight it further.
Then Reiner being black is just because I enjoy colouring a diverse range of skinstones and originally the darkest character was Altea's father, followed by Caligo and Ishara. I thought adding some darker-skinned characters would look nice, and it generally suits Reiner's design with the strong golds and reds.
(I still want to see if I can balance out the skintone range as things go on)

i love seeing everyone's interpretations of gwynplaine and dea so i thought it would be fun to redraw some friends' designs in my own style to compare all the differences! in order the artists are Meee, @elmorinn, @chiropteracupola, @castledock, @gwynsplainer, and @pizza-hats-of-the-world-1882 :D
[ID: Six pairs of portraits in an uncoloured digital ink style, each depicting Gwynplaine and Dea according to a different artist's design. In each, Gwynplaine is set against a black background and Dea against white. Detailed descriptions in alt text. End ID.]

Gale: You never felt the call of the divine, Astarion?
Astarion: Oh, I tried them all. None of them answered.

trying to beat back the part of my brain currently insisting that my place in fandom is earned through creating things, and if i'm not doing that then i'm ""falling behind"" or some bullshit. objectively yes i KNOW it's not true and that's not how this space works. yes i know that fandom isn't a job. and YET here i am anyway stuck with some kind of internal voice that's a cross between imposter syndrome and a shift manager grumbling at me and i'm begging for it to shut up

"there are stranger things i've learned on the outside // separated by an open door // i find it hard to reach the end of my timeline"
timeless!!! my jjk s/i, judas! hes a 25yr old irish fella stuck with a british accent and the innate domain "timeless". hes currently a teacher at a jujutsu school in the west of ireland but has some past ties to the kyoto school.
now. ability lore dump so. timeless. it essentially exposes ppl to infinite time! drives them crazy (almost) every time but requires a ton of energy so it is very much a last resort.
oh and his cursed technique is "phase", which is basically slightly putting himself or other things forward or backwards (out of 'phase') in time. the further out of phase a being is, the more it damages them and is best inflicted using a weapon. he can also use this technique to hide items/weapons on him - even cursed ones. handy!!!
hes technically only a grade 2 sorcerer bc no one has recommended him to upgrade since returning home ~3yrs yrs prior to the events with itadori. judas does return to help with the sukuna stuff once he hears itadori is still alive! and partly cuz he missed the big crisis geto caused the yr before and feels really bad.
and the song is too close / too late by spiritbox! the eternal blue album is a huge insp for him + his look
