Urgent Call for Justice: Refugees in Kakuma Camp Face Police Brutality Amid Peaceful Protests
Refugees in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya, are facing unimaginable hardships as they continue to endure dire living conditions, including a severe lack of basic services such as food, water, healthcare, and education. In a desperate plea for help, many refugees took to the streets in peaceful demonstrations to demand better living conditions and accountability from the authorities. However, their cries for justice were met with violence as police reportedly used excessive force to disperse the crowds, leaving many injured and traumatized.
Kakuma Refugee Camp, home to over 200,000 refugees from across East and Central Africa, has long struggled with overcrowding and insufficient resources. The situation has worsened in recent months, with funding cuts to humanitarian organizations exacerbating the already dire conditions. Refugees, including vulnerable women and children, are forced to survive on meager rations, while access to clean water and medical care remains a daily challenge.
The recent protests were a last resort for many refugees who feel abandoned by the international community and local authorities. Instead of addressing their legitimate concerns, the response from law enforcement has been brutal. Eyewitnesses report that police used batons, tear gas, and live ammunition to disperse the demonstrators, leaving many injured and others in critical condition.
This use of excessive force against vulnerable populations is unacceptable and a violation of human rights. Refugees, who have already fled war, persecution, and violence in their home countries, should not have to face further brutality in places where they seek safety and protection.
We call on the Kenyan government, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the international community to:
1. Immediately investigate the use of excessive force by police and hold those responsible accountable.
2. Ensure the safety and protection of refugees in Kakuma Camp, guaranteeing their right to peaceful assembly and expression.
3. Address the root causes of the protests by improving access to basic services, including food, water, healthcare, and education.
4. Increase funding and support for Kakuma Refugee Camp to ensure that refugees can live in dignity and safety.
The world must not turn a blind eye to the suffering of refugees in Kakuma. These individuals have already lost so much—they deserve compassion, support, and a chance to rebuild their lives. Let us stand in solidarity with the refugees of Kakuma and demand justice, dignity, and humanity for all.
#JusticeForKakuma
#RefugeesDeserveDignity
#StandWithKakuma
Together, we can make a difference.

🏳️🌈 The Rainbow Flag: A Symbol of Love, Hope, and Freedom 🏳️🌈
The rainbow flag is more than just colors—it represents love, unity, and the right for every LGBTQ+ person to live with dignity and freedom. It stands for hope in the face of oppression, strength in times of struggle, and pride in who we are.
But for many LGBTQ+ refugees in the camp, this hope is fading. We are suffering daily—facing violence, discrimination, hunger, and lack of basic necessities. Right now, we need urgent help to survive.
What’s Needed to Save LGBTQ+ Refugees in the Camp:
Food & Clean Water – Many are starving, and access to food is limited.
Safe Shelter & Bedding – We sleep in unsafe, overcrowded spaces, often without mattresses.
Medical Support – Many are sick, but discrimination blocks us from getting treatment.
Protection from Violence – Attacks and harassment are constant, yet justice is never served.
Pathways to Safety – We need help to relocate to places where we can live without fear.
YOU CAN HELP! Whether through donations, advocacy, or simply sharing this message, you can make a difference in saving lives. The rainbow flag is a reminder that we all deserve safety, equality, and love—let’s turn its meaning into action.

Life as a transgender refugee is already a struggle, but for trans kids in the camp, it’s even worse. These young souls face hunger, lack of clothing, and no access to medical care. Many have been abandoned by their families and left to fend for themselves in a hostile environment where discrimination and violence are daily realities.
Right now, many trans kids in the camp don’t have enough to eat, lack proper clothes, and are suffering from untreated illnesses due to the lack of medical supplies. Without urgent support, their health and safety remain at serious risk.
We are calling on kind-hearted individuals, organizations, and allies to help provide food, clothing, and medical supplies for these vulnerable children. Every little bit of support can make a huge difference in their lives.
✨ How You Can Help:
✅ Donate food or funds to help us provide daily meals.
✅ Provide clothing (new or gently used) suitable for trans kids.
✅ Assist in getting medical supplies or access to healthcare services.
✅ Share this post to help us reach more people who can support.
These kids deserve love, dignity, and a chance to live safely. Please reach out if you can help in any way. Your kindness could save a life.

URGENT: LGBTQ+ Refugees Struggling in Unsafe Shelters 🏳️⚧️
Life in the camp as an LGBTQ+ refugee is already dangerous, but our living conditions make it even worse. Most of us are forced to stay in overcrowded, unsafe shelters that barely provide any protection from the harsh weather. Many sleep on the cold ground with nothing but thin cloths, while mosquitoes swarm around, increasing the risk of malaria.
Without proper bedding and mosquito nets, we are constantly falling sick, adding to the struggles we already face daily—discrimination, violence, and lack of basic services. Yet, despite these hardships, we continue to push forward, hoping for a better tomorrow.
We are urgently appealing for support to get mattresses and mosquito nets for our community. These are not luxuries; they are basic necessities that would drastically improve our health and well-being. If you or anyone you know can help, please reach out. Your support can make a real difference in our lives.
Please share, donate, or connect us with organizations that can assist. Together, we can ensure that LGBTQ+ refugees don’t just survive but have a chance to live with dignity.

In regards of the Trump government scraping all trans inclusion in its queer information portion of its websites I have made this thing. Spread the word. Don't let them pretend we never existed.

P.S: Don't like! Reblog! <3
EDIT: Well this got a lot of attention! I got a few users asking to print or repost my art and I am unimaginably grateful to everyone's interest, especially since it's a really simple drawing I made on a whim haha! Anyone who is looking to print these out to hang or hand out or repost on another platform is free to do so, although I ask you to credit me and let people know it's from my Tumblr profile! If anyone wishes to do anything else with my art or post and wants to clarify what I consent to then they can message me privately and I'll explain! <333 all my love to my queer siblings
EDIT: I made an LGBTQIA+ version with a focus on trans and intersex folks, it's on my pinned if you prefer this version of the acronym.

The Beauty of a Rainbow
There’s something magical about a rainbow—a fleeting masterpiece painted across the sky, a reminder of nature’s brilliance. Each color blends seamlessly into the next, creating a breathtaking display of vibrancy and harmony. From the deep red of passion to the serene violet of wisdom, every hue has a story to tell.
Next time you see a rainbow, take a moment to appreciate its beauty, its symbolism of hope, and its gentle reminder that even after the storm, light and color always return.

When Hate Is Loud, Love Is Louder
Life in the camp is tough, especially for us in the LGBTQ community. We face discrimination, violence, and rejection every day, but we cannot let hate define us. Instead, we must support each other, stand together, and create the love and safety we deserve.
Even in the darkest moments, kindness, unity, and resilience can be our greatest strength. Hate may try to silence us, but our love, our courage, and our existence will always be louder.
Let’s keep lifting each other up—because no one should have to face this alone.
