Additionally, I put characters into these groups based on aesthetics and concepts mostly (with a bit of their personality relating to concepts). Enjoy X

Came up with this idea when I was listening to Straykids and thought 'Will Scarlet would eat this concept'. Disclaimer: if your fav kpop group is not on here I do not hate them. Additionally, I put characters into these groups based on aesthetics and concepts mostly (with a bit of their personality relating to concepts). Enjoy X

The Hobbit Characters as Family Members

Gandalf

Sneaks off with the kids to smoke the good stuff and grab ice cream. Will definitely say statements like " [BLANK] was actually a good person" and watch the chaos as the whole family starts arguing with each other.

Bilbo

Teenage angst of wanting to be left alone in his room when his mum's friends come over. Will be the older brother who gets pretends to not be interested in the latest drama you tell him, but is secretly invested. Becomes the second mum.

Ori

The baby. Who gets picked on my the older cousins. Also the grandparents favourite and its as obvious as the sun rising each morning. Definitely eats crayons.

Nori

The uncle who spend more time in prison than at family BBQs. Will give the kids the best presents at Christmas only to be arrested moments after them being opened as he stole all of them.

Dori

Wine mum who spends Friday nights getting drunk and dancing to ABBA. Everyone ends up sneaking out the house until he crashes out on the sofa. Will force you to eat second and thirds.

Oin

Gramps wants to go home and go to bed during family gatherings. Will give the kids toffee sweets as if he was going a drug trade. Low-key a pranker.

Gloin

Be prepared to be compared to his son 24/7. In fact everyone will. Always plans the annual family camping trips that only he is excited for (and to show off Gimli's new survival skills).

Dwalin

Tries to be intimidating but all the kids see through it, and are able to manipulate him to do anything they want. He is definitely the favourite uncle. Will catch him getting a make over from his nieces regularly.

Balin

The grandpa that had the grandkids every weekend for 'the parents' benefits' (definitely not to spoil his grandkids as much as possible). Will sooth them to sleep by talking about his war stories. Allows his grandkids to braid his beard.

Bofur

The dad that stopped mentally maturing at 16. That will also mean that having arguments with him will be like having an argument with a sassy high schooler. Cry laughs at fart jokes.

Bombur

There at family gatherings for the food, and for the food ONLY! Is also another favourite among the kids in the family - anything they want to eat he'll make it.

Bifur

I can see him as the dad that starts drilling at 7am on the weekends. Terrorises the mum by bringing frogs and bugs into the house. Definitely hides with the kids when mum gets mad.

Thorin

The girl dad that falls asleep while this daughters are giving him a makeover. Pretends to be strict in front of mum, but as soon as she turns her back he gets his daughters anything they want.

Fili

The older brother goes into your room just to fart or knock things over. Will put you into a headlock or RKO you. If a guy hurts you they're done for. Your biggest opp and biggest supporter.

Kili

The little brother that is annoying by always wanting to hang out with you. Always flirts with your friends, but has zero 'rizz'. Definitely mum's favourite.

The Witcher Characters as Family Members

Disclaimer: this is just some silly fun and is not to be taken seriously! This is how I would see them, but others will see them differently. Let me know how you would see them as family members X

Jaskier - The yapper. Also the one who starts singing randomly (a.k.a the theatre kid cousin).

Geralt - The dad that wants to be anywhere but a family gathering. Also works on his car every Saturday or mows the lawn, especially if neighbours are arguing outside.

Yennifer - The wine aunt who you rarely see, becoming family folklore. I can see her being someone who would bring up politics during family dinner and ruin the whole evening for everyone.

Ciri - Still put on the kid's table despite being over 18 at this point haha. Also the one who would be going into her sibling's room to do a deep dive on the most recent titok drama.

Marigold - The spiritual auntie that has a crap load of crystals and does tarot reading as a side hustle. Makes edibles brownies and normal brownies, but gets them mixed up and brings the edibles to the family function.

Vesemir - Boasts about being good at BBQing, and refusing anyone to help him cook food. Grounds you if you say he looks like Hulk Hogan.

Coen - The uncle who teaches the kids swear words. Definitely pulls his nieces and nephews out of school for ice-cream and shopping.

Antagonists, Anti-heroes and Villains - Who are my Favourites?

How I Would Spend a Day with Characters from LOTR (in this world)

Hello wandering traveller! Back at it again with these oneshots/imagines. I have done Bilbo and Gandalf on my Hobbit one. Enjoyyyyyy :)

Disclaimer: these are MY opinions, you're welcome to add on your ideas as well, as long as you remain respectful.

Merry - Wherever Merry is, Pippin will no be far behind haha. I do think, though, that he could get quite competitive when playing games, so I would introduce him to **the arcade** (and hopefully he can be my good luck charm).

Pippin - A buffet and bottomless brunch cocktails. Although, I do feel like we would be chucked out of the restaurant(s) from Pippin eating them out of business. It would turn into a sort of pub crawl but restaurant/café version.

Sam - similar to Bombur where we would be making food for each other; cooking rather than baking compared to Bombur though. Trust me, my smashed garlic potatoes will alter his brain chemicals, and it will be the only form of potato he will eat for months.

Frodo - Where I'm from I'm surrounded by multiple woodland areas as well as farms, so it would have a familiarity of the Shire for him. There is this one woodland area with a large pond in my middle of it which I would take him to and read/ chill. What's so cool about this place is that in the spring, the woodland floor is covered in a sheet of bluebells - stunning!

Aragorn - For me, Aragorn is one of the tough ones, which may come across as surprising. But I think going on a hike would be pretty neat considering he is a ranger. However, I think the best hikes are ones which span across several days, so I'm not too sure.

Boromir - Big bro energy fr. I feel like I would wanna show him wrestling matches like RAW, Wrestlemania, Money in the Bank etc. I think it would be cool if we could replicate **safely** parts of matches - similar to sibling play fighting I guess.

Faramir - just give him a hug... he needs ones seriously. I would honestly dote on this guy so hard and just baby him, letting him choose what we can do next and whatnot.

Eomer - He is also a difficult one for me, especially as this if based in this world and not Middle-earth. I think chilling at home and bed rot, binge watching that one guy from tiktok/instagram who help horses with infected hooves.

Eoywn - As I mentioned I live in a very nature-centred place, and a couple of areas have horses which you can go up to and pet. So it would be nice to go on a woodland trail and see if those horses are out, and then go to the viaducts which are close by as well (I really like trains haha).

Gimli - If I remember correctly, in the books after the one ring is destroyed, he goes back to this one cave that had really pretty gems and crystals in it (this is a very, VERY loose description). I think that taking him into London (which he would coo over the skyscrapers and old buildings anyway) to museums with a geology room/ geology-specific museums would be a great day out with him.

Arwen - Get married???? In my dreams haha. This is going to sound quite out of cannon, I suppose, and do gardening together. Hear me out: she comes across as someone who adores nature from animals to plants. So, planting a veggie patch by day and then feeding badgers and foxes at night would be a fun day to spend with Arwen.

Galadriel - I would be hella awkward around her cause HAVE YOU SEEN HOW BEAUTIFUL SHE IS??!! I feel like she would be curious about this world in general, so there could be so many things to tell/show her. Definitely show her specific areas like London or the Beach etc. On the other hand, I would whip out my whiteboard and go into detail about any of my historical hyper fixations.

Haldir - Get married 2.0. Honestly, I would like to take him to the seaside, considering he hasn't gone anywhere much out of Lothlorien. I think it would be out of his comfort zone for sure, but after a while he will enjoy it... and definitely love fish and chips (I'll make him if I have to haha).

Elrond - I know this diva is as gossipy as Gandalf fr. Time to whip out the old whiteboard again, and go through a very thorough presentation on Gorl World (photos, strings, pin...all of that). Oh, and bring out the popcorn cause there are 11 years of drama to explain.

Legolas - Elves are known for their literary culture, art and music, so I think it would be cool to take him to places like the National Gallery. Alternatively, I could easily spend the day with him going through different genres of music, and creating his own playlist.

How I Would Spend a Day with Characters from the Witcher

Hello wandering traveller! I did this with the Hobbit characters, so I thought why not have a stab at it with the Witcher characters. Not all of them are here, just the ones I like. So, if there are any you want me to do that I haven't done, I can do a part 2.

Geralt - If were are going with being in the Continent, I would want him to teach me basic Witcher training and signs. Also, trying to get him to talk about his experiences fighting monsters he's killed or un-cursed, although it might be easier having that conversation with Vesemir. If were were in this world, I defo would want to take him to a museum, especially if it is heavily archaeological or weapon based (not me nerding out on swords at all haha).

Ciri - This girl needs a damn break from running away from people for 5 years. Girls' day in: making an unhealthy amount of biscuits and cakes, getting take out and having a movie marathon or creating silly PowerPoint presentations and showing them to each other. I know that Freya Allen (who plays Ciri) is amazing at art, so I would be a cool headcannon that Ciri is also good at art, so we could have fun drawing competitions for our girls' day in.

Jaskier/Dandelion - He can write lyrics and I can write stories (decent enough haha). I think what would be cool is having a chill day, perhaps by a river bank underneath a large willow tree with a picnic (defo not a date (>ᴗ•)). He would write a song, and I would make a story out of it, and I would make a short story that he can turn into a ballad. I think that would be quite cool.

Yennefer - As much as I love her I would be a bit scared to be around her, and not sure how to act just in case he turns me into something unnatural. But, if we were good friends, I think a wee shopping spree would be nice, and pick out outfits for each other. A bit like that challenge where someone has their eyes closed and is told to stop randomly as a piece of clothing which they will have to wear.

Regis - I will always say this when Regis comes up in any conversation (whether he is related to it or not) he is my favourite character in the books by far. I would most likely start geeking out about vampires to him, and all the different ones we have in this world compared to the continent. I would likely make myself look like a tryhard idiot, but I think Regis would be interest in it. We probably would have an indepth conversation about higher vampires, and their culture.

Triss - I don't know why, but whenever I think of Triss I think of bunnies, so I mostly likely take her on a girls' day out to a sanctuary with a variety of rescue animals (bunnies are a must though haha). I feel like she would not be keen on zoos that much, even if they are to help protect endangered animals - though I think she would like seeing the different animals our world has.

Vesemir - As I mentioned, it would be easier to ask him about his experiences being a Witcher than towards Geralt. Again, if I was in the Continent I would be eager to help him make elixirs and learn the basics in the alchemy of oils and poisons. If in this world, I would get this man down to a tea room and have a good old cuppa... that man is old and needs his rest with tea and scones.

Protagonist, Heroes and Superheroes: Who are my Favourites?

Hello wandering traveller! I'm back again to yap; this time about SOME of my favourite protagonists. This feels strange to me as I gravitate towards liking villains and anti-heroes more that the good guys haha.

The Hobbit:

I don't need to say anything for this one.

He's my adopted grandpa in my delulu mind. I honestly think I have a soft spot (NOT IN A ROMNTIC WAY) for him.

Honestly, for a good two years I was a Fili over Kili typa gal, but lately my brain chemistry altered and now I have a growing love for Kili. I do think he is still a bit cocky for my liking - but love is blind so I will ignore it haha.

Lord of the Rings:

This is also part of the Hobbit section as well, but Gandalf the Grey is a wee tinker isn't he? Also, Gandalf the Grey over Gandalf the White any day of the week - I think he got too serious (even though he got upgraded to the highest wizard which does make sense but still).

I don't need to say anything for this part 2.

I tried to find a memeable/funny image for Arwen, but she's just inhumanly beautiful in every picture haha. Hot take, I definitely prefer Peter Jackson's adaptation of Arwen than the original as she has more of a story rather than be mentioned a couple of times throughout the trilogy.

The Witcher:

It's Henry Cavill. What more? I think even though he is more (or tries to be) neutral as a Witcher is conditioned to be, I'm adding him on the good side. He also does a lot of heroic acts which would deem him being a sort of hero.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, he is my favourite character in the Witcher series by a long shot! If there is anything I remember from the books, it would be him talking about his drinking (blood as he is a higher vampire) problem which caused his misses to leave him and ruin his life. It is more funny when you read it for the first time as you never expected that from a vampire.

Marvel:

This one is really hard cause I like quite a lot of the characters so I might have to do a part 2 for this one.

It would be a sin if I didn't put this image in. So, Blade has been my favourite marvel character, and my favourite character in general since I was a wee one. I remember watching Blade II when I was 6 (at an age where I really shouldn't have been watching it), and it was the only thing that calmed me down after I almost chopped my thumb off. That is another story to tell - one of my lore drops.

Another character who I've loved since I was still in nappies. I thought, and still think that he is one of the coolest characters in any comic book and film adaptations.

"He's the best guy arouuuuund" "What about the people he murdered?" "What muuurrrdddeerrrr?" I'm putting him here cause I want to; Bucky started out good and ended up good in the end. I will defend this guy at all costs!

Star Wars:

TBH despite liking all of the characters in Star Wars, Princess Leia is one of the few protagonists that I really like. I do remember when I was a kid trying to copy her hair styles and outfit haha. She's an icon, she's a legend and she is the moment.

Another fashion icon (haha jks). C-3PO is my spirit animal.

Foundation:

I honestly am inspired by her to get better at math (even though I left school 5 years ago) as she is insanely skilled at mathematics. She seems like one of a few in the series that is not insane in some shape or form.

Harry Potter:

Give him to me now please. Also another character I don't need to explain why he's one of my favourites.

He's just a walking teddy bear with a heart of gold. Also, get this man a baby dragon.

Does Anyone Else Experience This?

Hello wandering traveller! Today I want to share an experience I have been having frequently when it comes to reading, which I feel kinda embarrassed about. As I mentioned in a post way back when, I got genuinely sad after finishing the Hobbit. Yes, the fact that 3 of my favourite characters died did not help, but I was also sad that I was saying 'good bye' to the rest of the characters. In fact, leaving Middle-Earth to return back to reality makes me feel low - not depressed as such, but I just feel empty and lost for a day or two.

I've started to notice this pattern with other books I read, and I've just put it down to being very emotionally invested in the characters and the fictional world I get transported to while reading. A form of escapism you could say.

However, I thought this would only apply to fiction books.

I was wrong.

Yesterday I finished reading a book on the history of pirates (very interesting btw) and I experienced the exact same thing! I don't think I could have been as emotionally invested as there wasn't a set of consistent characters throughout (I do romanticise pirates even though I shouldn't hehe), and I found it more difficult to read as it is a very factual-heavy book. Yet I was still sad after I finished. And I can't find an explanation good enough other than escapism. Is there another explanation for this?
