Not my normal post sorry, but as some of you might not know, I'm a selective mute. If you don't know what that is, here's a nice web page for you!

I don't have anyone in my life I can say this to, so please listen. Recently, I started dual enrollment, meaning I'm taking high school and college classes. Cool, right?

Sadly, I quickly got confused on which classroom was mine once on campus, so I asked a teacher in charge of the section of campus we were at. She told me where to go, but afterwards she told me "I know you like to do your little thing and not talk. But on campus, you need to."

This lady is like, the MAIN lady when it comes to who accepting people into dual enrollment, so I'm petrified.

I mean, my teacher (I'm taking a photography class) was chill with it, my classmates weren't bothered, and everyone seemed relaxed with me using other ways to communicate other than words. I'm not a perfect example of someone who's selectively mute, I'm more confident, I'm brave, I like to keep a smile on my face. I use sign, I write my words down, I type them if I have to. I'm doing my very best to break out of this.

When she said that to me, my heart just snapped, now I have to work extra hard, make my teacher extra happy, bring a smile to my classmates face everyday- because if I'm going to be the blueprint for selective mute kids wanting to get into dual enrollment I really got a sell it.

I just wanted to say, that if you are struggling with your gender identity, and you're having a hard time finding a label for yourself, don't be anxious about it. Everyone has a different brain, and a different identity to go along with it. Your version of being male, female, non binary, gender fluid, ect. Is entirely different from whatever anyone else who uses that label. You may use that label, because the way it's described resonates heavily with you- but the truth is, you're not gonna fit entirely into that definition. A label is just something people use for comfort, or community, so don't feel pressured to find one for yourself. This is the same for sexuality, and includes straight and cis people as well. No human has the same brain.
