Dick: i remember when i was a kid, and Bruce had just taken me in while trying to track down the guy who killed my parents.
Dick: he knew i needed the closure of bringing him to justice so he had to train me up pretty quick.
Jason: yeah you were allowed out almost immediately, but when he took me in i had to go through like, a massive training course until i was even allowed out on patrol. even longer until i was allowed to actively engage with criminals.
Dick: yeah he was wary with you; to be fair i got punched a LOT in those early days
Jason: a lot of damage to the head would make sense for you, honestly
Dick: oi-
Tim: i mean i did have training, but it was kinda moot because i was active as Robin throughout the whole thing anyway. i just showed up completely unprepared and wouldn’t leave B alone.
Jason: it is interesting how different all our experiences were with Bruce’s training.
Dick: *hums*
Tim: yeah
Damian:
Damian: i came pre-assembled.
the others:
Damian:
Damian: well i did-
Tim: like an ikea flat-pack.
Damian: like a what now
-later-
Bruce, eating lunch: what is this
Jason, holding Damian by the scruff of his neck: behold, a SJÖRAPPORT
Bruce, so tired: …ok. sure.

Eddie Diaz who is frayromantic when it comes to women!!!
He feels romantic attraction to begin with but as he gets to know them and become closer, that attraction dissipates.
He is either demiromantic with men or Buck is the only man he's ever been attracted to sexually and romantically.
So he's pretty much straight apart from when it's Buck.
So either demiromantic or heteroflexible (leaning more for heteroflexible and it makes more sense).
His anxiety about giving Christopher a good stepmother and his undiscovered frayromanticism probably heightened each other and made trying to stay in a relationship unbearable. Like literally had a panic attack and fainted unbearable.
And then still proceeded to get into more relationships after that, literally just repeating the cycle. His judgy ass parents probably didn't help with any of it either.
Until, one day, probably some time during pride month, he saw stuff on Instagram about different sexualities and genders and thought to himself, "why not learn about them." So, Eddie read through the slides and moved onto the next post to continue reading.
These were about the A spectrum.
When he read the definition of Frayromantic, he just sat there, staring at his phone screen and thinking back to all of his relationships after Shannon.
It made sense. Why he felt that way after confirming he was dating the person. It would either last like just over a month or a couple days depending on how much he already knew his partner to begin with.
He didn't want to accept it yet though. It probably wasn't right anyway. Maybe he's just being stupid and all it is is that he hasn't found the right partner for him who could also help co-parent Chris.
He didn't confirm anything until he spent a year pondering about it.
Finally, he was half comfortable labelling himself as Frayromantic.
At this point, he just stopped dating women because he didn't want to commit to a relationship only to just break up a week later.
It also wasn't a great thing having women constantly enter and leave Chris' life. He would befriend them and then have to say goodbye so soon. It wasn't fair on him.
A bonus was it helped ease his anxiety a bit about finding a suitable co-parent.
Eventually, he started realising he had feelings for Buck but this just confused him even more because he's only attracted to women. He's never been attracted to a guy before like this.
He can acknowledge when another dude is attractive but it's not in the same way Buck is attracted to them. He doesn't stare at their ass or anything.
So when his feelings for Buck were finally realised, Eddie had a full on crisis. He's apparently gay and in love with his best friend. But he's still attracted to women. He could be bisexual but that doesn't seem right if it's just for one person.
Obviously, people can have strong preferences so it is still a possibility but, ugh, he doesn't really know.
He can't be bothered to go through another sexuality crisis at that moment so he just puts it all off for another couple months until he can feel another spiral coming.
Google isn't too helpful and neither is Instagram and Facebook definitely won't be. The next best thing he can think of is Reddit since he already knows there's a huge lgbtqia2s+ presence on it.
He goes on a community and explains what he's been feeling and if anyone has any answers.
Many respond with him being bisexual which he's not surprised about but it still doesn't feel right.
There are a few that respond with heteroflexible so, now having found a word for it, he tries to find other people's experiences with it. The more Eddie reads about it, the more relaxed he's feeling and like a weight has been lifted off his shoulders.
Not totally, though. He still has feelings for his best friend who most likely doesn't like him back in that way.
But eventually the two confess and they live happily ever after bla bla bla.

Wade looks like all the wind got taken out of his sails and Logan is immediately up and making his way over.
"Darlin' whats wrong?" Logan asks.
Laura perks up from her place in the couch.
"It's nothing it's just.. it's stupid." Wade grumbles, but it does nothing to hide the scent of upset.
"Obviously it's not nothin'" Logan gruffes.
Wade looks away and Logan sighs before grabbing his face and forcing eye contact.
Wade relents with a sigh, "Vanessa cancelled something came up."
Logan didn't say anything for a moment and Wade took that as a bad sign.
"It's a valid reason I'm not mad at her it's just that I was planning to go eat with her all day. Now I can't which is fine bu-"
Logan cut him off by dragging him over to the couch. "Come here" he grumbled as he pulled the mutate down with him.
Wade spluttered but was helpless but to be dragged down. He landed in Logan's lap and was quickly caught in a bear hug.
Wade squirmed but was ignored.
"I know how much you hate change, you don't have to explain yourself to me. Life sucks stuff happens doesn't mean you can get a little pissed about it."
Wade opens and closes his mouth a few times searching for something to say. He comes up with nothing and just relaxes into Logan's hold.
Laura scooches over and nuzzles in next to them as well.
Wade desides he's ok spending his evening like this instead.

buck realises he's in love with eddie, panics and immediately starts inviting ravi along to all their one-on-one hang outs to act as a buffer. eddie at the end of a shift is like hey you wanna grab breakfast and buck with hearts in his eyes is like y-yeah I would love to I love breakfast a normal amount (kill bill sirens playing in his head) HEY RAVI you're coming to breakfast with us. ravi: i... am? buck: it's not optional
it takes ravi all of five minutes to clock that he was not invited along solely for his sparkling personality but he watches buck sweating through his tshirt and is like you know what it's fine buck needs this, plus buck keeps buying him food to make him stay and as we know ravi will never turn down a free meal
meanwhile eddie is watching buck drag ravi around everywhere and pay for everything and he's adding up 2 + 2 = 5. he corners ravi alone one day and tells him look you're both adults I'm not going to tell you what to do or threaten you- ravi: ... thanks I think? eddie: I just want to make sure you aren't messing him around because he has this habit of falling into relationships when someone wants him without thinking about what he actually wants and he's (choked up) he's such a great guy he deserves the world
ravi: ok cool. btw who are we talking about
eddie: buck. you're dating buck
ravi: I'm going back to b-shift
(needless to say this lasts for like one week maximum before buck snaps and blurts out his big love confession because he can't not share his every thought and feeling with eddie (see also: I didn't know you were thinking about getting a dog))

"I am not packing your kitchen, Buck," Maddie says with a hard set to her jaw and a hand planted on her hip, and Evan sends her a warning look over his shoulder, elbow deep in packing tape and half-folded boxes. Tommy is clearly missing something.
"You found the ring cutter in there with the ladles too, huh?" Snipes Eddie from somewhere in the vicinity of the bathroom, and before Tommy can get a firm grasp on that Eddie's tipping his head back through the open doorway. "C'mon guys, seriously, you didn't pack this shit up before you forced us all to help you pack?" There's an unopened tube of lube in his hand.
"I'm getting things off of walls and that is all, Evan Buckley," comes Maddie's quick rejoinder, and Buck levels them both with a look.
"That could be for normal stuff! Sometimes rings need cutting! Sometimes you need to - lubricate other things!"
It is, of course, the moment Bobby wanders through the unlocked door.
Tommy's still familiar with the cadence of Hen and Howie, ribbing and mocking a form of endearment for them both, so he's not exactly shocked when Bobby just rolls with it and starts listing off the last fifteen calls they've needed it for. None of those things particularly improve the red rising up Evan's cheekbones, but Tommy catches the grin Bobby's hiding while he sets boxes of pizza up at the kitchen table, cleared of the latest seasonal decor Evan had dragged him through three different department stores to find, not that he could be bothered to care when the very existence of them was all it took to shift Maddie's opinion of him from tolerantly friendly to encouragingly approving.
("This loft was a minimalists wet dream before you were in the picture," she'd told him one evening, after she'd manipulated him into admitting he was terrified this didn't mean the same thing to Evan as it did to him. "He started nesting a month after my wedding, Tommy.")
And now they're here. Watching Evan pretend to be miffed by the teasing while he fights a roll of packing tape.
He's going to miss the upstairs shower, wide enough for two grown men to fit more than comfortably; and the balcony on cooler nights when he could tempt Evan out for a slow dance set to the late-evening traffic; the kitchen island at the perfect height to lift Evan onto and tilt his head up for an angled kiss.
He won't miss the open plan that makes it impossible to do much of anything with a snoring Eddie right below them, the tuba player two doors down who only seems to practice the moment Tommy's head meets the pillow at the end of any random days-long shift, the way the elevator always smells like tuna on Thursday afternoons.
There are things he won't have to miss, of course. Evan, on nights when they just can't make their schedules align well enough to justify the drive time. The extra fluffy towel set Evan had refused to reveal the origin of ("You'll buy your own and leave me, I know you're only with me for my towels."). The pictures plastered to the fridge that Tommy's spent the last few weeks plotting out space for on his own before deciding he'd need a new fridge just to fit them all. The plant he'd bought Evan to appease the grump, the first time he'd dragged him to the farmers market at the ass crack of dawn, lovingly named Herbert. The fancy adjustable bedside lamps Evan had bought the last time he'd caught Tommy squinting down his reading glasses at the book in his hands. Evan.
Christ, he wouldn't have to miss Evan anymore. They'd synched up their schedules more or less as well as they could, but Tommy's spent months now trying to ignore how quickly a sleepless night could turn restful with Evan in his bed - how fitful a night without him there had a habit of being.
Most of the loft is already packed. Evan's wardrobe has been dwindling for weeks now, a box at a time carted from the back of the Jeep up Tommy's drive, through the mud room, down the hall and straight to the closet that had never seen such a shock of color or variety of fabric. They'd sprung for a bigger mattress, once they'd gotten over the sticker shock and remembered how much they'd be saving by paying half a mortgage each with no rent to speak of, and other than the kitchen table most of Evan's other furniture was being donated.
All that really remained were the kitchen supplies Evan hadn't been willing to move until he handed over his keys, a few toiletries, a single drawer of clothes just in case he needed them. Pictures on the walls and stacks of books on the bookshelves - half a decade of life lived in this apartment and most of it was already half unboxed and slowly integrating into the fifteen years Tommy had put into his own solitary life.
Evan finishes taping boxes and makes a beeline for his itemized list, and Tommy has to pretend it's giving him as much grief as Evan's sister and best friend to see the clipboard in action. He's not entirely sure how well he sells it, when even Bobby's shooting him aggrieved looks only to grimace at whatever he finds in Tommy's expression.
And just like that, an hour passes and the pizza disappears; the boxes are loaded into the back of his truck; the kitchen table in Eddie's; and Maddie tugs her brother in for a hug, drags Tommy in for good measure too, kisses them both on the cheek as she leaves; Bobby tucks a wooden box filled with handwritten recipes on note cards into Evan's hand and Tommy pretends not to notice either of their teary eyes; Eddie hefts a six pack out of the otherwise empty fridge and promises to meet them at the house in forty-five.
There's still one picture stuck to the fridge - a candid from the first barbeque Athena and Bobby had hosted after their move, Tommy and Evan backlit by a setting sun, tucked up against each other leaned against a porch railing, and Tommy knuckles at it while Evan does a slow introspective spin to take in the wide expanse of windows and brick. He's still staring when Evan finishes and drifts towards him, hands tucking in at Tommy's waist, chin hooking over his shoulder.
"Is this one staying?"
Evan shakes his head, nose digging into the side of Tommy's neck. "Just wanted to keep it out so it could be the first one we put up."
He remembers the night. Karen had gotten him drunk and added him to the wives group chat. May Grant had stolen half his slice of cake right off his plate and dared him to protest. Jee had spent the entire night calling him Uncle Tommy and thrown a massive fit when she realized he wasn't going home with her to read a bedtime story. Christopher and Denny had spent half an hour trying to teach him how to play Fortnite and then been mystified when he trounced them in Mario Kart. He knows exactly why it's significant to him. "Why this one?" he asks, curving into the cradle of Evan's arms.
Evan's so much better with words than Tommy is, and Tommy's just grateful Evan takes his actions for the things he means with them. "That's the night I knew what our something was gonna be," Evan murmurs, and Tommy tips his chin back and angles his head to catch Evan's lips against his own.

Eddie: Would you tell me what's wrong? You've been mad all day. Buck: You know what you did. Eddie: Come on Buck, just tell me, please. Buck: I had a dream you broke up with me, and you didn't even give me a reason. Just ended our relationship out of nowhere. Eddie, frowning: Buck, we’re not even dating? Buck: Exactly. At least in the dream, you gave me a chance before deciding I wasn’t good enough, apparently. Eddie: Are you saying you wanna date me? Buck: Not if you're gonna break up with me again. Eddie: I won't. Buck: Fine then, we're dating.

eddie’s stretched out on the couch, book in hand, when buck comes in from the kitchen and groans. loud and attention-seeking and annoying.
eddie looks up. “can i help you?”
the sleepy withering glare eddie receives in response gives him cuteness aggression. “i was going to lie down on the couch, but now i can’t because you are.”
biting down on a smile, eddie gestures vaguely at the space in front of him. “yes, you can, buck. there’s plenty of room.” sure, their legs will get tangled, but eddie’s sitting up against the arm, so buck can definitely fit on the other end.
buck’s eyes brighten. “really? you—you sure?”
“yes?” eddie’s not sure what’s unclear here. or why buck’s cheeks are pink all of a sudden.
buck just hums, pleased, and shuffles over to the couch. he turns, maybe to say something? no, he’s—oh. he plants a knee between eddie’s legs and lies down on top of him, fully, like a blanket. head resting on eddie’s chest, arms wrapped loosely around eddie’s sides, contented sigh whispering across eddie’s neck.
this—was not what eddie meant.
but he waits until buck settles against him, and he can’t quite find it in himself to care.
“better?” eddie asks softly.
he feels buck’s mumbled response against his chest more than he hears it, but it seems positive.
eddie sighs. he’s still holding his book, dangling off the side of the couch, his thumb marking the page. it’s easy to let it fall the rest of the way to the floor. easy to wrap his arms around buck’s broad back, one hand buried in his curls. easy to close his eyes and drift.
yes, it’s easy. eddie might just stay here forever.
“forever, buck, if you’ll have me,” he whispers. sleep takes him before he can feel buck’s answer.

Buck grins as the call connects and Eddie's face appears on the phone screen, "I bought a couch!"
Eddie's face goes from confusion to understanding to concern in a split second. "You...you bought a couch..."
And see. Eddie gets it.
When Buck had told Maddie, she had scrunched her nose in confusion, asking why he did that when Buck had a perfectly good couch their mother had bought him. Nevermind that Buck has complained on numerous occasions how much he hates that couch, that wasn't the point.
When he'd announced it to the team at work, there'd been mixed reactions. Chimney had followed suit with his wife, questioning what was wrong with the current one. Ravi had been baffled, wondering why Buck didn't have a couch before. Hen had simply blinked and gone back to her book. Bobby had looked at him in concern, more than likely thinking back to the last time Buck mentioned a couch.
None of them got it though.
They didn't understand why Buck was so excited over a piece of furniture. They didn't understand why he felt so light and free now that he's picked out the perfect one for him. Honestly, it shouldn't have taken him as long as it did.
But the moment Buck told Eddie, his best friend understood why this was such a big deal.
"I did." Buck confirms, smiling still. Eddie sort of looks like a kicked puppy. "But there's a small snag with it."
"Oh?" Eddie is putting up a front, Buck can tell. He wants to be a good and supportive best friend, but he also has no desire to have this conversation.
"Yup. You see," Buck feels his heart flutter, "the couch I've chosen is delayed. Stuck in another state due to certain circumstances."
Eddie's gaze, which had been wandering and drifting, unable to meet Buck's, snaps to him. "What?"
"Mhm," Buck continues, "So I have to wait a bit for it to show up. Not actually sure how long it'll be. But...it's the couch I want, you know? And it's a really good couch. So. I'll wait. For as long as it takes. And when it does show up, I'll be ready to welcome it home."
Eddie's mouth opens and closes a few times. He's not disheartened anymore. Buck can see hope growing in those brown eyes. But he gets it. And that's all that matters.
"Well," Eddie finally says, clearing his throat lightly. There's a small smile teasing at his lips, "Sounds like you made the right choice in couch."
"I know I did."
"Yeah?"
"Absolutely."
"I can't wait until that couch makes it home."
"Me either," Buck takes in Eddie's face on the screen, excited for the day he gets to see him in person, "But it'll be worth the wait. No matter how long."
"Buck..."
"Trust me, Eddie. There's no other couch."
A blindingly bright smile spreads across Eddie's face, "Okay, then. You found your couch."
Yeah, Buck certainly did.

“I’m not gonna disappear, you know,” Eddie says, lowering his mug to meet Buck’s eyes.
“W-what?” Buck stammers, blinking away like he got caught doing something wrong.
“You keep staring,” Eddie says, carefully, “like I'm gonna vanish. Or go back to Texas without telling you or something. I'm not.”
It’s been hours since Buck met him at the airport, drove him home, made him tea. And Eddie’s felt the weight of his gaze the entire time. Buck hasn’t said much, which Eddie isn’t surprised by, honestly. He’s not really in the mood to talk himself. But there’s something quietly devastating about the way Buck is looking at him. Eddie’s not sure what to do with that.
“Sorry,” Buck says.
Eddie sighs. “Don't apologize, it’s not…I don't mind that you’re looking. Just—you know you can talk to me, right?“
“I know,” Buck says. He’s trying to sound casual but his voice comes out just a little unsteady. Enough for Eddie to catch it.
“It’s, uh, it’s not that,” Buck adds, after a beat.
“What?”
“I don't—I don't think you’re gonna vanish. It's just… you look different.”
“You mean this?” Eddie rubs at his chin self consciously.
Buck’s eyes flicker momentarily to Eddie’s face before his gaze drops again. He nods.
After Eddie got the call, he couldn’t help but blame himself. He should have been there. Maybe if he was, Bobby would still be here—with his team, with his family. Not for the first time, Eddie felt like he couldn’t bear the sight of his own reflection. He felt small, useless. He thought maybe it would get easier with time. It didn’t. And with each day, as the guilt grew, so did the stubble on his face—thicker, darker. An awful reminder of the time that passed since Bobby—
Eddie sets the mug down, afraid it’s gonna shatter in his grip.
“You don’t like it?” he asks, and the words taste like ash in his mouth.
“No it, uh, it looks good. You always look good. It’s just—god, it’s stupid.”
“Hey,” Eddie bumps Buck’s foot under the table, keeps it there. “Whatever you’re feeling, it’s not stupid.”
“I’m…” Buck exhales, “I’m not sure if you’re real.”
Eddie opens his mouth, then closes it.
Buck shrugs. “Told you it’s stupid.”
“No! No, um, I—what do you mean I’m not real?”
There’s a moment where Buck doesn’t say anything, just stares at his own hands on the table, fidgets with his fingers. Eddie waits. Doesn’t push.
Eventually Buck speaks.
“After the lightning strikes, after the uh—“ Buck clears his throat, “the coma. I had this thing I used to do every morning. A-a checklist. To make sure I wasn’t dreaming. That I was still me.” Buck’s eyes stay locked on his hands, and Eddie desperately wishes he’d look at him again. “Ever since he—“ Buck stops, swallows, sniffs. “I wake up and I pray for this to be a dream. An awful, terrible nightmare. I pray, Eddie. And it’s—“
Buck’s hands are shaking. Eddie reaches out, takes them in his own.
Buck finally looks up. His eyes are impossibly sad and impossibly blue, and Eddie is struck by how beautiful he is. It’s a weird thought to have at that moment, but it’s true nonetheless.
“Sorry, this is so embarrassing,” Buck says, a little wetly.
“Hey, it’s not embarrassing, okay? You’re dealing with it. We all are.”
“Look, I know you’re real. I know that. But also just—everything is so different, you know? Nothing makes sense anymore and you look different. And it’s like—like, how do I know I’m not dreaming?” Buck says. “Does that make sense?”
It doesn’t. But Eddie gets it anyway.
He wraps a hand around Buck’s wrist, lifts his hand up to his face.
“You feel that?”
Buck doesn’t say anything, just looks at him.
Eddie closes his eyes, presses his face into Buck’s hand a little more.
“I’m here, Buck.”
Buck’s hand starts moving on his face, careful fingers trace his cheeks, his jaw, his chin. Eddie’s breath catches when a thumb ghosts over his bottom lip.
“You’re here,” Buck says, voice barely a whisper.
Eddie nods.
“He’s really—“ Buck's voice cracks. “He's really gone.”
“I know,” Eddie says, because what else is there to say?
Eddie’s eyes sting. He lets go of Buck’s wrist and places his hand on Buck’s shoulder, thumb gently grazing the base of his neck. He wishes he could press his lips to his temple, like he does with Christopher. He doesn’t. Instead, he pulls him in, presses their foreheads together.
They stay like that, breathing together, until their eyes are red and their cheeks are wet. Eventually Buck pulls away, wiping his eyes with the sleeve of his cardigan.
“Thanks,” Buck says.
“For what?”
“I don’t know. For—for being here, I guess.”
Eddie wants to tell him that he’s always going to be here. But that’s not true. He's leaving in a few days. He’s always leaving.
“Hey, you have a razor here somewhere, right?” is what he says instead.
“Come on, you don’t have to do that,” Buck protests, and Eddie is pretty sure he catches a small hint of a smile on his face.
“Yeah,” Eddie says. ”I think I do.”

The official still and the video of them shooting the scene that it's from has me thinking (yes it's a five second clip and one photo but I once wrote an entire theory about why Diego Hargreeves speaks Spanish like a native speaker based on a single word said by an extra, overthinking these things is what I do).
Buck is the last out of the engine and lags behind everyone else. His hair is unstyled and his turnout coat is open. We've been all expecting his spinning out to take the form of him being reckless as hell and presumed he's going to be harsh on Ravi again. But what if it's the opposite.
Buck is so heartbroken and so overwhelmed with his abandonment issues he sinks fully into depression to the point of not caring about anything anymore. Like, he does his job fine, well even, because he's still Buck, but the passion and the (pardon the pun) fire is gone. He's just going through the motions, does whats needed, what he's told to do, but that desire to help people and sace everyone that makes him go above and beyond isn't there anymore. He will still be reckless with himself at times, but it's not motivated by caring so much that he puts others above himself like it usually is, it's due to lack of care for himself whatsoever, because everything in his life suddenly feels so pointless and meaningless that he nothing, including his own safety, matters. It's not just thinking he matters so little to everyone else that he's expendable, it's fully mattering to himself so little that he's expendable.
No matter what you do, bad shit will happen. You can do your best to be a good person, someone of worthy of love, but that doesn't stop your brother from dying from cancer, doesn't stop your sister getting abused, doesn't stop you from getting pinned under a ladder truck and almost losing your job and chosen family in the aftermath, doesn't stop your best friend getting shot, doesn't stop your sister getting post partum depression so bad she almost dies, doesn't stop you getting hit by lightning, doesn't stop your sister getting kidnapped, twice and, most importantly, it doesn't stop everyone from leaving you over and over again. No matter what you will end up alone. So really what's the point?

The way Buck is treated is absolutely heartbreaking.
On the surface yes, maybe the 118 does look like a found family unit. And most of them have a good family bond with one another. But not with Buck. (Long rant below the cut)
Buck has the biggest heart out of anyone on the show. He is constantly going out of his way to help people. This is particularly prominent with Eddie, but he does this for so many characters.
He lets Hen, Eddie and Chim stay with him during the lockdown, never asks them to help pay rent, and then later lets Albert stay with him with no complaint.
He is constantly babysitting Chris and later Jee while their respective parents go do other things, and while he clearly loves spending time with them this is definitely a massive favor on his part because babysitting kids is hard work.
He is always there to support them when they need it.
He’s the one that prompts them to check on Bobby in season 1.
He is there for Chim as best he can when Maddie leaves.
When Maddie shows up at his apartment in Season 2 he doesn’t get angry with her for essentially breaking into his home and helping herself to a bottle of wine. And instead helps her settle down with a safe new job and becomes her shoulder to cry on during this period.
He drops everything when Eddie asks for his help, when Eddie mentions issues with childcare and paperwork for Chris Buck introduces him to Carla.
When Eddie has to bring Chris to the station Buck calls ahead so Bobby can get permission.
When Eddie gets shot Buck takes over Chris’s care without prompting.
When Eddie has issues with parenting Chris he calls Buck for help and Buck helps.
When Eddie has a meltdown and takes a bat to the wall, not only does Buck drop everything and run to help him, he also goes further by taking eddie to see the kid they saved the day he was shot.
Whenever Eddie needed anything Buck was there.
When Eddie desperately needed a sub letter so that he could move Buck went and took over the lease.
When he found out Eddie was moving he went and did what he could to help him despite being devastated.
Whenever anyone needed anything, Buck was there. And Buck was always happy to do it.
But when Buck was feeling abandoned after the embolism no one reached out, instead Eddie dumped Chris on him under the pretense of getting him out and about and stop moping for the day.
When Maddie left, no one thought to ask Buck how he was doing. Instead they focused entirely on Chim. And when Chim punched Buck no one at any point stood up for Buck, instead going on about how Chim is under a lot of distress right now as though Buck isn’t also feeling the loss and worry of his Sister up and leaving.
When Buck filed the lawsuit they almost all immediately went and put all the blame on Buck. Hen was the only one to point out that they were all Buck had, that he had no other family outside the 118. Despite that they still punished him, Eddie taking his anger out on Buck because the lawsuit meant Buck couldn’t bail him out and he couldn’t spend time with Chris and never once saying he missed Buck too. He was pissed because Buck couldn’t drop everything and help him. He was accused of being reckless and impulsive and using their own issues for his own gain and for being selfish and stupid and exhausting despite the fact that he was being treated unfairly. He was hurt, and alone and just needed a hug.
When Buck found out about Daniel and distanced himself from Maddie, Chimney started borderline harassing Buck trying to get him to talk to her, despite a) Buck having had a major bombshell dropped on him, getting his entire life put into a new perspective based on this information, and finding out why his parents treated him the way they did and so needing to process, and B) Buck repeatedly setting boundaries and saying he needed space to process and he’d talk to Maddie when he was ready. Chimney completely ignores Buck’s boundaries as though what Buck needs or wants doesn’t matter because Maddie is upset and wants to talk to him, and only her desires and emotional well being have any level of importance and despite asking for space she literally ambushes him at work to force a conversation he is not ready for. And no one else tries telling Chim to leave Buck alone, and then Eddie only has a half assed conversation with Buck despite being his so called best friend, where he basically dismisses Buck’s feelings and tells him he’s over reacting.
When Eddie was leaving and Buck was upset he was repeatedly accused of making it about himself, being selfish, unreasonable, unsupportive and a jerk when he literally just found out from nowhere that Eddie made a down payment just overheard his best friend basically dismiss their friendship (“I have no ties here, everything that matters is in Texas”) he gets judged and berated for being upset, as though he’s not allowed to have feelings, and when he tries to apologize for his snarkiness gets once again berated and when he finally tells Eddie that he took over the lease and thus he can move, aka the ultimate supportive action, not once does Eddie apologize.
When Buck breaks up with Tommy no one bothers to really check in with him on a deeper level, instead they dismiss his wants by stealing his phone so that he can’t call him and then no one brings it up again despite him clearly still being devastated for every following episode.
When Buck gets SA’d by the therapist he is immediately getting made fun of, and accused of being a manwhore and essentially blamed for being assaulted. No one ever, not once, bothers to wonder if he’s doing alright.
And when Buck is still waiting for Abby to come back rather than being supportive or anything like that he gets laughed at for living in his girlfriend’s apartment and being dumb enough to think she’ll come back.
When Eddie gets a new friend he immediately starts spending all his free time with that friend and never inviting Buck, even if they were planning something Buck would enjoy, instead asking if Buck can babysit (his kid is 14/15 at this point and just because he has CP I still think he can spend a couple of hours home alone. He’s not bedridden or anything.) and basically ignoring his supposed best friend in favor of his shiny new friend.
Whenever Buck needed anything he was laughed at, belittled and dismissed. They constantly take advantage of his kindness. Buck gives and gives and gives to them and gets nothing back. He is only wanted when he can be useful and when they need him. They take and take and take and the second Buck needs even a small amount of empathy or help he gets accused of being selfish, needy, exhausting, of making everything about him, of overreacting. He is essentially told, over and over that he is not allowed to have feelings or boundaries. He is not allowed to need help he can only give help. He is only valued when he can do something for someone else and godforbid he ever ask for the same consideration because otherwise he’s being needy. He makes everyone else his priority and never is he anyone’s priority in return.
Until Tommy anyway, he finally had someone who would take care of him, who acknowledged his feelings and showed him they were valid, who clearly adored all of Buck and never asked him for anything and indulged in his quirks and who was happy to be there for him, who complimented him and who overall clearly adored Buck. Even before they were dating when Tommy saw that Buck clearly was feeling left out he went over to his place to apologize, despite not actually doing anything wrong himself.
I seriously think that if Tommy saw how they all treated Buck he’d lose the delusion that they are basically a family really fast and promptly get pissed on Buck’s behalf. He’d also do everything in his power to help Buck realize that he matters as a person.

ok this is apparently unpopular, but i think the ostark/jlh script "leak" was fake even if bobby's alive (and yes i'm mad about it 💁🏻♀️ poor taste!). i know 911 isn't big on realism, but a funeral doesn't get organised in a day (obviously this post is invalid if they do decide to textually throw it the next day post lab death, but imho it's v unlikely), so even if bobby had somehow survived All Of That, he would have then died due to malnutrition/dehydration/lack of air. the only way they can pull alive bobby off imho is if he's being currently kept at some military base and poked and prodded at (which other people have proposed as A Theory already, ik). my money also is on the show not revealing that bobby's alive until the second half of the last episode of the season (the very last scenes most likely; pre s9 hiatus cliffhanger) - which will give them some time to nicely explore the characters' grief/etc. and associated plotlines first, and can be reasonably explained in-universe as the military/TPTB not wanting to Say anything until they were 100% sure bobby would stay alive. not sure how peter being present on set for ep 17 plays into that, but i'm currently thinking flashbacks (although i like the hallucination theory as well). might be wrong tho

no you know what you guys are right. reverse league son reveal. Jason comes back to Gotham and does his crime lord thing before tentatively starting a truce and returning to the batfam and one day Dick asks who Bruce’s favourite child is.
Bruce: i love all three of my sons equally.
Jason, without thinking: three? what about Damian?
Bruce:
Tim: who the fuck is Damian
Jason, freezing:
Jason:
Jason:
Bruce: *carefully* Jay, who is Damian?
Jason: I have to leave.
-
Jason, on the phone with Damian: so i ALMOST blew it-
Damian: ?! BUT I AM NOT READY FOR FATHER TO KNOW ABOUT ME YET-
Jason: shut the fuck up i’m older than you- and i said ALMOST. i told them that Damian was the name of my imaginary twin back when i was a kid and that i’d just gotten muddled up after the resurrection.
Jason: so you’re in the clear but when we finally do introduce you, we’re gonna have to say that Talia let me name you and i named you after my imaginary twin.
Damian:
Damian: Ahki please do not tell them that.
Jason: no im gonna. you called me a twat last week. so im gonna.
Damian: god forbid a boy try to expand his vocabulary
