Are you ready to return to Derry? ... Again?

Last August we rounded together the few, the mighty, and the brave AKA the remains of the IT fandom and hosted a five year anniversary celebration of our most beloved (or behated) movie: IT Chapter Two! With how successful it was at pumping life & creativity into the fandom (and with a new IT series on the horizon) we're going to do it all again.

This year's celebratory content posting week will last from Saturday, September 6th to Saturday, September 13th. All Losers-centered content, both writing and art, are welcome! The goal is to flood the tags with old fics you never got around to finishing, or art ideas that have been scratching at your brain for years. Additionally, there is no limit for how many works you’d like to post.

More information on how to sign up for posting blocks will be shared in the handy-dandy discord server in the coming weeks. This server is a place to connect with other artists/writers/fans, encourage each other through the pains of creation, or just generally cheerlead each other on! There will be admin-hosted movie nights to stream the original It content, as well as any movies the creators’ AU’s are based on. You do not need to participate in the final posting to join the discord. However, it is a 17+ server due to the nature of It: Chapter 2, which is a Rated R movie.

I noticed the “one way” sign but I didn’t notice the picture under it

The "One Way" sign to Mike's closet is next to THE ESCHER DRAWING

Just saw this great post "It's All Relative" by @eeriesilkworm breaking down the placement of M. C. Escher's famous lithograph "Relativity" right underneath Mike's infamous "One Way" sign:

@eeriesilkworm discusses more of the symbolism of triangles and LGBT people and the concept of relativity to support Mike's internal homophobia arc.

However, what's also striking to me is the clear juxtaposition of ideas here:

A CONFUSING drawing. Gravity itself points in DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. The VERY OPPOSITE of "ONE WAY."

In one sense, they CONTRADICT each other, reflecting Mike undergoing an internal turmoil and indicating that not all is as it seems with him.

The Escher drawing reflects Mike's disorientation of figuring out, well, his sexual orientation. AND it's next to a BIG GIGANTIC SIGN trying to stick to one way.

In a second sense, you can say the drawing depicts how one can go "one way," but end up going nowhere and instead walk around in a circle. You might always be walking forward, but you're not getting anywhere.

Even as you go one way and seem to tell yourself you're moving forward, you are still TRAPPED.

The Mike-is-in-the-closet symbolism is so blatant here that it's more than "subtext." The obvious meanings of these symbols might as well read as TEXT.

These are not random placements; they scream meaning and intentionality. And as far as I can tell they're only compatible with a reading that Mike at this point is in a closet, and walking a path that is a dead-end.
