Renegade is a sweet story that leaves your heart melted. You instantly fall for Jace Taggart, who steps in to help displaced Bronte Cupacaek and her two kids, Lily and Kari, as they deal with a difficult separation and divorce.
The more you learn about Bronte’s past, the more you crave for her to find love again, to believe in herself and find some peace. She finally finds it once more at her grandmother’s old family house, which is next door to the Taggart Big House, a farmland with, if nothing else, horses. While Bronte has her own children, Jace is taking care of his younger brother, who has a TBI that causes him to have the mentality of a child, trapped in a 16 year old body. Jace happens to find Bronte as she arrives to find her grandmother gone, and her car dies right when she finds out that her grandmother is at the hospital nearby. He drives her and her kids to visit, then rallies people to help repair the house. During this whole time, Bronte and Jace are growing closer, enough so that you’re craving for them to finally give in to the sparks that you can feel on the pages.
Bronte’s ex does show up, and some dark revelations are made about Bronte’s youngest child, but it gives us a final few chapters where Jace and Bronte come together beautifully.
Renegade left me wanting more. It left me wanting to find out what happened after the last page. Do Jace and Bronte have their own children, building on to their blended family? Does she eventually start up a bakery or something on her own? I needed to know more. The romance was enough of a slow burn to make sense but heated up fast enough that I kept turning pages for more. It was a great read, and left me wanting the rest of the Taggart Brothers books from Lisa Bingham, which I have yet to find. (I’m going to be scouring thrift stores for them, let me tell you!)
My personal favorite kinds of romance books have a bit more heat than this book had. The spice was lukewarm at best for my tastes. However, that didn’t detract at all from the overall story and plot, which ended up overshadowing the spiciness in this book by leaps and bounds. I’d have killed for a hair more heat for my own spicy palate, but that’s just me.
Overall, the book was amazing and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next Taggart Brother novels from this author! It left me craving more, and was a fantastic cowboy/rancher romance to read!
I've been working on some pieces with the idea of putting Joel Glicker from Addams Family Values into Nevermore with Wednesday... and now I'm sorely tempted to make it into a full fanfic of S1. 🤔 Would anyone read it, do you think??
I fell in love with the new Willow show, and had to do a piece based on the final episode. It was supposed to be more of a Graylora piece but turned into the Battle between Elora Danan and The Crone. The only thing missing that I'd consider adding is Cherlindria's wand.

Question... does anyone else have this headcanon that Joel Glicker survived when Wednesday Addams's attempt to scare him to death, hung around with Pugsley and Wednesday for most of the rest of their lives, then got married and started the next generation in the Addams line???
That moment when you're working on the start of a new book/original story and you realize that the character you MEANT to be the primary male protagonist just got bumped down by a short, curly haired Jewish werewolf with poor socialization skills.
What If...
When they were mine. (AU pt 1)
He remembered when it all started.
It had been innocent... a night of drinking that led to more. They'd all enjoyed it, so they kept doing it. Remus was always on missions... Peter was never around.
No one batted an eye when he'd moved in with them.
Lily would fix his hair for him, pull his black locks back into a bun after brushing the tangles from it. James would smirk, ogling him in his jeans while shirtless and working on his motorcycle.
He had become Harry's other Dad in many ways. He'd play with him, change nappies, bring him to Lily so she could feed him, then actually fed him himself once the kid had started baby foods. He would shift into his animagus form, keeping Harry safe when the baby boy felt unsafe.
He was Sirius Potter. He'd left the name of Black behind him.
Which was why he was there on Halloween of 1981.
The three had never felt that kind of fear in their lives. James had bolted for the door, kissing himself and Lily and telling them to leave, to run.
They'd slammed the door to Harry's room when they heard James's scream.
Lily, her eyes wide, turned. "Transform." she'd muttered, her hair wild around her, like a halo of fire.
"Lils..."
"Sirius Orion Potter... My husband... OUR husband... would not want his death to be in vain." she said, biting back tears as the doorknob rattled. "...Change. Protect Harry. Protect our boy."
He'd been speechless, gripping her hand once and squeezing tightly before shifting down into his dog form. The door had flown off the hinges as he'd growled, scrambling to climb into the crib with a sobbing Harry even as Lily threw her hands out.
"Not my Harry! Please!"
The flash of green and the words of death had caused Lily to scream, her eyes wide as she dropped to the ground, lifeless. Sirius had thought he would gloat a bit, to spout at the infant about how his parents were gone now...
He had not, however, expected the wand to immediately move to Harry. The same voice hissed the same words, and Sirius had howled, his eyes wide as the spell hit Harry at point-blank range.
The blast had been like a small nuclear weapon.
When Sirius came to, all he saw was the charred remains of the nursery. Harry was clinging to him, wailing, sporting a cut over his eyes...
He didn't spare a second to look down at Lily... or to go check on James. For all he knew... more Death Eaters were coming.
He leapt out of the crib, transforming back as he kept his eyes on Harry. Scooping him up into his arms, he shushed the boy quietly, biting back his own tears as he looked up.
A crack like a whip echoed in the air... and the two vanished.
-to be continued
That was the reaction he should've had two years prior when Harry and Ron slammed the flying car into the Whomping Willow. THEN he should've flown off the handle a bit.
Not when Harry was obviously stunned and confused.
Let me start out by saying... I know that Molly Weasley did not have to take Harry in like she did. Well aware of that.
However...
She was FAR from a good mother or good mother FIGURE.
Here's why.
First, and BIGGEST for me... subconsciously or not, she was trying to replace Lily as Harry's mother. I don't think it was just Molly saying that she treats Harry as a son that rankled Sirius, but... Two of his best friends, his FAMILY, lost their LIVES to protect THEIR son. Harry should have had people helping to show him the family he never got to know, not trying to step in and replace them. Aside from that, the moment Sirius stepped into the picture, or REMUS for that matter, Molly should have stepped back some. Those are the people that James and Lily would have wanted to raise their son in their stead. Not Molly Weasley. Sirius or Remus.
He is NOT her SON.
Second, Molly Weasley mistreated her own kids. She put undue standards on them, expecting them to conform to her way. You could see how she gave less of a damn about Ron than his brothers or Ginny. She wasn't even supportive of her entrepreneurs for sons, Fred and George... Damn near anyone else would be beaming with pride at their young wizards being able to CREATE some of the things those boys made at their age... and then opening their own STORE? Arthur was so proud, you could see it. He was proud of all of his children. Molly? Not so much. And she doted on Harry, yes... but she didn't even dote on her OWN sons like that.
Molly overstepped in regards to Harry. A LOT.
Lily telling James to go have a stag party the night before the wedding, but doesn't explain the concept. Sirius, who knows muggle culture but just loves f*cking with James, tells him that it's literally a party with deer. This big deer ritual in the woods... and it's such a good thing that James can TURN INTO a deer because that'll make it so much easier. Remus just shaking his head, Peter just observing nervously. So these three animals and their tagalong were-wizard (let's say it's not a full moon) head into the woods and find a herd of deer... and while James tries to remember what Sirius told him to do, Sirius starts yipping happily and all these deer start BOLTING... James accidentally leading this herd down the streets, all of them bleating, including James who is cursing out Sirius. Why?
Sirius charmed him into being stuck in his animagi form.
Sirius, half drunk on firewhiskey, stumbles from the woods laughing his ass off. Remus follows, shaking his head but cackling all the same. Peter just snickers, following on their heels.
And that's what happened during James Potter's stag night.
