Not sure if this is what they were going for but: consider if there was an @andersoncooper or a @billoreilly in the aftermath of the Civil War? This may be the sociopolitical side of @newsoftheworldmovie yet that seems to be the concept in the film rendition of the book. Although set in Texas, this is truly a story of the South, failed and defeated, yet told on their turf. Although anyone watching the film will recognize evil when it appears, @tomhanks acts as a witness to where this violence and racism comes from — particularly through the role of a paternal guardian to @helena.zengel.official. This is the contemporary commentary we expect from Paul Greengrass, yet this film has much more in common with “The Theory of Flight” (1998) than the line-up of thrillers he’s done since then. Make no mistake, @newsoftheworldmovie has suspense, but Greengrass is significantly more fixated on coping with death. I read this fifteen years ago and enjoyed it then, but I appreciated it exceptionally more now from a totally different viewpoint. I didn’t anticipate getting involved with church hierarchy fifteen years ago, but re-reading Mother Angelica’s biography now, after having firsthand experience with some of the nonsense inside the American Catholic Church, I couldn’t help admire how she stood up to the “mafia.” Before she would achieved worldwide recognition in the religious world via her television company, EWTN, her life was filled with incredible successes that even for atheists who will read this book, won’t be able to help but smile at various segments. Any single one of the key oppositions this woman faced would have been enough to discourage the average person, therefore it’s astounding that the crippled Abbess overcame such obstacles and the rewards she got from doing so. Superior to Biden's own 2008 memoir, Witcover delivers the detailed biography. Although Witcover writes from a Democratic friendly corner, the book is still objective noting the critiques, the verbal gaffes, that the "That's Joe" charisma about the man (it's worth pointing out that "Promises to Keep" entirely surpasses Clarence Thomas). Witcover details the growth of a politician, someone who got into the game young and utilized his errors in order to mature - you could easily set a tent-pole between the 1988 and the 2008 presidential run. Throughout the 2000s, Trump turned to education after (temporarily) giving up on his pursuits of the White House. The self-help books of the mid-to-late 2000s are some of his best work and will give any reader insight to the contemporary era... frankly, better insight than any of these political "inside" exposes. "Never Give Up" is a study in endurance and innovation. Being that I've read at least half of Trump's books, this one came across a tad repetitive, but the spirit seen in the other books is still there. This sporadic collection of stories are lessons in the virtue of patients and letting providence take over when you're at a low point. In March, a very unique and very SPECIAL job came my way… I was asked to design a memorial plaque for a World War II veteran. Now, I have designed countless things in my life from advertisements, to program booklets, posters, books, logos, collages… but few were as special and/or important as this. Louis Yemc was deployed to France in 1944 and remained in the military until the early 1950s. Afterwards, he got involved with a small trucking company by the name of @macktrucks , which became what it is today thanks to Louie's innovation. Unfortunately Louie passed away in 2013, and I was never able to meet him. This became an even greater disappointment when his wife, @gdenlou , asked me to design and coordinate the plaque that would go on Louie's reserved space at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. To "step back in time" so to speak, create a modernized "thank you" for someone who fought in the 1940s, so that we could have freedom in the 2020s... nothing is more rewarding than this. RECOMMENDED READING: This is a roller-coaster. My limited experience slinging hash rings true to Bourdain's irreverent pseudo-autobiography of the depraved and psychotic. Anthony Bourdain's narration is so blunt and honest that I literally laughed-out-loud on multiple occasions, yet at the same time he balances out the crass humor with an authentic love for creative and delicious food. There is a nice sanguine balance between 70% obscenity and 30% actual character development. Try to avoid reading after eating a meal as "Kitchen Confidential" will make you hungry.
