Let's support works of art and literature that are intentionally outside of statist beauty standards. this can mean a lot of things: art that's critical of trump, art that focuses on various strands of liberation (queerness, feminism, antiracism, decolonization, etc), explicitly anarchist art, art inspired by antifascist theory. and it's all in this PWYW bundle! download it today, read some beautifully antifascist zines, and make sure to scandalize a fascist today.

What nobody tells you about transitioning is that the voices in your head take it and run with it. The supposed angel on your shoulder, that uptight little gremlin with its dime-store wings and cardboard halo, tells you to pay attention to the stares, the whispers, the people who pretend they can’t pronounce your pronouns, the people who know they can be respectful but choose not to. The supposed devil on your other shoulder thinks it’s intimidating, but it’s not, because it looks embarassingly like your Pinterest board.
This excerpt sums up my new zine LET THIS UNDO YOU--a little depressing, a little comedic, and all unabashedly trans. And there are also five other flash pieces full of queer futurism, liminal spaces, and (weirdly) art deco fonts. Get it on Itch or dm me for a free copy: https://mkzariel.itch.io/let-this-undo-you

i still recall the first time i went on a bad date—eighth grade, with a girl who kept insisting i do her homework for her—and rather than a crying fit or a desperate advice post made to r/Relationships or extended meta-analysis with my found family, i pulled out a PDF of Emma Goldman’s Living My Life and flipped to her depiction of her first husband.

Inspirational! Homophobia & Statism Solved By Confident Straight Friend in Love Is Love Shirt
This just in: your straight friend has heroicly ordered a "Love Is Love" graphic tee off of Amazon, and as a result homophobia and statism have been solved.
He is not aware of Amazon's horrifying labor practices, sources who think signing petitions is revolutionary activism confirmed.
Thousands on social media spent today congratulating your confident straight friend for reading one (1) sentence of one (1) work of critical theory. Said work was, in fact, the Wikipedia page on anarchism. He’s trying.

THIS THIS THIS. Like being perceived as gay is considered such a huge problem that actually being gay is unthinkable—the book Sissy Insurgencies talks about this
i think the best way to understand how transmasc erasure relates to misogyny is. you know when a new movie or show comes out and people get furious about how they made the female character an ugly hairy butch dyke, when in reality they just made a conventionally attractive woman with short hair and makeup and a normal amount of peach fuzz?
how do you think those people same people react to an actual ugly hairy butch dyke? do you really think the primary victim of this kind of vitriol against percieved-female masculinity is conventionally attractive, gender conforming cisperi women?
it's not a coincidence that the patriarchy cultivates disgust and violent hostility towards perceived-female masculinity, while also often refusing to actually depict it or discuss it publicly. the hatred is there. the target is never made obvious. its on purpose. stop taking everything the patriarchy says at face value.

truly wild to me how some adults call themselves youth liberationist and then are just plain creepy. i had to kick some jerk off the child and its enemies discord for saying "youth liberation" meant a lower age of consent...like, no, dude. this may come as a shocker, but ageist power dynamics and violating people's consent are NOT in fact youth liberationist. harassment and power dynamics, as a whole, do NOT add to any liberationist movement in any way.

q: how do we turn theory into praxis?
A: this is an interesting one, because in the anarchist community, the conventional wisdom is to start with praxis. i’m sure we’ve all heard stories about people who’ve been to a food distro / jail support / trans meetup / whatever, had a good experience, and only later realized that what they did is in line with anarchist ideals—this is why so many mutual aid projects are geared toward the general population rather than the anarchist scene. people find the anarchist label scary, think critical theory is intimidating, have better things to do, and are most likely to be radicalized if (through praxis) we show them a good time.

THIS EXACTLY. Abstinence focused sex ed doesn’t just make it harder for us to stay safe, but effectively slut shames teenagers 😭 especially queer and trans teenagers
i think sex positive people should have less “obviously nobody thinks teenagers should have sex, but they will anyway, so we at least need to inform them about safe sex,” and switch to “it is literally nobody’s business to make moral judgements about teenagers having sex, because they have bodily autonomy and what they choose to do with their bodies is their business, also everyone needs appropriate education on consent and safe sex and kink so that we all have equal access to safe and consensual sexual interactions”

Lately the fash have been really into critiquing literature and art for inane reasons, such as the attacks on the Smithsonian, NEA, et cetera. So there's only one thing to do. Let's make art that's intentionally outside of statist beauty standards. https://itch.io/jam/antifascist-literatureart-bundle
