Working on a new piece!!

Finally actually feeling inspired to create!

Wildlife are always a wonderful source of inspiration for me and I’m lucky to have come across some awesome people who’ve allowed me to take inspiration from animals they’ve captured in their back gardens across the globe!

First wood burning piece in a long while!! I’ve never tried to do an animal with it before so I’m pretty happy with how it turned out! I also worked at my new desk to do it for the first time! My doctor is gonna be so proud of me! It was a great few hours of focus and really helped with how low and chaotic my brain has been feeling lately!

So I’ve recently finally actually played through Stray Gods and I’m obsessed with Persephone. It’s a really interesting take on the character and I just had to try and draw her. It’s a style I’m not used to using but I’m actually pretty happy with how she turned out!

Psychology homework continues! (Currently it’s just make art, drink water and sleep 😂) I spent the last few days working on Medusa here using a more multimedia approach. What should I draw next?

So it’s been a long while since I’ve really felt able to create anything but on Thursday I met with a psychologist and part of the homework he gave me before treatment starts is to try and sketch or be a little bit creative every day if possible but 3 days of the week minimum. His thought is to try and get me back into a habit that helps me get back to who I am at the core, rather than just constantly living in survival mode. I don’t even know when I fell out of it but he’s definitely right it is something I need to do.

So here we have the results of my sketching from yesterday and today: the anxiety monster

I wanted to make something from scratch so that I wasn’t focusing on if it looked correct or not, so I just decided to focus on how I was feeling, at that moment I was feeling like I had too many thoughts and worries all trying to burst out of me, and that’s what I drew.

I know it’s not a big thing but after almost a year of very little drawing I’m so proud of myself for doing it.

We are at the half way point for this piece! I haven’t worked with clay since I was about 8 but I’m so glad I gave it a try because it was so unbelievably soothing for my mental health!

It took a while to figure out how to work the clay and make it stand the way I wanted to but it was so satisfying when it started to all come together! Pop a tea light in and it’s perfect!

Now just waiting for it to dry so I can paint and glaze it which I’m super excited for!

I used products from the @pottdpeople home pottery kit and then my own wooden piece for the mount!

I’m really enjoying leaning into my whimsical side at the moment and I can’t wait to see what else it yields!

Reblogging something about celebrating terrorist groups murdering and kidnapping people.....I just hope that anyone who enjoys seeing such things will *never* have the experience of having their loved ones disappear one morning.

I hope they never have to see the faces of theirs relatives, friends, classmates, colleagues and neighbors on palestinian tv being beaten and dragged to gaza by terrorist.

Could you imagine seeing your friend who was missing the whole day on palestinian tiktok being kidnapped while people are happy about it? While entire streets are closed inside their homes because armed terrorist raid your city? Breaking into homes to kidnap people?

No matter what side theyre on i hope no one ever has to experience that kind of horror.

the Palestinian people have had to watch their children and brothers and sisters and mothers and fathers be murdered violently in the streets of Gaza for decades because of the violent occupation of Palestine.

you get to call the colonizers "relatives, friends, classmates, colleagues and neighbors" but the Palestinian people are only ever "terrorists." when the Israeli police drag Palestinians out of mosques and kill them in streets-- more than 200 Palestinians have been killed this year alone, plus the 161 that have already been killed in retaliation-- are you going to call them terrorists, too? as Israel continues their retaliation and kills 30 Palestinians for every single Israeli soldier, is it "terrorism" or will you find a way to justify it, then? will you care about the "relatives, friends, classmates, colleagues and neighbors" then?

"No matter what side theyre on i hope no one ever has to experience that kind of horror." again, Palestinians have been living this for decades. and what we're witnessing now is the inevitable response to those decades of oppression & occupation.

as for your "friends, classmates, colleagues and neighbors" -- they are living on occupied land. land that was taken by force through ethnic cleansing. they can leave at any time-- most of them have already, fleeing back to their home countries with their dual citizenships. they are settlers. they are part of the settler colony that is actively oppressing, dispossessing, and murdering Palestinians.

these "terrorists" you decry are oppressed people taking up arms-- scavenged from the weapons Israeli soldiers and police have been using against them for years-- to decolonize and take back their home. decolonization is a violent process. we absolutely cannot tolerate a double standard. there is no "both sides."

It’s a whimsical kinda of drawing day!

I’ve been playing and replaying @ataleofcrowns over the past few days and the setting has really sparked my imagination, especially the forest. I enjoy how each character has their own relationships with every part of the world, the spirits, the natural magic, the flora and fauna.

My brain envisaged the singing flowers similarly to the talking flowers in Alice in Wonderland - particularly with how volatile and dangerous they can be!

I love that something that seemed like such a whimsical setting choice became so integral to the plot and I just wanted to draw a cute lil flower

So here we have a smug singing flower as Xelef is being scolded by a Peri for trying to pick it!

Hellion the Hellhound

This was definitely a trust the process piece and I ended up just putting it down several times because I couldn’t see a positive end in site but all in all I adore him!!

He’s the most dashing hell hound I’ve ever seen!

After getting out of hospital I felt the need to be creative so I decided to actually try and finish Helly here and I’m so beyond glad I did because I adore him!

The scary train is in the station. I’m finding leaning into creating the scary art I enjoy is enabled me to actually start creating again! ☠️I had a mini autism meltdown at work so I started a rough sketch to calm down and it became the lovely gent you see before you. I’ve finally started to get the hang of these coloured pencils and I’m super happy with how it’s turned out!! 🤡
