The ‘Jason Todd kills Catalina Flores’ genre of fanfiction is so morbidly hilarious to me because like. How do you miss the point that badly. Even if you haven’t read the comic, how do you see the ‘Dick blames himself for an enemy of his killing a person who majorly traumatized him so that that person won’t hurt anyone anymore’ plot and go ahh I see. He needs to have that event recreated to the letter. For Healing
#I've only ever read one fic where this came up and I think it was lowkey commenting on this troupe#jason was IN the prison and dick game to stop him and he was all like “danm this is literally what happened”#but in the most obvert NO subtlety way possible#i thought it was so strange#but if it's a common thing that so makes sense why it was written like that

This may be an unpopular opinion among this fandom but ima share it anyway. Bruce Wayne can cook. Dick Grayson? He can cook too.
Of course, for Bruce Wayne and Timothy Drake-Wayne, cooking isn't a necessity if Alfred Pennyworth is in the picture. But, they have both lived on their own (Tim currently and Bruce's "world tour"). That being said, they are far from "amazing," but they can definitely feed themselves just fine. They have essentially the "peak" physical build and constantly keep up their fitness and skills, it's hard (even being rich) to constantly eat out to do that, especially when I find it hard to believe these paranoid assholes would even eat out that much.
Dick Grayson was a traveling carney for the first 8-12 years of his life depending on when you have the Grayson's die. If you consider Dick Grayson to be Romani like I do, it's insanely difficult to excuse him NEVER helping in the cooking process. Especially when it's usually described as a close knit family in the circus. Then we have him living with Wayne after Juvie, people usually write Jason with this quality but he would totally at least watch Alfred cook if not help here and there. 8-12 year olds aren't incapable. Cooking in this situation is a form of control, the child, who has just gone through something incredibly traumatic, needs an outlet and I don't believe only Jason should be allowed this outlet in fandon.
Of course, this isn't even touching on the point that he basically moved out at 16 and started the Teen Titans and after still lived alone in Blüdhaven. He doesn't even have the money to constantly eat out like the other two. He's an athlete, he cannot persist just on cereal.
That in particular feels so infantalistic of fandom. Increasingly he has become pretty boy himbo to distract marks with his ass and a good fuck. I hate this for him in particular, even as it happens to Jason Todd and Timothy Drake in separate ways, who all at some point feel like toddlers.
Being able to cook and eat well is a particular point for me in how he's infantilised however. Typically, in North America cooking is forced onto the women in the house, catering to men always and seen as a "skill" and not a chore. It also feeds into girlfriend's being mommies to their boyfriend, as they should "never" learn how to cook. Of course it's not exactly like this, but he still has other characters catering to him, from Alfred Pennyworth to Jason Todd. This sect of the fandom treats him like he should constantly be cared for, he's a disaster that simply can't live on his own, he doesn't live in a mess because of grief (when time calls) he's just a man baby slob.
I fear I got a bit off topic with this rant. All of the Wayne's can cook even if it may not be a skill readily needed. It feels horribly stereotypical to have the "rich" characters constantly catered to and all meals prepared for, where as Jason Todd, main descriptor sometimes just "street rat" being the only one to cook. I would say more about the others, like Cassandra, but she does in comics (the first few) not really see food as something to "enjoy" per-se. Then again, the women are often off being supporting casts or written away at the drop of a hat so they, surprisingly with how some fandoms are, never cook.
Duke simply doesn't have the presence in fandom for me to critique this specific point, and Damian is just labelled "Vegetarian" who has more interest in stabbing people than ever stepping foot into a kitchen. (Hard to believe he wouldn't watch Alfred cook for completely separate reasons than comfort.)
The Wayne's can cook, They are all (bar Damian) functioning adults that have and mostly still do live on their own. Cooking isn't just "the helps" job and Jason Todd.
#it feels like they cant cook to bolster jason todds one “good” quality#like how Tim is the best detective/hacker at the consequence of putting other characters around him down#multiple characters can share similar qualities#batmans whole family's thing is being detectives. yes even Cassandra#dc comics#batman#dick grayson#jason todd#bruce wayne#dcu#rant

Dick Grayson is NOT eldest daughter coded.
It was never his responsibility — nor did Bruce ever have any expectations for him — to raise any of the Batkids when he was still a teenager. The only time he did take over mentoring was in the event of Bruce's death, which was an anomaly and doesn't consistently happen at all. Bruce raised all of his kids, not his eldest son, who is rightfully fully independent and leading multiple teams.
ADMIT that you want HARPER ROW. You know, the actual teen girl who had to take over raising herself and her younger brother whilst also providing for both of them by working? OR Lois Lane, and the list goes on.
More in-depth explanation here.
#thank you soo much for this#bro wasn't even a child for MOST OF THEM#he was like an adult BY JASON#and that term is used to refer to children raising their younger children#he didnt even know about jason lets be so fr#you cant have “you got another kid bruce??” whom he was hardly around and him solely raising him

Barbara's main "themes" for colour being green and purple are killer. I redrew her less vibrant than the scrapped one and don't know if I like it.

Mermaid au's consume my mind and body. I did draw the main nine members of the batfamily... but I don't like the other four besides Timothy. The fish are somewhat of a mix of behaviour and colour but mainly colour.

But what if all of Gotham knows that Brucie Wayne is a persona Bruce puts on for the public? Like they all saw him be a weird, quiet little boy even before his parents were killed. They saw him be a weirder, quieter little boy after they were killed. They saw him be a loner teenager who hated talking to people, who was always more comfortable keeping to himself.
Then he comes back after traveling the world and he’s suddenly a himbo playboy socialite? Either it’s all an act, or someone finally introduced Bruce Wayne to the good drugs. They’re more inclined to believe it’s the former considering they all start to notice that, while Bruce may always have a drink in his hand when he’s out and about, he never actually drinks it.
But they don’t say anything. They don’t call him out on it. He may be a weirdo, but he does his best to make Gotham a better place for everyone to live. He donates money to all sorts of local charities, he volunteers his time at soup kitchens, he donates brand new clothes and bedding and toiletries to shelters. He’s a good guy. Who cares if he’s a little odd.
Most Gothamites actually feel kinda bad that he must think he needs to play this goofball character in order to fit in, in order to be a contributing member to society.
So they let him play his role.
Then he adopts Dick Grayson, the little circus boy whose parents were just killed in front of him. Who’s eight years old, the same age Bruce was when his parents were also killed in front of him. And everyone knows exactly why he adopted him, because the parallels are too much, and they see so clearly in the way Bruce interacts with him that Bruce just wants to help him, that he understands exactly how Dick must be feeling.
And Dick is a very serious child, at first. He hardly speaks. He clings to Bruce’s hand if Bruce isn’t carrying him. He glares at people. When he does speak, it’s scathing, and he has a sharp tongue.
Then a couple years later, it’s like his personality has completely flipped. He’s goofy and silly and so very similar to Brucie. And they’re all reminded that Dick grew up in a circus, he’s a showman through and through, and they all know it’s an act. They all know Richie isn’t the real him.
But they let him perform, let him put on his show along with Bruce. Because Gotham loves the Waynes, and if they want to have a public persona to have some sort of privacy, then they aren’t going to stop them.
