people in my fiction writing class were complimenting how i wrote my dialogue but they don’t understand that i spend most of my time making faces as my characters while reading their dialogue in my head to make sure i could see it translated onto a tv screen/in a conversation and yk what i blame my fanfic days for that

1975

i never thought i’d find someone like you

i never thought i’d find myself spinning down streets

blissfully humming songs in the evening,

by computer light grinning at what you said that evening

i never thought i’d find someone like you

so genuinely welcoming even to amateurs like we

arms wide open, mind open with respect

conversing with care and with thought and content

i find myself awake most nights, not restless or scared

instead i am in awe of all you choose to be

instead, i can’t take my mind off of your words

of the mountains you sculpt out of zeros and ones

out of strings of synapses exiting your ears

i am in awe of all that you are

and i’ve never known love to it’s strongest degree

but when i see you skipping away or drunkenly plucking out a melody

i know what love is

i feel only adoration

i can’t fathom a world without possibly knowing you

i can’t begin to imagine doing all of this alone

daffodils bloom between our interlocked fingers

diamonds shimmer in a halo as you tell me ‘bout your life

faded photographs of perfect smiles burn into my eyes

all bright, glistening and promising an ideal future

i’m nothing without you,

i’m in awe of all you do

because i never thought i’d find someone like you.

Gilgamesh and he

I’m surrounded by people

From land and from sea

And yet all that i have

Is Gilgamesh and he

Nobody comes knocking

No one asks how’s the day

No one even gives time

To get into my way

My purple skirt flowing

I weave through them all,

I’m a ghost, I’m a nothing

‘Cept to him from the hall

And him from the palace

And not a single she,

Just a barrage of too-muchness

A tsunami at sea

Yes all those who bother,

Just Gilgamesh and he.

stargazing

the night is bleak

when you don’t look close

the stars seem so far away

when you don’t know

the grass is cold

and damp for a while

until you lay for some time

and you let yourself smile

if you let go of it all

things start to look up

then you’ll find

all the galaxies hidden above

you’ll find life in that grass,

and for all that you know

you’ll find within the darkness,

a soft hidden glow

take me back to the night

where i laid down with you

you were unknown to me

though we’d met before too

but my lips pulled you up

and your arms pulled me down

and for a brief moment

our lost souls were found

i eat all of my words now,

and surely keep them down

my words just cause trouble

they never land sound

you know why i do

because you’ve felt their bite

and they aren’t calm darkness

like that of the night

the coldness of dew

sticks to the sleeves of my shirt

and the sparkles above

burn you red, and still hurt

in the moment our lives

intertwined perfectly

but now, in this moment

they’re nowhere to be seen

you landed on some planet

far far away

and i blasted into

a nebula’s wave

after time, it turned easy

to float in this space

though once before i thought

i’d merely become waste

but now, i know that i’ll land somewhere new…

now, it is easy to enjoy the night’s view.

Locutus

bruised veins, wasted time

jaundice lights that suck the life out of my chest

delayed televisions turning my eyes square

wires fall out of my limbs, sprawled across the tile floor

my skull is concealed in bondage

and my legs are wrapped in fibrous metal

the others help me breathe now,

our collective mind keeping us alive

i’ve seen pictures of the world, but i don’t know it

i’ve drawn life with my own two hands but have never felt it

in a way, i feel wise beyond my years

and i take inspiration from fake landmarks

and i know the name of every president

but yet, i’m too decayed to do a thing

i’m the ruler of this realm, i know every nook and cranny

and i can count every citizen on my left hand

but my right is quite withered, it hangs on by a thread

and serves an ill reminder that my kingdom will soon also be dead

so here i’ll reside, within the confines of plaster

and here i will stay as the world falls to hell

and maybe if i stay long enough, i will live on long after

in this armor i was placed in, within this metal shell
