〝 @multi-lefaiye ⟶ ❛ Laura, Max, and Kaitlyn for the Quarry asks!! ❜
LAURA: would your muse put themselves at risk to protect the ones that they love ? are they obedient in the face of authority or more rebellious ?
Gerry would definitely put himself at risk in order to protect his loved ones tbh, to a downright stupid degree. He tends to believe that everyone is more important than him, anyway, that everybody has more of a place / right to be here than he does, so he is very much on that self-sacrificial bullshit, viewing his own death as no great loss to the world at large.
Plus, he’s already died before, and as he puts it: “Dying’s not so bad, it’s staying dead that sucks.” If he has to endure death again to make sure that somebody else avoids it, well, that’s not a problem for him.
As for authority, it does depend entirely on the authority. With police officers and other “official” forms of authority, he tends to err on the side of being highly rebellious and not listening to a word they say. He’s got no real respect for the police in any capacity, and a lot of his entire… [vague hand gesture] existence involves him operating outside of… any governance, for whatever it’s worth.
Like, he was framed by his mother’s murder by his mother and is assumed to have “faked” his death. And even what he was doing in his first go at life, hunting down Leitners and other Entity-related shit, often saw him breaking the law for the sake of that. So, no, he doesn’t really like cops, and likewise, they don’t like him, ha! There are still a lot of people on the London police force, now that he’s back, who think that he really did kill his mom and that it being a mistrial was complete bullshit. So, he does what he can to avoid interactions with cops, knowing that there are plenty who are just like, “Give me a reason! 🔫”
However, when it comes to authoritative women outside of the realm of ‘official’ authorities, Gerry has a hard time saying ‘no’ because—something, something—mommy issues. He is getting much better at it in recent times, at recognizing when people are trying to use him and pushing back against it, making some effort to defend himself. But he still runs on an instinct to make himself small and quiet whenever a woman enters the room and clearly wants to take charge of a situation.
Trauma puts one hell of a damper on his would-be rebel image, whoops—
MAX: does your muse have a positive or negative outlook in life ? do they tend to ignore certain instructions or are they a perfectionist ?
I would say that Gerry typically tries to have a more positive outlook on life, the keyword being tries. Certainly, when he was younger, or before his death, he was much more given to pessimism and negativity, not seeing any way out of the holes in which he found himself. It kind of seemed like once he was out of one, he would slip right back into another, such as getting rid of Mary only to be picked up by Gertrude, who had plans to blow him up pretty much as soon as she met him.
Now that he has a second chance at life and a friend who doesn’t want to use him for everything he’s worth, though, he tries to look on the bright side of things, yeah! He is doing his best to enjoy life as it comes to him, for the first time in ever, and he is not perfect at it all the time. He is a work-in-progress, but he’s getting there, dammit!
And he has always genuinely believed that most people are innately good and worth saving. Not all of his Leitner burning was out of spite for his mother. So, there is that.
As for instructions, Gerry doesn’t ignore them so much as he just forgets them. (Three cheers for 25+ years of undiagnosed ADHD!) He certainly doesn’t intend to get sloppy with his work (although I wouldn’t say that he sets out specifically to be a perfectionist, either), he just tends not to do well with certain tasks unless he is given reminders about them.
His tendency towards forgetfulness caused a lot of problems with both his mother and Gertrude, who berated him for it incessantly. As a result, Gerry has a lot of problems wherein he doubts his own intelligence and believes himself to be “just stupid” sometimes, instead of… y’know… undiagnosed neurodivergent. Sighs.
KAITLYN: does your muse considers themselves a leader ? would they easily step into that position in a crisis ?
Gerry absolutely does not consider himself to be a leader. While he is capable of going off and doing shit on his own, whenever there is a person that he feels comfortable deferring to, he usually does. He considers himself to be absolutely abysmal at carving out his own path. He’s a follower more than anything, first with his mother, and then with Gertrude, and most recently with Jon. Jon is trying to get him to… not… follow him around so much, to middling results lmao
As for stepping in during a crisis, absolutely. In fact, that is kind of all that Gerry ever does. He sees somebody about to Get Got by one of the Entities and takes it upon himself to step in. He understands by now that he will never be able to save absolutely everyone, but if he can help even a little bit, then yeah, he wants to.
I finally watched breaking bad (all within the past week or so while I worked, finished it and watched el camino last night) and I'm confident this isn't a new thought I'm expressing or anything but genuinely how DID an entire generation of dudes convince themselves Walter White was cool and admirable and intended to be sympathetic. I know ppl just lack media literacy sometimes but I'm still so confused
I don't think I've EVER watched a piece of media that so blatantly depicts a guy making the worst possible decisions at every turn and having his life ruined for it and not being redeemed or made sympathetic in any significant or lasting way. the kinds of justifications villains USUALLY give that make people consider them "morally grey" or "tragic" or whatever (everything I did was for my loved ones, I did what I had to to survive, once I was in this I couldn't get out, I just needed you to trust me so I could keep you safe, etc etc) is ALWAYS framed as complete self-serving bullshit when Walt says it, and one of the only shreds of personal growth he ever exhibits in the whole series is when he finally fucking admits that. every time he does something even remotely cool or drops a quotable one-liner, something terrible immediately happens that makes everything worse and makes him look like an unreasonable idiot asshole again. by the end of the series the ONLY characters they can still contrast as being morally "worse" than him are literally a bunch of bloodthirsty neonazis who kept a guy in a cage for several months. this show is practically SCREAMING at you the entire time not to admire Walt. why did every dude I knew in highschool have his face on tshirts and Facebook pfps.
I just don't get it. at least with The Dark Knight's Joker it was like, a feature-length movie and that's it. you spend a lot less time with the Joker and it has a lot less time to delve into his motivations, so there's way more room for flanderization and misinterpretation as people extrapolate the few cool/interesting/sad things they saw into a whole nuanced misunderstood guy in their heads and online. Walter White has 5 seasons' worth of 45min episodes to convince you beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is a miserable fucking loser who ruins everything he touches because of greed and selfishness. if you weren't watching it for that, what WERE you getting out of this. what DID you think this show was about. am I just missing some key piece of context from 2012 or whatever that would help me understand this
Fig: Hah! - Nobody ever expects an Archdevil rockstar to be nice.
Riz: … yeah. - 's just budget work tho. (the stuff I'm working on) - I've heard it's boring.

Riz (off screen): to anyone too, not just. - the people you /love/.
page 08
Riz: that's not how it is elsewhere. - The world's– not. hostile. - but 's not like it's kind.
Riz: So I'm doing as much as I can now…
page 09
Fig: Hey.
Riz: ?
Fig: Go dig some dirt with me.
page 10
Riz: [blank speech bubble] - oh you meant like - actual dirt. (not incriminating information)
Fig: o yea.

Fig: anything!!!

Fig: yep that works - okay time's up! all contestant hands up
i know coming back right is kinda a silly idea but im thinking about it.
what if ranboo came back, and they came back right?
not physically, of course. god, he looks a decade older and has the exhaustion to match. their skin is marred, mostly scar tissue now, from the explosion, from sam, from the endless ocean of limbo, from crying. tubbo hates that they match now. he’s skinnier, too, as if death took everything but the skin and bones of him. they look more monstrous. theres a new streak of white in his hair. it reminds tubbo of wilbur. it reminds tommy of himself.
but he’s just as kind, he still holds their son with tenderness and sings songs of old to him. he still brushes tubbos hair away with a feather-light touch. they still help techno with the dogs. he still visits tommy. they still grow pink tulips.
their memory is... better. ranboo still loses his house keys and forgets where he was going or what they ate for lunch, but they have every scar on tommy memorized, he knows tubbo like the back of their hand, can recite historical events like a textbook, will never lose track of an important date again.
its all they had in limbo. he didnt want to forget for good.
he's still scared, if they're being honest. scared that their sacrifice was for nothing. scared that his family will be destroyed again and again for the sick pleasure of some fucking guy. scared that he'll be used again. scared that they'll hurt the people they care about again. but for now they're okay, they have a team and a family and a second chance.
ranboo comes back and theyre okay, honestly. they move into the mansion with his husband and child. he thanks techno again and again for saving his son. for saving him. techno doesnt accept the thanks, he should've done more. he talks with tommy about limbo, and about grief. they visit their own graves and they grieve. for one another, for themselves. it washes over them in waves. tubbo still waits for the other shoe to drop, for his husband or himself to turn into a maniac and blow the server to bits, but it doesnt come. it won't come. its not the same, it cant be, but its good for the first time in a long time.
maybe the other shoe doesn’t have to drop. maybe sometimes people can come back and maybe they can be okay.
Do you ever think about Charles, who's always protecting others and stepping up to stop his classmates from being bullied, who's putting on a smile and a brave face, who's learned to hide his feelings to not tick off his father, making sure to lift the spirits of everyone around him, met Edwin at the one moment when he couldn't be *any of that?*
Edwin met Charles when he wasn't the strong, brave, smiling Charles that he wants to be known as. He met Charles when he was at his most vulnerable, when he needed someone to see him, the real him, and love him nevertheless.
Maybe that's why Charles gave up his afterlife for Edwin in a heartbeat. Because Edwin met him at his worst, and stayed anyway.
AaaaAAAAA Filled another page :D um as for the chapter here’s how I feel about it:

Also some doodles from before this mind boggling chapter came out
I was really in the mood to do some masquerade fanart, but I didn’t feel like coming up with anything original, so here’s some of my favorite (...slightly paraphrased) bits from the first part. I don’t know where it’s going, but it’s pretty fun so far!
also one that isn’t canon except in my heart:
(disclaimer that this is a Joke)
(he is a horrible little rat man, but to be fair, so is everyone else)
(if you don’t like horrible little rat men why are you even playing this game)
Stepbrother Eddie who just wanted to protect his innocent little brother and thought that no one would ever deserve his baby.
He’d chase off Steve’s new boyfriends and return home with bloody knuckles—a result of his wrath—because how dare they lay their dirty hands on Steve?
Every day, when Steve came back from school, he’d check Steve’s pretty cunt to make sure the omega hadn't let some random alphas take his virginity.
If it required him to use his tongue and fingers for a thorough inspection, then no one would be the wiser. And if he knotted Steve’s cute ass once or twice every time before he fell asleep with a purring omega in his arms, then it was a little secret between him and his baby.
In the end, Eddie was the one who took Steve’s virginity because no one could protect his omega better than him.
always enjoyed the Chess Set In The Foreground perspective framing used here
now also noting like, huh, a chess set in a general store just visited by marigold competitors who killed one of their guys and are now on the way back from their rendezvous point w/suppliers
Currently thinking about big and buff and tall Noah going to a concert with you and standing near you or even directly behind you, giving off Rottweiler energy and being prepared to pounce if anyone tried pushing into you or was being creepy. He’d lean down to make sure you’re okay and give your hip or shoulder a squeeze when you nod reassuringly, finding yourself leaning into him a little more. It didn’t really take much for them to back off just based off Noah’s physical appearance, but if it ever got to the point of an altercation, he would be READY to go off.
(this happened to me at a show last night and one of my big, buff guy friends came to my rescue like that and I would be lying if I said I didn’t fall in love a little??? 😵💫)
