No one requested this, I just recently took used a jacuzzi and that was pretty swell. This is non-spicy, just fluff with mentions of no clothing because, ya know, you don't take a bath with clothes on.

March would love the idea of getting to share a hot tub with her S/O!

After all the running and chaos of being with the Astral Express, it was nice to just unwind with her loved ones.

She moves to sit right next to S/O, and enjoys the warmth of the water and their proximity.

Hot tubs were meant to be enjoyed together, not sitting across from each other!

March resists the urge to splash water onto them like they were in a bath, and instead decides to take it slow for once.

March 7th exhaled dramatically as she sank into the waters and closed her eyes.

(March 7th) "Finally, just some you and me time."

(S/O) "March, we've been together all day-"

(March 7th) "Shush, I meant just us! We've been shopping all day!"-

The sound of the jets inside the tub blasting at full power was the only sound for a little while, besides their relaxed breathing.

March opened one eye and peeked at S/O, who she noticed was trying not to glance too much at her.

(March 7th) "Aw, feeling shy?"

(S/O) "I just want to be respectful."

(March 7th) "Psh, what are you, some kinda monk? We're already in a tub, no need to be that shy."

March teased, kissing their cheek before relaxing again.

(March 7th) "Now, what did you buy? You never told me what was in that bag-"

March and her S/O make small talk as the aches in their muscles slowly faded away.

Stelle doesn't recall if she ever used a hot tub before, but sharing it with someone she loved would not be a bad first time.

She sits somewhat stiffly onto the seat next to S/O and doesn't move as she feels the water flow against her skin.

It's relaxing, doubly so with her S/O nearby, but she doesn't know what to do.

Beats using her shower alone, that's for sure though.

S/O joked, nudging her shoulder a little. Stelle chuckles lightly and nudges them back.

(Stelle) "I'm used to something happening if I try sitting down for an extended period of time. Usually an explosion."

S/O wrapped their arms around Stelle and laughed at her response.

(S/O) "A nice change of pace then?"

(Stelle) "Hm, I guess so."

Stelle replied again with a small smirk growing, relaxing into their embrace.

(Stelle) "I'm counting down until someone interrupts us while we're in here. Want to make a bet?"

(S/O) "Fifty credits for the next ten minutes."

(Stelle) "My bet's the next five."

The two shared playful banter as they enjoyed the time together until the Astral Express reached its next destination.

Himeko gladly takes the chance to share the hot tub with her S/O.

She gives them a teasing wink before stepping in, waiting for them.

Other than the initial tease, she doesn't torment her S/O as much as they were expecting, deciding that this moment shouldn't be wasted.

Part of her wishes that it could have scents or bubbles, but knows that it'd ruin the tub. Oh well, there's always the actual bathtub!

(Himeko) "You know, I'm quite glad we were able to get this in here."

Himeko lets her body lean onto S/O, closing her eyes as she felt them adjust their position so they could both be comfortable.

(S/O) "I'm surprised Caelus, March, and Dan Heng could even fit it through the doors."

S/O chuckled, recalling when they somehow found a functioning one and brought it into the train cars.

It took the entire crew to find a place for it to stay in while figuring out how to get running water into it.

(Himeko) "Well, if it lets us experience this, I'm willing to not ask a few questions."

(S/O) "Fair enou-Pwuah! Y-Your hair is in my mouth!"

Himeko lets out a beautiful giggle as she moves out the way, enjoying the sight of S/O without her imagination having to do the work.

(Himeko) "We should do this more often.~"

Lisa absolutely melts the moment she relaxes into the tub.

The sigh she lets out is enough to distract S/O momentarily before they joined her.

Lisa's gaze softens as she brushes one hand across their face, the water dropping from her arm.

S/O raised an eyebrow.

(S/O) "Darling, all you did was read a book today-"

Lisa gasped, faking her surprise with a barely held back smile as she put a hand onto her chest.

(Lisa) "I'm hurt, I did some very hard work, I'll have you know!"

(S/O) "Mhm, I bet you did."

Lisa turned her attention back to the important task at hand: relaxing.

(Lisa) "I could get addicted to this hot tub, the way the waters soothe my feet feels so good."

(S/O) "How about we save this for every once in a while, that way it feels like a reward?"

(Lisa) "Hm, good idea.~"

Lisa notices immediately how S/O is trying their best to not stare too long at her, something she appreciates and finds cute.

Well, this wasn't the nice cold waters of the Dragonspine lake, but it could do.

The experience was made better with her S/O's presence, though that wasn't something she would share out loud.

At least not with S/O teasing her at this very moment.

Eula shifted in the tub, trying to fully relax but the warmth of the water made it difficult to do so.

(S/O) "Hah, now you have experienced but a taste of my vengeance on you!"

(Eula) "Hmph, it will take more than lukewarm water to dishearten me, S/O."

Eula shifted over to her S/O, the heat rising to her cheeks nearly matching the water.

Her hand enveloped theirs as she did her best to get used to the feeling.

(Eula) "Next time, the waters I will put you in shall be even colder."

(S/O) "Assuming you don't melt first."

Eula made a grunt, trying her best to not let the blush on her cheeks be too obvious.

Whether the water be cold or hot, being this intimate to S/O always made her heart race.

Navia was the one who brought S/O to the hot tub, insisting they get to use it first!

Although she blushes lightly from wearing nothing, it doesn't take her long to eagerly jump into the hot tub with them!

She has one arm resting around their shoulder as she hums in content.

Navia felt S/O lean into her, which made her heartbeat quicken.

Navia kissed them on the lips before giving them a toothy smile.

Furina at first rejected the notion of going into the hot tub with her S/O, because she thought they were telling her to take a bath.

The Hydro Archon doesn't need to clean herself with water, she IS water!

Furina dramatically tosses her clothes and hat away as S/O hurriedly tries to join her after it almost lands on them.

Once they're both sitting in the waters, her lips are making random sounds as her hands are idly creating bubbles that emerged from the water.

Hearing S/O stifle a laugh, she turned to them.

(Furina) "What, pray tell, is so amusing?"

(S/O) "N-Nothing. It's...just that you're cute."

Furina is stunned for a brief moment before her smirk comes back.

(Furina) "Well. I know I am quite dazzling, doubly so when I am surrounded by water~."

She then takes another peek at S/O, who is still staring quite affectionately at her, leading Furina to begin pouting.

(Furina) "S-Stop staring at me like that!"

Shenhe was sitting nearly as still as a rock inside the hot tub with her S/O.

Was she...doing this right?

(Shenhe) "However, this is not good for meditating. The noise the water is making is quite loud, and the constant brushing of it on my skin is...strange.''

She nodded in thanks and sat closer to S/O, almost squishing herself against them.

(Shenhe) "And...there is the problem that you are here. My mind cannot seem to focus."

He closes his eyes when your fingertips start carding through his blue strands of hair. "This is the good life", he sighs and winks at you, "now all you'd need to do would be feeding me grapes like they do in the movies and things would be perfect." "Wait until I throw you off the couch", you shoot him a warning glare. "Hey, hey, I jest", he puts his hands up defensively and laughs.

"You know I'm lucky to have you", he takes your free hand into his and presses a kiss to your knuckles, "this is like we're straight out of a romantic piece of literature, don't you think?" You raised an eyebrow at him: "You're not exactly what I'd consider a romance novel protagonist."

He sighs. "True. I'm more like, the court jester who fell in love with the pretty royal heir", he reaches up to cup your cheek, caressing it gently with his fingertips. "And I love you for it", you laugh as he sits up to press a kiss to your lips. You bury your fingers in his hair whilst kissing back.

You take a deep breath and drift off into your own thoughts now that Sampo was quiet for a moment. A rare occurence, really.

As you enjoy this moment with your beloved, you think back to the chaos that was all over Belobog recently. "Hey, what do you think our friends from the Astral Express are doing now?", you wonder and Sampo sinks back into your lap again, resting his cheek against your stomach. "Maybe fighting a giant, strong lady with the help of a dragon, but what do I know?", he shrugs with a satisfied smile on his face. "Isn't it usually the other way around?", you raise an eyebrow. "It is, isn't it?", he puts a finger to his chin and chuckles.

You laugh and ruffle his hair. "You always have such an overactive imagination. You should write a book." "As much as I'd slay as an author, I'm just doomed by the narrative like the rest of us, darling."

Blade enjoys when you run your fingers through his hair. It's a sensation that momentarily distracts him from everything else that is going on in that busy, but tired mind of his; so it's well-appreciated.

He will not let you mess up his hair under any circumstance. Kafka calling him "Bladie", a terrible habit that rubbed off on you, was bad enough. He didn't need her and Silver Wolf to tease him about having a ponytail on top of his head with several braids going off from it, tied together with colorful hair ties.

Thankfully, you were sane enough not to attempt that.

But he does let you do a few nice hairstyles that look good on him; like a simple, long braid. He doesn't care for what he looks like after all these years of being alive but you seemed to find joy in it and it made his daily life easier sometimes to have his hair put together in a braid.

Sometimes when you sit behind him and braid his hair, you press a few teasing kisses to his neck. Unfortunately for his usually so serious demeanor, Blade is the most ticklish person you have ever met, so that's one of the only things that gets a laugh out of him; even if he didn't feel it emotionally. You brush a strand of his hair back, relishing in the sound he made so rarely; a slight tinge of sadness in your heart and a thought you didn't dare voice.

I wish I could see you laugh more... I'd do anything to make you happy.

He also lets you brush his hair every morning if you want to. His hair is so soft, as you have told him many times. He always wonders how something so simple could bring you so much joy; but he's glad that it does.

Luocha always takes good care of his hair; after all a professional appearance was important for a merchant. His hair is very soft and silky and you have a great time brushing and braiding it.

He teaches you how to do his signature hairstyle. It's quite difficult to do on his own so he appreciates that you're happy to help. This pretty much became a routine for the two of you in the morning.

Sometimes he'd try to get up at night to go to the bathroom and find you accidentally laying on his hair. He hisses an "ouch" under his breath, sometimes waking you up in the process. Once he's back in your arms, you massage his scalp and carefully run your fingers through his blond strands to make up for the painful accident.

In the morning, you tend to sit behind him and do his hair, often littering his neck and shoulders in the process. "Is this just an excuse for you to give me kisses?", he chuckles and shakes his head. "I suppose you caught me", you sigh with a smile on your face and Luocha turns his head to pull you into a deep kiss that catches you off guard. You quickly melt into the gesture, closing your eyes and noting how pleasant the taste of his lips is. You presume he applies lip balm in the morning before you do his hair but you never actually saw him do it.

When he gets home after a long day, depending on what hairstyle you did for him, his scalp hurts sometimes when you undo his braid so he loves to rest his head in your lap and have you ease brush your fingers through his hair.

They don’t cause trouble/chaos, has a really calming presence, easy to talk to, is mostly mature for their age, but they aren’t cold or blunt. They are nice but not naive, and they are quite observant + smart when they need to be, so they’re good at solving problems (reader is kind of like the calmest one on the Astral Express lol)

Dan Heng admires how calm you can be, even in stressful situations and is thankful at how observant and smart you are. Likely helping the group get out of certain situations due to it. You're rather different to the girl who was found floating near you in ice and he noticed quickly how you two were almost polar opposites.

He enjoys having another person on board the express who's calm and he's thankful you're easy to talk too. And that you don't mind how closed off he is himself, he's also thankful you don't cause trouble on missions or the express and rather you help defuse them.

He sees you as a younger sibling and makes sure you're being taken care of as well. Everyone on the express is his family and he will ensure all will be protected. This means you have to eat your vegetables, hydrate and sleep.

I see you two relaxing in the archives as you help him with adding things into the Data Banks when neither of you can sleep. And when you do ultimately fall asleep, he carefully carries you back to your room and tucks you in before continuing working himself.

Also, despite being younger then most of the express, you're more mature then a good few of them which are adults. And he's unsure if he should be concerned cuz of that fact.

March 7th is older then you, but she considers you her twin! Simply because you were both found on the same day, and even though everyone knows you're a teen so younger then she is. People go along with it.

She complains a bit about being shorter then you, one of the times she doesn't call you her twin. But she means well, all her little annoyances and complaints with you slightly being taller is a joke.

The relation between void and Bocchi??

You see I actually love the kirby series. The fact that a cute little pink blob could annihilate a eye-demon-god-alike thing kinda work for me. And I also like bocchi and i kinda rewatch it again not so long ago. And because I love both of it I can't really not see bocchi in void when it make faces like... this

And just because of that splash intro and other faces void make, I can't really shake my head off but thinking that bocchi also make those face. The face them both make is the same and accurate.. or like 80% accurate. And so it add another idea on my mind.

What if bocchi reincarnated as void the astral birth? Or essence of chaos? Or both?

Now let me clear things off first for you who didn't know about void. As you all know I'm not referring to real void, I'm talking about void from kirby star allies that have a huge role to be the final boss in the game. Oh yeah have I told you about warning spoiler even tho the game were like old now? Oh yeah I won't cover like literally every information about void (I probably will just explain the basic about em)

So void is a creature that borned due to the amount of negative energy it absorbed which making it became evil and causing chaos almost immediately after it exist (or be freed from its seal). Though there are several more of this void creature across the dimensions and has been said to be the origin of the ancestor (as how I remember it).

Void also have the title of "destroyer of worlds" or "the true destroyer of worlds" and referred as god by hyness (the dark lord who summoned it) so it's actually unknown if this religion that hyness believe in actually do have real god or not (even confirmed by one of the dev on interview).

So that's probably all the general stuff (little of general stuff) that I do have to explain and probably the thing you just have to understand In order to understand of what I'm going to say. Ehem- so back to the topic, is bocchi void termina?

Well the first thing that them both have in similarities is that the both of them make goofy-ahh faces that is like almost identical to each other soo... that's one thing, the second thing is that I'm theorizing what if the negative energy that void get is simply bocchi anxiety, loneliness, and everything else she have been feeling that mostly is negative (when she's still alone) which make her reincarnated as.. void.

I've heard, or read a theory, or a sentence from some other game that after a person died the only thing that's left out of them is they're feeling or they're emotion. And what if (in some cases) bocchi died to some incident/accident. such as got hit by a truck and the thing that's still alive about her is her emotions, and that emotion make her reincarnated as the void termina in kirby universe since hyness is gathering as many negative energy as possible?

And the negative energy inside of hitori gotou a.k.a bocchi is as many as the energy hyness gathered? BOOM THEORY. (Sorry I felt like matpat rn lmao) even tho, there's no more support about this theory. (and perhaps never will be) except for the fact that void termina make a face that almost the same like how bocchi would make... faces.

Even though the game and anime not related at all it's pretty fun to think that as a... let's say, a headcannon perhaps? I don't know. I think that'll be all for what I have to say now, I just want to spread my own thoughts about stupid theory I have and all and all.

She doesn't necessarily bleed, but she can still get hurt. Her skin is like human flesh, but her blood is darker, reflecting iridescent color at certain lighting.

Her weapon is a Kusarigama. It's said that she obtained her weapon from the land overseen by the sustainer of heavenly principles.

Neither she nor Welt are sure who's older, but they're both the Astral Express contenders for oldest member.

Ghost Hunt x My Hero Academia

Since there are lot of a avenues to explore with this crossover, I haven't quite settled on a concrete way of going about it. (And I have other unfinished projects, too, ya'll know how it is.) For now, here is a concise list of Quirks that I imagine the Ghost Hunt characters would have in the My Hero 'verse.

SPR Itself

I don't imagine Shibuya Psychic Research would be a typical hero agency.  It’s run by Naru and Gene, but similarly to the way SPR is in canon, the regulars who frequently join in on investigations are all independent Pros, not sidekicks.  Altogether, they form a collective of heroes who frequently team up and occasionally bring in outside help.  With the exception of Naru, although his has severe drawbacks, none of them have particularly powerful Quirks, but altogether, they make up an accomplished unit. They're not strictly speaking a combat agency. Their work is geared more toward investigation, similar to how Nighteye operated.

Mai

Retrocognition:  The ability to view past events through oneiric visions.  An invaluable investigation ability that recovers indisputable testimony from the deceased victims of violent crime. She also has some astral projection abilities that allow for locating missing people, and in some cases, negotiating with villains. Which ultimately makes her a little terrifying. As the old adage says, you can't run from what's in your head.

The Davis Twins

Naru’s Quirk was easy to figure out.  It’s the same psychokinetic energy he possesses in canon and with the same drawbacks.  He can barely use it without causing damage to himself, similar to the early days of Deku’s training as well as on par with Dabi’s self-incineration risk, which is where Gene’s Quirk comes in.  His is ‘Hijack.’  He’s able to affect how others use their abilities, choosing either to cancel out a Quirk like Aizawa can or he can seriously ramp it up the way the Trigger drug is supposed to work. Kinda like how an electric transformer increases or decreases voltage power.  Since Naru can’t use his abilities without significant harm, he and Gene are often paired in tandem, sharing the hero name Twofold.

Yasuhara

True to his character, Yasu’s Quirk was both easy and difficult to pin down.  He doesn’t have any supernatural abilities in canon, so the unfortunate and obvious translation of this into an ability in My Hero would be to make him Quirkless.  But then I thought, no.  There is more to Yasu’s character than being the ‘normal’ one of the group.  He is a dissembler at heart, he loves messing with people, he’s diabolical and he lovingly adds a little extra chaos to everyone’s life.  Yasu, and I say this in the most positive way, is a little shit.

So Yasu’s Quirk is ‘Switch.’  He can temporarily swap Quirks between two different people but has a limit of three different pairs total.  Pretty handy in a fight when all the villains suddenly find themselves stuck with new powers they don’t know how to use and no way of knowing when or if it’ll switch back. Think of how many people he could mess with.

Masako

Another difficult one to pin down since her thing is channelling spirits and outside of Quirk factors and the remnants they leave behind, ghosts do not seem to exist in the My Hero world.  Since speaking with ‘Quirk factors’ would be severely limited to the vestiges of One For All and the countless Quirks All For One stole, this wouldn’t be a practical ability for anyone to have, so the spirit channeling aspect of Masako’s canon abilities had to be scrapped.  Eventually, though, I came up with 'Sound Vibration.'  Masako can pick up on vibrations that resonate long after a person has spoken, enabling her to ‘overhear’ conversations that have already happened, even if it’s been hours, days, or even years.  It’s easier for her to use in an enclosed room and nearly impossible for her to use it outdoors.  This one was inspired by her ability to hear the screams of the ghost children from the Doll House Case. Takigawa

Arguaby the hardest one of the group.  For a while, I thought about having his Quirk revolve around his chanting, but that seemed too close to Masako’s Sound Vibration, so I wanted to try something else.

Then I remembered his kekkai barriers.  Perfect.

Quirk:  Barrier.  Ability to place impenetrable barriers around intended targets.  Limits, drawbacks, and further sub-abilities pending.

John

Quirk:  Absolution.  Switching things up a bit, I decided to go with the idea John is not actually a Pro.  He is a priest with license to use his Quirk legally.  John is able to completely remove the feelings of guilt a person may have, but the caveat that said person’s remorse has to be sincere otherwise it won’t work.  Mostly, it’s for the purposes of alleviating victims of violent crime of their survivor’s guilt or even heroes who are particularly affected by a death they were unable to prevent.  Controversially, though, he does also use it for convicted villains on death row.  He’s gotten quite a bit of backlash from the public for granting this last minute mercy as it is viewed by many that the perpetrators of violent crime deserve their guilt.  John disagrees and has always claimed even the wicked deserve peace in their final moments if they truly have remorse.

The inspiration for his Quirk comes from the concept of sin-eating, wherein a person symbolically takes on the sins of another by eating a ritual meal representing said sins.

Ayako

Also not an official Pro but a doctor involved with SPR.  She has a healing Quirk that draws energy from trees and plantlife.  Again, more exploration needed, but that’s the idea so far.

Lin

I wanted to incorporate his shiki in this crossover, so Lin’s Quirk is 'Guardian Spirit.'  He is able to call upon five protective forces to keep watch over people in his absence.  He can distribute them among five people or consolidate their power by leaving all five in one place, same as canon.

Another visit from the dream guardian.

In the past, when she has called him into the Astral Plane in his dreams, it has felt like a peaceful interlude, a moment of respite from the chaos of the waking world.

Something has changed, though. The pocket dimension is no longer placid. There is an impressive, almost inaudible thumping hum at the bottom of his hearing range. His skin tingles. There is an uncomfortable feeling of anticipation, like a nail waiting for the hammer-blow.

The guardian is standing nearby, watching as he wakes. She is not in her usual armor, but instead a short, pale lavender dress. She looks inexpressibly tired; her eyes sunken into her head, jutting jaw twisting her lips into a harsh frown.

"The voice of the Absolute is stronger here," she says quietly without preamble. "I don't know how much longer I can resist it."

A pause; then she lifts her head and musters a weary smile. "But it's good to see you're making progress."

With visible effort, she takes a few steps to turn and sit beside him on the ground, looking out at the endless sea of stars surrounding them.

"You took an unexpected route here," she goes on, a bit more conversationally. "You did a brave thing, saving those people in the grove."

Hector lifts one shoulder and lowers it again. "It wasn't even a choice," he mutters. "They needed my help."

Again she smiles slightly. "Not everyone would have helped."

She flinches, inhales sharply with sudden pain, then hisses the breath out like an unspoken curse.

"It just doesn't stop," she groans. "We are being bombarded by waves of telepathic energy. Wave after wave with hardly a breath between them. I almost dare not rest..." The pain seems to ease slightly, and she goes on with less effort, "Each wave...a new set of orders to the infected." A pause, and then she adds grimly, "The order for *your* transformation has been given many times already."

Hector feels a chill shiver down his spine. So it is not only a threat, but a certainty, held only at bay by this woman, whoever she truly is. "My transformation?" he asks hollowly.

She nods. "Yes. But the orders are oddly...erratic, as if the Absolute cannot make up its mind. I don't fully understand."

Well, if you don't, I certainly don't, Hector thinks sardonically.

"In any case," she goes on. "the Absolute knows you carry me with you now. It wants to retrieve me."

"Why does the Absolute want you?" Hector asks. At this point, he doesn't expect a clear answer - but he still hopes against hope that she will give him something concrete to explain the field of safety she is still able to weave around him and his companions.

She hesitates, then shakes her head and pushes herself to her feet with a grunt of effort.

"I am the only one who can resist the Absolute's influence. Hence its fear of me, its desperation. Unfortunately, that also means it is dedicating more and more resources to my retrieval."

She looks down at him with sudden intensity. "The task ahead is monumental. But we're all that stands between victory for the Absolute and freedom for all. This is not just about you and I anymore. It has become far bigger than us."

Hector swallows. It is difficult enough to think about his own little problems, the threat of abduction, transformation, death...but to know that their actions affect the safety of so many others as well...

Selune help me...what if I can't do it? What if I fail?

"You must infiltrate Moonrise Towers," the guardian says. She recites it like a litany, their only creed, as if either of them could have forgotten the destination that lies ahead. "Discover the secrets of the Absolute and put an end to it, so we can finally be free."

Her shoulders sag, and her eyes drift half-shut. Hector feels reality going grey at the edges as the dream begins to fade back into the emptiness of sleep. "Now I must rest," she says, her voice following him back into the dark. "And you must carry on. Do not let my efforts be in vain."

I Don't Understand Rules Lawyers

I don't really follow tiktok. I don't know much about the group in this video. I barely even know anything about Curse of Strahd which is apparently what they were playing. But this is one of my favorite D&D videos of all time.

I'm sure you've watched it by now but a quick summary since it matters to this conversation: character failed a crucial check, and an unconscious player volunteered a failed death save to give her advantage, through some sort of astral projection. The DM agrees after some negotiation, and that roll causes her to not only pass the first save, but get a natural 20 on the next one to save the encounter.

I barely know anything about who the players or their characters are, but the reactions to her second roll, and the roleplaying of the moment, still make me cry. The relief on her face, the excited scream of the person behind the camera, the absolute chaos that unfolds at her nat20, including the DM himself running a lap and screaming "this is why I play this game!"

This IS why I play this game. For these absolute clutch moments that tell incredible stories that you'll be telling all your friends for the rest of your life. This video is my platonic ideal of the Rule of Cool.

A few months ago, I got into a fight on facebook (my first mistake, I know) with someone who was vehemently against Rule of Cool and giving players any sort of concessions that weren't based in Rules as Written. He argued that the rules were there for a reason, that the only way for players to learn how to play was if they followed the rules exactly. And most of all, he argued that if the DM made a single solitary Rule of Cool ruling, then the table would fall into absolute anarchy of everyone coming up with ridiculous plans and saying "Rule of Cool!" I have a lot of feelings about this.

First of all, if your players are taking advantage of you like that, you don't have a rule problem, you have a player problem. Those are the kinds of people who will take advantage of you using the rules, let alone Rule of Cool. Focus on the actual problem and get better players.

But second of all, this idea that you can never bend or rewrite the rules at all, purely because they're the rules, is against the entire spirit of roleplaying to me. Watch that tiktok again. Look at the reactions to the reroll. Look at the excitement and relief at the table when she proceeds to pass with flying colors. Look at her sobbing as the other character projects himself to her and tells her to believe. So much passion and emotion and excitement and beautiful roleplaying from one DM concession.

Why would anybody want to deny their players that? Why would the rules ever be more important than this kind of moment with your players - your friends?

It wasn't even like he was asking for a rule bend just for the sake of it. I don't know the character, but in their negotiation and the effects in game, it's clear that this has a basis in character, be it abilities, backgrounds, or simply the bond between the characters. And there was still a risk; he expended a death save, bringing him to two failures, and she still had to roll again. She could have failed that roll even after all that. There was still risk. It wasn't just "I win because Rule of Cool."

That's how Rule of Cool actually works. Being given the chance to try. And even if a DM did rule something just worked without the risk, why is that bad thing? Why would you not want to tell a better story that makes your players happier?

I also feel that kind of strict adhesion to the rules could easily become a form of railroading and even just plain gatekeeping. Imagine you're a new player, who was told that it's a game where you get to use your imagination and be creative. Then imagine being told every step of the way that this clever solution you came up with to a puzzle doesn't work because 'it's not in the rules.' You'd decide pretty quickly that you didn't want to play anymore, wouldn't you. You're not actually being taught anything except that you're not actually allowed to be creative, so screw that idea that rules lawyering teaches better.

DMs of the world, please remember: it's not a competition between you and your players, it's a conversation. Both of you are working together to tell a story. And if someone suggests something that's not in the book but would be really cool if it worked, considering letting them try. Nobody is going to care if something was in the rules or not years down the line, but they're going to care immensely about how their crazy plan worked...or laugh about how it didn't. And they will care a lot if the idea they were excited about got shut down without another thought just because this hyperspecific plan wasn't in the rules.

Let go of your need to be handcuffed to the rules. Rule 0 exists for a reason. Your games will be better and more memorable for it.

Sorry to send two asks about this but I was reading through some of the rivals lore dumps and saw some interesting things. Strange is his own reality’s sorcerer supreme and he’s fighting against Dracula, who has trapped New York in endless night and seeks the darkhold. He also mentions having a daughter named Sofia, who I just learned was a character (intended to be his daughter but never established as such).

He and au SS Wanda team up to fight Dracula and get the darkhold (Wanda wants it bc she thinks she needs it to save her reality from collapsing) and Wanda suggests recruiting Moon Knight, which I assume is the reason for her moon knight cosplay outfit and I’d imagine is setting up some kind of midnight sons mystic team in universe? I’d love to see blade added eventually.

Unrelated but Storm’s lore kind of implies Krakoa and arakko are long running societies and not something established within the last few years, though magneto also discusses genosha

Yeah, so it seems like most the characters in Rivals are from different realities. Again, this is nothing new-- a lot of recent Marvel video games have used a multiverse crossover as a basic premise-- but I appreciate that Rivals makes very intentional continuity references, including some deep cuts that really show a famliarity with the source material.

Wanda is from a world where many of her fellow magicians, including Stephen, have died in a "Demon War" in Las Vegas, which reminds me of the Damnation event from 2018. Wanda is now the Sorcress Supreme and her Sanctum is located on Mount Wundagore. She's never encountered the Darkhold herself, but is apparently familiar wiht Chthon and, obviously, has a mastery of chaos magic, which she has been using the stabilize her reality throughout the Timestream Entanglement.

I don't know if I agree that Storm's story entry necessarily indicates that Krakoa or Arakko have been around longer than they were in 616 continuity-- don't forget, the Arakki civilization existed for millennia before being brought back to Earth. Similar to Wanda, Storm uses her powers to stabilize reality during the Timestream Entanglement, although it causes the two islands to merge together. I thought this was a really clever use of Ororo's Omega-level atmokinesis— she approaches the Entanglement as a sort of time-storm, which allows her to control it.

Stephen's story doesn't reveal much-- he basically gets cut off from his body while astral projecting and trapped in the Astral Plane when it gets messed up by the Entanglements. He sees a bunch of alternate-universe Sorcerer Supremes, inlcuding Sofia Strange, who is a character from a one-shot comic from 2004, so that is a truly impressive deep cut. There's a Jericho shoutout in here, too, which is nice.

28th- Death upright | Endings, change, transformation, transition How’s the future for Zexal characters? Show us what you think a Zexal character (or several) are doing post-series or how they look when they grow up?

I believe most of them are still living in Heartland (but still travel elsewhere etc) and I thought of some cool careers and things they could be doing:

Yuma - pro duelist this was a given considering it was his dream, only fair to make it come true when he's grown up

Astral - warrior/protector, interdimensional researcher his role in Astral-Barian World remains the same. After the worlds were forcibly fused together, there need to be someone to keep all that Chaos in check so that the Astralians don't disappear. He also helps with pooling interdimensional knowledge since he, himself, is not human and lives in somewhere other than Earth

Kotori - kindergarten teacher I think she would make a good teacher and her likeable and caring personality would be popular among little kids and their moms

Ryoga - marine biologist and/or interdimensional researcher Shark was never extremely passionate about dueling and I believe all that drama throughout the series would definitely drive him away from dueling professionally again, I do see him as a scientist though. As Astral, he has experience first hand with being non-human (formerly)

Kaito - engineer, interdimensional researcher already things he was from the start of the series, so no massive changes except for his age and being more experienced (eventually taking over his father's laboratory)

Rio - pro duelist, model, actor, athlete she showed how much she is capable of so it's only natural that she would hone those skills and have an active life doing several different things. She preferred modeling for environmental causes, acting in stage/theater and competing in winter sports

Tetsuo - pro skater, model, maybe also pro duelist I think it would be so much fun if Tetsuo started skating professionally and I can totally see him rocking urban/alternative apparel and making a lot of money/fame as a model

Tokunosuke - "entrepreneur" he's still swindling people, just a little bit smarter about it

Cathy - pet groomer of course she will work with animals, what did you think?

Takashi - paralegal don't see him as a lawyer but I do see him working in justice. That was pretty much a given, considering his personality

Anna - pro duelist and stunt performer it would be freaking hilarious to see her as a stuntperson so, why not?

Haruto - interdimensional research assistent by choice, Haruto doesn't get involved directly in his family's research, so he takes on a organizational and administrative role more

III - historian, researcher, writer I like to think that III had a very important role in the ongoing discovery of all interdimensional things due to his profound knowledge of the past and how it influences today. He never sought fame but it comes to him anyway with all his published papers

IV - pro duelist, model all that interdimensional stuff? He's not interested in the slightest. IV duels his way to the top of the top and, as usual, he's very smug about it. He can be, he's that good

Durbe - professor (perhaps a specialist in linguistics) I can't see Durbe as anything else than an academic, he just has that vibe going on for him

Vector - ??? who even know about Vector. He's rich, somehow. He comes and goes as he pleases and when people ask he says something like "don't worry about it ;-)"

Alito - bartender, dancer I'd love to see Alito excelling in all kinds of dances, receiving accolades because of just how skilled he is, and working in the local nightlife seems like it would suit him

Gilag - bodybuilder, strongman yeah, that's about it. He's got the muscles for it, he should use them

Mizael - interdimensional researcher it was surprisingly tricky to figure him out? And I feel like he takes on a more mixed role, not too hands-on and not too detached either. He's mainly helping the Tenjos with in-field research

most of the other characters I didn't mention here are most likely following the same path as the show.. Fuya is still an actor; Faker, Byron/Tron and V are scientists and interdimensional researchers; Droite is a manager and Gauche is a pro duelist/wrestler

in most my headcanons, everyone was resurrected by the Numeron Code including Don Thousand. I'm unsure of his role but he would stand together with Eliphas in Astral-Barian World, their roles as the most powerful beings (akin to gods) would be to maintain the harmony. Ena would be more of a messenger and mediator. As Vector, Number 96 would be mysterious, but he mostly stays in that world, challenging Astral to duels here and then

What happens to the soul of a person who avoids their ultimate fate by creating a shabti? If they go to the plane matching their alignment, it seems like they don't actually escape their fates at all.

This may come as a surprise, but many mortals of a particular alignment sometimes don't end up going to the afterlife matching that alignment, especially if their actions fall in line more with Law or Chaos while their own alignment is the opposite (or Neutral). Rather than simply being mindlessly sorted by their alignment, many mortals--especially the rich, influential, and powerful mortals who'd be able to make a Shabti in the first place--are actually judged in an actual court where their deeds are brought to light before a proper audience. Depending on what they've done in life, they may not end up going where you'd think they were going!

TN, LN, and CN people can famously swing either up or down depending on their actions in life, and some CN souls might not want to take the chance of ending up in the Abyss when they could frolic around in the Maelstrom, instead. More famously, Hell doesn't care what your alignment is, only that you've made a bargain with its denizens and thus your soul is forfeit to it. I assume many Shabti were created specifically to avoid the fires while the deal-maker got to reap the benefits of the infernal contract. There's also the more hilarious edge case that occurs when the paranoid creator of a Shabti ends up being judged to go to one of the Upper Planes: the Shabti goes to Axis instead, while the soul is still shunted into whatever plane matches its alignment, potentially screwing them out of their eternal reward.

More fittingly though, there's a small but important sentence hidden in the Sovereign Shabti item entry: "If the soul was condemned to torment or labor, the shabti goes in its place—the bound individual’s spirit traveling to some favorable corner of a plane matching her alignment."

Emphasis mine. The victim doesn't necessarily have to end up in one of the traditional afterlife planes; they may very well end up in an Elemental Plane, the Dimension of Dreams, one of the energy planes, or the Astral Plane. Even if they do end up going to Hell, or the Abyss, or Abaddon, they end up in a 'favorable corner,' presumably somewhere safe where they can begin to use their former powers and connections to try and carve out a niche for themselves... or at least avoid torment for a time. It doesn't seem like much but delaying the inevitable though, doesn't it? Especially since Psychopomps are constantly on the lookout for Shabti who've been wrongly sorted, freeing the poor souls from their situation and then hunting down the actual escapee and put them where they needed to go.

There are terrible prices all around involved in the process. Spending 130,000gp on a Sovereign Shabti to earn yourself maybe another decade of relative peace after death... And you know once Pharasma's forces find you, your judgment will be all the worse due to the new evidence against you (”condemning an innocent in your place”). It can even backfire if you turned out to be an alright person in the end!

It hardly seems worth it at all, doesn't it?

But that's the inherent danger in trying to fight fate.

After eleven long years, the Bifrost is finally mine- and who better to wield it than Aesa Curtaincall's theatrical gay ass?

I haven't talked about Aesa yet, so let's:

She's so short that she's often mistaken for a human. There are no meaningful benefits to this except saving at the tailor.

She's a Mesmer in the Elonian tradition- picked up Miragerie during the Kralkatorrik crisis, while she was volunteering to help Vigil in Thunderhead Peaks. The upswing of this is that she fights by making numerous copies of herself, so that she can see how hot and awesome she looks in the midst of the chaos.

When Cantha opened, she went mostly as a tourist. I don't think of her as a Commander. She was an actress before the dragons got all ornery.

But now, there's wizards- and she's finally found her calling.
