Tumblr media
I just made a new sideblog and found out this setting (found under "Edit Appearance") (now found under "Blog Settings") is disabled by default.
Edit: Tumblr settings are unpredictable and devious. This may not be disabled by default for you. People have also said that their themes have been removed. Please look to the notes if experiencing complications.
This means that ALL new blogs will NOT have a [username].tumblr.com page. Not only that, but they will not have any themes besides the mobile-default.
As someone who really likes custom themes and Tumblr still having a fully customizable profile page, please turn this on!
You can make a website for your tumblr blog that is entirely your own!
Finding posts on your URL.tumblr.com page is much easier due to the ability to use your Archive and url.tumblr.com/tagged/[tag] pages!
Visiting your mutual's tumblr pages will become much more fun if they do the same! I used to always associate blogs with the themes they had, but that's sadly not possible anymore :(
If Tumblr themes die out, it will truly be an end of an era for the internet, and the future will hold only mobile-orientated, endless-scroll design devoid of personality.
Even if you don't like themes, this is a move that almost destroys Tumblr's origin as a blogging website and showcases the takeover of social-media-sameness.
Tumblr media
Having your own URL and custom theme is fun! Try it today!!!
Edit: I focused on promoting custom themes but I do encourage people to simply turn on this setting for the URL. You can pick a free tumblr theme or even leave on the tumblr mobile-orientated default!
Also sorry I didn't think of this until now, but there are versions of this post in the reblogs without the colored text, with extra information, with how to find this setting, and troubleshooting why it might not be working!

The meaning of the nickname Half-Blood Prince
Tumblr media
Wizarding World has this article: This article explains the meaning of the nickname Half-Blood Prince. From this article, we can see that he was a person who did not lie or deny his origins and identity.
‘Half-Blood’
But as Harry went on to say, you don’t get many Death Eaters boasting of their half-blood status. Or many who are in love with a Muggle-born, for that matter. Snape’s elaborate title for himself reflects his conflicted stance on the question of wizarding ancestry and the pure-bloodedness so beloved by Voldemort. He always seemed half-way between good and something darker.

Hi again Lyn, hope you're having a good weekend! I saw your reply to another anon about your blog name and its origins and how it's an artifact of when Dark Autumn was your only character, and since I'm also in the process of conjuring up a FFXIV blog name so I don't have to be anonymous anymore (:P), it got me wondering...
If you were to think of a blog name now, now that you have 4 characters and Aeryn's your canon WoL, would it end up being something different? Something like @/aerynsrapier? Or would it still be Dark-related?
Thanks for reading and have a great day! :)
Ooh, good question. The URL would probably not be tied to a specific character at all, actually!
My romantic inspirations/aesthetics blog, for instance, is @farawayreflections based on another FF game's song lyrics. I have @secondspark for general RPG related stuff, and that comes from an old lore tidbit (that I'm not even sure is still canon, I'd have to go digging) from Critical Role. I have @lynmarswarcraft for many of my old WoW alts, but @red-alynore and @vembermarlon still exist for those specific characters; I used to have other blogs for various alts, named for them specifically, but that got tiresome to keep separate blogs for all those OCs, so they were deleted and consolidated, with Alynore and Vember's staying for general aesthetics (paladin/engineer/enchanter/werewolf partner, and druid/witchy/werewolf self).
One thing I decided early for this sideblog was even if I did make alts, they'd all stay on the single blog together, alongside other FF game references. It's worked out much better for me in many ways!
So, likely I'd use a phrase, lyric, title, or a favorite class ability as inspiration for a blog name. There's a few good examples for that last one, like @blackestnight (from Dark Knight) or @foewreckem (old Bard ability Foe's Requiem; RIP, Never Forget). Or, a URL would reference more than one character through certain similarities, like the fact all my girls have canon Aiming jobs cuz phys ranged is my favorite role even if RDM is my favorite job (with BRD and DNC in close competition). An inside joke or pun (foewreckem is also an example of that) would also be real tempting.
My blog's title, and a thread of scenes for Aeryn on Ao3, is currently "Living Memory" based on a Shadowbringers title, but 7.0 has brought us new context for that phrase, and I am debating changing at least the blog title. Maybe Aeryn's story thread too, I dunno. I'm kinda annoyed about it, but want there to be clarity and not certain associations. I have a Discord thread in the FC server called "(Red) Mage's Ballads" so maybe a play on that. Titles are easy to swap around and play with, though.
But the blog URL will stay as it is. Though were I to make a new blog/site for FF specifically (like if Pillowfort ever does sideblogs, and I decide to split out my FF content there), it would likely be more general.

The official website, Wizarding World, states that James Potter "bullied Snape for no reason."
Tumblr media
James Potter – the one who tormented Snape for no good reason
Lily asked James Potter, "What did Snape do wrong?" Harry thinks that Snape did something wrong to deserve being bullied, but at the same time, he remembers Lily's words and realizes that Snape did nothing wrong. Sirius himself admitted that their actions were not correct. Remus, who watched everything, reminds Harry that the prejudices of James Potter and Sirius Black gave rise to unnecessary hatred. In material found on the "official" website, Wizarding World, it is written: "James Potter – the one who tormented Snape for no good reason."
Some people argue that Snape was innocent only during the SWM incident, and that Snape must have done something wrong before that that deserved punishment from James. But that's not true. If that's true, then why did the article on the official website above say something like that when describing James Potter to Harry? Even before the SWM incident, there is no data showing that Snape attacked the Marauders first and was attacked in retaliation.
Snape and James had been competing all along, and I tried to find official evidence that it was a mutual assault, but I couldn't find any. Harry describes Sirius Black's gaze as he looked at Snape, who was checking his test papers under a tree, as "a hound looking at a rabbit." Even Lily defends Snape, calling him a 'weak'. This is not a typical depiction of competition.
JK Rowling by comparing him to Peter and describing him as unstable and vulnerable. Alan Rickman, who heard about Snape's past from Rowling, explained Lily and Snape's past in an interview.
"Lily Potter really tried to be nice with him, but Snape couldn't support her pity."
If Snape had the ability to fight and win first, Lily wouldn't have stepped up and defended him, or given him sympathetic comfort. The description they want, “arch-rival” appears in “The Marauder’s Map,” written by JK Rowling herself in Wizarding World.
Tumblr media
The map was stolen when was in 7th grade, just before graduation. It is said that the map was confiscated following a tip from Snape, who was trying to report James Potter's crimes. There, finally, the description of “arch-rival” appears…
but...
This is a description of the 7th grade, not the last 6 years. Remus's description of James Potter in Year 7, and Snape's description in the material describing the Marauders' Map. Based on the data released so far, if you want to call the two people rivals, you can say it starting from the 7th grade of graduation.
as a result In the canon I've found so far, JK Rowling's interviews, Alan Rickman's interviews, officially published setting materials, and posts from the Wizarding World, I haven't found anything to suggest that Snape attacked the Marauders before his 7th grade year. And I couldn't find any data that said Snape before 7th grade had a legitimate reason to be bullied by James Porter.
Sirius attacked Snape because he was a student in the dormitory he disliked, and James attacked the snape he because seemed close to lily. The fact that he's a weirdo who knows the dark arts well is just an excuse. There was never any talk of attacking Mulciber and Avery, who were actually tormenting others with dark magic. Marauders also bullied other students, but They bullied only Snape for really childish reasons.
