The nature of tumblr is so weird because like. Azure is a drizzile. I don't think they're good at being a drizzile though /j but they sure as hell are one!

they're basically just me if I were a drizzile. that also applies to the things like gender and pronouns. so both me and Azure are non binary and use any pronouns

the world that Azure lives in is also basically just the real world. only instead of the different continents it's the actual pokemon regions. also yes tpc exists in their universe and so do the pokemon games and anime and other pokemon related media

if it makes you feel any better i love multifandom blogs. im a ml and tloz fan so i enjoy most of the stuff you post, but even with the toh stuff (that ive never watched before) i think its really fun to see your reactions to it even if i have no clue whats going on (and when theres been too much toh on my dash i just blacklist it) but you rock and i like following a genuine well rounded person with multiple interests rather than just a blog curated to one singular thing and i feel like a lot of people would agree with me

Part of the reason I got into tloz was all the beautiful botw fanart I saw on my dash. And I got into toh bc so many of the ml people I followed were into haha. in my tags under that post i wasn't referring to you or any other mutual who reblogs fics, i meant the writers. because even if someone reblogs a post without adding their own tags, if the original poster tagged it with a tag i have filtered, it still will be filtered for me

but the thing is not everyone does that, and even if i have so many tags filtered that if i screenshoted them rn it would take a few photos, some writers tag their works with such unusual things that i would never come up with and therefore i still see them, they're also usually without the read more feature so i have to scroll through a post equivalent to the "do you love the color of the sky" and it's... annoying

also while we're at it i want to generally clear up some things. it's not that the existence of fanfics bothers me. im not against fanfiction and writers at all - the opposite actually, i think writers are doing great job and it's cool that the readers can find many types of stories they would like. i don't read fanfiction but i think it's cool that it exists, even the self inserts. with these i have special problem when they appear on my dash because of personal reasons lol, im very very romanse repulsed when it comes to non-platonic interactions directed my way in a non-joking way so i think you can imagine that seeing a story where i am supposed to be a character getting in a relationship or whatever with a fictional character that i would never think of in such a way is... quite uncomfortable to me, and that's why i try to filter it. also because im simply not interested in reading literally any fanfiction but that's another thing

R. Which friendship/platonic relationship is your favorite in fandom?

...It would be lying to myself to pretend that Dean/Benny is a valid answer to this question, bc that shit wasn't platonic. (This is one area where I will have destiel levels of delusion. That shit was a RELATIONSHIP.)

So. You know, I don't ship it -- certainly not in any of the ways I tend to see it, haha -- but I am actually really interested in Sam+Rowena. Note the lack of slash, lol. Idk if it's my 'favorite' since that's hard to judge, but I'm really interested in how they slowly creep to... what I won't call friendship, actually, but mutual respect and trust of a kind. They understand each other, and it's a Very Very Rare relationship Sam has that's almost entirely outside of Dean. I really am not interested in them hooking up or whatever but I'm interested in the way they both know they could -- the knowing looks they exchange -- but the way that's not... necessary, at all, or even really wanted, bc of the very nature of what's shared. I forever regret Rowena's last ep (not even counting the shitty queen dreck) for making it so explicit and boring. Let me live forever in the way Sam dealt with her in that reapers ep. Much better.

hmm that's interesting! Well, I cheer on eve for her middle-aged karate gays. I wave hello to the Harry/Draco people, bc I haven't been in HP fandom since like... 2009, and that wasn't even my ship, but it's neat to see a little flood of it occasionally (and I'll drop everything if astolat writes a fic for it). Star Wars would have to count here, bc I don't particularly like it but hell if I don't know a bunch of shit that happens in it, lol. And if Timothy Olyphant is something I pay a-fucking-ttention, even if... I'm probably never gonna watch it, sorry Timmy. :/

lol, I am definitely calling out historical chinese gays here. Every time I learn the name of that show I forget it in .8 seconds so you're just going to have to trust me -- one is cute and wears black and one is er less cute and wears white, they're soulmates or something, there's a LOT of fucking gifs. I don't care that people like the show; I care that the people who like it tag it 97 different ways, if they tag it at all, so it is IMPOSSIBLE to escape. Definitely unfollowed some people after scrolling past an untagged string of undifferentiable b&w boys-posting.

You may have gotten blocked in the “winc*st-adjacent” craze a few months back. Everyone who has ever reblogged a reblog of a reblog from a winc*st shipper got canceled. I have the tag blocked, and sometimes you post things that were at one point tagged as winc*st.

I absolutely understand that there are some people who need a bullet-proof boundary around things like that. That doesn’t make all the people who don’t need that hard boundary into predators. Purity culture is a mess.

I’m very sorry if those blocks hurt you, because you are the last person on earth to deserve it.

one of them blocked me almost from the moment i made this blog, it's more confusing than anything else (that little part of my brain that fears rejection and the larger part that is continually anxiety-ridden goes, but what did I do?! even though consciously i realize it's not a big deal in the scheme of things! it's just jarring when i go to reblog an edit from S1 or something and tumblr says, "no, you can't do that!" me: "i only want to appreciate the nice posts!" ;___;).

as far as i know, i didn't get caught in the great blocklist purge, but a few of my close friends/mutuals did, and that hurt me more than when i'm blocked myself because i love them and know what amazing people they are (mutuals i will be glad to be canceled with, they're burning all the witches even if you aren't one, but i will happily claim my witchery. <3 besides, if one must block me, at least block me for my gothic romanticism soul mate meta and my annoyingly effusive love/dean feelings posts 😌), and that list was nothing but a bizarre/ugly public shamefest (i block people for things i find upsetting, too, hence why half of dean cr*tical/anti fandom is on my list lol, but i have no intention of dragging them in a mass post, we are in completely separate circles and that's fine! the blacklist also exists to help us ignore topics we don't want to see for whatever reason, it's a very helpful feature and doesn't require drama...we all have the prerogative to make our own spaces as comfortable and enjoyable for ourselves as possible, but it doesn't need to be widely disseminated). some of the people on that list didn't even belong there, there was really no care or caution about who that might hurt - not that perceived (judgmental) "guilt" matters on an issue like this, because the puritanical outlook of doing that to people is so oppressive and disturbing in and of itself. self-protection is valid and important and always subjective. purity culture is...not interested in that, it's interested in thought policing and deriding people. it's like new wave mccarthyism, putting people on a list of sinners - "are you now or have you ever been [insert 'offense' here]." and i get that it started from a place of caring about real issues, which is a whole other important discussion, but applying that to transformative FICTIONAL fandom to the point where real people, who may potentially be vulnerable or sorting through difficulties of their own, are put on blast because they were seen dancing in the moonlight is one of my least favorite phenomenons in current fandom culture. (also, people tag things with ship names for various reasons all the time even when it's totally innocuous - there was a post on my dash the other day that was blacklisted, not even spn fandom, and i clicked on it out of curiosity and the post wasn't even about a ship, it was a quote, but someone along the way had probably tagged it for their own interests/blog and that's completely fine too!) there is also the aspect to consider that many corners of fandom are predominately women-created content, and women are chastened and judged so often for exploring and communicating and imagining that all we're doing is fueling more silencing of safe spaces for female expressionism.

tl;dr i'm sorry you didn't ask for an essay, but this has been on my mind SO much lately.

it makes me sad that we do have such stringent dividing lines and that fandom has become a bit of a minefield because i think it's stifling creativity and discussion in some ways since that divisiveness has fueled a lot of unfair bullying. we're supposed to be having fun! i love how passionate so many of us are! i wish we could have that without the toxicity, but i know every fandom has factions like this. this is very rambly, but in sum - purity culture is a mess - you're right.

AHHhhHHHhh thank you so much for 1.1k followers!! Originally, I was supposed to do this when I reached 1k but uh... life happened.
