PART ONE: before the concert

plan out everything beforehand, a couple days to a week in advance. this includes where you will park (if you drive) or who you will ride with. if you're of drinking age you also need to plan who in your group is drinking (or doing other drugs) and who is the designated driver (if you aren't taking a taxi/uber/public transport)

wear comfortable clothes that you can move around in / that won't add to your overstimulation. this includes shoes that are good for standing/walking for long periods of time

practice scripts for if you accidentally bump into someone or need to move past someone ("excuse me" "sorry" etc)

if you want to participate in a mosh pit, you may want to bring a friend to hold your AAC device or go low/no tech for the concert. mosh pits can be exciting but i definitely wouldn't bring your ipad or SGD into one! i tend to go to concerts alone so instead of my ipad i brought a boogie board to write on, which is far less breakable

concerts can be loud, so you'll need ear defenders, headphones or earplugs. i like to use silicon ear plugs bc they stay in my ears even when im bouncing around a lot!

if you are going with friends, have a pre-determined signal that lets your group know "i need a break" or "i need to leave"

make sure to charge your devices beforehand. a lot of tickets are virtual these days, so your phone becomes your ticket.

PART TWO: at the concert!

when you get to the venue, you'll likely have to go through security and show your ID and tickets. be ready for this.

when you get inside, you can find your seats (if assigned) or go to the floor (if general admission) IF CROWDS MAKE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE you should hang out in the back of general admission. this gives you more space to move around and breathe. if you don't mind getting close to people, being close to the stage can be awesome! but i definitely recommend earplugs bc its really loud near the stage

just because everyone else is doing something doesn't mean you also have to do it! if everyone else has their phone/lighter out and is waving it and you don't want to, you don't have to! this goes for many other things as well. if everyone else is drinking, or doing drugs (weed is pretty common at the concerts i go to) you don't have to! if everyone else is screaming or shouting the words, you don't have to!

just because the singer onstage tells the crowd to jump, or get down, or wave your hands or any number of other things doesn't mean you have to! you can do what you're comfortable with. after all, you're at the concert to have a good time, so you should do what makes you feel the best.

you don't have to sing along if you can't speak! you can say as much or as little as you want. instead of yelling you can clap, instead of shouting the lyrics you can hum, etc.

concerts are great to get some full body stimming in! you can rock, sway, stomp or flap your hands to the beat. you can even jump up and down! you do need to be mindful of other people though - people tend to flock close together on the floor or in the pit and if you bounce around enough, you might run into someone! that's totally ok, it happens, just apologize and move on!

if you're moving around a lot, you need to be mindful of how your body feels throughout the concert. are you overheated? are you sweating? do you need water or to sit down?

its ok to leave at any point in the concert, even in the middle of a set or a song! your well being is the most important thing and its important to pay attention to what your body needs. its not a good idea to "push through" just to see your favorite artists. seeing 50% of a concert is better than seeing 0% of a concert or seeing 80% of a concert and having to leave suddenly because you have a meltdown

ultimately, do whatever you want as long as you're not causing harm to other people or yourself

do not try to make friends with the security guards. they dont really like that. i don't totally understand why but i get the impression that it is because they are working and have to keep a close eye on the crowd, and talking to them can distract them from their job.

PART THREE: after the concert!

concerts are a huge ordeal for anyone, not just disabled folks. that being said, it definitely takes a bigger toll on you when you are disabled and need extra support to recover from overstimulating environments. be gentle with yourself after the concert and give yourself grace if you are extra tired or having a hard time with things that are usually easy for you in the hours or days after the concert

as soon as you get home, have a snack and a drink of water (or juice/electrolyte drink). singing along and jumping / dancing can make you dehydrated. even if you don't feel hungry or thirsty you should have something to eat and drink. you may be riding a high of being excited or happy to hear your favorite music and not be able to discern what your body is telling you.

get lots of rest when you get home. try to sleep in the next day if you can. your body will probably be tired.

if you're feeling tired or irritable after the concert because of the emotional exhaustion you might feel, try to put on a relaxing video or do something that regulates you.

you lay in his (basically yours at this point) black silk sheets, tossing and turning, kicking your feet in nothing but a small black vest and your underwear. no matter how much you shimmied around, your feet felt hot, your entire body burned with a heat that made your sweat feel unbearably lukewarm and sticky on your skin.

the sheets were most definitely damp from all the cold (now room temperature) towels that you had used to try to cool your body. but to no avail. nothing was making it more bearable. 5 cool towels around your neck just didn't cut it.

and so, you crawl across the endless expanse of bedding to grab your phone (with some difficulty). there was only one person you wanted to see you like this.

you spam him with this sticker about 10 times before the three dots finally appear. you wait for two seconds...five...ten...god why is this message taking so long? you grumble, huffing with his pillow tucked under your chin and contemplating throwing your phone against the plush back of his bed.

he calls you before you manage to hurl your device,

"kitten? do you need something? i'm at the store now."

"huh? i thought you said you'd be at an auction?"

he chuckles,

"i was at one. but you only text when you want something... or if you miss me... and considering how you're in my room and i saw you this morning, i assume it's the former. though i'd be very flattered if it was the latter."

"i also text when i see something that reminds me of you."

"that fits into the latter." he smile through the phone. you can faintly hear the bustle of the convenience store as well.

"...i feel a fever coming on. can you get me some ice cream?"

"got it. what else?"

"i want you..." you mumble into his pillow, feeling sluggish.

"..."

"respond..." you whine close to tearing up.

but before you can pick up more of a fuss, he's already next to the bed with a grocery bag in one hand and his phone in the other and his evol swirling around him.

not really thinking, you immediately go to nuzzle your heated face into his tummy. it's not really that comfortable, and you brush against the cold metal of his zippers that scratch at your face. but, nonetheless, it's just what you needed. he always is.

he puts away his phone and the bag onto the floor, gently carding through your hair and his voice a soft rumble,

"hi sweetie... want your ice cream now?"

"later..." you take his hands, putting them on your face in a happy mewl, "so cool..."

"aren't you just a cutie? does my princess want me to cool her down?" he smiles, sliding one hand down to your sweltering neck. you exhale in satisfaction, it's a little congested and you look like a sticky mess...but he thinks you're adorable. he always will.

spoiling you was irreplaceable to him. there was nothing in the world more special than the feeling of being your one and only prince, dictated by his only princess. you could have anything you wanted, be as bratty and as demanding as you wanted, surrounded by luxuries and comfort and you chose him to be your supplier and partner in it all. it was undeniably his favourite feeling in the world.

you nod, settling like putty into his large hands. gently but surely bringing you back to a comfortable temperature. as you drift off, you hear him softly humming to you a lullaby. something familiar but yet not quite. he might not have ever experienced the song in his own childhood, but everything he found beautiful and comforting was something he would share with you.

your life adorned in joy and comfort would always be his priority.

Happy Birthday to me

I KNOW my birthday was already a few days ago, but the reasons for this delay and the lack of posts in general will be explained in the tags. Feel free to skip it tho!

This entire post is for the (at most: seven) Fayrouz fans whom I've promised to release "canon" lore of😭

Press read more for Fayrouz lore!

Before I infodump on my Turquoise lore, just want to let yall know that Fayrouz has two canons,

Turquoise AU (her actual canon storyline, i'd say)

and NRC AU (game adjacent au which i only made bc i wanted her to interact with the other characters).

Turquoise AU was based on a small animatic concept I made when I i finished Book 4 (around 3 years ago) where I wanted to give Jamil a cute shy girlfriend. Thatse it.... (p.s. i made a small ErosEpel AU and i might revive that too)

This animatic was heavily based on themes and symbolisms, like Turquoise Sky, Scalding Hot Sun, Golden Cage, etc, instead of actual Disney related stuff. And without that context Fayrouz being twisted from the sky wouldn't really make sense😭

In Turquoise AU, Fayrouz is a magicless, lowly servant. I haven't decided if Fayrouz will have parents yet, but even if she does, they're very emotionally abusive. Her perception of herself as disposable and more worthless than a grain of sand is what's relevant here, so either she adopts that mentality from the other servants or from her own parents.

One day, during a party, Fayrouz sees someone pour some suspicious liquid into someone's drink. Before the owner could drink it, she slapped it out of his hand. The person being Kalim. He asks her why she did that, and she tells him. A person put something inside his drink. The crowd erupts into chaos and they're both dragged away before they could say another word (Fayrouz for interrogation, and Kalim for protection)

Kalim (in my barely put together AU) is lowkey kinda lonely?? He has Jamil, sure. His siblings too. But after the first assassination attempt, he was forbidden from interacting with the other servants. even some of his own siblings. He's determined to befriend Fayrouz, because, in his mind, she's *safe*. She saved his life. That's enough proof for him, and apparently for his father, who allowed him to befriend Fayrouz (or try to)

Shenanigans ensue, where Kalim tries to interact with Fayrouz while she tries her best to avoid him. (She's intimidated by the Asim's. Doesn't help that an older servant told her lies that Kalim's dad beheads people to scare her). Kalim defeatedly asks Jamil for help, and talks to Fayrouz in his favour. This marks the prolouge? beginning? I guess? They all become friends.

I haven't really fleshed out the story after this, but I'll note some important info:

• Fayrouz's self esteem is absolutely dogshit. I'm talking down the shitters abysmal. Self-loathing to the absolute MAX. I say this because this is a crucial flaw of Fayrouz which leads to some crucial plot points.

• Fayrouz is immediately enamoured by Jamil. Fayrouz sees herself as clumsy, talentless and pathetic, so seeing someone her age be so talented was enough to envelop her in pure admiration (and jealousy, but it doesn't last long). She asks him to teach her everything he knows. And so, growing up, they did everything together. (I'll make comics exploring their relationship in the future if im able to🫠🫠🫠)

• An important plot point in this AU is Fayrouz going missing. Two years before Jamil and Kalim enter NRC, Fayrouz suddenly disappears.

• Im not sure how exactly they'd meet, but Kalim's relative Jasmir (canon relative. i checked. Not the name though, i made that up) forms a sibling-like bond with Fayrouz. Growing up as an only child, he craved for companionship, and was jealous of Kalim always being surrounded by younger siblings. He found the companionship he wanted in Fayrouz.

• Jasmir has a servant twisted from Rajah called Khan(placeholder name). He isn't important to the plot i just love him.
