@hallow-grove || cont. from here
Okay so not only was the rat larger than the average rat, it appeared that she could speak. Huh. Antares supposed he had encountered stranger things around Bayfloat anyways though.
"Yeah..I got some pointy bits fixed into it. Don't wanna play with needles now, do we?"
He retrieved a little plastic container from a pocket and withdrew his tail. Then with a soft 'click' a syringe, half-filled with a colourless fluid, was ejected into the container.
"Mmm..I can balance just fine without it. It's mostly for grabbing and ..uh.." He made a vague stabbing motion with his tail.

. ✦ ݁ ˖ @5mind sent in: A series of messages have been texted to Ophelia. [ hey, its me. ] [ terry from the tasing booth.] [ this IS the correct number right? if its not forget it. ] [ i didn't get your name so uh...hey. what do i save your number under ? ]
Tumblr media
[💜] BZZ. BZZ…BZZ…BZZ.
Ophelia had been napping when she got the messages, but was soon stirred awake by one buzz after another. She yawned and rubbed the sleep out from her eye— but all it really took to wake her up was to see who messaged her. <- She giggled and squealed and kicked her feet!!!
[ awwww yay!!! u actually texted me <3 that makes me so happy! ]
[ oopsie! my name is ophelia :) terry is a cute name ]
[ did you save any lives after we left?? lol ]
While she waited, she added his contact info to her phone! … and stared at emojis for a good while to include with his name. Which one to pick…? ⚡️ maybe? That didn’t seem right for some reason…

The invitation envelope is sealed with blue wax, the outline of the Meriet royal seal carefully pressed into the the center. The invitation itself consists of a single letter that reads:
❝The kingdom of Brecaea cordially invites you to join them in celebrating the Festival of the Blue Moon. We humbly look forward to your presence in ushering in a new lunar season that is set to begin on at . We advise that you dress in light, airy clothing and have footwear that will not be damaged by any amount of water. We also advise that you arrive by sunset on the first day of the festivities in order to fully experience the welcoming ceremony.❞
Along the bottom of the letter, the words “Please dip in water and turn over.” is written in neat lettering along the bottom of the invitation card. Once done, the rest of the letter continues as follows:
❝An additional, private gathering will be held at Castle Luvalon throughout the entire event. Overnight accommodations will be provided to all guests with this invitation. We advise you keep it in a safe place, to bring it with you on your travels, and to present it to castle staff upon arrival. Your host, Queen Dakota Tetrarch of Meriburn❞
(for those attending the Brecaea party)

"You're going to come with? That's surprising; I thought you hated socializing and party stuff."
Jawyr laughed at the look his father gave him over his shoulder-- the older man rolling his eyes as he nodded his head outside the window, to where the gigantic crystal, Innaius floated in the air above the castle grounds.
Tumblr media
"Very funny. I just don't like socializing and party stuff when it concerns a gaggle of prying or stuffy nobility, and whatever other gossip mongers decide to swarm me the second I'm by myself. But...Lerato wants to visit Cassandra and Dakota with Joseph, and I'd rather not risk him running out of energy and collapsing while on an entirely different continent. So we'll be heading to Brecaea first, and leaving halfway through to go to Meriburn...granted no word comes that I'm needed back here. The others should be able to keep a handle on things in the meantime, though...and if not, we teleport back."

Tumblr media
"Are you sure you and Rei should be going? With the way current events are right now, it'll be risky."
Tumblr media
"You're coming as well, Varius. Do you not feel like you'd be able to protect us, if it came to that?"
The Setian guard falls silent, expression a conflicted twist. Naturally, if something happened then he would protect his king-- it was as simple as that. Not that Fekik needed it (and Areix would be especially safe, as Fei would sooner see himself killed than allow anyone to lay a finger on his youngest), but...well, Varius wasn't quite sure. He couldn't exactly say that he had a bad feeling.
After a few moments, he finally shook his head and relented. If they were going, then he would simply resolve to keep a close eye on everything and everyone!

Tumblr media
"If you're bringing Harailt, then I'll be inviting Iki. No offense, but I'm really not looking to third-wheel you the whole party."
The young prince was seated comfortably on a couch, feet kicked up on the arm of it as he regarded his older brother; the king. Alkaid was telling him about some party they'd be attending in Brecaea...honestly, he hadn't really been paying attention to all the details. It had been a while since he'd been able to bring Iki to anything like this, so most of the time that his brother had been talking, he'd been busy thinking up everything that he wanted to have prepared for her.
They were already friendly with Brecaea, so it's not like there had to be a lot of planning toward how to socialize and gain favor with them. He could look into the specifics of the gathering a little later.
Tumblr media
"You don't have to say it like that; you would have invited her regardless of if Harailt came with us...just don't go too crazy on whatever you're plotting. You'll end up making yourself freak out if it can't all get done in time."

ask game; Victoria Dallon, aka Glory Girl aka Antares
I've always thought that Victoria's first appearance is quite the bit of deft needle-threading.
The thing about Interlude 2 is that Vicky is our first example of one of this setting's established heroes actively fighting crime- not just swooping in to vulture up the accomplishments of an up-and-comer- and a therefore a major goal of the sequence is to ensure that the audience comes away structurally unnerved by what counts as business as usual for the heroes, set the stage for the hurricane of ass-covering to come. So we have a sequence where she lords her power over a baseline criminal who has no realistic chance to fight back or get away, where she cripples and nearly kills him in a display of excessive force, where she uses her connections to other capes to duck out on the consequences of her excess once she realizes that she's crossed certain moral and optical Rubicons. All of this is gross, all of this speaks to an alarmingly cavalier attitude amongst even the most ostensibly accountable heroes. And from a protagonistic perspective, all of this serves to soften the blow of Taylor's actions at the bank in act three, because we're predisposed to see Vicky as an arrogant, overprivileged loose cannon who'd actually have a significantly higher body count than all of the Undersiders put together if not for the cushion afforded to her by her status as a superhero. A golden child up against the already put-upon underdog.
But. She also does all of that to a Neo-Nazi, who was fresh off committing a hate crime. I mean, if this was violence against a purse-snatcher, a drug-dealer- It would be very, very easy to block this sequence in a way that would set her up as a villain and nothing else for the rest of the work. In The Boys, for example, Homelander debuts by incinerating one bank robber's hand and throwing another a thousand feet into the air to land hard on a parked car, and the dissonance between that casual brutality and his chumminess with the onlookers is the thematic backbone for... basically the entire show, because he was in such total control of the situation that the only reason to do it that way is that he fundamentally doesn't care. In Super Crooks, it's made abundantly clear that the superheroes trying to arrest the titular supervillains are significantly more destructive to the city than the villains are, because their institutional backing removes any incentive to do anything but pursue the flashiest arrests possible for the sake of ratings. But Glory Girl? She's a sixteen year old putting her money where her mouth is on the unconsidered-dilettante suburban-left-ish tumblrite rallying cry of punching a Nazi. She's living out a near-boilerplate superheroic fantasy of righteous violence against an uncomplicatedly righteous target- likely a fantasy entertained at least once by the median cape fan, if we're being honest- and then, in the aftermath, blood on her hands and on the pavement, staring down the full weight of the prospect of actually having killed a person in an unconsidered spate of rage, is very much a panicked teenager about it, scrambling for a way to walk it back.
Which, independent of the specifics of whether this particular asshole had it coming, is the problematic element of this that generalizes- that superheroism in this world is a system that puts the social license to use concrete-shattering power in the hands of a kid with the judgement and attitude of someone scheming up ways to dodge curfew. She's done this before, she's gonna keep doing this, she's gonna keep being two-faced about it with her public-facing golden-girl image. But she wasn't wrong to be angry. And the fact that this is the kind of thing she gets angry about is hard to separate from later beats where she tries to do right by people, hard to separate from her willingness to put herself on the line against Endbringers and the Slaughterhouse 9. It's a bad situation, a horrible system that's guaranteed to incentivize bad behavior, they shouldn't be assigning any of this shit to a 17-year-old. But later on, when things go south for her, the seeds are planted so that she can retain audience sympathy in a way that she likely wouldn't be able to if this story was a banal hatswap, with unfairly maligned "villains" who do no real wrong against supervillains who happen to call themselves superheroes.

A breakdown of apps you can use to communicate with your alters as separate people and write down information about them online and offline with their pros, cons, and a personal rating because I really needed it when I was new to being a system:
Note: by "PC" I mean any computer/macbook/etc. By "all devices" I mean PC, mobile, tablet, iPad, etc.
I apologize for mistakes in advance.
1. Antar: An app created to chat with your "inner self," found in both Play Store and AppStore. One of the more popular ones among systems. It is an app where you get to create personas that would be chatting with each other in chats called "sessions." Those sessions can either be given a name or just left named after the date they were created on. Each persona is given a color that would become the color of their messages in sessions. Offline app.
Pros: Fiarly easy to use, no in-depth information needed to access it fully. Biometric lock; 4 languages (English, Chinese, Hindi, Spanish) for the system, however any language can be used via text; no limit to the amount of personas added (as far as I'm aware). Messages sent by the wrong persona can be changed; the "quote" feature allows you to start a thread under a message; provides descriptions of each persona. You can also give your personas an avatar rather than just a color. Has a "replay" and "visualization" feature, though I'd say it's strictly just for funzies.
Cons: Not available on PC; has no backup, phone-related resets or deletion of the app results in all information lost. Session order constantly changes depending on which senssion you entered, which in my opinion (+OCD) is a nuisance; you can't delete the "me" character which I've been wanting to do for a while. Can't add hexcodes.
Personal rating: 6/10. If you need an app that you can lock from unwanted visitors, if you don't mind and even prefer something simple, and if you don't care that the conversations might disappear, this app is a good choice.
2. Discord's PluralKit: A more avdanced discord bot with tons of settings and commands that was created specifically for systems. Allows you to add almost any information about your system memebers, even such things as birthdays. The way it works is, it "proxies" your messages with a certain command somewhere in the "normal" message, sends a message identical to yours from a bot created with the name you chose, and deletes your original message. Basically replaces a message from your account with a message from a bot you created earlier. Proxies are small commands that give the both a green light to do that, and they can be whatever you want them to be. Online bot.
Pros: Feels like different people are talking; allows you to track your switches; available on all devices; one system can be linked to multiple accounts, although you can't create multiple systems under one account; allows you to group alters together; allows you to restrict access to certain information from all users; allows you to add as many alters as you want; has a number of ways you can access the information you put in which would all be sorted and organized for you; autoproxy allows you to not proxy every message you sent; since you can't delete messages of other people on servers that are not yours, and the bot messages are not, in fact, yours, PluralKit allows you to react to the message with an emoji that deletes the proxied message; while you can't use it in DMs, you can set up commands in DMs with the bot; every memeber has a unique code, and so does the system itself, and it records when the member was created; can be exported to SimplyPlural.
Cons: Commands are difficult and complex, and so is the dashboard; can only be used on servers; sometimes offline as all bots are, though rarely; you can't use it anywhere outside discord (a con for those who don't use discord); I had instances where I saw people use it for roleplay which is also allowed; proxies are a pain; you'd need a guide to tell you why certain things are needed in it; you cannot reply to messages with gifs when using a proxy; when being exported to SimplyPlural it exports everything, so if you had 10 members on SimplyPlural and 15 on PluralKit, it's best to add those 5 manually than delete 10 new exported alters (I did it with 100+ alters by accident and it was a pain).
Personal rating: 9/10. Complex, difficult to figure out, but once you get ahold of it and how it works, you'd be amazed. Also a pain that you can't use it in DMs, but it's to be expected from a bot. And you can always create a server with just you.
3. Discord's Tupperbox: A discord bot created mainly for roleplay, but actively used by systems who cannot get along with PluralKit. A simpler bot, easy to use and figure out, most things can be done via dashboard, doesn't have the opportunity to add a lot of inofrmation. Online bot.
Pros: Simple; allows grouping alters; allows different tags for different members and groups, sometimes individually; way simpler commands, and most things can be added via dashboard; looks and works almost the same as PluralKit when in a conversation; available on all devices.
Cons: Can't add avatars via dashboard, only using the commands; can't add two alters with the same name (which you can do with PluralKit); people reported it glitching out and deleting members; mainly used for roleplay; gives a weird list of members via commands that is unusable in my experience; doesn't work out of discord.
Personal rating: 7/10. Perfect for people who just want to talk and not write down information about them with the bot, but the threat of members being deleted, especially as a larger system, is concerning. We mainly use it for OSDD-1a subsystems. It was also not created for systems, as far as I'm aware. I see more cons than pros.
4. Simply Plural: Another more well-known tool used and created for systems. Simply Plural is an app that allows you to create profiles of your members and add any information you'd like about them via custom fields. It has a chat feature, allows you to track your front and switch history, add friends, and many more. Supports endogenic systems (which is being mentioned not for discorse purposes but as a fact. Whether you find it good or not is up to you) and allows singlets to create profiles as well, although I don't know a lot about that part. Both offline and online app.
Pros (and a bit about the app): Backup included; tracks your switches and front, allows you to change exact time for them, too (24-hour clock down to minutes included); the polls feature works like polls on same Tumblr and everywhere else but specifically for your system memebrs; analytics provide information about who fronts the most, during what time of day they usually front; you and your friends can see each other's profiles, which is why singlets can also create profiles, which allows you to acces info about each other's systems; "trusted people" feature allows you to pick whether you want everybody to see your alters or not, or if you want outsiders to see your profile at all; provides resources and guides to plurality (which I personally haven't checked, but still putting it in the pros, if somebody thinks I shouldn't, let me know); has an app reminders feature; you can add as much information as you want; front history shows up in a person's profile; alters can add notes; alter groups are available; available on all devices, however, only as a website on PC; colors of your alters can be used in the chat to highlight names; hexcodes are available; "custom front" is a status you set with fronting which can be hilarious sometimes; connects to PluralKit in a number of ways.
Cons: The chat feature is a bit difficult to use, and first time I did, I freaked out because I couldn't get out of it (the trick is to go to "channels" and press "navigation", there you'll see the dashboard); friends can't communicate with each other; copy-pasting is hard on both mobile and PC; something about the interface and navigation irks me and our visually impaired self; notes have same visibility as the profile itself, which is inconvenient if you want your profile to be seen but not your notes; avatars can't be added via website.
Personal rating: 6/10. I don't like how it looks and works (probably due to being visually impaired and other issues), but if you manage to get the information in it, it's pretty accessible and thoughtful of what systems might need. Could be used as a tool to start working with your system rather than do it long-term.
5. Twinote: An app that is your "personal Twitter." Pretty sure it was created for the purpose of having fun rather communicating with alters. Offline app.
Pros: Backup provided; allows "private accounts" that other "users" can't see; can create as many users as you want, as many posts as you want; can upload up to 4 images; works almost like Twitter; has a chat feature; comments, retweets, likes are present; "lists" feature allows you to group users and see only their messages which could be used for "things only protectors sent" and such; storage shows all pictures used in the app, so you won't lose anything; tagging and following people is still an option, and following private accounts give that user an opportunity to be the only one seeing their tweets.
Cons: Can't upload videos; can't do much with anything other than posts and profiles, so trends and other stuff there is off-limits (as far as I know); you have to constantly switch between profiles for the chat feature; share button only shares the contents of the message; very easy to accidentally press the wrong button and delete a tweet by dragging it left (which I almost did a few times).
Personal rating: 7,5/10. I know it's probably annoying that I didn't just type either 7 or 8, but the reaosn why is cause I have mixed feelings about it from a practical point of view. We use it strictly to communicate what we did during the day as a small journal and just joke with each other, and it's incredibly funny in itself, but it doesn't allow you to write down a lot of information about your alters and has a character limit in profiles. So it's strictly for communication.
6. Notion: An app created as a dashboard for literally everything you could ever dream of. You can personalize it however you want and use it for whatever you want. Those who saw the post we made a while ago probably know the reason I'm mentioning it is due to a template that I linked here. Online app.
Pros: Can be used for literally everything without limits; available on all devices; big and has enough storage for a lot of information, text, projects, etc; can be designed however you want; a lot of useful templates for all life instances (even taxes); can be shared with people who also use Notion in a variety of ways (either only comment, only see, etc); can add your own custom covers and icons via both gallery and links; looks neat and doesn't mess with visual impairment for us; can add a page in a page in a page which can be used for diaries; links to different pages on other pages are also available; endless possibilities, I could rant all day.
Cons: Glitches on the phone a lot; certain things are allowed on computer and not on mobile and vice versa; all templates available only on PC; you need to have an account in order to use it; glitches if it's offline; sometimes deletes a bunch of text because of glitches, usually the triggers for it are writing a lot in it directly or erasing previous text a bunch of times; can't invite someone in your space, it would take too much storage; some storage needs to be bought, although, I don't know the limit (but there's a lot. Like, a lot)
Personal rating: 9/10. With all its antics, I love this app dearly, it's incredibly useful, and you learn to deal with the cons. It's the best one I've used for communication and information storage so far.
7. Texting Stories app: As ridiculous as it sounds, it could be used as a tool to communicate with your alters, especially in secret. We are fighting for our safety here, so I ask you to take this suggestion seriously. Could be used when you don't want to let anyone know you're a system and have noisy family members/relatives/etc who like to snoop through you personal devices, by using it, you can say you've just been doing a story. Offline app.
Pros: I believe you can add as many people as you want; can add avatars; different stories can be different days of the week; easy to use; easy to brush off as "just making stories."
Cons: Can't change colors, you need to pay for most things.
Personal rating: 5/10. Can be used for emergencies and communication only, although we haven't used it much.
8. Notes: Just the same plain old notes app on your phone that everybody has installed as default. Offline app.
Pros: Easy to use; can be easily lost within your other notes for privacy; used for literally everything you desire, even drawing; automatic backup.
Cons: Doesn't give you the ability to really present as separate people; doesn't have as many options as Notion.
Personal rating: 5/10. used it at some point just for communication, was cool, somple, easy, but nothing too big.
I hope this helped to put these apps in perspective. I do apologize for it being a bit all over the place, but I did attempt to make it coherent enough (I am currently in a psychotic state, it's difficult for me to communicate). And remember, there are always options to use a written journal rather than a digital one. If anything, it's better to keep both in case one gets lost. Who knows, maybe our parents asking us what we would do if the internet disappeared is actually a warning. /j /nm

Saint Seiya: Dark Wing Chapter 31: The Surplice's Memories
Page 1
Eulalia: - Scarlet Needle Antares Kick!!
Page 2
Page 3
Minos: - Ghwah!!
Page 4
Minos: - (What…?) - (My consciousness…) - (…as Minos, the Celestial Noble Star Gryphon…) - (My soul is becoming unstable…?!)
Page 5
Page 6
Minos: - (At this rate,) - (it won't be just my cosmo that will disappear. My soul will too…!) - Damn you… damn you!!
Page 7
Minos: - (No!) - (I refuse to accept it!)
Eulalia: - (Is that…) - (…the Gryphon Surplice?)
Page 8
Eulalia: - What an ominous cosmo…!
Minos: - My cosmo as a specter… I can still fight, - even if all I have left is my soul! - Yes, I have the perfect solution… - I captured Pandora and Necromancer before coming here.
Page 9
Minos: - I will be fine if I take their cosmo!
Pages 10 + 11
Eulalia: - No, wait!!
Minos: - Hahahah! Yes! - Those two are indeed ready, - just waiting for me, aren't they?
Page 12
Minos: - (Oh, Lady Pandora!) - (And you, Necromancer!)
Page 13
Minos: - (Give me your cosmo!!)
Yoruhime: - Celestial Noble Star Gryphon, - so you were shamefully defeated by the Scorpio Gold Saint, weren't you?
Page 14
Minos: - Defeated?! - If I will take your cosmo and go back to that vessel, this time I won't!
Yoruhime: - This time…?
Page 15
Minos: - Whaaa?!
Charlotte: - (Sigh…) - As warriors of the gods, - our strong beliefs and loyalty afford us great cosmo.
Page 16
Charlotte: - You were defeated by a Saint, - reduced to a mere soul, - and fled so shamelessly that you possessed that surplice. - Is that really what one of the Three Judges, close aids to Lord Hades, is supposed to look like?
Minos: - Damn you… - You lowly Necromancer - dare to address me, your superior, in such a manner?!
Charlotte: - Mort Resurrection!!
Page 17
Page 18
Minos: - What?! You were able to clear my cosmo threads - with a cosmo like yours?!
Charlotte: - You are currently nothing more than an ancient soul possessing a surplice... - You are like a vengeful spirit who possesses nothing - of the noble will of the Gryphon or any loyalty to Lord Hades!
Page 19
Charlotte: - You are not my enemy!!
Minos: - Grrr!!
Yoruhime: - You miserable soul, - risen in a twisted resurrection by an abhorrent power!
Page 20
Yoruhime: - By my hand, - may you rest in peace - once more.
Page 21
Minos: - This cosmo… - Is it soothing me and showing me compassion?…
Page 22
Yoruhime: - You will eventually be awakened again by a strong will. - Until then, - slumber peacefully among dreams of the night.
Minos: - (This cosmo feels like) - (a quiet and gentle night…)
Page 23
Minos: - (Forgive me… Lady Pandora.) - (I will go back to sleep now.)
Page 24
Charlotte: - In the end, he had a gentle cosmo, didn't he?
Yoruhime: - It appears that this surplice was used - to summon the most violent and cruel memories of the Celestial Noble Star Gryphon.
Charlotte: - The surplice… - …has memories?
Page 25
Yoruhime: - Perhaps surplices and cloths alike - harbor the memories and souls of those who wear them? - Maybe… - they can even transcend space-time or dimensions.
Charlotte: - Yeah… - maybe.
Yoruhime: - But it's still too early to relax, - Charlie.
Page 26
Yoruhime: - The cosmo barrier around the school is getting stronger.
Charlotte: - Huh?! - Then that means... - ...the Gryphon wasn't behind these incidents after all…
Yoruhime: - *nod*
?: - Well done, well done!
Page 27
Seirim: - Pandora, I didn't expect you to have - a cosmo technique like that!
Yoruhime: - So you're the one who used the Gryphon's surplice - to cause these incidents?
Seirim: - Yup! - (That was me!)
Page 28
Seirim: - I am a Clown of Lord Demiurgos, - one of the Four Horsemen, the "King of Diamonds", Seirim. - I am the one who was entrusted with conducting this "story", - the "Witch".
Page 29
Yoruhime: - (She called herself a Clown of Demiurgos…) - (They're completely unknown to specters and saints alike.) - (They're a formidable enemy…!)
Charlotte: - If I defeat you, - this barrier will be lifted, right?
Page 30
Seirim: - Ohh! - Despite appearances, you're unexpectedly aggressive, huh? - *giggle giggle* - Ok, sure! - I'll let you fight me, - little Charlotte!
Page 31
Yoruhime: - (Charlie hasn't been awake for very long,) - (and her cosmo was also considerably depleted breaking free of Gryphon's threads…) - (Shoichiro and the others aren't responding either.) - (Something must have happened to them.)
Page 32
Yoruhime: - (Harpy was supposed to lead the battle but she's out too.)
Zhu: - Yaaah!! - Jeez! - It's still standing?!
Yoruhime: - (And Sphinx) - (is also being kept out by the barrier.) - (The female Gold Saint was fighting against Gryphon…)
Page 33
Yoruhime: - (As for the other Gold Saint,) - (we should assume that he was also dealt with somehow.) - (And this was all…) - (…this Witch's doing!)
Page 34
Seirim: - *giggle giggle*
To be continued…

♡ ok but I'm actually genuinely curious as to what Andrei himself would think of how his situation would change in this situation KSHDKDB
Tumblr media
from this picrew!
a new child in jugdral-verse? yup, but hold tight, this au is my wildest one yet. there's another child too, but i'll talk about the other kid when it comes up
cw for rape
unlike the other jugdral asks where i just went crazy on my own, a few sensitive details were discussed a little with erica bc of the topic at hand. so deirdre and andrei have a precanon thread currently going on, where the two of them meet and have a meal and it's their first time hanging out just the two of them. in it, deirdre thanks andrei for, and i quote, 'dealing with one of the men who killed [her] father'. that's ring! andrei freaks out internally, of course, though he is able to salvage the situation to an extent
now, what if that meeting went well enough (in deirdre's mind) that they had more meetings? andrei is on one hand extremely uncomfortable with her, but on the other hand, this is exactly what he wants!! think about what it does for yngvi's reputation if the duke has a direct and personal friendship with the princess and future queen of grannvale!!! this is excellent and great and he cannot possibly refuse this. so he agrees to every single meeting, and talks to her, and they form some sort of friendship thing. at this point andrei's mental health is a mere thread away from utterly insane by the way. surely this will end well, right?
(oh yeah, at this point, andrei does already marry antares and have scipio. scipio is not involved in this mess and is the exact same as he is in canon)
it all comes to a head at one meeting, where deirdre confesses to him that she is ready to have children with lord arvis. she thinks she's ready, finally, thanks to the support and friendship of those around her, including andrei! she mentions something about ring again, and andrei snaps. i've mentioned it before, but andrei resents arvis for (as far as he knows) heading the conspiracy plot, because without it none of this would've had to happen. and so, upon hearing that arvis is about to get what he wants with the woman he loves, andrei forces himself upon deirdre
he comes to his senses after the deed is done, and apologizes profusely, begging her for his life essentially. he says that he will die if word of this ever gets out, and deirdre agrees to keep it a secret. and she does! until. she gets pregnant. i won't go into detail about when/whether she and arvis would've consummated their marriage at this point, but as erica points out, deirdre is not good at hiding her emotions and will eventually tell arvis about it as soon as he asks, so even if being pregnant was potentially expected, the secret would've gotten out at some point during the pregnancy
for his crimes, andrei is publicly executed and yngvi falls into disgrace. antares, already not a noble (this is purely my hc but andrei married a non-noble claiming to have minor ullr blood to have scipio), gets kicked out of yngvi along with scipio, and they go live their non-noble lives somewhere else
anyway, deirdre is pregnant! with twins! manfroy is kinda frustrated, bc he wanted her to have kids with arvis, dammit. but she's of course gonna keep the babies, so they are born. julia is still julia, just with major naga and minor ullr instead of fjalar blood. but her older brother, get this—
name: julio
gender: male (he/him)
class: prince > master knight minus bows and sword
minor ullr, minor loptous
tiptoes around his 'father', whom he's aware isn't really his father. has developed some chronic people-pleaser tendencies because on some level, he feels like his and his sister's existence broke something in this household and that he's not meant to exist. good at charming the staff! very polite for a noble scion
protective of his sister, mostly because of the above reason. the twins grow up really close! julia is the only one that julio feels he can show his true feelings around
they stay in the velthomer household as part of the family upon deirdre's insistence, which isn't terrible because they get a loving mother growing up, but also isn't great because they have to interact with arvis. arvis isn't abusive or anything, but everything about these kids brings back his trauma re: victor so his mental health is just not great in general. they try to avoid each other wherever possible
he's set up to become the duke of yngvi, or whatever that territory is gonna be called if that whole house ends up being dissolved. he works really hard in his youth, but doesn't pick up the bow because he can sense that his 'father' is really really not ok with that. forgoes the sword too, while he's at it, because his 'father' doesn't seem too pleased with that either. he knows how to fence and stuff, but not horseback sword usage. he learns magic though, magic is a-ok in this household
deirdre isn't blamed for this incident, because andrei was the one who initiated the whole thing, and the twins are... yeah, they're bastards, but they're the blood of the legitimate royal family, so it's not like they can be killed or anything. anyway, at this point, sigurd gets to belhalla and arvis cooks him twice as hard as in canon because at this point he's pissed off at anyone who's ever had kids with deirdre, but it's not like anyone can tell because no one knows how hard he cooked sigurd in canon so they just think wow his meteor spell is that strong
manfroy urges them to try again, and tbh azmur wants fully legitimate grandkids too, so according to erica, they do! because deirdre loves arvis and everything. but you know, holy blood weirdness and all that, their kid (let's call him julius) is born with fjalar blood and naga blood but not loptous blood. manfroy, extremely frustrated now, tells them to try AGAIN, and this time, uh, deirdre dies in childbirth and the child doesn't survive. listen, this is kid #5 ok i don't think health care was that good at that time. as an extra screw u to manfroy, maybe this kid would've had major loptous had they survived. but they didn't
manfroy's plans fail! julio becomes the new duke of yngvi and arvis just tries to avoid looking at him. julia is married off to one of the neighboring countries (i had to google what happened to illegitimate children of nobility/royalty and the answers were... this basically). julius becomes duke of velthomer and the heir to the throne. seliph can come in and fix some things about this, but loptous isn't one of his problems for once. everyone is either happy or dead! if julio ends up fighting febail, he will die to febail and his cousin will become the new duke of yngvi, but he doesn't have special dialogue with any of them because who tf are these people. the end.
bonus: thank u to erica for suggesting this route btw

What would each Antares character play as in a tabletop RPG like Dungeons and Dragons? What races, classes and builds? Why? What does it say about them as a character?
now this IS a fun one. I'm gonna go with standard D&D because I know it well enough, though there is actually an in-universe dungeon-crawler tabletop RPG called Grimmlings & Grottos. But anyway! Let's do some breakdowns. Let's just set it tentatively at the beginning of the story, because what the characters might play at the end would be very different. But lets just stick with early days for now. I'm also gonna stick to the people, so far, who might currently have played in Ruby's hypothetical D&D game, so thats mostly her family and friend group. Beacon Era, even. Or else this would be VERY long.
First of all: Ruby is the DM. No question. She wants to tell stories, make homebrew stuff, and gets to play all of the monsters and NPCs. done deal. If she had to be a player at all she'd probably want to be something she can do a lot of fun roleplaying in, and also probably be really rules-lawyering and try to swing it all in her favour. Which makes me think that her go to is a Stout Halfling Dhampir (its a lineage that goes on top of a base race) as an Arcane Trickster Rogue or something ("yeah DM sneak attack is once per turn"). But yeah Ruby is the DM. As for why? She likes storytelling, and she likes having a measure of control over things around her, she's not ever been a 'go-with-the-flow' person, she thinks and plans and even as leader her worries were 'what if things get out of control and I can't handle that' rather than 'i'm too young for this'. And, well, Ruby is all about fairytales and grand adventures, what suits her better than making that grand adventure?
Which is to say: when the players go off script she gets grumpy about it. She'll roll with it but she'll complain. "Yang I gave you eight seperate story threads and you picked PIRACY? that wasn't one of them do you know how many crew member NPCs I have to roll up now?"
I like to think that canonically the Xiao Long-Rose-Branwen household has played at least one session with Ruby DMing and Yang instantly picked the highest damage output possible and built an Orc Barbarian (Path of the Beast). Backstory? What's that? "Her name's Ember and she's killed twenty people, lets go kill monsters'. I think this should be quite self-explanatory to Yang's beginning characterisation. She wants to skip ahead to the cool fight scenes where she can describe how badass her character is.
Taiyang and Qrow (they're mostly here to support Ruby's interests and don't actually get what's going on but they have a great attitude and Ruby's patient with them) both individually saw 'Bard' and Taiyang saw 'well that looks fun, I can make up lil rhymes' and Qrow saw 'I can be a sex, drugs, rock-and-roll guy that's the epitome of cool' and drummed up a bard duo called where one is an aging punk rocker Tiefling based on all Qrow's fav emo bands as a twenty-year-old and Taiyang saw 'gold dragonborn' and blacked out. They both picked College of Eloquence because it looked easiest. Not much to say about why beyond 'parental support and really trying to understand their kid's interests' which is why Tai is the best parent in Antares and why Qrow- well, sometimes he hits the mark.
Weiss has no fuckin clue what any of this is aside from 'nerd stuff for plebians that I suppose I must join for team building'. Basic first options on the list, human fighter, basic stats, doesn't really get into it for a couple of sessions but once she twigs that the dice is like a numbers game it really catches her interest and she starts looking into it more. She snags Eldritch Knight as her path for access to spells and ends up having a good time. Its a microcosm of Weiss's 'defrosting ice queen' plotline. Once she gets into to she gets into it.
Blake actually read the players handbook for more than half a second and decided she wanted to be creative and have a bit of fun while also quickly making the connection that the party was very tanky, so she decided to create a Water Genasi Sorcerer with the path of Lunar Sorcery, since she thought the options it had were fun and she absolutely did extra reading to decide. Mostly this ties into Blake's early character of, though not looking like it, actually genuinely really wanting to get along with her friends while also rediscovering her interests. She also decides to play an optimist, just to try and have that bit of escapism she so desperately wants. Oh- play as a Tabaxi? No, why do you ask?
Onto JNPR, Jaune has the distinction of Acutally Having Knowledge of This, he strikes me as a 'oh I love D&D podcasts I've always wanted to play it'. His dicerolls are, obviously, fucking horrendous at all times, but he ends up playing as a dwarf paladin, I think, good ol Oath of Devotion. He just wants to do a bit of wish fulfilment as a hero, but he doesn't really push it to the point of being a pure 'must follow all the rules' type of paladin roleplay. He just wants to enjoy having friends and mostly tries to keep things chill at the table.
Pyrrha has no idea what she's doing either but she's trying really hard even though she can't wrap her head around any of it. She picked a Cleric because it seemed nice, she could be the party healer. Life domain, Ruby threw her a softball and said 'that's the healing one' and Pyrrha went 'yep'. She just wants to be a normal girl who plays games with a friend group and also be useful in a way that will keep them from ditching her. Gotta please everyone, and healing- it's nice. Useful. They'll invite her more to play.
Nora wants to be a barbarian too, specifically a Goliath with path of Wild Magic for the chaos because she wants to try derail the campaign like she heard about, but Ruby plays favourites with her sister and tells her to pick a new one so Nora goes sulking through the book again for something else, sees the words 'blood' and 'hunter' next to each other, and goes feral. Order of the Lycan is an instant follow-up. Race? Oh- yeah, still a Goliath. Nora just wants to fuck shit up and be with her friends, there's no underlying deeper character issues. Possibly height envy, maybe.
Ren, similarly to Blake, reads the handbook cover to cover, does his own research, and gets super into the idea of Roleplaying as well. However, he goes full 'how dark can I get away with' and creates a warlock, specifically with a Great Old One as patron. A haunted man, troubled by shadows and loss of the past long before being cursed with a treacherous deal that leads to the nightmares and madness of the present, desperately struggling to hold onto sanity as their patron eats a piece of their mind with every spell he casts. Yanno, standard Lovecraftian horror. Ren's really trying to be dramatic and hoping for a tragic end, where his character is twisted into the secret main villain, and Ruby thinks that would be really cool and is pushing for it if only the rest of the campaign wasn't trying to power of friendship this. Ren's just trying to lowkey work through some stuff, it's fine. It's totally fine. Oh- and he picked Pact of the Tome, he wants more cantrips.
Sun got invited along and was like 'gnome ranger lets fuckin go'. Epitome of 'holy shit I can have a pet dinosaur this game RULES' as a player. Mostly coasting on dice luck but can pull out one HELL of a bit of roleplay when he wants to. It's beautiful. He really wishes this campaign could go on forever, it's easier when the bad guys are just figurines on a table.
Penny is ready and waiting to play but she never gets the chance to join a session. Her schedule just doesn't line up, unfortunately. And she hasn't decided her class- she'll see what everyone else needs for an effective party balance first and then she'll pick one. So she doesn't get to pick a subclass. But she'd really like to give it a try if she could! She'd play a standard human character. No there's no other meaning in her wanting to be a human character when she could be something way more interesting, not at all.
Ruby offered to Sun to bring Emerald along for a session but Emerald said no. F in the chat for Emerald (one day).

Currently writting a fanfic and I needed some help sorry but, have there been important scenes cut from the LN that are important? I couldnt find as much from the wiki but people still say that there was a lot of info cut out? is it true or would it only be fine to just read the manwha without missing important bits?
Well, it’s been a while since I read the novel and manhwa, but I do remember noticing some differences. Like, I read the manhwa first, back when just the first season was out, and then I started reading the novel from the beginning.
Honestly, if I had started reading the novel first, I probably wouldn’t have kept reading it, because the actual writing is kind of so-so. But I was invested and I wanted to know what was up with the system and how the story would end.
The first season of the manhwa was really good, I think. It had a good pace and even added a few things. But the second half felt pretty rushed. (And I’m still salty about how the manhwa revealed Antares’s name. It was way less meaningful.)
I think you can still write a good fanfic just by reading the manhwa, but you’ll get more detail about things by reading the novel. The manhwa can’t go into as much detail due to it being a more visual medium. Whereas with a novel, you can see more detail into what a character is thinking.
Personally, I think if you don’t mind reading novels and you have the time, then I would recommend reading the novel. It’s just nice to have more insight into the characters and get to see...more of the story, I guess? Like I said, the second season of the manhwa felt rushed and sometimes I felt kind of confused by what exactly was happening, especially in the fight scenes. It’s easier to understand in the novel.
You could also go to the solo leveling subreddit and find the threads for individual chapters. Sometimes, someone will mention the differences between the novel and the manhwa in the comments.
Off the top of my head, there’s a few things that come to mind.
In the beginning, I don’t think the manhwa mentions that Jin-Woo was getting like, these little rewards for completing his daily tasks? They were things that would be useful for him that day. He got a pen while he was in the hospital, because he would need to sign the forms to check out of the hospital. And he got an umbrella because it was going to rain later, which I think he gave to Jin-Ah before she headed out of the house.
The manhwa did a couple of extra things that I liked, though. Like, in the novel, Hwang Dong-Soo didn’t come to Korea, only to be thwarted by Jin-Woo being in a red gate. But we got that cool scene where Hwang and Baek Yoon-Ho almost came to blows, Jin-Chul stepping in and almost getting his arms broken if only the two didn’t hold back their strength in time.
And the scene with the Japanese Hunters in the gym. I don’t think we originally had that scene where they sparred with the Korean Hunters. Also, I saw someone say that not all the Japanese Hunters were named in the novel?? I wasn’t paying enough attention when I read through it to know, but that’s interesting if it’s true.
Really, it seems like both the novel and the manhwa have their ups and downs. If you want a more complete picture, it’s best to read both of them. You get a bit more detail with the novel. You get some different details with the manhwa plus really good art.
And in the novel, Antares giving his name to Jin-Woo was actually a significant moment. Unlike in the manhwa, where he just announced his name like it was whatever. Still not over that.
Right, I think I’m just rambling at this point. Really, it’s up to you whether you want to read the novel. I think you can write a good fanfic by just reading the manhwa, but you’ll have a more complete picture of what’s going on in canon if you read the novel too.

Initiating new thread to split off from Trix's post.
Can affirm that such would not happen under neutral circumstances, and superiors would have punished the perpetrator if so.
Mission likely of high importance.

Even without the need for absolute secrecy when it came to their secondary hideout, it was still uncommon for Fivemind to have anyone over. So when Chirptune heard voices that did not belong to any of the squadron bots from inside the shoddy little space, she just had to stop by.
Inside the repurpose maintenance room of the unfinished subway tunnel were two teenagers and the yellow ranger of the mechanical squadron. Chirptune recognised the teens, of course. The two of them frequently helped the mechanical squadron out with setting up hero shows. Also one of them was Bayfloat's resident magical girl. Dreamy Cloud Yadanar wasn't in her poofy cloud-inspired get up though, she's in a comfy hoodie and denim shorts. Next to her sat her twin sister, Thandar.
Both girls and Yellow Three were hunched in front of a sticker-covered laptop. Chirptune landed on Yellow's shoulder.
"Whatcha looking at?"
"Some youtuber." Yadanar answered. "He thinks he's got you guys all figured out."
"He's been making some real good points though." Thandar moves the cursor to display the title of the video - [ THE MECHANICAL SQUADRON'S SECRET || WHY WE SHOULD BE WORRIED - PART 1 ]
"No he isn't," Yellow Three interjected. "You know we aren't aliens."
"I mean, aside from that."
The little bar at the bottom of the video indicated that they were 20 minutes into the video essay.
20 minutes out of 2 solid hours.
The guy behind the channel weave05 was a scrawny young man, probably some college student with too much time on his hands. He was talking very excitedly and very fast. Yadanar and Chirptune both mentally deduct 10 points for presentation. Behind the man was an honest-to-god pinboard with thread in multiple colours crisscrossing each other in an convulated web of coincidences mistaken for causation. He actually had some good photos up there though - shots of Yellow Three at his part-time job, blurs of Pink circled in red marker, Red One in action, and so on. Hell, he even has a pic of Antares who was somehow caught in that one bigfoot footage pose.
"Y'know you guys should sue him for defamation or something," Yadanar commented as the video essay started going off tangent into suicide cases around Basalt and Bayfloat. The guy on the screen was very convinced this particular suicide case was actually a murder.
Thandar scoffed, "With what lawyer?"
"I dunno, I'm just saying."
"Chirptune could be a lawyer!" The bird was already starting to get bored with the video. "Chirptune has played Ace Attorney."
"Ooooh, which one?" Yadanar was also starting to get bored with the video.
"Hey," Yellow Three spoke up. "How did he get that footage?"
The video seemed to have swung back on topic, now displaying footage of the mechanical squadron's red ranger inside a cave. Must have been taken a couple weeks ago when Red One took shelter from rain in one of the natural caves on the outskirts of Bayfloat.
"Probably with a drone," Thandar offered.
"Red One would have noticed," the yellow unit countered. "We are aware of most models currently in the market."
"Maybe it's a super new one?"
"Maybe." Yellow Three placed a hand on his chin - a learned gesture. "Not a flying drone."
"Huh? You can tell?"
"Camera moves too wrong for a flier." Fivemind was actually more focused on the visuals of the video than what the theorist was saying. This fucker had been spying on them. But to what extent? "It's terrestial."
"Uh huh..." Thandar on the other hand was actually listening to whatever the hell the theorist was cooking (someone get this man out of the kitchen). They were getting to the good parts.
The video was barely halfway through. The theorist got up on a stool to dettach the pinboard from the wall. He then replaced it with an even more convulated looking pinboard.
Yadanar and Chirptune had long disengaged from all this, they're just talking about videogames now. Thandar's eyes widened with interest. Yellow Three leaned in closer to the screen trying to scan every photo on that pinboard at once.
And now for the next 73 minutes of part 1 of a 9 part , and ongoing, series.

This is the start of a Reference thread for Starseeds. Information from LL threads will be collated here. (especially from IQ.)
To begin with, here is something from the Lyran Ring Nebula M57 thread:
There is a celestial object known as the Starseed Ring Nebula (aka M57 or Messier 57) in the constellation Lyra which has special significance for all Starseeds and Cosmic Wanderers. It is located at 20 degrees Capricorn between the Lyran fixed stars Sheliak and Sulaphat.
The reason why this beautiful nebula is so special is because it is the physical remnants of a super nova explosion of the Lyran homeland which, in galactic myth, was the original location of all humanoid races before it was destroyed by the Draco's, thus triggering the diaspora to new planets such as those civilizations located in the Pleiades, Andromeda, Casseopia, Sirius amongst many others.
Thus, strong contacts with the Ring Nebula literally points to the birthplace of humanoid star origins. This is the place from which many streams of consciousness, rays of extraterrestrial starseed races, began their evolutionary journey.
If you have a strong aspect with Sun, Moon, a personal planet, Sun/Moon midpoint, an Angle or a Node with the Lyran Ring Nebula M57 as well as strong aspects to one of the Royal Stars (Regulus, Alderbaran, Formalhaut, Antares) and the Great Attractor, I believe this is proof of a humanoid starseed identity.
For example : Sun conjunct/opposite M57 :Your essence and sense of personal power is strongly identified with your star origin.
Moon conjunct/opposite M57 : instinctual understanding/ subliminal memories of your extraterrestial origins.
South Node conjunct M57 : A highly evolved starseed/ cosmic wanderer who brings to this incarnation past life memories, knowledge and understanding of star origins which underpin current life purpose and direction.
North Node conjunct M57 : Aspiring towards an understanding of star origins being prominent in shaping life purpose/direction.
Prominent alignments with the Lyran Ring Nebula can also indicate involvement with the music of the spheres - the use of natural astronomically and resonant harmonics for healing, illumination, and for greater evolutionary purpose. You might find, for example that a person with South Node conjunct M57 brings to this incarnation a natural aptitude in this area, based on past life extra-terrestrial experience. Similarly, strong contacts are often found in the charts of musicians, artists and those involved with arts and sciences where the intention is to use harmonics of light, sound, and geometry for the expansion of consciousness. In addition, these individuals may be gifted in understanding the relationship between geometry and time--all working intelligently together. Forty octaves up from our middle musical scale lies the spectrum of visible color--light-sound musical harmonics originate from the mathematical unfoldment of time in geometric proportion. M57 inspires multi-spectral creative expression--a multiplicity of opportunity for fulfillment when individuality is creatively amalgamated into a greater expression than one could achieve alone. M57 also holds the memory pattern that unifies our diversity--reminding us that all rays of color and creed ultimately comprise and fulfill the unbounded expression of One Unified Creative Intelligence.
Use tight orbs - for Nodes, angles and luminaries - less than 1.5 or maybe 2 degrees; for other personal planets less than 1 degree.
Also important in the constellation Lyra are the fixed stars Sheliak at 18 Capricorn 53 and Sulaphat at 21 Capricorn 55. These are known as the points or horns of the Tortoise Lyre, which is the structure that carries the resonant strings of the harp which is the the Ring Nebula itself. Although important alignments with these points are not in themselves starseed indicators, they do carry their own Lyran symbolism. Sheliak embodies the wisdom of light/sound harmonics. Physically, this extremely fast rotating binary star radiates a remarkable and spectacular optical show of brilliantly changing color. Sulaphat on the other hand embodies geometric resonance in form and the ancient wisdom of the Turtle.
The other important star in Lyra is the alpha fixed star Vega at 15 Capricorn 19 - this points to where the re-unifying harmonic spectra of the Elohim (the shining ones) culminate--a new home for some upon completion of their galactic missions. Vega is stargate to Mansion Universes of Light--and represents the fulfillment and radiance of starseed missions completed. If strongly aspected along with other Royal Star contacts, this could indicate a lineline in which the influence of the Elohim is strong, along with aspirations to use this to complete the mission assigned to this incarnation. With a South Node contact to Vega, the individual may even be a fully ascended and conscious Elohim starseed master on an earth mission, assuming that there there are also strong alignments with the Great Attractor, Royal Stars and the M57.
A word on the Great Attractor - this is the most powerful point in the Universe, so powerful that it makes the Galactic Centre look miniscule. It is at 14 Sagittarius. While the Galactic Centre is the "sun of our sun", the central rotating point of the Milky Way ... the Great Attractor is a supercluster of 100,000 galaxies 250 million light years from our solar system. It is the grand central sun of a much larger group of galaxies- and it is a point that we are all being pulled towards (we are literally hurling in that direction at insane speeds). In astrology the great attractor represents the key to the mystery of the Universe. it's a very intense point that has mystical and metaphysical properties.
As such, the Great Attractor should feature strongly - preferably a tightly orbed conjunction or opposition with personal planets, angles, nodes or sun/moon midpoint in all Starseed charts where there is awakening as it points to divine harmony and the fulfulment of our spiritual destiny.

Diablo IV Screenshot Thread
This was supposed to be a compilation of Antares, my Diablo IV PC. Turns out I took approximately 17 million photos of Lilith and like 5 of Antares. Sigh.
A gorgeous game, though I really only played the main campaign and dipped before the endgame grind.
