Organized, in each category, with ones I'm enjoying most at the top. I didn't get many screen shots this week, so welcome to a WALL OF TEXT. Duh duh duh dum.

July 2024 Week 3

Ongoing Series - Thai

We Are Cute (Weds iQIYI) ep 16 fin - TanFang are ridiculous but I have grown to truly love them. ChainPun at the end made me hoot with laughter everyone was a meme of FINALLY. In fact, I loved all the pairs, this was a great ensemble piece.

I was left mildly wondering if Arm will ever lead a BL. 

All in all? 

I really enjoyed this show. It was slow to find its stride (I didn’t get into it until ep 7) but I’m very glad I gave it a chance. It’s a soft ensemble piece with multiple couples and very little plot, but I didn’t care because it’s not trying to be anything more substantial. Essentially this was a series of vignettes covering one year of uni for a queer friendship group finding love, new friends, and laughter. It’s not being harsh with us or it’s characters the way some offerings of this ilk have been (side eyes Friend Zone and Only Friends) nor did it tumble into Gen Y chaos. In fact, this reminded me more than anything of a refined and elevated Love Sick - just with older characters and occurring within a genre that has matured too. It has that close queer friendship group meets earnest gentleness that made me adore Love Sick so much. In other words, this was Thai BL at its finest, finding it roots again 10 years on, but also stretching upwards and showing us what it could do with that original seed. So? I loved it. Did it blow my mind? No. But it left me smiling and made me belly laugh quite a bit. 9/10

Technically it should probably get an 8/10 - too much singing, but I’m bubbling over with nostalgia rn.

Wandee Goodday (Sat YT) ep 12 fin - I struggled to watch that fight. But that’s because it was so well done for a BL. Lots of speeches this ep. (I said too cheesy right before Dee did.)

I like Drake & Title as a new ship. Hope it sails. Also some decent ace rep. 

On a totally different note: Good use of frosting. But… you know I’m gonna say it… NO SINGING. 

Final thoughts:

What a FUN show. A charming quintessentially modern Thai BL about a doctor and a boxer who start as a one night stand and then fall in love. Great rep for everything from Muay Thai, to safe sex, to FUN sex, to ace, to bisexuality, to smiley kisses, to the first legal gay wedding in a Thai BL. It’s a delight and I enjoyed (almost) every single moment of it. 

An easy 9/10. 

I do hope we get more GreatInn.

The Rebound (Weds Gaga) eps 7-8 of 12 - So Ryu’s ma is evil? And Frank is giving me serious second lead syndrome. Also he’s been working out a lot. I noticed my dude, thank you. I don't think we've ever gotten this kind of focus on a side dish before. The show is in dangerous territory, since he's so good he's taking attention away from the leads. Also, I think Zen is completely aware of what is going on with this love triangle, he just doesn’t want to put up with their nonsense. I even like the cute side crumbs. 

On a complete aside: why are crime lords in BL always in bathtubs? Asking for… the other genres. Wouldn’t it be hilarious if The Godfather entirely took place in bathtubs? A Real Man has a large… tub. 

And we end with mass murder? WOW! Chaotically played my dearest pulp! 

Century of Love (Weds Gaga) eps 3-4 of 10 - These boys are playing complicated roles with lots of layers to them. Daou is doing a great job. We can see the old man inside this kid. Offroad... I’m not convinced, he’s chewing the scenery a bit. I actually think he has the more layered and complicated part to play. So I'm giving him a chance to subtly show that cheerful façade fracturing with delicacy. But I worry we may be back in JamFilm territory where one partner can’t quite keep up with the other's skillz.

All of this is to say, this is still a better acted piece than I was expecting. (Although the surrounding cast and special effects are doing our leads no particular favors.)

It’s hugely enjoyable but uneven (with those occasional injections of slapstick humor) I’m not entirely sure the production knows what it wants to be. I wish it had the courage of its convictions to lean into the “I feel you linger in the air” aesthetic. Now that I know Thailand can go there, I’m a bit annoyed when a show like this, which should, doesn’t. Which is not to say I’m not enjoying it. I am. A lot. Just that I should probably lower my expectations. Daou, however, is so damn good, he keeps getting my hopes up.

This Love Doesn't Have Long Beans (Fri iQIYI) ep 3 of 8 - Oh no we have a lonely poor little rich boy. Catnip character for @heretherebedork. Meanwhile, I’m liking the layers of the main romance, with everybody having hidden agendas and such. Nice tension. Of course I love the eroticism around smells. One of my favorite tropes. But I’m not sure I buy the relationship chemistry between the leads when this much lying is going on. 

My Love Mix-Up Th (Fri YT) ep 7 of 12 - I am growing to love Fourth's version of this character. He’s so frantic and confused, but in a completely different way from the JBL. It’s a bit more whiny and a bit less cartoonish. But it resonates with me more. He's less of a meme tho. The photo moment! I literally squealed, "Gah!!! They are so cute!"

Linguistic moment. Did you hear in the cupcake section that Half went to rao/ter? Very sweet. (The boys use rao/nai.)

Also, yay for the twist on the school counselor character! Best thing ever. I would like the entire story of Nop & Sin GMMTV, please and thank you. Also… NO SINGING. 

Sunset X Vibes (Sat iQIYI) ep 6 of 12 - I’m continuing to enjoy this a lot. It’s a fun cast. A touch twee for me, and I’m really hoping they amp up something other than the romance soon, but I don't mind ending my week with these two.

The Trainee (Sun YouTube) ep 3 of 12 - I'm enjoying this show so much, just not as a BL (yet). It’s honest to the internship experience of overwhelm (such as I recall, it's been A WHILE). I’m not sure how much BL I’m getting from it thus far. I mean our leads shared a long glance or two but that’s about it. It’s very slow burn. But I don’t mind that since I’m liking the surrounding stuff. Can't stand the girlfriend intern character tho. I hope she get redeemed.  Or killed.

Love Sea (Sun iQIYI) ep 6 of 10 - Halfway through I had already finished my drink out of sheer boredom.  Trash watch here.

Knock Knock Boys (Thurs Gaga) ep 9 of 12 - Frankly I’m finding this relatively dull right now. Lovely kisses tho. Best and Seng are great together, consummate BL pros, not a pair I had on my bingo card. 

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

I Hear the Sunspot AKA Hidamari ga Kikoeru (Japan Weds Gaga) ep 5 of 10 - I like how much we can see K’s intense liking and emotional need for this loud broken kid. And how easy it is for him to admit to that truth. Because what he’s going through is so much worse than admitting to having feelings. The acting is fantastic. Sometimes I forget how great Japan can be. And then they decide to remind me. Oh, it’s SO GOOD. 

Takara's Treasure AKA Takara No Vidro (Japan Mon Gaga) ep 3 of 10 - Another one I’m finding boring. Just japan’s version. The vintage yaoi “old dude creep trope” I see. It’s been a while. 

It's airing but...

Meet You at the Blossom - it's your funeral (or, more likely, one of the main characters'). You can argue but... statistics. You know my feelings on this matter. MY BLOG, remember?

Something something authors fighting - save me. Why don't writers understand that nothing is more boring than writers?

Aside from rivalshipping and spiritshipping are there any other Yugioh ships you enjoy?

I am the worst multishipper in the galaxy. Like truly.

I grew up loving Joey and Mai but now that I’m older and I know the actual age gap it’s hard to still be for it. If it does happen it happens way later in life. Right now they are just really good friends

The DM crew is so friendship based it’s hard for me. I’ll dabble in wishshipping or puzzleshipping (I get where they are coming from and when done right it’s done right) but I set this au as rivalshipping and rivalshipping it will stay.

I could see Tristian and Miho.

Atem is different because I think he’s just interested in games here. Or pinning over Mana or Mahad which ever way you want it to go.

And while I’m a hard Spiritshipper Yusei x Jaden when done right is done right. And I can understand where Jaden x Alexis are coming from even if it’s not my favorite.

Honestly they are a group of teenagers on an island who are just figuring themselves out. Thank goodness the writers didn’t do romance because the amount of break up and different relationships you could have is wild.

I’m focusing on Rivalshipping and Spiritshipping here because I prefer them.

Anyone else will probably be in passing. The story is Jaden focused and I don’t think Jaden paid much attention to dating at duel academy. I can absolutely see his friends being in a relationship flying right over his head until they break up and he’s like “woh why is X sad all the sudden?”

He’s emotionally smart but also very focused on friendship and dueling.

I haven’t made and decisions on side pairing because I like to leave options open. If you think these two people should be together that’s great and if you want to see that in this story even better. I probably will keep most of the relationship age for that reason.

I have my to main ships and if I feel like adding another pairing I will but right now the DM crew are young adults raising a child (18 year olds raising a 4 year old) they have pleanty of time to figure out their lives.

And when Jaden goes to school his friends are all teens. There are messy crushes and relationship but it’s rare for any of them to stick. (Example Chazz and Alexis might go on one date and decide to be friends afterwards. Zane and Atticus might have had a thing their first year before Atticus went missing and it takes them a while to find their groove again or they date other people) it’s all fluid right now.

And I wonder how I will handle Constantine and Addolorata too. I have an idea of course, I already have the name of the ship (I had fun to make up ship names) and I think RoyalSnare or SlowBurn (it was a coincidence!)

The thing is Lolicia's character development need to be widely open like a cracked egg for their relationship to start for real. I think... I THINK their relationship will be a based on a FromSoftware 3 phases boss 🤣

Also, you will not believe it but I have something for Serenity too, because you said she is scared of the sea and the dark and its kinda Lolicia things and I wanted to help her deal with her phobias ? And it would be an interesting short healing trauma/cute/deep relationship but it is very difference from a full romance with Constantine.

And Constantine deep friendship with Serenity could be healing to her fear of abandonment or being alone. Because even if she loves her dad, she would take time to open her heart again because she is afraid to lose Alastor abruptly again (logically)

I don't know, what do you think ? It could be interesting to work with. I'm sorry I like complexity to things ahah.

I love it when she is about to die and then she heard the phone moan notification and look at the side. And then she saw Sherlock like "Girl, I'm saving you". So brave. Mycroft really said "she's dead forget it" and Sherlock took immediately a plane ticket to save her.

I like her in the movies too. I mean he let her do things he never will with others but I'm not even sure he realised it. Mycroft did realised that Irene has a full diamond room in Sherlock mind palace ahah

And this looks like a great idea! Serenity is afraid of that feeling of unknown, helplessness and darkness in the sea. Lolicia is seriously a character who can help her get through this It would be very interesting to see the interaction of the two.I think they will have a nice dynamic!

And yes, Serenity never wanted to talk about what she went through after he died.Alastor doesn't know much about her and their lives were different.Serenity's experiences here are a bit similar to Constantine's, so a friendship would normally develop between the two. After all, they are both rare people who can understand each other. I think the plan you came up with is really creative! But it can be difficult to write all of that so don't work yourself too hard❤️

And definitely in the movies, Irene actually had a special room for herself in Sherlock's mind palace.

I definitely recommend playing it yourself if you have the opportunity.Seriously great RPG For example, I was a bard character and I beat almost every boss in ACT2 by talking.(It was so much fun being a sweet-talking snake)

And certainly Harlepp was probably like a gift for those who loved Raphael.

It was nice to read where the people in the hotel were preparing for the show.The parts where Charlie convinced the team were great!

And seriously, you would make a great songwriter. I wish there were people who decided to bring your songs to life!

First of all, I want to talk about the narrator.HE'S AWESOME. I loved his design, his personality, his dialoges, all of them! I seriously think he is a very creative character! Draw him at the first opportunity

Also, it's really cool that the weapon he uses is inspired by the Turks! I think you made a very creative choice I LOVE IT.

Now let's get to the songs.Husk and Angel's duet was simply amazing! I loved the dialogues, the descriptions of the characters were very nice and it was a really cute and well thought out scene, in one word, it was wonderful!

Seriously, it was great to read the song and witness the thoughts of the characters.

Apart from that, I also loved the conversations of Lolicia and Al backstage!It's a really cute detail that Vittori and Alastor's shadow are constantly having little cat and dog fights with each other.

And Alastor and Charlie's duet.It was seriously perfect The characters finish each other's words, literally fight with words, and on the other hand, Charlie does not fall under Alastor and shows herself with determination, and finally makes Alastor say what she wants.

It was perfect!The movements of the characters while singing the dialogues were described really well.And I was seriously smiling while reading it, it was a truly magnificent scene.I would even pay money to see this scene in animated form!

And seriously the way you describe the scene is Alastor's movements On the other hand, it was great how the scene changed color as Charlie stepped forward.At the end, when Charlie makes Alastor say that he trusts her.Alastor's reaction was also very nice!

And in the final part, it was great to see Charlie stretching her chest and talking to the crowd, and Precious supporting him as a friend!You are truly an amazing writer!

I seriously want to draw this scene so much rn (l hate that damn exams)

Niffty and Al on's duet was really cute too The song was written really well.And it was so nice to have our little gremlin taking the spotlight!

Finally, SERENITY CAMEO I SERIOUSLY DON'T KNOW HOW YOU PRESENT A CHARACTER THAT WELL! Seriously, the scene came to life in front of me. You described it perfectly. It's so beautiful when Serenity appears with Olcayto and then takes her coat and leaves.And I love the way you described her appearance.And it was perfect that you refer to her with the lolicia saying "may luck be with you"!

The pair chatted throughout the short drive to the cafe Changbin had chosen, a cute little cafe owned by a lovely older lady. They sat down by the window, grabbing a menu and having a look at what was offered. After a few minutes the owner came and got thier orders, quickly finding out it was a first date of sorts - she gushed over how cute they were and when their drinks arrived at the table they quickly found hearts decorating the tops.

Y/N couldn't help but take a photo, finding the whole cafe and its owner adorable. Changbin watched them, a smile permenantly on his face. The pair spoke about work and how teenagers can be the hardest people to deal with, Changbin on the side of teacher and Y/N on the side of parent - which unsurprisingly are very similar. They also spoke about school, memories of laughing through science classes and almost crying through maths classes (that one was more aimed at Y/N, Changbin was always in top set)...

Their time together was short lived as Y/N break was coming to an end. Finishing up their drinks before they walked up to the counter ready to pay the bill - of which Changbin begged to pay for - the kind lady had given them thier drinks on the house (she was just so happy and honoured that someone had chosen her cafe for their first date).

The drive back to the leisure centre was filled with comfortable silence, the radio playing softly in the background. Pulling up meant the end of their date,

"I'll see you at practise, thank you for today - I had a great time!" Y/N spoke, reaching for the door handle.

"Yeah, see you at practise. We'll have to do this again soon..." Changbin responded shyly, unsure on what exactly to say. Y/N just smiles before waving.

I've been a f1 fan for a little over two weeks now (which is not a lot, ik) and I thought it would be fun to keep track of my favorite drivers over time.

The first drivers I got to know were obviously my first favorites:

1. Charles Leclerc

The clip of Charles signing his own gloves was basically what got me into f1 in the first place. It's a dumb reason but now I actually enjoy everything that comes with f1 and not only the pretty drivers.

2. Daniel Ricciardo

Danny Ric, my love, I still consider him one of the best people that have ever happened to f1. He is just such a sweetheart and I'm a sucker for simley boys.

3. Max Verstappen

I honestly have mixed feelings about Maxy. I love him for who he is but there are several things that he does or says that I personally consider not okay. I respect him a lot and I think he has a good heart but there are situations that make me think about that twice. But honestly his proud grin when someone laughs about one of his jokes is the best thing on this planet <3

My favorite drivers one week into liking f1:

1. Daniel Ricciardo

I really believe he makes the world a better place by simply existing. I don't think I have to elaborate.

2. Charles Leclerc

My crush slowly fading into the background while I'm starting to get to know the other drivers. Charles will always have a special place in my heart as the reason I got into f1. He is also probably the driver that I'm rooting for the most even though there are so many drivers that I want to see winning.

3. Pierre Gasly

Pierre being Charles best racing friend made me want to learn more about him and suddenly I fell in love. He probably has the most infectious laugh ever and the way he interacts with Yuki makes me melt.

My favorite drivers two weeks into liking f1:

1. Pierre Gasly

Pierre has officially taken my heart. I love him. Portect him at all cost.

2. Alex Albon

This one took me by surprise actually. I was watching stream highlight (because of Charles) a lot lately so I naturally got confronted with the sweetheart that is Alex Albon. I honestly can see him taking P1 from Pierre soon. But it somehow makes so much sense. Alex is definetly the kind of person I would want in my life, while Pierre and Charles are more like a casual celebrety crush ig. Idk, I can't explain it, but Alex Albon yall.

3. Charles Leclerc

Charles is definetly being a constant here. And I really hope he stays in the top three. My love. Always being the one I'm rooting for.

I was playing f1 2020 today and felt like cheating when I even considered driving for anything else than Ferrari. Thanks for that Charles xD

Okay, so I have about 700 hours on ARK but I dont know SHIT about the story. I just watched the animated series, but I want to know everything about Meiyin, Helena, and Diana! From my understanding Meiyin has dated both? Please give me the lore!!!!

lore: meiyin and helena meet on the island and after a little while they become really good friends. but they’re not in a relationship. they both complete the island as they win from the overseer. but where helena gets sent to scorched earth, meiyin gets sent to aberration. helena meets some new friends here like raia. meiyin spends some time alone in the caves but eventually shes helped out by a team when she’s in trouble. this is where she meets diana. so they have loads of bonding time and a mutual admiration for each other but eventually they both start to feel more for each other, the notes are so cute. diana makes a necklace for mei, mei calls diana after a tangerine etc. so we get to extinction. in the mean time meiyin and helena reunite and also have loads of great moments but it’s still friendship. there are people who ship them from the lore tho. but helena is going to ascend around this part of the lore. eventually diana dies BUT she comes back and then she and meiyin kiss and officially become gfs and they start unraveling the mysteries of the arks together

show: diana isn’t here yet. i’m not sure if the show will do a season on scorched earth/aberration but me personally i think so. because at the end of part 1 of the series they show bob coming back, he’s laying in the desert with a jerboa which hints at scorched earth. which is where helena goes. so they might also do aberration along with that.

helena and meiyin meet in the show and immediately hit it off which is really cute. but you watched this so no need to explain. my point is basically the show isn’t an immediate translation of the lore. they’ve changed a lot of things but keep the lore as a guide. in this case meiyin and helena are together instead of waiting for diana to arrive in the show when they’re on a different map (if they even will introduce her. but i think they will since they are also introducing santiago. he has worked with diana)

Yuletide Ramblings

While I'm not religious by any measure, Christmas in Norway is honestly a decently secular experience once you tune out all the songs about Jesus and roses springing from barren fields and whatnot. This is to say that the holidays have always been about family and the people close to me. I may be overstepping my bounds a bit, but let's include my dear tumblr moots and general tumbl-o-sphere in the proceedings and talk a little bit about my 2023 on Tumblr.

If I'm going to be frank, and I want to unless the opportunity to be earnest should present itself, 2023 was a tough year for me. My ongoing journey to finding treatment for my depression stalled out, and my job search has similarly been quietly moved from the "top priority" box to the "it'll happen when it happens"-pile. I've been able to do this much thanks to the welfare systems in my neck of the woods, and although the process has kind of sucked along a number of axises, I do acknowledge it has helped me.

What has also helped me, though, is you guys. After starting using the platform in June of this year, I have found replete friendship and support, an almost overwhelming torrent of commisseration, enthusiasm and the particular brand of weird that seems to be the first language around here. Y'all have helped me get writing and stay writing, and really have honed my "take it easy, but take it" approach to a razor's edge.

While many parts of the internet are slowly but surely content-ifying themselves into a desolate wasteland of human connection, Tumblr keeps going with actually trying out the "social" part of this whole social media thing. Granted, that may be because of incompetence in trying to follow the trends on Tumblr's end. Still, I want to thank all y'all for keeping it personal, for keeping it weird, and keeping it as free of the scourge of "personal branding" as one could conceivably make a site full of artists and freelancers.

Cheerleading social media sites isn't really my bag, but I will concede that I've grown quite attached to the way Tumblr does things, and the weird arbitrary ways it prods us into acting. It's all down to the people, of course, and I've found quite a batch of good eggs on this here site. I almost don't want to shoutout specific users because I'm afraid I'm going to forget someone truly marvelous and even though there's every chance they'll never notice, I will know and the snub will eat at me.

That said, I do want to shout out a couple of people who've made my first half a year of tumblr great. @toribookworm22's timely asks have certainly helped me keep track of the weekdays, as well as helped me with a bunch of worldbuilding and minutiae. @dyrewrites and @teacupsandstarlight have both been great to talk to, and I would be in dereliction of my duties if I didn't at least mention the illustrious @scifimagpie in this context as well. @jeahreading and I seem to mostly pass as ships in the night, but sometimes the distant sound of a foghorn can be just the thing, to torture the metaphor a little. @that-weird-kid-from-your-school is also a joy to talk to, and her palpable enthusiasm is great.

Now for some people whose work I follow who I don't speak to much because I am intimidated by their skills. @canisalbus and their adorable gay dog-men never cease to fill my heart with love. @secondlina and their crows similarly also make me smile. @mlm-blues and @were--ralph have both done wonders for my self-esteem, and it is nice to see and share the enthusiasm for lads on occasion. @shyroism is mostly off-site what with the streaming, but they're definitely an underrated streamer who could do with some more eyeballs on their work. @fidgetspringer is an awesome punk, an awesome artist (shoutout @fidgetspringer-art,) and has a truly magnificent beast of a bird hound. @everythingfox is an endless source of cute animals which is an obvious lifesaver, @bearotonin-international is Important, @raccoon-central similarly does some heavy lifting for my mental health with their lil' grabby hands. @bodhrancomedy is a good lad who does good videos and do the acting real good. @sootchild has good art and I like it.

I'm running out of steam, which is a shame because there are a lot of people who deserve just heaps of praise heaped upon them on here. Hell, if you're still reading at this point, rest assured I think you're at the very least awesome and deserve good things happening to you.

In closing, I would like to once again express my delight and joy for how Tumblr has been in my first half year, and I hope the however long until I get maudling again is just as good if not even better!

Really relieved to here you are still posting Chloenette, but either way, I'm going to (Slightly) dial back by including other stuff: Idea 1: Wenclair goes on a double date with Chloenette. Wednesday and Chloe talk about how two "bad girls" like themselves ended up dating a pair of sweethearts, while Marinette shows off her fashion design skills to Enid.

Idea 2: Chloenette, but Chloe and Marinette switch financial situations. Marinette is still nice, but incredibly rich and a bit disconnected from "regular" problems. Chloe is now struggling to get by, and has a big chip on her shoulder about her lot in life.

Idea 3: Chloenette AU where Chloe secretly practices martial arts and enters illegal matches on the streets as a way to vent her frustration and aggression... and somehow ends up with Marinette as her manager as illegal fighting groups begin wanting to recruit her.

I can never give up on any of my ships. They're too precious, ya know?

Idea 1: It starts off with compliments. Their girlfriends are amazing and they want everyone within a ten meter distance to know about it because that's just how they are. They're Addams, it runs in the blood.

The compliments started to get more specific until it had words like 'well my girlfriend is' until the two are just trying to one up each other by trying to compliment their girlfriend that it's more like waxing poetry.

Marinette and Enid are watching from the side as Chloe growls while Wednesday crosses her arms. The two girls sigh as their other halves try (and fail) to intimidate each other.

"You wanna go get ice cream and watch the latest TWICE videos?"

"OMG, yes!"

The two leave and chat as they buy ice cream, Marinette showing some of the designs she thought of when she saw the latest videos and Enid getting excited and gushes on how "so cute!" and "they should totally wear that!".

When they come back Wednesday is already at Chloe's back trying to headlock her. Chloe had transformed to her werebear form and was swatting at Wednesday like a bug.

Idea 2: Reminds me slightly of my Fake Dating AU. Marinette knows she's lucky to be born with wealth and money at her disposal. She doesn't take advantage of it (well, most times) and would rather have her own earnings. Alya teases her how she can be a bit clueless at times regarding financial problems.

She tries to help people as much as she can but Chloe was not most people. She's offered to help the blonde by covering the cost of their paired up projects but she's only met with an indignant huff and a sarcastic reply of, "Don't worry. I'm sure splitting the expenses won't get met out of this place easily."

It's not like she can really blame Chloe. Sure, she was a brat but she was also dealing with a lot of problems. Most problems Marinette haven't had in her sixteen years of living.

It's been eight months since the other girl begrudgingly accepted her (consistent) friendship and well...

"Dupain-Cheng," there's a warning in her voice but Marinette decided it was time to maybe push a little. See how far she can go this time with the blonde.

"Bourgeois," she says it like a tease, her lips turned upward, "Let me pay for our coffee? Come on, just once!"

"You're an insufferable brat."

"Thank you, you taught me well."

"Oh, fuck off. I don't need your money. I can pay for coffee. I'm not a charity case, Dupain-Cheng."

She'd usually give up by now, especially when Chloe uses the 'I can pay for myself and I hate your pity' line. But, she has a plan...

"I know you can, but I also know you want to buy that pretty yellow blanket for Pollen..," she honestly didn't know who Pollen was but guessing from Chloe's stories, it was probably her pet.

A raised brow, "So?"

"So, let me pay for our coffee this time. Get the blanket for the lil fella."

"Dupain-Cheng -"

"Or you could repay me later." Please say yes please say yes please say yes-

"Okay." Yes!

Marinette grinned, "Great! There's this newly opened Japanese restaurant I found and I know you love sushi. Repay me by going with me?"

Chloe's eyes widened, her mouth slightly parted. Her face colored pink as she looked away from the blue haired girl.

"F-fine."

Idea 3: Chloe wasn't sure why she trusted Alix when she said she found her a competent and trustworthy manager for her preferred...hobby. work? lifestyle? honestly she didn't know what to call it but she loved doing it.

She was expecting a stoic stranger, maybe a woman who's seen a lot of things in life to not be worried or deterred about Chloe's job(?). Someone who can come to her matches and strike up deals and competitions with other people while keeping everything professional. She was expecting a coach and a manager.

She was not expecting Dupain-Cheng of all people. Reminder to self: kick Alix's ass next time you meet for brunch.

Marinette, to her credit, did not: stumble, stutter, fluster, speak Adrien's name for the entirety of the conversation, called Chloe a brat or tell her she was lost and she was actually a manager for the build a bear right next to Chloe's favorite diner. So, points for her.

Chloe was still Chloe though. "You seem to be lost."

"And you seem to still be difficult."

A scoff, "Fuck you. Alix is probably laughing at me right now. How did she even get you into this mess? Did she tell you she was looking for someone to manage a newly opened boutique while staring at the boy next store across the street?"

Marinette snorted, "No and I do not stare at the 'boy next store'. That's just rude."

Chloe smirked, "You didn't seem to mind staring at Adrien."

"I was thirteen."

"All I'm hearing is you have a type."

So since you like eremika and my fics (i really am honoured thank u) I am gonna rec some stuff with themes that I am drawn to: (cws in red)

Scum’s wish: it's a story about 2 high schoolers trying to sate their intense feelings for other people, with each other. there's a lot of great elements about loneliness, hunger, desperation to be noticed, a certain willingness to throw away your self respect because of the intensity of your desire etc. i'm super drawn to these themes so you might see them pop in my fics! cw: nsfw, character ages not mentioned i think but they're in final year i think so 17-18?

Hirunaka no ryuusei: I used to write fic for this manga! that's how obsessed i was with this. even now i find myself wishing for an anime of this one. This is a love triangle shoujo manga. So this starts off with a high schooler- suzume- who moves to tokyo and develops feelings for her teacher. At the same time, she develops tentative friendships, one with a boy who falls hopelessly in love with her. I recommend this manga EVEN if you don't like the teacher x student trope bc you might enjoy where it ends up. the characters are really well done, the emotions hit hard. and it can also be cute and funny at times!

Fruits basket: Another one that I have written a couple of fics for! Furuba was pretty popular esp with the reboot anime that came out a few years ago so maybe you know this, but man does it go heavy on the angst. It's about an orphan who stumbles into a really old wealthy family that suffers from a curse. There's such good stuff here: forbidden relationships, repressed desires, self-loathing, innocence and pain. Make sure to grab the tissues if you pick it up! I liked both the anime (2019?) and the manga. The characters are very very well done!! Tons of deep characters with great backstory.

akatsuki no yona: I must admit I am not caught up with like the last 20 chaps or so but I was super obsessed with it. It's got a wonderful FMC- princess yona- who goes through a really nice growth arc. the chemistry between her bodyguard and her is TO DIE FOR! and tbh i consider this a huge inspiration for whenever I want to write something that conveys devotion. Nobody does it like Hak. And yeah lots of gorgeous men. Pretty art style. Highly recommend!

Ok now I'm going to recommend some stuff that may not be to everyone's taste, but I feel like there's a running theme with what I'm drawn to, so here it is. There are several works of CLAMP that I really adore:

They are super well known for CardCaptor Sakura, and that was one of my faves growing up. CCS is quite tame but has a really strong ship with some of my fav elements: soulmates, fate, i-will-do-anything-for-you vibes. Syaoran x Sakura and also Touya x Yukito was a huge obsession of mine back in the day! (There's some fics on my ao3/FFN if you are curious what I used to write a million years ago lol).

Now tsubasa reservoir chronicle is a very twisted and at times confusing multiverse manga with the same characters as CCS and some of CLAMP's other works, and i know this is a controversial take but i loved it. I tend to read works for very specific reasons, like the angst or the doomed relationship vibes? like repression, unrequited love, a sort of unhinded tendency to sacrifice others and the self in service of your lover is very much a vibe i am drawn to even at the cost of plot loopholes. so you'll find a lot of that here. the plot summary: syaoran travels across different worlds and dimensions to find princess sakura's memories, without which she is an empty shell (she has no memory of him). there is a really stellar backstory to this that is honestly (for me) uncomparable to anything else i have ever read.

Another manga (from the 90s lol) by the same group is Tokyo Babylon which is a really short manga featuring a teenage onmyouji and his twin sister and his strange relationship with a much older "veterinarian". The series has a lot of occult themes and i think for it's time received good reviews for its portrayal of queer themes. It's a manga for the weird ones lol... It's very angsty, and mysterious, and has a tragic ending. cw: Age gap

Other manga/anime that I like that are somewhat aot-esque (to me) in their exploration of character and social commentary are: fullmetal alchemist brotherhood, heavenly delusion and psycho pass!!

I finished Jenny Nicholson's video about Bronycon finally, and decided to check if Equestria Daily still exists. amazingly it's still up. I went to check out the article that featured my art once - I realised THIS MARCH marked 10 years since I had a moment of Horse Fame!! XD

my old username was ArtFlicker and I was featured in an Artist Spotlight. it's nice to be reminded of what people actually see or saw in my drawings. (ignore the she/her pronouns - I was about 14, didn't realise I was a trans guy yet, and wouldn't acknowledge it for a few years at least. :P)

I explored gender through pony genderbends / genderswapping and shipping. it made me ask questions about society and probably made me who I am today. made me ask why does society treat you different depending on what you were assigned at birth? if a character were the opposite sex, what would change in both their body and their upbringing? (I didn't know about trans or nonbinary options yet. I think they call it cisswapping these days?) I also genderbent straight ships gay because... boys. I liked boy characters! and BL. and I got to explore the new dynamic. like if they're gay now, suddenly their relationship is unacceptable to some people, and actually illegal in many places. even though everything else is the same, suddenly it's transgressive? really makes a teen realise that they're living in a society. the whole thing made me think more deeply about gender and in turn stereotypes, inequality and oppression.

(some gay (M/M gay not lesbian gay) Rainbow Dash genderswaps + gay-fied/un-straighted SoarinDash. I drew more of Pinkie Pie/Pokey Pierce but I show them in every post where I mention my Pony Past, so here's a rare selection of Rainbow Blitz instead)

um okay, it doesn't need to be that deep, everyone just seemed to love my cute shippy art, which I really appreciated. I put a lot of work into it and it was great fun. I think I put more work into these than I do my art nowadays... I want to go back to finishing things digitally but I don't know how anymore. it's like it's harder now. then again, 4-legged characters who don't even need clothes were very easy to design, draw and pose. should I return to that??

a nice comment similarly delving into love for my messy art. I guess maybe I'm too obsessed with (even romanticising and envying) the idea of clean line art being superior and my own being permanently "worse" for being a mess.

The Last Bronycon, the video essay, was kind of hard to watch through, for personal reasons. it's like I'm coming to terms with my cringe past. but I cringed at the brony fandom for years after I left not because "embarrassing to be hyped about the colorful kids show," but because of the oversexualization and homophobia that seemed to plague the fandom.

at first, Equestria Daily didn't even accept M/M shipping fics, because they were allegedly """out of character,""" while F/F or F/M shipping fics AND suggestive fan art was allowed without question. it was meanspirited and conservative, typical for a "cishet dudes" kind of community. very typical for a "fandom originating from 4chan" kind of community... I'm over my hatred for bronies in general but THAT part is what I'm ashamed of when it comes to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

and yet it was a mostly good experience for my first big fandom. I made self-discoveries, lifelong friends and I got a good grade in shipping and art according to the fandom overlords of EqD. normal to want and possible to achieve. XD I didn't even realise the fandom had quieted down. the MLP:FiM fandom was SO prominent, it was everywhere in the 2010s. it was a very 2010s moment and I didn't even realise it until it was over. it's very similar to Homestuck in that way, because I don't see Homestuck cosplays anymore either, but in my mind it still feels MASSIVE even though I was never part of that fandom.

they're not Annoyingly Prominent anymore and the absence feels kind of... bad? painful?

I miss it? it's like, wow, you REALLY don't realise what you have until it's gone.

Wilbur has encouraged me so I will be talking about Nancy Wheeler because she is such an important character to me.

A lot of the time when it comes to talking about Nancy's future, it tends to be wrapped up in 'who' she will end up with. Steve or Jonathan. (Or Robin for us poor Ronance shippers but I'm talking canon right now sadly and the Suffer Brothers hate the gays/j)

But Nancy is so much more than who she's currently dating. Also let me say this already, I fully believe that Nancy will survive season five, she is a survivor. This girl who started out as a bit of a wallflower, just happy to have a cute guy interested in her has evolved into a sure-of-herself woman who will fight to live and to protect the ones she loves. In the whole show, I feel like her character is one of the ones that's had the most growth.

So let's talk after season five where I want to see her heading post show. Obviously, college. Even if there is a time jump and her schooling gets delayed because she's too busy kicking ass in Hawkins, I still want to see her go to school. It's important to her and after everything she's gone through she deserves it. The only alternative I wouldn't mind seeing to this is her writing a book on her experiences in Hawkins. She wants to be a newspaper editor and author isn't that big of a leap from it. No matter what she does, becoming an author or pursuing school I want to see her get the fuck out of Hawkins when the show ends.

Nancy and Robin (who at this point would be great friends) moving into an apartment together in the big city. Having house plants. Decorating their home. And they were roommates. The point to this I'm trying to make is I also would like to see the evolution of her and Robin's friendship. In season four they were only starting to become friends, I would like to see where it would've went from there.

Now onto spicy opinion territory. Jancy vs Stancy. Like I said I want Nancy out of Hawkins, and I kinda want her single out of Hawkins. Her relationship with Jonathan is suffering and I don't think they're going to have time during the supposed five year time skip to fix it. Also they're both not the most forthcoming about their feelings, thanks to their parents, so if anything these two will avoid talking about it. And her and Steve, I'm not going to say much on it, but as I've said previously I worry about that storyline.

But if you ship Stancy and/or Jancy I am not putting you down, they are great in their own ways and I can see why people ship them, this post is just entirely my opinion.

Back to Jancy real quick. I want Nancy single for a while and Jonathan too but after a couple years and these two do some work on themselves and learn some self love, I can see these two reconnecting although I don't think we'd see that in the show.

I just want Nancy to be the one who actually gets to live out her dream. I don't want to see her held back in Hawkins or settling for something she doesn't truly want.

An unpopular opinion: Idk - I'm a live and let live kind of person. I guess if I had any kind of opinion, popular or otherwise, it would be that some people just need to take a deep breath. Someone else's pairing or POT or TOP or OPT or whatever doesn't invalidate your own, etc. etc. We all love these characters, that's enough.

my canon OTP: Errr... idk. Probably Bege and his wife. She's feisty, I like her.

Non-canon OTP: ZoSan probably? Idk, after reading 20 Year Waltz by - I think - @landeg (I'm bad with names, my apologies if I'm tagging the wrong person) I just fell hard for them. (I also recommend the comic, I think it's up on red bubble or some such, easily worth 20+ $ imo)

most badass character: honestly, I gotta say Kid - No mentor, no teacher, no granddad or anything. Aside from Killer and the people he eventually gathered up, he didn't have any real support or help, and how far he got on his own like that is impressive.

pairing I am not a fan of: None comes to mind. I can see the pros of pretty much any pairing. I'm personally not in for under age pairing, but I mean like, teenagers date. I was a teenager, I remember that. Cutesy stuff has no age concerns for me.

character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Ennnnnh. No strong feelings here. I'm just enjoying the story xD

If this project hasn't shown up to you yet or if you're not in the Discord server, then you probably haven't heard about this project I'm working on: Feelin' Kinda Cocky!

Feelin' Kinda Cocky is a Be More Chill dating sim/visual novel where you play as Michael, and romance one of four love interests at Middleborough high (not including secret routes and possible polyamorous routes).

This game has been in production for two years now, but is stuck in the writing phase. I just recently completed Rich's route and have just started Dustin's. Not to mention, I have a bit of early-game material for Jake and Jeremy. Between school, extracurriculars, and taking care of my mental health, it has taken me a long time to write. However, I was recently prescribed ADHD meds, which will tackle my executive dysfunction. That, combined with a lofty New Years resolution, I'm aiming to get all of the writing done before the end of 2023. ...Especially because the artists for this game have been extremely patient with me, and I want them to be able to contribute sooner rather than later. Although I might have one or both of 'em draw some stuff to make the Tumblr page look nicer-

2. Joining the FKC team

Everyone who has joined the team so far (two artists and a writer) has joined completely voluntarily, purely in an effort to bring this idea to life. I feel like this is a given, but I want to make it clear that this is not a paid job for anyone involved, including myself. Just like Be Less Single, Feelin' Kinda Cocky will be published on a website and/or on Steam for free, meaning I will make absolutely no money off this game. I just want to make a fan-game with the help of my fellow fandom nerds lol

As a writer, I'm hoping we can work collaboratively to come up with storylines, route events, and dynamics between the ships. Whether you want to work on all the routes, or just focus on one ship, I'd love to work with you! I am currently one person attempting to plan out and write four separate routes, all with three different endings if you don't include secret routes, which I will write myself regardless.

I will also say, if you want to multitask (for example, be an artist or a programmer while also being a writer), go ahead.

For the writing (and the game as a whole), I want to make it clear that I care a great deal about positive representation. And I don't mean just making cute little scenes of our favorite ships (though that is absolutely apart of the game); I mean accurately depicting things like trauma, mental illness, neurodivergency, queer experiences, relationships and friendships, so on and so forth. Not only because all the things I listed are important to me, but because they're extremely important to a lot of other people, especially within this fandom.

I just wanted to know what’s your opinion on Elmike (platonic El and Mike)? I’ll be honest when I say Mileven is a ship that does make me a bit uncomfortable but I do like the idea of Mike and El loving each other, even if it’s not romantic. I think it’s always been obvious that these two love and care about each other a lot, but for me I like to think of it more as platonic/even familial. Thinking of these two as best friends just give me so much joy because I think the idea is so cute. Like, them just hanging out and listening to and singing along to catchy songs in El’s room with the rest of the party is such an appealing idea to me. Anyways, what do you think of them being just friends?

I think that romantic mileven harbors all the qualities of platonic mileven, so I don’t really see the appeal? Their friendship is a part of their relationship, and I don’t think the romantic aspect of it takes away from the friendship.

When I perceive the relationship the way I do, genuine, romantic and reciprocal, i dont think it’s lacking anything.

When people say mileven makes them uncomfortable, it typically comes from a place of undermining El and her ability to make her own choices, so that does bug me the wrong way. And I think it’s just as weird to say that their dynamic is familial when they’ve been dating for like 2 years😭
