I know we universally dislike how Danganronpa handled Chihiro and "he dresses like a girl because it makes him feel comfortable and less anxious but also he wants to become stronger so that he can shed his anxious feminine self and be a real man" but.

I had less of a problem than maybe I should have.

Because.

That's Ritsu's storyline in Fruits Basket (albeit with less murder). Ritsu dresses as a woman - full Hiyoko style get-up - because it makes him less anxious, because it calms him. His idea is that when he becomes more confident and sure of himself (and feels less like his existence is a blight on the entire world for which he must apologize (hi Mikan)), he will dress in suits and be more manly. In fact, the main character, Tohru, believes he is a woman until it's revealed otherwise, and this is seen as a deep point of shame.

However.

Fruits Basket also gives us Ayame Sohma, who overflows with the most confidence of anyone in the entire series, and who also. is a fashionista. Also occasionally wears women's clothing (a wedding dress, at one point, because his clothing store is to fulfill men's fantasies, and one of them is apparently wearing a wedding dress and getting married). Does not see a problem with stylizing his little brother's clothes as more feminine or putting him in a dress (despite said little brother very much not liking being mistaken for a woman or having people mention how feminine he looks).

Like.

Ayame aggressively does not care about your gender roles ever at any point in time.

And Fruits Basket tells us that this is the person Ritsu wants to emulate.

So like.

I should have a problem with how Danganronpa handled Chihiro.

But I'm also starting to wonder how common a plot point/trope this sort of thing is in Japanese media.

posting a KK/Akito fic again, because I have feelings about them. things get a bit spicy this time.

personal note: so, this is my first attempt at writing smut for a ship. the thing is, I have a complicated relationship with smut, and I never could decide how I want to write explicit scenes like that. So, KK/Akito came like a godsend to me -- i don't have to worry about squashing faces, body parts interacting, and - crosses fingers as if banishing evil spirit - writing their intimate feelings. I don't think I would do well at that.

but, i do enjoy how other writers include sexual content in their stories, so I want to figure out how they make it work. this is an experiment, this is me working things out in a way that i enjoy and hopefully is enjoyable to read. i realize that it would be great to have a beta for these sort of things. but I'm just glad that i did the first step here, and i appreciate any honest feedback on how horribly i did in the process [: /j thx for reading!

Prisoner 012 Shi Rose

Your judgment was “innocent”, and as such her ideals were affirmed. With this “innocent” verdict, Shi is now treated as a warden ! If my hands weren’t fluffy I would’ve applauded you ! Thanks to you, she has quite the responsibility and as such has some power in the prison that’s why the prison got some « change ». She was also called but told me she didn’t sleep as long as you and already noticed the change in the prison. How pretentious of her. For your information, her trial is now postponed before the end of the trial. After all, you need to judge her as a prisoner and warden. Oh and she seems hostile against Caramel, I think something happened between her and Caramel, you already get why, right ?

Prisoner 013 Kyoki Yuai

Your judgment was “Conflicted”, and as such, she makes a choice.

With this choice, Kyoki has been quite different lately.. He was quite silent… and because of it, Prisoner 014 Hera Ai has been taking care of him to his heart content.

Well, thanks to Hera’s care, he seems to be fine and even talks again. He seems to depend on her for everything, wanting her attention every time. Well, a kid is a kid.

Because she was found “innocent”, Hera has been able to rest a lot !

Seeing Kyoki’s state, Hera have been taking care of him. And because you didn’t annoy her and respect your part of the contract with her, she seems ready to talk to you. But, the new situation of the prison quite angered her.

Prisoner 015, Shun Hikari

Your judgment was “guilty”, and as such, his ideas were rejected.

With a “guilty” verdict, I can’t tell if that is because of the guilty verdict but he’s pretty broken right now…

Well, a lot happens between Shun and Shi.

As a new warden, Shi had to learn about the murder/story of each prisoner. Some prisoners didn’t answer like Caramel and Hera but Shi always found a way to get to get them to answers. In the case of Shun, being guilty restrain his freedom leaving him to his own… So with the help of Rin, both of them made him live a nightmare until he answers. Poor him… but seems like they didn’t get the answer they wished to hear.

Prisoner 016, Satoko Dokousousei

Your judgment was “guilty”, and as such, her ideals were rejected. With the “guilty”, Satoko seems to be quite the miserable person. Being rejected was what she wanted, but because of it, she feels quite bored…

Prisoner 017, Akito Usotsuki

Your judgment was “guilty”, and as such, his ideals were rejected. With the “guilty” verdict, Akito has started to feel a bit paranoid. This verdict and isolation reopened his old wounds making him despite everything if he could run away he would. Well, to be honest you were a bit of a meany with him. Was it that cool to surge your anger to him who actually just followed your rule?

Well,he also got tortured by Shi and Rin.

Prisoner 018, Caramel Sato

Your judgment was “innocent”, and as such, her ideals were already affirmed.

Caramel Sato is a prisoner having already received some changes because of Milgram. Your verdict could affect her but in that case it didn't. It seems both Shi and Muse have something against her. I tried to find the most suspicious behavior but she didn’t actually do much. Isn’t suspicious?

Prisoner 019, Muse Nakamura

Your judgment was “guilty”, and as such, his ideals were rejected. Ouch ! Muse really doesn't live the verdict well. He can’t even control himself anymore. A wreck full of emotion unknown of when or why he will blow up. Also learning that Caramel is the reason why he ended up like this made him cry for revenge but seeing that only HIM got punished has hurt his pride, creating a feeling of inferiority against the innocent prisoners.

Prisoner 20, Rin Fujiwara

Your judgment was “innocent”, and as such her ideals were affirmed.

With an « innocent » verdict, Rin seems to be quite happy to know you agree with her. Seeing that you didn’t forgive any male prisoners made her more comfortable in Milgram. Since you didn’t ask for anything Rin didn’t do much except apply to whatever Shi said. Why ? Maybe because she thinks both of you are the warden ? Or she just wanted to have fun ?

Thinking about Danganronpa / Fruits Basket again.

Junko's still Akito, although Mastermind!Tsumugi fits there so well. Tsumugi is better as Ayame. (Although I can be convinced to flip these. I'm still thinking over it.)

But like.

The Yuki / Haru / Izuru dynamic is Shuichi / Kaito / Maki. Like. That's them. It is.

(Kaito also fits as Kakeru REALLY WELL, but the Haru/Izuru dynamic is Kaito/Maki. Because Maki is Izuru. Like. Of all of the ideas I've had so far, that's the closest to correct.)

It probably isn’t actually worth noting, but anytime I write ‘Akito’ to refer to the muse ( for ic content or anything else ), 9 times out of 10 it’s for anything pre-canon. Likewise, referring to him as ‘Dabi’ is for anywhere on the canon timeline l most of the time. 

Usually the only exceptions are threads taking place in the canon timeline, but taking place with people that either know his identity or have somehow gotten him vulnerable/trusting enough to really BE Akito instead of ‘Dabi’.

Road trip with those I love

You stuck your head out of the window, enjoying the roads rolling past you and the almost-sweet smell of the air… you’d always liked the more rural parts of Japan. Akito hummed along to the CD you’d put in at the start of the drive, it had looped a few times by now but he didn’t mind.

You two didn’t talk much, only occasionally pointing things out to each other… like the bakery near the exit that he wanted to try or the fields of sunflowers that you wanted to run free in. You two could do those things on the way back, if you ended up on the same road- you’ve got a destination you need to get to. A music festival with a competition for rising street-style singers… and of course Vivid Bad Squad wanted in. So, the two of you got to adventure your way there, rendevouzing with the other group members when night falls and you need to find a hotel, or when they want to go do something together. The two of you got some alone time during it all, but you did have to admit sometimes you wish you all took the same car. Both because you could tease Akito without the risk of him crashing the car and because you could share some calmer moments with him and the rest of VBS.

“Hey, you hungry? Kohane’s stopping to get soba with An and Toya.” You tap his shoulder, and he softly smiles at you.

“Yeah, sounds nice. You think Toya would mind riding with us and taking over driving for a bit?” He hums, following Kohane’s car to the soba resturant- a small joint, nothing much. You hop out of the car much faster than him-

“Hey, wait for me, dork! You can’t just abandon your partner-“ He’s going red… you pivot from heading to meet up with An and instead bolt over to Akito, hugging him as tight as you physically can.

“There we go, you are henceforth unabandoned!” You giggle, and he sighs warmly.

“I wonder how you can just use the word henceforth like it’s normal… this is what I get for choosing a nerd, huh?” He brushes his head against yours, before breaking away to talk with Toya and the others.

You eat lunch together, and you and Akito manage to convince Toya to drive you two for this leg (at the price of various coffee hard candies and various kisses). As he starts up the car, Akito worms his arms around your waist and leans his head on your shoulder.

“How is the seatbelt not digging into your neck and killing you.” You’re just honest and blunt as per usual, not acknowledging the affection verbally though you do raise a hand up to ruffle his hair.

“Shh, don’t care.” He nuzzles in and as you get moving again you can feel him slowly drift off to sleep. You talk with Toya, quietly so as not to disturb your partner, until the warm coziness of a rumbling car and arms around you and your favorite maestro’s humming mixed with the soft breaths of your marigold’s slumber lull you to sleep. You wonder how An and Kohane are doing… you hope your mouse and melody are driving safe.

You wake up to Kohane’s giggling and the sound of a camera flashing… Akito is still dead asleep, the car’s parked somewhere and it seems Toya met up with Kohane and An again. While you slowly shake the sleepy fog from your eyes, An wakes Akito up via a kiss on the lips sleeping beauty style… and then when that doesn’t work on him a light smack on the forehead.

“Huh? Whuh? Where…” His voice is all sleep-raspy…

“We’re gonna check out the venue. You’re coming with, it’s important to scope out where we’ll be performing.” While An speaks, you get up, stretching out your stiff muscles.

“And also leg stretch before the hotel. We’ve been driving for hours, we need to stretch.” Kohane’s voice is extra sweet today, you flush a little at the sound of her.

You nod, Akito joining the group outside, as you giggle and race each other to the stage.
