having a chronic illness/disability and also having medical trauma is a bitch for obvious reasons but also like. being part of the disabled community n stuff. like yeah i want to show my love and support for disabled people and i dont want to be uncomfortable when they talk about their experiences. if they talk about specific experiences i will stop breathing while the panic hits me like many bricks

i've been thinking about the subject of characters with identities or traits that would inherently diversify a work but are also in a sort of constant state of both being canon and non-canon. whether because the author confirmed it only after the source ended, or because its only word of god even if the series was/is still going at the time of the staff member saying so, or because its only shown in some versions of the media, or because its just coding and isnt explicitly said, or because its something the author is alright with it being depicted or not depicted. and theres a big discussion about whether these traits are important to celebrate, to portray even if they dont align with headcanons or even if they dont fit with the story itself.
or even if these traits are "hard to draw". hard to write in. hard to accomodate for. hard to change for. hard to envision. hard to see as Canon.
it ranges from transfem june egbert (doesnt align with many peoples headcanons, was confirmed only after proper homestucks end and has not been shown in extended media despite the og story having strong hints), to wheelchair user c!goodtimeswithscar (author is alright with it being depicted but also alright with it not being depicted, wheelchairs are considered to be hard to draw and hard to adapt to a world like minecraft).
fat terezi (depicted only in pesterquest, fat bodies are considered to be hard to draw and to adapt to certain art styles) to, for the sake of putting an objectively kind of shitty rep here, gay dumbledore (confirmed after the series ended. also jkr is a piece of shit whose writing shouldnt be supported in any form anyways, but this is here to show a low of this behavior).
even in adaptations like with annabeth chase being played by a black actor, even if shes not necesssarily described as black in the original media.
you could argue on and on about whether its more proper or respectful to just go by the original media only. or if its actively disrespectful to just go in favor with whats easier. whats more common. whats more "relatable". to keep making transmasc egbert because june is just a fictional character and transmasc people have been relating to her for ages so why should they have to change? to keep depicting c!scar as either a different form of disabled such as a cane user or using back braces because wheelchairs are hard to draw and its hard to think about adapting minecraft to wheelchair users and besides, the cc doesnt care and its a way to keep that separation so why change the design to be more like him? annabeth wasnt meant to be black, so why bother changing the minds vision of her, its not like shes really canonically black, why not keep depicting her white anyways?
and i guess every time ive been faced with this sort of problem ive always gravitated to just.. depicting those characters like that anyways when i can. make june transfem because fuck it, its interesting and transfem fans relate to her and have been keeping up this headcanon for ages, and its just a nice thing to do. depict terezi as fat anyways because if your style cant handle fat people then thats something you should work on, diversity shouldnt be left out of a style.
depict scar with a wheelchair and oxygen tubes anyways because disability cant just be traded out for whats easier to accomodate for and thinking about disability accomodations is good worldbuilding! wheelchair users deserve to be seen in fantasy too. make annabeth black because little black girls deserve to see themselves in a character that theyd love and admire and want to be like.
people will go on and on about projecting onto the characters they like and making all the headcanons they want, but as soon as one is made canon (in a way that isnt actively disrespectful or genuinely disingenuous to the story) or even just soft canon, people pussyfoot around and stutter and mumble and make multiple reasons about why they just Cant. or, they even just ignore it. dont think about it at all.
but iunno, i think in the case of "would doing this, and thus adding more diversity to my work, make other people happy in the same way im made happy when i see people like me in media?" with the answer being yes then.. just do it. and of course, always be careful that youre not just adding diversity for brownie points, that on some level youre thinking about how you come off and whether youre being respectful or not. but in the end i think making others happy is always a good reason to do something with your creative work

I dont know how else to say this, but fully ignoring and pretending a disabled / psychotic (coded) homeless person doesnt exist is actually evil of the people around him. I dont care how power hungry or how much of a bad person he was / Is. They knew he was there. They knew what he had gone through (to some extent). And they fully left him for dead.
Do you not think their werent points where he genuinely was so low he would have taken the help? Even if he snapped back out of it and did do something shitty, does that not mean he still doesnt deserve help? Is the take really 'Hes selfish so he doesnt deserve actual help'. Does that not sound fucking shitty at all?
Yes, hes not a good person. Yes, he can be as evil as the player allows him to be. Yes, he does bad things. But doesnt make him less of a fucking person. Being ignored and abandoned and abused is not what he should have to go through. Yeah hes stubborn, yeah he makes bad choices. But hes still a living thing. As much as his puppet like form might fool people into see him as less.
And as stated, he can only be as evil as the player let's him be. If you're being evil, hes of course gonna use that to his advantage. Hes gonna take anything he can get to get out of his shitty position and get his strings off him, get into 'heaven' or as close to it as he can. Hes clearly an extremely broken person and yes he does bad things. I'm never gonna say hes not a flawed or bad person, but hes still worthy of someone, anyone, helping him.
From canon we know none of his past friends helped him, why would anyone else in the city do so? Why would anyone else have reason to help him? All his part friends pretended like he didnt even exist. Do you know how fucked up that is? Can you imagine how fucked that would be for someone with clear delusions to have to go through? They didnt even care again till he was actually dead. That's fucking cruel. Acting like they're not bad (or at least handled the Spamton situation horribly) is laughable.
Not only that, at least one of them is ACTUALLY just as bad a person! Fully also using the snow grave route to their advantage, or at least attempting to before being put in the ring they try to sell you to kill MORE people! And knew what it would do! They had no excuse of wanting to break free of any situation or any sort of deeper reason to this that we can tell. There literal only motive is power (from what can be assumed). This doesnt make Spamton less evil in snow grave of course, but why did another addison also try to use the situation to their advantage? We know what Spamton wants or has to gain (freedom, heaven, power, control of him and possibly others, etc.) But what an ad who already seemed to be well off have to gain? And why did they have the ring in the first place?
Going back to my main point tho. Tldr: Spamton is a homeless person who shouldnt be ignored or taken less seriously just because hes not inherently 'good' or 'perfect'. Hes still a person and doesnt deserve to suffer just because people want to pretend he doesn't exist because it would be easier for them then actually trying to help him. And yes, that does make his ex friends bad when it comes to how they handled the situation. Not because they were trying to be or that they're inherently bad or evil. But Spamton is allowed to be as mad at them as he wants for how they choice to treat him.

I dont like people who say no one can ever type in a way resembling a speech impediment because its mocking a disability. Like yeah dont use it in a mocking way obviously. Dont characterize a hypothetical stupid person as having a speech impediment to somehow illustrate your point in a fake argument. But if youre using it in a normal way? Repeating words or adding mid-sentence punctuation for emphasis? I dont care? I dont care either way whether abled people do that, and maybe i shouldnt necessarily be one to speak on this as an autistic person with only mild verbal difficulties, but the thing is that you’ll never be able to differentiate between people without any sort of speech impediment/impairment/whatever and people with them via text over the internet, and so you cant really make rules that only disabled people are allowed to write the way they speak, and it bothers me a lot when people suggest that the way i speak because of my autism is so shameful that i must always mask as much as possible or else im mocking my own community. For lack of a direct description ill use an analogy, it would be like saying that i should never use written descriptions of stims for any reason, that it would be somehow ableist or at least self deprecating. But this is how i self-regulate, and this is how i express emotion. Would i use more normative body language if i could? I dont know, i cant imagine not being autistic. But im proud of the nonnormative ways i communicate, both verbally and nonverbally, because theyre mine, and i dont think theres anything wrong with being me. If i roleplay with someone over text should i make sure to tell them im making eye contact with them? Or at least not mention any sort of autistic mannerisms (how am i even supposed to know what those are?). Because if i dont appear as neurotypical and abled as i possibly can in any given medium then i must be ableist, right? Whats wrong with the way i speak? Why cant i continue to do that over text, when i guess its maybe easier for me not to? At least i can edit any sort of autisticness out. But my brain simply doesnt string words together in a neurotypical way. I. I stop midsentence and pause to think. Etc. Or, uh, or… is this mocking a stutter? Im gonna be honest, i dont have a speech “impediment”, at least not diagnosed, im just autistic, so maybe thats a completely different experience, but i do think theres some overlap, at least ive been accused of overlap. I think i should be allowed to just type things as i think them, as i would say them, without being obligated to edit to mask under threat of accusations of ableism

having disabilities is so hard because i dont want to be told its okay if i cant do things, because i dont want to admit that i cant do things, but i dont want to be told i can do things that i cant, because i cant do them and its frustrating. i dont know how i want people to talk to me about it. i dont want it acknowledged because it makes me feel lesser but i do want people to make adjustments to make things easier for me but i also dont want it to feel like i have to have it easy because im incapable of doing things. i cant move properly, i cant think coherently, i cant read very well, i cant write very well, i cant count i cant do anything physical what is there in life for me? and the hardest part of it is that its so invisible. i dont use any mobility aids, i probably should but i dont, i can walk around visibly fine even if it hurts a lot, and i dont outwardly express neurodivergent traits in an everyday context and i dont know what people think of me, because as far as theyre aware im not disabled or lying about being disabled, and it just gives me all these feelings like im not able enough to be considered able and not disabled enough to be considered disabled, and i know we shouldnt compare suffering or anything but i just dont know where i fit in, people who have it so much worse off than me achieve so much more but mentally im just so tired and physically im in so much pain

Healthy Aging: Planning for Tomorrow
Tumblr media
' So, Mama, exactly what is it like aging?"
Even as young adults go, it was an unusually insensitive inquiry. It still ranks high on my long checklist of things-I'm- not-very-proud-of. I don't recall why that inquiry was so essential to me, as this happened a lot longer ago than I care to admit.
My Mommy's action is still edged in my mind.
" Absolutely nothing actually transforms," she said, with that said unshakeable persistence that elevating four kids had infused in her. "You really feel equally as young inside. It's simply the outside that changes."
I now understand just how real those words were. Like the majority of boomers, I have a negative case of mirroritis-- the state of shock that embeds in when you search in the mirror, and also the person looking back is not the one intended to be there. Ah indeed, the pleasures of aging.
But as I have actually come to discover with time, the glass isn't always half empty. Yes, the problem is that your body maintains changing-- non-stop, as well as in weird and also unpredictable means. The bright side is just what my Mama as long earlier prophesied: You do not feel any older. You begin to experience just what the yoga tradition has actually long held: There is an ageless aspect to our mind, our spirit-- the component of us that stays the exact same, even when the scenarios of our life, including the body, change.
When it involves the aging of our body, that component of eternity exists as a component of selection. Just how rapidly we age, as well as how we age, is not simply delegated Father Time. Research on the health and wellness beneifts of diet regimen, exercise, as well as yes, yoga treatment, all tell us that our long-lasting wellness as well as long life is linked to our day-to-day way of life. Something as apparently straightforward as the foods you consume, what does it cost? you exercise you obtain, just how well you handle tension, as well as the balance of remainder as well as activity in your life effect not only how much time you live, but exactly how healthy and balanced you remain as you get older.
The equation is basic, all various other things equal, healthy and balanced way of living practices = healthy and balanced aging. Excellent way of life practices like routine exericse, eating a healthy diet, as well as anxiety management minimize your risk of acquiring some of the most typical age-related chronic conditions, consisting of cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, as well as cancer. As a matter of fact, lifestyle factors play as much of a function in identifying your longterm wellness as where your ball landed in the fickle roulette of hereditary makeup, possibly also better. Taking on even more healthy and balanced consuming, workout, or stress and anxiety administration practices can also turn around significant condition, such heart disease.
This is a simple fact, and also we have heard all of it before, possibly ad nauseum. Yet if you believe about it, the effects are quite remarkable. It indicates that-- all other things even-- we have an incredible quantity of option in how we feel as we age and also how healthy we'll be as we age. Where we finish up on the normal curve of health and well-being versus condition as well as disability is to a huge degree under our control, disallowing, certainly, the treatment of fate.
We invest a fantastic years preparing for retired life and placing loan apart so we can live a comfortable and also safe and secure life in our old age. Yet, when it involves preparing for our lasting health and vigor, the majority of us expend much less time and also effort. Actually so, because without health and wellness, planning for an economically comfortable retired life is a waste.
Changing way of life practices is not a very easy thing to do. At finest, it acts as another unpleasant reminder that the speed of life is too quick as well as there is inadequate time to do way too many things. At worst, it places us deal with to encounter with our individual devils-- simply believe of the emotional toll of skipping that tasty item of pie to stay streamlined and slender.
So really, that has to include more do's and also do n'ts, should's as well as shouldnt's to our currently jammed timetable? And also is it really going to make a distinction anyway?
As my younger sibling wryly commented when I at 18 years-old ended up being a vegetarian and began sermonizing about the merits of healthy consuming to everyone within range: "However Sis, exactly what will occur if you obtain struck by an auto later in life as well as compressed to a pulp? Then it will all have been for nothing!"
He enjoyed graphic detail as younger bros are inclined to. As well as he was, as all big sisters know that younger bros are similarly proper to, missing the point. Taking on extra healthy practices does make a large distinction, And also not just 10, twenty years, thirty years right into the future. Living a healthy and balanced way of life is really regarding how you really feel currently as well as everyday from currently on. Exactly how fresh you are when you awaken in the morning, just how much power as well as excitement you have throughout the day, exactly how well you really feel within as well as consequently, what does it cost? love you have the ability to present on your loved ones.
And therein lies the trick. The little actions-- gettomg a routine yoga exercise method in, remaining free from the transfats, cutting out the doughnut in the morning, eating your day-to-day 5-8 portions of fruits and veggies, taking that ten-minute stroll during the night, getting to bed just a little earlier-- include up to a lot with time. As you begin to experience the distinction these things make in your life, it comes to be much easier as well as less complicated to keep up those modifications and include more over time.
Planning for a healthy and balanced tomorrow is simply that-- like saving a little loan continually each year, continually readjusting your health practices with time. Hold your horses and compassionate with yourself-- and established small goals. The little success, like dimes in a piggy financial institution, amount to big changes over time.

What is commander’s spirit?
The rules of commander are available here:
https://mtgcommander.net/index.php/rules/
You can find the philosophy document here:
https://mtgcommander.net/index.php/the-philosophy-of-commander/
Additional quotes are from a few of Sheldon's articles:
http://www.starcitygames.com/articles/38858_The-Latest-Commander-Philosophy-And-Banned-List-Update.html
http://www.starcitygames.com/articles/38648_Thinking-About-Thinking-About-Commander.html
http://www.starcitygames.com/articles/37865_Commander-Cards-You-Shouldnt-Play.html
Rules
The format's rules already give us a rough idea of its spirit. The life total is twice as high as in tournament formats, meaning it's probably intended to have longer, more drawn-out games where more things happen and high-cost/less-efficient cards can still be played. Each deck has one(or more) commander(s), a special card in a different zone that restricts your deckbuilding, meaning it's much easier to build around a theme and personalize your deck. Commander is singleton, therefore there will be higher variance and less consistency, which leads to many more unique boardstates and interesting plays. Repetitive gameplay is not intended. Commander is a multiplayer format as well and every single player will win fewer games on average than in a two-player format; you have to be ready to lose a lot of games. Having multiple players enables 'politics', for example, in-game deals, truces, and manipulation of other players to help win the game. Therefore, commander games can not be won via skill alone and social aspects can't be ignored. I think we can conclude from this, that winning the game through magic skill and deckbuilding prowess can't be the primary focus when playing commander in its intended way. If you're looking for games where you can prove how good a player/deck builder you are, many commander games will not be for you, and you should clearly state that you're looking for this kind of game before you sit down to play, or there will be players at the table who'll be unhappy after the game.
With the rules' guidance we can formulate statements on the spirit of the format:
1) Games will/should take some time
2) Themes in deckbuilding are encouraged
3) Winning is not the primary goal
Philosophy
Now, let's examine what the official philosophy document says about the format's goals and what the RC, mostly through Sheldon Menery’s articles, has added to that, so we can derive the intended experience, which the format wants to offer:
"Commander is for fun. It's a socially interactive, multiplayer Magic: the Gathering format full of wild interactions and epic plays, specifically designed as an alternative to tournament Magic. [...] Commander focuses on a resonant experience. Each game is a journey the players share, relying on a social contract in which each player is considerate of the experiences of everyone involved--this promotes player interaction, inter-game variance, a variety of play styles, and a positive communal atmosphere. At the end of an ideal Commander game, someone will have won, but all participants will have had the opportunity to express themselves through their deck building and game play."
As an alternative to tournament magic and with a philosophy as a basic part of its rules, the commander format is a format but it's more than that.
"Commander is also an ideal [...] It's a place where fun is encouraged, and not just fun for yourself, but everyone involved."
It is a way to play and enjoy magic, where each game tries to be as memorable and fun as possible; optimally, every commander game will produce a unique, memorable story.
"Commander is created to create the best possible social experience"
Meaning, each player's experience matters, and actively working together to make sure everyone has a great time is necessary.
Commander could be described as a social exercise where, in the framework of a game of magic, players have to figure out how to make sure that all of them have a great time, although they all have different expectations and goals. Solving this social puzzle will make your games much more enjoyable but it will also make you be a better person in life, as you need to develop empathy and mindfulness along with honest communication with others to succeed in this.
So far, I'd summarize as:
'The spirit of the commander format is to foster a play environment where the chance of feeling that one participated in the game in a meaningful and satisfying way, regardless of the game's outcome, is as high as possible for each player at the table'
This means each player got the experience they wanted and they had the time and resources available in the game to achieve this, while not disabling others from doing the same thing.
“The rules of Commander are designed to maximize these experiences within a game of Magic. The addition of a commander, larger life total, and deck building restrictions emphasize the format's flavor; they increase deck variance and add more opportunities for participation and expression.“
As I stated when looking at the rules, themes are highly encouraged, and in contrary to competitive formats, are a viable way to build decks. Deck variance is another great thing, as it makes sure that games play out differently and gameplans aren’t too linear and repetitive, which is a style that seems to be discouraged.
Themed decks, social interaction and high variance in gameplay turn this into a format that is excellent for generating stories that everyone wants to remember and share and many players will focus on narrative equity, meaning taking actions that actively try to generate more and crazier stories.
So commander could as well be described as a place where amazing stories about games of magic are born, and it is comparable to tabletop RPGs where everyone works together to create a lasting memory. It is a journey that players go on and they have to cooperate to reach the desired destination.
"Commander is designed to be a malleable format. We encourage groups to use the rules and the ban list as a baseline to optimize their own experience. This is not a license for an individual to force their vision onto a play group, but encouragement for players to discuss their goals and how the rules might be adjusted to suit those goals. The format can be broken; we believe games are more fun if you don't."
As we concluded, commander is more a way of playing and enjoying magic than it is a format with hard rules and restrictions, and therefore it can be customized to fit players' needs and wishes. The last line is one of the most important ones in the document. It says that you can act well within the rules while still breaking the format. There is a huge difference between the letter of the law and the spirit of the law and for commander specifically, this is a feature rather than a bug. Breaking the format here could mean two things:
Building the most broken and effective decks possible, which is what most would say is what cEDH is about, or breaking the social contract, ignoring its spirit and not caring about the other players.
cEDH is a viable way to play commander, but as stated in the philosophy document, not what most players are looking for. As long as everyone is on the same page, it is an enjoyable way to play, but it should not be played along non-cEDH decks and players, because both sides will have an experience which is unexpected and unwanted.
As for breaking the social contract, it should be obvious that this is problematic for the other players' experience. This can come in many forms, for example:
- lying about your deck's power level/gameplan/your intended experience
- unwillingness to communicate and cooperate with other players before the game
- unwillingness to try to evaluate one's decks' impact on others
- actively trying to make the game less fun for others
-preventing other players from meaningfully participating in the game
If you don't break the social contract, everyone will have more fun, so please try not to.
The spirit of commander
In conclusion, an optimal game in the spirit of commander could be described as:
‘All players are actively working together to create a game in which each of them can meaningfully participate and everyone gets to experience what they were looking for so, in the end, each player had fun and can take away a lasting, enjoyable memory’
Just ask yourself after a game: 'Do I want to remember this game and do the other players as well?' and if the answer is 'Yes, we all do' then you have succeeded in playing a game which is fully in the spirit of the format.
Not every game can be like this, but every game should be approached with this in mind

Accessible Stall Discourse
I've seen a LOT of posts about this topic so I thought that I'd join in :) (short tldr at the bottom) (also I'm autistic and hypermobile as a background for this post)
I've seen posts calling out able bodied people for using the accessible bathroom stall and I've seen people posting their own reasons why they need to use the stall even though they "look able bodied" but all the posts have in common that there seems to be general exceptions but nobody talks about what they are/could be (and I've seen anons asking "oh but I'm autistic and I want to use the stall for x specific reasons...so I'm not allowed??" to which the blog responds "oh yeah well you have a reason I just meant in general")
I think as a general statement, anyone should be allowed to use the accessible stall, BUT priority should always go to the person who needs it most. If you don't need it, don't use it because you never know if someone who needs it will come in after you.
There are some obvious reasons why someone needs the accessible stall:
They are in a wheelchair and need the larger space to move around and also park their chair while using the toilet
They have a walker/other mobility aid that literally won't fit in smaller stall
There's also more invisible reasons why someone needs the accessible stall, though. You can't just judge someone based on the fact they don't have a wheelchair/walker
The person has bad knees/legs and needs the bar in order to stand up (and also sit down)
The person has a cane (ik this is easy to spot but still) and it's cumbersome to deal with in a smaller stall
The person has bad knees/legs/is just tall and needs the higher toilet than the short toilets in the smaller stalls (don't you dare say different toilet heights in the same bathroom don't exist bc they DO and I don't understand WHY)
The person is claustrophobic
The person is having a panic attack and needs a safe larger space to pace/not feel trapped/lean against the wall in private
The person needs to stim (body stims like flapping) and can't do that in a small stall
This isn't a complete list, of course, but just as an idea that there's a bunch of different reasons why someone could be using the larger stall because of their disability
Now, for some reasons that AREN'T disability related but are still totally valid:
Biggest reason: There's no other stall available
Sub point: in the men's bathroom sometimes there's literally Only urinals (like 10 of them) and one (1) ONE stall and it's the accessible one. Obviously that means nobody but disabled people have to poop 🙄
Sometimes there's only two (2) stalls and the only one open is the accessible one
Sometimes there's like 10 stalls but they are All occupied and the first one that opens is the accessible one
You have a giant bag that won't fit in the smaller stall
Now it seems to be a bit different but growing up, but the ONLY stall that had a bag hook on the door was the accessible ones (yes I'm talking bout the women's stalls, the men's ones just never heard of a bag hook anywhere). So if you had any type of bag that was a personal fuck you
You have to change your clothes
You're overheating/stressed and don't want to be in a cramped little stall to chill for a few minutes
It's the only stall with those paper toilet seat covers that some people use (yes its a thing that only that stall has them in some places)
It's the only stall with with a baby changer table (why is it in the stall??? Put it outside??? But God forbid we see a naked baby???)
ALL the other stalls don't have locks (or sometimes even doors)
You're trans and you'd rather not be imediately next to the other person (like if the toilets are actually separated moreso than the others or you wanna skip a stall to have one in between you and the other person, etc)
Again, totally not a comprehensive list, but as you can see you can easily "need" the stall and not have a disability. We can refer to this as wanting the stall, or just preferring it.
BUT, before y'all make any angry comments about "well abled bodied people use it anyways and are assholes" I totally agree with that and that's why......
List of reasons why you shouldnt use the accessible stall:
You feel like it with no other reason
There's a person with a physical/obvious disability waiting for a stall behind you
There's like,,,, all other stalls open
Tldr: if you have a justifiable reason for needing (or wanting in the case where using the stall is just an easier route), then you are allowed to use the accessible stall.
That being said, if you don't have a physical disability and don't need to use the accessible stall (aka are the "it's just easier for me"), please don't spend forever in the stall in case someone who does absolutely need that stall comes in and you're in there.
If you need it, you need it 👌
If you want it, hurry up 👍
If you don't need it, get out 👎

Bunny I’m having a bad day. My fucked up wrist is being all kinds of extra and my prof is being a dick abt my final with my accommodations for my disability (I have severe anxiety so I get help with dat) and I already scheduled one. So now I either have to be at school at 8 am and rush one test or Miss work if I move it to two. And I really just want to cry I hurt and I’m frustrated
Tumblr media
Awe honey my goodness, your day sounds very crummy indeed💔💔 are there any techniques you know to help with your wrist, or somethings that can help you distract from the pain? And your professor doesnt sound very nice, he shouldnt be ridiculing or being rude to you about your accommodations, those are in your rights as a student and should never be looked down upon or said anything nasty about so!
But goodness, well, which would be easier for you nonny? Would it be easier for you(both physically and mentally) to take the 8am one or the 2pm one? Because I'm sure your boss would understand academic related time off if you were to tell them, your mental and physical health is the main priority in this, so, you do which you feel safer and what isnt as stressful for you, okay?
And it is perfectly okay to cry!! You are going through some troubling and stressful things right now, you are not weak for crying, in fact crying helps! It relivate stress and gets that ick brain pressure gone. So if you feel like you need to cry you go right ahead,  there is nothing wrong with doing so, especially with these frustrating thing♡
Whatever you choose to do nonny, it will all work out in the end, take a deep breath, it might be hard and stressful right now but, take a breather for a moment, do something that makes you happy (even if it's watching a silly cat video) whatever can ground you. I believe in you and am here for you 100%❤❤🌻

Since then, Skype has become a perpetual thorn in the sides of those wish to remain not only anonymous but attain some semblance of privacy. __References:__ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skype ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ===Why Skype Shouldn’t be Used=== Even if you’re not a fan of Stallman’s, anyone who’s concerned with privacy and security knows that the bearded one is someone to listen to from time-to-time. On one such occasion, it’s best to listen to the man when it comes to discussion of Skype’s horrendous behavior with the user’s information. His interjections aside, he does make several points, which you can read below. • Skype refuses to say whether it can eavesdrop on calls. That almost certainly means it can do so. • Skype gave personal data about a Wikileaks supporter to another company without any legal obligation to do so. • Skype churns the meaning of preference settings, and gives its users a run-around when someone cheats them. • Microsoft has changed Skype to make it easier for states to snoop on users. • Skype messages are not encrypted for the whole trip: Microsoft can read them. And Microsoft does read them. Those reasons alone will trigger a heightened response from the most paranoid privacy enthusiasts; however the layman and those who think they’ve nothing to worry about won’t give second thought to those issues. Though, knowing that a regular person with no real power can obtain several pieces of their information should be enough to put a burn into several bellies. Many people have written articles about Skype, like this one from Eric Martindale (https://www.ericmartindale.com/2013/02/07/why-i-dont-use-skype-and-why-you-shouldnt-either). It goes into details about Skype continuously sending encrypted traffic, snooping and even hindering activists and rebellions in non-Western countries. Of course, that’s just more technical mumbo jump. Not many care if people discuss several points of Skype’s lack privacy or malicious ADs. And honestly, why should you care when it’s so easy to just ignore the problem and buy a new computer or hire someone to fix the issue? Well… anyone can happen upon your information and use it to gain access to your other accounts or information. It’s as simple searching Skype with usernames or an e-mail addressed. Actually, it’s quite easy using any one of the numerous Skype resolvers out there or Skype bots that offer anything from checking for your e-mail address to your IP or even your avatars and a copy of your profile. This may not seem like much, however in the right hands it can lead to a nasty little surprise, like being doxed or someone using the information to use a Skype convo generator to fake you chatting with someone or saying things you’ve said. ***This is why you should fear Skype:*** It can be used against you and ruin anything you’ve planned or built. __References:__ https://stallman.org/skype.html http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_tense/2012/07/20/skype_won_t_comment_on_whether_it_can_now_eavesdrop_on_conversations_.html http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_tense/2012/11/09/skype_gave_data_on_a_teen_wikileaks_supporter_to_a_private_company_without.html http://www.nnsquad.org/archives/nnsquad/msg07079.html http://arstechnica.com/security/2013/05/think-your-skype-messages-get-end-to-end-encryption-think-again/ http://fossforce.com/2013/05/microsoft-snoops-in-skype-dissed-by-hp-more/ https://www.theguardian.com/world/2013/jul/11/microsoft-nsa-collaboration-user-data https://muchweb.me/why-you-shouldnt-use-skype https://www.grahamcluley.com/2016/02/skype-ads-angler-exploit-kit/ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ===In Case You Need Skype…=== Now before we introduce you to a lovely alternative to Skype, we should explain, just in case of school or work, how to secure your Skype account and retain just a tiny bit of privacy and security. This won’t make you 100% secure or anonymous, nor will it stop Mr.NSA agent from spying on you. However it’ll put a clamper into several works of any normal, non-government, person and their attempts at gaining your information. First off, let’s make it simple and start with the easiest settings and work our way down. You'll want to set these exactly, as they'll help you still use Skype but lessen the overall data you give out. Tools > Options > General > General Settings: The below settings are set for the purpose of decongesting startup and lessening the resource Skype originally eats up when you boot Windows. • Everything disabled/unchecked • Tick/enable "profile pictures" Tools > Options > General > Video Settings: The purpose for thise is to prevent automatic sharing of screens and video. Several bots have been known to add people and quickly ask for screen sharing or video-chat to record or whatever, it's very rare but still a concern. This just ensures you're notified and forced to allow or disallow invites. • Select "No one" Tools > Options > General > Skype WiFi: In general, it's good practice to avoid the use of WiFi. It's even better to avoid using Skype on your mobile phone/smartphone. • Disable/untick everything Tools > Options > General > Skype Translator: Less stuff for Skype to use against you, also uses less resources. • Disable/untick everything Tools > Options > Privacy > Privacy settings: Ensure you've selected "Advanced Options". • People in my contact list only • No one • People in my contact list only • Drop down > No history • Last two unchecked/disabled Tools > Options > Calls > Call Settings: Forces you to ensure you don't allow calls from just anyone, other than that it's just more secure this way. • People in my contact list only • Show call controlls when Skype is in the background • Untick/disable everything else Tools > Options > Calls > Video Settings: Just another precautionary tweak. • No one Tools > Options > IM & SMS > IM settings: Cleaner look, less data grabbed in case your rig or profile's grabbed. • People in my contact list only • Dropdrown menu > no history • Open a new window when I receive a new message in split window view • Quote copied messages • Send message • Untick/disable "show when I am typing" • Choose a folder to save the file in every time Tools > Options > IM & SMS > IM appearance: Cleaner look, less data grabbed in case your rig or profile's grabbed. • Untick/disable compact chat view • Tick/enable Show images and other media previews • Tick/enable show link previews • Everything else is unticked/disabled Tools > Options > Advanced > Advanced settings: Meat & potatoes here. • Untick/disable everything Tools > Options > Advanced > Automatic updates: Never let anything automatically uptate. • Ensure it's disabled Tools > Options > Advanced > Connections: Don't use TOR with skype, as it's unwise to do so besides being unsafe. This is due to Microsoft's Skype having control over the encryption keys and not the user. This means they can decrypt and encrypt regardless of what you wish to accomplish, ergo ruining anything you plan or discuss and making it an open book for the government or anyone willing to flash enough cash. It's also dangerous due to skype block certain exit relays, which could potentially lead to your IP being leaked. If you really need to hipe your IP while using Skype, invest in a VPN to use. This will help you lessen the risk of your IP being leaked without increase your risk of being flagged by Microsoft. Now, you’re not protected, in the slightest, however you’re not naked either. It’s like finding and putting on a pair of boxer shorts when you’ve nothing else to protect you during a violent, highly acidic rain of pain and even greater pain. It helps, albeit in a minuscule amount. It won’t protect you 100% from resolvers or bots, yet it’s better than nothing. Before you continue any further, we’ve a few more things to  do to further help you lock down your profile and prevent as much data leakage as possible when it comes to using Skype. Now, before we proceed, ***I’d like to remind you:*** Skype’s bad. Click your avatar (circular image) or select Skype > Profile > Edit Profile, or simply just CTRL + I it Your username should be one that you’ve used nowhere else. Your nick/nick-name shouldn’t be related to you, at all, and has been used nowhere else. None of those two should be related to you, at all, in the real world. Your mood/quote shouldn’t exist or be something random and not related to you, at all, in the real world. Your avatar should be randomized or, at the very least, a smug anime girl to upset people. Phone numbers should never be posted on the internet or insert into your Skype. The same applies for e-mall addresses, except for the one you’ve used to create the account. That e-mail address shouldn’t be used for anything other than Skype and nothing else. All settings should be set to either “Contacts” or “Private”. Everything here should be either left blank, purposely false (different gender, timezone, b-date…etc) and set to either “Private” or “Contacts” to ensure no-one can learn of your information or try to learn of your information. This, again, will help hinder anyone from truly being able to use anything against you; however the government has better toys than some hobbled together resolver or a slightly modified bot. ***Again, avoid Skype, if possible.*** It’s also best to mention that, for the sake of covering all bases, that you can block ADs and do some slight modifications to Skype to make it less of a resource hog and potential malware bomb. It’s quite simple and easy to do. First off, depending on your version of Windows, simply do the following: Go to control panel > internet options Or Control panel > Network and Internet > Internet options From there, search for the security tab. Select, from there, the “Restricted sites” option and open the “Sites” dialog with the button indicated. Add these two sites to the blocked websites: apps.skype.com & g.msn.com Now you shouldn’t see any Ads, however that doesn’t mean Microsoft won’t add any new AD networks. Please look into our “Host Files” guide @ our Library (https/www.paranoidsbible.tumblr.com/library) located on our blog. We also wish to remind you that you shouldn’t ever accept anyone’s friend’s request unless you know who it is and can trust them. Block all non-trusted requests and accounts. Take the initiative and look online for a bot block-list. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure when it comes to trying to use Skype and remain secure. If you wish to abandon Skype, ensure everything’s blanked out or replaced with a single character (+, _, =, -…etc). It’s also wise to put a simple white image up as your avatar, too, and block and delete everyone from the account. Never access the account, unless you wish to waste an hour, each day, for a week to flush your IP out and replace it with a random proxy or VPN to ensure nothing ties you any longer to the account. Never log into the account again, once you’ve abandon it. Let it sit and rot, it’ll fade into obscurity soon enough. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ===Use TOX, Be Secure=== The best way to explain Tox is as if it was a person. Tox, to be precise, is the athletically built, 10/10, drop-dead-gorgeous, blond hair, blue eyed cousin of Skype. Whereas Skype is a bloated, trend-following piece of crap that believes outward appearance, regardless of size, is all that’s need to appease their user. Simply put: Tox doesn’t have the idiotic “aesthetics” and useless bloat. It’s just what it says on the box, thus far. TOX is a P2P instant messaging and video calling protocol that offers end-to-end encryption.  All traffic is encrypted using the NaCl library, which provides authenticated encryption, perfect forward secrecy and no surprise visits from the FBI, yet. Tox is quite simple and easy to use. The FAQs (https://tox.chat/faq.html) alone should have you withering in orgasmic pleasure by knowing just how secure you are when compared to Skype. Just look at the below! • Removing the need to rely on central authorities to provide messenger services • Concealing your identity (in the form of meta-data, e.g. your IP address) from people who are not your authorized friends • Enforcing end-to-end encryption with perfect forward secrecy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forward_secrecy) as the default and only mode of operation for all messages • Making your identity impossible to forge without the possession of your personal private key, which never leaves your computer Seriously, we would like you to give the FAQ page a read. It goes into great details of why TOX is simply better than Skype. It’s near impossible for anyone to hijack or mess with your account. And, when using TOR and TOX, there’s near nothing anyone can do to trace you or your messages (as long as your rig’s clean and secure). There’s no need for an e-mail address or complicated signup. You just need to choose and download the flavor of TOX you want for your operating system, create a new account and start adding your friends. From there, it’s simple OPSEC and not adding people at random. No history is saved, it’s ready out of the box and if you want, you can monkey around with it however you wish. There’s nothing else you need. TOX does it all, so far. Unless, of course, you want to modify the settings in-program, like disabling that annoying typing feature that alerts people to when you’re typing or not. They even have a series of How-Tos already available for you, so there’s also that. The only drawback is the simple fact that if your rig fries, so does your profile and list of friends. So keep a list handy on a USB of your friends’ keys just in case. __References:__ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tox_(protocol) https://wiki.tox.chat/users/tox_over_tor_tot https://tox.chat/download.html https://wiki.tox.chat/users/howtos ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ===Afterword=== This is probably one of our more lazily written guides, however since some people kept requesting it we decided to crank it out as quickly as possible. Like all work edits, content’s there, just not beautified or aesthetically pleasing, yet... Enjoy and get off of Skype!

also my version fo a week and others versions of a week are extremely different, i count inactive blogs as blogs gone a year or so. [[ this is kinda rambly and piecemeal and out of order since its an edited convo off of discord from before cy’s heart got replaced, but i decided i wanted this Extra Large thalassemia infodump on my blog. go read this primer first for basic info on thal; cyrus’s form is beta thalassemia major. ]]
even with a perfectly healthy and functional heart, cy'd still have a too fast pulse and likely have arrhythmias; that comes with the territory of his anemia, and he could still develop heart failure again later in life. the problem with cy's current heart is that its been scarred to shit by the extra iron in his body from his blood transfusions and hes developed cardiomyopathy as a result, which at this point is virtually guaranteed to kill him before he turns 30, even if he takes perfect care of himself and never develops any other complications from his thalassemia ever (which aint fuckin likely). this failing heart just deals worse with arrhythmias he already has, especially under stress, and already struggles to keep up enough blood pressure.
bone marrow transplants are currently the closest thing to a cure for thalassemia we have and hellll no he has not had that done i doubt hes even on a waiting list. with his shit in the state hes in, its questionable if he'd even survive the process its pretty intense, nevermind the finances and healing and finding a match and even so much as qualifying to have it done.
cyrus goes in for a blood transfusion every three weeks. when transfusion dates get close, within a few days, hes more tired; he doesnt go out; he can be moodier; he can get headaches and dizzy spells. he feels best after a transfusion, then its just a slow decline till the date rolls around again. i tend to rp him within a week or two of being transfused most of the time simply bc its easier to get him out there interacting with people.
sometimes they coincide with transfusion dates, sometimes they don't, but he has longer appointments to check up on his other bodily functions every so often. theres general stuff, looking at his counts, then more specialized appointments to keep an eye specifically on his heart or check up on his liver and other organs as needed.
thalassemia by itself kills a person through not having enough blood to get oxygen around the body; this is solved through blood transfusions. chronic anemia means chronic transfusions. which would be fine! except chronic transfusions cause a build-up of iron in the body, and that shit is toxic and where the more fatal complications tend to stem from for thalassemia patients. also, being anemic means your body thinks it needs iron, so it's prone to absorb more from food than the average person, an added bonus. consequently, there are certain foods cyrus avoids. legumes, dark leafy greens, etc. look up any list of iron-rich foods, and thats a list of shit cyrus ought to be avoiding or indulging rarely. (funnily enough, these lists also are often advertised towards anemic people because those who arent transfused have the opposite problem.) part of his tea drinking habit is because tea inhibits iron absorption, along with he just likes it. coffee works too and he doesnt object to it, but he prefers tea.
another consequence of chronic transfusions is that you end up with a lot of old shitty dead blood cells in your system, and your spleen is left to clean it up. unfortunately, when faced with that much to clean, it can enlarge (splenomegaly) and become overactive (hypersplenism). so it starts removing healthy blood cells too quickly and too early, which can cause the anemic patient to need more blood when being transfused, which risks more iron, and not to mention its generally uncomfortable for the patient with the enlarged spleen. in short, this happened to cyrus, so his spleen has been removed. spleens, however, also play an important role in the immune system, so he was already kinda vulnerable as an anemic, but having no spleen makes him doubly at risk of infections. he takes antibiotics as part of his daily pharmaceutical regime.
during cold and flu season, docs tend to strongly suggest he wear surgical masks during school and whenever hes around a lot of people in public places, but he almost never does. he doesnt like the attention it gets him esp in school, but sometimes he'll do it when hes on public transit or anything. he does carry hand sanitizer with him a lot of the time tho
bc his immune system is fragile, he often goes in-patient for what would be minor sicknesses for us, esp if theres a fever. he tends to be hit hard by them, and being sick can make his counts plummet as his body tries to fight off the disease.
coming back around to iron related bullshit, iron overload is treated by iron chelation, for which there are mainly two medicines, deferoxamine and deferasirox, and cyrus uses the latter because i have never been able to find out enough goddamn information about deferoxamine. deferoxamine is the more common and cheaper of the two medicines; its injected subcutaneously over the course of 8-12 hours and has its own list of side effects and the process itself tends to be kinda painful from the accounts ive read. its done at home, often while the patient sleeps bc... well, when else are you gonna get a child to sit still for 8-12 hours. its definitely the one cyrus was on for a while, when he was younger. bc ive had a hellish time finding info on the pump used for deferoxamine and more about that medicine generally, cy’s currently on deferasirox. slightly different side effects, but otherwise does the same job in pill form.
thalassemia patients who've been cared for properly should be healthier than cyrus is. most patients his age havent had a heart attack already and arent dealing with heart failure, not yet. his parents have always struggled financially to keep up with his medical bills, but there was a time when he was still young that they still thought they could manage if they just worked hard enough. they were too proud to accept help, and he suffered for it. they eventually gave in but even then still struggled to keep up. sometimes a sudden unexpected change in insurance policy would fuck em for a while finanacially. so sometimes they'd not fill a perscription for a while or wait longer than they should to take him in-patient, hoping he might just tough out a cold or smth. sometimes he'd manage to do that and have abysmal blood counts next time he went in, and a couple of times he got so sick he was legit on death's doorstep by the time he got to the hospital and needed way longer to recover. sometimes cyrus would be too fussy about the deferoxamine and they didnt have the energy that night to force him to accept it or he'd turn off the machine himself after they left. not too often, he was pretty good about just accepting it and did most of the time, but it def happened more than a few times. and if it had already been activated, they couldnt reuse it and had to throw the dose out, in which case that was it he skips it no replacement they cant afford it not in the budget.
and because the effects of iron overload are long-term ones for the most part, it was easy to be like "ehh he seems fine for now". like, they knew the risks, but it was hard to see them as anything but so far in the distance as to be irrelevant. cyrus himself isnt great about the whole self-care thing either; his depression has helped nothing. he's been known to just flush or toss pills in a small spiteful act of rebellion, all his parents care about is that hes still alive and their money, and medicine's expensive, so wouldnt it just piss em off to throw it all away. he'll eat foods he shouldnt for similar reasons, along with just the pleasure of it. and sometimes he hits the sort of suicidal low where he just.... doesnt see the point. each dose he takes is a choice to keep living, and sometimes that choice isnt one he wants to make.
no one quite realized how bad he was tho till his first heart attack. he was so young; the docs dont rly know when hes skipping, so they werent watching too closely for the effects of it. and the damage his body took over time was amplified by his frequent stress. the heart and liver are the ones most affected by iron overload; his liver is somewhat damaged too, but thats not too bad yet, not as bad as his heart.
other little thal things: hormone levels can get super fucked. cy's puberty was a bit delayed, and his testosterone levels remain kinda low compared to average, so hes not as hairy as his genetics might otherwise dictate. he will never be able to grow a proper beard; it'll always be way too patchy and uneven. and despite what his touch aversion and other factors like stress and said low testosterone might lead you to believe, hes got a pretty strong sex drive, though he suppresses the hell out of it.
he was homeschooled for his first few years of elementary bc health concerns, but that couldnt be sustained bc of cost. so he rejoined public school since then. i wouldnt be surprised if his peers used his puberty delays against him, but i'd expect they were making fun of him less bc he was a late bloomer and more at his general girlishness, esp since this would also be around the time he was growing out his hair.
he has had people do the "lookit me ive befriended the sad disabled kid arent i good <3" schtick (which esp pisses him off bc its similar to shit melinda pulls) and hes met the people who try to be nice to him for three days then turn a 180 on him when he doesnt immediately cheer up and get all buddy buddy with them. and hence he now treats kindness from strangers with extreme skepticism, suspicion, and aggression. (thomas also feeds into this but ye) it scares off plenty of legitimately nice people who he could have befriended, buuut.
Oh, a couple Fun Facts I forgot to mention. bc anemia, he bruises easy and injuries generally take longer than normal to heal. And in part bc depression and in part bc meds are prone to fucking with his appetite, either killing it entirely or just making him nauseated, he tends to not eat enough and is kind of underweight. Melinda put him in charge of dinner most nights as part of a genuine good faith effort to ensure he's getting at least one good meal and get him home when he's supposed to be.

Read Some Easy Tips For HVAC Advice That Shouldn’t Be Missed
Lots of homes have HVAC units in their houses. An HVAC unit that helps keep your home’s temperature comfortable for you throughout the year. You will generally need a professional to install it and maintain it. Read on to learn about HVAC systems.
If your HVAC system is acting up, check things out yourself prior to calling in a technician. This will help the repairman determine where the problem is.
Clean your condenser’s fan and coils each spring to ensure that your condenser fan operates at it’s best.Clean the outdoor condenser unit regularly.
Clean any debris that accumulates on your condenser units. Debris can pile up after a storm, and this can foul up the inner workings of your system. It can cause a disaster with your system to malfunction by overheating.
Turn the power off first so nothing moves. Then, pop off its grills, pull the blades out, and gently clean them as well as the unit itself.
TIP! Know what work you want done before you select an HVAC contractor. You might not be able to get a price quote unless you let the contractor see your current system first.
Lubricate your condenser once a year. You can find these ports covered with rubber or metal cap covering them. Use a lightweight, and put 10 drops or fewer in each port, but make sure to avoid overfilling them.
Turn off outdoor condenser units when it becomes cold out. This means that you should be done when the temperature drops below 60ºF to avoid damage. This can keep your system working for years without the cost of repairs.
A programmable thermostat is a simple way to help you save money on your air conditioning bill. Some can even be controlled from your smart phone or computer.
TIP! To make sure your condenser fan works properly, keep the fan blades and the coils clean. Always make sure you shut off the power before you do any work on the unit other than superficial cleaning.
Air conditioners tend to ice up.The drain line might also freeze up.If this is something that’s happening to you, switch the thermostat in your home to fan only so the compressor is disabled. You can call a HVAC professional, even if switching it to its fan setting starts making the ice melt.
Look for calculators online to truly understand what size of unit you need for your room or home.Look at the manual to determine the manufacturer website for this information.
There are many sites that other customers share their experiences with different services. This method provides you want to hire and also with and those you don’t want to work with.
TIP! The coils and blades on the fans should be cleaned once a year. Turn it off first so you don’t get hurt or break something.
Figure out which direction your home is facing so your HVAC system can work better. The less your home is heated, the easier time the air conditioner in your home will have.
If your HVAC system is producing any type of clicking sounds, look immediately to see if there is an obstruction. Often the issue is some sort of debris that’s hitting fans in your cooling system. Look carefully at the system before you call up a service technician.
Clearly, some ways exist to aid you in dealing with contractors and HVAC units. It is critical that the unit receives proper installation and that it is maintained correctly. Put this advice to good use so that you have minimal issues in the future.
