You hear the window open loudly, it's so loud that you fear the glass might've shattered, you lean forward on the armchair to take a peek.

You see Hobie still in his suit, his mask thrown behind him in a fit. His face scowls at your lap, but you know his anger isn't towards you at all. Quickly putting the book on the table next to you before he squishes it, you raise your arms to meet him halfway.

Hobie huffs while he practically throws himself on your lap, taking both your arms to securely hold him like his personal seatbelt. His entire weight is on top of you, but you don't mind as you embrace him tighter, pecking his temple in an attempt to smoothen his scowl.

“Legs” he taps your knee, with one word, you already know what he wants.

You part your thighs so he could sit on the chair but still technically sitting on your lap. Hobie swivels around, his long legs dangling off the arm rest, his face resting comfortably on your chest.

Your arm serves as his own back pillow, hand resting on his pec, knuckles rubbing to calm his racing heart. Your other hand is slowly but surely unlacing his shoelaces, one ribbon at a time.

“Feeling better?” You softly say while he plays with the hem of your old t-shirt.

“A bit” he says it with clenched teeth.

You tap his jaw once so he remembers to unclench it. He sighs, you feel his face relax over your chest.

Unlacing his right boot, you put your hand over his ear to shield it from the loud falling sound of his boot landing on the hardwood floors. He grunts, his way of saying thank you.

His socked toes wiggle about as his feet are now free from the heavy boots. He visibly relaxes, his shoulders drooping, head laying fully on your chest. Hobie drops his hand from your shirt to your hip, squeezing the soft skin, making it his own stress ball.

You knead at his nape, trying to release the knot in the muscle. He sinks further into you.

“Sleep” you whisper. “I can feel how tired you are”

“I need to shower” he murmurs against your shirt.

“I'll wake you up after your nap then. For now rest, I'll take care of you”

“Thank you…” His usual energy is emptied out, he conks out almost immediately, his soft snores could single handedly lull you to sleep.

You do your best at reaching his cheek but you could only manage to kiss his eyelid softly. A few minutes past, when you're absolutely sure he's in deep sleep, you take your book back to pass the time while he slumbers and hopefully dreaming of something good.

Hello!!! I unfortunately do not know much about G1! Soundwave(personality wise, I assume he acts almost the same as most of his iterations just with a different design), I tried watching G1 but I haven't fully committed to it.

But I think he'd adore being carried by you A LOT, considering that he's been carrying his cassettes for as long as he remembers he has never thought about he himself being carried. And since you have given him the taste of what it's like being carried like his cassettes, best believe he will do anything in his power to make sure that you do, even when you don't know.

I'm talking pants pockets, the breast pocket (he's too big for it sometimes but he still squeezes in even if he has to cling onto the shirt so he won't fall), your hands, and also the collar of the shirt itself. (If you wear bras, that's his favourite place, what a dream it is for him to be carried nuzzled in between your bosoms.)

He snuck down your pants once, almost passed out in lack of ventilation, I.e his frame overheating because he can smell you so intimately and he was unfortunate enough to have been caught before he was able to bury his helm on your private parts. (He almost whined in disappointment)

Affection wise I think he'd be very open to it, perhaps even trying to initiate it himself, especially since Megatron is not there for him to worry about and Starscream bothering him and probably taunting him about being smitten with an organic. Okay, sorry for making you wait a couple days, but I’m gonna try to cook something. Very generic headcanons below:

Following G1 lore, Soundwave is Megatron’s most loyal subordinate, but since we’re dealing with snakes living in the middle of nowhere in a jungle, we can just turn him into a spy instead of a communications officer.

At first, he has absolutely zero interest in you, since you’re not relevant to their cause (the ongoing conflict with the Autobots over dwindling territory). Just a regular human caught in the middle of a war. He’s sure his Lord will kill you at the first opportunity but when it turns out you’ve got a good connection with the Autobots, Megatron decides to use you as a mole. Intel on the enemy pack for extra data about their species. Though, this would only work if the reader is a moron, otherwise the Autobots would catch on right away that something’s off.

Soundwave only starts to show you a shred of respect once you manage to impress Megatron. In fact, that’s when he finally acknowledges your existence. He starts talking to you instead of ignoring you like before. And if he notices you getting along well with his cassettes (in this case, a black jaguar, a harpy, and two mini nagas), he’ll definitely find a soft spot for you faster.

Catching sight of you tending to Ravage after he returns to his father wounded is definitely going to melt Soundwave’s cold-blooded reptilian heart and shift his view of you from “useful human” to “potential mate?” But before any actual romantic feelings take root, you’ll spend hours together caring for the cassettes and bonding.

He’s absolutely going to stalk you. You tell him you have to say goodbye because you’re heading back to the Autobots, and that’s when he realizes he doesn’t want you to leave. He debates just curling his tail around you and keeping you there so you can play happy family forever (the cassettes have zero objections, in fact, they’re very much in favor), but in the end, he lets you go.

Then he follows you, hidden among the trees, watching for potential threats. When you stop on the trail to squint at a bird and cup your hands into fake binoculars, loudly complaining that your binoculars aren’t working, Soundwave gets the most intense boner of his life (because we are making him a moronsexual too)

Entering your home, you finally feel relaxed once the homely scent enters your senses. Toeing off your shoes, you spot a familiar pair of heavy boots right next to your indoor slippers. Tilting your head, you follow Hobie's trail of discarded spider suit.

His socks lay next to his gloves, looking sad on the floor. Leather vest left hanging on the back of your settee, it's the only thing from his suit that looks remotely placed with care. You continue to follow the trail, his necklace and shirt are tangled with each other, you're guessing he had a bit of a fight taking those things off at the same time.

You stop by your bedroom door, his jeans sit by the doorway like some sentient pair of pants waiting for his owner. Creeping inside, you gently open the door to surprise him. The sight has you melting on the spot.

Hobie sleeps soundly on your frilly pink bed, heavy pastel colored blanket covering his entire body up to his nose. His eyelashes kissing his cheeks as he snores softly. Your four foot tall plushie is having the time of its life as Hobie embraces it, his sleeping face squished right on the teddy's fluffy head.

You wish you had a camera on hand to preserve the image. Instead of trying to dig for your old polaroid, you take off your layers as quietly as you can before going under the covers with Hobie and your apparent replacement. Reaching over the soft thing, you could only grasp Hobie's shoulder, thumb caressing softly at his bare skin.

He snorts in his sleep and you silence yourself from almost giggling. With one more snore, he awakens, feeling soft touches on his arm, he lifts his head up to look at you over the big fluffy mountain.

“Hi” you quietly say.

He blinks slowly, with one eye open a smile spreads across his tired face. Wordlessly, Hobie flings the bear away, it thumps softly on your carpeted floor.

“Hey, that's my djungelskog–!” Hobie quiets you down by wrapping you in his arms, your face smooshed right on his chest, his face snuggling the top of your head.

That's one way to shut you up.

He gives you featherlight kisses over the crown of your head, murmuring low. “You both smell the same, but you're a hundred times better than that mass produced bear.”

You hug him back, lifting your leg up to secure him in. Craning your neck up, you face Hobie with a giddy smile.

“Go back to sleep because you're gonna have to pick up your mess after.” he hums in reply.

He slowly kisses down from your forehead to between your eyes then down the tip of your nose until he reaches your lips. Hobie snogs you until you forgot what you were blabbering about. Tapping your back rhythmically, he falls back to sleep after a few minutes of listening to your breathing.

Guess if you can't fight him, join him right? You snooze right after, snuggling closer to him.

So you want to start selfshipping, that’s great!! There’s lots of people out there who can help you out if you have questions, me included, but to answer some of the questions you already asked;

How do you know if you want to self shipping but with a character?

For me, it’s like a switch turns on kind of, a lightbulb moment almost. It either happens after I’m well established with a media (I watched sk8 all the way through before I gave shadow any time of day and now he’s one of my faves), or it’s love at first sight (cough cough… Eagle.bones…) where as soon as you see the character you go “I want that one ☝️ “

But really, it’s different for everyone, sometimes you just see a character you really like and want to post about/write/draw/etc, or can imagine scenarios with that character, whatever you want! Who you put on you fictional other (F/O) list is completely up to you, whether it has a million characters or only one or two.

how much can you adapt yourself to the setting before it's just an oc?

Honestly, I think it really doesn’t matter? OC x Canon and selfshipping has a lot of overlap, a lot of my sonas/self inserts (S/Is) are basically OCs that have the same name as me at this point.

For example, my Aqua.bats insert has so much lore, more lore than I’ve given any other OCs, original or fandom. I love writing up traits and scenarios for them, and while they represent me, if I literally just changed their hair color and name, they could probably be an OC on their own.

On the other hand, you can just be yourself plopped into a universe! Or your F/O can be in this universe! There’s not really any rules on “how close” your insert has to be to you as a person to selfship. Just be yourself and have fun, your S/I can be a demon cat warrior named Serena and as long as you say that’s your insert it counts IMO.

Yes!! Absolutely you can platonically selfship!!! It’s so fun having characters be your besties! I may not be the best platonic selfship rep, but I do have a good few friend F/Os with tags on this blog. I will say, there is a lot of romantic imagines in selfship tags, but there’s plenty of people writing and creating about their platonic F/Os as well if you look.

okay when i say these are my least favourites to choice, it's not that they're my least favourite characters, i love them, it's that these are the hardest voices for me to do:

simon 'ghost' riley (call of duty) - getting my voice that deep is straining and trying to do a non-posh london accent is hard for me as if its not posh but still english it starts slipping into my yorkshire accent which is not the accent ghost has.

moon (fnaf) - i can't growl. like i have tried, i have watched tutorials, and it just seems my body is physically incapable of it which makes doing his voice difficult and frustrating and imo makes me sound nothing like the character

copia (ghost) - might sound odd since isn't it the same accent as terzo and i voice terzo just fine, but i have a hard time pinning copia's personality down. hence why i voice shy baby cardinal and not papa iv because i just don't feel like i know who he is despite yes i do i'm very into the fandom but idk. i find him really difficult to act as in terms of being in character that there's a reason i choose the terzo audios over copia ones if i want to do a ghost audio.

hypnos (hades) - not super least favourite, it's more of having insecurities when i voice him as i don't think my american accent is good enough and to my ear i often still sound english, and because he has a higher pitched voice it makes me feel dysphoric a lot of the time when voicing him, worrying that because my voice is higher in that audio that people are gonna be transphobic in the comments.

those are the only ones i get anxious getting requests for because and hence why those characters have either very few audios or it's been a while since we last saw them.

also to be clear, i'm not saying you can't request audios of these characters or that i'm 100% done voicing them, just that i get more scared of doing them. but i've been scared of recording simon every. single. time. i always freak out before i start recording that i'm gonna mess it up, my voice won't be deep enough, my real accent will slip in, that since it's cod maybe more transphobes will find it and make mean comments that i don't sound enough like a guy (not saying that cod fans are transphobic, but we can all understand there's a big cishet male audience of the game and i'm always scared of my audios leaking out of the fandom side of cod and getting recommended to players who dont participate in fandom stuff and would make fun of them).
