“I think you need cool down autumn Prince.” Used to be said in a way to cool his anger. “Is that a threat?” But you use it for when he’s flustered

Hated each other to begin with, you thought he was too hot headed and he thought you were too detached and cold

“Do I need to warm you up my dear.” When you’re feeling cold

Using your snow manipulation to make snowballs and play fetch with Eris hounds

Gives you a fox for company when he’s not there

Sad that you don’t need your winter coat, but Eris gets a thinner coat for you made exactly like the one from your court

Walks through the forest are your favourite moments, the colourful leaves falling like snowflakes. Watching the hounds leap out of piles of leaves and nudge you closer into Eris’s arms

🦇 Azriel

Tiny snowflakes following around his shadows. Always a part of each other together

You have a pet snow fox that likes to nap on your faux fur hats, which always gets Azriel when he open the wardrobe. Fangs out as it jumps at him, but it’s become a game

Soothing his burns when they itch, the coolness of your hands in his taking his mind of it

He likes going to the winter court with you, which is a lot during the summer when you miss the snow

You got him a fur lined hat and the boys have teased him ever since, but he still wears it

Turning his shadows to ice before they can scurry back to him. Gives you a head start before anything can get back to him

Telling him about the dragons in the winter court mountains, he’s still not sure if you’re being serious or not. His shadows have definitely tried to seek them out whenever he’s in the winter court

He gets you a polar bear teddy after you tell him how much you miss seeing them in your home court

🦊 Lucien

You accidentally killed a garden in the spring court with frost after an argument with him

Charmed his way into your heart, you froze his hand when he first held yours and he hasn’t let you forget about it

“Do I make you melt?” 🫠

Lucien spending most of his time with you in the winter court when he’s not working away

His touch is sometimes too hot “do you burn for me?” You’re used to the cold so it takes a while to get used to it

Going to the human land with Lucien during summer and vowing never to go there again. You wouldn’t listen to him that you didn’t need to wear as many layers

When you’re stressed you turn ice cold, Lucien hugs you tightly to calm you down and warm you up

Cassian’s first meeting with you was him asking about how to construct the best snowball for best impact.

The story he tells everyone about you finally falling for him. “Heart frozen, can you believe it.”

You are a valuable member of the winter courts army. Which means you get called back to train new recruits and keep up with latest news (cassian likes meeting you at night in your military bunk, makes him feel younger sneaking around)

Knows when he’s pissed you off as the whole house is cold, maybe even some ice trailing down the hallway

Would put a snowflake in a locket so you always have a part of home with you 🥲

The sword you keep beside you is made of ice and each time he’s tried to pick it up, it shatters. You tease him for being too strong, but don’t tell him it’s because your skin runs a lot colder than his

Geno having slutty summer antics and Sid wanting to hear about them but also getting jealous/possessive? or talking about sex in a bro way that leads to 🔥🔥🔥

Sid really, really should not be doing this.

The negotiations between the owners and the PA are tenuous enough after the last mediator got canned. Sid's not even a union rep, not officially, but every time he's missed a meeting in the past because he had something else going on it felt like the entire hockey world went into a panicked spiral that the lockout would never end.

If he's caught flying to Russia? May as well cancel the entire season, at the one after while you're at it. Sidney Crosby defecting to the K means it's over, don't even bother trying anymore.

Sid slumps down into his seat and tugs his hat further over his eyes. He'd managed to hide in the lounge right up until boarding, and so far he doesn't think he's been spotted.

He packed his Kindle, hoping to read himself to sleep once they left New York. Instead, though, the Kindle is sitting on the empty seat next to him, and he's scrolling on his phone.

Thankfully wifi for first-class international flights are free.

Sid's kept in touch with all the guys who have scattered to try and play while the NHL is at a standstill. He doesn't hold it against anyone; if he had the choice, he'd be on the ice somewhere too. Between the hurdle of getting himself insured internationally and the clamor of the press for him to stay involved in negotiations, though, it just hasn't worked out.

He wonders how long until Pat realizes he's left the country and starts calling.

Really, though, it's not Sid's fault.

He and Geno had left things open, when Geno called to tell Sid he'd be going home to play until the NHL got its shit figured out. Sid hadn't wanted to hold Geno back from enjoying his time home, and he didn't think he'd have the free time required for the maintenance and upkeep of an extreme long-distance relationship; it would be easier for both of them to do their own thing until they were back in the same city.

It only took about a month for Sid to regret it.

Geno's regular Instagram was bad enough, but the private one he set up a few weeks into his contract in Magnitogorsk was even worse. Picture after picture of him out at clubs, dressed like Sid's never seen him in North America, draped over guys who have their hands all over him—and that's nothing compared to the stories he's sharing in the team chat when the guys razz him for dressing like a slutty club rat.

From the sounds of it, Geno's doing just as much damage to the club scene as he is his hometown team's points records. There's only so much bragging that Sid can be expected to endure.

The flight to Moscow is torturously long, and the airport is a dizzying array of unintelligible signs and fumbling through customs until he finds the ride he'd pre-arranged. His hotel room is blessedly silent, and Sid sleeps for a solid ten hours as soon as his head hits the pillow.

Geno's team is in town for a week and a half. The K's schedule is more relaxed than the NHL's, with plenty of days to relax built in after long flights. Geno's clearly been taking advantage of the downtime.

It only took a few phone calls to secure a suite to watch Metallurg take on Dynamo Moscow. Geno's hockey is as good as it's ever been, maybe better as he shows off in his hometown colors, and Sid watches him like a hawk, wishing he was sitting behind the bench where he'd be able to watch the sweat drip down the back of his neck.

The hallways here are a maze, but hockey arenas are the same everywhere, and Sid leans against the wall across from the visitor's locker room, clearing out missed calls and frantic texts as he waits.

Geno's one of the last ones out; not like he is in Pittsburgh, but then again, in Pittsburgh he's never left a game dressed like this.

Sid takes a minute to eye up his skintight jeans artfully torn at the thighs, and the short-sleeve shirt with some reflective design painted on it, then steps forward and grabs Geno's arm, yanking him down a side hallway he'd found earlier.

"Sid?" Geno sounds shocked, and Sid takes advantage of his confusion to back him up against the wall. "Sid, you're here—why? What's happen?"

Sid gets his hands on Geno's ass and squeezes. Geno yelps, but he reflexively pushes his hips forward. "I came to see you," he says, putting his lips to Geno's ear and nipping at his neck. "I wanted to get a piece of what you've been throwing at every big guy with a fancy wristwatch you've run into since you got here. Is that a problem?"

Geno whimpers, leaning back and sliding down the wall a little as he opens his legs.

"You're such a slut," Sid says fondly, reaching down and groping Geno's dick through his pants. He's already half-hard and Sid hasn't done anything more than manhandle him a little bit. "Thought I should come over and get mine before you're all used up. Do you have a curfew?"

"No," Geno gasps as Sid squeezes too hard over his shaft. "I'm go out tonight with Sanja, stay with him maybe, it's off day tomorrow."

Sid grinds his teeth. "You're not going home with Ovechkin," he says, stepping back and pulling Geno after him. "I've got a room down the road. If you're lucky, I'll let you out of bed before anyone thinks to come looking for you."

They probably get spotted on the way out. Geno's not exactly inconspicuous in his club clothes, and Sid didn't make any effort to be discreet.

Fuck it. He'll deal with the fallout later, once he's reminded Geno who he belongs to.

Special Attack - Just Fucking Topple 'Em (If he needs to, he'll just run straight into any group of enemies with his skateboard, so he topples them to the ground along with him)

Weaknesses - Traumatic triggers that lead him to spiral into a panic attack + Low Esteem (vulnerable to psychological attacks that could potentially leave him wondering whether or not he is worthwhile or if his friends truly care about him)

Idle Animation - Standing on his customized purple and black skateboard, with his cheap headphones he stole from the dollar store on and drinking a vanilla ice cream milkshake. He occasionally gives the camera a mischievous smirk.

Idle Animation - He's leaning against his Chevy, arms crossed over his chest, a scowl on his face. He occasionally checks his phone for the time, and may glare into the camera with an "what are you looking at, loser?" stare, before looking away with a sigh. He seems impatient.

The second they do he takes them by surprise and makes them trip down to the floor, then goes "Oh buddy, you okay?" before unleashing a barrage of cutting quips and calculated verbal burns, Vicious Mockery style.)

Weaknesses: Worrying if he is good enough/Impostor's Syndrome + Has a tendency to panic if someone makes him think he won't find his missing cousin in time.

Idle Animation: He's walking with a carefree smile on his face, talking friendily to people around him. At one point he adjusts his football team jacket, smiles at the camera and does a "I tip my hat to you" gesture, like a cowboy, despite not wearing a hat.

If sucessful the enemy remains blinded and prone for the next 4 turns, but even if not, they stay blinded for a turn and their movement speed reduced by half)

Weaknesses - Abandonement issues and people threatening her freedom or her friend's freedom

Idle Animation - She's sitting somewhere and drawing on her sketchbook with intense focus, which she only breaks to take a quick swig of her coffee and keep drawing. Eventually she looks up from the book and happily watches a yellow butterfly passing by, before noticing the camera and waving in its direction with an excitable smile.

At least, that's what he tries to convince everyone - including you the first few times you see him eat breakfast.

Then one day after a particularly long night of poker, you arrive downstairs to find him essentially making out with a Sausage McMuffin.

Breakfast in the prison isn't exactly inspiring - sure it's not the stereotypical vomit porridge but toast and eggs every day can only make you so excited.

The first morning in your flat after he's let out for parole, he walks into the kitchen to find you placing the final pancake on top of the stack already on the plate.

Maybe he tears up at the first bite. You playfully tease him but he knows it's more the gesture than the food that's got him emotional. Pancakes are now his favorite food ever.

Liar- not the best liar at all. When she feels like she has to lie she becomes very avoidant and feels the need to get away rather to lie to them. Sometimes physically can't lie and goes non verbal. If she has to lie though she has some tells- she rubs her finger under her nose and sniffs as if her nose is running, mumbles even more than she usually does making her speech inaudible, and when she lies it's one of the only times she very prominently averts eye contact.

Crying- she can be a crybaby sometimes, yeah, having meltdowns and all. She goes non verbal during/after those episodes. Sometimes she completely shuts down though and can't even cry really, all the tears getting choked up. Usually cries when over stimulated (often happens), hurt or her mother is feeling sad. Doesn't cry in front of bullies, only when she's alone though. If bad stuff happens to her she'll go sob into a pillow.

Shaved ice- lots of things!! Plushies and little trinkets for example. She still has various plushies her parents got/made for her, most importantly a crotched pig made by her father and two tardigrades given by each of her parents. She still has her very first and broken melodica as well. If anything happened to them she would have a major meltdown to be honest </3 and it would take her months to get over with. She has lost some objects from her childhood like plushies and was inconsolable for days, if anything ever happened to these items it would he very rough.

Hibiscus- No allergies for her, she's lucky in that standpoint. Though due to her albinism she can't stay out in the sun at all unless she is wearing a shit ton of sunscreen and a hat. Thank god she lives in Canada </3

Milky way- People asking me about how Billy would treat his child if he had one was a jumping off points, as well as talking to @lycanthropiclykoi about his ocs Wally and Hyacinth inspired me greatly to make my own fankid. First things about her that I determined related to her appearance I think, as vain as that sounds. I think primarily visually, so when developing a character I go from their appearance and aditude then work back to developing their personality. Not the best way to create characters or so I've heard but oh well. So I think I first determined her gender, how much of her features she gets from her mom vs her dad, her hair texture. I kept imagining her as blonde which. Would be a genetic long shot, so I decided to give her albinism instead. I think I talked about it in an ask but I think Billy would be more emotionally vulnerable and loving towards his child if they had disabilities or in general things that set them apart from others, as much as it can be iffy to admit that. So the albinism played into it. I also gave her autism early on when determining aspects of her personality, as it is something she inherited from her father, and can act as a bridge that helps them understand and relate to each other more.

Present- home made presents, soft plushies and toys and clothes and things relating to her special interests!! That being said, her presents are a bit unusual, like rocks she finds or leaves she pressed. She finds them to be very personal presents but most people wouldn't appreciate them though </3

Book- Bean in general struggled in school cause of the sensory overload she experienced everyday there, as well as bullying 😔 she had a hard time focusing on school but liked biology and her best subject was music. Her music teacher in elementary encouraged her parents to get her to play some instruments actually. She wanted to study microbiology but sadly chemistry was one of her weakest subjects along with math and P.E . She still loves learning about microscopic animals though. Was a sometimes struggling C student.

Fire- self isolation, though thankfully not as sever as her fathers. If she has a big meltdown or is feeling overwhelmed it can lead her to just. Not leaving her room and staying in on bed all day. Thankfully it doesn't last that long usually and even when she's going through it she still interacts with somebody at least, like her mom for example. Is also very conflict avoidant and she just. Ghosts people sometimes. Also books it when she's not in the mood to do or deal with something, giving everyone a nice view of her back while leaving through the door.

But let’s talk about HC ALMAZ's exit strategy: quitting before we could even finish counting our goals is an epic fail worthy of its own reality show episode titled “How Not to Play Hockey.” They must’ve thought they’d get extra points for style by leaving early—newsflash: you can’t score from the bench! So here’s my advice moving forward: if you're going to step onto that ice, bring your A-game and maybe some courage too. Otherwise, prepare yourself for more savage roasts than you can handle because trust me—I’m just getting started! Stockholm Week 16: Tate McRae in Stockholm!  

It was my second to last week in Stockholm. I can’t believe that it’s time for me to go back to the US already.  It feels like I’ve been here for two months now… I still have so much more to try and enjoy ;-;

The weather is beautiful now: it ranges from the high 40s to the low 70s but the sun makes it feel like mid 70s! 

4/30 Tue: Cherry Blossoms in Kungsträdgården 

On Tuesday, I had a group presentation for Crime Fiction. We presented a rewrite of the book that we read, The Legacy, for 20 minutes. 

After class, I went to ICA nearby and bought ice cream as a small treat for myself :))

Ranting about the cherry blossoms for a few days did bore fruit: we went to see the cherry blossoms in Kungsträdgården.         

Walking on a street full of cherry blossoms was on my bucket list for the longest time – being able to check it off the list in Stockholm was a wonderful experience. They were fully bloomed and the streets were fully packed too. 

I could see happiness  

On top of the cherry blossoms, I got to go out on a nice dinner for my friend’s birthday. We went to Florentine, a popular Italian restaurant in Stockholm.

Their signature drink Florentine on the Beach was fire🔥

The walk back to my house was a new experience due to the sight of hundreds of people wearing the same white marine hat. Apparently, it is a high school graduation tradition where all the graduating seniors where the hat and celebrate after school. Even the way back home was interesting! 

I also spotted wildflowers on the streets on the way back home (I swear they weren’t there before).

Small things make me smile :) 

Tuesday was a day packed with joy! 

5/1 Wed: Food Trial

My friends and I checked out this Korean fried chicken place! We made a reservation for 5 people but had to wait an hour until the food came out… The taste wasn’t what I expected either🥲 Wouldn’t necessarily recommend but they did try their chicken well!

5/2 Thu: TATE MCRAE 

The big day has come – I completely forgot about the Tate McRae concert until a couple of days ago and I got extremely excited since then.ᐟ.ᐟ.ᐟ 

But before the concert: I woke up early (10 am) to do my laundry and saw this beautiful scenery outside the window.

I dressed up both for my final poster presentation for the Engineering Sustainable Environments in Scandinavia core course AND the concert because I had no time to change. 

I was originally planning to miss the last class dinner, but (1) the class ended early and (2) I was convinced by free food. The burger place we went to was the building right next to DIS, so it didn’t consume much time either. 

The burger with sweet potato fries (it was gas) on top of Briska pear cider (I love that thing) was the best combination I could think of.

I sprinted out of the restaurant not too late after my friends (already at the concert) asked me where I was.  

I made it in time to Avicii Arena: I stood in the line for a good amount of time and went through security relatively quickly.

Once I went inside, I moved upstairs and my friends followed my lead. We had a better view! 

The concert started with Charlieonafriday, who performed for about thirty minutes. He was a very good singer and a rapper! Low key a fan now. 

The intermission after the opening was 45 minutes, and we were doubting if Tate McRae was lost or something. Thankfully, she came out and we enjoyed a full hour of her performance. 

My personal favorites were greedy, exes, and you broke me first. And wow she could dance for real. 

I did not want it to end :((

5/3 Fri

On Friday, I perfected my oral exam script for Swedish. My partner and I pulled together and memorized a 5-minute speech in Swedish with good pronunciation :)  

We were constantly getting 5 minutes and 30 seconds on practices, but when we actually did the exam it somehow got shortened to 5 minutes. 

Nevertheless, it was a success! 

After our exam, we could leave early, so I went thrifting as a treat for myself. I was on a mission to find a brown leather jacket, but it did not happen :(  I do not think it’s happening anytime soon either… 

I almost bought the rabbit version but I stopped myself 

I took a little detour to a park next to our apartment. Cherry blossoms and wildflowers prompted everyone (AND PUPPIES) to come out! 

Spring is making me an outdoorsy person :)

Sunny is generally much too sturdy to take damage from any run-of-the-mill naval battle, but that’s not to say she doesn’t sail away with some torn sails and splintered railing at times.  

So Usopp is touching up the paint on the stairs that lead to the quarterdeck when Luffy comes wandering over, clearly curious about what has his fishing buddy tied up.

“Ah-ah, off the canvas!” Usopp says at once, pointing his brush at him. “You track paint everywhere and Nami will kill us both!”

Luffy pouts but tellingly stops in his tracks. Where he’s reclined in the grass nearby for his late-afternoon nap, Zoro snorts. The woman herself, sharing the newspaper with Robin, gives him an arch look and doesn’t deny a thing. 

“But Usopp’s been busy all day,” Luffy grumbles. He crouches to start poking at Usopp’s supplies, his magpie-like curiosity unable to leave anything unbothered, even during a sulk.

And really, Usopp thinks wryly, if the world knew that this is what the captain of the Straw Hats was actually like. 

“Sorry, Lu, but I’m almost done. I just wanted to get Sunny squared away ASAP.” He pats a dry bit of railing, hoping the ship can feel his fondness. “She deserves the best.”

Luffy brightens. “That’s true! Our nakama always come first.” But he’s still rooting around in Usopp’s stuff, and he makes a little ‘ohhh’ noise when he uncovers some of the unused paints. 

“Luffy, if you keep bothering him he’ll never get done,” Sanji says as he comes over, bearing a tray of drinks and snacks. He points firmly at Usopp, and then at a big glass of water filled with crushed ice and diced strawberries. “Hydrate. Electrolytes. Or I’ll tattle on you to Chopper.”

“You really don’t have to threaten me with fruit water every time I work for longer than one hour in the sun,” Usopp tells him.

“Yes he does!” Chopper calls happily from his spot on the swing. 

Usopp glances back at Luffy, and finds that in the thirty seconds he’s been unsupervised, he’s pried the lids off of three of the smaller paint tins. The look on his face is outright gleeful. 

“Look! Red, blue and yellow, and they were all sitting together!” He rocks back and forth on his heels, glancing up at the rest of them. The short-sleeve shirt he’s wearing is coral pink and baby blue, patterned with little lambs and lions, and unbuttoned down the front so that Luffy’s massive battle scar is on prominent display. It’s a stark reminder that Usopp’s bright, childish best friend is also a wanted man worth four hundred million berries. “It reminds me of my first pirate flag!”

“That monstrosity you painted when we first got the Merry-Go?” Nami asks. “There wasn’t any blue in that flag.”

Luffy shakes his head, still smiling. “Nope, before that! Way before! I’ll show you.”

With a pilfered brush, he sits cross-legged in the grass, and starts to draw on the corner of the canvas. Usopp comes down the stairs to see better, and everyone else on deck gets up to venture closer, too. Even Zoro seems interested, when Usopp would have guessed that nothing short of a cask of rum would have gotten him up from his nap. 

The design is so simple that even someone of Luffy’s limited talent can’t really mess it up. It’s just three letters: A S L. 

“There’s supposed to be a crossbones, too, but I don’t have any white paint,” Luffy says cheerfully. “Ahhh, this really takes me back!”

“This was your flag, Luffy?” Chopper asks, planting his hooves on one of Luffy’s knees and leaning over his lap to study it like a little scholar. “What does it mean?”

Usopp thinks he’s braced for anything—he’s waiting to hear a really stupid, wonderfully Luffy-esque acronym—but their captain does what their captain loves to do, and takes them all by complete surprise.

“When I was little, my brothers and I wanted to be pirates together,” he says. “This was going to be our flag. Ace even made one, and we flew it above our hideout!” 

Usopp sits down hard on a step. His heart is pounding so hard he can feel it in his throat and his ears. It’s abruptly impossible for him to look anyone else in the eye, but from the sudden stillness of their bodies, the way none of them say anything right away, he can guess his nakama are in the same boat.

Zoro is the first to speak up. “Would’ve thought you’d want red for your letter.”

“I did! Ace was so stingy.” 

“Who was this?” Nami asks softly, kneeling at Luffy’s side and pointing at the blue S nestled between Ace and Luffy’s initials. 

“Oh, Sabo!” Luffy’s smile widens. “He was the best. Ace always got so mad at me all the time, but Sabo never did. He was strong, too! I never beat him when we sparred, not even once.”

It’s like hearing him talk about Ace in Alabasta, Usopp thinks, but the past-tense is telling. Chopper’s eyes get all watery, and the reindeer clambers into Luffy’s lap, tugging at the arms that have leveled kingdoms and pummeled emperors until they’re wrapped around him in a hug. 

Luffy laughs and plants his chin on the top of Chopper’s hat. He’s always been as tactile as he is strange, like a friendly feral cat. He and Chopper have an innate understanding of each other the way he and Zoro do, if on a lesser scale. 

Robin, meanwhile, has gone a shade paler. “His name was Sabo? Could you tell us about him?”

“Mm,” Luffy agrees. And he tells them about a proud, kind boy from a cruel, selfish family of nobles, a boy who was constantly running away to join his best friends in the jungle and the junkyard where they made their home together. He tells it with a maturity only granted in hindsight, but the details are clearly pulled from a child’s memory.

He paints them a vivid picture of three boys thrown together by circumstances who chose to keep each other. His voice is bright as he describes the sake ceremony, their plans of going out to sea together, all their huge, impossible dreams. 

If this conversation is digging at old wounds, it’s impossible to tell. He looks perfectly happy to share the story, surrounded by his favorite people and the bright summer sunshine, all of them cradled safely at home in the sea. 

“Sabo went ahead of us,” Luffy tells them. “He finally escaped from his family and he left us a letter, promising to meet us again. But his boat got in the way of a Celestial Dragon’s ship, and so they blew it apart. He died before he could be free. That’s why Ace and I decided to live without regrets. That’s why I have to be Pirate King no matter what. I’ll be freer than anybody, for Sabo—and for Ace, too.”

Robin stands up so abruptly that Nami and Brook, on either side of her, both jump. She smooths out her sundress, a nervous flick of her hands that seems out of character, and says, “I need to make a call. Would you excuse me, captain?”

“Huh? Sure, Robin,” Luffy leans back to look at her upside-down, frowning. “You okay?”

Her eyes are a storm of panic and confusion and tenderness and urgency, but her face gentles the way it only does for her nakama. An arm blooms out of the grass beneath his head, stretching out its hand to curl its fingers into his hair, and then tugging with enough force to send him sprawling backwards.

It elicits an oof, and then a peal of laughter. Chopper, from where he’s still trapped against Luffy’s chest, starts laughing, too. Robin sweeps away to the aquarium bar where their Den-Den usually lives, and closes the door neatly behind her. 

“Wonder what that was all about,” Nami murmurs, watching her go.

“Dunno, but it must be important. She’ll tell us when it matters,” Luffy says with perfect confidence, and no one can argue that. 

There’s a slightly more fragile air around them now, even though Luffy seems determined not to notice it. He rolls over onto his stomach, squishing Chopper, and then rolls over again so that he’s flat on his back once more, right next to Zoro this time. He starts talking his first mate’s ear off about the giant crocodiles he used to hunt with his brothers. Brook settles in with them, copying Luffy’s starfish position. Usopp looks up at Nami in time to see her dash some tears away. 

“Well,” she says, then has to clear her throat. “Well. That’s one worthy legacy. His brothers left him a big responsibility.”

“No better hands than his to leave it in,” Sanji mutters, holding the sides of his tray in a white-knuckled grip. 

Usopp nods slowly, thinking of three little boys tearing through the wilderness, raising each other and building a life out of scraps, never learning how to slow down or dream smaller, finding something on that tiny island that some people search for their whole lives.

But he’s also thinking of that day in Alabasta, and the only thing Ace ever asked of them. The same thing Sabo had asked of Ace, all those years ago. A passing of the torch. 

“They left us a job, too,” he says. “An important one.”

Sanji and Nami seem to understand right away. Nami’s mouth firms, and Sanji dips his head in a nod.

Take care of him for me. 

“Hey, Franky,” Usopp says sometime later, wheeling his cart of painting supplies back into the workshop. When the shipwright glances up from his welding, Usopp tosses him the folded up piece of canvas he’d cut away from the rest of the sheet. “I wanna do something with this design. Hang it up somewhere. What do you think?”

Franky shakes the canvas loose, and a smile darts across his face at what is obviously their captain’s clumsy, enthusiastic handiwork. Franky missed that whole illuminating conversation Usopp and the others had earlier, but he clears his work desk anyway, and spreads the makeshift ASL flag out properly. If it’s important to Luffy and to Usopp, that’s enough to make it important to him, too. 

“Walk me through it,” he says. 

The very next day, a framed fabric print hangs in place of pride in the dining hall. Smaller than the huge flag that Sunny is flying, but still big enough to take up most of the wall between the pantry and galley doors. Luffy lights up when he sees it, and literally throws himself at Franky and Usopp in a full-body slam that nearly takes out the ladder to the quarterdeck. 

His hug wraps around them three times, and he says, “I never thought our flag would really get to sail! Thank you!” which makes Franky start crying and the close-call with the ladder is forgotten about completely.

Two days after that, Robin sits them all down at the table, takes one of Luffy’s hands in both of hers, and says they should expect to have company very soon.

Swedish facts- holidays edition

Here's the third installment of my swedish facts series (not counting the first one)

This will focus in Swedish holidays and traditions including more royal family focused ones.

🎅 Christmas

Celebrated on the 24th (Christmas eve) often with family. You commonly eat lunch, watch Kalle Anka (From all of us to all of you) eat dinner and open gifts. Every family have their own traditions.

Common foods are ham, herring, ribs, meatballs, jansons frestelse, risgrynsgröt (porridge made of rice) and cured salmon.

🎆 New Years

Pretty straight forward. Often celebrated with friends. You eat fancy food, drink champagne and toast at midnight. Every year there's a celebration from Skansen in Stockholm which is broadcasted in TV live. There are music performances from different artists and every year a special person is chosen to read the poem "ring out, wild bells" by Alfred Tennyson. It's read just before midnight and if the timing is right it finishes just as the church bell starts ringing in the new year with It's twelve rings.

💕 Alla Hjärtans dag - Valentine's day

This is not a huge holiday in Sweden but if you are a couple you might go out for dinner or cook something special. You might give roses or gifts but it's not a huge thing. As a kid we made gift cards for friends and family. It's like in the US but toned down.

🍩 Fettisdagen - fatty tuesday

It's a Christian tradition that has it's origins in fasting. I think 47 days before easter? Before fasting you ate to be able to withstand the fasting and from there fettisdagen has become a very celebrated and anticipated tradition where you eat a special kind of baked good. It's a wheat bun with cardamom that's filled with whipped cream and almond mass/paste.

🧇 Våffeldagen -waffle day

Celebrated the 25th of March. It as Christian roots but nowdays we juat eat waffles.

🐣Easter

Easter is a bit all over the place.

Apart from the Christian easter traditions we also dress up like påskkärringar (witches) and kids and over their drawings to their neighbours and often gets candy in return. Parents might by eggs that that they fill with candy that their kids then get. Some kids have to search for theirs.

We eat alot of eggs but also herring.

🔥Valborg- celebrated 30th of April

It's celebrated to welcome spring. You light huge bonfires in the evening and in some cities Valborg is a huge thing. In Uppsala and Lund for instance. There are choirs performing and speeches and poems being held/read. It's a huge deal among uni students but also an appreciated tradition along families. It's just a different kind of celebration 😂.

Valborg is also the current kings birthday.

🌸 Första Maj

The day after Valborg. It's the "working class'" holiday and super important for many people. May day in the UK. Many speeches are being held, especially by the labour party and other parties on the left. There are also many demonstrations.

🤰🏾Mother’s day

No need to explained. Celebrated the last sunday of May.

🇸🇪 Nationaldagen - our national day - June 6

I would say that it's not as big as in many other countries but it's still celebrated a bit. The royal family is always involved. You have the day off but like I said I wouldn't call it a very important holiday for most people. Some people dress up in tradtional clothing though.

☀️ Midsommar

Perhaps the most swedish holiday/tradition of them all. Celebrated with families and/or friends. You commonly have a barbecue, eat the traditional foods like the new potatoes and again herring.

Strawberries are common to eat for dessert. Either the way they are with ice cream or whipped cream or strawberry cake.

You dance around the may pole (mostly kids and their parents) and you make flower crowns and dress nicely. Some wear their traditional clothing like on our national day.

It's not as crazy as the movie.

🦞 Kräftskiva - cray fish party

Usually held in August. You eat crayfish and wear weird hats.

🥨 Kanalbullens dag - cinnamon bun day.

Celebrated 4th of October. We celebrate the amazingness that is cinnamon buns. Not the weird ones with frosting.

🎃 Halloween - 31 October

Not a huge holiday. Mostly celebrated among kids that go trick or treating (still not a huge thing) and students that likes to party.

🕯Alla Helgona - All saints day. Celebrated Saturday between the 31st of October and 6th of November.

We remember the people in our lives that are no longer with us by visiting their graves and light candles at the graveyard.

It's a beautiful holiday.

👨‍👧Father's day - pretty straight forward. Celebrated the second Sunday in November.

⭐️ Advent

Celebrated the 4 Sundays before Christmas eve. We light a candle every sunday leading up to christmas.

👸🏿 Lucia

YR did a good way showing it and it's basically about celebrating light. There's a performance done by a choir and one of the women is dressed like lucia.

I was going to include traditions with the royal family but this post is already so long. If people are interested I could make one revolving around the royal family and the traditions that they are very involved with.
